Great price! Great food! Don't waste your time or money at any other Chinese restaurant.

I LOVED this place. I went during lunchtime on a Saturday. It wasn't busy at all. Food came out fast, hot and yummy. Servers were very friendly and attentive. It was a very relaxing atmosphere. I have never eaten in a more relaxing place in my life. I live in San Diego so I can't wait for my next trip up there. I will want to eat there more than once on my next visit.

China Platter has been a regular stop for me and I've gotten to know the menu pretty well. They've got a pretty large offering on the menu and most everything is good. It's definitely not the best chinese I've ever had, but if you go at lunch it's only about $5 for a BIG meal. An absolute steal, however dinner is about the same portions and seems overpriced to me for the quality. Generally they make the mistake of overbreading most items and putting entirely too much sauce on, which is why I avoid the items like Sweet and Sour Chicken or the prawns. As long as you stay away from breaded items, it's pretty good!

Best Chinese food I've had in the area in a long time. I had a combination platter with some sweet and sour chicken, chow mein and ham fried rice. Everything was delicious. My only complaint would be that the veggies in the chow mein were really big and not chopped nice and small so you'd get a bit piece of celery or green pepper that would overpower everything else. The service was great. Very efficient. I'll definitely be returning!

Good food. We all ordered the combination platters and it was wonderful. The service was okay but they seem to need more help.

I've been going here for a long time, and China Platter doesn't disappoint. The people who work there are very nice, but the biggest reason I go here is of course the food. My personal favorite is the General Tso Chicken, but the Mongolian Beef and Sweet and Sour Chicken and Pork are good too. If you're in the area and are craving some good Chinese food, then this is the place I'd point you to.

We go here at least once a month. My wife likes it because of the Thai connection (rice noodles) and the fact that they tell her that they use GF soy sauce in all their cooking... which I find hard to believe. I'd say it's average food. Not great, but I've never had anything that I couldn't eat. Decor is dark, and heavily "Asian" - except for the caucasian waiters. Lots of families, with noisy kids on weekends. Very casual clientele. 3-D dragons popping out of the wall, huge ceiling tiles. It will always serve Asian until someone redecorates - that's for sure. The whole Colonial Square is kind of a step-back in time. Odd little place, but we like it.

There are very few places that offer such great food at an even better price. Don't let its simple looks and name fool you! The inside is gorgeous, ornate, and dim-litted. I like to order their sweet and sour chicken all the time; the sauce is delicious, the crust is crisp and crunchy, everything comes steaming hot and fresh, and the proportions are great (not too much nor too little). A perfect Chinese lunch in my opinion.

This place is B-UTAH-FUL! It feels like you're in a Chinese palace stepping inside... from floor to ceiling the restaurant is covered with these gold squares with dragon designs engraved in them. I felt like I was at a ritzy, high-end restaurant! Service was so-so. The waiters are dressed in casual clothes which off-puts the classiness of the place. It'd be nice if they could at least match in color... Seeing them dressed down kind of killed the luxurious setting. The girl who waited on us was nice but she sure did bring the check awfully fast... almost as if she wanted to get us outta there, which is strange since they were only 2 other couples in the restaurant! Even though the surroundings are beautiful, when we first walked in there was no background music! I actually had to ask my waitress if she could turn it on. ha! Kinda strange because she seemed embarassed when I asked. Waitress: "Oh, that's strange we SHOULD have the music on... *glares over at her co-worker*.... you can't hear it?" Me: "Uhhh no, I can't hear it. I wouldn't ask if I could...?" Food was pretty good. I ordered the wonton chips as an appetizer with wonton soup as entree. The wonton chips were bomb, the soup was pretty decent, and my boyfriend ordered some kind of noodle entree which he really liked. Overall, this place is a gem worth visiting!

I grew up in Bountiful and China Platter was my first Chinese restaurant. It's ok. I've been back to eat a few times since then and It's not bad, it has its own style and it has an authentic ambiance. But honestly, if you're in bountiful looking for good Chinese, try Wok Lin for great take out or the Mandarin for dine-in.

Ordered take out on Sat night. Not as good as any of the previously ordered, hundreds of, meals we've had from there since 2003. Chow mein was mostly celery and onions with very few pieces bland chicken. Gen. Tso chicken was pretty good but lacked enough sauce. The batter on the deep fried chicken while tasty didn't seem especially fresh. Hopefully this was an off night and our next visit will be more like what we've come to expect from China Platter in the past. It has a really great atmosphere for eat in dining. And I'd get the China Platter house rice as a take out main dish or for lunch as it has tons of tasty things such as pork, big shrimp, egg, vegs and lightly seasoned.

China Platter has been the standard for the fine people of Bountiful to get pretty tasty Chinese for years now. Lately, when I've ordered at various Chinese restaurants, I'll ask the server if they can sub fried tofu for meat, so I can enjoy a delicious sauce instead of the boring tofu and vegetables in brown sauce that everywhere offers. Never been a problem. Not anywhere. Except, apparently, at China Platter. When I asked the server IF I could order General Tao's with tofu instead of chicken, he gave me a snarky response about how the kitchen frowns on it and that's asking a lot and what a pain, blah, blah, blah. I offered to order something else, and he grumbled something about doing it anyway. He made a point of mentioning 3 more times before I got my meal how much the kitchen was complaining, that they didn't want to give me the same price as a chicken entree, again mentioning how they frown on it, how mad they were, if I didn't like it I was out of luck, etc. I was so turned off by his attitude that I could hardly eat. If they don't want to do it, THEN DON'T DO IT. I would rather be told "no" upfront than be berated about my order for 45 minutes. I realize vegetarians can be a huge pain in the WHAT?!? Just don't treat me like trash for straying from the menu a bit. Lucky for him, K went up to pay before I could get a chance, because he would have received no tip from me. What a shame. My General Tao's was actually quite good, best in town. K really enjoyed his General Tao Chicken, too. He said the eggroll and dipping sauce were not good, he compared it to eating some sort of industrial cleaner. The same could be said for the vegetarian fried spring roll that was oddly paired with fish sauce for dipping.

This is worth going to. I love the inside decorations. The ceiling is amazing. The huge mirrors on the wall are spotless. The wait staff is attentive without being pushy. The food is quite good too. We will definitely be back.

Pleasantly Surprised! Bountiful (and Utah in general) is more hit than miss with anything Asian... however, if you are looking for Thai Food in the area, you NEED TO CHECK THIS OUT! First of all the ambiance is fun! The dining area is lit to encourage an intimate setting and very well decorated. If you know anything about Chinese culture you will recognize right away that this restaurant is decorated to accommodate for CHINESE WEDDINGS. It has a place set aside for the newly weds, a place for a receiving line/ photos and Phoenix and Dragons... EVERYWHERE! For this reason I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place for a DATE NIGHT. The reasonable price, exciting Thai dishes (as well as the decor subconsciously inviting a marriage) will make for a great evening with someone you are trying to impress. Don't spend too much time looking at your average Chinese foods... skip right to the Thai food! Show how cool you are and order the TOM KHA SOUP! It comes (as it should) served in a tray with a pot of fire in the middle. It tastes so good, you will try to figure out how to get the tray out and lick the bowl! Look for one of the SIZZLING selections that will grab the attention of everyone around you. It tastes and smells as good as it sounds! The Pineapple Shrimp Rice is another MUST HAVE! Not only does it taste great, but it comes served in a cute pineapple dish. Your will score major cool points with these fun and delicious dishes!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
