We had our 2nd visit to this restaurant today. We just really like this place. Our server is super great and recommended some great wines for us to try. Service is excellent and food is tasty (you have to like meat). I'm so glad we found this restaurant. Ask for Victor. He is great both times we've been here.

The cuatro leches was amazing. Tres plus dulce de leche. Some sort of Swiss meringue on top that was pure bliss. Great service, they even split a glass of wine for my friend and me when we wanted just a little more. The apps and entrees were excellent although my entree was a bit much for even me (which says something)....It basically was multiple meats covered in cheese and veggies and olives and a bunch of other stuff. As we ate each layer, a new food was discovered. Fries at the bottom. I'll be back for sure but would change my entree selection.

Took a friend here for lunch for her birthday. Cute interior & friendly staff. I had a pisco sour cocktail which I would recommend. We both tried the Executive Lunch and shared empanadas & ceviche, both tasty. Empanadas a little small though. The mahi mahi was good & our desserts nice. I had the Leches and my friend had the Creme Brûlée which I actually liked more. Only thing was when paying for the bill, the waiter mixed up our bill with another table. He got lucky since they were at least the same price. All in all, I think I would come here again since this is still a fairly new place

Food was amazing but the service was terrible. We had the parilla for two and every part was amazing. But don't go if you have plans after or you'll never make it. We sat for 20 minutes waiting for change.

Awesome experience all around tonight. Great food, drinks, and service. Tuna tartare was the highlight appetizer, followed by the cannelloni camerones and filet, both of which were excellent. We will definitely be back - our new favorite spot in the City Centre area!

I went to this place for lunch yesterday and the food was delicious! It is very affordable and the quality is amazing. The executive menu for lunch is $21 and include 3 course meal. I got the empanadas as appetizer, Punta as main course and Trio as dessert (cuatro leches, rice pudding and fruit salad). Everything was cooked to perfection and the presentation impeccable. Service is really good too. Very attentive and cordial. I'll be back for sure

Went to this place yesterday. We started off with empanadas. They were ok. For the main course I had the lamb which needed serious seasoning. My wife had the pasta with aji which was very underseasoned as well. It tasted like pasta with lots of butter and some garlic-not good. Overall, the food we had was not worth our time. At least the place was clean and the service pleasant.

We went here for a holiday work lunch and loved it! There were five of us and we all sampled everything on the table. Will definitely be going back.

Love!!! Been to many a steak place and this one is up there at the top! Food was phenomenal from appetizers to steaks, but what won me over was the service. Constant interaction (In the best, most fun way) with the manager, chef, waiter, and back waiters. NEVER had to wait to ask for a thing and EVERYONE knew what they were doing. All knew the menu and wine list, when we needed new silverware, when to suggest, when to back off while we were in conversation....the regular stuff I've come to truly appreciate these days bc it's become so rare. Empanadas, smoked provolone, dry aged bone in ribeye, spinach, potatoes....all delicious. Go!!

This was our second visit. First visit featured good and interesting food but only OK service. This is an expensive restaurant so 'OK' service is not good. This evening we never got to the food. Service was terrible so we just left.

Can't go wrong with the "Executive Lunch" at this place. $22 includes three course meal including app., entree and dessert. Limited app selection but wide range of entrees from steak, chicken and fish with a South American theme. Excellent portions and every dish I have had was on point. Desserts are perfect size and nice variety flan, tres leches, etc... Good food for the value. The service and food are top notch. Next time I go I going for the tomahawk cut steak. Seeing that large humongous piece of meat made me think of Fred Flintstone driving with the rack of ribs in the trunk of his ride. Does anybody memba that????

I've been here twice so far and I absolutely love coming here the waiters are all really welcoming and friendly and will chat up with you. The wagu steak is my favorite and the Bronzino. The chips are delicious as well as the plantains and the ceviche. I like how before you order, they go over the different kind of steaks, the cuts, where they're from, the fat. The dessert is great too. Coming again soon for sure!

Went for the first time and I would love to return. First of all, Excellent food and Excellent service by Victor!!!! wife had the chicken with veggies and was good. The meat was really tender and juicy, tried the Lamb for the first time and really enjoyed. Finally, the Creme brûlée was fantastic.

Wife and I went to this place for the first time. I played it safe and ordered picanha. It was very good. Nice and tender. The rice and beans were excellent as well. My wife had a pasta dish with shrimp. It was out of this world good. One of the best things I've ever tasted. Drinks were good. Presentation was excellent. The service was pretty good, and most importantly, the price was excellent. Our entrees were each under $25 and looked at tasted like the kind of dishes you would pay $50 for at certain places in town. We will definitely be back.

I feel bad giving them a three star review. The restaurant is beautiful inside and the servers are very nice. The ceviche was great! Not a huge portion but extremely tasty. I'm not sure if it was because the World Cup game was on but the service was very slow! After my initial glass of sangria, I was never offered another one. We ended up leaving after the first half of the soccer game and it took forever to get our check. I'm willing to try this place again since the food looks amazing. Hopefully the service is a little quicker next time.

It's a nightmare of a location for an inner looper, but boy oh boy is it worth the hassle. Everything from the decor and noise level, the owners and wait staff, food and wine list is just terrific. I don't know how the owners enticed the most professionally trained staff in town, but I am glad to have made their acquaintance. Yes, the food is very well seasoned, fresh and cooked to perfection. I'm enjoying leftovers today! There are so many interesting dishes on the menu that can't help but call for a reservation soon to try some of the other dishes.

Great food, great service, the waiter brought us a selection of premium steaks that werent on the menu, we choose the Toma Howk (top left of the pic) and it was a bit expensive ($140) but it was definitely worth it. I would really recommend this place.

If I could I would rate this place with 3 and a half stars. I came here with a party for HRW but again i ended up ordering off the regular menu. We had the fried plantain chips and chimichurri to start off with. They were really good however we only had two for our table of 14 and they were pretty slow at refilling it. The lamb appetizer and the tuna tartare were really good but I didn't really like the salmon carpaccio and prime pork lollichop. The salon carpaccio was just some thinly sliced salon with a bunch of vegetables on it that I didn't feel like matched in taste and the pork lollichop was dry. The ceviche off the HRW menu though was a very large portion and pretty good. For our entree we ordered the "2 person" Parrilla which was a 72 dollar huge platter of different grilled meats. I don't know the size of the two ppl this was intended to feed but in my opinion it should be split with 3 or 4 people. My favorites of this were the lambchop, the beef rib and the incredibly moist chicken. I usually am really hesitant to eat chicken because I just prefer red meat more and I refuse to eat dry chicken but this chicken was so so moist. The roasted corn it came with was really good as well. We didn't order any dessert for ourselves because we were so stuffed but we had bites of other people's desserts and I wasn't that impressed. They were all a little too sweet for me and nothing special.

Came here for the executive lunch with my department and was impressed with the food and the service of this place. First off, $22 for 3 course meal? What a steal. And I'm talking about actual 3 courses (I'm sorry but house salad isn't count as one course). Our company reserved the private room in the back and pre-ordered our choices of the executive lunch. Service and staff are great! Love the atmosphere here. Parking can be tough in city center but it's not the restaurant's fault. My favorite part of this place is their food options for the lunch menu. My three courses were: Empanadas (beef and spinach)- 4/5: the spinach one is my favorite. Love the subtle curry taste. The beef one was a bit dry. Still good but I would settle for two spinach next time Puntas de Tenderloin- (4/5) def tastes better than it looks. The sauce/topping it came with just elevated the whole dish. The meat was of course very tender. Crème brulé (5/5)- yummy!!! Not too sweet and just full of goodness. Definitely would come back here for lunch again

This place is pretty tasty. We were actually planning on going to a different Argentinian restaurant but due to timing issues, we decided to try this place. None of us were disappointed. Everyone was very happy with their selection. I ordered the pasta (Argentina has a heavy European influence on it's food) and it was great. The pasta is handmade which you can definitely tell. The meat selection is large and the staff is very knowledgeable about it. I was impressed with how helpful our waiter was. The kitchen is out in the open, so you can see them cooking your food. Not only is this kinda cool in general, but you know that they aren't doing anything gross or weird behind the scene.

My new favorite place in Houston. Sure, the prices are high, the parking sucks, and the 'new urbanist/Agenda 21' high density minimall (with parking meters on its private lanes) that surrounds Sal Y Pimienta is all very, very craptastic. But there is, of course, valet parking nearby (at a price - but this IS the 'burbs of Houston y'all). Forget the obnoxiousness of Sal's environs and give the restaurant the chance it deserves. But the food. Oh the food. I don't normally rave about grilled chicken - but Sal's wood burning grill is hot enough to sear in the juice and give it some flava. The Caprese salad was almost as beautiful as something the Adria boys might have served at elbulli in Spain - a beautifully composed creation of the freshest ingredients. The chef/owner is in the kitchen and makes sure that the food that comes out is top notch. I'll definitely be back to try some steak soon. Highest recommendation.

I was walking across this place one day and saw this restaurant. It's kind of hidden, but it is located next to The Tasting Room! They had a poster with big, bold font saying "Executive Lunch Menu $22", so my friend and I went in after a bit of shopping in City Centre. You get an appetizer, entree, and dessert... Don't pass on it! The lunch menu was fantastic, lots of choices for entrees. I think there were 13 to choose from. There were probably about 5 selections for appetizers and 6 for dessert. They give you complimentary house made chips and corn bread(?) with chimichurri. The chips were too salty in my opinion.. Didn't eat much of this. I didn't try the bread either. It looked like corn bread but not sure exactly what. We both ordered Empanadas Argentina for our starters. You can pick 2 from Beef, Chicken, Ham & Cheese, Spinach, and Cream Corn. We both ended up with Spinach (4/5) and Cream Corn (4/5). They were delicious with the green sauce it came with.. I believe it was creamy pesto sauce. Delicious. I highly recommend the cream corn empanada, but they were both great. If you order two different kinds of empanadas, you'll notice a distinct pattern between the two. For entrees: My friend ordered Puntas de Tenderloin. It comes with beef tenderloin tips served with tempura mushrooms and basmatic rice. She finished her plate clean. I ordered the Veal Marsala (3/5): Veal scallopini in a Marsala wine reduction served with mashed potatoes. I wished they gave more sauce or something because once I finished the sauce, I couldn't eat the mashed potatoes or veal alone. Veal was more on the salty side, and plain, dry mashed potatoes doesn't cut it for me. There was a tomato that I ate with the veal once that made the meal taste better. Point is, something was lacking. I ended up taking half of the veal home and added some sauce concoction for dinner. Otherwise, nothing memorable from this entree. For dessert: We ordered Flan (3/5) and Ensalada de Frutas (4/5). It was my first time trying flan.. I enjoyed it more alone than eating it with the dulce de leche it was sitting on. Flan was the perfect level of sweet for me. My friend liked it too. Ensalada de Frutas, fresh fruit!! It was served with orange juice with fruits in a martini glass. Both had good presentation. Their wine menu was decent. We asked for a wine pairing, but our waiter didn't know and recommended white wine. We ended up with an Uruguayan wine, which was too sweet in my opinion. Overall, okay service.. They got more slow at the end. I would recommend this place for their 3 course lunch due to the variety.

Had a late lunch with my husband 8 yr old son and sister n law. We had the chicken empanadas to start, mango salad which we all shared and they were very accommodating even though they did not have a kids menu they offered to make him a pizza! So he got a pizza that was way too big but he enjoyed it. All of our food was delicious. We had the pollo a la palta (grill chicken on a avocado mousse,)the short rib tortellini and the, silpancho. Very tasty. The host (not sure if it was the manager) of the evening was actually the one taking our order. The waiter seemed a little lost and just disappeared. I asked him for lemon 3 times and he would smile And say (ah yes!) and still forgot. I had a wonderful cucumber margarita cocktail I can't even remember what it was called but very refreshing and yummy. I would of liked better service from our waiter as it seemed he just forgot about us. But everyone else was very helpful and service was fast.

I had high hopes for this place and it really wasn't anything too great. There are small South American cuisine restaurants that are less expensive, less pop but the food is better. The experience is worthwhile. We came without reservations and was told we can only sit at the bar. Turns out that's the beat seat in the house. The restaurant features an open kitchen so when you sit at the bar, you look directly into the kitchen. And I don't mean, looking through a glass, it's completely open. This was the best part. You were able to see the line cooks plating the food, the chefs cooking, the host who was also expediting the food. It is a small kitchen and small restaurant so you can see it all. If you ever watched Too Chef Restaurant Wars, it felt like a love version of that with less chaos of course. It was fantastic! The service was hella slow. They seated us immediately. We got water and chips and chimichurri quickly. But we had no menus. It took them a good solid 15 minutes to get menus. Then it took another 15-20 minutes to take our order for the drinks. Then another 15 minutes to take our order for our food. It's very slow service. They were trying their best because it was packed but they need to find a better system. We had the pisco punch and caipimorango drinks. The pisco punch was very good. The other was okay. For starters we order the veal tongue. It had way too much vinegar that the fish was sour like a jarhead candy. I wish they didn shower the veal tongue in the dressing. It took away from the flavor of the tongue. For our meal we had the parillada that comes with a bunch of meat and sausage. We asked to replace the chicken breast with the cut of picanha. The meat was okay. I was really disappointed by the cut if picanha It's not what I'm used to. I asked and they said they cut it like a New York strip to take most of the fat off. In Brazilian restaurants, the picanha has a lovely fat border. The parillada came with a pepper stuffed with an egg. It looked overcooked on top but it was completely raw. It was all liquid under the layer of overcooked egg. I took the tres leches to go. It was okay. Churrascos has the better tres leches.

Perhaps my taste buds were not enough to give this place five stars, but for some reason I kept thinking if this place is "Sal y Pimienta", where exactly is the salt and pepper in their food?? I was very underwhelmed with their calamari. It was so small and the crispness they I look forward to was not there. The squid was also very chewy. I didn't finish it, so they should tell you something. There were empanadas ordered by our party, and they were eaten quickly and had good reviews, so they may be worth going back for. My entree, otherwise simply known as the seafood kebab with creamy pesto sauce, was okay in texture and how it was prepared, but again just lacking in seasoning. The steaks that were ordered by my party were a little on the tough side, and again, in my opinion, lacking SALT and PEPPER. The desserts, on the other hand, were the exact opposite, very sweet, and border-line over powering for those that are not dulce de leche lovers. But for those that are, you will be in for a treat. Order the dulce de leche crepes. They were a great balance and it was a nice close to our meal. Will I come back? Of course. There were way too many other things in the menu that were worth trying but I couldn't eat everything at once. So in short, don't order the calamari, bring salt and pepper, and get the dulce de leche crepes!

After a successful 10K at the ConocoPhillips Rodeo Run, my family and I decided to have lunch here at the suggestion of my cousin. I was impressed as I was perusing their menu because they have such a wide variety of cuisine from South America. To start they brought out a basket of warm bread and chimichurri sauce and both were sooo good! I couldn't get enough of the sauce! I would suggest though when you have four guests to a table you should bring out two plates of the sauce versus just one. Let's start with the waiter. Although pleasant he had a hard time understanding each of our orders, and so we had to repeat it a few times before he got it right. I ordered the Chivito al Pan (authentic Paraguay steak sandwich) which I thought the bread to filling ratio was not proportionate - way too much bread. My cousin ordered an omelette and was very specific in what she did not want in it, and they brought it out with everything she asked not to be put in it! Needless to say she was not a happy camper and had it taken back and asked that they not re-do it. She had lost her appetite by this point. They did rectify the situation by re-making her entree and put it to go. For the type of food they offer I think the items are overpriced. I know of several other places where the menus offer authentic entrees for half the price.

Summary- South American steakhouse delivers some great flavors and steaks in a loud smallish dining room. There was nice private room that looked quieter. Food- 5 Stars Great cheese and meat plate (La Tablita) with a wide range of wonderful hams. They had veal cheeks on microgreens when we went that were spectacular. Empanadas that we got were also delicious. The steak I got was a butterflied grass fed tenderloin (Bife De Lomo), it was excellent. Tender with great flavor and perfectly cooked over real wood. Grass fed can be finicky because it's lean but they did a fantastic job with it. Everyone at the table thoroughly enjoyed their meals. A few people had the Asado de Tira and loved it. Service- 3 Stars We waited a good bit longer than quoted, apologies were given. Because it was so loud in the restaurant and our server had a heavy accent it was nearly impossible to understand him. There was this whole dramatic run down of their al a carte steak menu which I entirely missed (although they were also rather expensive- I think). Otherwise the service was pretty darn good. Drinks- 4 Stars I liked their wine menu and the bar drinks were pretty good too. Atmosphere- 3 Stars I really liked the inside, but it was really loud at times, especially being seated in the middle. Value- 4 Stars I thought it was worth every penny.

They claimed that they only used sugar and eggs for the buttercream. They must have added magic and not telling us. The dining experience was amazing, with a very reasonable price tag for the quality of the food and service. My friend and I chose to share an array of appetizers instead of ordering main course. This would be a great choice for those who wants to sample more dishes.

I came here for an after conference dinner and was pleasantly surprised. This is not your typical South American cuisine that you find here in Houston. I believe because it has a Uruguay themed-menu, instead of the usual Peruvian or Argentinian restaurants you so often see here in Houston. They closed the entire restaurant for the dinner party on this evening, which included about 80 people. With so many people stuffed into the dining room, which has an open kitchen, the restaurant was overly loud and I could barely hear other people from down the table speaking. The dinner consisted of a 4-course meal; however, the first course (appetizers) was brought to the table family-style so that everyone could sample them. They consisted of the empanadas, crab fingers, sausage plate and ceviche. The standouts for me were the crab fingers and ceviche. Crab fingers were small and did not have a smoky taste as the menu suggested. Ceviche was fairly one-dimensional and not the best I've ever had. It contained 2 shrimp and the rest was just sole, avocado slices, or red onions basically. A few pieces of the sole were tough, maybe they had been soaking in lemon juice too long, who knows. The 2nd course consisted of a soup or salad, I chose the Caesar salad and it was just ok. Pretty basic indeed. Others at my table ordered the mushroom and spinach soup and really liked it, although the serving size was quite small when compared to the huge bowl they serve it in. The main course was a choice of an 8oz filet mignon with sides, a red snapper with a side or a lamb rack with sides. I chose the filet as did about half of my table and it had a nice charbroiled flavor. It was also cooked almost perfectly, as I had requested. The mashed potatoes and asparagus that it came with were also pretty good too. The final course consisted of a dessert of your choice: 4 leches, a chocolate cake, bread pudding or homemade ice cream layer cake. I went with the 4 leches but also tried some of the ice cream cake and the chocolate cake. I actually liked the ice cream layered dish better than the soggy 4 leches. I did not really enjoy the chocolate cake which was supposedly made with an orange reduction, but I tasted more of a raspberry sauce on the top. Overall, the customer service was great and the wine kept flowing freely, so much by the end everyone had to just wave off the sommeliers. Although the items on this special menu were limited from what the restaurant typically serves during a dinner service, I'd love to come back again to try one of their signature dishes, like the Milanesa. NOTE: If you like a spicy sauce to dip your meat in, just ask for the habanero sauce. It has a great flavor and of course a little kick to it.

Mediocre Latin Cuisine. Nothing really unique. Typical Spanish Argentian/Brasilian fare. Nice decor and set up. The have a couple Brasilian Beers on Draft which is unique.

Came with my mother for a ladies who lunch and was impressed. The bread, chips and chimichurri sauce were on point. The empanadas (beef) and ceviche were delish. The green sauce (cilantro) with the empanadas was addicting. The meat was high quality and cooked to perfection. They have a Malbec rose by the glass ($11) and it was worth it. Our waiter was attentive and the decor was nicely done. I highly recommend coming during lunch and getting the executive lunch (3 course for $22) if you have a week day off. Completely full but we are waiting on our dessert (dulce de leche cheesecake and cuatro leche) with much anticipation.

I saw that this was a newly opened restaurant in the CityCentre, and it had gotten pretty good reviews so I thought I'd give it a try. We came for lunch and luckily had gotten there a bit early since the restaurant isn't that big because it became pretty full soon after. We shared the executive lunch: house salad, mahi mahi, and the dulce de leche creme brûlée!! The service was pretty good. The manager wanted to make sure that we enjoyed our cocktails and offered to exchange it for something different if we didn't like them. Also since we were sharing dishes, they split each dish (except the creme brûlée, of course) for us with each plate neatly decorated and portioned equally. Usually, I expect a charge for this service or for them to bring out 2 empty plates for us to split it on our own. Not the case here. Overall, I thought the lunch was pretty good, especially the dulce de leche creme brûlée. I highly recommend that dessert option since you normally don't find that flavor elsewhere.

Very good Argentinian / Uruguayan steakhouse. Came with coworkers for a dinner, manager was very kind and entertaining. Complimentary deep fried chips and bread to start. We ordered a Uruguayan tenderloin to share - 24 oz) which was sliced at our table, and several appetizers. Dimly lit ambiance, not a bad date spot. Pricing was on the higher end. And ambiance wasn't necessarily memorable in of it self, otherwise would be a 5 star candidate Smart casual with more beautiful people than I'm usually accustomed to seeing here.

Came without a reservation and were told that all the tables were reserved. We almost walked out and went somewhere else, but the manager must have really wanted our business because right after we walked out he came and told us that someone had just cancelled. We ended up staying and having a nice meal. The one thing I was not aware of is that many of the meats in Argentinian cuisine are spiced but there is no sauce, so being used to putting hot sauce on everything in Texas, this was a bit weird. I had the butterflied pork tenderloin and it was well seasoned and the potatoes were very good. The waitstaff was very attentive and knowledgeable, which I greatly appreciate. Contrary to other reviewers, I don't think the service was slow. Yes it did take a while for us to get our food, that is understandable given the quality of the meats that are prepared to order.

Impressive cuts of grass fed beef. The waiter brings a cutting board to show you the different cuts available. We decided on the mixed grill: chorizo, lamb, flank steak, chicken, pork tenderloin, short ribs and sweet breads nicely grilled and flavorful. It's meant for 2 people but 3-4 could eat well. They were kind enough to let us substitute the blood sausage. There was grilled corn and a green bell pepper with an egg over easy inside and served with Russian salad (potato salad) and steak fries. They offer empanadas, ceviche , fish and assorted grilled meats. Nice ambiance, a bar area and wine room, outside seating. Attentive waiter and busboy. Overall a very nice experience.

My daughters brought me here for my birthday a couple of months ago. I had been wanting to try this place out since Restaurant Week. Our waiter was a very sweet and knowlegeable gentlemen that made some great suggestions, although we did summize that he might be slightly hearing impaired. We started out with the Crab Fingerlings (which I don't see it on the menu anymore, but it was delicious) and the Lamb Lolichops (I understand being a purist regarding your meats, but it was bland). We then had the Pasta al Aji, the Pork Chop, and another pasta dish with three different sauces. Everything was good, but my girls definitely enjoyed the pork chop more than I did. Again it was a little bland. And it's not that I have some disgusting desire to lick a salt rock, but I do appreciate flavor. Would I come again. Sure. This is one of those places that I want to try a second to draw my final conclusion. The service, ambiance, cocktails and some dishes were excellent. Will come back soon for their Executive lunc.

As an Argentinean I think this is the best place to have barbacue "parrillada" in Houston, Argentinean style. I have come here several times with friends and all of them loved it! The empanadas are great and the parillada for 1 is enough to share and eat 2. They have good options of wine too.

This isn't really my taste and there isn't much I would ever even try on the menu. But I went because I knew my hubby wanted to go! The ambience was quite nice, a little crowded though. I ordered the mango salad. The presentation was good and it tasted good. My hubby also liked his dish. The price point was fair. The staff there all were nice and helpful. I have a little baby and nobody seemed annoyed by her grabbing and spilling at things. :) Although they accept kids - I didn't find it child friendly as there were no change tables and it was crowded. I'd recommend it even if personally I wasn't partial to the menu...

Who the freak knew this place was here? I've been to the tasting room next door more times than I can shake a stick at and never noticed Sal Y Pimienta. If you're into expensive slabs of tasty meat, you've hit the jackpot. They bring out a huge board full of different cuts to every table in case you would prefer that over what's on the menu. It ranges from a tenderloin filet, to kobe ribeyes, bone in...etc Here's what our table decided on: Lengua a la Vinagretta-hmmmm this was ok. Maybe veal tongue is different in texture/flavor than cow tongue bc I am a fan of the latter Ribeye-so tender I cut it with my butter knife Caprese & Crab Meat-LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED IT!!! I want more right now! Branzino a la Sal-It was ok. I actually liked the rice better than my fish bc it was too overcooked for me. Pasta al Aji-didn't try this, but my friend seemed to enjoy it. Crème Brulee-good, but not your typical creme brulee. Imagine if creme brulee and flan had a baby Pasion de Chocolate-pretty good. I'm usually not one to like fruit in my chocolate cake, but it was moist and flavorful. In my opinion, toning down the lighting might help make the ambience more inviting. Other than that, solid restaurant and I will be back.

Shared Niman Farm dry-aged tomahawk. Perfection, really, also amazing flaming peppers side. Fantastic wines and cocktails. Excellent service. Really aim to please. We sat at counter and watched all the grilling. Offer grass fed beef, waygu and other fresh meat options. Good for us who are trying to eat clean, not necessarily lean. My new favorite place.

That is a cool place. A little fancy, reminds me of the south american steak houses from Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay. It is not going to be fast, so enjoy your time. Order the Empanadas.

I am so glad my boyfriend and I tried this place for Houston Restaurant Weeks! We got to try so many different items and the quality was amazing. I had the entrada steak and my boyfriend had the Mahi Mahi. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals! We were so full but made room to try the desserts. Our favorite was the creme brûlée. So good! We can't wait to come here for brunch and try out their unlimited mimosas. The service could use some improvements... Our waiter wasn't super attentive but we weren't completely neglected so I'd give it a 3 star for service. Having a reservation was good since the space is kind of small. I will definitely be returning!

Wonderful service, server made this experience absolutely worth it! Food above average - best to go with their meat selection off menu! Kids enjoyed too.

Nice atmosphere. Fairly small restaurant with open plan kitchen that opens right onto the restaurant. This really adds to the experience. Would be good to sit at the bar overlooking the kitchen. Fairly expensive, but good quality. Lunch menu at $22 for three courses is good value, but we ordered a la carte.

If the service when paying wasn't as horrid and the if waiter had more manners and common sense, I would've given this restaurant 5 stars. First time with a group of 20. I had the rack of lamb. It wasn't out of this world, but I love lamb so i enjoyed it none the less. They forgot to include the mint jelly with my plate. If i wouldn't had asked for it, they wouldn't had brought it out. My second time there was with my boyfriend. We had made reservations but we waited over 30 minutes at the bar. To compensate, the manager brought us two appetizers calamari and empanadas. They were both delicious and definitely put a smile on our faces. We ordered the Parrillada and it was definitely too much meat for just the two of us. We asked the waiter to pair a wine for us, and he obviously hadn't taken the 101 wine class. The young Hispanic waiter didn't know enough about wine to make any suggestions, although he did and failed. I would prefer for a waiter that knows about wine to make suggestions than waiter to pretend and fail. The chicken was surprisingly moist and my favorite amongst the rest of the meat. The blood sausage was our least favorite. For dessert we ordered the chocolate cake. It was moist and I loved the hint of orange taste. My third time there I took my family of 7 that were visiting from California. It was a Monday and we all ordered from the Three Course $35 menu. For appetizer we ordered empanadas and calamari, they all loved it, the empanadas especially. For our entrees we ordered Pasta Con Camarones al Ajillo, better than expected. If you love garlic, you will love this dish. Would've loved for the shrimp to have been grilled. We also had Puntas de Tenderloin and OMG! This was so good. I'm not a fan of well cooked meat but my aunts are. I tried their well done meat and it was not dry at all and very tender. I could only imagine how it would've tasted like if it was medium rare, yum! We also had the Mahi Mahi, that was very delicious as well. Great flavor and perfectly seasoned. I've read many reviews and a lot of people complain about the lack of seasoning; we didn't have that issue. For dessert we had Cream Brulee, Cuatro leches, and Pasión de Chocolate. My favorite was the Cream Brulee, the best I've ate ever! They all enjoyed the others but I thought the cuarto leches was too sweet.

The food and service were fantastic. Our visit started at the bar where the bartender was nice enough to let us sample most of the beers before selecting one. The waiter was courteous and friendly, he even put up with me trying to speak Spanish all night. ¡Yo volveré!

What an excellent surprise! We weren't planning on going here, but when we walked by it looked inviting. Everything was perfect. The service was great and the food was delicious. Will come back here for sure.

I've been here twice so far, once with my fiancé and once with a girlfriend and both times I was extremely impressed. If you like lamb the 'el corderito' (rack of lamb) is AMAZING. The second time I ordered the red snapper which was great as well. Both times I made reservations online which is always convenient and there's valet parking outside the restaurant. They also have two rooms for special events, one is a small wine room which would be perfect for a small, intimate dinner and the other is larger and would be perfect for a company happy hour or dinner. I love city center and go for lunch frequently, but I would have to say this is my favorite restaurant for dinner. I absolutely recommend trying sal Y pimiento out if you haven't already!

The restaurant is just across the street of the theater, close to the street, so you can just parallel park on the street if you happen to find a parking spot there. Missed our reservation at 8 at the restaurant was absolutely packed with nobody seemed to just about finished with their food. Waited in the bar area and the waiter brought us water. After 30-45 minutes they finally managed to seat us and they surprised us by giving a complimentary calamari appetizer - it was perfectly fried and the batter was so crunchy. After that came the complimentary bread and plantain chips, which was perfectly crispy as well. My party ordered the veal tongue vinaigrette and empanadas (ham and cheese + cream corn). The empanadas by far the best I've ever tried in Houston, sooo crispy on the outside. I was about to order Bolivian milanesa after looking at the menu; but while waiting for the appetizers to come by, the waiter brought the tray full of the fresh cut meat of the day. I had my eyes on the buffalo rib eye while my friends ordered the wagyu tomahawk. I think the concept of bringing the meat for the costumer to look and be able to ask the price directly is great, eliminate questions about market price or how the meat will look like. The steaks came with asparagus and mashed potato, but the waiter also offered us to flambe red pepper, jalapeno, and onion after confirming that we were able to eat spicy food - this side is the best thing ever to come out with a steak! Every steakhouse should offer this, the spiciness becomes mild because of the meat and it definitely add flavors to the meat. Both steaks came perfectly cooked and they are great. Service was very attentive even when the place was packed to every chair available. My only complain was that the tables were so closed to each other and there was not much walkway, it just looked and felt cramped when the restaurant was full.

Awesome food, great service, we had the 3 course menu for the Houston restaurant week, everything was delicious (till beginning of September) We made a reservation for 9:15 pm, the place was still very crowded and we got our table 15 min late... which was OK.. But they offered us a free drink to apologize, it definitely convinced us we will come back!

We dined here Friday night. The service was good and our waiter was knowledgeable about the wines on offer. The menu was not very inspiring for someone who likes to eat healthy, good tasting food. Nor was it easy to understand if one is not familiar with South American cuisine. We asked our waiter questions about specific dishes but he said he didn't recommend them and instead he tried to up sale us to the 'off menu' platter of raw meat (from which you choose a piece then a similar fresh piece is cooked to your specifications). We passed. I ordered fish which was basically a long, thin fried filet -o- fish. It was served with a creamy potato salad with a side of creamy dressing and a small salad. My husband was equally not enamored of his dish - Chevito de Lomo al Plato. The herbed oil, bread and housemate potato chips were delicious.

Ok, so a small group of us went into the bar late Monday night around 9:30 for a glass of wine and some light appetizers. There were a few people still there eating/talking, we were treated great by the bar tender and the GM. Good food, great wine, big pours, really nice. The next day was my birthday, so my wife and I went in and sat at the counter, overlooking the cooks. These cooks are experts, a meat specialist, a veggie specialist, a desert person, they were really good. AND, they use real wood to grill the meat. That would never happen back home in California.... Food was excellent, nice grill marks, not salty, great smokey flavors, loved it. They served some "Quad-Letche" desert, I don't eat desert, but my wife does, and she said it was awesome. I like specialty restaurants, that don't serve the masses, have really good food and wine. This place checks all the boxes, these guys are awesome. When we are back in Houston, we will definitely be back there.

Stopped in for a late dinner after work -- they were still in their first week business. Started off with a draft beer--still can't remember the name--it was an Italian lager, not Peroni, but absolutely fabulous. Waiter Sal, was the BEST waiter I've ever had. Very professional, very thorough, very attentive, and most importantly very knowledgeable about their wines. Figured if this was a "meat" place, I'd try a skirt steak. If you can make that well you can just about do anything. The skirt steak I had was out of this world--like eating a filet it was so tender. I had finished my beer about the time the meat was served and was ready for some red wine after my first bite of the steak. Sal recommended a Malbec which was absolute exquisite. It was already late so I didn't stay for dessert, but this was the most delightful meal I've had in a long time. This may become a very expensive habit since I work in the same building. Well done Sal Y Pimienta!!

Loved this place, great vibe, service and even better food. I didn't know what to expect because I heard it was similar to Tengo Malbec and I'm not a huge fan of that spot. First time I had one of the Milanesa's and it was fantastic, but this past weekend I had the snapper which may even be better than some I have had at seafood centered fine dining spots. Definitely worth checking out.

In a city with a tradition of having mediocre South American restaurants, I was hoping for something different with this place, especially after the raving reviews. I was very disappointed with this place. The food was ok, but the service was very lousy. Extremely disorganized. We waited forever for everything: drinks, appetizers, main course, desert, even the check. Very tight spaces. Waiters walk around the tables constantly with the big trays over one's head; it feels like the food or drinks are going to fall on you at any moment. They seem to care more for big groups and the large tables; very little attention appears to be given to small tables. Keeping with the tradition of other South American restaurant in Houston, this is another pricey restaurant with little portions.

Ceviche Ceviche yes please I will take seconds! Loved the freshness and flavor of the jalapeño lime sauce. They were very generous with their portions to top it. I have to say by far it's the best ceviche I've had in Houston so far. We ordered the chicken, ham and cheese empanadas...that tasted delicious as well. My friend and I decided to share our dinner, was impressed when Ruben (our waiter) brought out our dishes perfectly split and well presented I couldn't wait to dig in. However my first bite the meat was tough. We ordered medium but it came out rare. Ruben was nice enough to have re-cooked. He brought it out the second time and it was much better. Now that I've read all the great reviews on dulce de leche and creme brûlée wish I made room for dessert! Oh well always next time.

Absolutely wonderful. Today, I decided to try this place out for HRW, and it was a great experience. The orange decor was very modern and up-to-date. Our server was very helpful and polite. He was quick and very attentive. My water glass was never empty. I started out with the Ceviche, a classic. The flounder and shrimp were very fresh, and the onions added a very nice kick to the spiciness of the jalapeno lime sauce. It came with avocado slices, and it blended very well, sort of like a neutralizer. Next I had the Picanha Steak that was served with a side of rice topped with beans. The steak came out medium rare, just like I ordered, and it was very delicious. I'm usually not a big fan of beans, so I avoided that, but the rice under was so flavorful. It kind of just melted in my mouth. Last but not least, I had the Pasion de Chocolate for dessert. As I expected, it was amazing. The blend had the perfect texture, and it was not too sweet. What I loved the most was the chocolate mousse in the middle layer. My god, I will be back again. What a lovely restaurant.

Great food and excellent service! Everything was amazing, we ordered the ceviche, tuna and provoleta as appetizers and they were delicious. The ceviche and the tuna were so fresh and the combination of flavors was excellent! We ordered a 24oz filet mignon on the grill and the branzino to share. It came with 2 sides (we chose mushrooms and mashed potatoes) both were really good and both the flet and the fish were incredible! Our waiters were so nice and they were constantly making sure we had everything we needed. The place is really nice and cozy and we loved the open kitchen. A must go!!

Very popular with the nationals. But I don't have to be from Argentina to recognize marginal food. Strengths are service and appetizers. Everything else you will quickly forget about.

I had dinner here on Wednesday. I thought it has promise but a number of issues. First, half of the air conditioning was out of service. This made the temperature very uncomfortable. No additional fans were brought in and no offer of any free cold beverage was made. Indeed our water was rarely refilled. Service was spotty; we wanted our check (due to the heat) and it took a very long time to get it. Food was also uneven. The complimentary bread and chip basket, which came with a chimichurri type dip, was great. I had the ceviche which was okay. It was too large for a starter, and was insufficiently citrusy. My dining companion had the mango salad, which was a beautiful presentation and seemed to be enjoyed. I then had the steak sandwich without the bread, and my companion had the spinach ravioli. The steak was a bit of a hot mess, featuring steak, mushrooms, peppers, and a fried egg, as well as potato salad(excellent) and a tossed salad (fine). The spinach ravioli was good. We asked for a dessert menu but never got one Wine by the glass list was excellent and the cocktails looked very creative. Still quite a lot of room for improvement, but promising

Went on a busy Saturday evening, and despite not having made a reservation, we were quickly accommodated near the bar area and immediately given menus and drinks. Some great beers were on draft and my wife loved her Malbec selection. My Bife de Lomo came out perfectly, exquisite and tender. My wife had the Canalones de Carne which she also loved. The atmosphere and colors inside made the night feel like an escape away from the city, and the music was fun. Overall, a smart restaurant, unique menu to the area, and excellent, attentive service all around. Highly recommend for a fun night out, or special occasion.

Our dinner club (15) went to this restaurant 08/30/14 and had a wonderful time. First off I would like to mention the service. We changed our reservation count several times and they were very nice about it. When we arrived the hostess was wonderful and continued to be throughout the evening, always a smile on her face. Our waiters were great, taking the time to explain the dishes and answer any (and there were alot) questions we had about the choices. The waiters and staff were extremely attentive to our group even though they had a full restaurant and the wine room full. The food was excellent for almost all, one little glitch in a chicken dish and some small bones left in the Branzino. I love this place and will definitely be back. Great job staff.

On Super bowl Sunday 2/1/15, my wife and daughter visited Sal Y Pimenta in the Citycenter for a brunch. Although it was not busy that day and the service was very poor. However, both shared a plate which consisted of ceviche and a plate called "Entrana" - a marinated flank steak. When they finally got their food (a good 30 mins later) the flank steak was charred on the outside, but very rare on the inside. My wife loves meat so she dived in, while my daughter chose not to eat it so rare. By the next day, my wife experience deep cramping and major diarrhea with bleeding and not my daughter. We quickly went to the doctor and they told her to she likely experienced some food poisoning. She continued to pass everything she would consume for two more days. She swore that she would never go back to Sal Y Pimenta every again! We wondered it anyone else had the same bad experience on that day or on another day.
