I have eaten in many Popeye's locations around the country. This on is about the same, but with REALLY super long lines, and excessive waiting around. But, it is to be expected when a really good restaurant comes to Utah. The food was alright, chicken was nice and hot, but the fries where soggy and we completely did without the biscuits because they left them out of the order. But, with all that being said, they will get better as they novelty wears off and they start doing regular business. Then and only then will the real reviews come into play.

We discovered Popeye;s while serving a mission in Florida and loved it - so we were excited to see the sign for this one in Lehi. The folks who mention the slow service, the packed dining room, and the lack of parking have a point but of course this is because it is so popular. We were there at 1:30 and we did have to wait about 10 minutes for our shrimp po'boys and share a table. But the wait was well worth it because the po'boy was piled with delicious, perfectly seasoned, just fried shrimp and we got to share the table with a friendly young man young man from California who was there for the spicy chicken. I am sure that if the owners had any idea that their new business would become so popular they would have built it larger. Hopefully there will soon be one closer to our home in So while there are lots of chicken places in the valley, this is the only place to get a real Louisiana shrimp po'boy with red beans and rice.

UPDATE: Local Popeye's management has been removing comments from their Facebook Page and filtering any negative reviews they get here on Yelp. Here's the deal. The food is good, and that's why the lines are long and they are busy. I totally get the logistics of cook time vs demand. What I don't understand is how, after several months of operation in this location, the manager(s) still can't get a handle on estimating product needed. They are consistently out of sides and menu mainstays. It's easier to ask at the beginning of the order what they are out of, rather than have them tell you at the end of your order. And the problem is now extending to service items like cups and containers. Perhaps this franchisee still needs some corporate training wheels??? Finally, a disturbing trend has been happening... employees claiming that newly introduced products (e.g. Chicken Waffle Tenders) are sold out and now discontinued, only to see the location post a promo for the product on their Facebook presence. Which is it? Once these procedural problems are fixed, I will be happy to return and sing their praises. Until then, I will be suggesting that people take a pass.

Food is really good but your customer service is horrible. Not once but three times your location has gotten my order completely wrong. Missing items that were ordered, its not that hard to read off the order and pack it.

I love this restaurant's chicken and cajun style food they offer. I was excited to be the second person in line today, because they are usually so busy. After waiting 20 minutes on my order and watching other people behind me getting their food, I decided to ask why my order was not ready. Turns out, the cashier didn't bother to put my ticket up. I wasn't happy about this. All they did to rectify the situation was simply say,"sorry." Food is great, but please work on your customer service.

SLOW. We waited 40 minutes (no joke) to get two orders of chicken strips. That's it! I had never had Popeye's but have only heard good things so I was definitely excited... Chicken strips from the freezer section would have been better (and faster). And now I'm up at 4 am feeling like there's a brick in my stomach. Don't bother!

Ordered to go. By the the time I got out of there my cloths were no longer in style. Got home and only had half the chickens paid for. Won't go back. It's not much diff than KFC

  • Michael H.

In my opinion this is a place to avoid. We will never go back. They have small portion sizes, and the prices are way to high! I wanted a combo of fish and chicken, but they do not offer that option. I wonder if there are two different types of Popeyes? Several years ago I went to a Popeyes inside the West gate of Hill Air Base. It was very good, like the Popeyes I remember from the Midwest. Not sure how this place is getting any good reviews. Oh well, that is life...can't please everyone.

It's good food, but NOT worth the wait. My wife went in to order a takeout order. There was the 5th person in line and ended up waiting for 45 minutes. I was waiting in the parking lot with my 2 kids. and saw dozens of cars come and go through the drive thru, which is what we were trying to avoid, because its at least a 30 min wait. I'll wait 45 minutes for upscale dining... But NOT drive thru chicken.

Amazing chicken and shrimp! Love the poboys. The staff was quick, professional, and got our orders correct. Considering the sheer popularity and masses of people flocking to the only Popeyes chicken in Utah thats accessible outside of an airport or military base (at this time), the food is definitely worth the wait. The only reason they would be out of a particular item is because so many people have had a high demand for it, and for that, I can be extremely forgiving. When more locations open throughout the Salt Lake valley, I believe KFC and Chick-fil-a should be afraid.

We visited tonight and had numerous issues. First, an hour and a half before their lobby closed we were told we weren't allowed to walk in certain areas because it was being mopped. They were putting chairs up on tables and still needed those tables for guests. And the cherry on top: our chicken was pink in the middle. It tasted pretty good, but I'm hoping that I don't wake up with food poisoning. When we told the manager, he offered to replace it, but didn't check any of the other chicken ms continued serving it to other guests. Overall, not visiting this location again.

Service is ridiculously slow. Our number was #53. Didn't get food until after #74 was called. Eaten here twice now. This was strike three.

I grew up in the south, so I know Popeye's Chicken. I've now been to this location a couple of times and they have gotten my order wrong each time. Also, they are out of items each time I come in. I have tried to call several times, only to find that their phone number listed on the receipt is not even connected yet. I hope they can get these things fixed before too much longer. Disappointing.

Seriously? The placed was PACKED - CRAZY PACKED. I came here from CA just to eat Popeye Chicken... and to not have a place to sit and eat.. with a crazy line.. slow service.. and a bathroom w/o the seat covers... SERIOUSLY UTAH?!?! I admit the chicken had great crunch.. but again.. crappy service.. slow service and crazy long wait.. no thanks. I really wanted to be a tourist and eat at Cracker Barrel.... maybe next time.

Why are people rating the restaurant based on the long lines? That's just dumb. Here's my rating on the food itself: -Chicken is amazing. definitely recommend the spicy chicken tenders. -cajun fries are pretty much the best fries I've had -the other sides, I never really get. They are decent, but have a different taste to them. -the biscuit is a little too buttery, but somehow I crave it all the time I recommend this place to all my friends. I would choose this place over KFC or any other chicken joint anyday.

Basically a 45 minute wait for KFC quality "fast"-food. Next time I'll just go to KFC and NOT wait 45 minutes.

I would say quality wise they are on par with KFC, simply using different flavors which is nice. I ordered the following items... Spicy Tenders - These have a slight buttermilk taste to start with so I'm assuming they are using a buttermilk batter. After the initial taste the real spices and flavors come into play which include a nice level of heat without overpowering the flavors. Naked Tenders - These are a fairly heavily spiced tender, though spices are not too strong. As stand alone tenders they were ok, but would be better suited to one of the wraps or sandwich offerings they have. Mashed Potatoes - I found their potatoes to have an odd flavor to them. I wasn't able to put my finger on what it is exactly but I'm not a particular fan. Red Beans and Rice - The red beans and rice were decent. It would have been nice to get a little more flavor out of them, but the rice was well cooked and had a good consistency. Overall I consider Popeye's to be on the same general level as KFC, just using different flavors which tend to be on the spicier side (which I like). Service was friendly, but as you can imagine they are still incredibly packed. Expect it to take around an hour to get your order currently. Hopefully as things stabilize a more normal timeline can be expected.

They are still working out kinks in service, but the food is interesting and decent as far as fast food goes. The wait inside at 10:20 a.m. was not awful but wasn't lightning either. We were double charged for fries but the manager took care of it. Give them a few months and it'll be fine. Not crazy about the place because I don't like fast food (except In and Out), but their chicken tenders were spiced nicely.

First time eating at Popeye's and I loved it. The red beans and rice were delicious, it was nice to have a side dish that is not some kind of potato. We went on a Saturday afternoon at about 1 pm and it was packed as everyone else has complained. Since it is the only one open in Utah right now you can expect that. So just prepare yourself for a long wait. They are working the orders fast they just have a lot of them to fill. I loved the chicken. The crunch on the outside is much better than KFC I think. The inside of the chicken was moist. The kids nuggets were actual pieces of chicken and not the processed crap you get at some places. My recommendation is if you live close by wait awhile to go here. Maybe a sunday would be slower. I live far away but was passing through the area and I had to give it a try. Very good. I love this place and hope more will open in Utah.

On the weekend they are pretty busy, but their service is pretty quick. Their fried chicken is much better than KFC in my opinion.

First time ever eating here and will never go back. My wife ordered popcorn shrimp and chicken. She noticed that the shrimp wasn't cleaned and still had the POOP track in it. She went to the manager and complained about and the manager said we don't clean popcorn shrimp. The manager was so cheap and only returned $3.65 back to my wife which by now lost her appetite. I notice Popeyes like to give very small pieces of meat with lots of breading. KFC KFC KFC KFC has far better chicken. I never go back to this crap hole again. The manager should have refunded my wife's entire meal.

Welcome to Utah, Popeye's! I'm normally not fast food eater, but Popeye's and Jack in the Box were always the exceptions when I lived in California. This new location in Lehi is showing promise with their customer service and quality of food. Once the hype dies down, I'll look forward to some regular visits. As it stands now, it's crowded, loud, and takes forever to get your food. (It took an hour to get my order one Saturday!) Personally, I felt it was worth the wait. As far as what I recommend to eat? Their chicken tenders are perfection. I'm not a big fan of meat with bones, but I've heard good things about their regular chicken meals. The sides are nothing to write home about, however. KFC makes better biscuits and you can skip their mac & cheese. If I had to pick any of the sides, I'd go with the Cajun fries despite their lack of Cajun zest.

This review is mixed. I liked the food, but I hated the wait. We didn't go here until at least 1 month after opening (thinking the lines would have died down) and we still waited about 50 minutes to get our food. There was no room to sit down since seating capacity is only like 30-40 and there were at least 70 people in the restaurant and another 15-20 sitting on the curb outside in the sweltering heat. Good thing the fire marshal didn't stop by. While we waited, one (larger) lady even complained to the manager that she was going to pass out (and she was noticeably pale and extremely sweaty) so the manager brought out a bag of ice for her. We ordered the shrimp and the chicken fingers. I would have been satisfied with the food if I only waited a typical 5-10 minutes, but we only had 20 minutes to wait so I was upset that it took 50 minutes to receive our order. And I noticed that about 20 minutes into our wait the servers taking orders at the counter started asking customers "it will be a 20-30 minute wait, is that ok?" Why didn't they ask me? And why were they off on their estimates by 30 minutes anyway? On top of the wait, we finally received our order and I started walking out when I realized my bag was a little light. I looked in and I was missing half the order. So another 8 minutes and they got the rest of my order. Obviously they still have some kinks to work out. I'll come back in a year when the lines have died down. It's not worth a long wait for that food. And it's not really that much better than KFC. So I wouldn't drive out of my way for the food.

Popeyes is absolutely delicious. The chicken is perfectly cooked, tender, moist and flavorful. Even leftover chicken is still delicious days later. So glad this finally came to Utah!

  • Bud H.

Pretty good fast-food style fried chicken. I tend to go with the spicy as it has an extra kick and makes it that much more unique. Nothing special about the sides, but I do enjoy the red beans and rice and my daughter likes the corn on the cob. Nothing really extraordinary about this place, but it's a welcome addition to Utah, nonetheless. The nuggets are a tad below average when comparing them to Chick-Fil-A nuggets, but they've got a couple of sauces that are fairly good (e.g., mardi gras mustard and sweet heat). If you've never been to a Popeyes before, it's definitely worth trying, but I'm not sure it's worth the 30 minute or so wait, which is what I experienced at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday night. Wait until the crowds die down or you may find yourself disappointed.

Husband and I moved from the west coast, and have never had Popeye's before. When it opened, we could barely get home because there were so many people and cars (very stupidly parked, I might add) and figured it must be good. It is really good chicken. We both agree it is miles above KFC. Our favorites are the spicy tenders and cajun fries. The biscuits are also very tasty. The price is a litte cheaper than KFC, and the chicken isn't nearly as greasy as KFC. We're fans of Popeye's now, but we will definitely wait a little while until they slow down to eat there again. The average wait times we've had is about 20 minutes, so not terrible. The chicken is crispy and stays that way, even after refrigerating and reheating, and tasty. The fries are crunchy and flavorful. Also, I want to compliment the staff. They were still cheerful and nice after working all day with a solid stream of people. One lady told us she had worked for 48 hours straight, and she was still super nice. Well done, guys.

Got the chicken nugget combo with a biscut and mac n cheese. Southern heaven in my mouth. It was all just amazing. The only bad thing I have to say is that they need a bigger dining area. Because it was super full. And that really is a good thing in disguise - people can't stay away from such delicious food. I can't blame them for having such good food that their lobby is constantly full.

The food is amazing and the service is better than any fast food and comparable to a very nice restaurant! Brittany and the rest of the team will make sure that you are happy! WE LOVE THEM!

I hope they add many more locations of Popeye's to our great state of Utah! I had the popcorn shrimp, they were nicely seasoned. My husband had the buffalo chicken bites (or something like that), I loved them! I wish I would have ordered this. The biscuit was buttery and delicious. I can't wait to go eat here again!

I've been waiting years for Popeye's to finally come to Utah. I don't think anyone can give a bad review for how busy a place is, it just shows how popular it is. I went around 8:30 on a Wednesday night. Not super busy and the order was ready in less than two minutes. The chicken was perfect and the mashed potatoes were great. When other stores open this store will calm down and be much easier to go to. My advice would be to go at odd hours if you can.

This is the first time I've been to a Popeyes in Utah. This certainly should not come as any major surprise in of itself since there are only two others in the state currently, one in Terminal B at the SLC airport, the other is in Hill AFB! I have had Popeyes in the past other places though, in fact I recall the last time was in Atlanta airport on a layover. However, I wanted to try this in non airport and in Utah flavor, and after seeing the sign on I-15 while heading to the outlet malls we decided to pop our eyes in (yeah that was meant to be the bad bun it ended up being) and check it out. One thing that surprised me was just how busy this place was, sure it was Saturday, but I'm talking past the lunch rush, around 2pm. It was hopping to say the least. The line to get our order in while reasonably long wasn't any major obstacle and service was friendly, though finding a table was certainly more of a challenge but we were able to before our food order was ready. From ordering to us getting our food was about 15 minutes. As others have said, the drive through may be a better option. The chicken itself is fine, you can tell it is of decent quality as far as fast food goes, so nothing wrong there. I was however disappointed the breading on the chicken tenders had no real inherent flavor, and thus you rely on dipping sauces, which let's face it at any fast food place are just fake massed produced chemical concoctions! The loaded chicken wrap was actually pretty tasty, but even with spicy chicken it relied on the beans and rice (a nice complement) to provide flavor, it had no actual spice to it to speak of. The fries on the other hand were actually pretty good, and you'll not hear me say that generally of many fast food chains. Very nicely seasoned and crispy. For me, for overall flavor alone I still have to say KFC original chicken has the edge, but beyond that I suspect Popeyes is more healthy, well so far as you can get when it comes to fried chicken, certainly its less greasy and messy to eat, and I'd certainly like to see more of these around and get to try some more items on the menu. So this Popeyes gets a solid 3 from me, and I certainly advise anyone to give it a try if they haven't had a chance to yet and find themselves in this area.

Every time I go here the service is good but the food is awesome!!! They have these all over Cali and a few in Utah now. This Lehi location is the only one that taste as good as the locations out of state :).

Waited for 17 min for food in my car after going through the drive thru. Terrible service and food!

  • Bret G.

I love Popeye's! The spicy chicken is great, but the real treat are the biscuits. Plus plenty of sides to choose from. I wish they had some kind of greens though so I settle for the green beans. The red beans and rice are delicious. I've never had to wait more than a few minutes. I'll be so happy when the new locations open up in Salt Lake Valley

    (5)
  • Jim H.

As good as fast food gets. Red beans and rice are just plain good. Here's the thing that we all know about fast food; if it's fresh it can be amazing. This location is completely packed all the time, so it's always fresh. We took this take out from Lehi all the way to cottonwood heights to eat and it was still too hot to eat. Let me be perfectly clear about this, it's fast food. This will not compare to some of our local fried chicken options, but for fast food connoisseurs like myself, it's the greatest thing in Utah since Culver's

  • Nick W.

Zero stars was not available, horrible service my son wanted cocktail sauce with his shrimp, manager told him he needed a quarter.... Uhhhhh NO , so I went to the counter she informed me they were out ,.. Marginal food at best .. Crappy sides

  • Zuhadi Z.

Don't tell anyone but this is my guilty pleasure. I love the crispy outer coating, especially with that tinge of hotness if I choose the spicy bonafide. The meat inside is juicy, probably due to their slow cooking that they advertised. They make me want to go to Lousiana. The chicken pieces size can be irregular though with big breasts but small drumsticks and wings which look more like from a quail than a chicken. For sides, the coleslaw and mashed potatoes are alright. The biscuit is a little dry. This place is always super crowded on lunch time on weekdays due to many companies nearby, which means longer ordering line and tricky parking. Try to get there before 12pm to avoid the crowd.

  • Lara L.

Listen the food might be ok but the service is horrible, here I'm seating in my car waiting for my order after I went thru' the drive thru' she gets my card charges it then she tells me: "there is a wait for you order of 14 minutes so I'm going to have you park and wait." And I'm like wait why didn't you tell me before you got my credit card? She goes: "oh well I just found out." what? I'm parked waiting for it because I already wasted my time waiting for the line in the drive thru' but if she would've told me before I would've gone to the other 10 or 12 restaurant around this plaza ugh after $36 dollar for fried chicken that is nothing special really is just "fast"? O_o here I am waiting in my car I'm not sure how she's going to find me but we'll see how ugly this is going to get... Ugh my luck....

Higher quality fast food chicken. I love their spicy chicken and the blackened ranch sauce. Their popcorn shrimp are also a solid choice.

  • Joy M.

SERVICE is beyond HORRIBLE. The food is great but it doesn't compensate how terrifyingly horrible the service is. Here are examples: -if you order extra biscuit through the drive up make sure you triple check it, chances are you won't get your extra biscuits even they say it's in there. -for 3 piece chicken expect to get three wings, the staff thinks it's 'normal'. -WORST and this is when we decided to switch to Zaxby's, we ordered popcorn shrimp they told us they need to cook more so we need to pull up and wait 5mins. Guess what, 20mins later we decided to go in to check it and the 'manager' sitting (literally sitting) behind the counter was clueless and they didn't know there was a pending order so we were waiting for nothing. The best part, she didn't say a thing-Order#59 4/25/2015 around 9pm. If you think of customer service this location of Popeyes in Lehi SUCKS BIG TIME. If we need our Popeyes-fix we will drive an extra 15 mins to go to their Midvale location.

Popeyes makes KFC look like a dumpster dive. The skin is flaky, crunchy and buttery and maintains a tender, juicy meat. Biting into a piece of this chicken is an orgasm of textures and flavors, the sharp crunch of the skin, blasting your mouth with seasoning and buttery warmth as it folds over the plump, meaty chicken oozing hot juice down your chicken hole. The spicy chicken does not hit you in the face, but unfolds slowly and maintains a steady, even warmth. I was also very impressed with this particular location. If you know the area you know it gets super busy, cars jammed everywhere and traffic lanes backed up a 1/4 mile just to make a turn. I came it at lunch time on the Friday of Memorial Day Weekend and the lot was packed. Cars at the drive through were almost snaking totally out of the lot and into the street. I decided to try my luck anyway and wait. The staff here turned over another car about every 30 seconds to a minute. There were maybe 8 cars in front of me and I sat in line for about 5 minutes. It was the most impressive drive though I've experienced in recent memory. The biscuits were off today, overcooked so the outside was too crispy and the inside was a little dried out. The mac n' cheese is also very much institutional style (RE: heavily processed), but my two year old digs it because he doesn't know any better. Also, I gotta knock them a little bit for high prices. If you're a man of hearty appetite like myself, you can easily come out of here spending over $10 for your fast food.

This was my first time here. We ordered take out for a family picnic and the service was fast and friendly. The chicken had a very nice seasoned batter and different than any other fast food chicken I've ever had. It was highly recommended to me but I'm not sure if I would go back.

Popeyes in Lehi happens to be my son's favorite fast food joint in the area & we visit it more than I'd like to admit. And while I always leave feeling less healthy than when I entered...the chicken tenders is our go to order. Crisp and never soggy. Spicy or regular. Our favorite sides are the red beans & rice and Cajun fries. And if you like spicy, Be sure to grab a few packets of Louisiana Hot Sauce. This place is always packed during lunch on Saturday but is much more manageable on a Sunday afternoon.

Best fried chicken, period. KFC doesn't hold a candle to Popeye's. Juicier, better seasoning and flavor. No depression bowls here.

I grew up on KFC but when Popeyes came out my family switched. So Popeyes is a childhood food I have loved for many years. The 2 PC combo is my staple. Try the honey sauce on the biscuit--you'll thank me later. I alternate between the fries and the mashed potatoes. Yum! The loaded chicken wrap (mild or spicy) is a great filler for under $2 per wrap. Can't beat that! The tenders are very delicious. The BBQ sauce and ranch are my go-to sauces for dipping. Hubby loves the shrimp po'boy sandwich. I've never had it, so I can't personally recommend it, but it does look nice and filling. This location at Thanksgiving Point was clean and the employees friendly and fast. Can't ask for anything more! Go to Popeyes. It's delicious.

Okay once again, love the food here, have been eating at Popeyes most of my life. But I can not handle the slow slow service not the lack of caring knowledgeable staff!!! You get my order wrong and don't say sorry just tell me that they will get that out to me when it is ready!! First I waited forever for my food and then waited for the rest of it while the first got cold!!! Really people? I doubt I will come back to a Popeyes in utah again. For my time and money spent ... Not worth it!!!

  • Ruben A.

The food is great! Gotta love Popeye's. But two stars off for the horrible layout of the store parking and drive-thru. The parking lot is a complete mess. It borders the Mexican fast food place right next door, and Popeye's has more customers. Good luck trying to find parking. Lots of people are now parking in the adjoining plot of land. DO NOT park near the drive through. If so, you'll have to wait until the drive thru line dies down or until someone is nice enough to back their car out from the drive thru and let you out. The wait time in-store is wayy to long. Last time I waited 30 minutes for a 3 piece and a 2 piece meal. I wasn't the only one. I only go about once every 1-2 months just because I have to plan some time to get in and out.

The Popeyes experience I had at the airport was better than this experience. Enjoyed the mashed potatoes and gravy, cajun fries, and thought the chicken was decent, but not as good as my airport meal. In the end, I haven't been to KFC in a long time and after this visit, I'm not really ready to commit to a relationship with Popeyes either. Story of my life. ;)

Sad. Food was yummy as expected but the service - blah. Ordered the $5 tender deal. Was told one of the sides had to be fries. Fries not mandatory in the add on tv or the poster in the store. Had to push the issue with the order taker before she would do two sides of our choosing. Then we were told we would have to pay for an extra sauce. Other Popeyes we've been to auto give 2 sauces without asking. Only got one biscuit on time. Could have been a better experience.

In what world is a 40 minute wait for fried chicken acceptable? I've been to this location on several occasions at varying times of the week always expecting to see a lighter line. The wait time is in no way indicative of the quality of food. It's not impressive. They're just completely incapable of running an efficient operation. If they weren't enough, theirs prices are ridiculous. 1.79 for small cole slaw-I measured it out at the house. It's 1/3 of a cup!!!! Seriously?!?! The large sides are barely now than a cup for 3.89!!!!! Get real.

Avoid this place! Saturday, 2:20 pm - more than 60 people standing and waiting for their orders! My simple order for two pieces of chicken took 31 minutes. This appeared to be typical for everybody standing in the lobby waiting. More than 60 people standing - other people sitting at the tables. What awful service! Postscript a few days later: Since I wrote my initial review I have found out this is the FIRST Popeye's in Utah and recently opened. They are swamped because of that. My advice stands: Skip this place until things settle down. Popeye's Chicken is good, but its not *that* good.

I have seen the Popeyes commercials and decided to try some deep southern fried food to go. Neighboring restaurants had long lines at their drive thru's which should have been a clue as I was the only car pulling up to order. Four piece chicken for me with some sides and the seafood po'boy for my wife who loves a good sandwich. Made it home to find the order was correct and sat down for some good eats. What a disappointment and what a disaster. My chicken almost seemed musty, as if it had been sitting for a long time and I couldn't find any flavor anywhere. The chicken breast was as dry as a parched desert and I barely found one bean in my side of beans and rice. The Cajun fries were greasy, tasteless and a mess in the bottom of the sack. Then, to top it off, the po'boy made my wife so sick she was up most of the night rushing to the bathroom. Am I missing something here? My sister-in-law lives in New Orleans and I have enjoyed some of the best food offered there. Yet, I wouldn't feed the food from Popeyes in Lehi to a dog for fear it might get sick. Maybe Popeyes shouldn't advertise food from Louisiana as they are giving the state a bad reputation. It's too bad there aren't negative star ratings as I would give it a negative four.

I see no reason to knock the place because there are long lines. That's not the employees fault. The line looked fairly short until clowns like the lady in front of me does the "I was sure I ordered it" twice. One time she was told it would take a while. "No problem" she says. So, the clown takes 15 minutes of time sitting in front of the car window while people wait. My order took about 60 seconds to pay for and take away. I got a lot more audible book listened too. I also agree it's really on a par with KFC, just different. It will be nice to have it as an option. I would not drive far to get there, but since I work in Thanksgiving Park, I like it. The mashed potatoes seem to be an improvement on KFC. Chicken is just different. Red beans on rice -- innocuous. No deserts that call out to me. Cole slaw not quite as good as KFC. it's a welcome addition to the landscape, but like Krispy Kreme and In N' Out before it, the lines will die down and it will just become another chain in the larger landscape of chains that Utahns love so much.

Fried. Very fried. Ordered onion rings - ate 4 of 6. Upset stomach for a full day. I know it was the onion rings. My way of eating is generally super clean, fat and fried free, and all natural, no preservatives or GMO's. Now I know how the guy in "Supersize Me" felt.

Even though the location was very busy (we tried hitting before the traditional lunch rush by going at 1130), they still moved through the line very quickly, all things considered, and the food was also delivered quickly. The dining area was clean as well, despite the high throughput of customers. I'm sad to see this location's low average score just because of the novelty of a Popeyes this far west in America. As for the food: delicious! I had never tried Popeye's before and the chicken tenders were just that - tender, warm, tasty. The coleslaw was good, the cajun fries were VERY good, and the barbeque sauce had a bit of a kick that was a nice change from typically bland fast food. I will definitely be going to Popeye's again!

Popeye's is a pilgrimage. There is trials, masses, and at the end, death. Even on a usually tame Thursday the place was elbow to elbow crowds. The employees were too beaten down by the endless hordes of customers to come across as either friendly or grouchy. They shuffled around like postal worker zombies. We ordered a plate of spicy chicken, a kids meal, and a po'boy, and we waited. We waited for a table, then got one and waited more for food. When is got there the order was filled correctly. We partook, and I tell you, it was almost exactly like eating KFC, but longer lines. Don't get me wrong, it was fine. My only complaints are the excess grease and the way by body tried to reject it. I felt like I swallowed an oiled cannon ball that sat in my belly all night. If there were nothing else to eat, I would go back, but they are building a Mountain West Burrito right there, and there's a Pollo Loco down the road--I can't imagine ever needing to go back.

Popeyes serves up good chicken at this Lehi location. I particularly enjoy their spicy chicken and their mashed potatoes and gravy. Is it the best fried chicken you've every tasted? Probably not. Will it make you swear off burgers and fries forever? No. Will you begin speaking with a Southern drawl after eating it? Maybe... For those "haters" who disparage Popeyes because it is "over hyped" or "not worth the wait" let me say this. We ate at this location shortly after it opened and waited over an hour for our food. You read that right, ONE HOUR! It was most definitely NOT worth waiting. But you can't knock down a restaurant for being popular. We ate at this location a few weeks later and there was no wait and we promptly received our food. It was worth that wait. However you slice it, if you want tasty fried chicken and other eats, Popeyes is a good choice.

We've heard fantastic things about popeyes. It was good but not great. The Chicken was very plain with not a lot of spices. The shrimp were good and they gave you A LOT of them. The sides were good. The Biscuits were especially a delight. I'd like to come back and try more of there menu. Service was great. One of the downsides was the size of the dining area. It filled up quickly with only about 15-20 people there.

I will start off by saying a really enjoy popeyes that's why I've given 2 stars food is always good but I've take the other 3 away due to the slow service and petty charges nothing bugs me more than charging money when you want more than one container of sauce. Which would be fine but they charge when you want any sauce with their wraps or sandwiches so they charge 7 dollars for a sandwich and think it's justified to charge for sauce after they took you 15 minutes to get your food. This being said other popeyes I've been to in the valley are fast with great service and don't charge for sauce so I will spend the extra 10 minutes in the car before going here again.

A formal welcome to the newest national chain kid on the block. I'm glad to see the days of your hour-long lines have faded. We waited 20 minutes one time, otherwise our wait times have been around 10 minutes. I think they do a great job getting all the MAVs through the drive-through line. Prior to eating here, I was most curious about Popeye's chicken. So, here's the bottom line: Popeye's chicken tastes better, fresher, and is certainly less salty and greasy than KFC's. It's more expensive, but not by enough to send anyone back to KFC due to price. I can't imagine any fan of southern fried chicken not liking their spicy Bonafide Chicken. Even the mild version is delicious. Although they're famous for chicken, for me Popeye's is all about the sides! Red beans and rice, southern green beans, Cajun fries or spiced rice...the only thing they're missing is okra. My personal favorite is the red beans and rice, and have made the late-night Lehi drive to get only that. It's one of my most PMS'y guilty food pleasures. Their version of mashed potatoes and cajun gravy is shockingly delicious, with no fake/chemical taste like the mashed+gravy at KFC. I suspect that Popeye's uses REAL potatoes. I've been too busy with the other sides to try the cole slaw or corn. I'm very disappointed that I still haven't tried their biscuits. They're always out. Always. This I do find unacceptable, but in such a twisted way that I almost love Popeye's more for it. Their lack serves only to make me want them more. Each time I hit them up, I just know this will be the visit where the biscuit and I will finally have our tryst. No fluffy joy, to date...(Update 9/14/13 - Had the biscuits. They were pretty okay - nothing special. I won't feel bad in the future when they're inevitably out.) Oh, and they have real Southern Sweet Tea and Sweet Potato Pie, y'all. They also offer Fanta flavors on tap! I love the Strawberry and Peach. Drive-through service is the only way to go here. The dining area is tiny, and always full of misbehaving kids and their oblivious parents. Stay in your car and enjoy lower blood pressure.

Popeye's is FAST FOOD chicken. So I'll rate it in terms of FAST FOOD. On that basis, it's a solid 4 stars. The chicken is freshly cooked and piping hot when it gets to you. And it's delicious! I had two sides, mashed potatoes with cajun gravy and macaroni and cheese. Both were really tasty and, again, FRESH. They may be pre-fab and/or highly processed, but they're fresh out of the heat source and obviously haven't been sitting in a warming tray for 3-4 days... (I'm looking at you, KFC!). The fervor and accompanying "I'm in Utah so I HAVE TO BE FIRST TO TRY THE NEW (insert national chain here)" attitude are gone, so you can get food here just as quickly and easily as the Del Taco next door. As far as I'm concerned, there's a new king of fast food fried chicken in town. And its name is Popeye's.

Story of my life. ;)

Waited for 17 min for food in my car after going through the drive thru. Terrible service and food!

Fried.

Not very good service, fries were soggy and forgot biscuit. Probably won't go to this location again

While saying that compared to KFC this is pretty good is true, it's like saying KFC is pretty good compared to dog crap. Was that really chicken under all that breading?

As good as fast food gets. Red beans and rice are just plain good. Here's the thing that we all know about fast food; if it's fresh it can be amazing. This location is completely packed all the time, so it's always fresh. We took this take out from Lehi all the way to cottonwood heights to eat and it was still too hot to eat. Let me be perfectly clear about this, it's fast food. This will not compare to some of our local fried chicken options, but for fast food connoisseurs like myself, it's the greatest thing in Utah since Culver's

  • Casey L.

  • Dustin C.

  • John G.
