I really like Posados, granted I've only been here three times. The first time we came here was a little after lunch but before dinner and our server, Lakeatha, was absolutely amazing. She didn't mind one bit that my boyfriend and I were sharing the nachos and had just one margarita each. She treated us as if we were ordering the most expensive thing on the menu. She was great! Super friendly and knowledgeable. The second time we came here it was around dinner time and lucky us, we got Lakeatha again! (Score we loved her the first time) and lo and behold not only did she remember us but she remembered our order. Customer service? She gets 5 stars in our book. (And an over 20% tip) Third time we came we asked for her but we were told she wasn't working that day. Okay, no problem. Our server sadly did not live up to her, not only did she looked pissed we asked to be seated outside but she never once smiled or cared to make us feel welcomed. Bringing our food and not asking if we needed anything else? Ignoring us all throughout our meal? Sweetie we've worked in a restaurant, a smile won't kill you. For that I'm giving Posados 4 stars. The free sopapillas at the end are great.

I really enjoy this place! The food is good and all the specials they offer is helpful on the pocketbook. I have only had one issue in the past but the waiter was a newbie and the manager stepped right in and corrected the issue. My food of choice is the chicken fajita nachos! You can't beat the free soft serve ice cream and sopapillas. On Mondays kids eat free. Go in and check out all their other specials.

My boyfriend and I decided to try this place because the line at Chuy's was so long. We should have known what we were getting into when we walked in to find the place half empty on Friday night. When I asked the waiter whether they made a better chicken or beef taco he told us that he would never eat the chicken there because it was too greasy. Needless to say both of our meals were greasy and bland. We will *never* return to this restaurant .

Best Fajitas I've ever had! The spicy butter dipping sauce is the best. I stop here whenever I'm in town. It was a sad day when the left Okc!

Massive portions, colorful and lively environment, friendly service - but the food just wasn't great. If you like a lot of sour cream and cheese with your mex, then you'll probably like this place. Their margaritas are cheap.

Wife and I went yesterday and was a pleasant surprise. Our waiter greeted us with a smile (Ryan) very good service. Noticed employees cleaning and taking care of business. Place was 35% full. Bathrooms were clean and smelled clean. I had a caesar salad and was fresh. I enjoyed it. Atmosphere was great not to loud. Wife thought her chicken tacos were average. Talked with manager very nice guy that has his crew on top of things. He was greeting all the tables asking if everything was ok.

Super friendly staff and cool atmosphere. Food isn't anything fancy but if you want good basic texmex, this is a great spot to get it.

I really don't think the bad reviews here are fair! We just returned from eating dinner at Posado's and we really enjoyed it. We had a coupon that drew us out that way, but we had driven by it often so it wasn't hard to find. Our waitress was really nice and accommodating, and the manager came by to ask how everything was. We ordered a large beef fajita dinner to share between the three of us (for which we had the two-for-one coupon from a mailer). This came with four sides from among several choices, so we chose Mexican rice, refried beans, tortilla soup (one large bowl which my husband ate and I sampled), and mixed grilled vegetables. We added spicy sausage (not really spicy, and covered with melted cheddar-type cheese), grilled shrimp brochette, plus I added a plump and tender grilled quail just because I could. Really liked getting garlic butter sauce (similar to Pappasito's or Mercado Juarez') with the fajitas. In most restaurants that only comes with the skewered shrimp. Is this gourmet Mexican food? No, but who cares?--That wasn't what we were seeking. It was all just good, solid Tex-Mex for a mid-week meal. The beef had some pink color left in it and was tender. The vegetables with which the shrimp and quail were served, as well as the larger grilled vegetables we ordered as a side, were cooked nicely and generously portioned. The other sides were fresh and tasty. The thin, crisp, hot chips and the salsa (which has a slow burn) were fresh and refilled before we asked. $1.50 Margaritas and $1.50 draft beers were cheaper than the iced tea in other places. The meal ended with free sopapillas (and honey sauce) and free soft serve ice cream cones. The restaurant is comfortable, colorful, and well-decorated. There are a couple of large rooms separated by a glass wall, with columns whose tops are wrapped in colored fluorescent or neon tubes which I thought were pretty, and a lot of plants which made the space look homey (well--homey if you live on the Riverwalk.) I could definitely see coming here with a large family including kids, or a big group from the office. The Mavs/Spurs game was on the TV. I'm really glad we came here and I'm sure we'll be back!

I must have lucked out. I read all the other bad reviews and was a bit apprehensive seeing how packed the parking lot was. I however had a great experience. My waiter was very busy, but he made several trips to check on us. I ordered fajitas and they were kind enough to bring out homemade tortillas right away since we had our hungry/fussy 13 month old, and brought more out with the fajita order which took less than 10 mins. Definitely the best $1.50 margarita I've ever had-not too week, not too strong. I will be back!

  • Donna Blue H.

The fajitas were very good and made with quality beef. The $1.50 margaritas were tasty but had no kick. The salsa was good as was the chips. The service was air -headed; both the expeditor and the server! The manager made regular rounds but asked single answer questions rather than open ended. So we answered: "yes, that's a big order, yes, we will take the food home." He should have asked: "how was the food?" Or "How was your service?" Not sure we will eat here again.

We had lunch here for my date's birthday.. It was delicious! I had the chicken enchiladas.. Very good. He had the fajitas (shocker..lol). Hands down the best fajitas we have had since moving to Dallas a year ago. The butter sauce is so delish! Our waitress Acacia was wonderful! Attentive without being a hovercraft. Overall.. Wonderful experience. Will definitely be back! (And people.. Remember.. It's TEX MEX..)

I'm close to giving them 4 stars but just can't let one single item on their menu carry their entire review. Steak fajitas are the bomb. Get them. Use the garlic butter on them. Go nom nom nom while you eat. Delicious flavor and all the right condiments. Fresh hot tortillas are perfection. I avoided this place for awhile because it had crappy reviews but these are muy delicioso and make the trip completely worth it. The chips and salsa? Horrible. The chips are okay but the salsa may as well be a jar of pace. So gross. Doesn't taste fresh at all. They'll bring you fresh tortillas out to snack on so just enjoy one or two of these plain and leave the salsa out of the picture. Posados you can get a 4th star from me if you can find some better salsa....don't buy it at the grocery store perhaps. They give you free ice cream....that's pretty cool. I'm usually too full to get any but that's awesome of them. I don't know what a sopapilla is but apparently they are free as well. They serve coke products...they're always a little funny tasting IMO and don't seem to have enough carbonation.... Atmosphere is just what you'd expect for a random chain mexican restaurant....nothing special but nothing awful either. Relatively clean. Pricing is average...they have lunch specials which seem to be worth it. Food: 4/5 (Fajitas only!) Chips & Salsa: 0/5 Service: 3/5 Ambiance: 3/5 Value: 3/5

If you are in the mood for great Tex-Mex, go to Posada Cafe in Plano. The restaurant is easy to spot due to the colorful and decorated building its in. Once you step foot into the restaurant, you can smell the aroma of food cooking ,and you can hear beautiful Mexican music playing in the background. Shortly after, we were graciously greeted by a sweet gentleman name Joshua. He recommended the house margarita for drinks. My husband ordered the margarita on the rocks and I ordered it frozen. Both drinks were refreshing! It went well with the baskets of complimentary freshly fried tortilla chips and salsa. In addition to the salsa, we ordered a bowl of queso dip on the side to accompany the chips. The chips, salsa and queso was yummy. Joshua refreshed our tortilla chips while we waited for our meal. I ordered the beef enchilada plate that came with tortilla soup and cilantro lime rice. A little disappointed that the enchiladas were made with ground beef instead of shredded beef. Although it was made with ground beef, it was delicious. After dinner, we ordered our complimentary sopapillas ( Mexican fried donut). It was warm, fluffy and yummy. Honey and butter was a great addition to the dessert. While we waited for our sopapillas, we headed over to the complimentary soft serve ice cream machine. There was chocolate, vanilla and swirl flavors. It was a nice touch to end our delicious meal. I enjoyed my first Tex-Mex experience here at Posada Cafe. The atmosphere was great, the service was excellent, the food was tasty, and the freebies (chips and salsa, sopapillas, soft serve ice cream and kids eat free on Mondays) were a nice surprise! Go and check it out! A good bang for your buck!

Mehxican. Highlights: fresh tortillas with butter and honey. Good for an very Americanized TEX-mex lunch.

Ugh. Bland texmex and weak drinks. Other neighboring texmex restaurants are all better, especially if you want a margarita. Went there once and I'll never return. Christina's is better option. Note/Update: Was drafted months ago but Yelp makes (or used to make you) log on to the desktop version before you can publish). Cristina's has moved - so I'd recommend On the Border for the closest option, Cantina Laredo if you don't mind spending a little more, Casa Rita if you aren't having drinks.

This has been my favorite restaurant for years. A huge factor in my decisions on tex-mex is the quality of their chips and salsa and Posados is hands down the best! They also have complimentary homemade corn and flour tortillas that you'd kill for. Plus, they have that liquid butter (sounds gross but is amazing) and you mix that into your salsa (fuggettaboutit!). Service is great and every meal ends with complimentary sopapillas. And it is never too crowded on weekends.

Not sure where all the negativity comes from. I've always been satisfied every time we've eaten here. Yes, the selection isn't a unique one, just standard big-chain Mexican fare, but portions are always large and hot from the oven. Wait staff are friendly and accommodating and the dining room well-appointed. It won't be a remarkably unique experience, but you will be satisfied by the food, atmosphere and staff. Recommend.

The good: They were able to accomodate our large group of 10+ and the service was actually really good. No complaints there. Attentive and kept the drinks filled. You know you're in trouble when the chips and salsa are the highlight of your meal. Relatively fresh tasting, not a lot of heat. Chips were light and not at all greasy. I ordered the Pedro. I asked the server if it was good and he assured me it was. He then had to read the menu to see what was in it when writing the order. That should have been my warning. The Pedro is shrimp and crawfish on top of two cheese enchiladas with a lime tequila sauce. Someone went a little crazy in the back with the salt because it was barely edible. Unfortunately I was starving and powered through. The shrimp was overcooked and tough. The cheese enchilada was a corn tortilla wrapped around what seemed like a brick of bright orange cheese. I love me some cheese but this was ridiculous. Tortilla soup was ok but whats with the cob of corn floating in the middle? Should have gone with the fajitas as others in my group were happy with their meals. I will make an effort to go back and try these before I write this place off completely. Id like to give the margaritas a shot too. For now, ehh, there's plenty better nearby.

We had a family birthday dinner at Posados last night and it's not my fave but there are a few good things to note: Affordable-YES! Clean-YES! Service-YES! Food-NO! I don't think I will go back. They didn't know how to make a skinny rita on the rocks. :(

Sat for 25min without any service! It's not like we were invisible since there was 5 of us & we were seated in the middle of the place. It's not like they were soo busy.. There was a bunch of waiters congregating and having a grand old chat at the front door. It's not really that much of an extravagant place to be waiting so long for service. Walked out!

Actually sitting in the restaurant right now. With a group of about 15 people and 6 kids. Our server Jeremy sucks horribly. He's constantly talking to the table as a group so you have to stop your conversation to figure out what he's saying. I wasn't able to order an appetizer because I was too busy talking to someone to notice he had taken orders for appetizers. What kind of server just walks up to a table and goes "who wants appetizers?" And then walks away before you even realize what he says. We had to hunt him down to order a drink. And even though we ordered all the same margarita. We had to correct him twice and he had to ask us again to verify. Ordering entrees was a complete nightmare. If you're having trouble keep tracking of orders you can stop with corny jokes that get irritating. Having been asking 4 times if I'm on my own ticket while placing orders also doesn't add to a pleasant experience. The food is mediocre and the drinks are weak. I would not recommend coming here. And I would definitely recommend walking out if you have Jeremy as your server. Actually no don't walk out run. Run quickly and fast.

Okay, time to be honest. This place is horrible for Mexican food. HOWEVER! They have a fantastic happy hour. It's $1.50 10oz. margaritas and domestic beer Monday through Friday all day long until they close at 10PM (and yea the margaritas are pretty good, obviously well tequila, but a good buzz after two of them). The downside to this is that it's not exactly a "happening" crowd here. Often it's quiet and kind of boring. Not to mention they're on you like a hawk trying to get you to leave the restaurant after 2 margaritas. It makes for a semi-miserable experience. If you want better food, just go across the street (other side of 75) and eat at Chuy's. But if you want a liquid lunch (plus some cheap queso) between work or class, Posado's is the place to go.

$1.50 margaritas! Need I say more? The food was really good both times I went. I had their grilled tilapia with the citrus salsa (hey, I'm not a huge fan of the original tex-next good items) and the second time, I had their dip sampler which was shared by others. The item that made my heart melt was their warm sopapilla!! Man! Those alone are with the trip!

We had a horrible experience the first time we went, but we decided to give it one more chance. It is now officially off of our list. Really weak food, Horrible service, Rude staff, I don't know where to start. I'm going to say this, and it may sound rude, but English. It's the reason our order was wrong in numerous ways and we couldn't convey to the staff what we were trying to say. Oh, and cheddar cheese enchiladas topped with melted american cheese is just NOT RIGHT!

Used to come here quite a bit back before there was a yelp and the food was always awesome but for some reason it always upset my stomach afterwards and I'm hoping it was because its so rich. Now I visit only when I have a hankering for fresh flour tortillas. Today my table had the dip sampler along with beef and shrimp fajitas, the Pedro, and I had the beef fajita enchiladas. The fajita meat was well done, which for me if its cooked longer than pink in the middle you should just throw it away or use it as dog food so not very pleasing. If it wasn't for the fact that it was tender I would have sent it back. Everything else was great except for the salsa but then again their salsa has always tasted more like a tomato stew so not rating down for it now. Once again stomach cramps after eating there. I blame me though because I can sure put away a lot of the fresh flour tortillas!

A friend suggested this place for another friend's 50th B-day party. I agreed only because I wasn't running the show...and Posado's wasn't bad in the past. Well the 1 star rating isn't for the food (that was 4 star). It was for the service and attitude from the waiter. WTF! Having a bad day? STAY HOME. Seems I annoyed him with the question about their "Domestic beer deal, 10 oz for $1.50" Well, Shiner is a DOMESTIC beer, made IN TEXAS! He said "No, Posados classifies it as an IMPORT" WTF! Anyways, moving along, the party was fun, and the waiter comes along and asks if I'd like another beer, of course. 20 min goes by....no beer, and when he comes back I asked and he said "It's on the way". On the way? From where? Shiner, TX? (only 294 mi away). So the manager comes by and I inform him I'd like another Shiner....and within 2 min, there it is. Anyways, still a good place and I'll be back, but if I have this waiter again, I'll be asking for another one.

This place is spectacular! The place is lit up like an amusement park. A real comfortable environment. When the hostess suggested a place to sit we wanted to sit somewhere where the air was not blowing directly on us and she found a table that we felt comfortable at. Of course I ordered a drink, as I always do and asked our waiter to tell us about the different kinds available. His name is Andrew. He deserves the waiter of the year award. When we presented him with what we didn't like, he gave us suggestions that complimented what we did like. He took the time to explain the dishes and really made our experience here a memorable one. We said we would like some queso with the chips in addition to the salsa that was served and quickly a hot bowl came out. My husband had the beef tacos with mex rice and charro beans which were really good. My so had the burrito platter which I assumed was good bkz he left nothing for anyone to taste. I had the Monterrey tex-mex combo with rice and black beans. I didn't enjoy the black beans that much, mainly because I grew up eating beans Cuban style and these were different. We also had the sopapillas that were good a hot light and fluffy. Next time my office needs to have a working or otherwise lunch, I will definitely advise Posados. The service was outstanding, food hot and fresh, restaurant nicely lit, good family crowd. Andrew is the best waiter in Plano! Patronize this establishment!

Based on the Yelp reviews I was hesitant to go here with my family during Thanksgiving break. Since many others were interested in going I kept my Yelp reviews to myself and went along with it. I'm very glad I did. The waitstaff was very friendly, and recognized from the beginning that our large party might want separate checks. At the end of the meal when he brought our checks he pointed out that he didn't include the mandatory gratuity that restaurant policy allowed him to place on our group. I really appreciate this, because I feel tipping should be based on service, and not size of group. (I understand the arguments, and now isn't the place to discuss them) I ordered a plate with a beef burrito, fajita taco, flauta, beans and rice. The rice was "meh" but everything else was very good. The fajita meat was tender and flavorful, but I wish they had provided "fixings" to put in there. The burrito was the right size for such a large platter of food, and not typical of what you think of for jumbo sized burritos. It was made with a regular sized tortilla. The flautas tasted like they were fresh and not some store prepackaged garbage that you get some places. I loved the beans. I got the charro beans and they were probably some of the best I've ever had. I would have been happy with a bowl of charro beans and some cornbread. I can't wait to try the Posados Cafe in Round Rock to see if it is as good as the one we tried in Plano.

Not sure why so many bad reviews. First timer and stopped by for a solo late lunch. I had great service and my food was excellent! Had the Cancun combo and everything was perfect even with all the changes I made to " customize" my order. Give this place a try!

I went here with a friend for lunch in Feb. 2012. I had been here about a year earlier. Prices have gone up and food quality has gone down. I had a 2 enchalada lunch plate with Mexican rice and refired beans which cost $9.30 (including tax but not tip). Refired beans were like soup. Cheese enchilada looked like it was made with some cheap bright yellow stuff; weird. The chicken enchilada was sparse on the chicken. Next time, we'll just go across to the other side of US 75 and go to Abuelos or Chuy's. Either one is better than Pasados.

GOOD -Chips & Salsa -Friendly, Attentive Service -Free Ice Cream -Free Sopapillas BAD -Prices. My Entree, of Chicken Fajita Enciladas was $12.99. I don't mind paying that much if the food is GREAT like Uncle Julios, Pappasitos, Abuelos, etc. -The food. The above mentioned entree - Not much chicken, what was there was salty(!), the cheese in the enchiladas was not too tasty either. The refried beans were okay but somewhat runny. Conclusion - Go across the highway to Chuys or Abuelos

Wow! I am impressed. Fresh salsa and light airy corn chips to start. Not all chips and salsa are created equal. This is good stuff. $1 Margaritas the night we were there. Yummy! We shared fajitas and the garlic mushrooms. I stuffed myself. It was so good I just wanted to keep eating It was all so fresh and flavorful. I've seen this place on the road for years. I wish I had gone sooner. Thanks to Clay and Brandye I had a reason to go. I'll definitely be back.

The only reason I agreed to go here on my most recent visit was that a few others in our group wanted to go - and we each got to take advantage of some nifty discounts that evening. Most Mexican restaurants have chips and salsa and Posados is no exception, but everyone really looks forward to the simple treat of their warm tortillas with butter and honey. When I first heard of this I imagined individually wrapped pats of butter, not some ungodly room-temperature liquid margarine out of a squeeze bottle. Is this for real?? Since I wanted to avoid anything that resembled "traditional" Mexican in this place, I went with the Pollo Ixtapa with black beans and sauteed veggies. The otherwise satisfactory chicken was smothered with greasy onions and peppers. Black beans are usually safe as they were here, which is good since the veggies were overcooked (mainly the zucchini ....bleh). Even something as simple as proper food preparation is lost on the employees here. One person ordered a platter with a crunchy taco, another got the puffed tacos - as each of them picked up their tacos to take a bite, grease/liquid poured out of the other end, causing a small spill for one annoyed customer. Why the cooks couldn't be bothered to drain their meat as they scooped it I can't figure out. If you like food that is mostly reminiscent of Panchos or El Chico, by all means this will fit the bill.

I love Posados, I just don't like this location. First of all, there are no booths. I prefer booths but tables are okay. The service was not good. Our waitress got our drink order wrong, she was absent for refills and it took forever for us to get our order. This is the second time I've been to this Posados and both times were not pleasant. Posados food is good and the Mesquite location is awesome. The manager always makes it a point to come to the table and check on your meal. At this one, we hardly saw our waitress, much less a manager.

FAJITAS, Y'ALL!!! Posados is my go-to for one thing...FAJITAS! They have the best Fajitas of anywhere in the metroplex. Can you say fajita butter? OMG. I swear you could eat a roof shingle with that fajita butter on it and you would go back for seconds. The fajitas are also flame grilled, and are just terrific. I usually go to this location or to the one in Mesquite. The one is Mesquite is a little nicer, but Plano is closer. Either way, if I want fajitas this my place. Their tortillas are better than any I've had and I'm not much of a tortilla fan. Also, they have good tamales. I have heard that their other stuff is just average, but since I'm never going to eat anything but fajitas there, I don't care. :-)

My wife and I went here for lunch because there was a sign out from about lunch specials. The seating was immediate as very few customers were inside. The service though was not very immediate and took a little while. The food is just OK in my opinion. When this place first opened a few years back the service and food was outstanding. I have no idea why it is not the same today. Prices are reasonable and the soup is excellent. Free soft serve ice cream.

After posting this review, I was contacted by restaurant management with an apology for our bad experience and an invitation for a complimentary return visit. I did return to the restaurant to give it another try, and was greeted with a much better experience this time around. The manager personally attended to us during this visit, and I'm happy to report that the quality of the food was significantly better. I still had a little trouble getting the margarita right, but the manager worked with me and we got it right on the third try. (As an aside, I did some experimenting at home after this visit, and I think their formula was light on tequila and heavy on the other stuff.) For the record, the skinny margarita was the one that finally hit the spot! As I expressed to the manager, I still don't care for the queso dip at all. I don't think it's a matter of quality - in each of our visits the taste and consistency were the same, I just didn't care for their particular blend of ingredients in the dip All in all, this last visit was the best one I've had at Posado's. I sincerely appreciate the restaurant management reaching out to me, and I'd be willing to consider this establishment again in the future.

Good food....slow service. We went there for lunch today- party of three. Austin our server took our order and brought the drinks promptly. After that we didn't see him for about a half hour! It was like ghost town.... Not a server in sight and when we did see a server they looked the other way. We asked for our salad to come out before our food- Austin said "no problem". Salad took about 35 mins to come out and then our food came out 10 mins later. 45 mins after we ordered and it was not hot. Food was tasty- enjoyed the butter sauce they provide on the side. We ordered the tilapia lunch portion which was decent in portion size. Enough for me, plus I was able to sub the rice for veggies at no extra cost. Bummer that the service was so slow!

I used to really like Posados many many years ago. Now I find the food a little too salty and don't even look forward to the sopapillas anymore. Service was a little lacking even though it wasn't crowded on a Saturday night.

    (2)

We love Posado's! Their salsa is delicious, and their sopapillas are amazing. You get a lot of food for a very reasonable price. Their tortillas are made in-house and you can tell. You spend 8-14 dollars for a plate, and then they load you down with free goodies- ice cream, chips and salsa, tortillas, and sopapillas. We're devoted fans!

This is a weak three. I came here for a business lunch meeting. They have a lively atmosphere on the inside and outside, even though it's totally catered to white people. Our server was a nice person, but pretty impatient by some of the questions my boss was asking. Maybe I'm so use to my boss's inquisitive nature that I don't get short with him anymore, but our server certainly seemed frustrated. The chips and salsa were ok, but nothing special. I ordered a fajita salad. It was primarily iceberg lettuce and sour cream. The fajita meat was pretty good, but the salad as a whole was so overpowered by the globs of sour cream they put. I tried some of co-workers enchiladas, and I wasn't impressed. It was quite dry and had little flavor. The rice was whatever, but the beans were actually ok. I'd say overall its decent, but more mediocre than memorable.

A good little Mexican restaurant. Service is ok, as is the food. Actually the fajitas are very good. It is slightly over priced for what you get (after all Mexican food is extremely cheap to make) again the food was good just not on the same par as a 5 star restaurant. Price is the only reason it does not get a 4 star rating. Other than that you cant go wrong for Mexican. I do recommend this restaurant! 3 Stars!

Our Server was Leah. Note: There is a New manager. We Sat near back to stay toasty warm. Brrr. Cold night. Sangria to warm the body: CHECK WARM chips & Salsa: CHECK Came in on a Valpack BOGO enchilada deal. Both got Sour Cream chicken enchiladas. (Note: only the black beans have no pork or lard.) Added jalapeños to mine for a little color and bite. (Most Tex-Mex places do this by default. Cost = $0.75) Enchiladas were a bit bland but tasted much better with peppers and Salsa. Cilantro rice in the black beans was a winner. Wife dumped Mexican rice in he beans with similar satisfaction. The Yaho Sangria ($ 6.00) was very good. Server hit her stride about 6-7 min after seating and was full on until the end. We let her know this was to be a "redemption visit" and we would consider the visit and future patronage accordingly. They passed! We would have liked to meet the new manager but that was not to happen tonight. Pity. They did a good job tonight. For a Saturday night, the number of patrons was disappointing compared to other establishments in the immediate area. Hopefully the new management will pull this place out. Otherwise, it may not survive. Revised 2015-MAR-1 @ 13:23 CST (clarification of description)

This restaurant isn't the best Tex Mex in the metroplex, but they are pretty decent. They do pick 2 combos for lunch at only 6.99, so it's a pretty good deal. I ordered soft beef tacos, and they were pretty good. The chips and salsa are pretty good as well, and the beef enchiladas weren't that bad either. The restaurant has $1.50 MARGARITAS!!! You can not beat that price, and they are pretty good margaritas! They serve them all day, so come check this place out for happy hour. The service was good, so I will come back when I'm in the area.

Great service, fast turn around on our food from order to delivery , & reasonably priced! Queso is plain, but the sweet tea is good! Try the Enchiladas Tres!

Food is awful. Just, awful. Almost everything is COVERED in cheap cheese sauce and chili. The cheese sauce/queso they use is literally worse than just straight velvita. Their house salsa is disgusting. That being said, they have some really cheap drink specials.

Took my son here for a late night bite and came away highly dissappointed. Ordered the spinach enchiladas which were way too salty. My rice was cold and I thought the service was a bit lacking considering the place was 3/4's empty. Also too, ordered the Pescado Del Mar which consisted of a piece of tilapia the size of a 1/2 a slice of cheese. Mentioned this to the waitress who seemed the least bit interested in my complaint. That's cool, no sweat cuz I definitely ain't coming back. Pros: The neon lights on the exterior. Looks cool driving down 75 on a summer night, also, there's the uhhhh, well, let me get back to u on that one. Cons: Food Service

.... Definitely disgusting. It's a shame to even call this a Mexican restaurant. This was more like an Americanized wannabe authentic Mexican restaurant. Let's start off with the chips and salsa, the chips were stale, and the salsa, sure it was decent it's Tostito's brand. What so called Mexican restaurant does not carry horchata (rice water) or even know what it is? The soft drinks itself were flat, no carbonation. We had 2 small children and asked for kids drinks, they gave them old stale yellowish regular cups, with a takeout lid. The alcoholic beverages were HORRIBLE!! There was hardly any liquor, very sour bitter and overpriced. The waitress was careless, looked like a hot mess. Her hair was all raggedy, all over the place. Not very clean looking for a dining place. When asking her questions about the menu, she was very snippy and short. She took over 10 minutes to take our food order after getting our drinks, she did not bother to ask if we wanted a refill on stale chips or water. While waiting for her to take our food order, we decided to try the free vanilla ice cream. BIG MISTAKE!! It tasted nothing like vanilla, more like sherbert. Once the waitress decided to take our order we just asked for our tab. We did not dare to try the over priced Americanized food. Overall looks are deceiving, the outside is very appealing, but the service and drinks were horrible. We will never come back. -FYI Bj's steakhouse is amazing-

I was very impressed with this delightful TexMex place. A few perks are the free ice cream and free cinammon bread desert were awesome. I loved the garlic butter sauce that came with my fajitas and bought some extra to take home. I must say the service was amazing too so it must have improved since other reviews!

My employer cater lunch every Friday. Posado's catered this week & last (A&B schedules, 1/2 office is off every Friday, rotating). Our options were Enchiladas (Sour Cream Chicken, Cheese & Onion or Beef). Build your own Beef or Chicken Tacos, Chicken or Beef Flautas, Chicken, Cheese or Beef Quesadillas, Refried Beans, Black Beans, Mexican Rice, Corn and Flour Tortillas (with butter), Guacamole, Queso. I am usually a Sour Cream Chicken Enchilada girl. And there is always the old standby Cheese & Onion Enchilada. So, it was much to my surprise when my favorite component of our buffet-style spread today was the Beef Enchiladas. The flauta was ok. The Cheese Quesadilla rivaled my "shredded cheese on a tortilla zapped in the microwave for 20 seconds" version. The Guacamole had good flavor. I'm going to be slightly generous and give this 3 stars. It was really a 2 1/2 star meal. The extra 1/2 star is for making a beef enchilada I actually liked.

I like to be quick... Waited 17 minutes before someone even came to get our drink order. Took him another 15 minutes to bring 2 waters and 1 coke! When we got the food, I was pretty disappointed for the price! The waiter seemed to be very aggravated when I asked for extra napkins... Sorry but I will not be going back to this place!!!

Sorry, Posados, you and I are done. I enjoy your salsa and fajitas but cannot stand the way you nickel and dime your customers. $.75 for a tiny metal cup of cheese? Get real. I used to love your chicken tortilla soup, until you got stingy with your chicken. I had one bite in my last bowl!!! And then there was the time that I ordered an enchilada with queso sauce. The first time it was brought out with sour cream. Ok, you're human, you make mistakes. The problem I had when I got my new one was that you covered the original one with cheese sauce. I almost vomited all over my plate. Too bad, you had some great servers.

Taco bell is better. The tamale was frozen and tasted bad. The sauce lacked flavor. The service at the bar was slow. I had to ask for a knife. There were kids every where. Don't go.

I don't recommend dining here for some Tex-Mex food. Go over to Abuelo's because the food is so much better than Posados. My DH and I decided to try out this place for the first place. We definately will not return! The food didn't taste as fresh as it should be, tortilla chips were stale, salsa tasted as if it came from a pre-package jar. So word from the wise, take your money elsewhere.

I don't know why people are so negative...this place is a good, solid, cheap, TEX-MEX place. If you want authentic Mexican, a franchise in Texas...probably not the place to go. I have had one bad waiter there...but honestly..that can happen anywhere and I have been here many times and so I can forgive the one time. Portions are large, food is good, and free sopapillas and a ice cream. It's not the best I have every had, but it is consistently good and I come back time after time.

I went to my mailbox yesterday and found a nifty gift card for Posados Cafe here in Plano. Happy, Happy...Joy, Joy! With a limited budget I'm more than willing to try a new place with a friend or the kids if they are willing to give me $10 in free grub just to show up. Plus that, a new place to eat is always a good thing...so I called up a friend and off we went. Being that it was just 5:30 on a Monday, the parking lot was fairly empty and I was very happy to see that they offered a free nacho bar during happy hour. As I walked in I was thinking to myself that the free $10 in grub just went up to $15 or more. Have a nice cool Shiner Bock and fill up on Nachos and then I can take most of my meal home for later dining! Cha-ching! As we entered, the place was mostly deserted. We were greeted by a very friendly, if over-enthusiastic waitress who seated us and told us that it was happy hour (like that's not the first thing I look at when I enter a joint) and were told that all domestic beer was cheap. As I looked at the drink card I ordered a Shiner Bock...and was promptly told that Shiner was considered an Import even though it was listed as Domestic on the menu... I don't want to go off on a rant, but I'm going to anyway. Shiner Bock is NOT a premium beer. If you live in Texas and are told that it is, ask for The Man and fight the power. Seriously. The reason that Shiner is treated as a Premium beer can be for one of two reasons if not both. 1) The big labels cut these restaurants a deal on their beer so they will discount labels like Bud and Miller so they will sell more....thereby trying to undercut the local labels and drive them out of business and/or 2) Because it is brown it's trendy. Shiner Bock is good beer, but it is not a premium beer. It's the crap that college students consume for cheap along with Natural Light and Shaeffer and Milwaukee's Best. It's working man's beer. It's akin to Lone Star in price if not quality. So I told the waitress that we wouldn't have a bar tab (a restaurants big money maker) because of this policy of Shiner being Premium and over-priced. She offered the nacho bar anyway, so I went to get some queso and taco meat. OK...another rant.... This is friggin Texas. Almost everyone working in restaurant kitchen from the most common chain to the poshest place is probably from South of the Border. When you go to a TexMex place in Texas you expect certain things. You expect that they are using real ingredients and that everything will be brown. When you go to the ballpark you expect certain things. That the nacho cheese will come out of a can and beer will be $12 a cup. These scenarios should never cross....EVER! So...upon coming to the "Nacho Bar" I found three chafing dishes. One with refried beans, one with neon orange melted "cheeze-food", and one with grey ground beef. I got a small amount of cheese and meat with a grimace on my face and went back to the table. With one taste I knew that there was no actual dairy in the cheese and the taco meat tasted like...well....nothing. Just protein and grease. That's all I needed to know for how the rest of the meal would go. That was the moment the waitress came back...and to her credit she had talked the manager into selling me a Shiner for the Domestic happy hour price. I politely told her that it was OK, to charge us for the two iced teas we had ordered because we were going to leave. She asked why, and I politely told her. She comped us the tea, I tipped her a couple of bucks for her time (wasn't her fault the food was crap), I gave her the gift card for the next customer who had the bad taste to eat there and we were gone to a different place. The moral of this story is....sometimes free is too high a price to pay for bad food. Save yourself. Eat elsewhere.

To get to this place you need to be on the west feeder/frontage road of 75/North Central Expressway inbetween West Spring Creek Parkway and West Parker Road. From West Spring Creek Parkway you should drive south and see the Red Lobster which neighbors Pasados Cafe and it is on your imidiate right. This place has the best Tex-mex food around!!! Also, you get complimentary tortillas, chips and salsa, sopapillas, and ice cream when you buy a meal! MMMmmm... so good and the price is an extra bonus! So if you are starving, I think that this is a good place to go! I always order the cheese enchiladas with queso sauce on top and am never disappointed!!! The platter that I order, comes with rice and beans. If you want to try something new... now not everyone likes what I do to my hot sauce, but my husband and I like to add the squeezable butter to our hot sauce and mix it all together and eat it that way. So if you are daring you can try that, but their hot sauce is good by itself. On the sopapilla, I like to add a little bit of squeezable butter and honey on it. My husband recommends the fajitas (both the chicken and the beef). Also he recommends the chimichangas. I have tasted the fajitas (off of my husband's plate) too. They are good, and they give you a special (I think it is garlic) sauce with it. The service is ok, I tend to compare it to the original Posados in Tyler, Texas and their service. Almost always, there is someone other than your waiter/waitress that comes by to see how everything is for you. So I enjoy the accountability that they try to maintain. The food is so good I tend to forget if the service is not tip-top. I suggested that they add the website to this page for the Plano Posados Cafe because at the time that I wrote this review they did not have the website up, but if they do not put it up in time for your reading this is their website... posados.com ... here you can look at their many locations and look at their menus. I hope this helps! I will try to update if my husband decides to order another platter, since I eat off of his plate and he likes to try new things!

I actually really love this place. To each his own I guess. Food is very good. I love their chili rellenos. So good. I have had good service and great food. Prices are no more than other comparable Tex Mex places

I am going to disagree with a previous reviewer by saying this IS some of the WORST tex-mex I have ever had. Coupled with some of the worst service, that results in one star for Posados. The only redeeming feature of this place is the nice low lighting and the fact their music is not blaring over the loud speakers. When I say that we had bad service, I mean we had B-A-D service. It wasn't a question really of how often he came by the table, but an issue of attitude. He was totally disinterested, barely spoke two words to us, had a bored tone in his voice and actually said "whatever" at one point. How this prize of an employee GOT this job is beyond me. He also, when asked if the guacamole was made fresh, he said it was made to order, but when it was brought out, it was SO clearly from a package. What a lying little snot. The food was a joke. There was a little too much neon orange on my plate, the cheese was absolutely rubbery, and my husband said his seafood tasted...iffy... or really he said it tasted "old".. yikes! Neither of us even finished half of our food. Not to mention for the utter LOW quality of the food, it was overpriced. Really a completely unsatisfying tex-mex experience, and a waste of money. We will certainly be sticking to On the Border or somewhere else from now on.

It's your typical Tex Mex joint, but it's definitely a good one. I love the fajitas here and they give you decent portions to share. Chips are crispy and the salsa is hot. The queso is also very good. I love the way the restaurant is set up...very festive. Try the sopapillas with honey for dessert. It can definitely get busy and crowded here on the weekends. And when that happens the service can be hit or miss. But I do prefer this place over other Tex Mex joints in the area...the food when I have been there is served up fast and hot.

The atmosphere of this place is ok we go for lunch. The food is ok not fantastic. We go for the lunch special which is $6.99 for the pick 2. I order the enchiladas. However; there is a waiter named Juan that is a awful waiter. He mixes up the orders and takes your food before your even done.

What the heck?! Just came to the Frisco location and discovered that the menu has changed. Now the food is the most expensive tex/mex around, and the worst of it? No longer serving refried black beans. Our family has eaten them as their first foods since our first son was known as "the black bean baby" by the staff 6 years ago. Now they serve what everyone else serves: slimy black beans in muddy looking water. So beyond disappointed. We will not be going back as a) it's now beyond our price range and b) same ol blah beans we can get anywhere--for much less.

Only giving one star, based on the food. The service was so-so, but still didn't overcome the fact that the food was terrible. I wanted to order tacos, with two kinds of meat, rather than just all the same, they said no. Really? That was a first. My daughter ordered some enchilada plate, and it was covered in what seemed to be white, thick, cheese? Maybe. We still don't know what it was. Overall the food was strange, and tasteless. Seasoning was nowhere to be found. It's sad because we had been wanting to try this place for awhile. The outside looks bright and fun.. don't let it fool you. They need help, it's probably why the manager was walking around giving out coupons for when you come back. We left ours on the table, won't be going back. Ever. We spent $90+ and left utterly irritated and dissatisfied. I wanted to complain, but I think I was just too shocked, and honestly the manager was pretty busy putting out other fires from complaints at tables all around us. Really too bad, this place could be so good if they had fun, happy servers and good food. We could make much better Mexican food at home for a lot less.

First off, lets get things in perspective. This is a Tex-Mex almost-chain. Its not fine dining, its not authentic Mexican. Surely there is a big bin of chips and salsa in a huge vat somewhere in the back. I think that should be a pretty good setting to what to expect from this place -- Its a place you go when you're close to Posados then you are to On the Border and you're hungry for a burrito. Ok, lets move on. Is there anything sadder then a half-full suburban tex-mex restaurant on Cinco de Mayo? No, I don't think there is. I have been to Posados 4 times now, I guess. Once I had a good coupon, the second time I went because my daughter likes queso and theirs tastes like actual cheese, not velveeta. And twice now I have gone because I thought Chuy's across the highway would be too busy. In fact, I assumed Posados would be too busy, as we were looking for a place to go on Cinco de Mayo and my wife didn't like my other idea. But we tried it and thought we'd just roll down the highway to Wild Wings or BJs or something if it was crowded. Lo an behold, it was maybe 1/3 full in the middle of the dinner rush on what should be the busiest day of the year for a Mexican restaurant. What gives? Too many choices? Living in the shadow of a more popular beast across the way? I don't know the answer, but I do know that every time I go to Posados, I come away delightfully surprised. I know that I have ordered something different each time i have been here and everything has been good. I know that things are spiced a little differently here than other places around town so that it doesn't taste just like the Tex-Mex I get at any other place. I know my service has been great, servers have been informative, managers have been attentive, drinks have come expediently. And I know that there wont be a wait, which is actually a real shame.

Service was good......waitress asked me on 4 different occasions if everything was ok or if I needed anything else......I ordered the beef tamale combo......the butter that was served with the tortillas was in a squeezable bottle....I thought that I should have been served "pats"......also no water was offered...had to ask for it......the napkin was a paper one....there was no "crowd" in the restaurant and got seated right away..., but it was Sunday evening at 9 pm......

I dont get all these bad reviews...I really like Posados. Its definitely not authentic mexican food..but I have never had a bad experience. I love the chicken fajitas (with garlic butter yay!) i think the queso is cheesy dreamy happiness, the tortillas are warm (and free) and the tea is very good. I have always had good service and there are plenty of tables so no waiting. Okay..I take it back one time i had bad service but it was a long time ago..and the guy was new.

I'm a chicken sour cream enchilada snob...and this exactly was not the worst I've been too but its there! i had the matamoros dish. 1 sour cream enchilada, small side ck fajitas, and 1 ck tostada...with of course beans and rice. the chips and salsa were good! the beans and rice were the best food on my plate. it all tasted the same (chicken variations). There was no zest to the food. the chicken had no flavor...like it was lacking in seasoning! My hubby and i both agreed we would never come back to this place. Priscilla, our waitress was nice...but it took her almost 10min to come greet us and get our drink order. We paid halfway through our meal since we knew we would not be getting dessert, once she got her $10 tip (we were still trying to eat the bland food on our plate) we never saw her again... Jeez! I would not recommend this place...we only came because Chuys was super full!

The restaurant was nice and the chips and salsa were good. I ordered the seafood enchiladas that came with a lime sauce. It looked and smelled great but after first taste I was so disappointed. The whole thing shrimp, craw fish, cheese and all tasted like a salty lime. The lime was so overwhelming I could not taste the flavors of anything else on the plate. My friend ordered a Chile reallano with very little sauce and it tasted good .

The beef fajitas were quite awesome with their special butter sauce. It's like they took a thick steak and cut them up after cooking it. The house margarita was great too. I have to say that the service was slow, but it seemed like they were just understaffed that night. The free ice cream at the end of the meal made up for it.

Not the worst Tex-Mex I've ever had, but nothing special. The more neon lights a Tex-Mex place has, the more the cause for worry when it comes to the quality of your meal. Chicken enchiladas are a good litmus test; their's were very average at best. And the Tortilla soup was dreadful. Just dreadful. The service was good and quick, though. Plenty of TVs as well.

The past few times I've been here, I had much better experiences with this place. The first time I was in LOVE with their food, the second time we celebrated a pretty successful birthday there and the last time (a few days ago), I thought it was just decent. I don't think I'll be going goo goo ga ga over their food anymore but I might be back. The service was sufficient.

Been eating Posado's ever since they came to the DFW area. It is Tex-Mex and most usually the wife and I split a single order of Chicken Fajitas. Love their thin tortillas and their tortilla chips. You get free tortillas before your meal with soft butter and honey on the table. After the meal you get a sopapilla (included with the meal) and after that you can get an ice cream cone (chocolate, vanilla or swirl) on your way out the door. Or if you like dessert first, get it on the way in. Service is excellent 99% of the time. The portions are generous. Only 2 compaints ... 1) the music is too loud but what eatery isn't? I believe they and every other eatery thinks you come in to listen to the music instead of socializing with your party. "What did you say? Speak up. I can't hear you!" 2) The price of soft drinks, tea, coffee, etc. $2.25 is ridiculous for a $0.25 glass of coke. Will eateries look around ... how many people you see drinking water? Bunches ... all day long. So my complaint about Posado's is the same for every eatery I've been in ... too loud, drinks too expensive. Other than that ... Posado's - great food, great service, great price [for the food of course)!

  • John P.

I really WANT to give Posado's a higher rating, but the spotty service really drags them down. The first few times I went we had fantastic service, but I'd say the last 5 times have been very up and down. My advice to the management is to tighten up the reigns on the staff here a bit. Anyway, if you get a good waiter you're in for some good food. As has been previously mentioned, save a little room for the free deserts, and the chips and salsa are good. So it's quite easy to split a meal here, and the fajitas are a great choice. The atmosphere is nice with interesting decor, the food is better than average, and I'd say most of the dishes here are good. The place does poorly on the Frisco Health Inspection list ( permits.ci.frisco.tx.us/… ) but all in all it is worth a visit.

Okay, who is writing these reviews? The competition, perhaps? Posado's is simply the best Mexican food restaurant I've ever found. I always get the chicken fajitas. Yum! Yum! The chicken has this amazing flavor to it, and the tortillas are fresh and delicious! The chips and salsa are great, too. This is not just my opinion, either. Everyone I've taken to Posado's has agreed it's the best Mexican around. The only negative I can possibly find for Posado's is that I really prefer booths, and they only have regular tables. I can't find one bad thing to say about the food or the service. Absolutely the best Mexican ever!

  • John L.

I have to admit I'm a little puzzled by some of the bad reviews here, but to each their own. I have eaten here probably 8-10 times in the last couple of years, and have not had a bad experience, food or service-wise. It is definitely Tex-Mex, so if you're looking for something authenic, look elsewhere. But isn't that what 95% of the other Mexican restaurants around here are, also? Why would you give a bad review for that? Anyway, the margaritas are reasonably priced, particularly the "grande" ones, and they taste pretty good. Love the queso, and the chips and salsa are always good. I recommend the fajitas, the beef is well seasoned, and tender, a good cut of meat. What I particularly like is the little side of garlic dipping sauce that comes with it, it's delicious! And the charro beans are some of the best I've tasted! Sopapillas are complimentary, and always hot and fresh! Free ice cream for the kids big and small, but I've always been too stuffed to even consider that. They're open till 11:00 p.m. on weekends, which works out well if you tend to eat late like we often do. Plenty of seating, so I've never had to wait, a big plus for me.

I've been wanting to try this place for a couple of reasons. First is for their very colorful building and second is that the parking lot is always packed. Yesterday, I had the chance to try it with my TangoTab coupon on hand. The inside is bigger than I expect it, It is not as busy as I thought it would be (packed parking lot). Service is great and had no complaints. The food.. just ok (as I remind my self that this is a chain, not really a tex-mex chain fan) but not bad. I would come back if I have another coupon to use.

This was my first time here. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. We had fajitas the chicken ones and they were very good. We were surprised about having sopapillas has a complement dessert! We will come back and I recommend it to other diners passing this way

I came to Posados for lunch I was looking for some good Mexican food and Posados stuck out to me so I thought I would give it a try. When I walked in I knew from that moment the food was going to be for tourists and by that I mean fake, unauthentic Mexican food and it was. The salsa tasted like Pace picante salsa, but the chips were good, Fajitas were ok but I would of liked more meat than onions and the guacamole here was pretty boring as well. Now I have had worse Mexican food so thats not the reason for the 1 star. The reason for the 1 star was the service. We were one of the only customers there and it took 30 minutes for our waiter to get our drink order then another 20 minutes for him to take our order. After that we didn't see him till he brought us our check 45 minutes later. I hear they give free sopapillas with every meal but I wouldn't know since our waiter never brought us ours.
