Los Cucos Mexican Cafe Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

The best red and green salsa with chips anywhere in the Houston area. Papasitos is good, theirs is better. The seafood? Always delicious. Try Seafood Al Vapor. Also Gallitos Fish. But I always come back to the Fajitas Cucos. Other people swear by the enchiladas. Bottom line, this place is great! Always great.

Here we go again Bad service bye bye That's it. I'm so tired of the daily drudge. Smile someone. Wait on me please. Make eye contact. Ok gotta go

  • Charlie M.

Go here occasionally as it one of the only consistent Mexican food around me. The salsa is pretty good as is the green salsa. The fajitas are pretty good and enchiladas are hard to mess up so they are good too. I go here with a group of 7 to 8 once in a while and they usually are quick to serve us, once was pretty bad and making us wait on everything. It's a good Mexican restaurant and not bad prices.

I've been here twice for lunch and it's always the same, "Night of the Living Dead" waiters. Sad, old, rickety and walking aimlessly. The restaurant is in a strip mall and from the outside you would think it was a small little cafe but it's really big inside so you'll be pleasantly surprised. The salsa and chips were tasty. So at least that won't let you down. The chicken soup was spicy and just okay. Flautas were bland and forgettable. My friend had the tortilla soup and raved about it. I haven't given up completely but I hope they give their staff a good shot of some adrenaline so they can wake up and look alive.

They just lost a star for having one of the worst and rudest waiters I've ever had there. Didn't let you finish what you were saying, he'd just walk away. This was several times. If I ever get him again, I am asking for my table to be changed. Jerk is a better word to describe him.

A+++ The food is excellent, the portions large, and the price right. Service is always excellent any time day or night. The fijtas Los Cucos are amazing! Great drink and food specials.

  • Adrienne Q.

Of all the Los Cucos locations in the area, this is my favorite. Their food is consistently good and the service is always on par.

  • Heather S.

This place was pretty good. Not as clean as I would have assumed from the exterior, but not awful. We purchased the deliciouso. Next time we'll just get the shrimp and fish from that platter. Both were amazing! (And I am not really a seafood fan) we could have done without the pork (dry), chicken (nothing fancy) or the beef (fatty). Kids liked the queso and chips. Server was pretty good. We would definitely go back to try more of their menu.

  • Chris T.

Great service. Great food. I had the Seafood al Vapor. Steamed seafood in aluminum foil. The flavor was great and this is a good alternative if you're trying to keep the calories down a little bit (very difficult to do at a Mexican food restaurant). We had a reservation for 9 and the table was ready on time.

  • David B.

The chicken soup and the beef soup are served in the same broth -- red, tomato based. Found the tomatillo sauce to be so spicy as to render it inedible.

  • Andrei P.

Good food great salsa and right next door to us. Definitely our favorite spot for watching sports

    (5)
  • Hank O.

Noon time and not very crowed. No one would wait on the few tables in there. Craziest thing I have ever seen.

There are no bad things I can say about this restaurant. It's been in the panther creek shopping center for years! I've been going since I was a little girl. They serve a LOT of food for a small cost. I always get the fried stuffed avocado with chicken. So amazing & the people who work there are so kind

    (5)
  • Sara W.

I love it. Everyone knows us when we go in. The food is sooo delicious that I dance in my chair while eating it. The Los cucos sauce also called salsa Los cucos makes you wanna slap your mama. I will get the deliciosioso (sp?) bc it had fish, carnitas, chicken and beef fajitas and grilled shrimp. It is so good I can't decide one to order and this has it all. You can make a couple of meals out of it. Get the sauce too. And and the tortillas rock! Yummmmmmmy. Now I've made myself hungry

  • Tiara G.

Love this place!!! The Polo Ixtapa is amazing! If you want good food, Los Cucos is always a safe bet! The staff here is great and the food is always fresh.

    (5)
  • J L.

I LOVE the food at this place. I always get the "Delicioso" plate. Tender, juicy beef fajitas, tasty chicken fajitas, Grilled shrimp and fish filet with a creamy, buttery garlic sauce!! I'm not done...it also comes with a crispy, fried pork carnitas!!! Served with rice, frijoles a la charra and guacamole. It doesn't get any better than this. Did I say that I love this place? Worth it, just for that plate alone!

    (5)
  • Jeanine W.

Absolutely DELICIOUS food, good prices and large portions!! Service was prompt and friendly. This neighborhood restaurant was a wonderful surprise, and we'll definitely dine here again! Our favorites were the tilapia, carnitas and chicken enchiladas ... basically, everything we had :)

"I am a fan of Los Cucos Mex Cafe. I am a fan. They carry excellent mild salsa and guacamole dip. Both types of dips are great and both are not spicy. I recommend eating quesadillas. Their margarita beverages are a good treat too.

    (3)
  • Lauren R.

Their chicken fajitas and quesadillas are worth trying. They have tasty alcohol beverages. Their chips and dip taste good. The dip is mild... so you won't burn your tongue...which is good.

I'm afraid it's a very mixed review on this one. I moved to the area about a year and a half ago, and have eaten in Los Cucos once, but gotten take out a few times. Over all, the food itself is fairly good. BUT.....I have been disappointed in the accuracy of the orders and the non-cooperative attitude of managers when reporting to them a problem. Last night spent over $12 for the Carnitas Fritas plate. Ordered it partially because it comes with borracho beans. I do not like refried beans at all, and will always ask to have borrachos substituted (even if it's at an extra charge). So, I get home and open the aluminum box the meal is in and behold! refried beans! It wasn't like they forgot to substitute. The meal automatically is supposed to have borracho beans. This is FAR from the first time they have goofed up something on my orders. It 8is why I rarely go there any more, but I had gone a few miles out of my way to get food from another restaurant and they had already closed in order to have an in-house Christmas party. So, though the food is good, the prices average on the high end, I will not be eating at or out of Los Cucos in The Woodlands any more. By the way, the one time I ate inside, the service was the worst I had ever received in any restaurant in my life....and I am 67 years old and have eaten out or gotten take-out hundreds and hundreds of times in the US and in three other countries. When I complained ab out the waiter to the manager (on a following visit), he pretty much just ignored the complaint and made it clear he wasn't going to do anything about it. I also told him about a take-out order that had been screwed up, and he just said "Oh, sorry about that" and had nothing more to say and nothing to offer as compensation. Bad business.

  • Mark W.

Been here many times since I moved to this area, the food is delivered fast and is really good! If you like margaritas you won't be disappointed, they are refreshing and they don't skimp on the tequila.

I used to love Los Cucos - 4 or 5 years ago, this would have been a 4 star review. Sadly, for whatever reason, Los Cucos has slipped into the depths of Restaurant Nightmaredom. The last two visits were both for lunch. After the first sour experience, I left shocked that my beloved Los Cucos had left me feeling cheated and in need of a stomach pump. The chicken tacos al carbon were off, and I only ate half of one. The restaurant was dingy, and a smell of some industrial-strength cleaner lingered. It was with some hesitation that I returned a second time a month or so later. So strong was my will to have my faith in Los Cucos restored, that I shook off the past experience and visited again for lunch. This time I ordered soup and a taco and muched on chips and dip while I waited for the food. The soup broth was oily... both in taste and appearance. As I lifted the spoon to my mouth I caught a whiff of what smelled like dirty dish water. After one bite, I was done. My taco held some sort of beef jerky as a meat, so tough I couldn't chew it. The waitress came by twice. Once to take our food and drink order and once to bring us our food and check. That was it. I will never return. Whether they have become overwhelmed by franchising the hell out of themselves, or are just a in a rut... I don't know. Far too many other (and better) choices than to waste a third chance on Lost Cucos. :(

Awesome great food . Lots of food and excellent service as well. Although the waiter only speaks in Spanish, we were able to order and communicate with him. I loved the nachos there, and the guacomole was awesome. they gave lots of nachos. I miss mexican food already.

  • Kevin P.

Super kid friendly, great food, good service. Check it out on Monday or Tuesday bc they have $2 margaritas all day. They have a lot off menu items with just about every combination plate possible.

Yeap, thats right....5 stars from a Californian who knows Mex food (hehe) This place was great. Awesome service evn on a packed night and excellent food. Stuffed chile rellano para mi y burrito para mi esposo - ok my espanglish aint that great but this place is! Merci and Muchas Gracias!

This is my favorite tex-mex place- ever. It may not be fancy, but you will love the food and always have a great time here!

I had the poblano stuff pepper with chicken. Lot of great tasting food for a very reasonable price!

Off my list of restaurants to visit. It's unfortunate because it's so close to my home BUT... (1) As noted by others, there is a big problem now with consistency... you never know if you're going to get lucky and get good food or not. (2) Service - stunningly bad! (3) Oil - the smell of the oil from this restaurant permeates the air around the Panther Creek Shopping Center some days and it's not sending a quality message.

    (2)
  • Tino R.

Standard texmex food, the place and floors look dirty.

  • Bob J.

An old Woodlands staple with a convenient central location. Never impressed, but decided to try again. Lots of staff, but still manage to provide spotty/indifferent service. During recent visit my wife and I both commented at the same time - - "Is this potatoes in my burrito/taco??" Of course I am not totally sure about the meat either, but surprised to find what felt like "filler". Worth traveling a few miles to other places that are trying harder to please.

  • Cory S.

Picked up some take out for lunch for myself some of my co-workers... Definitely not the best mexican food I've had. I ordered a chicken enchilada and wasn't too impressed. The toppings and everything but the chicken was good. Now, I don't expect it to be absolutely wonderful being as it was a to go order... But the chicken was cheap and low quality.. A lot of the chicken I had was chewy and fatty. you could tell they didn't take the time to trim the chicken like most places would... The portions were good and they had the food ready when they said they would.. not much else to say.

We were seated quickly, and the wait staff was courteous and attentive. The chips were thin and crispy and arrived in a large basket. Two salsas also arrive with the chips -- red and green. We ate all of the green salsa and asked for more The food portions were large (enough to take home for leftovers), and the flavor of the food was excellent. We ordered the Mar y Tierra plate (beef/chicken fajitas covered with Los Cucos sauce and four bacon-wrapped shrimp) and the Three Enchiladas Plate (with a special order of a fried egg on top). The Los Cucos sauce on top of the fajitas made them taste unique and better than the average fajita. The enchiladas themselves were average. We've had better. Our only real complaint of the meal was that the flour tortillas seemed slightly undercooked (a little doughy). We overheard others at nearby tables talking about the chicken-stuffed avocados, so we'll probably try that next time. Four stars for above average Mexican food and very affordable prices for large portions.

Delicious margaritas! The best Mexican food in the Spring/The Woodlands area. Relaxed atmosphere. Fajitas, Tacos Al Carbon, quesadillas (esp the spinach and the shrimp), and chimichangas are to die for. I never had a problem with consistency as others have. Nor smelled oil. I think the location is just lovely. I miss the place!!

    (5)
  • Guy S.

Pollo Del Mar is really Good. Consistency is a Concern. We both had the same dish (Pollo Del Mar) Mine had alot of Shrimp and my friends had hardly any. Make sure yours is right, or send it back. I'm still going 4 stars cause it was really delicious.

  • Owen R.

This is a pretty good place for Mexican food. One of my favorites. I always get the Tacos Al Carbon here. I don't know what they do to the meat, but it's amazing! Then they wrap it up in a fresh, warm, homemade tortilla. Yummy! Oh, get the cheese sauce on the side. Not for everyone, my wife likes it but I give it a pass. Too processed. The rest of the cheese they use is real so I forgive it. :)

    (4)
  • Fiona R.

Consistently good food, in a relaxed, attractive setting. Portions are on the large side (that is not a complaint!) Staff are very friendly. Very little in the way of vegetarian options, but the staff are happy to modify most recipes where possible. We eat here regularly and have never had a bad experience.

  • Christopher J.

Fajitas! Outside of Ninfa's on Navigation, this is the only place to get fajitas. Yes, many places can cook fajitas, but these are the only two places I can get the sauce that Mama Ninfa herself recommended to my family so many years ago. So, go here ask for the Fajita Tacos and a side of "Pechuga Gravy". They may look at you funny or even question you, but if you insist the kitchen will know what to give you. A little goes a long way. Try it sparingly. You could put this on a car tire and make it taste good! If you like Guacamole, you can have it made fresh at the table. This can be hit or miss according to the person you get, but I have seen about an 80% chance of something good. Either way it beats that pre-made stuff hands down. Also, great margarita specials on Monday and Tuesday. :)

  • Sarah Q.

I really love this place. I took my husband here for his birthday after our original (fancier/stuffier) plans fell through. We both had a great time. Everyone in the restaurant seemed to be relaxed and in a good mood, probably from the delicious food and flavorful margaritas! Plus, our waiter was a hoot! Great place. I go back whenever I get the craving for some tasty enchiladas verdes.

    (5)
  • Amanda P.

I would give Lis Cucos 4 stars, it's the attitude there that knocks it down - particularly the male staff (snarky, obnoxious). Their crispy tacos are amazing, their margaritas strong, soups are tasty, corn tortillas are amazing as are their pork tacos...great fajitas too.

    (3)
  • Shanna L.

I very rarely eat Mexican food but the Shrimp Tacos were delicious! I will definitely go back & eat here again. The chips & salsa were good, the waitstaff was attentive & friendly and the atmosphere was very pleasant.

  • Alex K.

This place is awesome. I visit family in the area every six months or so and this is the first place we go after the airport! The green salsa is great, as is the guacamole prepared table- side. Favorite dishes are the fajitas a la ducks and the seafood in a bag.

    (5)
  • Andy B.

This is my friendly once a week Mexican Dinner where everybody knows my name. Service, high class food, decorated by Frida Kalo? Not this place. But, the food is good, and the service is what you expect in your neighborhood diner.

    (4)
  • Heather S.

I cannot stop talking about this place. I wasn't a huge Mexican food person before moving to Houston, but BOY, I sure am now! The menu at this place is enormous, and I have to believe it's all fantastic. Service was great as well, super attentive servers who were very nice. Can't wait to go back to this place!! (Green enchiladas were the BEST!)

    (5)
  • Zach M.

This place would be a 3 for average if it weren't for the fact that I absolutely love the staff here. I've had more memorable meals at this Los Cucos than any other mexican restaurant in Texas. Its authentic and legit food in a great location.

    (4)
  • A S.

Food and Service horrible!!! Will not ever go there again!!!

    (1)
  • Chris J.

Chips n' salsa are the best in Houston... Like most restaurants it's best to stick with what they do best, fajitas, quesadilla's and margaritas... The rest is decent, but I'm always satisfied when I order these...

Los Cucos (The Cuckoos) Mexican Cafe, The Woodlands, TX - On my list of top well-run classy Mexican restaurants to return to and great for larger groups -- because of the high ceilings and spaciousness, it does tend to be echoey, however. The long lines/wait time at another popular joint nearby beckoned us to this new establishment that we'd been admiring from the comfort of a rolling air-conditioned automobile. They have patio seating -- but 'tis only for the seasoned masochist accustomed to Houston's muggy summer clime and record heat waves! The service was speedy....& forward leaning -- teamplayers, another waiter whisked away the remaining third of our introductory warm thin/crisp/flaky tortilla chips/two salsas (red/creamed green) and replenished it with an entire new batch of chips/dips -- stunned, we would not have minded to finish the initial set first, cuz we don't like wasting food (think of all the hungry people in other parts of the world and the prep time it took for their chefs). The food arrived just as speedily, oven-hot, and everything more than hit the spot: humongous chicken burrito, Spanish rice with corn (er, for texture), enchiladas, perfectly done crisp bacon-wrapped scrumptiously fresh jumbo shrimp (a bacon & shrimp-lover's delight!!), a la carte tamale topped with meaty red sauce (just a tad salty) & a side of lettuce/tomatoes, and crispy beef tacos with all the fixins. The large helpings will make for additional opportunity to savor 'em for a midnight snack into tomorrow :-). Highly recommend this place for that special date night -- there are a plethora of meal choices and the restaurant grounds are aesthetically pleasing for that 'Kodak' moment, complete with fountain at the entrance.

Never had anything bad. Its hands down, my fav Mex rest in NW Houston. (even tho its a chain). I have had so many things on the menu and they are all the best. My new fav that I have had the last 10 times or so is the El Panchito....fried eggplant with shrimp, crab, scallops, queso and all kinds of stuff on top!! Great margaritas too. Hardly ever a wait unless you go at prime time Fri or Sat night and only 10 min wait or so then,

    (5)
  • Albert N.

This neighborhood Tex-Mex place features a huge menu with many dishes you don't normally find. Their specialty seems to be grilled meats; these turn out considerably better than the average enchiladas. Family friendly, good margaritas, clean atmosphere, good service.

    (4)
  • Sandra M.

Yes I am a fan!!! I love me some Los Cucos Mexican Food BUT TURN ON OR UP YOUR AC IN THE I45 LOCATION!!!

  • Adam O.

This was my high school and college summer break staple. The Fajitas a la Maria are incredible. The guacamole made at the table is delicious. Overall, the food is fantastic, and it is really good value. I remember years ago the service was a lot better, but they are still decent enough to not take away from the food. Oh ya, and the margaritas are pretty awesome too.

    (5)
  • Judy J.

I LOVE this place!! I have never had a bad meal at the W. Panther Creek location. Los Cucos rocks. I have heard rumors a second Woodlands location is going to move into the old Cafe Adobe building. Oh happy day!

  • Tani M.

I just went to Los Cucos tonight for dinner and I was not impressed. The food was ok however the service was really bad. We were seated by the manager who was on the phone while she brought us to our table. Then a waitress came and asked us for our drinks which we got pretty quick however after that no one came to get our order or check on us. We stopped a waiter walking by and asked when our waiter was going to come, and he seemed pretty confused. Finally the waiter came and took our order but had a really hard time understanding that we wanted certain things on the side, maybe it was that he doesnt speak english that well. I am a immigrant my self and wouldn't have a job today if I didn't take the time to learn the language. Toward the end of the meal a waitress came by our table and started picking stuff up without asking if we are done. She took our chips even though there was still guacamole, and salsa. It was little stuff like that that really anoyed me.

I've lived in Texas since I was 10 years old and have had Mexican food from East Texas to the border, in small Mexican towns, all the way down to the Yucatan. One thing I can say is this is NOT Mexican food. Tasteless meat, greasy retired beans, stuck together overcooked rice. The restaurant smells and the carpet hasn't been replaced since it has opened. Go to Taco Bell, you'll have a better experience than this.

    (1)
  • matthew w.

Serious Tex Mex with some serious cheese on it. The fresh flour tortillas there are the best I have ever had, and the chili con queso will demand the use of a defibrillator afterwards.

    (5)
  • Alison C.

The Good: - They have some unique combo plates mixed in with the usual findings of a Tex-Mex place. - $1.99 margaritas on Tuesdays! - Their red salsa is served hot (two thumbs up)! - The verde sauce isn't watered down, and has a bit of a kick to it. - Attentive servers that keep your drinks full. - The entrees are HUGE, regardless of what you order. The Bad: - The entrees are HUGE, regardless of what you order. Take it home or a lot goes to waste. - The parking is shared with a grocery store, so it is very hard to find a spot near the entrance. The Ugly: - That sound you hear? Yup. Karaoke on $1.99 margarita night. Thank goodness it is a busy place and most of the singing is blocked out. Very much enjoy coming here after a long day at work. Heck, I would stop by after a short day of work!

    (4)
  • Mark B.

If fresh made TexMex excites you then head to this establishment! I ordered the Chicken stuffed Jalapeño for an appetizer. One is plenty large and would be enough for two people. I had ground beef enchiladas with rice and beans. These delicate gems had the perfect mixture of beef, sautéed onions and were essentially grease free. Quite an accomplishment. Can't wait to bring a group here!

    (4)
  • Janna H.

Enjoyed dinner here but the floor was very slippery. We both had the chimichanga, it was pretty good, just a little too bready. Strong frozen margarita, the large was too much to finish.

    (3)
  • Lacy P.

Good food, my only complaint is that the waitress rarely ever came by. We were easy to order pretty fast and she took so long to come back by just to take the order. We were bummed when we realized we had to get change for our ticket because we knew there would be a delay and there was!

Great service, great drinks and great food. I can't wait to go back. I love this place.

    (5)
  • Jo M.

Nothing to write home about, but nothing to complain about either. Standard tex mex cuisine. Good for groups, but expect to wait a minute for a table. Service is always average. Having difficulty making a decision on where to eat? Give this place a try for fajitas.

  • Bonnie K.

When Los Cucos first opened up it was really good Mexican food. after a few years the quality went downhill, the kitchen was dirty the restaurant was dirty. we started calling it LaCockroach. I was recently invited to the restaurant with friends and when I got there I simply could not make myself order because I really wanted to see the back of the kitchen. I ran into a couple of people that worked at that restaurant and they told me that the kitchen was filthy! They need to close this restaurant for two weeks completely gut it and clean and then reopen with and maybe another name

    (1)
  • Jonathan H.

Ok so if you want some seriously fantastic tex mex... this is the place. Ive eaten at many locations around here and you cannot beat the food and prices that you find here!

    (5)
  • Ben R.

Love going here on $1.99 margarita Monday! They might do it on Tuesday as well... Even though it was $0.99 for the longest time, still a great deal. Food wise, its very very good Tex-Mex. I've been to other Los Cucos locations, and this one just seems better. I usually try not to order things I'm comfortable making myself (a very limited menu) at restaurants, but the quesadillas here are my favorite. Something about their tortillas.

    (4)
  • m j.

Had a great dinner here. Service was prompt. Food came quickly. It was hot and delicious. The portions were generous. The only reason I gave this place 4 instead of 5 stars is because their salsa was not very good.

  • Luis E.

I've been here twice in eight years and the second time was not my choice but it was a free meal. Staff is horrible and food is bland, better off going to Ricos ( not much better but better than this place).

    (1)
  • Rubio R.

I had the Cactus Margarita, shrimp fried Avocado and tha Banana burrito for dessert & everything was delicious! The Los Cucos steak fajitas were also very good and tasty. I've only been here twice but its only bc I live in another state, otherwise I would come at least once a week.I would recommend this place to everyone. The service is also very good, the entire staff is very nice.

  • Martinez J.

This place is literally amazing. Great food and great service. I go every year for my birthday and they always do such an amazing job. They never get an attitude, nor get frustrated since we have a table of about 20-25 people. If you can, check this place out. You will be satisfied.

    (5)
  • D Sharlene S.

Food was ok but food cold and fajita meat tough. Service was the worst. Was checked on once and had to call him to the table. Waiter was flirting with the girls and not paying attention to customers, also watching the TV

    (1)
  • Rachel B.

Great service been coming here for years can't beat the authentic Mexican food!! Always request Alan he provides great service. Karaoke night is always our favorite night. Hostesses are all so kind always! I recommend this place to anyone

  • Sandy P.

We came for a late lunch, exhausted and hungry. There weren't many people at 3:00pm, and we were grateful that they were open. We had great service from a happy, singing waiter! Started out with a good margarita and wonderful warm chips and salsa. We really wanted some veggies, so the owner made us a beautiful salad that was not on the menu, then we had fajitas. Everything was so good, and the homemade tortillas were especially delicious. We'll be back!

    (4)
  • Maritza C.

If it were up to us this place wouldn't get a star. 1 service was horrible 2 food was horrible 3 margarita was horrible 4 the restaurant itself is horrible. Condensation dripping from the vents dripping down to the tables. 5 did I mention the most horrible service ever We've been to many of the other cucos and this was the worst experience ever. Do not go here. Burnt rice, salty buttered fish, burnt hamburger buns, bland chicken fingers, rubbery steak, soggy fries. We are not over exaggerating about this place.

    (1)
  • Jeremy D.

All Los Cucos locations are very solid and consistent. Good margaritas. Alambres plate is delicious and a ton of food for the price - two can share this easily.

    Awesome tacos and fajitas!

  • Stephen N.

Tacos Placeros!!! The best tasting tacos I have ever had. I believe one of the managers told me they marinate the meat over night. You can buy two or three tacos and I always chose three: 2 steak and 1 pork. I usually order to go and they always include and assortment of great tasting salsa with chips. The green salsa that looks like it was made with guacamole is my favorite. Each taco comes with your choice of meat and a beautifully cut and sliced avocado. Pinto beans are also included and they taste like they've been marinating over night as well. I honestly get cravings through out the week for the Tacos Placeros from Los Cucos!

Service was ridiculous. Literally had waiters arguing in Spanish about who was assigned to our table. A man in passing took our drink order while walking away. I felt like I was yelling at him just to order my son a milk. The food was great. No complaints about our actual meal. I got the chicken and vegetable tacos and the chicken was seasoned perfectly.

Usually we like this place, but today we had a waiter that didn't speak English and could not understand our order, and the pretty young lady who made our guacamole did not do a good job and it was tasteless. We were disappointed.

This place is kind of hidden in a strip center off Panther Creek. We were seated promptly upon arriving for lunch. The restaurant was pretty crowded which is a good sign. Our drink orders were taken and we were brought chips and two kinds of salsa. One was a warm red salsa and a green salsa also. I am a sucker for green salsa and this one was very good. The heated red salsa was also tasty and the chips were nice and fresh and not stale. For my meal I had the fajitas mariachi. It is a combination of beef, chicken and shrimp fajitas with onions and peppers. It is also served with rice and charro beans. These were very good fajitas. The beef was good and tender and not tough like at some places. The chicken was also good and well seasoned. Shrimp were also good and not overcooked. The tortillas they serve with it are homemade and very nice. They go well with the fajitas. All that food was only $9.99 which is a good deal. I will definitely return here again if in the area. We were in and out within a reasonable time and received good service. The portions were large and the price was not outrageous. All in all a very good Tex/Mex meal.

I am actually saddened by so many positive reviews. I know this place is a Woodlands institution, but they need to go out of business! There's so many issues I don't know where to start. I guess the criminal waiter is the first. A male server there actually changed the tip by a lot and my mom got the run around about fixing it. Then it happened to her friend too so they said they were firing the guy. A month later he was there and when asked about it the manager said he had a family. So what that should not come before customers. Second is the moldy smelling rugs. Third is the waiter named Gato. Charming, but does nothing. The bus boys do everything and he serenades you and sucks up at tip time. Forth is the burned rice every time. How hard is it to separate from the fajita skillet?

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
