Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

This is my time here but I am not at all impressed with this restaurant. First, the complementary salad means three flakes of lettuce and 3 shredded carrots. Then the sushi role we ordered was all opened. Now waiting for the hibachi chicken.

The place smelled like floor cleaner and fish. My husband and I got sick from the sushi. We ordered a variey of things to try, and the waitress was apprehensive about bringing everything we ordered out. Like it was an inconvenience for her. We won't be going back.

Overall , I was dissappointed. If you are looking for some cheap sushi, I guess it's ok. When you walk up to the front door there are banners saying "50% off!" ... I should have gone around the corner to the Iron Chef at that point.... The Tuna was fresh, but everything was served quickly. Our waiter twice brought us some free sushi options to try .... not sure if he was trying to build up his tip, make up for the weak food, or if they just like to give everything away at a discount. Overall, visually, it wasn't too bad. I just expected so much more reading all the reviews. I won't be back

Great sushi. Great hibachi. Great service. Although it isn't your "fancy" place like some hibachi grills, they always greet you when you come in and always say farewell when you're leaving. My wife and I go here often and we will continue to do so. Highly recommended.

We really liked this place, fresh food and great friendly staff. I think we've been there three times this week. We will continue to go back. Love the sushi, will go back to try the hibachi. Ask for Tara, she's a wonderful waitress.

Currently my favorite sushi restaurant. The Butterfly Kiss, Lady Linda, and Kaze Special rolls rank high on my list, but every roll, even the ones I didn't like, were fresh and well made. Have not tried the Hibachi side.

Can I just say... LOVE this freakin place! Kay (sushi chef) and Song (hostess) are wonderful people. While waiters have come and gone, they remain constant and keep me coming back. They are very friendly and personable... Remember what rolls I like and are able to make new suggestions based off my preferences. The running joke among the chefs is "no avocado, no cucumber, add cream cheese" lol What can I say? I know what I like! As for the food... Each time I finish a roll I close my eyes really tight and click my heels in hopes I'll awaken from this realistic dream in sushi heaven with an amazing, delicious roll still sitting in front of me. It has yet to happen. If you're not eating sushi here... You're missing out on something great!

Another great dinner at Kaze. Always greeted and sat quickly. We all love the dinner salad and soup. Prettiest roll and oh so yummy "Mango dan Fango" the spelling could be wrong. You'll love this pink roll with pink sauce.

Not worth it!!! had Hibachi with some friends and our cook sucked! We didn't even get the show that comes with it. Maybe it was because some of us didn't order big so maybe that explains the rude waitress. There's waaaay to many better Hibachi places in Dallas to ever go back there.

Really good Sushi in Mesquite. Was working in Mesquite last night and craving something light, so I decided on Sushi. Thanks to Yelp, I found this really good place. Very thankful to Summer H. who tipped me off to the older waitress who is trying to up-sell or sell you way more than you want. It totally happened to me too, but thanks to Summer, I was ready. The decor in this place was really classy. The dining room and the bar were decorated in a really cool, modern, Japanese way. There were even some cute little minions on the bar. Check out the pic. Anyway- I ordered a California roll, sushi salmon and super white tuna sashimi. It was all very fresh and very delicious. The sushi chef behind the bar thought it was unusual that I ordered the super white tuna. I told him it was my favorite. A few minutes later, he made me a little dish with some of the super white tuna I love wrapped in seaweed paper. Complimentary! He also threw in an extra salmon sushi! That was really cool! So the food was great, decor great and service was great! If I wasn't a sushi connoisseur and knew exactly what I want, i would have been up-sold and probably walked out spending a whole lot more money than I needed to. Thanks to Summer H and lots of prior sushi xperience, I was ok, but beware if you are a sushi newby!

Okay it goes like this , food is always pretty good. This was our, my husband and myself 2nd attempt. First time sushi was really good our server a bit "hazed". This time , well, probably as far as the service itself awful. From the server , to the bartender and even the managers. No team , no motivation and no support to staff. Again hibachi cook good and our sushi date good sushi. If you're going for a dining experience stop turn around and realize you very well may have to go get your own refill. On a side our first trip here we watched the gm flip out mid restaurant on his staff screaming. The only thing we recieved with a timely urgency was our check. So heads up don't expect too much. Again food was good though.

We were here 2 weeks ago.. i knew i posted already ...but if u r area ....and hungry., its worth coming over... their Sushi r so fresh and plump...sushi chef made an extra effort of giving me more ginger when maybe he saw us that we like it so much. We came here 6 in group... all orders were perfectly made. We love japanese food... this will be one of our faves from now...

So glad to report this place has rebounded. The head sushi chef is back and making some of the best rolls in DFW.

Well Dallas, my honey and I have found our sushi place! Delicious fresh tasting fish put together with amazing combinations. We tried the Spider Roll, Las Vegas, Avocado Bomb, and I think one other but I cannot recall the name. To make our experience complete we got warm sake as well. Sharing laughs and stories over delicious sushi is so much fun. And the atmosphere is great. Beautiful waterfall just outside the huge window make it romantic also. I thought the bridge and coy fish display the the entrance was super cool also. A note on parking, lots of space. There were a couple birthday parties going on in the back hibachi room. I think that area must be meant for party style celebration because they had a gong. It was loud but fun hearing the people cheer for their chef. Great experience overall. We will most definitely be back.

I normally come for the sushi alone, so I go straight for the bar. However, this time I'm going with someone else, sooo I need to sit at a big boys table. Loud, complicated to understand language, and pretty tight. The food is great, it's the atmosphere that needs work.

This is an awkward review for me, I have a love/hate relationship with this place. I love the options here & the everyday special for $6.95. I love experiencing the chefs cool hibachi in front of me, I feel as if I was at a show or something. Now for the criticism the food for the most part is tasty but, for most sushi restaurants I have high standards for fresh quality & for some reason here I don't get that satisfaction. Also most of the servers here, the ones I have experienced are either rude, slackers, or over comment on everything.

Very tasty sashimi & sushi Benton box. Good prices. Stopped in for lunch after a recommendation from a friend and thoroughly enjoyed. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere for lunch.

We went to Kaze on a Saturday night at around 8:30 PM and got seated right away. As a matter of fact, there were plenty of open tables and booths! I was surprised to see this on a Saturday night but maybe this is normal for them. We ordered: Mackerel sashimi, Salmon sashimi, Beef tataki, Edamame, Gyoza and the melt down roll. (also ordered a simple shrimp tempura sushi for the little one but I wont review on that, since it was a simple shrimp tempura with rice roll) Mackerel sashimi ($13.95): not as fresh as I have had at other sushi restaurants. Mackerel is one of my favorites at sushi restaurants but here, not so much. It didn't melt in my mouth like it normally does, and the texture was a bit chewy. JR says they blanched it in vinegar before serving, which apparently not all sushi restaurants do but he knows more than I do! Salmon sashimi ($13.95): not the best I have had either but I shouldn't complain.. our server gave us extra salmon, and two peices of tuna sashimi also. I'm not sure what we did to deserve this, but I wont question it! Beef tataki ($12.95): HUGE portion for $12.95. The fried garlic makes this dish 10000x more amazing. I wish the beef had more of a flavor (or atleast give more sauce w the plate) but for the portion, what am i REALLY complaining about? Edamame & Gyoza: $2.95 for 3 peices of gyoza and $2.95 for a small bowl of edamame. IMO, they could give a bit more of a portion especially since they *claim* that its 50% off all appetizers "all the time" and that the 50% off is already discounted on the menu price. So you're telling me, without this "discount", i would have paid $5 for 3 small peices of gyoza and $5 for a tiny bowl of edamame? That just sounds absurd and so not worth it. Melt down roll ($10.95??) : peices of diff types of sashimi rolled with rice, seaweed and caviar. it was aight. nothing to rave about, but i probably wouldn't get it again. Service was very good, I have no complaints there! She did everything in a timely manner and brought everything out in the perfect order. Refilled our waters and got a little bit more than 20% tip. With that being said, our bill was about $92, including tip, for 2 adults and 1 kid. Would I come back? Maaaaaybe... But I probably would never "crave" Kaze. They should really look at their menu prices because I've been to many other sushi restaurants that were much nicer, with cheaper everything.

Really enjoyed going here, food was good, the chef was great, only complaint would be the people that were sitting at the hibachi with us had a kid that would not mind. Other than that...great experience.

Great sushi! Never tried their hibachi so I can't review it just yet. My boyfriend and I frequent this place quite often and use it as our double-date go-to spot with our neighbors. There are so many favorites on my list. The lady Linda roll is a must-have, as well as the caterpillar roll, lobster roll, temptation roll (YUM!), and their crab tower. If you're into raw sashimi its great here too, and very fresh! We normally get 2 rolls each with a drink and leave spending no more than $50. The only thing I would rant about this restaurant is probably the decor. It needs some updating and I'm not quite sure what kind of theme they are going for. They also don't play any oriental music which I wish changed because it would add a really cool vibe. For those reasons I deducted 1 star. If you don't mind that and just want some really good sushi, this is a great place! Also, the manager that is normally there is very nice and accommodating.

All I can say is Wow! My expectations weren't that high, but believe me they surpassed my expectations by a long shot! It was my Dads birthday and he wanted hibachi but didn't want to leave his area of mesquite! I've been to some amazing hibachi restaurants in Dallas that I knew would deliver, but I had to accommodate my pops! Upon the arrival we were greeted with friendly smiles & immediately felt welcome. We sat down, were delivered Menus & drinks in a timely manner. Our waiter was extremely pleasant, with a constant smile on his face. He was certainly there to please the patrons. After soup & salad and a few sakes our chef came to prepare our delicious surf and turf dinner! He was extremely attentive, charismatic, & funny! It was a hibachi experience to write in the books without all the extra show that isn't necessary! The food was cooked perfectly! Although the service is a little slow, but that's the point! Hibachi dining is all about the experience and atmosphere along with company! They even brought my Dad a nice ice cream Sunday with a candle! (My dad hates celebrating his birthday, so to see him so happy was the greatest reward) Thank you for a wonderful evening! Will defiantly be back!

I love this place. I normally only do sushi, but my daughter wanted to sit at the hibachi today. It was great. Many places douse their stir-frys with tons of sauce. Kaze let the food speak for itself. The sushi is great. The Lady Linda roll is my fave.

This is my 4th or 5th time here and kicked myself for not writing a review earlier. I always get the Las Vegas Roll to go. Have never had an issue! The staff is very he and friendly. The location is awesome cause it's kind of hidden so it's not always crowded like Olive Garden, it has a more intimate feel to it and the decorations are lovely! I will have to have a dine in experience soon but I'm already loving the service here! Today we wait maybe 5 extra minutes for the sushi, no big deal right? Well the owner gave us complimentary soup to have for our wait! Awesome! They know how to make a loyal customer. My parents didn't like sushi until I had them try the sushi from here...We love you guys!

The food was really good. The service was too good. The waiter was all over us. The big problem was when I got my credit card charge the waiter had given himself $11.00 extra on the tip. So if your using a credit card to pay check your account closely. I probably won't go back because of this problem.

Food was fine. Service was attentive. Place was clean. Good value. After giving Iron Chefs a year to impress, it failed, leaving me longing for a gas station turkey wrap. So, we tried Kaze last night and found it to be remarkably adequate. Exceptionally average. Extraordinarily ok. We will definitely probably eat there again. Seriously.

I'm livid. So much so that in sitting in the parking lot in Kaze typing this. I've been coming here for about 3 years. I come for the sushi special thats ridiculously low cost and yummy. But I'm telling you, every time I opt to eat inside versus take out, I regret it. I walk in, get seated, and get the old Asian lady instead of the teenager server training another teenager. So, I'm think phewh, bullet dodge, the old lady will know her stuff. I don't know why I thought that.. but I did. I get my usual sushi special and she says "that's all?!" And I'm like "yea". Everyone.. it's 16 pieces and it's lunch. Does she think I'm willing to take down 32 pieces or get something extra when I don't want it?! She tries to up sale me by telling me the special rolls are too small. Bitch, I know what I want but she's still there telling me now should get individual rolls.. hmm Now does she really care about my f**cking roll size or want to up charge me and look stupid. I suspect the ladder. I refuse over and over. She leaves ONLY to talk shit about my order to the two teenagers in this empty as hell restaurant, like obviously I can here you. So uncomfortable guys. I'm really serious.

I've been here a few times when I work in the area. I opt to eat at the sushi bar. The servers are annoying - this time the waitress must have literally asked me 10 TIMES if she could get me anything or if there was anything she could do for me. Yes... Leave me alone and let me eat my meal in peace! Last time, my server stood at the end of the sushi bar and stared at me waiting to fill my glass or get me anything. Anytime I looked up, he would come over to me ask ask if I needed anything. The "regular" sushi menu prices are too high. They have a huge banner outside advertising "20% -50% discount off regular menu prices every day". However, they do offer a 2 roll special for lunch with soup and salad for $6.95. It's a California roll + your choice of about 10 others ( including soft shell crab and shrimp tempura roll.) I got that and the eel sashimi (5 decent sized pieces for a $14- yes that's the discounted price). I put the eel on the California roll. My total bill was $22. Not too bad for the portion. Sushi is average - nothing to write home about.

This place is my "quick fix" for Sushi. The wait staff & owner are ALWAYS friendly. Favorites are Mango Fandango Roll & Flaming Mango. The Kaze Tower is great, too! I sometimes stop by to get a pint of the soup to go.....it'll cure what ales ya! Always leave Kaze's happy & stuffed. The sushi chef almost always sends us over his latest creation to see if it's a "winner". Lots of inexpensive SPECIALS! By far, my "Best Pic" restaurant when you're in Mesquite!

  • Dee G.

Eh, it's okay. We went at 3pm on a Friday so it was DEAD. Most of the waitresses obviously don't speak English so we had a little trouble ordering. The cook did a great job and was very entertaining. Reasonably priced. I *might* go back, but... I want to give some other places a try first.

Local hibachi and sushi place in a location not truly favorable for finer Japanese cuisine (orbit of a suburban Texas mall) but it still manages a decent job. Looks like they took over another chain restaurant in this spot, nestled between a Chili's and a BBQ place. Decor is immersive Japanese all the way and the hosts/managers are a very enthusiastic and lively bunch. Half the restaurant is hibachi stations (not all open) with seats surrounding the cook, and the other half is tables and booths with bar seating along the back with the chefs. The thick menu does need some work as it features dozens of loosely organized options ranging from the hibachi to sushi to Korean dishes to specialty rolls (which seem to be the focus). We sat in a booth and ordered three rolls and some individual sushi, and everything came out quickly and with a beautiful presentation. This isn't the finest sushi you will ever have but everything was delicious and satisfying especially, as noted, this seems a very out-of-place establishment steps away from a highway and a Buffalo Wild Wings. All meals come with small bowls of miso and a simple salad and not real crowded on a Saturday night but, hey, they seem to be doing well. Prices were decent (especially for sushi) and we both left full and satisfied. The only complaint is the staff seems overly attentive and, while gracious and quick, I'd prefer them not to hover and just leave me to enjoy the meal in peace.

I ordered a vegetarian teriyaki and the waitress dropped it off at the table and never returned. Later another waiter came in and asked if everything was okay. After I bit into the dumpling assuming it was vegetarian I tasted something weird so I stopped eating it. When the waiter returned I asked what kind of dumpling and he said pork. I loust my appetite and I noticed a waitress sneeze and didn't cover her self and immediately handling people's plates. So gross I'm never coming back.

In all honesty me and my bf came here thinking it was gonna be good cause of the reviews and we both did not like it. My boyfriend loves sushi and he just wasn't liking it, the food was pricy as well. Not to mention we had to get something to eat after leaving this place!

Best sushi in Dallas area!!! Try the kaze tower & avocado bomb!!! We have been going to kaze since 2012. The atmosphere is nice, staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Restaurant is clean and service is speedy. Food is always delicious!

Been coming here for years. It used to be an awesome experience and the staff was super attentive. Last 2 times have been awful. Here today for my sons birthday since 2 pm. It's 4:53pm and can't get anyone's attention to bring our bill. Super disappointed and doubt we will return. Shame this place has gone down the way it did.

A little over a year ago I wrote a one-star review of Kaze. It was based primarily on a seriously incompetent waitress at our then-most-recent visit, plus additional front-of-house problems we had experienced on previous visits. As I said in that review, if it were based only on the food, I'd give Kaze 3 or 4 stars. But, the service was truly awful, hence one-star. Last week (August 2014) we visited Kaze for the first time in over a year. The Nigiri, Maki and Sashimi were very good, and based on the service we received (plus a watchful eye we kept on two other servers besides ours), it appears the front-of-house issues have largely disappeared. So here we are again, with an updated review, and it is up from one to three stars. Why not four? Because of the miso soup and house salad. At Kaze, both soup and salad are complimentary, and you get what you pay for. The problem is that the miso broth is weak at best, contains almost zero tofu cubes or seaweed, and the portion is equal to exactly half that served by every other Japanese restaurant we have ever visited. Even worse, the complimentary house salad is approximately nine square inches of iceberg lettuce, with about a teaspoon of watery ginger dressing hiding in the bottom of the bowl. We can take or leave the salad (and will leave it next time), but miso soup is a wonderful appetizer. We would happily pay green American money for much more dashi in the broth, plus substantial tofu and nori in the recipe. Meanwhile, it will probably be another year before we visit again, because it appears the same woman from last year is running the front of the house, and I think she recognized us. Yeow!

Never coming here again, everything had fake crab meat in it, our waitress got our order wrong and then charged us for the incorrect order ! The menus were filthy & sticky. It's worth it to drive farther north for good sushi. This was our first & last visit.

Miso soup automatically brought out was ununinspired. The dressing on the small bowl of lettice was gingerly and sweet. The avacado bomb was brought out promptl, hot and delicious. Ordered the Dol Sot and it came out quick and hot. The waitress made sure it was mixed properly.... sweet, spicy, fresh delicious.

Great place to go when you want to satisfy a quick sushi craving. I like this place because it's not over the top or sushi snobbish and quite inexpensive compared to other places in Dallas. Very basic rolls, fresh, flavorful, and attentive staff. The avocado bomb and spicy eel roll are great!

This is my absolute favorite restaurant of all time. Sushi is my addiction, and I've been to many places, but nothing beats this place. The owners are the sweetest people you've ever met, the servers are fantastic, and the food is amazing. The specialty menu at Kaze is to die for!! I could live off of nothing but their Tuna Tataki for the rest of my life!!

  • Ken H.

Nice people although our waitress tended to check on us a lot and linger just slightly too long after receiving the all clear signal. The Cali and veggie rolls were below average, with barely any rice around the edges. The pieces were not cut to uniform bite sizes. The yakisoba with chicken was lacking in chicken and the noodles were overcooked and drowning in the sauce. The salad was tiny and had nearly no dressing. The miso soup seemed too milky. As we waited for our food, we noticed the place was very dirty as well. Not a lot of upkeep going on here. To top it off, the music choice of 80s rock seemed out of place. We love us a little Van Halen but did seem like an odd choice for a Japanese restaurant. Surprised and disappointed as we had read good reviews on here.

It's Sunday, not crowded. The service was fast and the waiter knowledgeable and professional; The food was awful. I started and finished with the shrimp and vegetable tempura appetizer. It was Sri oily, greasy and tasted bad. I went a couple of months ago on a weekend and the good was incredible. Don't think I'll be going again!

We ate here a couple of months ago, but have ended up going down the street to the cheaper hibachi place. The show here is very good. The food is decent, but the prices are not that great. We ended up spending almost $100 on a family of three during lunch(two adults and one child). Will we be back? I honestly can't say!

If you are looking for super authentic and upscale you can skip this place. It has a laid back atmosphere, great tasting hibachi dishes and reasonable prices. It's family friendly :)

This place seems destined to end up on Kitchen Nightmares with its extremely long over complicated menu, poor service and poorly prepared food. Waitress was horrible, got our appetizer order wrong and then gets everyone's, and I mean that literally, everyone's dinner order wrong. Then to top it off starts arguing with us saying we ordered the wrong thing despite the fact that we pointed at what we ordered. It gets worse though; the tuna sashimi and sushi had the strangest smell to it that I could not place but it deffinitely was not a smell you want on sushi. The Tuna also had that oily sheen it gets when it starts to lose proper temperature. Send the tuna part back, the manager says, oh its fresh it is just where the sushi person cuts it. Not the best excuse, its either the fish is not fresh or your sushi person is incompetent, neither are anything you want around raw food. Anyways, they bring new tuna and it still smells. The rest of the food was merely ok and in no way redeemed all the above mess ups. One positive note, the Hibachi chef was actually really good and the show, while a Benihana knockoff, was quite good. Didn't try the food, but the people who got it seemed to like it. If I did go back I would stick to the Hibachi.

I've been in the mood for sushi for a while and searched online for restaurants. I saw this place in my search and it is right up the street from me! That's the first good part, the second good part was they do carryout! I ordered the Kaze Fire rolls, Blazing 635 rolls (awesome name and describes that crazy highway lol) and the Panic rolls and heck yeah!! Spicy and a great portion! They also hook up the wasabi and had extra chop sticks and soy sauce for me. The staff were so friendly and gave off a good vibe. I am definitely coming back and taking my friends! Thank you! lol

Kaze is not as nice and fancy as say Kobe Steaks and Benihana's in Addison, but it still gets 5/5 stars from me for the 1) great prices for what you get -- compare it to other hibachi restaurants 2) friendly staff; you'll be greeted every time by the staff as you arrive and leave; the owner is a bit hard to understand, but he is friendly and tries to be helpful 3) great, consistent food 4) laid back, fun atmosphere I've loved going to hibachi steakhouses from the first time I went to one and although my favorite experiences have been at Otani's in Spotsylvania, VA -- I am too far away from there so Kaze is my current favorite place for hibachi and affordable sushi. I was cautious about first trying the hibachi here because of the low prices, but it has always been consistently good and for the quality, the price is great. The fried rice and vegetables are as delicious as any hibachi, especially with the sauces that accompany your meal (be sure to ask for more sauce and the chef at your table will happily oblige). What I get now is the hibachi filet mignon steak and shrimp combo. The shrimp is tender, and delicious -- I don't know what sauces they put with the shrimp but it is amazing. And the steak, cooked medium, is as tender as it should be and flavorful the way the chef prepares it. Anything you order whether it be the hibachi or sushi/dinner tables will come with salad and miso soup. The miso soup is your standard fare (nothing wrong with that, though) but I love the salad consisting of iceberg lettuce for the dressing they put. I really need to ask if they can give me some of that dressing to take home! The sushi and rolls are also just as great. I'm a bit new to sushi, so I may not have standards like someone who pays top dollar in some chic sushi bar, but I've had bad and mediocre sushi before and Kaze does a fine job. The group of us who come here often all have tried the salmon, yellow tail, tuna, and red snapper and they are fresh and delicious. They even have flounder, which I don't see very often. For the rolls, I love getting the Spider Roll, Dragonfly Roll, but I've gotten the california and shrimp tempura rolls before and they were good. in fact you can get 2 rolls (16 pieces) of califnornia [rolls] for something like $6-8 -- maybe less. I don't give out 5/5 stars too easily, but I find Kaze deserving for the value and consistency.

These guys do a good job and in relation to the price it's perfect. So you CAN pay more but if your taking the family out and don't want to pay 30% more go here. If your looking for somewhere special for just you and the wife on a date...this would not be MY choice but it's very nice. The food is good, wait staff is good, owners are very nice and they are really good with the kids!! Thank you guys!! Iron Chef's managers have a stick up their ass.

Great place to eat! The food is great, and the service the first time was great, the second time the Girl was very rude and acted like she was put out to help me and the 3 other people I was with! Oh well, the food was great and I will def, not request her as a server again! lol The price overall is a steal for GREAT food The place may need a little makeover on the outside and maybe a tad on the inside and please promote this place more!! I know it would get many many more returning customers!

Kaze is a great place next to Town East Mall. It sits hidden around other popular restaurants in the area, but don't ignore this little restaurant. When you walk in, the smell of hibachi is intoxicating. You'll be more hungry once you take a whiff of it. A waiter will take you to your seat. The place has a great Asian oriented inspired feel but its not cheesy or cheap looking. Your view as you walk in goes straight to the sushi bar. We were seated right away and treated with great service. Our waiter and even the owners came up to us continually asking if we needed a drink refill. The FOOD: You get complimentary salad and korean soup. Its a good mix of warm and cold but I personally don't care too much for it. GYOZA - only 3 potstickers but crispy and yummy DOL SOT BIBIMBOP - this is great because this issa great Korean dish but they replaced all the great vegetables that go in it. Usually you have bean sprouts, seaweed, and pickled radish - but they replaced it with broccoli and more "americanized" vegetables. I see the strategy in doing so but I'm not a big fan. The taste is still great though. Overall - our food was about $30 for two people without tip. When you leave, everyone says "Arigato" and thank you which is super friendly. I appreciate great service - i think people forget that when rating...

This used to be our go-to sushi place until last night. My bento box came out a full half-hour before my partners two sushi rolls. We got an apology but no expedited services, no offer of a reduced or free anything. We talked to the server, to the floor manager and were treated rudely. The explanation was that a big sushi bar order was in front of us. Ok, then bring them out together. I don't mind waiting and I understand big orders but don't serve me and force my partner to wait. If a restaurant can't get something as simple as timing down, I am disappointed.

Loved this place. We get picky about our sushi, and after trying many places in Dallas we would pick this place every time. Had three great sushi rolls, steamed gyota, and a chicken teriyaki dinner box. Every bite we had was delicious. Great service too. Can't wait to go back!

The very first thing I have to say about Kaze, is that all of the servers seem to be scared out of their minds at about the owner, and I know they are all just miserable. It's really an unpleasant feeling. I've been to Kaze often enough, and in fact it was one of the first places I tried sushi. The thing about their sushi is, it's good, honestly, I enjoy it. The prices are very reasonable too. The flavor combinations are there. Something is just... off. Maybe it's the freshness? Who knows, it's just lacking something. The hibachi, to be honest, is something I haven't had from there in years, so I can't really help you there. The best menu item, and the thing that keeps me coming back over and over despite the awkward ambiance, is THE SALAD. Holy crap, that dressing is totally badass. If I could get the recipe, I swear... I'd die happy. If you're going to go, make sure you get your salad... yummmmmmmm! Now, Kaze is literally 2 doors down from Iron Chefs. I gave Kaze 1 more star because they actually have something that makes me want to come back. So obviously, if you are in Mesquite, and you want to choose between the 2, I'd say go to Kaze... and get that freaking salad!

In a suburb like Mesquite, it's very surprising to find something unique in way of food and shops, so it's wonderful to have found a Japanese/Korean restaurant like [kami]Kaze. Staff: Walking in, I wasn't expecting to be greeted by a chorus of "arigato!" and to be seated by the manager. Almost instantly my wonderful waitress came up and helped me through the menu and set me up. I noticed that about all the waiters. They were all very helpful and engaging with everyone. Even the cook at the bar spoke to patrons. I felt very welcomed, which helped, because I was nervous and alone and engaging people throw me off a bit. The staff is amazing, really, it's night and day from my previous experience at a Japanese restaurant. My waitress answered all my dumb questions (seriously, I was curious about everything *lol* it was so good!) and I felt like a princess. I'm not sure what the other reviewers saw in the manager, but I found him to be nice and very old school. It's hard to explain, but old school pretty much sums up the whole staff. Food: As amazing as the staff is - the FOOD is FANTASTIC. I don't eat sushi and I can't eat shellfish, so I had a delicious veggie tempura for an appetizer and before i could even get halfway through my second piece, my bento soup and salad arrived (they serve their food VERY quickly) and then my bento itself a third piece in. They blew my mind with how fast everything came out and how amazing it all looked. So good I had no idea where to start or if i should set something down and try something else before it got cold. Eventually I got to the salad (with Ginger Sauce - great goodness, why haven't I had this before?!) and miso soup. I plowed through them and finally got to my grilled/spicy chicken combo bento with white rice, a dollop of mashed potatoes and a gyoza dumpling. The grilled chicken was covered in something that actually made me stop and savor every bite. I had been excited about the spicy chicken, and that was so delicious, but I was bummed when the grilled chicken was gone. The white rice was fresh and delicious and the potatoes were made perfectly. The gyoza dumpling, which I've had at Chinese buffets before and hated, was like no other dumpling I had had before. No really, it was a very woah moment with dipping it in the sauce (There's sauce? It's suppose to have sauce?) and just biting into it. Crisp and juicy - I'm going to have to have a plate of them next time. Even the little bottle of yogurt was good! What is this madness? The fried ice cream... do I really need to say any more? Aesthetics: I remember when the building had been an Ihop or JimmyDean's or something breakfast/steak-like. Heck, I remember when Kaze was a swank place on the Towne Crossing's restaurant row I could barely afford about 10ish years ago. This Kaze has taken both areas and made it work. It's dark and relaxing with Asian decor, dark wood, and calm lighting all around. There's lots of room, but it doesn't feel like it's waiting to have a hundred people stuffed into it like the Asian buffets in town. Everything seems to center around the bar, despite there being half walls to section off places. This usually would annoy me, because the bar is normally loud and obnoxious. Luckily, that isn't the case. It's actually welcoming and because the bar's welcoming, the whole place is as such. You get used to hearing "arigato!" and the hibachi noises and it just feels like the sort of place you want to come back to and become a regular. I know I do. If you're from here and you're looking for something different just a ways from your front door, go to Kaze. Go and have an ice cold Ramune and stuff yourself with a grilled/spicy chicken combo bento. You won't be sorry.

I have to give this place five stars for the price range. I've been here a few times and everything has been fantastic. In fact, I would say exceptional. I've yet to receive any even mildly unfresh fish. My other go-to sushi place is Mr Sushi in Addison (which I love), but I'd say Kaze is even better. The first time I went, we were seated at the sushi bar and they gave us a free sample including some seared tuna and these things--I forgot what they were called--that were like California rolls wrapped in cucumber instead of rice. So, so awesome. I got that the next time I went. Also love the spicy California rolls, and there was a spicy tuna salad that was excellent as well. If you go to the hibachi section, they do little performances with the food (steak, shrimp, rice, vegetables) as they cook it. Some of the chefs are better entertainers than others, but it's great regardless. I posted a picture of one creating a volcano from onions. We brought the kids and they love this. One warning: this place is loud. They are constantly yelling to greet everyone who comes in and the hibachi performance involves profuse spatula clanking. This is not the place to go for a quiet meal.

I think the owners need to do more to promote this place. The food was great and plentiful. You know its fresh because they make it right there before your eyes. I had the shrimp, fried rice, salad and miso soup. The servers were polite and took real good care of us. They have a good selection of Asian beer and the prices are very reasonable. The only negative part for me at least is that is located in Mesquite...blaaaah

I've been going to 'kaze for YEARS. So long now that my son, who was a teeny fellow is now 15 and towering over the owner who thinks it's funny. Kaze never disappoints. The sushi is the freshest, tastiest sushi I have had anywhere in Texas - and I have tried it everywhere it seems. They are always super accommodating, whether it is just the hubby and I or a large party. They make everyone who comes there feel like family. I know it's strange to think of good sushi and Mesquite, but trust me, this place beats the rest, hands down!

What can I say about kaze?? I tried eating here a couple years ago and was highly disappointed. After reading good reviews, and being in the mood for sushi, a friend and i decided to try it out. After being sat, two different people were asking us for drink orders, and constantly asking if we were ready when we were still obviously looking the menu over. We made or decisions, and ordered. The salad and soup came out, both were actually really good, but again both servers were constantly at our table.(there is a difference between being efficient, and being annoying) finally our rolls came out, our server was confused as to which roll was which, but not to fear the other server was of course right there to help.(annoying) all three of the rolls I ordered were completely covered in a mix of sesame seeds, to the point that they were nearly unedible. I tried to power through, but the more I ate the more I couldn't stand it. So I decided to focus on the fried roll I had ordered... at most sushi restaurants fried means light tempura, here it apparently means stale onion ring batter. It was terrible. I finally gave up trying to eat. I asked for my check and was asked if I wanted a box, when I replied no, and explained that there were to many sesame seeds on the rolls. I was told that I should have informed my server that I didn't want that many, that every one else loves their sushi like that(I've never seen that done any where but here, and I've eaten at quite a few sushi places), at this point I'm getting angry, so the other server asks if I want to take the fried roll that is still on my plate, and which point I just laugh, and say no, that is was terrible and I would not eat it. Instead of apologizing or trying to see if there was anything they could do to help my terrible experience, they bring my check, and for do not return, the same people who have not left my table alone for longer than two seconds are now gone. Needless to say I will never return to kaze, and those who write these raving reviews about this place must not have ever had decent sushi, or service for that matter.

This is my favorite Sushi restaurant to eat at in the DFW area. The have good and fresh sushi for a reasonable price. The sake is also always great here too. Make sure you get the Avocado Bomb, best thing you will ever eat!!!!!! I always get the Sashimi combo and always seem to get extra sushi as well as samples the sushi chef will make. I have never had bad service here too!

Easily 5 stars. I am always treated kindly and with respect - very good customer service. I am a vegetarian and they always make excellent agedashi tofu, edamame, vegetarian rolls and veggie udon, to name a few. I am in vegetarian heaven with this Japanese cuisine. This is a consistently good restaurant. I'll be back soon! :)

All I can say is that I shouldn't have cheaped out and come here to expect good sushi. I just didn't want to deal with all the attitude of a tei tei or teppo or whatever. Their tuna was the frozen processed glowing red type and their tamago was frozen. Their hamachi was low grade. They used frozen tilapia for sea bass. Maybe Dallas is fresh seafood-challenged, but with all the coin and chest-thumping attitude bouncing around this town, you would figure that shouldn't be the case. All in all, maybe you would be better off just sticking with their teppanyaki which is OK and avoid the sushi, unless you are not as picky with your sushi. They were very nice, though. We ordered so much that they gave us free hot sake. It was a grand gesture. So, I think Kaze will appeal to the right clientele.

Came here with a buddy of mine and he told me that this is the best sushi place in Dallas. This I had to see and by god he was not bs'in me. The wasabi crusted roll was absolute the bomb!! Sashimi salad was off the hook as well. Got to check it out. I have yet to find a favorite sushi place, thankfully I found one, unfortunately its not in Memphis.

It's a nice place with nice food. I always order their kaze tower (by far the best Ahi tower). It's like their signature appitizer that everybody must try. You get chunks of tuna like no others. I have also tried many different kinds of rolls, and they are great. The reason that I can't give this place 5 stars is because of their hibachi. I ordered sukiyaki beef, and the meat was tough, dry and tasteless.

Kamikaze's is a cheap place to find sushi and hibachi and definitely worth a try. Their appetizers are always on sale for $3 and they have a sushi deal where you can get 16 pieces for $7. Not a bad deal. The sushi is really good and the guys behind the counter will almost always give you some extra sushi to try for free. My boyfriend and I went here once on a Sunday night and had a wonderful time. We tried almost four different types of sushi for free, took advantage or the appetizer and 16 piece sushi deal and left there full, satisfied and with full wallets. The people there will always make you well welcome and the prices are hard to argue with, making Kamikaze's a great local sushi spot.

I have to say the first time I went there it was ok and I hadn't been back in months. Last week I was in the area crazing sushi and found out they had a sushi special. For 6.95, you got two rolls so I ordered that to-go. I noticed that the california roll was missing cucumber, I figured a simple mistake everything else was fine. Then I went again last night thinking I would get some sushi to take to my paralyzed father as a treat. When I opened my to-go box I noticed that the same mistake happened again as well as my shrimp tempura was missing the avocado. I thought well maybe someone making the sushi was in a hurry or was new. I tried it and it really needs to avocado to make it complete, without it was not what I was wanting. The sushi is decent, I have had better and worse plus it is smaller. But for the price I wasn't complaining too much at first. I decided to call and let them know that this has happened twice. Of course when I called last night there is no manager there, so I was told to give my information and I would get a call back in a few minutes. I still have not received a call back and even tried calling a few minutes ago. Big surprise no manager is there. The lady on the phone even proceeded to yell in another lanaguage to ask someone else a question while I was on the phone. In person they are very nice but if you call in or have a complaint be prepared for something else. If you want ok sushi that may or may not be what is listed on the menu and website go here but if you want sushi that is really good and what you expect, I would pass.

I have been going to Kamikaze since the first day it opened next to Hooters. The move across the street to the old Owens was a good move. It is much more comfortable and more shushi like. The only thing I require of my shishi restaurants is consistancy. Believe me Kamikaze is consistant. There are not to many frills, but the basic shishi is great! It also pays to be a regular because they will sure take care of you. The role special is the best deal in town. Be sure and order alot of the simple shashimi on the appitiser menu #13, it is much cheeper that way. The only draw back is that Mr. Lee must be hard to work for because they go through alot of head sushi chiefs. However Tony is the main man now and that's a good thing. Great portions, ALWAYS FRESH, never a wait, and most important easy on your wallet. That's 5 stars to me!

I was looking for somewhere to go for a late lunch this past Saturday while I was in the Mesquite area and read some pretty positive yelp reviews on Kamikaze. Cheap sushi?! who would turn that down! I totally wish I did. I dragged the BF there and we were greeted in Japanese by the whole restaurant staff loudly. Our waiter was awesome so this is no way negative towards you Andy! He seated us and gave us the perfect amount of time to look over the pile of menus we were given: the sushi menu, the special sushi menu and the regular menu. We ordered two appetizers, the seasoned tofu salad and the fried soft shell crab (each only $3!). My beer was also super affordable, I love Asian beers and had a Kirin light for only $3.75 (my favorite sushi place charges me $6 a bottle). The tofu salad seemed like it was seasoned in a light soy sauce and sesame seeds so I was a little disappointed and the soft shell crab tasted...unclean. For our entree I just ordered the two roll special : a California roll and salmon roll for just $6.95 and Richard ordered the breaded pork chops (one of his faves). My sushi came out faster then his dish which I thought was odd. The sushi was just OK and definitely not fresh but considering the price I didn't complain. The pork chops came out with a side house salad, potato salad, one gyoza dumpling, an orange slice and a mini Asian soda type drink. The salad was too sweet but everything else was delish! We noticed that every time someone comes in everyone stops what they are doing and says hello. This was funny at first but then it really started interrupting the meal. They did play Japanese/Korean pop music while I was there...nice! Our tab came out to about $35 which is really good for two people but my tummy and taste buds were not too satisfied.

Haven't found any 'good' Sushi since I moved here from California 3-years ago checked out Yelp & found Kaze so my friend & I went there tonight. We each ordered a margarita rocks w/ salted rim. They arrived w/ no salt & what seemed like no Tequila so we sent them back & asked them to make us new ones. Received same ones back w/ a huge amount of salt & still NO more Tequila. I asked the waitress to please tell the bartender we expected the drinks to be remade & not to send us back the original ones. Finally, I got up & talked to the bartender, Netten, & told him we expected 'new' drinks & not to keep sending the same ones back as they were no good. He looked at me & said he would have to charge me for 'new' drinks. I told him that was unacceptable & asked for the manager. The waitress apologized & telephoned the owner who instructed the bartender to make us 'new' drinks. He hung up the phone & Netten said, 'fine, but I'm not gonna make them' and walked away. We finally did get new drinks which still were not good. Upon looking at our bill we saw we were billed for rumritas!!! Do they not know the difference between a rumrita & a margarita??? Some of the food was okay & some substandard. Thought I might go back for the Rainbow Roll but after the way we were treated I won't.

Surprisingly good Japanese food in the middle of Mesquite, TX. In the mood for some ramen or something warm and soupy, I ate at kamikaze on one dreary and rainy afternoon. Located along a row of chain restaurants that looked like a mall food court (red lobster, chillis, olive garden, etc.,), I was immediately afraid to go in because first - it looked overpriced, "chainy" and non-authentic from the outside. I decided to try it anyway since I couldn't find any other Japanese restaurants in the area(well Google Maps couldn't). Well what do you know, the owners are actually Japanese and the food wasn't bad. The udon broth was flavorful and the sushi was comparable to a lot of good sushi restaurants I've tried in SF. The ambiance is a little much but go there in the afternoon and you'll have the whole place to yourself.
