After checking out the menu over a month ago I was excited to try this place. The area is known for some pretty solid burger joints, so bringing in another Houston staple sounded like a great idea. It surely was! I had never been to another Hubcap Grill location, but I've heard good things over the years. This past weekend I showed up about 4 PM on a Friday. There was not much of a crowd for an early dinner, so we were able to order right away. I like how they have a lot of drink options as well as the many options for burgers fries etc. I went with the quadruple heart clogger, because go big or go home right? My girlfriend went with the Cheeto burger, because they were out of the muffaletta mixture. Now it's easy to load a burger up with a bunch of stuff to mask the flavor of bland beef, but this was not the case at Hubcap Grill. The burger patty alone had an amazing flavor and good bite to it. You just know when a burger has been handmade and seasoned properly. They do it well at Hubcap. The bacon was smoky, the chili and cheese combo were great, and the hotdog took this quadruple burger to the next level. It's probably not a burger you should eat all the time, but do yourself a favor and try at least one! As my girlfriend tells it the cheeto burger was also amazing and the cheese sauce was a good combo with the cheetos. We split an order of regular fries, because the burgers were pretty big and there is no way I could have finished off that massive burger and a side of my own fries. The regular fries looked freshly hand cut. It's hard to beat fresh handcut fries. Overall this place was worth the wait. Just make sure you don't come on a Monday to the Kemah location. I tried this and didn't notice on the website they are closed on Monday for this location. I cannot wait to go back and try more of their great burgers. I will be telling everyone to go check it out.

Pros; Good food. I preferred the french fries over the sweet potato fries. We ordered 3 different burgers, Bacon Cheese, Philly Cheesesteak, and Frito Pie. All were very good. Not the best burger I've ever had but good none the less. Love the deck. Cons; Order taker was surly. There was a line at 11:15 a.m. on a Wed. And it's in Kemah, not my favorite area, too crowded and parking can be difficult. The deck and the variety of burgers is what will bring me back but there are several good burgers in the area that will also draw me

Get the sticky burger. It's the most patriotic thing an American can get. Peanut butter, cheddar cheese, and bacon on a beef patty.

Stupid good. Easy top three best burgers I've ever had at a restaurant. Good prices. Burger size was on point, but be in the mood for a big burger if you order a double. We got the sliders and hubcap special double. All were great. All component s of the Burger were excellent. Good crust on meat, fresh not middle of the mall buns, good sauces. Fries were also not an after thought, fresh cut and delicious. They also have a slew of bottled sodas and local brews which anyone could appreciate. I'll be back.

I finally got the chance to eat a Hubcap Grill. I keep reading about this place and have had it on my list for a while. They are one of many to claim "The best burger". I know they have won some votes in a couple of burger polls. I must say I was expecting more. Not much seating indoors so when it gets hot I won't even think about going there. I ordered the guacamole swiss burger with bacon. It was way too salty. There was very little guacamole, I had to pull apart the bun to even see if it was there. The fries were good,, fresh cut. I like the Mexican coke in a bottle. If you have never tried the Mexican cokes get one, they are way better than the ones we have in the can or plastic bottle. Unfortunately I have to drive past Tookies to get to HCG so I doubt I will be driving that extra distance very often if ever again. I think Tookies has them beat. If you really want to try a great burger check my review for Silver Sycamore Tea Room.

The whole FU business model which mandates what you will and won't have on the burger you pay for seems to indicate an insecure chef. So, I took my appetite elsewhere. The sliders for the kids were ok. Dry, no veggies, couldn't add them...meh. what's the big dea

I love hubcap so much! Their burgers are crazy good and very hugely portioned. All the specialty fries are to die for. I usually share a burger because they're so big. A big selection of awesome craft beers. Super cool outdoors patio, also indoor AC seating. the cashier Jordan rules! It's also down the street from Kemah so it's fairly close to the boardwalk and other activitiea.

Burger is really good. Got the Sticky Burger with PB&J. Wait time on a Friday is suspect. Took us 20 mins to order and another 35 mins before the food came out. I've been to all three locations and I haven't been disappointed. Just wish they were more efficient.

First time visiting on a Sunday afternoon and we were prepared to wait--but much to our surprise there was no line! Walked right up, placed our order with the incredibly friendly counter person, and before we could finish our beers, the food was ready. The burgers were absolutely delicious--and huge! Great flavor, nice crust, and the buns were sturdy but not overpowering. We shared an order of the bacon cheese fries and the only complaint I had was with the portion-- I could've eaten twice as much! We used to be Tookies people, but I think we're definitely Hubcap customers from here on out!

We came here to escape the madness and cookie cutter food establishments at the Boardwalk. The patio was shady and relaxing even at the hottest part of the day. There is a small air conditioned dining area with about 6 tables if you need to get out of the heat. The Frito Pie burger was really good. It was a bit messy, but not overly so. The chili was nicely seasoned and Fritos added a nice crunchy texture. Cheese and jalapeños added nicely to the overall flavor. The Cheesy Chito burger is exactly what it says. A burger covered in cheese sauce, then topped with crunchy Chitos. I didn't get to try a bite of this because my friend ate it so fast. He did say it was very good and he would order it again. The Guacamole Swiss burger was a slight let down, but only because the guac wasn't that good. Greek Fries are awesome, so are the chili cheese fries. We also had the Hell fries with jalapeños and sriracha. They were not as hot as I would have guessed. All burgers here are large, even with just a single patty. If you are looking for a place to get away from the crowds and have a nice reasonably priced meal. This is a great choice. You can walk here from the boardwalk, but it is a long walk (5 blocks from the roller coaster). In the heat, we were completely soaked with sweat when we arrived. They do have a parking lot on the West side, and head in parking along the streets.

I really enjoyed this place and I'm glad we have one close now. It helped that I had been told ahead of time that it takes time for your burger to get to you (30 mins) and that it's mostly outdoor seating. I hadn't been to the other locations so I didn't know that that's kinda their thing. I also think we hit them between lunch and dinner rushes so that helped too. The staff was very helpful and nice. Loved the craft beer selection. They also have a lot of different sodas to choose from. The menu has a lot on it even though it's mostly just burgers and fries. It's not health food. I loved my Hatch Green Chile burger. And I had it in less than 20 mins. I had the Hell Fries to go along with it and they were also very good. The burger was one of the best I've ever had and I can't wait to try the rest of the menu. Nice job Hubcap!

The food was okay, nothing too exciting. The burgers seemed a bit dry in my opinion. I had the sweet potato fries also and they didn't have much flavor other than grease. Hopefully this was just a one time thing.

I came here with family and friends on July 4th, and the food was awesome! I have never seen so many types of excellent varietys of hamburgers. The deck felt great with a breeze and an ice cold beer. I would definitely recommend this place to any burger lover!

Great Green Chile Cheese burger, had a nice kick to it!! Patty fit the bun circumference wise and it was not too thick. Friendly employees and great deck to eat on. Fries were pretty good as well.

I was super stoked when I found out a hubcap grill was opening near my home. Because the one downtown the burgers and steak sandwiches are great! However, my excitement quickly dissipated with the first bit of the burger. It came out way to quick which means they are precook, siting around, and heated up as they are ordered. I would much rather waitied 15 - 20 for a fresh burger. It was over cooked, dry with a rubber texture. On a positive note it does look like fun place to hang out side on top deck watch a football game and have a few beers. Now if they can only step up there game and get the food right they would be doing good.

Second visit to Hubcap. Today I tried the Philly Cheese Burger. The Philly accoutrements were very good. Very flavorful grilled and sliced very thin sirloin with melted cheese, peppers and onions. If this was a Philly cheesesteak it would garner 5 stars. Unfortunately their main act, the burger sets it back. I just find their burger to be way too dry. Their house made seasoning only adds to the dryness of the meat. You would need a tub of ketchup to dip the meat into if you were ever doing one of those competitive eating contests. A sweeter roll would help offset this a bit. My suggestion is to add a Philly cheesesteak (sans the patty) to the menu and they would have a true 5 star sandwich. As far as the burgers go, I just don't get the love.

Mushroom Swiss burger and Greek fries are amazing....the view isn't half bad either! Perfect place to enjoy a Sunday afternoon with your kiddos, eat great food, and listen to good music as long as you remember change for jukebox.

Yummy! Great burgers, lots of different varieties, and great fries. They have all sorts of sodas and beers to choose from. We love this place and try to come every time we are in town.

  • Chris M.

Had a great peanut butter and bacon burger with an IPA. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because of small indoor seating area and it isn't full service. Not that that's bad, it is what it is and the food was great. I would recommend.

  • James S.

Better than average, food is good & made to order, lots of beef in 1 patty so unless your a big eater stay with a single patty, share the fries too huge portions. This place wasn't too busy, seating on balcony overlooking the surroundings was pleasant, the lady who took the order seemed genuinely happy we were there (may be the owner) Good representation of local small business Americana, would go back. Cannot give more stars, it's just a simple burger & fries grill that serves food on disposable plates, beer & sodas outa bottles, and packets of mayonnaise. Seating in picnic tables or basic table setups and plays music periodically from a CD track. Place seemed clean too. Parking was easy for as crazy crowded as the area is, they have an additional parking lot.

Hubcap grill is a gun place to catch a gourmet burger down by the Kemah Board walk area (Bradford at 8th). I like the artery clogger (beef, bacon, hotdog, and egg). They have about 40 different styles of bottle beer and soft drinks. The burgers are cooked through, but steamed with butter, so they come out juicy. Not cheap, not fast, but good outdoor burgers

The burgers were really good. I went with a friend I got the frito chili burger my friend got the hubcap burger. Greek fries good bacon chili cheese fries better. I don't eat mayo and the sauce on Greek fries had to much of that mayo taste but I would recommend them to others. We sat outside a nice breeze. I did think it was a tad expensive for burger and fries with 1 beer $18.00. still will go back want to try other burgers and fries

Yummy! This place isn't in the best location for it's popularity, not enough space! The wait wasn't too long, but we ended up having to wait an hour until we got our food. They had warned us before that it was a long wait. I ordered the Black and Blue burger and my date ordered the Guacamole Burger. We had a side of the Greek Fries. My burger was INCREDIBLE! I was so pleased and the fries were delicious. Love the hubcap sauce. My dates burger was good, but not the best. His bun was soggy and it tasted mushy. Everything else on it was good. You can buy St. Arnold's by the bottle. Try the lemonade!

It was alright. There are better burgers in the area and I don't think it lives up to the hype. I came here recently with a group of friends. My boyfriend and I decided to split the Texas BBQ burger with a fried egg on top and the Texas fries. When we first showed up around 6 pm there was no line or wait, but when we decided to order (around 8 pm) there was a rather long line and we were told our burgers would take around 25 minutes. I honestly didn't mind - the atmosphere was really nice and laid back which is why were sitting around chatting for a couple hours in the first place! I wasn't too impressed with the burger. The egg yolk wasn't runny at all, and the bottom bun was rather soggy making the burger difficult to eat. The patty I got wasn't particularly juicy either. Overall it was your average burger - nothing spectacular. As for the fries - they were okay. They were a bit too greasy for me - but my boyfriend thought they were amazing so take this with a grain of salt. I think they just aren't my type of fries. The chili that it was paired with was good though. I also ended up nibbling on my friends' fries and of the 4 options I tried I would rate them in this order: Greek Fries, Country Fries, Texas Fries, Hell Fries. But again I didn't love any of them. Sharing the burger and fries was also definitely the right choice. I barely got through my half of the burger and a quarter serving of the fries! Large portions indeed! I would come back - but only if a friend wanted to eat here. I don't think I would suggest this place myself. I prefer other burger places in the area such as Tookies.

Went back again to make sure that the burgers and fries were consistent and I could not have been more pleased. The fries were crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The hatch burger was cooked perfectly and the cheese was properly melted. The place was very crowded but we received our order in about 15 minutes. The place was also spotless and the staff was again very friendly. One person of the staff stood out as she not only helped bus and clean tables, take food and beverage orders but also brought our order out to us and her name was Nicole.I hope the owner reads this and gives this young lady a raise.By the way, still waiting on onion rings to be put on the menu !!!

Yum!!! Got. Bacon cheeseburger with a fried egg on top was good but what blew me away was the sticky sliders we shared as a table. OMG! Peanut butter and a burger is something of magic! Will get again for sure. Also got the bacon cheese fries which were good. Strongly recommend the sticky burger. Outdoor seating on patio and great craft beers.

Was actually going to another restaurant when we noticed the Hubcap Grill had opened. Glad we did. Everyone in our group of 5 had a different burger. Everyone loved what they had, the relaxed atmosphere and we will all be returning. Ready to try one of the other many choices they have

I am sure there might be a wait at some times during the week, but not on the night I was there. 2 large tables of after work crowd and 1 family on a Tuesday at 6:00pm. My Ranch burger and regular fries was ready in less than 5 mins. Perfecto!!!! 2 beers chosen from the wall and it was alllllll ggggoooooooodah. Would be well worth the wait if it did take longer.

Huge burgers and good buns. Not cookie cutter by any means. Patty was plenty big. Came with mustard and mayo and all the fixings. I had cheeseburger with American cheese. Just not a super flavorful burger, but it was still good. I ordered sweet potato fries...very good. A friend had the stinky fries with vinegar and garlic. Yum! There many other fries with different toppings that I will try next time. Fries were hand cut and really better than the burger. I ordered water and paid $2.25 for a small bottle of water. I drink a lot of water, so once I was done, no refills. No fountain drinks here. Only bottled soda, bottled water and bottled tea. Lots of beers and some wine choices. I love the ambience and it's off the beaten path of the commercialized boardwalk. Next time I will split a burger and eat more fries :)

Delicious burgers. The wait was not long and was worth it. The atmosphere is that of a backyard grill, so it was relaxing. The fries were delicious and overall the price was a great value. I loved the hamburger bun. The only complaint was that the delicious fries were not long, instead it was many small chips.

Had always heard about Hubcap from various polls but never had cause to visit their Houston locations. Found out very recently that they'd opened a spot in Kemah and was excited to be able to go. Staff was very knowledgeable about the different burgers and even offered beer suggestions. We ordered a Hangover and a Ranch BLT, along with fries. Both burgers were obviously fresh and well prepared. The bun was even of good quality and held together. These are big juicy burgers so the bun really made a difference. We enjoyed the quirky second story outdoor location and rocking music in the background. Can't wait to go again and try another.

We stayed at the hotel next door and was intrigued by this place when checking in. The owner has taken time to decorate this place to a T to hubcaps & etc. We dined there tonight despite the chilly weather. The patio was good sized but the inside was very small and didn't look too cozy. The selection if beers are wide ranged, all bottles. They have water & soft drinks, bottle as well. The burgers sound extremely great on the menu & looked great when we got them, but we were not impressed as we ate them. The buns were toasted(which we liked) but the meat was over cooked and fell apart. The bacon was scarce on my burger. Fries were covered in seasoning and not portioned to share. Overall, this place would have gotten a better rating had the food been freshly prepared & kept clean.

Just as good as the Houston location but raised deck makes for an awesome way to enjoy a nice day.

First timer. It was cold and dreary out so we went inside to eat. There were a grand total of 6 tables inside. Cramped feeling, with dirty tables and even dirtier bathrooms. The burger was good, not great. Meat juicy and seasoned well. Bread had a nice toast on it from the flat grill and it was decent. The sweet potato fries were good, not a big enough portion for sharing. The nostalgic decor and classic rock playing would make it a nice place to hang out on the patio on a sunny day while enjoying a beer. I'm not inclined to go back but if a friend asked to meet there to hang out I wouldn't say no.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Was very excited to find out there was one close to me vs the one in the heights! Enjoyed the hangover burger threw a fried egg on there extra delish! My friend had the cheeto burger, he devoured it! Also added chili n cheese to our fries and sat out on the deck to enjoy kemahs breeze!

Great burger spot! Could give Tookies a run. Only came here because my little brother is a burger glutton and wanted to try this spot. Now we have a 2 burger gluttons in the family The patty was fresh, juicy and the perfect portion. The bun held everything together. We had the Hangover, the Hawaiian, and the Texas BBQ as for fries we had the Chilli Cheese (which were just okay) and the Sweet Potato (Average but good). These 5 items was enough for 3 adults but felt like they'd eaten food for 5 adults towards the end. We stopped in here recently and had to wait in the cold for a table. Total wait time was about 20-30 minutes for our food and for us to get tables inside. They should really invest in some heater lights for the patio, for the winter months. They have way more outdoor seating then indoor so this wont be an issue most of the year. Another thing that needs to be mentioned- THEY HAVE AN AWESOME BEER SELECTION!

Decided to come here after my second half marathon, as I had had so many carbs, I needed some protein in the form of a huge fat juicy burger! Luckily Hubcap Grill delivered! Although, arriving here and realizing I had to walk up stairs to get there almost made me turn around. Then, it looked like there wasn't any inside seating and I almost turned around. But there is, it's just tiny and hidden away on the other side. I'm glad I kept on, because this was a damn fine meal to celebrate with! You order at the window, even if you sit inside, and they give you a number to come pick it up (outside) at the pick up window. I got a cheeseburger, with everything but onions and hubby got a hamburger with everything. Plus we ordered Bacon Cheese Fries to share. They sodas are only in bottles, but it looks like they have a jug of water and Styrofoam cups now for water, but I didn't see that until I ordered my $2.25 bottle of soda. Oh well. The whole bill was only $21.64 so I ain't complaining! We went inside and the wait wasn't too bad; granted this was at 4:30 on a cold, drizzly Sunday. I'm sure it gets busier in the peak season. And the place is so freaking cute...and by cute I mean tiny! You could probably fit 25 people in there. But the patio is nice and big, so I would definitely sit outside if the weather is decent. So they called our number (69, which made me giggle because I have the sense of humor of a 14 year old boy), and we picked up our food and holy cow those burgers looked good! Huge and fresh! And they definitely tasted just as good as they looked! Messy and yummy, with burgery goodness dripping down your arm. The fries were really good too, but even when I'm not carbed out I'm not a big fry fan. Hubby says he thinks these burgers are better than Tookie's. I think they are pretty darn close, but I better go back a few times to make sure. This place is quaint, and reasonable, and delicious. There's really nothing I can knock for any reason, but I want to try a specialty burger too before I give out five stars. Although if you can't make a plain burger well, then it probably won't taste better with fancy fixins. We will definitely be back, and I hope it's soon! Great place, great food, and great atmosphere! Can't wait!

I love a good burger and this place has a few interesting ones to pick from. However, I can only vouch for the one I had...the jalapeno burger. It was everything a burger should be, juicy, fresh ingredients, but oddly enough when I took my first few bites...no jalapenos! OOPS. I took it back to the window and they were quick to fix their mistake, but I thought it was worth noting. I also ordered the stinky fries which is reason enough to return. These fries were smothered in garlic and malt vinegar. While completely delicious, their name says it all. STANKY! Overall, I cant wait to go back and try a few other burgers. Maybe one with cheetos? Peanut butter? Fritos?

Really good place to come for a burger and fries. Bunch of original burgers you can try out if interested (peanut butter on a burger?!). I got the Texas BBQ burger and my friend got the guacamole Swiss. Both were great. Cheese fries were tasty too. They have a decent selection of bottled craft beer. Definitely would come back when craving a burger.

Took the family to the Hubcap Grill for burgers tonite at the Kemah location located at 800 Bradford street. It is located a couple of blocks away from the boardwalk area so it's a little bit quieter and there is a little less traffic back here. It's a nice little place located upstairs with an outdoor deck and it also has an indoor dining area. The weather was fantastic tonite when we arrived so we elected to eat outside. There was a gentle breeze blowing off the bay which greatly added to the ambience of being on the deck just a block or so from Galveston Bay. My wife ordered the bacon and swiss burger with mushrooms, and a side of cheese fries. I ordered the Black and Blue burger with a side of their Greek fries! The Black and Blue burger was delicious and came with bacon and their Blue cheese dressing! The Greek fries came with bacon bits, crumbled goat cheese and their Hubcap dipping sauce that looked to be a combination of mayonnaise and catsup? At any rate it was very good. The wife changed her order and got herself an order of the Greek fries which she enjoyed as much as I did mine!!! She gave her cheese fries to our daughter who had ordered their Guacamole burger minus the tomatoes. They had a large assortment of local and import beers to choose from, but we all went with coke in the 10oz. Glass bottles! All of us really enjoyed the burgers which everyone agreed were all excellent!!! Also the atmosphere of the cool slightly breezy afternoon really made it enjoyable to be outdoors this time of year! I did not realize they have been open since last June or July and have been wanting to go try the original Hubcap Grill in downtown Houston. In almost sure this is as good as the original! I highly recommend giving the Hubcap Grill in Kemah a try if you want a great burger!!! They really have a wide range of menu items to choose from! Come check it out and see! The local joints need to watch out, you have some real tough competition!!!!!

So I've heard about their in town locations but have never been able to stop in. My friend mentioned that they opened a Kemah location and we had to try it. We got there on a Sunday around 7 pm. It said they were open until 9 but last call for alcohol and food were at 8. Just a heads up. My buddy ordered the Muffaletta burger and I ordered the Hubcap Decker. He had the stinky fries a D I figured that was enough burger for me and skipped. It's not a fast food joint and there are even signs there saying expect the food to take a bit and enjoy a beer. Beer selection was good and I had a Gilleys. Food was out in about 20 or so minutes. No biggie. It was a nice day on the outdoor patio. So the food....legit! My burger was massive. It was probably one of the juiciest burgers I've ever had. The flavor was on point and the bun was amazing. A slice of Texas toast was the middle deck. My friend said his burger was awesome and ate it in about 27 seconds. The fries were good as well as I stole a few to check them out. Bottom line. Amazing burgers. Good atmosphere. Good beer selection. I'll definitely be back and parking was nothing. It's far enough away from the boardwalk for the locals to go and not have to deal with the tourist traffic. They can have their frozen fried seafood.

Hubcap Grill is a Houston institution that I never had the opportunity to try. It always stood out as a glaring omission on my burger arguments. That's why I almost exploded with excitement when I heard they were opening a Kemah location. Forget going just once. This meant I could go for lunch all the time. Today was the first trip and I'll give an initial assessment of the food and the grounds. The Food: I went with the patty melt but added a fried egg. This came at the recommendation of the young lady working the counter. I also ordered the country fries. I was impressed. Very impressed. The burger patty was large but far from dried out. It was cooked to perfection and the fried egg just added to the greasy goodness. I found myself running through napkins like a 14 year old boy who just discovered the internet. It really was perfection. The hand cut fries were delicious and got even better with country gravy and bacon smothered all over them. They also have a nice selection of craft beers but I'll have to wait for another visit to indulge. The Grounds: I understand they're going for the dive vibe and it's working. I'm glad they had the common sense to at least include an interior seating area. It isn't a very big area but the AC blows cold. The bathrooms were clean and all the essentials were stocked. The deck seemed nice and I'm sure it will be extremely pleasant by the end of the month. You order at a window and pick up at another window and the process works just fine. Nothing fancy but this isn't fancy dining. The lady at the window was really nice and answered all the questions I had. She knew the menu well and pointed me in the right direction. My only complaint is that they don't have a soda/water fountain. They chose to go with individual bottles of soda and the communal water jug. This might not seem like a big deal but it is for me. I hate paying two dollars for a bottled water/soda. A burger and fries costs close to 14 dollars. This should be more than enough to give people a soda machine with free refills. Still, don't let this deter you from coming. The seating and parking is also extremely limited. This might cause problems if the place really catches on. Which it should because the food is AMAZING. Conclusion: Tookies and Stomps have a serious problem on their hands. The Hubcap Grill has arrived and they're slinging some serious burgers. Only a few burgers in all of Texas can touch this place. Bernie's and the now defunct but glorious Burger Guys are the only that comes to mind. Go now. Right now.

Great burgers and fries! Love the atmosphere too! Great place to sit outside and enjoy Kemah. Recommend the Philly Cheese Steak burger & bacon cheese fries. Oh so good! We also had the regular fries and the double meat burger which were also very good. I don't think you could go wrong at this place.

Bear with me, readers, as I have to get this off my chest. The very first meal I can recall having was a cheeseburger at the old Weingarten's grill in Dickinson, Texas sometime in the late 60's. I can still remember how incredibly satisfying each and every bite was, and as a boy of 6 or 7, it has stayed with me my entire life. Over 40 years have passed since that culinary awakening, and I remember the taste of that burger today as if it were yesterday. Since then, I have eaten more burgers in my life than probably anyone alive, I'm damn sure of it. I have eaten them all over the country. I've tried recommendations from Triple D, Man vs. Food, Food Paradise, Houston's Best, Yelp reviews, Urban Spoon, you name it. Christian's Tailgate (aka Christian's Totem), T-Bone Tom's, Fuddruckers, Lankford Grocery, Beyond Burger, Stomp's, Smashburger, Champ Burger, 5 guys and any ol' hole-in-the-wall joint I could find. For whatever reason, I had never been to Hubcap Grill in The Heights or Downtown, so when the newest Location opened up in Kemah, I was ready to mark this one off my list. It's located in what I like to call the outskirts of the Kemah Boardwalk, Just a block East of T-Bone Tom's. It's a small, unassuming pile house structure that's nicely decorated, with a small parking lot for it's guests. There's a small inside dining area of about 5 tables and an outside area with plenty of tables. You will probably be greeted at the outside ordering window by Alec. He's taken our order each time we've been there and he is always smiling and upbeat. Will happily name all of the many beers they carry and will come by your table (with a smile) and check on you throughout your meal. Very accommodating. The guy deserves a raise in my opinion. Now to the burgers. I'm getting a tingling down my spine just thinking about it. Best. Burger. Ever. And don't even get me started on the fries. We don't have that kind of time. I could go on all day about the thick, juicy, hand-formed patty and the unworldly way all of the fixings and condiments come together around the meat and inside the bun. As you take that first bite, the euphoria your taste buds experience will force your ears to hear what can only be described as all the angels in Heaven belting out "Oh Happy Day". Let me sum it all up by saying (in my best Jim Carrey doing Charlton Heston voice), "King of burgers, thy name is Hubcap Grill!"

Not a Lankford burger... that's for dang sure. Will continue to make treks downtown for burgers. Positive: Strongbow on the menu.

Awesome! Great burgers and burger selection. Double fried fries! AND the best bottled beer selection in Kemah!

This place is great! The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is they need more indoor seating and better indoor ambiance . I know that's not what they are going for but it would be great in this unpredictable weather we have. So glad they are in Kemah since we just moved here . I don't eat meat so they made a fresh grill cheese- I can't say enough about the French fries and my husband loved the burger. Just know that it's comfort food so save your calories for this outing ! But sooo worth it!

Love me some Hubcap Grill! I'm glad they opened a location in kemah. Fresh made food is always best. They also accommodate folks with gluten free allergies. You can take your own GF bun and they will toast it for you and make your burger :)

Okay, I heard a lot of my friends raving about this place. I had also heard that the original location was amazing. But being that they opened one in Kemah near where I live, I figured I would try it out. It was a Friday night but a slow night in a restaurant's perspective. I ordered my food at about 8:30 along with a beer. I grabbed my ticket and my beer and sat down. My friend and I were sitting talking and drinking, and started to wonder where our food was. I looked at my watch and it was already 9:20. It shouldn't take about an hour to make two hamburgers and two orders of fries. Once we finally got our food, which I had ordered the Cheesy Cheeto Burger and the Country fries which had gravy and bacon, I wasn't too impressed. The fries were pretty good. The burger however was mediocre at best. I'd have better luck making my own burger at home and putting some nacho cheese and cheetos on it. The staff seemed to be more involved in their conversations than the customers as well. And when our food was finally out to us, one of the employees came to check on us and jokingly said "Well when it finally came out, how was it?" Not a way to joke about a situation like that. More than likely won't be going back here any time soon. I would have given 1 star but the fries gave it two.

Sat outside and enjoyed a beer and burger. Food came out in no time and food tasted fantastic! I had a cheeseburger with a fried egg, and washed it down with Gilley's beer! others with me had the cheesy cheeto burger, philly, muffuletta, and fries that had cheese and bacon on them. It was all delicious and did not taste like a frozen patty. We will definitely be eating there again!

Overall everything is great I love everything about the place except for one thing if I want to put my tomatoes onions and pickles on the side its not allowed! So I'm sorry but I will go the extra half a mile and get it done by tookies the way I'd like. I really wish I knew the reason that they do that but all in all the customers should be right. But I'll give you the reason that I don't like doing it like that is because by the time I get home everything is soggy so I would rather have my stuff on the side and when I get home put it together and have a perfect burger hopefully somebody will change this rule

While the food is as every bit as consistently good as its other locations, the kitchen is incredibly slow!!!! There's not much of a crowd, so I'm a little confused as to why.

Such a unique little place. My husband and three year old could share a stinky fry! So that just shows how big the side of french fries were. And we weren't able to finish our huge, yummy, juicy burgers! If you want a full belly and a hamburger any way you want it, then definitely come here!

After seeing Hubcap Grill on Texas Bucket List I decided to try it since I was in the neighborhood. We were not disappointed. These were some of the best burgers we have had in a long time. I had the Texas barbecue burger. It was seasoned perfectly, juicy and loaded with the toppings. It was a bit messy but the sauce was very good. Just pick up a few extra napkins. My wife had the muffelatta burger and it was very good also. She really liked the olive salad. We will definitely be back soon.

Had a lot of fun ..Wasn't really sure if it was open ?? The Open sign wasn't on . But went here (YELP) first to check times of operation and was a little confuse about where to walk up the stairs at but make it and Glad we did .My son took me out to lunch .We had two cheeseburgers and chili fries .All under 18.00 Dollars' we had water from the cooler which was nice and cold .Ok the burgers you could spit with someone the fries were good had wolf brand chili on it and it was a boat load .. So if your looking for some different then all the other places that get crazy around here. Check this place out . Out outside setting is great with TV's on sports could see being out here in October watching football and also have a small dining area inside . We went on a sunday right at open time and really, i think it was the best time to go. We were the first to order, there was no line yet. I had issues trying to decide what i wanted. ended up getting the Jalapeño burger. It was so good and had a ton of yummy jalapenos. if you're not a fan of mustard though, ask them to go easy on it because they definitely put a bunch on it. The peanut butter and jelly sliders were so tasty. I was worried it would be too sweet but they were just perfect. The bun on it was nice and toasted, it was so good. The portion of the fries was tiny but the burgers are so big that it really didn't matter. The hell fries are amazing too. I just wish I had more. Now the selection of beer is really great. Lots of local made beers like real ale and st. Arnolds. They are mostly in can but they did have some bottles too. No beer on tap but that was ok, the selection of cans made it alright. I really enjoy this establishment, everything was great. Support local, yall.

I can't say enough good things about this place. Burgers are excellent. Very happy to have FRESH ingredients for a change. Atmosphere is awesome, staff is friendly and helpful. The only negative thing is when I eat there for lunch, I'm so full I can't come back for dinner. Glad to have it close to home!

Awesome jalapeño burger! Spicy but not too spicy. Not greasy at all. I also had chili cheese fries which were good but I should have not ordered because I could not eat it since the Burger was so huge!

I really like the Hubcap in the Heights and was excited when I learned they were building one on my parents' side of town. My parents are hamburger lovers and I really wanted them to try Hubcap. This was probably the first burger place I ate at that has the super unique burgers (Cheetos, peanut butter, bananas, etc.). I love all the options! Here are my thoughts on the burgers I've tried: * My favorite is the Black and Blue - blue cheese and bacon perfection! * The Muffaleta is also good (if you like olives). * The Ranch BLT is a more basic option. * I did once try the Cheeto burger, as Cheetos and cheese sauce are two of my most passionate loves, but I wasn't that impressed. * The Frito Pie burger is MESSY and DELICIOUS. Hubcap's fries are twice fried and are super tasty. Lots of outdoor seating, but there is indoor, if needed. Service is always great. This location seemed less rustic/dumpy than the Heights location, but I still think I prefer that location for various reasons. But this is a nice options when I'm dining with my parents!

Located a few streets away from the Kemah Boardwalk, its quite and off the beaten path. The burgers are quite good. Served on a toasted bun, it is layered with a large beef patty and piled high with fresh, hot ingredients. In my case, it was piled with swiss cheese and mushrooms... So good! Also, the Greek fries are to die for. French fries covered in hubcap sauce and feta cheese. I have no idea what is in the hubcap sauce, but its absolutely delicious. The Greek fries alone are a whole reason to come back. Yum!

Really looked forward to going here because Tookies, while having pretty good burgers, has frozen fries. And i just can't go for that. Even fast food chain In & Out has fresh fries!! The Very Good Hubcap Grill has a great selection of burgers. Nice, large, never frozen meat too. I love that everything they have is clearly stated as "never frozen". And their fries are fresh and awesome. We've already been twice now. The place itself is downright cool too. The Just OK The burgers were overcooked - i mean well-done plus. So the second time I made it clear i wanted mine cooked "medium rare" and my daughter wanted "medium". I saw the lady write this down and highlight it. Both burgers came out well done. I immediately brought mine back up and asked for another one. My daughter ate hers because she was starving. My second one came out - it was still overcooked, but it was medium, and that was good enough. Having said that, it was delicious!!! I do wish they would season the meat a little more. They seem to rely heavily on the cheese and sauce - kick up the salt and pepper guys. Let people who don't like salt tell you to hold back, don't punish the rest of us. I prefer Hubcap Grill over Tookies now. I think the meat itself is larger, and fresher.

More please. It was my cheat meal day and boy did I ever! Oh. So. Worth. It! Great atmosohere. Super casual and chill. Indoor/outdoor seating available. Go with an appetite. These are Texas - sized burgers!! We ordered the "regular" cheeseburger and my husband and I split it. We each had an order of fries (because I don't share). He had the Greek fries and I the chili cheese (yes, chilli AND cheese)! Holy sheeeet so good!!!! Definitely going back for more!

I was hella excited when I found out that HCG was now open in Kemah !!!!! I found out by accident but sure glad i did !!!! I took my daughters & a few of their friends out to eat after a full day on the boardwalk.. They LOVED their burgers. I had the guacamole Swiss burger ... Great choice suggested by the cashier.! The only down fall is the had ran outa fries .... REALLY?? What kinda burger joint is this ?!?!? So I got the sweet potato fires instead (although I compromised, & they were hella good too , it's still not the same !) I give my burger a 7.5 , but had I had the chilly cheese fries ... My whole meal would have been a ten .. The CCF would've closed the deal ! So since they ran outa fries , I give this place 3 stars. A burger as good as theirs deserves some homemade fresh French fires.... My meal just wasn't complete.

Expensive, exotic burgers that are just okay. Slow, semi arrogant order and pickup clerks. Nice deck. 30 minute wait. 2nd try and last. Too many great places nearby. Imo

  • Sofia R.

We sat on the deck and enjoyed the breeze and lightning storm. And the music was great, too! I ordered the 1/3 lb cheeseburger with mayo, grilled onions and mushrooms... and it was so perfect! This is my new favorite burger joint. Only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars, is because I didn't love the fries. My husband was really happy with his jalapeno burger and the selection of craft beers. We will definitely be back for more!

Nice beer selection with rotating selections. Numerous choices in burgers. The sticky monkey is my favorite. If you are there give it a try you will not regret it. The Hawaiian burger is another good one to try. The regular fries are better than most places speciality fries. Go here over the tourist trap of t bone toms anyday.

Great burgers and the Greek fries were the bomb. I had the bacon cheese burger, my friends tried the muffalata burger and loved it

  • Michael L.

Went once, had the sticky burger. Only because i didn't see the sticky monkey! It was delicious! Who would have thought that a peanut butter and banana burger would be so good? Their house sodas are also delicious, and have a great selection of Texas craft beers. the only issue i have with the place is the outside seating is the place to be, so if its rainy then you are stuck in the dark dingy "inside seating".

Fries were out of this world. We ordered the Buffalo fries & Greek fries. Outstanding! Burgers were so-so. Not very impressed with them which was the reason for our visit. But glad we checked the place out. Deck, music & atmosphere were pretty cool!

Omg!!!!! I came here on a whim because I originally went to Kemah for crawfish. These burgers were incredible!!!! The best burger that I have has since I have been In the Houston area. I got the Philly cheesesteak burger and Texas fries. I was immediately blown away! The fries were out of this world and the burger did not disappoint. Everything was so flavorful, I will definitely be back to this burger gem! Wish they were a little closer, but they do have two locations.

Mushroom swiss burger disaster. The only fun gi in this joint is the cook. Canned mushrooms with fake swiss cheese. The bun was ok but not a standout. The burger was very dry on some parts and deliciously juicy on the others. Skip the hub cap lemonade made with high fructose corn syrup.

We had the Hatch green chile burger and the black & blue burger. We are from New Mexico and the Hatch green chile burger ranks up there with any thing you can get in New Mexico. The Hatch green chile makes these so good! The black & blue burger was to die for. Staff was very friendly and engaging. While we came down for sea food if you need a great burger here is your place."

Wanted to eat somewhere a little away from the boardwalk; I checked yelp and found this place. When you drive up, it seems like a hole in the ground with outdoor seating and maybe 8 tables inside. They primarily have burgers on the menu. Wow! They fall apart and I mean that in a good way. Super soft bread, juicy meat, just delish! Oh and the beer is COLD!

If there is something I know about, it's burgers in the Clear Lake area. I heard about this place from a few friends, saying it was better than most. So I decided to give it a spin. No bad. Actually it is pretty dang good. Combined with the experience from the deck and cold beer, and I would go back. The burgers were very solid. Juicy. Tasty. Large. Fries were very good. Onion rings were so-so. The best part is that they didn't try and create something new. They're not trying to be something other than a good burger joint. Oh, and they didn't "allegedly" use someone else's recipes like another burger joint in the area.

We went on a Saturday late afternoon around 2pm. Great atmosphere. A little small but I like the big deck! Little bit of a wait for our food but we had customized orders. (I got a fried egg on my burger). The beer selection is fantastic! Once we got our food we really enjoyed it. Delicious burger and French fries. Will be going back in the future!

Really cool place. Not a lot of seating inside, so if it is cold, I may not risk it. I had the Philly cheese burger - it was really salty. I love salty food, but this was a little overkill. I tried the fries with country gravy, they were just ok. Overall, really cool place and I would go back. If I returned I would just order the regular burger.

Wow. We have been here a few times since they opened here in Kemah. The burgers have generally been good, but with the experience we had today we will not be back. I had ordered a chili cheeseburger with everything but lettuce & tomato. When I went to the window to pick up our order, I noticed that my chili cheeseburger was lacking both cheese and chili. When I brought this to the attention of the young lady, she, at first, tried to tell me that there WAS chili, pointing to the green chile cheeseburger also in my order. I told her that no, I had ordered a chili cheeseburger in addition to a green chile cheeseburger. She then took the dry hamburger and said (I quote this exactly as it was stated) "I'll take it & throw some sh*t on it.". I was so taken aback by her statement, I just took the burger, complete with the "sh*t" she "threw on it" (still lacking cheese), & went back to my table. Along with the fact that the french fries seemed to have been sitting there for a while before being served to us, and spending $30, we've decided to take our business elsewhere. There are definitely quality control issues going on--from the kitchen to the service in the front. Unacceptable.

This place has ruined me forever. After tasting the sticky monkey burger, I am now hooked on the combination of peanut butter, bananas, cheese, and bacon (and ground beef). It's an improvement on Elvis' favorite sandwich, and that says a lot about the cooking and creativity of this establishment. Great big ol' deck to sit on and enjoy a breeze, and enough beers to find something you'll like. Add to that a rockin' juke box, and baby, you've got yourself a good time!

I went back today with my wife and it was a mistake. It was like it had become a different place. When I placed the order I asked them to put the tomatoes on the side (my wife likes them and I don't.). We've done this hundreds (probably thousands) of times at every other place we've gotten burgers. They refused. I asked them to cut the burger in half. They refused. We ordered fries, *extra crisp* -- they weren't. (I think the request was just ignored.) We ordered a bacon cheeseburger. The meat was ample, but the burgers were pretty much tasteless. They're stingy with their condiments. We were handed two little cups of catchup for the fries. When we asked for salt and pepper (for the tasteless burger) we were given two super tiny tear open containers that have almost nothing in them and I that found almost impossible to manage -- as usual I ended up dumping all the pepper in one spot. We won't be back. ___ We've Eaten Out Every Meal for more than 25 years

Ok so I was skeptical. We got some great burger places in Kemah. Could Hubcap live up to the hype? Yes. Yes it can. I called in an order to go. Hubcap decker with an egg, Texas fries, Guac swiss cheese burger, cheese fries. Went smooth. Got there a few minutes early. Pearl Light beer? Yes I'll have one while I wait damit! Staff was friendly as heck, food was hot and fresh. They did forget the grilled onions on my daughters burger but no biggie. Not sure what the meat they use is but it is some amazing burger. Juicy with a great flavor I have not had in many burgers. It is some special stuff. Fries were so good also. I'm gonna say that this will be # 1 on my go to burger list from now on. I can't wait to try all the other burgers and fries. I really appreciate all the fry options. Don't be in a hurry but if you are call in an order so it will be ready when you get there. Then again with their great beer selection waiting can be a great option also. O and parking is not bad since it is a few blocks from the crappy Kemah Boardwalk

So I heard about this place from a friend. Decided to go on a Tuesday afternoon and check it out. First of all it's a very cool looking place and a real cool vibe. My parents and I take a look at the menu and "Wow" some amazing sounding hamburgers and fries. I had the hatch green chile' burger and my parents had mushroom burgers. Been a Tookie's and Stomps guy for years but after this experience they can close those two places down. Amazing burgers and I now know why they are rated one of the best in Houston. Glad to have you guys in our backyard in Kemah.
