Really wide variety of choices when it comes to sushi. Delicious and fresh and the egg rolls were awesome. I will be back.

Stopped in with the hubby for a late afternoon treat. Wish we'd tried it sooner! Ordered two items to share plus some Sapporo. Fuji Volcano Roll was terrific! Red Dragon Roll...tough to decide which was better! Glad we only ordered the two items because they were generous portions. Now that we know there is a nice, stylish sushi option within a five minute drive of home, we have a new date night option. Good service, nice atmosphere, great food.

I want to like this place more. I have lived in the area for a really long time. I have always understood that meant great sushi is not to be had north of 610. The sushi is pretty good here. They have many types of rolls here. They also have mackerel. My discomfort is that they offer no happy hour specials and their prices are very high. I love the full bar, I love the atmosphere, but if I want a couple of rolls of sushi and a beer it runs close to 30 dollars with a tip. I think that is a little pricy when I have to order a la carte.

This is my favorite sushi restaurant in Houston. The menu is massive and they have just about anything you could think of. They have a full bar and a great wine list. Wine comes out nice and cold and filled to the brim. Kind hardworking owners as well. A+

Interesting rolls. Good miso. I was disappointed by the tea bag, rather than loose leaf tea, for the hot tea. Nice atmosphere.

First time here and was very disappointed. The shrimp tempura was dreadful, it was all tempura and the thinnest thread of shrimp imaginable! The won ton soup was under seasoned and the won tons were pasty. The California roll was tiny however passable. The rice was overcooked. Just one disappointment after another! Will stick with other Kingwood offerings in the future.

What a breath of fresh air for Kingwood. We love the uptown feel here in the forest. So far we have been going for lunch and have yet to have a bad experience. The food and service has always been enjoyable and the prices are within reason. Kingwood has a good amount of choices when it comes to elevator music while dining and this is not one of them. It is refreshing to have a contemporary place to go minutes from home saving us a trip downtown. We love the music and atmosphere. Welcome to Kingwood Akashi!

I decided to try out this new place and really wanted to like it. The interior design of the place is very nice, modern and clean. I ordered lunch special- 2 sushi rolls + soup and salad for $8.95. Not a bad deal at all. However, salad was boring ( it rarely is exciting at the sushi place, I admit), soup was bland- that's ok with me too. But the rolls- honestly, I can make my own so much better. I ordered spicy tune and philadelphia rolls- they were falling apart. Now I can see what other reviewers meant. They were not very carefully made. Too much cream cheese in philadelphia roll. And what's with sweet honey sauce on the plate with the sushi? I think they need to try harder since they are just starting the business, if they want to build clientele. I really liked the place itself, but not the food, I'm sorry.

Whoa! I haven't had Sushi this good in a long time. Thank goodness I went with a large party because I got to try a plethora of different items. I love how fresh the food was.

What a bad experience! From club dance music blaring at dinner to sushi rolls that fell apart if you even tried to pick them up. I ordered one of the chef's special rolls that said it came with " homemade" eel sauce and one other sauce. No where did it state that it was swimming in it! The roll came in a bowl swimming in the 2 sauces which when you looked at it, it looked like it was in a bowl of vomit! Also trying so hard hard to be THE " trendy" place to be in Kingwood ( which in and of it self is an oxymoron) which means the painting of plates with sauces. The only problem with this is the sauces are to compliment the food and enhance it which at Akashi the sauces do not! Strawberry coulis and kiwi coulis Do NOT enhance the flavors of sushi! The other rolls we ordered fell apart as soon as you tried to pick them up. The general's chicken was swimming in some kind of sweet sauce with no spice at all! We won't be going back unless some serious changes are made.

I really like this place. I eat sushi at least once a week and I was impressed with the taste and sushi prices. The only thing I was confused about was the strawberry and kiwi sauces on the sides of the plates but I assume they are just for decoration. The atmsphere is great and the decor is modern although it is a little dark inside and there is limited seats available . I would say it is one of the nicest looking resturants in kingwood. I would recommend the red dragon roll it is delicious- the menu says it is spicy but I didn't think it was. I have been telling all of my friends about this place and would recommend going to anyone. I cannot comment on the other food but the sushi I did have was really good.

My new friendly neighborhood sushi place! It's kind of in an odd location, but it is very nice and modern inside. The sushi is really very good and they have a huge menu! Also, they have Asahi Black in bottles which I have never seen before, it's now my favorite Asian beer. It's worth noting that they have a bike rack right out front and the Green Belt Trails run right along side this shopping center.

Picked up dinner to go. Hot & sour soup was good, egg rolls were ok. The main issue was that neither the Mongolian Beef nor the Kung Pao Chicken were spicy. Nice flavor, but no spice. Strange.

My husband and I ate here on Sunday and really enjoyed it. The food was great and prices were descent. We've eaten at pretty much every sushi place in Humble / Kingwood and this one rates pretty high for us. The only thing that could have made it better was a little better service. The place was pretty much packed and I don't think there were enough people working. My husband had to flag down the waiter to get a refill and I was never asked if I needed one. Other than that we were very pleased and will definitely be back.

Thought the food was very flavorful and fresh. It does get crowded on the weekends but totally worth giving the place a break through the opening growing pains. Great addition to Kingwood!!

I really like this place! It has a variety of delicious appetizers. It is somewhat kid friendly. I recommend this place for sushi. It is also nice to take your love one for dinner. The atmosphere is chilled and relaxing. The staff is very attentive and nice. My favorites from here are: miso soup, edamame, and shrimp/asparagus roll.

Place was ok, lighting was very low for my taste but it was dinner time so they were going for the "mood" I guess. Food was pretty good but our orders were brought out at different times so I devoured mine while the wife was waiting for hers....Course I was done by the time she got here.... Also wifey ran out f water and never got a refill big pet peeve with us specially when your not that busy and we were sitting at the bar..... Most likely will not be back, not because it was not good food but when I can get better service and at half the price then I know where I'm going.

I went here last night with a couple of family members on recommendation from my cousins boyfriend. I was not impressed. I thought about rating it 3 stars but the more that I thought about it, I decided 2 was more fitting. The food here was mediocre at best. The menu is huge and I think that can be a bad thing for some restaurants. I only sampled from the sushi/rolls menu. My godchild ordered the potstickers which actually had about 6-7 per order but she didn't like the sauce that it came with. One the table we had 7 different rolls between all of us with only about 2 being any good. The restaurant itself was pleasant enough. It was aesthetically pleasing and the wait staff was adequate.

Great little sushi experience tucked away in a shopping center. HUGE menu, beautiful presentation of dishes, SOO many Chef specialty items to choice from. Highly recommend the Katsudon (being topped with a runny egg was a nice touch: ) the spicy man roll and black pepper tuna tataki. Their miso soup was one of the better that I have had. I do wish they offered their house sake in more than their "1 size drinks all" bottle, would make it easier to share. Overall, great sushi experience, can't wait to go back!

This is my favorite Asian food in Kingwood. I've had several varieties of sushi here and they are all very good. The Bento boxes are delicious as well. The meat is usually cooked very well rather it's fried or seared it is never over cooked. The Chinese food is good as well. Everything has a very good flavor too it. Nothing is too salty or bland. The prices are also not bad and the staff is friendly and efficient. It's good for take out and a nice place to sit and enjoy lunch/dinner.

I can here to have dinner with my dad and neither of us were happy with our experience. The sashimi I ate at this restaurant was merely okay, but the server didn't really seem happy to be at work that day and his clothes were worn looking and in need of a good cleaning.

Thank you Yelp for helping me find a decent sushi place in Kingwood. Located at the corner of the plaza behind the gas station, Akashi provides a modern American hangout place with tables, booths, and a bar. Service can use a little more work, I felt rushed to order and with it being my first time there, I wanted to check out the menu and when I asked questions, she wasn't helpful at all. Besides the service, the food was A-OK! We started off with agedashi tofu as our appetizer and the tofu was nicely cooked. I ordered the volcano roll and the sumo roll. I was looking forward for the popular volcano roll, maybe I was more excited to see the flame, but the sushi was just okay. I enjoyed the happy sumo roll more so I would recommend that. The mochi ice cream was frozen, really hard to eat, kind of disappointing.

This is my third time here, and this time was not as great. I will always recommend the shrimp tempura udon, hands down!! It is light enough, and the shrimp tempura has always been perfectly fried and goes great with the tempura sauce. Sadly, I was a tad disappointed with the crispy half duck. It was drenched in hoison sauce. It would've been much better if the sauce was on the side. Personally, I'd prefer some eel sauce in the side :) The Las Vegas roll is all fried so that's really all you taste :/ The major disappointment was the Mochi ice cream. You normally get soft dough skin, but this was over frozen and it was hard! BOO! Luckily, our waiter, Chase, took it off our tab and gave us the chimicheesecake instead. It was better, but not fabulous. The pan fried dumpling were perfect! It was awesome!!! Great crisp and good balance in sauce Last review: 4 Today: 3.5

I had hibachi. Place was clean. No obnoxious music or anything. Hubby had sushi. I ran out of water, which annoys me and our food came out 5 minutes apart, so one of us was done and the other got to sit and watch the other eat. The presentation of the food was really nice though.

Met my dad for lunch here and it was just meh. For one, the building was kept incredibly cold so we asked about them possibly turning the heat on. This may have also been the reason the starter miso soup was barely warm. The salad that came with it was your average bits of vegetable drenched in a ginger dressing. Edamame was ok. Sashimi lunch special was ruined with all the sauce they dump on it. Could not taste the fish. The 2-roll lunch special my dad had was tasty, but very small portions. Waiter was nice and the building is quite attractive inside. I probably wouldn't order the sashimi here again though or bother with the soup & salad.

Ever since this place opened, I stop in at least once a month. The location is great if you live in Kingwood, and I love the atmosphere. It's always nice and cool inside, there's rarely trouble getting seated, and the servers are attentive to your needs. If I'm in a hurry, they'll bring me my food and bill quickly to help me on my way. But if I'm in for a more leisurely meal and just taking my time, they don't rush me out the door. They'll refill my tea as many times as I like and make sure that I'm comfortable. That kind of service goes a long way. My favorite on the menu is the Shaggy Dog roll. The sauces are good and spicy, and the sushi is always fresh.

Good place for good Chinese and Japanese food. I used to be a server and though the service was good, it did not make me feel special while I was on my date... By no means was it bad, but the server didn't talk to us at all. If you like that then thumbs up. Again I also understand this was only one waiter. Food came quick and timely. Everything was hot and tasted wonderful. Egg Rolls are better than most places I have gone; sushi rolls are 4/5 stars as well. They ran out off Mochi Ice Cream (an amazing dessert), that dampened the evening a bit, but I will be back! Tip: Plan your meal before you go in to dine, the menu has a lot of items. Grab a "To-Go" menu and plan your next visit, especially if you are going on a date, so you can suggest what to get.

If you are just looking to get sushi rolls you may like this place. But if you are wanting sashimi or nigiri (fish slices and fish slices on rice) go somewhere else!! The fish here is definitely not very fresh. Also there entries are also not very good, fried rice was extremely bland and dry, and so was the fried pork I got too. The only things I really liked here was their soft shell crab and miss soup (though it's hard to mess up soup). Service was also pretty slow.

I do want to really, really like Akashi, but there are a few things holding me back. The place tries too hard to be hip, when the decor and family patrons kill that pretty quick. I really don't need your blaring dance tunes at lunch. I'm trying to have a conversation with my lunch buddies. If you want to play that kind of music at a high volume, start a club. (Warning, this is a pet peeve.) The sauces! Everything is covered, it seems. Edamame is not, thankfully but other items that have sauce not on the side are fairly slathered. Also, the chef is a little over fond of the sugar bowl. I know that in Asian cuisine, you build on hot, sour, salty, and sweet but this place tends to have an overbalance on every dish. The sushi is especially sauced. Odd dishes. There are just some things that are off. Most notable is the vegetable tempura. I have never in my life received tempura canned straw mushrooms or canned baby corn cobs. Not that they were hideous, but tempura canned veg is meh. Also, the other veg point to them using the other ingredients from the cooking line in order to make up the tempura. Carrots cut for cooking, check. Pea pods, check. Rough diced onion and pepper, check. Small broccoli florets, check. The service here is pretty good and for a lunch stop it is especially not bad. I would recommend this place to others, with the above disclaimers.

This place is a great mix of sushi and Asian food! I am not a big sushi eater my my husband is so it is nice to have a restaurant we can go to where we can both find something we enjoy! They have a wide variety of Chinese and Japanese meals as well as sushi! This is one of our favorite spots in Kingwood

This modern restaurant feels a little out of place, being all the way out in Kingwood in a little strip center. I feel like it would do better in Market Square in the Woodlands or closer to the city where there would be more young singles that would take full advantage of the spacious bar that they have (it was a Saturday night and the place was decently full, but no one was at the bar). That being said, their menu is a combination of Chinese and Japanese dishes, which is helpful if you know you're hankering for some Asian food but can't decide which one you want. I used to live in the burbs so trust me, trying to choose between Chinese or Japanese food can make people's heads explode. Life was so hard. The food was pretty good and was presented quite well, though nothing particularly stood out. We sampled several rolls of sushi and sashimi, as well as a couple of dishes from their Chinese menu (Mongolian Beef and some other that I can't remember). I was tempted to order a bento box but apparently it was a lot of food (and $16 to boot) so I opted for a seafood tempura plate instead. As is usually the case with these types of restaurant, dinner is more expensive so come in for lunch instead if you're on a budget. This place would definitely be a good choice for a date or for a gathering of young singles, with its dim lighting and modern decor. Someone go sit at the bar, at least, and keep the bartenders company. They look lonely!

I just moved to the area from Dallas so I was comparing my favorite places. I was surprised by the amount of rolls on the menu. There is certainly something for everyone! I can't remember what all we got because it was so busy and we were celebrating July 4th. But I remember being very happy with the 5 different rolls and edamame we got. We sat at the bar because it was very busy the night before July 4th. They kept piling other customers dirty drink glasses next to me, when there was plenty of room to move them down. I was not bothered by this. However, my brother asked if I wanted to move down, once the couple next to us left. The bartender overheard my brother, moved and cleaned the glasses. I thought that was a nice gesture, but he should have noticed the 35 glasses sooner. Oh well, I really wasn't paying attention. Overall, we enjoyed our time! My brother and his family frequently eat here. I think I'll be back as well. Happy customer!

Came here on Christmas for a lunch with my boyfriend - we ordered the Tokyo Giant, Burning Man, and Out of Control rolls. Burning man was ok (my bf liked it, but I'm not into spicy things), but the out of control and Tokyo giant were superb. Fun atmosphere and super reasonably priced/delicious sushi!

I always want this place to be awesome... Every time I do sit in dining the service is pretty bad. Feels like there's a lot of staff turn over for the teenagers of KW. Usually have to double check if a question is asked and you know it's bad management when multiple servers bad mouth the establishment. I had to pay for an entree that I wanted to send back the first time I dined in. I'd taken 3 bites and it was just too over seasoned for me taste. Manager said "that's how it's made" and avoided us the rest of the time. Didn't offer to substitute with something else and didn't discount the cost when she said she would. Poor customer service. Always see and have gotten better service if in a larger/family group and going to be spending a lot of money. Make sure they read you back the order because it'll take a while for them to correct an error. I stick to sushi to go. The combo sushi and soups are alright. Crunchy, blossom, happy sumo are enjoyable. Always have to check and make sure it's correct before leaving.

Who doesn't like sushi?? Idiots that's who! Well, and people with shellfish allergies. Recently visited Akashi with Ryan R. for a Friday night dinner and we were shocked to see such a swanky modern joint in the middle of a Kingwood shopping center. The menu was overly stuffed with multiple roll variations, which can make deciding very hard for someone like me who was hungry and somewhat indecisive. After much contemplation we ordered a smorgasbord of sushi, including spicy tuna rolls, a New Orleans roll, some nigiri and the Red Dragon Roll. Oh, and some pan-fried dumplings as an appetizer. Of all our samplings, the Red Dragon Roll was the clear winner...spicy and flavorful! The place also offers a full bar and very efficient service.

Definitely the best sushi place in Kingwood. Great prices for the sushi. Our favorite rolls are the Chop Chop Roll, Dancing Tuna Roll, Jazz Roll, and our #1 roll: the Northpark Roll. I've never been disappointed at Akashi. Their fish is always fresh and the customer service is great. This is THE place to come to for sushi if you are in Kingwood.

I have to update my review since the first one was created as soon as they opened. I love this place! Love the atmosphere and the food and service has def gotten better. Lately though i feel as if they took the trendy vibe out which is a bummer for me because I am a young married woman and we loved having a place like this in Kingwood. I would suggest maybe bringing back the music on fri and sat night!! pleeeease! Anyways.....great food, melon ball martini and we will continue to come here as long as they are around.

This place deserved a review from me long ago; sorry for the delay, Akashi. Upon moving to Kingwood, it's the first restaurant my now husband and I dinned at and was also the first restaurant we went to after getting engaged. We have celebrated a few special occasions here when we have wanted to eat out near the house, and we have never had a disappointing visit. I know few would have guessed there is such good sushi to be found in Kingwood, but I have genuinely enjoyed every roll and piece of sashimi I have eaten here. Prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity. I've only had a few cooked dishes, but each was notably fresh. The cooked dishes are not your run-of-the-mill/generic dish. Sushi is my go-to here, but I doubt you'll be disappointed by a cooked dish. While there is a variety of rolls I like, I often enjoy the Lady Gaga roll. Anything spicy is always a top choice for me, too. Drink prices are reasonable (love me some sake). The ambience is nice enough without being too fancy. Come out for a semi-casual dinner or a slightly more formal event, and either way you will be comfortable. There is a good deal of seating available, and we have never had to wait long for a table. Service is typically very good. We have never waited long for our drinks to be refilled, for the next round of sake nor for our food to be prepared. They don't appear to be rushing you out the door, which is nice. I know servers need tables to make money, but I despise when a server rushes me out of a half-empty restaurant. Even if I'm "camping," a bit, I can tell there are free tables in your section, so don't rush me lol! All in all, this is a great place and we enjoy our visits each time. We will be back in soon.

Very trendy sushi place in kingwood. They have a wide range of wine and alcohol. This place makes fresh sushi and it's worth the price. My favorite is the Louisiana roll and the spicy Cajun roll. I haven't tried much of the other menu options as they have a wide variety of menu choices other than sushi but the chicken fried rice was excellent. The restaurant is very clean as well which is also a good sign.

My favorite "sushi spot" in the Kingwood area. Huge selection of cooked cuisine and very large sushi menu. Haven't ordered anything we haven't loved. My kids really like this place as well. Very clean, friendly staff, always fast service, and decent pricing. Definitely a hidden gem.

Akashi tries hard, I'll give them that. And, I have to say that I am a bit (ok a lot) of a sushi snob. If everything is covered in some type of mayo or eel sauce (OR BOTH!), coated in crunch, deep friend, etc, I think that the fish is suspect and I therefore do not like it. I prefer to taste the clean, fresh fish taste that should be inherent in sushi. I go here for lunch sometimes (I have an office in Kingwood that I go to on occasion). Coworkers love it, I am just "meh." Now, I do live in Houston proper and have regular access to gems like Kata Robata and even Oishii to get my delicious sashimi and good, clean tasting rolls for a fix. I also do not like that they have a "snow crab" roll that is supposed to have real crab in it, but is OBVIOUSLY "krab." Come on now dude. You charge EXTRA for the snow crab! If you prefer your sushi to be "Americanized" and a little less daring, then this is your place.

i have recently visited akashi sushi because i was in the mood for some sushi, so i came in and was sat down as soon as i walked in. sitting down ive looked around the place and i have to say i really like the modern look of the place it looks like a lounge/club and the wine bar is amazing. so ive ordered shrimp and avacado sushi rolls, veggie tempura, brocoli w/ garlic sauce, & 2 egg rolls for a starter everything was delicous egg rolls was on point was perfect and not spicey like most places i have ate egg rolls at, the veggie tempura was amazing a mix of mushroom, carrot, brocoli, onion, cabbage cook to perfection, the shrimp and avacado rolls were awesome and the brocoli w/ garlic sauce was to good! i had a good experience @ akashi sushi i would recommend anyone that is looking for some good sushi or for a wine bar, i will def. come back soon.

I ordered the broccoli with garlic sauce and an order of shrimp with avocado roll. It was really good. Good amount of garlic sauce, wasn't to much or to little. I also like the fact that the sauce wasn't to spicy or thick. The sushi was delicious too. The only downside is that it was a bit pricey for small portions of food. I spent more than $30 for these two dishes and two spring rolls and I didn't leave stuffed, I still had room for more. But I would come back because I enjoyed the food, maybe not for dinner but for brunch. The service was great by the way.

Love the Mango-Hawaiian role... not sure if that's the exact name though. The menu is eclectic with both Japanese and Chinese items from which to choose. The music was a bit too much; it's a restaurant in the suburbs, not a club in Midtown.

Their fusion rolls are absolutely delicious and definitely worth a try. Their unique sauces and presentation really make them stand out. The DFW Roll is by far my favorite, though it's a shame my favorite roll has to has such an unfortunate name. ;o Lunch specials are great too, plenty of food at a good price. Service is fine. The guys working at the sushi bar especially are great; fun to talk to if you come in to eat by yourself. A nice, upbeat look compared to the boring restaurants that mostly populate Kingwood -- though the music is a little annoying. Overall though a wonderful place and a breath of fresh air for this side of town. I hope it stays around!

Why have I driven by this place so many dang times and not thought to stop here?? Stopped here the other night with the husband for a quick bite on a date night. It was late so it was fairly empty and we got a neat booth seat. The inside is very clean and modern and the food, well the food is great. We decided for money purposes and our hunger factor we would go with the family plates that are $13 per person for your choice of soup, an appetizer sampler for each person, and a entree. I got the miso soup which I loved, but they were kind of shy on the green onion garnish and that's kind of my favorite part. My husbands wonton soup was very interesting looking and he said it tasted like chili... weird. The appetizers were 1 egg roll, 1 crap puff and 1 flat tail shrimp. All very tasty with their sweet and sour sauce. Based on previous reviews I had a peaked interest in the mongolian beef and everyone was pretty accurate. The meat is VERY tender but the dish was beautiful and being that I was so stuffed from the starters I had to box up what I had and take it home (it made a great late night snack). I have had very strong cravings for this place ever since that night so whatever they are doing they must keep it up. I highly recommend Akashi over Hunan Garden if you are getting take out. Prices are comparable but the quality is noticeable. I would like to see if their lunch prices are cheaper for al la carte sushi as it seemed pretty pricey if you wanted to get more than one roll or nigiri/sashimi.

Akashi is our go-to place for date night. The atmosphere is nice, and the food is always excellent. As many other reviews state, the service could be better, but overall it's decent enough. I always order the crab puffs, which is their take on crab rangoon. I've never been able to stomach crab rangoon, until I had their crab puffs. They're a must-have if you're going to visit Akashi. I also always get the same entree: a volcano roll. The spicy tuna is to die for. Prices are fairly reasonable for the portions and excellent quality of the food. I absolutely recommend Akashi to anyone that hasn't tried it yet.

New, this is a must try place in Kingwood. Asian fusion, and great sushi. Do yourself a favor and give it a try. Update: We have been here many times now. They have some normal fare along with wonderful sushi. And so far, every thing I have had is just slightly different, than what you might consider "normal". Now I am of the distinction these slight changes to the normal dishes are an improvement. But I also there are those of you out there, that like your Kung Po a certain way, not with big tasty chunks of veggies, or served in a shallow dish. You may not like the tender choice beef in your Mongolian beef. I was with a group and a couple of people were of this ilk. Not there is anything wrong with that, but the FUSION part should give you a hint. I however find this to be one of the better places in Kingwood.

My family and I LOVE Asian food so of course as soon as a new sushi place opened in Kingwood- we HAD to try it. I love Japanese-Chinese fusion places and Akashi does fusion correctly. On our first visit my husband and I both ordered Bento boxes. The boxes were pretty standard with a meat, rice, California roll, salad and miso soup. My Mongolian beef was cooked to perfection with a nice jalapeno touch for heat.My husband had Red Snapper which was nice and flaky with a good sauce. We ordered our two year old the chicken lo mein which he loved. A small complaint would be that they don't offer child size portions and I hate spending $9 dollars when my child won't finish the plate. One occasion I did have a server offer a half portion but on our next visit we were told they did not do that. We also love their sushi. They have several unique rolls that aren't often found in this area! I love the Louisiana Roll (spicy crawfish and avacado) and the NY roll. The sashimi is always fresh and served on well cooked rice. Good food but you'll definitely pay the price.. The only time we've ever gotten out under $50 was at luncy.

The food was so amazingly delicious. Our server was great and we received our meals in a timely manner. I am looking forward to coming back again.

The service was pretty bad but the food was really good. My table of four tried a wide variety of food and it was all good, I think you'd be hard pressed to find something that wasn't tasty.

The Art of Maki Roll is easily one of the best things I've ever eaten. Instead of the traditional soy or seaweed wrap, it's rolled in thinly sliced tuna. Each piece sits in a shallow pool of homemade sauce that I'd love to be able to replicate at home. The only thing holding this place back from 5 stars is the service. I have taken the family many times and the service is consistently horrible. You can expect several members of your party to get their food at different times. I've had the kids finish their meals before mine is even delivered to the table. Drink refills often go ignored. Once when dining alone, I sat at the bar expecting better service. It turned out the lady serving drinks could not take my order. Maybe she could and simply chose to ignore me. I could only look around hoping that perhaps someone else working there believed the restaurant existed primarily to serve food. Even a guy in the corner who appeared to be a manager ignored me. I almost walked out after sucking the last bit of water through my straw. If the owner is reading this, try cutting back your menu. You may be trying to do too much. Perhaps the HUGE selection you're offering is causing problems in the kitchen and among your workers. But fortunately i care more about food than service. I wish they cared for both equally.

Best sushi place in the area- the atmosphere is more of a dinner atmosphere. They have a huge selection of rolls and a great tasting set of sashimi- the yellowtail, salmon, tuna, and unagi are fantastic. They also have Chinese food and some other Japanese food, but I've only had the Sushi. The price is a bit on the pricey side, but I can't complain between the service and the taste! I recommend the mochi green tea ice cream bites, their green tea ice cream is tasty as well.

Wife and I were driving around Woodland hills and just happened to see there was this restaurant in the corner of the large strip center. Something decided to try the restaurant out, maybe figured they had a lunch special. Walked into this Nice restaurant that did not think it would be this nice just from the outside. Nice modern restaurant, a full wall filled for the Bar, Three tvs and very attentive waiter staff. Service was excellent .. food was prompt, and it was perfect tasted fresh, hot, ordered fresh fries for my 18 month old... didn't know how they would turn out in a sushi place, but they were good ... over all sushi was good, Mongolian chicken was good, egg drop soup, hot and sour soup was good... will be going back to this place again... It was a hidden gem and will be bringing us back... sorry no photo of food but it went down quick but maybe next time

Surprised at the look and feel. Nicely stocked bar was the first thing I saw but I was just ordering take out. Ordered Kung pow chicken lunch, egg drop soup and egg roll. $7.02 w/ tax. Food was fresh and tasty. I am looking forward to a happy hr. session in '12

I rarely do reviews, especially when a place has been open less than 3 weeks, but I'm certain that the kinks will get worked out and this will be one of the top restaurants in the Houston area. I have been twice and I have multiple friends that have already been multiple times and we are all in agreement that the food is excellent. Red Dragon Rolls, any of the pepper tuna dishes, and the octopus salad (4 pieces of octopus on iceberg lettuce topped with cruchy roll crumbs and several nice sauces - $5) are excellent. Kingwood adopted this place so quickly that they are having a hard time keeping up. I did notice the sushi chef training another chef recently. I think they must have started with one really good sushi chef and were not prepared for the business to grow so quickly. I can't wait to go back.

Today was the fourth time I have eaten here.. I loved this place because the ginger dressing on the green salad and fried rice are my favorite!!! My husband isn't a fan but will go on the rare occasion for me. After we got our food, he realized that his was slimy. The beef was cooked in the sauce so long that when we put it in our mouth it was not able to be chewed but rather mushed and I had to swallow before it made me gag. So I said something to the waiter and we changed his order. Thinking everything is now great, we keep eating. As I am finishing what I am able to eat of my order of fried rice, I notice what looks like burn marks on the rice... and curiosity got the best of me.. so I touched it... only it was a 3 to 4 inch hair that was rolled up and cooked in the food. It was clearly not mine as it was thick and dark black and I have very fine dirty blonde hair. Not wanting to complain again about food we paid the tab and left. We tipped the waiter well as this was not his fault and he quickly addressed our first problem. I give the 3 stars because while I enjoyed the food the first 3 times I visited this place, having two things wrong in one sitting is carelessness to me and once a cook gets sloppy, it doesn't get better. I work at a restaurant and might be biased on how I feel things should be done. And maybe I am being hard on them; however, I have stopped eating at places for far less..

I like this place so much that I eat here at least 2 times per month. The food is very fresh. My personal favorite is the Burning Man, but there is tons of dishes to choose from. The staff could stand to be a bit more friendly, but they don't lack in attentiveness. I would recommend this place. It's up there with one of the better sushi spots in all of the Houston area. I have taken my toddler there a couple of times, but it's not very entertaining for them, so unless they are the patient kind of child, I wouldn't recommend you take your children there.

I did enjoy the food.. but the service is lacking. NO ONE in the place is very friendly. Too bad ... I've been in a couple of times to try and give them another shot... service really is just lacking.. fix that and the place would be nice

I've only had take-out a few times since my initial review and I can find no reason to down-grade my rating. It is obvious to me that the food is alway freshly prepared. The Spring Rolls are better than anywhere else in the area. The staff isn't overly friendly but they are always very attentive. The place is always clean and it is two blocks from my house. There's plenty of diversity in the menu. Personally, I can't ask for much more

The sushi was good but I was more impressed with the quality and taste of the Chinese food! Great decor and the lighting was cool. The server was nice but had no knowledge of the menu and said "She doesn't eat that type of food"??? Probably not the best thing to admit!

Food was good. Service was decent. It took a while for our server to get to our table and ask us for drinks. When he did all he said was "What are y'all drinking?" There was no introduction or anything. When the food came out we only got the 2 rolls we ordered without the sashimi which I would think was easier to prepare. I was also pretty thirsty that night so I was drinking my water pretty quickly. Instead of keeping up with refilling my drink, he just brought another glass of water to the table. The place wasn't even that busy. When he brought the check it was obvious we were his last table, it was still over an hour to close, and he drops it and walks out the front door to not be seen again. The manager ended up running my card and bringing the receipt back to me. Needless to say he didn't receive a decent tip since he didn't even stay long enough to receive it. I'll be back, but won't expect good service, just good food.
