Best barbecue in town! I get hungry just thinking about it. Ask for Michael F. to be your waiter. He is awesome!

Could not be more pleased with this place! Serving sizes were HUGE, prices were reasonable, and flavors were delicious! I wanted to go "light" and ordered a turkey sandwich. The thing that came out was of monstrous proportions. I could have easily only eaten half (and been stuffed!) and saved the other half for lunch the next day. Instead, I shared with my twin daughters (who like to eat off of Mom's plate). That's the last note I'd like to make - this place is incredibly child-friendly! The staff were friendly and courteous and we had a great dining experience!

Nice family style atmosphere (not the hole in the wall BBQ joint I've come to know & love). Extremely quick service. Garden variety cole slaw. BBQ beans are good, some brisket chunks mixed in. Very tasty cornbread muffins were complimentary...with surprise jalepenos inside; awesome! Goodwood branded sauce at every table; thick molasses type...Sweet&Spicy hit the spot. I ordered 2meats with pulled pork & sliced brisket. Portions could have been bigger, but the typical eater will be satisfied. Both meats came with a dollop of regular sauce, which I scraped off to make room for spicy. Both meats clearly smoked & thankfully fresh (didn't sit under a heating lamp). Would have liked more bark on the brisket but their tenderness made up for it. Happy with the pork as it had meaty strands (instead of mushy clumps); good indication it's not sitting in a bin of sloppy wetness waiting for the next ladle). My only complaint is the pork could have been hotter upon arrival, but that's just being picky. All in all, a good place to bring clients or for a nice family meal. I'll likely return.

Worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant in the past year. I was part of a table of 8, after being promptly seated that is where the positive experience stopped. Once we were seated I felt like we were toddlers trying to get a distracted moms attention. We were one of 6 tables in the restaurant yet even getting a drink order took 15 minutes, and forget about refills. Three of us have ate at this chain before and are big fans of the smoked kielbasa so we proceeded to order that, however when it came out it was drier than the desert. It usually holds a smokey flavor and is full of soft and tender meat, however tonight it was like eating beef jerky cooked in a microwave. Since our waiter was nowhere to be found I got up from the table to find a manager, after explaining the situation to him it was prevalent that he either does not care or does not know food, or maybe both. Immediately after listening to the issue and even touching the meat his response was " Its always like that, that's how it is supposed to be. I can get you another plate but it will be the same, you should order something you know you like." Obviously he missed the part where we have eaten here before or maybe he even missed the fact that when touching the meat it was like holding a Oscar Mayer hot dog that cooked in Hiroshima. To try to rescue the night we chose to order bowls of Chili since it would be quick, easy and hard to mess up. Yet even that was too elementary for this staff to handle. Upon receiving our three bowls of chili not just one but all three were cold. I'm not talking cold as in luke warm, no, it was as if I took a can of chili out of a refrigerator dumped it into a bowl and put a dollop of sour cream on top. Of course after the chili was dropped off the manager and our server were nowhere to be found. Anyone with eyesight could see our pile of empty glasses that had not been refilled since we had been seated 55 minutes ago on the end of the table, even though we had been promised they were one the way. The wait staff must have been driving to Atlanta to get us some fresh cokes from the factory. We will never be returning to this restaurant again, McDonalds at 3AM could provide better service.

I have to give Goodwood a 5 star. I have tried soo many other barbecue places and this is the only place that has delivered on both meat flavor, barbecue flavor, and yummy sides! I got the 3 meat combo, I chose barbecue chicken, pulled pork, and smoked beef. It also comes with 2 sides and I got steak fries and potato salad. It was all so good! The smoked flavor their meat has is amazing. The chicken and pulled pork were so juicy and flavorful. I'm not usually a pulled pork fan but it was the best meat there! I love pulled pork now!The smoked beef was good. Reminds me of brisket. The fries and potato salad are my favorite sides! I have tried the coleslaw before and it's good too. The barbecue sauce is prob the best sauce in town! My friend I was with thought it was a little too sweet but I love it! Definitely my favorite barbecue restaurant and I would recommend it to everyone!

Traveling thru UT, stopped here on recommendation from a stranger on the street (yep, literally). It was within walking distance of our hotel & we needed to stretch our legs. Got a table for 2 right away even on a busy weekday night. The restaurant was hopping busy! Ordered a 1/2-rack of ribs & the brisket. Oh. My. Gosh. *THAT* good! I was licking my fingers! Moist, delish meat & just the right amount of sauce. I ordered a couple of their fruh-fruh-drinks. Gave me quite a buzz AND it was like drinking dessert! Our waiter was personable, attentive, busy, and made sure we were taken care of! I did skip dessert here cuz I was stuffed, but their menu looked devine. Back to the food....having eaten Texas BBQ, this place had me at Hello! On our waddle back to the hotel, we came across a little strip-type mall area that had a dessert shop with cupcakes. I'm a sucker for trying cupcakes....plus, we were exercising, right? So stopped in at the Sweet Tooth Fairy. Absolute YUM. But I'll write a separate review. And AGAIN whazzup with Yelp? I have pix of our plates AND the drinks! No way to put them onto Yelp.

Prime rib had excellent flavor, ribs were tender and smoked to perfection. I love their smashed potatoes and you get a huge portion of them :) also, after ordering, our food came out within 5 mins! We are definitely coming back...

This place definitely has the best BBQ ribs I have ever had in my life! I have tried lots of different places but none can compare to the quality and flavor of their ribs.

Looking for "Salt Lake City Cuisine" and the closest I can come up with is something called "Fry Sauce", which is basically Ketchup and Mayo kluged together and sometimes a little sweet relish is added. Apparently Utah didn't get the message, 'cos the rest of the world calls that "Thousand Island Dressing". Even the mighty "In-N-Out" doles it out calling it "spread". Not a bad adjunct to fries, although In-N-Out fries truly need nothing but salt. I bring up "Fry Sauce" 'cos an order of fries with that stuff on it would have trumped the disaster put before me tonight at Goodwood. I've been here before, and remember the dinner as being relatively good, so I went there for my "night off" feed before returning back to Midway tomorrow morning. I ordered an "Old Fashioned", and got back a miniscule glass holding a potion that tasted like many things, none of them an Old Fashioned, or booze at all. This has been my third attempt to order this most basic cocktail at as many bars here in SLC, and all have been awful. A Side Caesar (didn't he just pass?) was innocuous--no damage here. My main course was to a be a "two rib platter" St. Louis spares and Texas Beef ribs. with sides of Sauteed Mushrooms, Potato Salad and Slaw. The stuff came, and the St Louis' were lurking under the Brontosauras-like Beef ribs, with a fine smoky aroma coming up. I went for the St Louis first, and the meat SO fell off the bone, that I flashed for a second that it had been arranged that way, where the meat was never attached. I know better. My old mucker BumbleBee Bob Novak, a professional Rib eater known to dabble in Chicago Blues and Abstract Art would call these "Soup Ribs", their over-achieving effort to rapel the meat from the bone indicative of a pre-smoke boiling. In "Bee's" opinion, this boiling not only neutralizes the soul of the Ribs, bit most of the flavor. In this case it seems like the boiling added to the fat content, 'cos these St Louis were so corpulent It was icky. This is the first time that a high fat content did NOT add to the flavor quotient. They were just gross, I got about 4 ribs in, and put them aside. The Texas Beef Ribs looked decent, but when I tried to cut them with the big-ass serrated steak knife provided, I could not cut through them. Efforts to scrape meat down the sided of the big bone proved futile. I tried to separate the bones, but they were holding on for dear life. The little bits I was able to eke off, tasted EXACTLY like the St. Louis--deep deep almost artificial smoke and high fat (and not in a good way) mouth feel. I moved to the next bone, and literally had to stab between the bones, and they were so tough (or overcooked) I couldn't get them apart. Round about this time, I felt the effort was not worth the payoff, tossed my napkin on the table, and cried uncle. Continuing the theme of Adipose cuisine, the Mushrooms, (which looked and tasted like the button mushrooms you get in a supermarket can), were awash in a sea of grease. There was a hint of some kind of booze in there, and it struck me that the Mushrooms had a better Alcoholic kick than my Old Fashioned. Pushed those to the side after 2 unfullfilling bites. The Potato Salad had a fine summer picnic taste, and the Slaw was actually great. But my stomach had been so turned by the massive grease slick of the other items, I was put off my feed and just wanted to get the hell out of there. The place was jam-packed for a Monday night, so the locals must love this place. I didn't want to see the manager, and did not ask for any compensation. I've stopped asking for or accepting gratis offerings at restaurants that display careless prep, 'cos so many people scam joints just to get a free ride. Nothing drives a point home like telling a manager "No I don't want a free meal, or my money back; because I do not plan on returning". If they futz an order, or any of the ingredients are spoiled, that's a different story. I won't pay for that. The place has a wonderful clubby feel, and the service was fine. It's also in close proximity to the regular SLC hotel and the business port-of-call I go there for. It's definitely NOT a shithole, but I wonder what the kitchen was thinking. One star, folks, sorry...

Best ribs in Utah. So far. I consider myself somewhat of a rib connoisseur and this place is the one. Their baby back ribs are the best pork BBQ ribs I've had. Service is always decent. Portions are large. Sides are tasty. The pulled pork is really good and so is the artichoke dip. But the reason I keep coming back is their delicious, tender baby back ribs. Not much more can be said.

I've had the 2 meat platter most often and the chicken. The pulled meats are tender and well seasoned. Not overly fat or dry. The berry cobbler with ice cream is the best thing they have in my opinion. I was going to say 3 stars but realized that I'm not a huge BBQ fan. Taking out my bias I think its a 4 star experience when portion, price and quality are considered.

I devoured half of a BBQ chicken within 15 minutes. Maybe I was hungry but the the chicken was nice and tender.

i had a pulled pork sandwich with sweet potato fries as a side for lunch. the sandwich was good. the fries were mediocre at best. i really didn't like the sweet marshmallow dipping sauce that accompanied the fries...so gross! my coworker liked their bbq sauce and bought 2 bottles. i think they are about $3 each...not bad.

Loved everything we ordered - best potato skins we've ever had anywhere. Onion rings are awesome - steak was flavored very well but very slightly tough. The best part was the service - Andrew, our server was very fantastic and Jesse (the manager) came to the table and talked with us to make sure all was wll. Very well run establishment with great food!!!

I brought two friends here on Friday who were visiting from Caifornia. I have never been here but my husband has and he loved it. When you first walk in, you are greeted at the door and at the front hostess desk. Very friendly and courteous. Throughout the dinner, the server was very attentive and friendly. She always had our waters and sodas filled. We never had to wait. We all had the two-meat platters in various combinations. I had the baby backs & turkey with sweet potato fries and beans. It was all very good. The sweet potato fries were yummy although they could have been crispier. They had a sprinkling of sugar on them and a sweet dipping sauce. They were very good. There was enough food served that I took some leftovers home. My friend had the pulled pork & brisket with a loaded mashed poatoes and beans on the side. His son had the baby backs and chicken with steak fries and beans. They both loved their meals. And those mashed potatoes looked great. I'm getting them next time. I will surely be back.

TASTE: * * 1/2 I've had Salt Lick bbq in Austin twice. Even though this place is near Salt Lake, it is no where near Salt Lick's quality of bbq. It's not bad tasting but it's not so amazing that you crave coming back. Salt Lick in Austin, TX is that good. This place is very average compared to Salt Lick. SERVICE: * * * * 1/2 As far as service goes, no complaints. The servers friendly, courteous and polite. VALUE: 0 If you like pay a lot of money for a little bit of average bbq, this is your place! I ordered the 3 meat platter and all they give you is: a single 4" sausage sliced in half, an ice-cream scoop and a half's worth of pulled pork and beef brisket. You get your normal two sides of fries and beans as well. For the amount of food that was one the plate, you'd expect to pay about $10 at Chili's and elsewhere but this place was charging near $18! Will I come back? No.

One of the very few places in Utah that serves BBQ beef ribs. They are sooooo awsome! Call ahead if that's what you want to eat. They only do a limited amt per day. They are cut rite. So all the meat is on it. Unlike other BBQ joints. Very friendly, and print service.

Great service but you can't eat that. The food is marginally good BBQ. Famous daves is better.

I do not understand the current 3.5 star rating at all. I have been coming to this location since it opened, and I have never once, over the years, had a bad food or service experience. However, I will say this, I've always ordered the same thing: either the pulled pork or Carolina pulled pork sandwich. As good or better than any smoked pulled pork I've had in the South. We just are there for lunch again, and it was phenomenal. Awesome waiter, efficient hosts, incredible sandwich! Good sheet cake too.

Good food, reasonable prices. We waited over an hour and the waiting area is very small for how busy they are, but other than that we had a great experience! Very nice service and great beer.

Good food, the sausage is the best! Terrible music!! Please stop playing crap! One week later and I'm singing, "I just wanna fly, put your arms around me baby, put your arms around me baby". I won't dine in, take away only. I love your sausage :)

Would eat here again any time. Two 3 meat platters. First time pulled pork, chicken and brisket. Second time turkey, sausage and brisket. Both were good but the 2nd visit was better for me. Mac & cheese as a side recommended. Had the beans which were just OK for me but very popular.

Came here for a quick lunch one day during the week with the BF. I got the BBQ platter with Baby Back Ribs and the BBQ Chicken with a Caesar Salad side and the house BBQ Beans. BF got the BBQ platter with St. Louis-Style Spare Ribs, the Sliced Brisket, House BBQ Beans, and the Mashed Potatoes. The ribs and the BBQ beans were delicious but the brisket was a little dry. Favorite part of the meal were the mashed potatoes and gravy, which was nice and buttery and had bits of potato skin in it, which I always love for a little texture. I didn't get to try much of the chicken because I was too full at that point. Really nice service and good pricing for lunch for a lot of food.

This is a typical example of "Utahan good food" when in actuality it's par at best. Granted, I'm not a big meat eater, so this isn't my favorite kind of restaurant. But usually I can find something that is good. Usually if I go (because my dad likes it) I get the Caesar salad, but tonight I got the crispy chicken salad. The chicken was ok, but the honey mustard dressing was awful. It had some sort or chemically taste. I got a different dressing and it was ok. Sometimes I feel like people in utah don't really know what good food is and if its a smaller chain they think it must be better than Applebee's. But all in all I would say this place isn't much better. Utah really needs better restaurants.

  • Iain M.

Cole slaw was dull. Beans were more interesting than some places with some green pepper taste but they were really sweet so a little difficult to tolerate. Ribs (St. Louis style) appeared to have a smoke ring but next to no smoke flavor so really disappointing. Sauce is, again, really sweet and it's on the ribs as well as the side so you can't avoid it. Ribs were dry--OK, I'm talking myself into 2 stars now! On balance-just go somewhere else.

  • Colby H.

It says a lot about your BBQ meat when you drench it in sauce. I ordered a three meat plate with brisket, ribs, and pulled pork. All three of them were covered in their house sauce which tasted like generic grocery store sauce. It was terrible. They all tasted the same because if the sauce. If its good BBQ then it doesn't need any sauce or at the most, have it on the side. Let the meat tell how good it is. I won't be going back and money is much better spent at BBQ joints like Bam Bams BBQ, R&R BBQ or Pats BBQ.

There seem to be a lot of BBQ places popping up in the area. Seems like you either get a dive with good food but Dr.-Office-Wating-Room ambiance, or a place with mediocre food trying too hard to be a chop house. Goodwood is a blend. The food is fine Not amazing, but I've yet to hate any item on the menu. There aren't really any surprises on the menu, just, solid traditional american BBQ.

I had been going to their Boise locations for years before this one opened. I was a fan then and have enjoyed this location for several years. We went on Saturday and again enjoyed the experience. I have always recommend all the Goodwood locations.

Their BBQ is OK, and the the sides I had (beans and coleslaw) were OK. it probably depends on what you get. Nice place and great service and good BBQ.

I have to say that I pretty much love this place. They make really good, pretty much everything. I often get the Cobb Salad, which is huge and yummy. Or the 2 meat special with brisket and turkey. They have tons of sides, but the sweet potato casserole is AMAZING!!! They also give you these little cornbread rolls with your meal that have jalapenos in them... yup, amazing too. If you really want to suck down some amazing calories, get their home made strawberry lemonade (no refills, but worth it). Anyway, I'm a huge fan and go here often.

  • Mike W.

This is easily one of the best barbecue places in Salt Lake. The food is great. The atmosphere is warm. And the service is outstanding. Prices are a tiny bit on the high side, but well within reason. With nearly 2 dozen visits to this restaurant, I can say that I've never had a bad experience here. As a footnote... Based on my experience, I choose to believe that the 'less positive' reviews have to be from wanna be food snobs who are trying to prove a point. (i.e., True B-B-Q can only come from _____ !) Try it for yourself!

  • Greg L.

Meh... I've had better. Lots of drink refills, the ribs were just OK. The SMASHED POTATOS were the highlight for me.. I've been noticing that lately, the appetizers are more interesting than the meals.

I had Goodwood cater the Rehearsal dinner for our son's wedding this past weekend. We chose prime rib, baked potatoes and Caesar salad. The food was fantastic and we heard nothing but positive comments from our guests. They picked up the china we ordered, brought linen napkins to complement our floor length table cloths, set our tables, helped with appetizers, poured wine, and the list goes on. Jenny was wonderful to work with and paid attention to every detail. I would highly recommend them for any event you might be planning. They even do tastings to help you decide on the menu.. Very, very pleased !!

I've been to GW twice and I've been really impressed both times. The food is really great and the prices are as expected. I would definitely choose this place over some of the other BBQ restaurants out there if you want really good food.

Goodwood is as good as I've had anywhere in Texas and South Carolina. I went to a place in Atlanta that was better, but that's IT! I love Goodwood Barbecue Company. The onion rings are amazing and all the meats are exceptional.

  • Laura G.

This is good bbq for people who don't live anywhere near where actual bbq is made and served. Just kidding, sort of! It's all fine, although it's a little heavy on the sauce and has ridiculously large portion sizes. The service is fine, the flavors are okay, and the prices are about what you'd expect for a restaurant that considers itself somewhat upscale (compared to, say, Texas Roadhouse). The whole dining experience is okay, but to be honest I only go when my friends or co-workers insist on eating there; I wouldn't ever select it on my own. In the interest of full disclosure, I'm completely spoiled when it comes to bbq; I lived in Memphis for three years, so.

Best classic club in the valley. Have not been impressed with the BBQ though. I've ordered the ribs a couple times and they were dry both times

Tip: Don't wear a white shirt =P Popular with the locals! Stopped here to eat at 3PM on a Saturday afternoon and there was a steady stream of people coming in through the doors; families, couples, retired folk. With that many people coming in to eat, I figure this place has got to be a local favorite. Everything we had here was good and hearty - this is a BBQ place after all! I had a half rack of ribs with coleslaw and steak fries and a pint of the Chasing Tail. Goodwood's ribs are, well, GOOD! Also ordered the Spinach & Artichoke Dip as an appetizer and a slice of cheesecake with strawberry topping for dessert. Oh, and all that for about $44 - that's for two people, appetizer, entrees, dessert, and drinks. I guess I'm used to paying LA prices for going out to eat... The servers and hostess here are super friendly - they open the door for you when you leave. Really glad we stopped here for lunch. We're visiting from out of state and weren't sure which places were good in Salt Lake, the Goodwood is a great local BBQ spot. I was so full after lunch I slept like a baby for 3 hours after.

Being from KC I know what good BBQ is much better than those worthless Texans. Big head Texans need to be reminded that KC is the BBQ capital of the country and that's all there is to that. That said, this is the best place in Salt Lake. I've had just about everything on their menu and everything is good. It's not Arthur Bryant's or Gates, but it's good. It's where I recommend people go if they want solid BBQ. I'm disappointed the place isn't a dive but what do ya' do?

Went on a Monday night at 7, they were out of all pork ribs had only beef ribs, are you kidding me?!?! Its not like we walked in at 9, there was no line. I ordered brunt ends. All it was was fat, nothing brunt no ends. Waiter said he was sorry. He did refill my water as I was leaving. Thanks. On they way out, three people at front desk, none dared ask how things were. Goodbye goodwood.

I love their pulled pork sandwiches. I have also had the smoked turkey, oh wow, soo good. Their potato salad is the best. This is actually the best BBQ I have ever had, better than Arkansas and Texas. I love the atmosphere and the prices are really reasonable. I am so glad we have this fine restaurant in my home state.

Great service but the food was below my expectations. Louisiana ribs were dry and chewy (what happened to fall off the bones BBQ?). The sweet and spicy sauce was a redeeming factor. The chicken fried steak and garlic mash was tasty, but the meat was tough.

Better than the one in Riverdale, and maybe I felt that way because this one seemed 'newer'---like everything else in the area--and I like new ;p lol Went here one night for a little reunion get together with a few old friends, one of which brought her not-yet one year old baby. :) The staff was accommodating and got us a comfy booth and a high chair for the baby. I think I ordered a salad again, though all I really remember is the crazy stack of onion rings. I'm not a fan of onion rings---and they just looked and smelled too delish to pass up (hello, heart attack ;p). YUM. I'm full just thinking about it again--- The place seems busy, understandably so with a million young families spewing in from every part of the Valley, though not too loud and able to carry our conversation easily without screaming at each other (unlike Texas Roadhouse....)

I got the brisket beef sandwich for lunch and my wife got the fried chicken tenders. She got a lot more for her money than I did. The brisket was a little plain and not too tasty. The bbq sauce is good. The Mac and cheese side was OK, it was creamy which I prefer but wasn't very flavorful. The potato salad was very good. We will probably go back and give it a shot again. A couple bucks off of each plate would definitely make it a better value and us to get back there quicker.

I've been to GoodWood at least a dozen times in the last two years. I've had the opportunity to experience several things on the menu. The location is great. It's one of the reasons I've eaten there so many times - it's right off the freeway in Draper. The service is generally good. The servers are friendly and the food comes out fast. There's really nothing unique about the food, but it tastes good. I recommend the pork sandwich and the "Pit Boss Burger". I had the BBQ meat platter last night, it was okay, but it wasn't as delicious as the sandwiches. The appetizers and sides are good. If you want a recommendation, try the onion rings (they're the biggest rings I've ever seen).

My wife has been wanting to go here for a long time, so we finally came in for a Sunday dinner. I have to say, I was impressed! The service was excellent, the food was delicious, and the restaurant was really clean. The restaurant wasn't too crowded, and we were on the opposite side from the bar and televisions, so it was a quiet-to-average noise level. Their steaks were very thick, nearly two inches, and they tasted great. I would recommend that you order it a little more done than normal, as my medium-rare steak seemed slightly more raw in the center. If I had ordered a medium steak it would have been just fine, but the thickness plays into that. Overall, a great experience. The price was reasonable and the food was delicious.

I'm an out of towner, I was expecting the quality of food like the local BBQ places I'm used to in my hometown.. Famous Daves or Red Hot and Blue. I was pleasantly surprised by how good this place was. Definitely try the sweet potatoes, the pulled pork, and the apple crisp a la mode.. We bought a few bottles of BBQ sauce to take home with us too!

Excellent beef ribs! I had a full rack and I think it was 7 bones. Love it! Beef ribs are not easily found in most BBQ restaurants. I will come back next Friday for lunch!

Of all the Barbecue that I have eaten in Provo this is definitely the worst. I is OK but for the price I would definitely got elsewhere. If you are a barbecue connoisseur then I would say skip it. If you like the type barbecue that is just meat drenched in some barbecue sauce then you will like this place fine. I should say though that the service is great. I love how they keep my drink full. Still, bang for buck I would go somewhere else.

Not the best BBQ I have had (especially when compared to Texas BBQ), but it's not bad. This place tends to get crowded (don't Utah families ever eat at home on weekends??) but once seated, service is usually quite friendly and efficient. Huge, crisp onion rings are neatly stacked and delicious. For entrees, the Texas beef-ribs are huge, tender, and juicy. If you get the full rack, make sure you ask them to cut them in the kitchen or else you'll be served a Flintstone-sized rack on a little plate. I can understand the complaints against the brisket...they are indeed dry. However, I have personally had difficulty finding a nice, juicy brisket anywhere, even in Texas. Surprisingly, the best brisket I have had is at a chain called Red Hot and Blue. Anyways, the sides are generally OK...the coleslaw is dominated by red cabbage but is tasty, the steak fries are nice and crisp, and the baked potato is fine. The potato salad, on the other hand, is pretty bland and needs plenty of added salt and pepper. In all, we found this place to be pretty good. It can't compare to what we had in Texas for BBQ, but it's as good as you're gonna get in Utah.

Well, I actually had heard lots of good things about this place. Now I know it's just because these people have no idea what good barbecue is. I got the brisket, baby back ribs and smoked chicken with sides of steak fries and barbecue beans. The best part of the meal were the steak fries. I was SO dissappointed with everything else. I couldn't even finish the brisket, it was so bad. It was dry, flavorless and covered in a sugary sauce. Just terrible. The chicken was ok. Ok flavor, and decent juiciness. But nothing to "write home about". The ribs were dissappointing. Better than Chili's--and that's not saying much. The thing is, this place is quite pricey for what you get. Stick with Pat's, Smokehouse, or Sugar House BBQ. So dissappointing! I've given it two stars, because all the food was edible at least. The service was decent, and the restaurant and bathrooms were clean.

i like this place... good place to hang out, nice environment and neighborhood with friendly services... didn't like the salmon i ordered but who orders salmon at a bbq restaurant? the finger foods are all pretty nice, wings and potato skins.

The food wasn't terrible, but it certainly isn't as good as other bbq places here in the valley. I thought the portion sizes seemed a bit small for the price. What really bothered me was the cockroach that scurried across the booth wall when we were finishing our meal. Disgusting. I noticed they also deleted my review on Urbanspoon. Maybe that's why their ratings are so high.

I've been here a couple of times and had a good experience both times, but all I have eaten is the baby back ribs. The ribs were good, but not amazing. The price is reasonable for the food.

I was recommended this restaurant by a hotel staff member. Food was awesome! Staff was friendly fast and helpful. I got the half rack of baby-back and half of the st louis style rub ribs with two sides of beans and ate it all. I was actually full for once after leaving a restaurant without feeling gross. In fact i went back for dinner the following night and got a half of their smoked bbq chicken which was just as good. I highly recommend their spicy bbq sauce, overall a great place.

I really enjoyed their BBQ. Quite sad when they were out of beef ribs but their lunch 3 meat sampler was more than enough for my husband and I to share. Really good food and my mom who was visiting and loves this place got herself and me so BBQ sauce it's amazing. Sadly they don't have a Goodwood in bend Oregon where she is from but we sure like it here in Utah.

Awesome bbq. I always get the rib round up (beef ribs, and st louis spare ribs) and share with the wife. Makes the bill tolerable.

Really Good BBQ. Definitely some of the better in the area. Typically I wouldn't expect that from a chain. However, for a national brand, they do ok. Great Food!

Goodwood Barbecue Company is located in a stand alone building on the edge of a mall at the corner of 12300 South and State St. The menu is classic BBQ style with the addition of a few steak or prime rib choices and a large selection of burgers, chicken and other sandwich platters. BBQ includes ribs, chicken, pulled pork and beef brisket. The prime rib was billed as smoked and it did have a mild smoky flavor and was cooked as ordered. Maybe slightly chewy but not bad for the price. We also had the BBQ chicken which was nicely done in a mild sauce. Various sides are available including beans, coleslaw, baked or mashed potatoes and others. The salad included with the prime rib was excellent with bacon, hardboiled eggs and other small items in addition to the lettuces. Not the best BBQ I've ever had but not bad and was a decent value.

  • Michelle K.

The only thing that was decent was the potato salad. The bbq chicken was slightly undercooked and flavorless. The brisket was a joke. It was the toughest brisket I have ever eaten, and tasteless to boot. I had to slather on the bbq sauce to give it some flavor. Their sauces were good, but I came there for the meat! It's a shame, really.

Tasty BBQ but don't expect true BBQ or smoked tastes. Provo location has much better service. Wide selection of healthy dishes as well. The wings as an appetizer were very tasty but some might complain they were drowning in BBQ sauce.

I love this place! A friend recommended it to me. I had the ribs with sides of potato salad and beans. The beans were the best I've had, chock full of seasonings including ham pieces. The salad was just like home made, not too much vinegar which I find in store bought and fast food places tend towards. The sauces are good enough to buy, which they do bottle for home sale. I have tried the chicken and brisket to. Take home is easy. Call ahead and its ready when you get there. Once I asked the waiter to give my compliments to the chef, and the manager came out to talk with me! The ambience is noisy so expect to shout with your table mates. Love the wood and fire sconces. I had the tortilla soup and nachos in the Provo branch and although the soup was wonderful, I didn't care for the nachos. But this is a BBQ place so that's what I mainly stick with. Prices are reasonable, unless you choose to spoil yourself.

I don't know whether I should review this place against all the BBQ places I've gone to, or should I review this place against other restaurants in and around Salt Lake City. As a BBQ restaurant overall, it's not very good. The brisket was very very lean, not much marbling, so it was rather firm and on the drier side. The beef rib had very little meat and was tough. The baby back ribs was good though and their french fries are well seasoned and crispy. Compared to BBQ in California and Texas, Goodwood does not stack up. But as a BBQ joint in Utah, it's not too bad due to the lack of BBQ options.

Perfect brisket sandwich, delicious Mac & Cheese, & their service is on point. I'd love to tell you how the rest of their food is, but I can't bring myself to get anything else because what I always get is so delicious. Boyfriend loves the honey stung chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries & marshmallow dipping sauce.

Food quality issues made for an inconsistent visit while a couple excellent dishes will certainly win me back. Dishes to avoid: Macaroni and Cheese - Noodles were so overcooked and soft they turned to a gummy pulp in my mouth. Add runny imitation cheese and you have a losing combination. Salmon Ceasar Salad - Salmon was so dry and overcooked it was like a feathery piece of jerky. Pre-cooked frozen patty thrown in the microwave? Salad was overdressed, soggy lettuce drowning in bottled dressing. Now the great stuff! Chicken Nachos - Some of the best I've had in a couple years. Perfectly balanced flavors and wet/dry ingredients. Fresh-made tortilla chips. Smoked diced chicken pieces were not too plentiful, but very tasty. The "small" is easily big enough to share. 1/2 lb. burger - I got mine with a sausage on top (can't remember the name of it). The sausage was way too salty but the burger itself and all the other fixings were phenomenal. Ordered it medium and got it perfectly cooked. The bun is soft and chewy but firm enough to hold everything together, it's dusted in meal and has a fresh-baked profile. Whole potatos sliced into steak fries were well done and pre-seasoned just right. Service was great. I complained about the Salmon Ceasar and it was promptly whisked away for punishment and it was comped. Drinks and refills were brought out promptly and dishes were bussed throughout. Atmosphere clean, inviting, and very welcoming.

Do you want to find good barbecue in Draper? Goodwood is an excellent choice. The dining room has a nice warm country feel - you'll like the wood paneling on the ceiling and walls and as soon as you walk in the door, you smell delicious barbecue. That makes me hungry. Their combination of seasonings and smoke create some flavorful meats. They have two kinds of sauce on the table Sweet and sassy or sweet and spicy. Beef, pork or chicken are all hefty portions and you'll find yourself satisfied and full when you're done. If you know your barbecue, then you'll like this...for lunch, they serve a burnt ends brisket open-face, Kansas City style. You'll find the menu goes pretty deep in BBQ fare. Many of the meals include two side dishes - mom's potato salad, creamy coleslaw, steak fries, or my favorite, house barbecue beans. Try to avoid the noontime rush if possible. Take my recommendation and give Goodwood barbecue Company a try. Salute!

Pretty decent BBQ and they have a seperate gluten free menu! As a celiac I can always appreciate that. It of course states that cross-contamination is a possibility in a made from scratch kitchen. I however, have always had luck on not getting sick here. I've had pretty decent servers as well, and thank goodness there is a new manager, (Last one had short man's syndrome...real jerk) Love the warm atmosphere too here.

Every time we've eaten here, we have been well satisfied with the food and service. We've had lunch, steaks and family style BBQ meals, and they've all delivered. Mr H. wants to get there for burnt ends, and since it's been quite some time since we've been there, I'm hoping to dine there soon and update this review with more specifics.

Goodwood is an interesting name for a restaurant. Just thought I'd point it out. So this place is hit and miss for me. I wanted to try the strawberry lemonade but the waiter informed me that it's by the glass. I didn't order it just on principle. Lemonade by the glass is ridiculous. It's lemonade, which is like, half water. Side salad was great and the dressing (house made ranch) was great. The salad was chuck full of ingredients. We got an appetizer platter. For $15 we got three (3!) onion rings, a small pile of nachos and some tiny chicken wings. This appetizer platter is dumb. Just order the onion rings (which were bomb) on their own or the nachos on their own. None of this appetizer platter crap. It's turns out that small portions of nachos and onion rings bum me out. For my entree I got the bbq chicken with baked beans and cole slaw. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the bbq sauce was great. The baked beans and coleslaw were totally ordinary. Corn bread was nothing exciting either. My husband was not impressed with his bbq at all. Service was good, food was mostly ok but nothing exciting.

I've been to a few BBQ places in Salt Lake City particularly downtown, and only felt that R&R was adequate. Friends told me about Goodwood BBQ located in Draper. To be honest, I tempered my expectations a little bit prior to the meal but everything was great. Got the standard 2 meat 2 side meal (chicken and burnt ends, steak fries and mac and cheese). Both meats were very juicy and I would definitely go again if I don't want to make the drive to the city.

This location is better than the old Orem location. I guess that's why they no longer exist. I had the Salmon Cesar salad and it was really good. The salad dressing comes on the side which allows you to drench your salad or go lightly with the salad dressing. I've had the chicken before as well and it was good. The service was great and I will come back again.

This is my favorite bbq place in SLC. Everything is great but my personal fav is their pulled pork. I love their side salads and they have THE best sweet potato casserole side dish in the world. It is like heaven in a bowl. They really should serve it as dessert The only thing I am always disappointed in is their cornbread. It is really gross (to me at least).

This is a favorite restaurant of mine. I love the ribs and the honey stung chicken sandwich. The sides are great too- baked beans, amazing garden side salad, corn and don't forget the spinach artichoke dip! I love the warm feeling inside and how I am treated each time I go there. My daughter loves this place so much that she chose to have them cater her wedding lunch. It's so delicious!

This is the last one of the Utah locations (I think) that I had yet to try and it's more like the one in Ogden than Orem, which means a stunning disappointment. BBQ joints that have the philosophy that they can dish out any old thing and cover it in warmed barely acceptable barbeque sauce really drag down the overall level of things and I suppose that's what we have chains for, in some ways. Thought you didn't want chunks of fat and hard gristle? You were wrong, friend. The smoked turkey was a bit better and even had a slight touch of smoke to it, but it was still very also-ran. Gravy was probably the best thing I had, being a semi-adequate country gravy, but I would not have raved about it, other than in comparison, it came off pretty well. Caesar salad was pretty weak as well and the brownie dessert thing was like a glop of sticky semi-melted over-sweetened chocolate. If nothing else, I have this one on record now. Moving right along...

DRAPER, UT: I like barbecue. I lived in Texas for a decade and can say crap like "it used to be its own country" with a mostly straight face. I travel to Kansas City on business a lot and know about burnt ends and Memphis rub. That said, I'm not a snob about it. Even though Goodwood is a chain, it still has some delicious options and they do -a comfortably good barbecue. I like the corn bread (4 stars), I love the brisket salad (4.5 stars), and the nachos (4 stars). Get the strawberry lemonade (5 stars)-best I've had. I've tried the top sirloin (3 stars) as well. My coworkers love the strawberry/apple/walnut salad, though I can't rate it because I haven't ordered it myself. Come try some, it's good.

  • Ariane A.

Awesome ribs. Great service. Mac and cheese was average. I love their bbq Ranch dressing on the house salad. The cornbread is yummy. I ordered the strawberry lemonade. It was good but I don't really like it too sweet so I probably wouldn't order it again. Overall good food, good service.

Goodwood earns its 3.5 rating. One of the other yelpers described Goodwood as the Chili's of BBQ and to be quite honest I can't think of a better way to describe this place. The service was surprisingly outstanding. Our waiter was very accommodating to our family with little kiddos in tow. Our drinks were always filled, and all our requests were taken care of in record time. The food was just ok. I had a pulled pork sandwich and it was over seasoned with a huge hunk of meat (more than I could chew without taking some of the pork off my bun). It wasn't terrible or offensive to the pallet, but it was just ok. To summarize, I can't imagine going out of my way to visit Goodwood again and given the choice I would probably eat somewhere else. That said the restaurant was clean, the service was very good, and given the local population's affinity for chain restaurants this definitely beats eating at Appleby's or Olive Garden (shutter....).

This is a nice looking restaurant with a fancy atmosphere. The staff is friendly and usually do a great job. I ordered the honey stung chicken sandwich with smashed potatoes. The chicken is awesome and they give 3 huge pieces for a sandwich that only can fit 2. My husband likes it because he always gets the bonus chicken piece. The sandwich overall is really tasty but the sweet barbeque sauce they put on the sandwich takes the cake. It's just so good. The smashed potatoes come with a white gravy which is pretty good (I prefer a brown gravy usually) I also ordered a strawberry lemonade which was really good but there are no refills. The one thing that bugged me today was that we ordered and then about 10 minutes later the server came back and said he threw away the paper that our order was on and needed to write it down again. We were in a little bit of a hurry, so the delay of our orders was a little annoying. I think if he had offered something for the mistake I would have been happier.

I like good wood for normally company events either lunch or dinner... The first time I tried Goodwood is actually in Boise, Idaho. But I found out that we had a couple of them in Utah. I normally go to the Draper one. The location is good as it is by I-15. On Friday and Saturday evening, pls make sure that you came early or do early reservation, as it is normally pretty packed. So, I came last night for company dinner. We started with appetizers and we shared wings, spinach dip and potatoes skins. I like the potatoes skins the most as it is tasty with cheese on top and bacon... simply delicious. I ordered the prime ribs 16 oz with mushroom for my main dish. I requested medium and it was cooked perfectly. The only thing is that the meat is rather fatty, but the fat is not distributed evenly, instead it is at the corner, so it's not really appetizing. Also, the mushroom is not cut or thinly sliced, so it's kinda weird, but it taste OK. On the overall, it was an OK dinner with good service and good ambience.

Goodwood = Goodfood? GREAT FOOD!! Stopped in for the afterlunch crowd, this was the best decision all day, maybe all week! The service was awesome they were very attentive. I had the two meat meal and decided on the burnt ends for both meats because it's that good, the brisket they use for the burnt ends is cooked 24 hours before served , and it shows, it is so tender an delicious ! The two sides I decided on was two potato salads one for my meal one to take home, they make the best potato salad , well they have to cause I never order potato salad out anywhere but here ! They have a few difference delicious sauces to add to your meal which Is a nice addition, over all very clean place, beautiful atmosphere to have a lunch bring your family or just have a date night!

I can't believe how great my experience has been here at goodwood. The food has been incredible, every detail has been good genuine BBQ from the ribs and prime rib to the corn bread and desert. The icing on the cake was the service. The server Andrew was the greatest waiter, making every detail great without being to intrusive. We ordered wings as an appetizer and they came told us they were a little over cooked so they remade the order and comped them. I can't say enough good things about this place!

After a long day of traveling across the country, I stumbled onto this place. I've seen a few of them around the SLC area, so I figured they'd be pretty good. I was correct. I got a 1/2 rack of baby back ribs. Very meaty and fall off the bone great. The mac 'n cheese was good, not great. The veggies are typical of most restaurants these days. Undercooked broccoli and carrots and over cooked squash and onions. Pass on that! The BBQ was fantastic. A little sweet, but with a little zip. Decent food for a decent price.

Good wood is a go to pick whenever we want something hardy and meaty. I always get the 2 meat combo, usually the brisket and turkey, you'll also get 2 sides. I'm not a fan of sweet potato pie but it's a must have along with the potato salad! The service is very attentive whenever we go. The lunch crowd is 80% business people on lunch so they gear up for the rush, thank goodness. We've also ordered many large to go orders for our company, they messed up a few times, we called back and they sent out the correct order plus gift cards for there mistake. That's why we'll keep coming back! Plus the food is generous and tasty!

I am recently transported to Utah. Midwest & East Coast background. This is the best restaurant I've eaten in in years. Incredible service, incredible food and very reasonable prices. Salads are great as well as all the meats they serve. I go 1 or 2 times a week for dinner! I wish they would open in the midwest ( Cleveland, OH) they have a great franchise model. I can't say enough about the staff, they are very friendly, inviting and add to the environment. The food is fresh and clean. The only suggestion would be to add a few more vegetables ( greens etc) to the sides as it would go so well with the menu. Whoever you guys are , well done on every level! it is much more than bbq!!!

Everything about this place is wonderful!! The setting is very chill, almost romantic - perfect for a casual Dinner or a group dinner! They have a good selection of beers on tap, and will make just about any mixed drink you ask for. The food is absolutely wonderful!!! I've never gotten a bad dish. Brisket and pulled pork at two of my most favorite things! The Mac and cheese side is absolutely wonderful, as well as the moms potato salad! Great prices on everything! The staff has always been super friendly and very helpful! My glass was always kept full of water and the service always had a smile!

This was my trip here and I guess I've been spoiled by all the good bbq joints downtown. I did like the two bbq sauces they provide though they taste pretty similar to each other. There's a "sweet and spicy" and a "sweet and tangy" or something to that effect. I ordered the two meat lunch, with coleslaw and rice pilaf as sides. I got turkey and pulled pork as they were recommended to me. The quantity was sort of low and I'm not a big eater. I'd say order fries as a side if you want more food. The coleslaw wasn't anything special. If it was made in house, I couldn't tell. The turkey was soft but nothing really to write home about. I didn't think the bbq sauces matched the turkey but I still added some to get a little more kick. The pulled pork was also tender but basically your run of the mill pulled pork. All in all, not a particularly memorable experience. I don't think I would go back considering it cost me about 14 for lunch there. (Water for drink.)

Good service and the food was yummy. I even found a vegetarian option of spinach salad with apples, strawberries, and pecans. Also had the jalapeño corn bread, and the sweet potatoes covered with pecans which was delicious and can be eaten as a dessert.

As far as barbecue goes in Salt Lake, go to Devil's Daughter downtown. But if you need a more family friendly experience this place is decent. It's basically a Chili's for meant specifically. That's all. Not a huge fan. Chains bore me.

Both times I have been here the food had been great and the service is some of the best i have received anywhere. While browsing the menu on of the employees (possibly the Manager?) Asked if we had been in before. I think he had overheard me telling my wife I wasn't sure what I wanted. He came back with a sample plate of the brisket and smoked turkey so I could try it. The sample was generous portions, I actually was able to get a good taste of the options. In addition to this, they were very quick with our order and everyone was very friendly. I will definately be back.

I would like to start by complimenting the employees of this restaurant for the consistently great service. I've dined at some high end places and have not received the attentive and knowledgeable service that they offer. Much of the food is homemade and very reasonably priced. We look forward to our next visit.

Decided on Goodwood as a last minute option. Seated right away, service after that was a little slow but friendly and helpful. The BBQ was pedestrian, it was the standard fare from a standard menu. Kid friendly and gracious as we had a high energy child with us.

  • Greg L.

Meh... I've had better. Lots of drink refills, the ribs were just OK. The SMASHED POTATOS were the highlight for me.. I've been noticing that lately, the appetizers are more interesting than the meals.

  • Binny P.

    (3)

  • Lisa G.

The best BBQ we have had! The ribs are fantastic!! The atmosphere is top notch. Better than the BBQ in Texas by far!!

Not bad, for a chain. Utahns love their chain restaurants, no doubt. The half BBQ chicken is probably the best menu item.

Don't get the chicken ceaser salad for lunch. Me and my friend got it and they both came out missing salad dressing. The chicken was terrible. I reordered the chicken sandwich and loved it. Service was good.

I had the beef ribs. They are good but not great and they did not have much meat on them which is why you get beef ribs!

They accommodated a surprise party of 30+ family members and service was as good as it gets! Food was great! They had 3 servers that were just for our party, they joined in on the surprise! Food proportions were large and great. Price was good. Thanks

Taking out my bias I think its a 4 star experience when portion, price and quality are considered.

i had a pulled pork sandwich with sweet potato fries as a side for lunch. the sandwich was good. the fries were mediocre at best. i really didn't like the sweet marshmallow dipping sauce that accompanied the fries...so gross! my coworker liked their bbq sauce and bought 2 bottles. i think they are about $3 each...not bad.
