This is the best Chinese restaurant I have tried in Colorado plateau area. They have Cantonese cooks but make good dishes for different types of Chinese food.

Good food. Miserable quantity in dinner bowl.

My husband and I just stopped for the night at the Sun & Sand, and were tired and more than ready for dinner. My parents had recommended a barbecue place, but neither of us wanted to drive any more than we already had, and Luo's was literally right next door. We had the Lucky Special (orange chicken and cashew chicken) with ham fried rice, wontons, egg rolls and fried shrimp, plus egg drop soup It was a little pricey for the two of us, but the food was really tasty. I wouldn't say it was as good as the Chinese food I grew up with in Washington state, but it was better than most Chinese restaurants at home in Tucson. We were the only people there and it was about 7. The owner was very sweet and chatty, which was nice. The waitress (her daughter?) kept our iced teas full and served our food quickly while it was still hot, fresh and yummy. I'd definitely recommend Luo's if you're in the area with a yen for Chinese.

Best Chinese food in southern Utah. Portions were large and actually legit and not fake Chinese. Service was not the best but decent enough. In reality when you're on the road your options are limited but sometimes places like this help you go on. I got the generals chicken combo and it was better than most Chinese chicken I've had

This is the only Chinese restaurant you can find in 500 miles around the East Zion. As tourist, I was expecting some typical American style Chinese food, but our family was delighted with a quite traditional delicious Chinese food. They really have a good chief. They also have some Chinese vegetables you normally won't see in the grocery stores, and they order and ship these Chinese vegetables all way from Las Vegas weekly. Strong recommended!

We had a good meal here on our way to Page. I enjoyed the twice cooked pork with extra spices. Good flavor. My husband did not like his shrimp dish but loved their potstickers--delicious! It is reasonably pricy for the area.

The lights were on, the sign said "open" but all the doors were locked! Could see no one thru the windows, 1pm, on a Saturday!

Love the food, it's great to find a place where they know how to add amazing flavor to every dish!

Nice food. Good variety in vegetarian. If you want nice Chinese food in small town while going or coming back from Antilope canyon to Salt Lake City.

Very, very bland food. I'm visiting from CA and should've known better than to expect good Asian food in small town Utah.

I am Chinese and this is the worse Chinese food I've eaten in a very long time. Not only that, I also found a mosquito in my soup.

We all know how customer reviews can range, complete disaster to extreme delicacy. I decided to brave the water at Lou's and review appropriately. Ordered: shrimp and veggies and kung pao chicken. 2 sides of eggrolls. For 2 of course! My results: quite tasty! Food was take-out. It arrived in a timely manner. Shrimp portions adequate, with sides of low mein and rice. Chicken could be cooked a bit longer, but sauces were tasty amd vegetables were fresh. Entres came with sweet and sour soup which was as advertised...sweet an sour. I am a big guy. 6'4" 250 and i am stuffed. To the 100 lb asians in the group that i read a review for, I have only 1 question, how much do you people eat? Remember, this is Kanab, not San Francisco. Thanks Lou for your prompt tasty dinner.

One of the more decent restaurants in Kanab. Portion sizes are not consistent but I've never left there hungry. It is a rather odd and amusing place. The restaurant has never been crowded when I've been there. The family that owns it yells at each other. I don't think they are fighting, it's just how they communicate. They were also playing Christmas music in late October. But the food is good. It's also the only place in town that delivers. I always get the Kung Pao Tofu and I really like the sauce. Egg rolls are not very good and the lo mein is greasy, so I don't recommend the individual combo.

Delicious! I had the Kung Pao Tofu. Will be back for sure! Hope they are busy in the summer so they will stay a while in Kanab.

arriving the restaurant around 8 pm at Christmas, it was closed . However, I still get my to- go food, considering the whole town was closed except Mac. I am saved from having fast food in Christmas Eve. The food is OK , the hot n sour soup is awful. I am very grateful for the service though.

I use to come to this place regularly because they had an okay lunch menu, that was a decent price. Then they jacked the lunch and dinner menu up $2 but everything was the same. If they weren't making enough money before they definantly aren't now cause I don't think they get much community support because they keep raising the price. Honestly I'm surprised this place has survived for so long in kanab! I also would come here just to get a big bowl of the hot n sour soup, but they raised the price on that too :( and I think changed the recipe a bit cause it isn't as good! Too bad I'm not paying $7 for a bowl of water and veggies.

You know a Chinese restaurant is going to be good if there's weekly menus written only in Chinese taped to its walls! My family and I were visiting the national parks in this area and happened to stumble across this gem. Didn't think we'd find something so good and authentic out here! Good prices, quick friendly service, family-run, authentic Chinese dishes (ordered off the menus taped to the wall), enough said! Strongly recommend and will definitely visit again if in the area!

Now i have finished my one-month trip in the national parks and started to write the reviews, the first thing i wanted is to share with people who are traveling in the Kanab and looking for Chinese food is: don't go to this restaurant coz it is a ripe-off . This is my first yelp review- I normally do not have time to write stuff unless the matter is really outrageous or fantastic. In this case, definitely the former. This place is a rip -off if you are tourists. I said this because while we were eating there, we saw people who look like local residents and repeat customers, seem ok with the service and the volume of their dishes were good. i suspect this place has double standards for residents and tourists based on what we observed and what we experienced. We went to this place in early June after we finished our hiking in Zion. We definitely were very tourist alike:we wore hiking clothes and had cameras with us. We immediately felt unpleasant once we sat down and saw the signs on the wall. "$1 additional charge for outlet" and there are also restrictions if you are using international credit card and card with reward points and cash rebate. One of us went to their rest room and she said there is a sign saying they charge money for restroom if you are not their customer. Of course, the restaurant has no obligations to recharge your battery and let you use the bath if you are not eating here, those signs still make you feel somewhat unwelcomed and annoyed. After traveling to so many places in the west and other areas of U.S., I've never seen any place like Luo's cafe who is anxiously trying to monetize everything they have and avoid any disadvantage they might get into. Since they are the only Chinese restaurant within 30 miles, we had to stick to our plan here. We had totally six people and we ordered six dishes. As we know normally the restaurants in tourism place serve small in size, we purposely ordered the " large" size and order all dishes with meat. Even we set this expectation, we were still shocked when they brought the dishes. The actual serving could only be called size " small" compared with the ones in most other Chinese restaurants. And even worse, we can literally count how many pieces of meat in each meal - they were so small in amount. It costed us around 95 dollars ( around $16 per person) and we paid in cash. We had to go to supermarket afterwards to pick up some finger food because the size of the dishes were so small . We are four 100- pound small Asian girls plus 2 Asian guys and we could not enjoy a decent amount of food in a $96 Chinese meal!! And the taste is just ok. We left the restaurant feeling a completely ripped off. And we are not cheap customers. We tipped very generously during the trip as 9 out of 10 restaurants we went in the Utah and Arizona area are very good and reasonable. Since we were in a vocation mood, we were willing to pay more and tolerant with food quality and volume. Luo's cafe, is the only one which annoyed us, because of the way they charge customers and play double standards. To be fair, I do think their place is clean and the dishes come very fast. So I gave 1 star for the dining environment. In short, don't go to this place if you are tourist. don't go to this place unless you must have eat Chinese food in that area.

Stopped on our way to Zion; my daughter was craving shrimp fried rice. Tails still on the shrimp, otherwise she loved it. Sweet and sour pork was good, but cashew chicken was bland. Family liked the egg rolls, they were crispy. The place itself was reasonably clean. Not a place I'd go for ambiance, but if craving Chinese this works.

From the start, we had what looked to be someone's kid wait on us. He awkwardly sat us down. We ordered our food and it took about 40 mins to get our food. Once we got the food, it was pretty good. Pretty generous portions, bit the service was sub-par. All in all, it wasn't the most terrible experience I've ever had, but I'm sure there are plenty others that are better.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
