This is the BEST place to get breakfast in all of Mexican Hat. Of course, you should know, it's then ONLY place to get breakfast in MH. But really, it's pretty good! Had the southwest Burrito and was pleasantly surprised! Give them a try when you're in Mexican Hat.
Had breakfast here after an overnight stay on our way to Monument Valley. Asked our server if I could order an item not on the breakfast menu -- their Navajo taco. I was able to. The portion was huge but it was way too soggy. I should have ordered it vegetarian style instead of topped with chili, which tasted like it came out of a can. However, the service was excellent and the décor was eclectic and charming.
Incrediable service! We came here for lunch after a long day of driving across the mid west from San Francisco. We were tired and hungry, and ordered the Navajo Tacos. They were awesome - huge piece of freshly made fry bread, chili, lettuce, cheese and salsa on the side. Very filling. Now what impressed me and won over the coveted 5 star review: I casually mentioned to the owner - Joey we were going on a sunset tour of the monuments and asked what time they closed. I found out that they close at 9pm, sometimes 10pm, and that there was nothing else in town open late. I was in a pickle; our tour didn't get out to 9:30 and we wouldn't be back until 10:30pm. So the owner gave me his cell number and told me to call him and that he would keep the restaurant and kitchen open late for us and personally cook us dinner if need be. Now that's service! For dinner we requested a special not on the menu item: Chicken Quesadilla made with Fry Bread. Oh man was it ever tasty!!! Now I want to point out to people no the food isn't the quality of the stuff you would get in San Francisco, New York, or another big city. It is however really good considering where you are. The middle of the desert - a place where cellphone barely work - heck this review took 2min to post because of the very slow Edge network. No 3G, 4G, LTE here!

Adorable, unique, family friendly inn! My sister and I stayed here not last night but the night before on our road trip from Vegas to Denver. I called for a reservation about 6 hours before we arrived, and I was able to book a room. Staff - extremely friendly and helpful. The woman at the front remembered me from my call 5 hours earlier. Also, the woman at the desk in the morning let my sister and I use her computer to check the weather in monarch's pass since the wifi was not working. Room - The room was small, but it was clean and comfortable. We had enough space for the two of us, and we felt safe. We had a room on the second level, and we had a beautiful view of the river in the morning. Cafe - Food was good, and the service was quick. We showed up about 15 min before closing, and they allowed us to get food. It was very nice of them. We recommend this hotel for a few days! It is right at the top of the Monument Valley where you can hike and take in the scenery!
Stayed here for two nights while on a road trip in July 2015, but had been here back in 2006 as well. The rooms are okay. Some of them have three beds which is nice, but they aren't very comfortable. The sink isn't in the bathroom which is kind of odd. Overall though, the rooms are fine and can't complain too much. The restaurant is meh. I remember really liking it back in 06 but this time not as much. We went here our first night, and I got the veggie taco. I thought it was kind of odd that it came out in less than five minutes, but it was good - filling! We then ate breakfast here the next day, and my brother's plate was a little dirty and his cereal six months expired. I enjoyed my food as did my parents and family friends. Fast forward a few hours and my stomach starts getting very upset. Then my brothers, then my moms (my dad has a stomach made of steel, I swear). My brother and I figured it must be the restaurant and wouldn't go back, however there's not many restaurants whatsoever around here. Luckily there's a little store (where you check in) where you can get food. We got dinner and microwaved it there, then breakfast the next day (yogurt, muffins, etc). Free tea! The hotel is on the river which is lovely. There are tables overlooking it and you can go down to it as well. The hotel is situated near many scenic areas.
Didn't think it was worth $99 plus tax but I get that it's the last place to lay your head before Monument Valley. The room was okay. Two double beds. We would have preferred a King but that's all they had. We checked in just before sunset. Got a non smoking room but could still smell the cigarette smoke of those smoking upstairs and outside. Not enough lighting in the room. There was no bath soap in our bathroom. Husband had to go to the front desk to get some. They should not advertise free wifi as an amenity. It's awful and restricted. Slow. And slower. And you're given a token/convoluted code for ONE device. iPhone? iPad? Or laptop? Wow. Breakfast at the on-property Grill run by a Navajo family was nice. They were accommodating enough to make me fry bread for breakfast.
