What a great find! The ambiance is very romantic, which while on a date with my boyfriend was very unexpected. It was a nice touch though. There were roses everywhere, the place though small was nicely decorated. There was even a cool booth for about 6-8 at the corner, which I want to sit in next time. The servers were attentive and the food came out promptly. I ordered green curry, the boyfriend a noodle dish along with a fried cheese appetizer. The curry was amazing. The noodle dish, a pork based one, wasn't bad. I'm just not that into pork based foods when chicken and beef are options. However, for a pork dish it was pretty tasty. Just not as tasty as my food. The place was clean, the prices were moderate, not cheap, but not extraordinarily expensive either-even though the venue made us worry we walked into a $20-30 venue when we first walked in. Around the 8 o'clock hour it's fairly empty, but business picks up around 9 and many diners come in at that time. The plates I saw ranged from 12-15. The most expensive dishes tended to be the seafood, from what I saw. I'm really excited about returning to this private cozy spot. It's got a little bit of everything, good food, good service, cute restaurant. I'll definitely be back.

Well I have to be honest, I really didn't enjoy this place. The folks here are friendly but the food is just not good. I've gotten takeout from here twice, and this past time we only went with Njoy because they were open a half-hour later than other better places (like Nara). After this time we agreed it was better to go hungry or get a different kind of food if Njoy ended up being our only option. First visit for takeout: We walked here (~1/2 mile) and our stupid butts didn't check our order before leaving the store. Sure enough, got home and several items were missing. We called and they said to come by in 20 minutes for a replacement. They didn't offer any credit on the bill or anything at all, not even really a "oops, sorry" for us. Granted, I didn't ask for it, so maybe that's on me. Second visit for takeout: Everything was present and accounted for before leaving (learned my lesson!). We had Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, and the Njoy Platter. None of it was stellar. The Njoy Platter's highlight was probably the cheesy rolls and even those were barely scraping a 3 star rating. The Pad Thai was mostly flavorless and disappointing. The Drunken Noodles were absolutely swimming in grease but were otherwise decently tasty. We'd asked for medium spicy and it was not spicy AT ALL. I'm curious if Thai spicy would even awaken my buds after seeing how bad of a no-show medium spicy was. Have not dined in so cannot comment on service, but the people here are very polite. Orders come out in the time frame quoted when ordering over the phone.

I don't understand all the 5 star reviews. From my experience, the food was very under seasoned and lacked the strong flavors you'd expect with Thai food. All I can say is I was underwhelmed, but perhaps I will give it another try.

Good food Should come. For lunch though The lunch menu is amazing Tried pork and chicken krum pad Love the spiciness :=

The food is just okay & there is no parking. The lunch specials were cheap but not that much flavor & I've had way better crispy springs rolls from Trader Joe's frozen section. The free appetizer is a nice touch though. Will go down the street to Nidda the next time a Thai craving strikes.

Njoy Thai is my favorite Thai spot in the area. I usually drop in for dinner - or place an order for take out. Drunken Noodles (Pad Kee Mao) is my go-to entree. Like, always. Keep in mind, their level of spiciness is off the charts; medium is actually too hot for me (and I'm Mexi-stani, so I have a pretty high tolerance for spice). What most Houstonians should know is that Njoy has one of the best lunch specials in town, for price and quality. For $6.95 (11a-2:30p), you get soup, salad and a hefty-sized entree. (If you're not an absolute pig, you'll need a to-go box.) The restaurant itself is super tiny, and they don't offer much parking, but you can park across the street. Do NOT park next door. Despite the strip center being empty (for now), the landlord there tows.

Nice restaurant clean & romantic. They having a great service, friendly waitor and staffs. In my opinion their Green Curry so delicious. It was well cook, a little spicy, coconut smell good, and the beef just melt in your mouth.

Due to the location, I find myself comparing Njoy Thai to Nidda Thai. I like them both for different reasons. Njoy is cleaner and has better ambiance (snaps for the entertaining and humorous Japanese easy-listening covers of American pop songs as background tunes), but the restaurant is smaller overall and parking can get tricky. Njoy is BYOB, and Nidda is not, though Nidda does serve a plum wine I enjoy. Njoy is cheaper, but doesn't have as large or as unique menu offerings. They have the typical American Thai restaurant variety -- curries, noodles, rice dishes, soups and salads. I had the Massuman curry, medium spice, and the flavor balance was excellent. I enjoyed my dish, but there were some preparation errors: the chicken was slightly overcooked, the potatoes were undercooked, but the sweet potatoes were perfectly cooked. The other dishes ordered at our table and were quickly eaten up, so they must have been good. I'll visit Njoy for lunch and inexpensive standby Thai dishes such as curries, cashew chicken, pad thai, etc. But I'll head a few blocks west to Nidda and pay a few dollars more when I've got a craving for more unique or spicier Thai food.

We decided to stop in for lunch and I am sure glad we did. They had some free stuff for an appetizerand that was a nice touch. I had the Massamun Curry and I would have sucked up the sauce with a straw but people were watching me. It was really good.

Visited this place over a year ago, and after today's lunch, I don't know why I haven't dined here more frequently. Their lunch is well-priced, comes with sides (salad, soup, potsticker, fried spring roll), and the entree portion is generous. I ordered the pad key mao (drunken noodles), which has good flavors and spices. My friend ordered a Thai Chicken salad. There was a lot of grilled chicken with it. I had a bite of the salad and the only thing I would've changed was adding more of the peanut sauce dressing.

I love this place! I come here often for their panang. As far as flavor, I add some salt and it is perfect. The dinner portions are HUGE and I get two meals out of it. The staff is friendly, the interior is nice, and it is a great bargain.

I finally tried this restaurant during lunch and it's within walking distance of where I work. For $6.95, you can get a decent size lunch special with soup and salad. The service is very quick and the food is quite consistent. The place is very whole in the wall-like and cozy. Nothing super fancy, but the food is absolutely delicious. It's BYOB, so you can bring whatever adult/alcoholic beverage you'd like. It's truly a hidden gem in Montrose.

  • Elizabeth F.

So disappointed today with my order today. I ordered a thai chicken salad to go and it was completely unacceptable. It is listed as served with peanut sauce (one of the reasons I ordered it) but it came with some generic dressing. The worst part was the chicken, the chicken dry and leathery, like it was defrosted in a hurry in the microwave - completely dehydrated. Usually, i just don't go back if I don't like the food but this is not about taste. It is gross and Somebody should have stopped the plate from leaving the kitchen.

We had the lunch specials. Comes with soup, dumpling, and eggroll. I had #4 drunken noodles chicken, he had chicken yellow curry. WONDERFUL. Great service, relaxed atmosphere, nice place. Will be back. Warning, don't park in the center next door, they tow.

This place is absolutely horrible for BYOB charge me $20 for BYOB food is ok, but the owner are f**king horrible next to learn how to take care of customers better, I should call BBB on them

  • Ben K.

Had the following: Spring rolls- don't waste your money, tasted like they came frozen in a bag. Dumplings - ok, but not great Drunken chicken - good, no complaints Pad Thai w/tofu - gross. No flavor. Perhaps they forgot the sauce. It looked like Pad Thai, but tasted like flavorless noodles. Overall - you'll probably find better elsewhere.

The authentic Thai recipes used in the preparation of the dishes at Njoy are based on the common fare available in and around Thailand. Each recipe reflects a balance of the four basic tastes found in all Thai food - salty, sweet, sour and bitter plus hot. Fresh Ingredients are prepared with care and cut into smaller pieces so that seasonings cover more surface area while retaining crispness and fresh flavors. The restaurant takes obvious pride in the expert layering of Thai flavors as well as the friendly and attentive service. Most entrées are less than$13 making Njoy a great place to take the family, a date or a casual business meal The menu includes vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options to accommodate all patrons. Best of all, its BYOB. Spice up your dining and enjoy the casual ambiance, great food and service at Njoy!

my favorite thai place in TX!!! ahhhhh the food is bomb.com !! The bathroom is so classy with towels. My friends always try to change it up but this is my goo to spot. I love it. Green curry is soo good as well as the not on the menu pad se eww. I went here valentines day and the place is dark enough to be intimate.

What a little hidden gem! The parking lot is teeny tiny! I stopped in after really craving some tom kha gha, so decided to stop in and get some to go food. It's a cute place, small, but super tidy and friendly service. They have applied for a liquor license, but I don't think they serve alcohol yet. I ordered two soups, and some friend basil rice. The prices were very reasonable, and the food came out quick. They do have free delivery for a limited area, and lots of options. The only reason it isn't 5 stars is that a weird man wondered off the street while I was there and freaked me out so much I wanted to haul ass outta there. The broth soup was excellent, the tom kha gha was a little watery for my taste, but the flavors were spot on. The basil rice was very very good. I will be back!

Delicious Thai food and we are so glad we have found it. We've ordered to go and have eaten there. Friendly staff and really great food. They need to sort out some deal for parking with the empty lot next door that has has nothing done to the building in months.

Njoy is a great choice for a Thai fix. I had the pad see ew and egg rolls. Both were delicious! The service was pretty good and the restaurant itself has a really clean, sleek feel to it. The parking situation isn't very good though and I think the first time I tried to come by they were closed. The restaurant is quite small so that may account for limited parking.

Pros: Thai tea, pad Thai, very cool environment... If this was the end of the review it would have been a 4/5. However... Cons: if you are not satisfied with your dish, the chef will come out and tell you the proper way to eat 'Thai food'. My red curry had no flavor. He blamed the lack of flavor on the fact I put a scoop of rice in the curry. Very disappointed they made me pay for a dish I did not eat.

I loved the mild curry dish I had tonight. I can't handle anything too spicy, so the waitress suggested this mild curry dish with sweet potatos, potatos, and a yellow curry. I think it was yellow. Anyway it was so good I almost licked the bowl.

Being from New York, I've had a LOT of Thai food. I've experienced the best and the worst of chicken pad thai, and Njoy has my vote for the best pad thai. My boyfriend and I came here 3 or 4 times in the two weeks that I was down in Houston. The dish was just about perfect - chicken was a little dry but the sauce on the noodles makes up for it - it was so good that I still give it 5 stars. They've nailed it, and the service is great too. They also give you fortune cookies with the check which is a nice touch (despite not being Thai). 5/5. I plan coming back when I'm in town!

Parking....ok that is the only issue that you have to deal with (3 spaces out front- but you can park on the street on either side- don't park in the lot to the right-they will tow) But once your in the place you in for a treat- clean and comfortable and excellent service- I had the Green Curry-which was awesome, friends had Red and Pad Thai both winners....and out of there for less than 10 bucks....win / win.

After an intense photo shoot, I wanted to take out my amazing photographer, Karen Le Mendoza, and her sister Nhi to lunch. We decided on Njoy Thai because they were BYOB. We stopped by Spec's in Midtown to pick up a bottle of French white wine. There is a $7 corking fee per bottle. We got the appetizer platter to start. It came with cheese rolls, spring rolls, dumplings, fish cakes, and chicken satay. It was served with four sauces (peanut sauce, pickled celery, soy sauce, and sweet and sour) for each of the appetizers. For the entrees, we got the chicken pad thai and massaman curry. My favorite was the massaman curry. It was served with sweet potatoes, onions, and potatoes. We picked pork as our protein to switch it up from the chicken. I normally order yellow or red curry, but I'm really glad we got the massaman curry. It was really flavorful and as always, tasted great with the jasmine rice. One serving of curry was enough to split between the three of us.

Very nice little Thai restaurant in the Montrose district. Easy to miss it is so small. Hardly any parking. Don't park on the right side of the building or you will get towed according to staff. Very formal but comfortable interior. Delicious food. Probably not the best Thai I've ever had but still very good. Wasn't a huge fan of the spring rolls. I did enjoy the Penang curry. The service was excellent.

  • Trina L.

The rice tastes like instant, it is by no means sticky rice. I ordered the ginger chicken, it is basically sliced and boiled, very plain, the sauce was good but thin. Lots of veggies. The cheese rolls were nice, I do recommend them. Nice presentation and table decor. The atmosphere is very cute, romantic and relaxing. Jazz and oldies r&b love songs. It's more than I expected for a tiny place. It's good for takeout quality but I'm sure there is far more authentic and higher quality Thai food places out there.

Yum! Panang curry and Tom Kha Gai are very good. If something is not hot enough, ask for the hot sauces and use the red pepper in oil!!

Restaurant had maybe 6 tables. The waitress told us we could all park in the parking lot (I asked prior). All of our cars got towed. The owner was pissed- apologized and said that she would cover it. She will not return my phone calls to take responsibility for her mistake. DISHONEST PEOPLE.

I was pretty disappointed with my meal. I had the pad woo sen, and it was very bland. The chicken was not seasoned much at all. My friend had the pad Thai and she said it was okay but nothing special. The service was slow even though they were not very busy. They were playing to 40 music and it was way too loud. The parking is also terrible.

  • Holly K.

This place is just eh... both dishes we had were missing something and slightly bland. Is that even thai food possible?? Pad Thai was just off. Husband said the chicken in his green curry was strange and texture was like it was out of a can. Not to mention the attention to service was odd... When we arrived they helped us find a parking spot as there are very few, which was nice. As i was waiting for the parking situation to get sorted a couple was at a table with menus and water for what must have been a while as they just closed the menus and left. Then the server sat us at that same table as the couple who left, which was fine but i asked him 3 times to change the water before he really listed to what i said. So not sure if he just didn't understand or wasn't listening. We also almost left as it took several long stares at the servers to get them to come back and take out order. We will def not be back here.

I'm not big Thai food person but my dad REALLY wanted Thai so I found this place on yelp. Looked okay, had good reviews so we went. The restaurant was small but really nice, the service was great, and the food...YUM! We all had curry and it was de-li-cious! I highly recommend this place. My dad and I also tried a Thai beer and it really good too. Five stars!

Barely visible in an unassuming building, this place is easy to pass up. There are very few parking spots located in front with additional parking across the street. The place is very small inside but is decorated nicely and there is always a full staff ready to serve. The menus are great here. There are tons of entrees, apps, and curries to choose from and many photos on the menu. The lunch menu has smaller portions and also comes with a soup. My first visit here was for lunch and I ordered the red curry, as that's my standard Thai meal. I truly enjoyed it here. The sauce was spicy and delicious. The chicken was in bite size pieces and very tender. The soup was ah-mazing. It was a spicy clear broth with mushrooms. I've never had anything like it. It drank every last drop. My second visit I came for dinner and ordered the Pad Thai with mixed meats including chicken, pork, beef, and shrimp. This visit I also took advantage of the BYOB policy and brought a bottle of wine ($3 cork fee). The Pad Thai was truly fabulous. The presentation was impressive. When placed in front of me, it looked like an omelet (see picture). Once you cut into the egg you see the familiar spicy noodle concoction. It was so delicious. The noodles were spicy and tender and the peanuts, green onions, and various proteins added great texture to the entree. The staff here are super friendly and very attentive. My 2nd visit we had a very young waitress, maybe the owners daughter or something. She was truly adorable and was a great waitress, and despite her obvious rookie status, was able to answer questions about the menu, explain the different levels of spice we could chose, and our orders came out just right even though a few substitutions were requested. I am now a regular customer. This place is wonderful and I think they've got a great thing going here.

4 parking spaces. Annoying music. Palatable but bland food (they didn't ask how spicy I wanted). Fried tofu appetizer was terrible. Corking fee was $7 for a bottle of wine. I won't be back.

Delicious pad thai and really good Panang curry. Servers are friendly too. Lots of smiles. Downside is parking. Order the thai tea...it was strong in a good way. We'll be back. Hard to compare with nida thai. Seems quieter.

The ambience as you walk in is very inviting. Quiet, intimate, low lighting and comfortable booths as well as table and chairs. I popped in for a take out and saw a few couples on date night and it felt like a good spot for it.....except......the stripper's booth. I dont know what else to call it. It is a raised booth in the corner with rich dark curtains surrounding it for privacy should you so wish. It was quirky but slightly disturbing. I have eaten Thai food on many continents and of course in Thailand itself. I was looking forward to the food here given the reviews. I ordered pineapple fried rice and panang chicken curry for the DH. What a bloody let down the pineapple fired rice was. Just cheap rice that was mushy, mealy and not at all appetizing. The cashew nuts were burned which i assume doesnt happen everyday and the pineapple so overcooked it was almost liquified. The DH was rather more impressed with his curry but thought the sauce a little thin though tasty. He wanted brown rice as an accompaniment....that would be an extra $4 please!!! Neither accomodating nor competitive. Went elsewhere the next night and ordered the same dishes. We can conclude that better Thai food is to be found further into Montrose along Westheimer. Nidda Thai has better fresher higher quality food but the interior of the very friendly Njoy Thai restaurant does earn it a few stars. Should serve those 20 somethings in midtown who have been looking for something other than burgers, calamari and the usual food on offer along bagby and brazos.

Lovely little spot. Great ambience, super cute decor, good service, and delicious food. Portions are good and price is affordable. Parking is a little annoying but that's true for that entire area of town. Haven't taken advantage of the BYOB yet but will. One of my favorite restaurants in the area.

I like this restaurant. It's quick and not typically busy so it's easy to get a seat. We went for dinner and the place was practically empty but there were a staff of three that assisted us in getting our meals and drinks. It's a BYOB so you won't be able to get a fine glass of wine or beer while you're eating but that's ok with me! The food was good.. we had soup, curry, and a chicken dish. The food was all very tasty and we had no issues with understanding the menu. Great options. The food was cooked fresh and EXTREMELY HOT, temperature wise. It was good and tasty. I have had better Thai food at other restaurants but I'm not an extreme foodie so it was good to me.

Based on my two visits here, with the first one being so-so and the last one being fairly decent, I'm thinking Njoy is a 3.5, but I'll just leave it at four stars for the time being. So during my first visit, I had a cashew tofu dish. The portion wasn't too generous for the price point - which is understandable because I'm sure Montrose rent ain't cheap. However, the stuff was absolutely on the saltier side. But it was still palatable with the rice cutting through some of that incoming hypertension. The second time I dined her, it was during lunch time, so I received a dainty salad with peanut dressing and a spring roll accompanying my lunch selection. I'm not sure as to what I ordered, but it was some sort of tofu dish of course, and remarkably NOT intensely salty. Hurray! It was delicious and I gobble up all of it. Darn skippy I did. The interior is a little typical of an Asian restaurant, which this one being a bit more dimly lit and possibly intimate-feeling for dates? And oh yeah BYOB is always a good thing.

Seriously Yelpers? Thai food represent one of the best Asian cuisine and if you are looking for anything that taste like a decent Thai food, PLEASE do yourself a favor and skip this place. On their website, they claimed the chef has 20 years of experience... he will have to seriously proof it, otherwise, the experience is probably within his own home! Just imagine you are gathering up some friends over to your house & decided to tryout for the first time cooking Thai food, thats how the food like over here... Reason i am so harsh on this is, this restaurant is such a bad representation of one of the best cuisine in the Orient. We tried the Tod Man Pla (fish cake) that was just like the regular frozen fish ball you get from the Asia grocery store with added fresh kaffir leaf and the cucumber dipping sauce was made from the Thai chili sauce that was mixed with cuts of fresh cucumbers, WRONG! Then the Pad Kee Mao, the noodles were all stick together and lumpy, best part of this noodle is the wok flavor and this can only be achieved by a very good wok in very high heat done by an "experience" cook. Here, none of that exist. The wait staff suggested Green Curry coz its one of their most popular, we requested to have it mild NOT bland... So, again, do yourself a favor and drive down few more blocks to Nidda Thai or further down Richmond past Galleria to Thai Gourmet, there you WILL find decent THAI food. Better still, for a more home-cooked Thai food, go to Asia Market or Vieng Thai!

At last. At long last. The return of the almost one star review. With what appears to be an endless stream of five star reviews, I began to question myself? Have I lowered my standards? In food? In life? Or even worse, am I becoming a happier person? A glass half full kind of person? Far be it. It isn't that I was actively looking for a below average place-- Njoy fell into my lap. I get out of class at almost 8 PM. The only thing I want to do is go home and cry. But the girlfriend was having girl's night out at...Njoy. Oh joy... It just so happened that resto dot com email bombed me with an ad that had Njoy Thai Restaurant in it. I confirmed it was so. I called the group of old hags and told them to order at least $75 for $50 of it would be covered (add $16, add 18% gratuity, add schemes). If I were a restaurant, I would never, ever do anything to associate myself with resto dot com. If I were a diner, I would never, ever use resto certs unless you do it idiotically in the spur of a moment. In life, if you can swap $50 for $16, and there's a lot of small font, you are getting screwed. Just ask the $50+ worth of unused resto certificates in my account (I guess some would say it is actually worth $523,652 dollars). When I finally do get there, I find the place charming enough. I see they have a nice little booth and it looks a-ok. I take a look at the spread and don't really care for it too much. Best example is they cover the pad thai with an entire flat/scrambled egg. WHY?! WHY?! Food was average to below average-- I tried some chicken wing appetizer (it tasted like a fried chicken wing), some mystery curry, some mystery tofu, and something that may have been chicken. There was rice. Dessert had really sweet mangos but the rice and whatever the hell was next to it was left on the plate. Four females. Arguably, 4.5 females. More than half a dessert on the plate. Do the math, man. Which brings us to the theme: do the math, man. Look I whip out the old paper certificate. I say "Oh, I have this gift card by the way" to ease the pain. Card, not certificate, it is the little things. It don't work hurr. He's "happy" about the 18%. He would have gotten it either way. And he comes back with the bill, we don't give a shit because we saved $50, hurray! Until it seems like we really didn't save at all. Maybe I lost money. Someone pays and leaves, the other three girls are just stating how full they are or something to that effect, and I see that our dude tallied up the bill, added tax, added the 18% gratuity and then subtracted the $50. Honest mistake-- I point it out. We wait for 15 full minutes while he fiddles with the calculator. He calls me over and points out $80 + tax + 18% gratuity - $50. At this point, I'm pissed-- we've been waiting the entire night for menial shit, I'm talking water refills, more rice, someone wanted a goddamn fork, a to-go box, and it is one guy and another guy who doesn't speak English for the entire restaurant. My blood boils and I'm practically Njoy version of Achilles-at-the-beginning-of-the-Iliad. BRO: $80 - $50 + tax + 18% gratuity (off $80). Dude gets angry, writes $80 + tax - $50. I'm flipping out at this point. He doesn't add the tip because he's being saucy. In hindsight, I should have said okay whatever BRAH, but I'm trying to show how to do da math and how to do it right (and service wasn't that bad despite the wait times) so I'm like YES TIP. ADD THE TIP. MAKE IT 20% - like he really gives two shits about the extra 2%. I get the bill, I tuck the outrageous 4 other credit cards away, and pay for it, making a mental note to debt collect publicly on Yelp. This isn't the first time the guy had gotten Resto Cert bombed but he said to me-- look the owners, the motherfucking owners, are charging me for this so with the coupon, I'm going to owe the money or something. Paraphrasing. I said something to the effect of, ARE THE OWNERS HERE? LET ME TALK TO THEM RIGHT NOW but it might as well have been a "Whatever, brooo" It is only in hindsight that I realized the jolly server / owner surrogate / owner was actively trying to rip us off. A lesser man, no doubt, would have been ripped off. Do not be that man. Or woman. To be honest, and why I gave it two instead of sending it to the 1 star hall of shame-- I just didn't care for a lot of the food and only ate a few small portions of everything. Ambiance: 4.5 stars Food: 2 stars Service: 1 star Advice: cardinal rule-- don't break it: Never use Resto certs here or anywhere. Heck, actually don't even come here. I know margins are tough but to deliberate over $20 odd dollars worth of savings might make a better man question what other corners are being cut. With a whole host of questionable Asian restaurants to be avoided, Njoy lands firmly on my never again, and it shouldn't have happened in the first place. Wow I fucking hit a word limit on a Yelp review. Not sure what that says about me or the review.

There are only very few parking spaces in the front of Njoy but there is a sign that says you can park across the street. Directly across the street is *Feast (edited from previous entry).. but if you go over one lot, it's the old Legacy Clinic lot that they may be referring to.. Well, we decided to safely assumed that. (parked there and didn't get ticketed an hour later. phew.) Our waiter was a sweet guy that contributed to our nice dinner :) Our pad woon sen and tom kha ga ALL had full genuine Thai flavors (not spice). We also ordered the Basil Fried Rice surrounded my cucumber garnish. It's a healthy route and it tastes just as good as regular fried rice. My only objection are their portions. I'm not one who wants a HUGE portion for a higher cost. Quality Over Quantity. However, no offense, but this is not a five star establishment. I'm aware of "similar" Thai restaurants within a mile radius that are just as great, same portions but for lesser cost. I still like the food here and I'd come back to try other dishes. You have the heat option of choosing Medium, Hot or Thai Hot. Now this may be personal taste but we ordered our entrees as HOT and I didn't feel a lick of spice on my tongue. Seriously, you expect to feel an ounce of sting but it was completely absent. Odd, right? Do you like spice? Well don't order Hot. Get Thai Hot and let me know how it goes.

Let me begin by saying service gets 1 star...food gets 5 stars. There seemed to be only 1 waitress working and our party of 8 thought she might be the chef as well because of how the food arrived. Our meals were delivered about 5 minutes apart. So over a 20 minute span we received everything. I ordered a soup and it never came, then at the end I got it to go (although I wanted it before my main meal). Everything we ordered was very good. I would go back even though the service was bad.

I love Thai food anyway, but I will definitely come back to N Joy. The atmosphere is warm, quiet and is very appropriately appointed. There is an adequately stocked bar but I was just there for lunch. Service is very fast and efficient. Not too much and not too little. The food is great. There is a very inexpensive lunch menu and more elaborate dishes on the full menu. I think this place will do very well.

Small and intimate, extremely great service and friendly, and wonderful food. We felt so bad dragging in a group of 20 (the party started as 7 initially, and then exponentially grew). The staff was so helpful in accommodating us and our shenanigans, and just kept adding on tables for the stragglers. I've had the tom yum goong, which is wonderfully tart and spicy, and the thai hot red curry every time I've come - solid contenders for those who like to amp up the spice. Definitely BYOB'd. Ice buckets for wine, entire large buckets of ice for our beers, wine glasses. So incredibly accommodating. The BYOB experience here is so effortless that it makes for a very enjoyable and economic option, particularly for as large of a group as we had. Sorry Njoy for not anticipating how much of a crowd we drew for the birthday party!

They really have some of the best green curry I have ever had, and I've had a lot of green curry. It has the perfect texture, a good balance of veggies and meat, and is just so damn flavorful. Even the rice was cooked perfectly, not too mushy like I usually encounter. I look forward to going back and trying to rest of their menu.

We were looking for someplace new to try in town, and found Njoy. It's in an area that is under resurrection. There are many newly renovated and opened businesses and a bunch of trendy restaurants, bars, bistros, etc. with fresh housing complexes also being renovated and re-established. So, the area is pretty busy on a Saturday night. I called first to see if a reservation would be necessary and get the hours and dress code. A friendly voice on the other end of the phone said that we would have a table at 730p without a problem, that dress was casual and the kitchen would be serving until 10p. We found our way to the restaurant and noticed that there is very little parking in front, I think only 5 spots and at least one of those is a handicapped space. But, we noticed a sign that said that there was parking across the street. The cross street parking also had valet service if you wanted it. Crossing Westheimer on Saturday night, with traffic, a little rain, and beautiful women in high heels, may not the most desirable option. But, we got it done! lol The food was great, and we tried a lot of different things. Apps: spring rolls crispy spring rolls fried prawns chicken satay dumplings won ton soup cheese rolls entrees: pad thai chicken lad na pork green curry beef (spicy) no room for dessert - obviously! lol one great thing not yet mentioned - IT IS BYOB!!! so, we had two nice bottles of chardonnay, a Clos du Bois and vintage Sterling Vintner's reserve to accompany the food. Great food, all of it! Total price $100 !!! including tax and tip!! (FYI - I tip on the wine as if I bought it there. Especially when they don't charge a corking fee.) Highly recommend trying this place if you haven't yet! The prices are very reasonable. Service was good. Atmosphere pleasant, what more can you ask for?

Service is great. Very happy waiter Tom Kha (3/5) - solid. Green curry (3/5) - HUGE portion of curry. The curry itself has great flavor. Wish the vegetables were a little more cooked down...not too partial to hard eggplant etc. Pad see ew (3/5) - def smaller. good flavor. kind of a shame that they ran out of wide flat noodles by the time we ordered. still okay with skinny glass noodles. definitely open to coming back, yay for a new thai restaurant!

My favorite Thai restaurant in the Montrose. Small location on Westheimer, only weakness is the small parking lot (only 4 spots) but street parking is nearby. Great lunch specials. I really enjoyed the Peanut Sauce chicken, red and panang curries, and pad thai. Soup, salad, spring rolls are all very good. Very reasonable prices, very good service. As usual with Thai food, you can pick your spiciness level. In my opinion, a little hotter than most, so order a level lower than you would normally order, and ask for peppers or hot sauce on the side if you need to add more later.

Get the chicken or shrimp Pad thai it's awesome . Great spot as well super clean and friendly , it's also byob which is fun! Best thai in this area by far and prices are very fair . Huge pad thai with chicken is $10.95 Worth a try you won't be disappointed. Enjoy !

Horrible, horrible Eggplant dish, the only reason why I gave an additional star is because I demanded to close my tab and not have that Eggplant charged and after much debating they decided to appease me. I ended up paying for the spring rolls which were really rubbery and sub standard... Cook even came out to discuss the Eggplant Dish and told me that everyone likes it...if you have been to Nidda Thai or Thai Gourmet...or remotely ate Thai food before, you know that it doesn't taste like that. It was slimy and a mix of salt and sugar...avoid the Eggplant at all costs! Now as far as ambience, quietness and cleanliness it was fine, but I go for the food...and that was bad.

Amazing Chu Chee curry. Comes in a big fish bowl. Boyfriend got panang curry which was also bomb. We got the papaya salad as an appetizer and it was very very spicy. Delightful! As a reference, I usually order a 2 on a scale of 1-5 at Thai restaurants and he usually orders a 3 (5 being the revered "Thai spicy" at which you should swim at your own risk). Small, off-the beaten path location but in the very eclectic location. Will definitely return because I'm getting tired of the sub-par Nit Noi in Midtown. This place has more character, is better lit and has nicer and more attentive servers and bartenders. Very minimal parking (3 cars). Parking to the side lot in front of abandoned convenient store. Sketchy but legal. Also BYOB for $3 corking fee. Well worth it in my opinion. I love that Aladdin's, just down the street, is also BYOB. Alcohol can have such a mark-up at restaurants and that is not the disco I'm trying to dance.

Love this place! It's BYOB and has a fantastic ambiance. Fresh flowers on the table, good food, clean bathrooms and friendly service. My husband and I bring a bottle of wine and never have to wait for a table even on the weekends. Surprised this place isn't more packed. It's very quiet and intimate. If you like spicy, make sure to get Thai Hot because their spice levels are more mild than Thai Kitchen or Thai Gourmet.

Just another Thai restaurant of no particular note. The fired Spring rolls were too peppery. The Thom Ka soup was OK, as was the Red Curry, but not remarkable. Pretty average prices for average food. The interior is clean and somewhat cosy, though not strikingly "Thai". We were the only diners, at 8 PM on a week night. Perhaps the frigid temperatures kept other people away. Parking seems scarce. Only 3 spots in front of the restaurant (apparently taken up by staff), and no indication if we were permitted to park in the adjacent empty lot, which we did, with some trepidation. The waitress was a mousy shy thing, barely audible and with a thick accent. She was vigilant in keeping our water topped off, but never once offered or suggested drinks. All told, a disappointment.

No. No. No. This is a scam. Run away. Sorry, but this was a disaster. Well meaning people do not a Thai restaurant make... Not even close.

I saw the rave of high yelp reviews so I decided to give them a try even though I already have a good base of delicious thai restaurants, something a bit closer to home that offers BYOB doesn't hurt. However, this is not my answer. First off the parking lot is tiny! I parked next door but right as I was parking a homeless man came up to me harassing me. Once inside the place looks very nicely decorated. It could be a cool date spot. As far as the food, I had the pad see ew combo with chicken, beef, and shrimp. The serving size was average, not a lot, but I was ok with that for the price if the flavor was good, it was just meh again. The service was fast though.

My niece and I decided to stop by this Thai place in celebration of getting through her first week of the 7th grade. She is a big fan of Thai cuisine, more specifically the TOM YUM soup and PAD THAI w/shrimp. We were lucky to get one of the three? parking spots out front, but unlucky in the sense that we were the only diners in the establishment. As a result, we were the recipients of obsequious attention from our server. For starters, I ordered the TOM KHA soup with chicken. I thought it was among the best I've tried in Houston. But my niece thought it tasted more like coconut yogurt gone bad. Well good thing I ordered it. GREEN CURRY w/BEEF was recommended by other Yelpers. It has great flavors - creamy coconut broth, spicy thai chilis; textures - crispy green beans and bell peppers, soft mushrooms and bamboo shoots. The quality of the beef is not that great. I'm not sure what cut it is but it was chewy and tough. Kinda ruins the whole dish.

I was hoping this place would be amazing, but it was underwhelming. This area is severely lacking in great thai spots. I don't always want to drive to the good ones. But, all in all, not a bad a little addition to the area (directly across from Feast). Very snazzy looking inside, but I think they need a month or so to get in their groove. The pad thai was ok, but not spicy at all. I'll give this place another shot once they've had some time to get things in order.

I live around the corner from here and me and my boo have been eyeing it since it opened. I stopped in here at about 9PM Friday with some friends. We weren't sure if it was open, because it was totally dead inside. They assured us they were and we sat down. The place was very nice inside, they had napkin rings and all that shit. I ordered beef green curry (amazing), my girl got chicken pad thai (which they made spicy enough to satisfy her, which is rare), my buddy had some big pile of beef (not even sure if that was even on the menu, he's from the midwest and has simple tastes). My girls brother ended up getting a frozen burrito from next door, I have no idea why; he's kinda weird sometimes. Everything was amazing. Food tasted great, presentation was gorgeous, service was great (although, we were the only table in there lol). The bill was about $35 or so, which i thought was very reasonable considering the portions and quality. The leftovers reheated marvelously. I really hope this place survives, because it's awesome and within stumbling distance from my apartment. I plan on returning as soon as possible.

Came with my family - had 5 entrees, 2 appetizers and a dessert. Everything was excellent. I am actually planning to bring a bachelorette party here since the price is reasonable and it's BYOB! entrees ordered: red curry with shrimp pad thai with pork pad kee mao with chicken basil shrimp fried fish appetizers ordered: fried shrimp chicken wings dessert: mango sticky rice topped with coconut ice cream Wait staff was attentive and they allowed me to "create" my own dessert.

Sigh. It hurts me to write a review for this place because I have to re-live the experience in writing and memory. A few girlfriends and I had reservations at Njoy for 6:30pm last night. We were all there by 6:40pm at the latest. They held our reservation nicely and set up our table. Now, to keep from flopping through the highlighted images of my experience at this place, I'll divide my review into categories. ::deep breath:: here goes: Service: This receives 1 star . If you have read my reviews, then you know this is unprecedented. To start off, we were barely greeted except for our drink orders. Then, when one girl tried to order Thai iced coffee, they said they were out. Then, they came back out and said they said they had. Three minutes later, they confirmed they were indeed out, and this cycle repeated at least twice! She settled for water due to this crazy lack of communication. Due to the manner in which our table was situated, the waiter couldn't get to me to take my order. I pretty much had to shout my order over two people to him. And, each time he needed my attention, he waved at me. After the third time, I was tired of it. Then, the food arrived - - well, most of it within 10 minutes. The waiter mixed up the orders, and didn't really speak loudly enough to know who had which order. Two girls at our table had to wait until we all had our entrees and our food was beginning to get cold. One of the girls was asked AT LEAST five times what she ordered, and we all know he wrote it down too!! After much tapping of our feet and rolling of our eyes, the two girls were served and we all began eating. By the way, my food had to be passed over people to get to me (given our table situation). Once we were done eating, we couldn't find the waiter! We must've waited sixteen to twenty-three minutes trying to flag someone down! Once we received, the bill, we handed over credit cards, cash, and vouchers for dinner, but they must have come back at least three times to check how we wanted to deal with the bill and each time it was a different person! We left the restaurant at 9:15pm. It was ridiculously long and our patience was out. Ambiance: 2 stars Lovely set up, but it was crowded and not really made for two large groups. Aside form our group, there was another group of 12 behind us and all the other tables had 4 - 6 people; I felt like an old person constantly asking people around me to repeat themselves and eventually returned to nodding because trying to hear people at my table was becoming a battle. If they don't have enough staff to attend properly to these tables, then they shouldn't allow such large reservations on the same night! There really isn't enough space in the restaurant for it. Additionally, we found the TV distracting. No one was really watching it and it was illuminating certain guests in a funny light, but I learned later that this was normal for a thai restaurant. I didn't know. Food: 4 stars This was worth the experience. The food was great, but I can't eat my leftovers today because I had to wait an hour to take home my bagged food and additional time to drive it home. I'm sure anyone who lived further away than I did, probably didn't want to refrigerate their food after it's been cold and sitting out for so long. Neighborhood: 3 stars This place is in the old Fabio's restaurant location at shallow Westheimer (around the transition from Elgin to Westheimer). It's next to some sketchy stores and an empty lot across the street. Parking: 1 star Speaking of across the street, has anyone seen people cross Westheimer without using the crosswalk? I always pity those who do it or judge them for being stupid or careless. Well, Njoy's parking lot is across the street- on the other side of Westheimer. Many of the girls had to cross Westheimer to get to the restaurant and back to their cars - - and there was no crosswalk. No crosswalk, but a sign that read "Parking across the street." I was worried for anyone who crossed the street. I breathed a sigh of relief when I left the stress-filled restaurant. And, I sigh as I write this. I have never been so happy to be out of a place and back at home with some semblance of control over my surroundings. I don't plan on returning regardless of how much I enjoy Thai food. I hope you have a better experience.

Having been back to N'Joy about a half dozen times since my initial review, I figured it's time for an update. Briefly: WOW! Food is amazing, service is quickly catching up. The rest of the story: To me, one of the hallmarks of a good restaurant is the consistency of the food - taste and quality. Njoy is wonderfully consistent. I've yet to have a dish that I didn't enjoy. Obviously some I've enjoyed more than others, and some are absolutely hidden gems on the menu. I wish there was a menu insert that would say "Feeling adventurous? Try these fanthaistic dishes" just to get people like me out of complacent ordering ruts. On various visits I've asked Belle (the owner) and both David & Francisco for menu suggestions, and was wowed each time. The Chu Chee (#48) with fish is AMAZING!!!!!! The Red Curry (#45 (the photo on menu has wrong number)) is sublime. The Peanut Sauce Chicken (#26) is spectacular. The "Drunken Noodles" Pad Kee Moa (#40) is simply awesome. These were all dishes that had previously blended into my menu, languishing and lost among more familiar names and photos ... yet they are rock star dishes with flavors delicately balanced and nuanced. The sauces are to die for ... if I had a straw that reached across the table, I would drink your sauce. It's that good. The service is getting better - not that it was ever bad, it wasn't - it was always attentive but a little overwhelmed at times. I think they're figuring out how best to staff the restaurant and ensure a great dining experience for everyone. It's still BYOB which is fine, actually, I don't really miss them not having the liquor license yet. I think next in line should be a point-of-sale system to make the ordering/bill flow a bit quicker, but I understand that they can't do it all at once. I have my fingers crossed that they'll offer delivery (themselves or through a 3rd party) in the near future. I've read a few comments about the spiciness. It goes without saying (but I'll say it anyway) that everyone has different thresholds for spiciness. I can understand why a restaurant would rather under-"hot" the dishes than have to toss them for people who ordered above their scoville. I'd much rather ask them to spice it up a bit more or provide the table with spices for me do so on my own, than have them make something inedibly spicy. Personally, I much prefer having the subtle spices and flavors coming through and building on my palate, than to have them blown away by dumping thai chilis in the dish. That said, my brother-in-law likes the heat, and he has been able to get his sweat on there - just takes a little dialogue. Two can't miss dishes: Chu Chee with fish, and Red Curry with chicken - they're Thairiffic Parking: I park on Helena and walk the 200 feet to Njoy

Excellent & friendly service from the staff. Tom-Kha-Gai is hard to mess up, but Njoy's was had more chicken & mushrooms than most. Fried fish entree was excellent as well.

Visited this place for lunch twice already. It is so good. The red curry and the pad thai are so great. Great service and the place is clean. This is definitely a favorite lunch spot. Everyone got something different and we all loved our meals.

We love this place! It's clean and welcoming, the owners and staff are wonderful, the food is delightfully fresh and flavorful. I live close by but would definitely travel to get here even if I didn't. Someday when they get their liquor license I will greatly miss the BYOB, but until then we plan on going there as often as possible with a bottle of our favorite wine. Great spring rolls, wonderful Pad Thai and other great veg options.

New favorite! Another BYOB Thai spot with awesome curry. Almost no parking but whatever. We've been a few times and the service has ranged from awesome to bizarrely slow, but the food makes up for it. Can't go wrong with the green or panang curry, and the noodle dishes are good as well.

Thai food for people who think Pei Wei makes their food too spicy. I had the most boring pad thai I've had in Houston here but I awkwardly gave the owner a thumbs up when she asked how everything was and have felt like a liar since.

ITS ABOUT TIME MIDTOWN/ MONTROSE gets a GREAT THAI PLACE! My husband and I eat ALOT of thai! We have tired them all in Houston- this place is FRESH, AMAZING SERVICE, and very pretty, private inside. I can eat some really spicy food, and usually when I ask for spicy, they dont give it to me. This place DOES! I hope people go and enoy it as much as we did, we have been back 5 times. I would love for it to stay in business since its good and close to us! If you are looking for some delecious Thai- go here!

We stumbled upon this place while driving around looking for something to eat. Parking lot maybe fits 4 cars but there was only one car out front....so we were a bit skeptical. The restaurant is dark inside, so it's a good setting for a date. Everything was clean and up to date. I really wanted to sit in this booth they had that had curtains around it, but I think that's meant for a small party. :) We ordered a fried fish appetizer...it looked battered and different in the picture menu...when it came out, it was just a plain fish cake...so a little disappointed there. We ordered the pad thai and pad see ew... I enjoyed the pad thai. I liked how they made an egg omelet and put it as an outside cover on the pad thai. Very creative. I didn't really taste the pad see ew because they made it so spicy. But I think he thought it was pretty decent. I wish they had the crispy spring rolls though like every other Thai Restaurant. Solid Thai place for Midtown though.

We have eaten here a handful of times and the food is delicious plus it is BYOB with small corkage fee. The staff are very friendly and we will continue to go back. At one point they lost their top cook and you could tell in the taste but now they have him back so we will continue to njoy!

My first visit was wonderfully impressive--my bff and I like to scout out new restaurants for our monthly visits together. Great service--our waitress was attentive and knowledgeable--explained dishes very well. The vegetarian selections are plentiful and fresh--the presentations pleasing to the eye--we simply wanted to chow down on such beautiful food. We ordered veggie spring rolls, tod mon koong [shrimp cake--very tasty], tom kha gai soup, thai somtum salad, red curry and massamam curry. For dessert, coconut ice cream and bananas--sometimes fried bananas are too greasy--these were sublime. The entire meal was a wonderful feast of tastes--a real treat these days. I would highly recommend this restaurant and plan to visit it again very soon. One can never get enough of good Thai food that is flavorful and beautifully presented. Wish I had remembered to take pictures!
