We used to go to Ranchitos all the time in Layton and there wasn't much Mexican food here til valeries set one up. We stopped going to Ranchitos because their food are never fresh. Valeries makes their food fresh every time. We at least come here once or twice a week for breakfast then dinner. They make it so good. I've ordered rolled tacos, chicken plate then asada plate. Their breakfast burritos are way better than Ranchitos in Layton, did I mention it's cheap coming here for better quality food than Ranchitos. The people who work there are really awesome people and they would memorize my order and ask me if it was the usual. That is one great customer service right there. Trust me you won't be disappointed!

We chose to come to Valerie's after reading the reviews. As they mentioned, the decor is non-existent. But you kind if expect that with "greasy-spoon" Mexican joints. If I want decor, I'll eat at home. We ordered the taco/enchilada plate, 2 enchiladas, and a beef torta. The tacos and enchiladas were awesome. Great flavor. However, the cheese on the enchiladas wasn't fully melted, which was kind of a bummer. Cheesy hot lava goo is the best part of a cheese enchilada, and that element was missing. The refried beans were real, not poured out of a can. The beef torta was kind if light on the beef, but the flavors of the peppers, onions, tomatoes and guacamole was really good! With tortas, it always comes down to the bread. Valerie's rolls are extremely good! Light and soft, so it doesn't overpower the fresh ingredients. Had the cheese in the enchiladas been truly melted, this would have been 4 stars.

We ordered the steak torts set, carne asada rice bowl and beef chimichanga. Everything was amazing. Price very reasonable as well. I would eat here at least once a week. Drive Thru open 24 hours.

The food rocks! Been here a half dozen times since it opened a few months ago and tried different items all great! Menu items are similar to other local Mexican restaurants but seem a lot less greasy and much more flavorful and seasoned better. All and all great authentic (for a gringo) Mexican food! Definitely worth a visit! If any negatives, my wife says the decor is a bit bland and boring, but that's just her decorative eye for things speaking I'm sure ...

Delicious Mexican food and good prices. I have been there a few times since it opened and it is now my go-to place for mexican food. I love that they use shredded chicken in the chimichanga (and it is HUGE). My 8 year-old really likes the bacon breakfast burrito (although it is on the small side). I'd say my only complaint is that you have to wait like 10 minutes for the food at the drive through, but you can't really have mexican "fast" food. I have ordered the same food from another Mexican place in Clearfield and this is about 25% cheaper. Getting some tacos tonight for dinner! Cheaper, closer to home, and very good tasting food.

My husband has been here a few times. He brought home some takeout a few weeks ago and it was awesome so the Saturday after Thanksgiving we were out on the town and stopped in. The takeout a few weeks ago- I had the chicken plate and it was fresh and delicious! The tortillas were so awesome! The beef chimichanga I had just a few days ago was even better! I had to come in and write a review. I am impressed with Valerie's! So let me tell you about the beef chimi... The tortilla was so fresh and crisp... Done to perfection.. Golden brown. Inside there were chunks of shredded beef that just melted in your mouth. I gave a few chunks to my hubby and he said it was the best flavored Mexican beef he'd ever tasted. There were refried beans in the chimi but they didn't over-power the other flavors. There was also sour cream and guacamole over the top of the chimi, which I should have ordered on the side so the crispness of the chimi would not be compromised. I love a crispy chimi! The salsa bar was very good as well... I highly recommend Valerie's special salsa... Delicious! What else? Well, I am sure there will be updates because I will be going back to try the carne asada (sp?) and the carnitas!

Definitely more flavor than some other mexican restaurants out there. I got the beef taco and cheese enchilada plate. Maybe a little heavy on the lettuce and I didn't see any tomatoes on my taco but I liked the fresh homemade taco shell. Enchilada wasn't all the way melted but still good flavor. Definitely would be better if cheese was melted all the way and was gooey. Mild green salsa was yummy. Seems pretty clean. Decent prices. Friendly service.

My family and I decided to give this restaurant a shot and we were pleasantly surprised. I ordered a chicken Tortes and a hard shell chicken taco. Both were fresh and tasty. The bread on the torte was soft and delicious. My wife ordered a grilled chicken rice bowl and it was fantastic...so good that we ordered another one to go. My son ordered a ham breakfast burrito, which was great and very big. The restaurant is much like a Betos or Rancharitos but the food seemed more fresh and a higher quality. I would absolutely recommend this place! The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is because it's a bit run down in the lobby and bathrooms.

Great carne asada tacos, fresh crisp taco shells, and great daily specials. Worth the extra money over taco stands

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
