Mikado Bountiful Menu

Sushi is decent. It's nothing to avoid but nothing to get salivate over either. Service is Ok. Wife was pretty clear she wanted gluten free everything by her salad still came out garnished with fried wonton strips. So, pretty clueless people. But very very nice and friendly. It's got a great atmosphere if you don't want a lot of distractions. Music is contemporary and not too loud. **** I am modifying this. On our second visit they botched up my wife's order again. It took almost 25 minutes to get our food. Don't get the rainbow or California roll. Nasty crab filling.

Warning! Eat here at your own peril. The good : the food looked good. The bad : the restaurant smelled awful and the sushi rolls tasted worse. The salmon roll and the Vegas roll were both mushy. The salmon roll was tasteless and fell apart. The Vegas roll was also mushy and tasted nasty. Both of them tasted like they were cooked in bad oil. The Playboy roll tasted funny too. I have been to at least five different sushi restaurants and this is the first one where I could not finish the food. My fiance threw up because it was so bad.

I came here a couple weeks ago and the customer service was awful! First, we waited at the front for 10 minutes why the hostess finished texting and talked to the waitresses, once we finally got seated we waited at the table for almost 20 minutes to get our drink order, from a guy who wasn't even out waitress he just felt bad because we hadn't gotten our drinks yet. Then our waitress came to us and said "sorry, I didn't know I was waiting your table. It's just really busy". There were 2 other waiters and only 4 tables... Not busy at all. Then when we tried to order she said she wasn't ready to take our order then came back 10 minutes later to finally get our order. The food was pretty good but took long to get out. The only time our drinks got refilled is when the other waiter refilled them for us. The guy waiter was great, but the rest of the service was horrible!! Never coming here again.

Well..let me tell you don't order a burger I think they get them frozen from Smith's, at least that is what my son-in-law said. Service ok...food not so good

A good way to stamp your international dining passport without leaving your American-centric sensibilities behind. The place won't win any awards for authenticity but it fits Bountiful where there likely aren't many people who want to explore beyond a California roll. All dishes were very good and this is a great place to experience Japan from the comforts of my Western frame of reference. Make sure you try the Mikado prawns.

I came here to get some sushi with my sister while I was in town from Vegas. The service was excellent and the sushi was pretty good too! We shared the shrimp tempura and a few spider rolls. So yummy!

Sushi from the grocery store is better than Mikado. The fish was not fresh. The rice was stale. The seaweed was tough as leather. The food tasted like shit. The owners of Mikado also own Ichiban. I will be avoiding both. Go to Sapa. They're the best!!

Let's be honest. There aren't a lot of places in Bountiful that offer a nice meal that isn't a national chain. In that respect, Mikado is a welcome addition to the area. The food is fresh and well prepared. Service was efficient. If you go for lunch, I know they do quite a few specials. In addition, they have chicken and steak entrees if sushi isn't your thing. Last tip, they keep a "special menu" of rolls but you have to ask for it. Attached photo is from that menu.

Awesome! Our service and food was great. We loved our experience and will be back again.

I want to like this place because of it's convenient location, but there are two other local sushi places that are much better. The service sucks, the rolls aren't that great, and it's over priced. On a positive note, they have a bananas foster that literally makes me want to lick the plate. Other than that, you're better off at Fuji Sushi in Centerville or Sushi Monster in Farmington .

I've been to Mikado 3 times now, because my wife loves it. I'm not a sushi guy, but I must admit that their food is good, there waitress are friendly and fast. The seared ahi is about the best I've ever had. Another testament to the food and service is that in my 3 trips I've 2 couples in their who were in on my previous visits.

I love Mikado's... Yes if you are looking for crazy sushi this is most likely not your place. The Vegas roll is to die for! I didn't like sushi until i tried here and now i am in love with

Teriyaki beef and tempura vegetables are amazing. Also the mango chicken appetizer looks really cool.

We just ended up in the area and decided to give it a try. We got lucky and had Niko as our server. He asked what we were looking for and I asked him what he thought. He quickly told me: "Nothing on the boring menu... You want this" and whips out the real menu. Not laminated or anything fancy, just a piece of paper with their custom rolls. I asked for 2 rolls, one tempura and one raw, his choice. I don't remember what the tempura roll was called, it was good... But the other roll was EXCALIBUR. Catchy name right? It was amazing. The textures and flavors of the shrimp, rice, fried asparagus, I think a few more things, sriracha, topped with tuna and fish eggs and who knows what else. The best sushi roll I've ever had, slightly edging out the "Flying Dutchman" at Azuma in Houston. I could go back there and just order a few of those, but I'm excited to try a few more recommendations from Niko. It took a little bit to get our food, but luckily my wife and I like each other company so we didn't mind the 15 minute wait to get our food.

We went here for lunch, and had an amazing roll, the Zeto roll, which we highly recommend and even considered ordering 2-3 orders of that one roll! The other $5 rolls were so-so, but that one really stands out! The service was great - we sat at the bar and practically had the whole place to ourselves (going at an in-between hour). We also ordered the Super Crunchy from the main menu and it was equally as good as the Zeto roll. Would definitely come here again!

It really doesn't deserve better than 2 stars...maybe 3 stars IF you get a big discount by purchasing a local gift card at Costco for 20% off, and then going at Happy Hour when prices are reduced. I've never seen a Japanese person work there. Sushi made by Mexicans. I notice a deal on Yelp here for 50% off. If you're in the mood for mediocre and want a step above fast food quality, and you're able to get a big discount and also go during the Happy Hour discount, then sure. It's not quality sushi by any means, though.

I've eaten here about a dozen times. It is very franchise-esque food. the service is hit and miss, more often miss than not. It's overpriced and I'm very aware of what sushi and Japanese food prices fetch. So, for value, it gets a one star. For food cleanliness and consistency, 4 star. Management and service? Probably a two and a half. On more than one occasion our food has been wrong or our appetizers have showed up with our entree or after. When asked to reconcile, it's a big NO. On one ocassion I was charged for something I had them take away because it wasn't what I ordered. No problem, I took it out of the tip because of their refusal to do anything about it. It's the only control that I had at that point. I don't eat here anymore and advise spending 10 minutes in the car to go to Fuji or one of the downtown sushi joints. Leave mikado to those who don't know any better. 2.5, but I gave it 3.

I've been to Mikado about 7 times now over the past 3 years, but only because it is with a group of friends for a birthday and they like to choose Mikado to have the "private" booth. Every time I have been there, the service is super slow. it has become a running joke with my friends. We ask for straws for our drinks and 10 minutes later, we get them. My friend asked for the Bento Box without shrimp and it came (a lot later) with shrimp in it. Our server seemed annoyed when we asked her to make another bento box. Hello? Also, 4 sushi rolls were ordered from different people in the group (7 of us) and all 4 were brought on the same plate. We asked to have them on different plates because we couldn't reach and enjoy the sushi. She seemed annoyed to do that too. After that, she was friendly, but sooooo slow. I can't take it anymore! I really don't think it takes that long to make the food. It wasn't very busy either. I understand if it is a busy night and that is why they are slow, but it has been 6 times now. Unacceptable. My last complaint: Serve BROWN rice too. Please! Food is ok, but not fantastic. Come on Mikado!! Step it up!

I went to Mikado for the first time tonight not knowing what to expect. I was completely blown away. The food was great and the service was even better! We ordered the calamari (loved the spicy mango sauce that came with it) and three rolls: the Vegas Roll, Super Crunchie Roll and the Dynamo. The first two listed above were my favorite and the last one was my husbands. We finished it off with their chocolate cake which was delicious, but extremely rich - we ended up taking some home in a box. Overall it was really good. I was impressed with the quality and presentation. We were really lucky to have Nico as our server to make our first experience excellent. By far the best server I have ever had. He was quick and efficient, but still very personable; made me feel as if I'd known him for years. Request him as your server and you will not be disappointed! We will definitely be back there soon.

Don't do it. I know it's close and inviting... but NO CHAIN SUSHI!!! It will only disappoint. We (large family group) ate here... tried everything, more or less, on the menu. The miso was good. That's it. Dry sushi, covered in mayo. They are careless with their fish rotation or something. Bleeeccchhh. Wont be back. Ever. Tips: Take the time to drive north to Osaka's (Layton) or south to Ginza (Salt Lake City).

Today, despite the poor reviews, our family of 6 decided to eat lunch in hopes of some good priced sushi. It is my oldest's 19th birthday. We were greeted nicely and seated in a separate room with the sliding Japanese doors. It was awesome. The food was great, and all the kids loved the sushi. The service was great. The only downer was the mandatory 18% tip with only 6 of us Typically that kicks in at 8. We will be back.

This place has a bunch of thieves working in it. Don't waste your time with this place. Service is extremely slow, and not customer friendly. Our dining experience took 3x what it should have. Not only that, but they conveniently "lost" the credit card. They brought the bill back after charging the card, but the card wasn't in the folder. When asked about this, the waitress just said, "I don't know what you want me to do about it," and walked off to tend to other customers. After asking for the manger it was learned that he was no better help. He also asked, "What do you want me to do about it? We have never had an issue with your waitress stealing cards or anything like this." Left the restaurant and canceled the card, but shortly received a phone call saying they found the card on the ground and that it must have been flipped out of the folder when returning to the table. If this is the case, then the servers obviously don't care about the customers money or livelihood when they, and the manager, are okay with how much disregard is shown at Mikado. However, when driving to get the card from the restaurant, the manager called back stating he left early than was originally told so the card could not be picked up till two days later. He also stated that he had pocketed the card instead of leaving it in the safe or locking it in the till.... Once again, this guy obviously doesn't care about, or have the skills to run a business. Either this place has all the employees working to give horrible service, and is stealing from customers, or they don't know how to train new employees and are horrible in business management. Don't waste your time with this joke of a restaurant.

I actually like this place. I've been 3 or 4 times. The first couple times it seems like their chef's were new(when it first opened). Upon returning the food has always been really good. They are a little pricey, but no more than any other decent sushi place in the area. Their service seems a little hit or miss. It's never downright horrible, but sometimes the wait a little longer than it should be for the ratio of employees:customers. They have some really good lunch special prices that change depending on the day. I got a Vegas Roll (or maybe it was a Rock 'n Roll?) for 5.50 and it was up there as one of the best rolls I've had. I got take out and tried a piece on my way to work. The first bite was so good I almost crashed the car.

DON'T GO!! This place is terrible. Food prepared poorly. Portions ridiculously small. A total waste of time and money.

  • Jenny L.

Sushi is always very tasty, portions are fairly small, service is pretty good and you never have to wait long for a table or you can sit at the bar.. We went in once an hour before closing and felt like we were being a bit rushed by the server though. Our most recent visit, my husband ordered sushi to-go and realized when he was home that they forgot the edamame. We called and told them of the mistake and returned to get it, since we had been charged and didn't receive it and we only live about 3.5 miles away. Once I got there, Annette, the manager profusely apologized and gave us our edamame, plus a huge slice of chocolate cake with a side of vanilla bean ice cream as an apology gift. I don't even like dessert and this was the best thing i've ever tasted. THANK YOU! :)

Japanese or Mexican?? food sucked, servers have no idea. What happend to Mikado??? it used to be good, had some japanese chefs, now, Rolls with some lime, clantro, sriracha, avocado, deep fried with cream cheese???? man I'm goonna get chimichanga for $4 than pay for that sushi again. I guess the company chaged. Mikado is now the chimichanga factory, sushi mexicano.

Sushi was nice and fresh. If you go, make sure to ask for the menu with all the special rolls. Great place. Only downfall is no "All You Can Eat" available.

First impression as we were seated in private room was bad. After being told we didn't have to take shoes off, I realized no one does and there is no way to get into private room except to step all over seat cushions with dirty feet, which explained why the cushions were so filthy - and I mean soiled with God only knows what kind of crap from people's shoes, but food spills too. Also very difficult for anyone older or with physical limitations to get into, and forget getting up to use the restroom once everyone is seated. I would never build a private Japanese style eating room without giving patrons an area around seat cushions to walk and those areas should be deep cleaned more than anywhere else. Thankfully our party was moved to a table. The food took forever to arrive. Family members who ordered teriyaki in bento boxes got dry chicken with no sauce. Had to remind waitress quite a few times of things she forgot to bring. Sushi was mediocre and lacked in variety. Will not be returning.

We love this restaurant. We are sushi lovers and were excited to have a place closer to home. The service has always been great. The food is always perfect. One of the few places I want to give 5 stars. It's hard to beat their happy hour sushi prices!

I've been to this location 2-3 times in the last 5 years. It's one of the few places in Bountiful that serves high quality Japanese fare. I was motivated to check this place out again when I saw a Yelp offer ($10 for $20). I couldn't pass this offer up. I ordered a Kirin and a sashimi combo. The service was fast. The server was friendly. The sashimi had a nice presentation. They brought out a variety of salmon, tuna, and eel. Everything tasted fresh. If you're looking for a quality Japanese restaurant in Davis County, Mikado is one of the best.

Friendly, slow service with decent sushi that is overpriced & takes forever to arrive (especially if you're the only table in the restaurant). No true lunch specials, unless you want to spend $50 for lunch. We might attempt this place again in a year. Last time we ate here was about a year ago...no noticeable change.

  • Jen W.

Absolutely horrible customer experience. I ordered edamame which had soooooooooooo much sea salt on it that you couldn't even enjoy it. I advised the waitress who said "well thats the way we're told to make it"... Of course you could imagine my horror when they still proceeded to charge me for the uneaten salty edamame. I asked her about it and she said " we can't take it off because that is the way we make it". OMG. I will never ever come here again not recommend Mikados to friends/family.

AHH..... MY FAVORITE SUSHI BAR! Yeah it's "HAPPY HOUR" I love to come here during the week right when they open no crowds that way! Of course you have to start with Edinami it'S Plenty for 2 and it was only $3.95. My favorite roll is the Super Crunchi with eel sauce! Usually it runs $11.95 but at happy hot it's only $8.99 what a deal! Then to top it all off a order of veggie tempura for only $6.95 and it's big. Hibby get's the same other than the tempera he gets the shrimp tempera for the same price. Awe now I'm full and totally satisfied! And as usual the service was great! Awesome work Claudia!

  • Denise L.

This place was great years ago. That is not the case now. I came in close to closing time and the waiter was eager to get me out the door. Usually I can finish eating while they clean but these guys don't clean. Sushi was worse than it used to be. Customer service was horrible. Prices are ridiculous. There are many options around for sushi so avoiding this place isn't difficult. Make the trip to tona or Takashi.

We have been to the Bountiful Mikado several times. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and a friendly staff. The food is good. We like the Japanese Noodles and Vegetable Tempura. The only drawback is the price of the food is a bit high for what you get.

The food was amazing. The server didnt honor my voucher correctly tho so i didnt save doing the yelp deal. Kind of sucked.

2nd time back and gotta say it was worth it!! Have a new favorite roll called the Pae day. The food here is always amazing and my complaint in the first one wasn't the food it was the service. I didn't expect for Julie one of the managers to get back to me after me commenting on yelp the first time. Just an off night for a new server and I really appreciate how they were quick to get back to me and I am really satisfied. The girls were helpful in helping try new things and nana (our server) was great and very friendly. Mikados has gained back my trust and another couple customers. Thnaks again

The diamond in the rough is just rough. The decor isn't kept- the bathroom was not clean and it was messy. Don't wear nice pants because the vinyl seats are split. The staff isn't uniform. The menu is not near as extensive as it used to be. The sushi is limited too. Sad.
