CRAZY good food here indeed! The hand made flour tortillas here are seriously massive and oh so delicious. I tried the barbacoa plate and menudo here. Menudo was pretty good, but those barbacoa tacos I had were damn good and I cry a little when I think of them because I don't live close enough to go again :( The horchata? Forget about it! Sweet ricey cinnamon goodness right thur I tell you what. I didn't taste a single thing I didn't like a LOT. And the prices are rock bottom for this kind of quality. The only thing that they can improve on is getting more space, but I think this is like an old house that was converted or something. A little cramped in between tables, but I didn't care one bit while I was chowing down. Really guys, do yourself a favor if you want some good Mexican food and get your hungry ass in here. You can send me a post card after.

Back in Galveston two years later, and we hit this place up twice for breakfast. The breakfast tacos are still to die for. I forgot to mention in my last review that the tortillas are hand-made and are awesome. A little tip: The D'mingo breakfast burrito says it's twice of a Grande, yet it costs a dollar more than two Grande burritos. It may seem like a ripoff, but each Grande burrito has 1-2 slices of bacon, while the D'mingo has a bunch. Get the D'Mingo instead of 2 Grande burritos if you love bacon (and who doesn't?).

Great place and right off the seawall! Very clean with Great service and even better food! A must when in Galveston from now on! The end!

My wife, two children and I went for a late breakfast. The kids had chips and queso, my wife and I ordered the Chilaquiles. When we ordered the Chilaquiles, we were given an option of having them in red or green sauce. I've ordered Chilaquiles in the past, and have NEVER been given an option of sauces. Not sure that is typical or not, just different. The Chilaquiles came to the table luke warm in temperature. The taste was just okay. The restaurant looked like it has been there for a long time, which was cool. Wasn't fancy by any means. Your typical neighborhood restaurant. Next time we're in Galveston, don't think we're going to rush back to eat there again.

Very cozy and welcoming. This is the kind of place you want to become a regular at so you can get hugs from the staff.

Living in Houston, we have a great array of tex mex restaurants and taquerias scattered all over the city. And in that sense I suppose I have been spoiled by the good local treasures. I was expecting a lot more from this place. My dining companion and I came for breakfast, hoping for a delicious Mexican meal. This is a converted house, so the interior isn't very big, and it's a basic hole in the wall, which is not a problem for me. As for the food, the raved about beans were not special in the least. I've had much better at various taquerias around Houston. The breakfast burritos are just giant breakfast tacos. Their salsa they provide you tastes like Pace straight from the jar. My dining companion had one of the breakfast plates, and he didn't care for his much. Also, it was very pricey for what it was. Going to pass on this one.

Wow. Authentic, family friendly, quick, and oh so delicious. We recommend. This is a local spot and it was a nice break from the tourist stuff.

If I ever get back to Galveston this will be the first and last place I eat on my visit. It was THE highlight of my trip. Ana and Rodrigo cooked us the finest food we had the entire trip and made us feel like family. We drank Horchata until our bladders burst. Then they gave us more to go. I had chilaquiles with green chile sauce. YES!!!!!!! This was not just a great meal... it was a great experience. Do NOT pass up a chance to eat here. Also want to give a shout out to M&M on the strand... another superb gastronomic experience... but especially because the waiter there highly recommended Los Compas to us. Cheers!

I've tried a few things hoping I could give high stars like everyone else but I can't. The torta was terrible, dry fajita and a pitiful half slice of avocado. The breakfast burrito was just ok. The tortilla was good but the eggs were horrible and chorizo too oily.

  • Kristen S.

We came for breakfast before a day on the beach. We ordered the Grande breakfast burrito and the Calderon breakfast burrito. Both were enormous and served on giant, delicious flour tortillas! The avocado on the Calderon was very fresh, but the sausage could have been warmer and wasn't our favorite. The Grande was great but could have used more than a slice and a half of bacon, given the size. Overall, we were really pleased and would come here again for sure. We were full all day. Bathrooms were nice and clean too!

  • Rob G.

Food was definitely good. Place is worth checking out. The only issue I had was that I ordered a glass of milk for one of my kids and it was $3 bucks. I could have bought a gallon of milk for that price!

  • Lara L.

Visited due to high ratings but Breakfast was blah - I think the only good thing must be the burritos. Bland rice and beans out of a can, undercooked potatoes and truly horrible coffee. Dirty old building in a run-down area with slow service.

  • Buddy R.

The food is awesome! We brought in 8 folks in to eat and we all gave thumbs up. The Machacado breakfast was fantastic, so was the fresh Gaucamole, the Menudo, the Dmingo Burrito, Barbacoa, chips and salsa, and the manager was super friendly. I told him thanks for redeeming my soured reputation for restaurant picking in Galveston. This place exceeded all expectations. While the place is a bit unassuming like it looks like a house from the outside, the decor a bit lacking...I would come back in a heartbeat...and very often. The price tag was a bargain...who could ask more for real mexican home cooking and super friendly environment.

Stopped in and picked up breakfast "to go" on a Sunday morning. The restaurant was packed full of people or else we would have sat down to eat there. We ordered at a counter and were told the food would take about 15 minutes. We waited outside and it was done in the time she quoted. We brought it home and everything was correct and delicious. I got the Huevos Rancheros and my boyfriend got the famous grande burrito. Both portions were large and so tasty! It came with a side of delicious red hot sauce that I could not stop eating. We will come back to eat again for sure.

  • Becky A.

Great place for Mexican breakfast and lunch. Everything we have had here is very good. Note: no beer or wine and cannot BYOB. We will definitely return.

One of the best breakfast I've ever had!! Came in on Saturday for breakfast And i was right back on Sunday for more.

  • Donna S.

What a great find! Breakfast burrito was huge and tasty, and the migas a la Mexicana were on point. The staff was super friendly and the prices were very reasonable. We'll be back on our next trip to the island!

Bring you appetite it's ABSOLUTELY FILLING - scrumptious homemade flour tortillas I was a tad bit skeptical about the authenticity of this food all the way up until we received our food. THE BURRITOS (breakfast tacos) ARE HUGE!!! I got two with the idea that they'd be just like any other taco place, small, sparsely filled, lacking flavor. I was SO WRONG. this is a MUST in Galveston for breakfast. Everything was hot, fresh, and steamy when we got it. Everyone in my party of 5 finished their plates, or tried the best they could. It was enough food even for the biggest eater. The only downfall I'd say is the unknown breakfast menu. Some of the breakfast items were not listed (menudo, ham & eggs plate) and I think it should be because they both looked absolutely delicious.

    (4)
  • Peter Y.

What would I do for a Klondike bar? You mean what would I do for a Grande Burrito, because that's the real prize. And everything. I would do everything to get my hands on a Grande. Filling, delicious, cheap and satisfying. Words cannot describe how awesome their burrito is, but hopefully giving it 5 stars on the internet could.

    (5)
  • Andy E.

This place is awesome. I love Mexican food and this one ranks at the top of the list. I had huevos con chorizo Sandra had tamales both were fantastic. And the portions were massive. Big thumbs up.

    (5)
  • Scott K.

I simply was not impressed with this place. Service was poor, food was just okay and sauna was extra hot with bland flavor. I think there are far better places to eat mex in the area.

    (2)
  • Samantha M.

The breakfast burritos were giant and delicious. The building isn't the most impressive but don't judge a book by its cover!

    (4)
  • Drew S.

Great food, great people. Family owned and operated, care about their customers and make great home cooked Mexican food. My first stop when I'm back in town. The queso flameado is delicious.

    (5)
  • Daniel B.

Service was slow. Arrived at 6pm for Dinner, only 3 other tables there and it took until 7pm to get our food, they stated it was due to dinner menu having a longer cook time. Ordered appetizer that never came. Waitress ignored us after 30 mins, afraid to answer questions I guess. Taco de Calle had more onions than meat. Carne Asada was burnt and had no flavor, the chicken tacos were also without flavor. A local stated it was under new management and has gone down over the last three months. I agree, don't waste your time.

    (2)
  • Mike D.

Very good authentic Mexican food at a great price. Highly recommend for lunch. Leave yourself some time because everything is home made.

Great food and a fun place. Would come back when in Galveston next time. Owner is really good with children keeping them entertained

    (4)
  • Allison W.

Best Mexican food ever! Great and friendly staff, along with amazing food! Portion sizes were off the chart and prices were great! Delicious hot salsa as well as queso. Chimichangas & enchiladas were my favorite, but the quesadillas and tacos are great too! Pretty much anything you order here will be guaranteed delicious!

    (5)
  • Dylan C.

Awesome, quaint Mexican food and homemade tortillas. The salsa and guacamole are both great. I tried the shredded chicken enchiladas with green sauce and definitely enjoyed. It's only open until 2 pm so come early. Not dirt cheap but very reasonable. The gigantic fresh flour tortilla served on the side makes this joint an absolute winner in my book.

  • Shsron F.

Atmosphere not the greatest but food superb. The enthusiasm of the owner is contagious and makes dining fun

Holy crap these B-fast burritos are the bomb!

  • Hal R.

There are two types of people in the world: those who agree that the Grande at Los Compas is the best breakfast burrito in the world and those who are wrong.

    (5)
  • Fer R.

if you know where to look in Galveston, you find LEGIT, AUTHENTIC MEXICAN food - this is one of those places the atmosphere is not for those wanting spacious, vibrant interior with impeccable service; you go here for authenticity and FOOD so how do you know its authentic, you ask? all "authentic" Mexican eateries in Galveston can be identified by the large, made-in-house flour tortilla that taste like your grandma made it if you were fortunate enough to have that grandma - order consisted of tacos de barbacoa, plato de carne guisada y unas gorditas de chicharron - yum, yum, and yum salsa looked suspiciously liked watered down, big chain lame O salsa, one taste and that thought was immediately dismissed - no se come con los ojos - but my only complaint is when I asked for another salsa (me puede traer una salsa verde tambien?) I was told it would be extra $ - no mames highly recommend (unless you happen to LOVE Panchos or some sh*# like that), very close if you are staying in the Seawall Blvd area

  • Frankie H.

Amazing tortillas!!!! Super spicy salsa! Rice and menudo were perfect. Crispy chicken taco was great! Loved this recommendation!

    (4)
  • Lisa S.

Absolutely incredible food and service to match, I felt like family here. The outside of the place was deceiving, don't let that put you off, you must come in and experience the deliciousness! Huevos rancheros blew me away. The tortillas were warm, soft and thick...they were great for sopping up the ranchero sauce. Yummmmm!!!!!!

    (5)
  • Am E.

Went here with four people this morning.had the huevos rancheros, the grande burrito, and the Migas. So also was outstanding if you like it spicy.really friendly service.not much from the outside, but the inside sparkling clean.go if you have a chance.this is a well kept secret in Galveston.I can't believe they're only 59 reviews! It should be on everybody's to do list! Go now!

    (5)
  • Rodney A.

This is place is crazy good, breakfast tacos and menudo is awesome. Small place so don't plan on having to much room at the table. When we were here it was raining and there was standing room only but wow worth getting wet and waiting.

    (5)
  • Maghen H.

Loved it! Don't let the outside fool you, it's the best mexican food in Galveston. We ate there twice. Dinner and breakfast. Both were great. Would definitely go back if we are in town again.

    (5)
  • Mandi S.

Best Mexican Food!! While on vacation we looked on yelp and saw all the good reviews and stopped in...This food is some true Mexican food...Amazing! We came back the next day for breakfast! Must try it!!!!!!!

    (5)
  • Randi W.

Excellent food! Migas were delicious, fajitas were really good and the breakfast burritos are huge and a bargain! Will definitely be back!!! The salsa is awesome as well. Love this little hole in the wall!

  • Desiree S.

If you want breakfast tacos this is the place to go! You will not be disappointed. Everything is freshly made and the homemade tortilla is perfect. Just go!!

  • Sanja H.

This place is small, but great food and staff! Salsa was amazing and everyone in my party of 7 cleared their plates.

    (5)
  • Alex D.

Where do you always find the best food? Dives! Great food and service. Best Mexican joint in town.

    (5)
  • Daniel R.

Hands Down my favorite Mexican food on the island. Friendly staff. I did wait over 45 minutes for my To-Go breakfast burrito once. But, it was packed and I'm pretty sure someone that ordered the same thing as me 20 minutes after me via the phone just came in and took my food. I can't blame the staff for that. They could probably solve that confusion with a ticket number system for to-go orders. Otherwise, no complaints. Best chips and salsa. Some days, I downright CRAVE their Calderon breakfast burritos. Also, some of the best flautas I've ever had. Such huge portions!

    (4)
  • Joe C.

Not bad!!! I would visit again and so should you.

  • Vanessa G.

Stopped in for chorizo and eggs after getting off a cruise ship. This chorizo was top notch. Refried beans were ridiculous and the salsa was great too. Brother was happy with his giant breakfast taco (and he didn't even get chorizo in it! the horror!) I was a little bummed that they didn't make fresh corn tortillas but I realized that's not all that common I guess. They were just a vehicle for my delicious chorizo so whatever. It's a hole in the wall joint but it's clean and the service is adequate. Definitely recommend for breakfast!

  • Michael L.

I've been eating here since my Freshman year in high school. My friends and I used to ditch the school cafeteria and avoid the truancy officers to eat one of the their grande burritos! I've been eating here for 7 years and when I come home from college I always have to make a stop for their grande. Also I love their spicy sauce. I always have to ask for extra sauce for my grande.

    (5)
  • Matt W.

Amazing food! Do yourself and your family a favor and experience this delicious authentic food. The service was outstanding and everyone was so friendly. The chicken fajitas were excellent. We really enjoyed everything about our dinner!

  • Erin B.

Food was delicious! However, the servers were a little rude to us. Definitely worth stopping by.

    (4)
  • Robert B.

Eaten here about 30 times. Haven't had a bad meal yet. Yes, service is slow but you just have to factor that in. Seriously, I hope it doesn't get popular with the tourist. Would spoil something for us locals.

    (5)
  • Christy B.

We tried breakfast here (breakfast burritos, guacamole, queso). Everything we had was TERRIBLE. The "sausage" in the burrito was actually hotdog. We thought it was a joke at first. We didn't even finish our food. Just paid and walked out. Try Mi Abuelitos a couple blocks down the road.

    (1)
  • Julie P.

OMG! ! Delicious! Authentic and very friendly atmosphere. No alcohol, but family friendly atmosphere. Definitely coming back!

I'm sorry Galveston Island yelpers, you got this one wrong! Coming from Dallas, we assumed Galveston would have solid Mexican food. We came here for dinner, eager and excited to chow down. There was one other table with two people and a pretty lonely feeling. We ordered and it took another 35 mins to get our food. Ridiculous considering we ordered beef fajita nachos and Rod's chimichanga (house specialty). We're they slaying and butchering the cow out back? These items were suggested by you yelpers and the server, too. The beef tasted fine. The cheese was velvetta. The chimichanga was almost not edible. It was literally just a friend shell around chicken meat. Nothing, and i mean nothing else. The fried burrito shell on the outside was just weird... not flaky, not tasteful, just a bad chimichanga with velvetta goop covering it. The chicken on the inside was not any better and the spanish rice was definitely from a box or package. Moreover, the salsa was maybe the worst I've ever had (I know this is a bold claim, but true). It tasted exactly like pace picante mixed with shrimp cocktail sauce (I'm pretty sure this is what it was). Please don't do yourself the disservice of coming here, it was a wasted meal (and $25) on our nice little Galveston say. 2 stars, one for pity and one for the breakfast burrito. This place just should not have expanded their menu and hours for dinner and you can tell not a single employee here has pride in this restaurant.

  • Daniel T.

Our family stopped here for brunch before leaving to drive back home. The Grande and Calderon were just right. Highly recommend if you want a good meal workout a lot of frills.

Awesome Mexican breakfast! Huevos Rancheros and burritos as big as your head! Staff was great!

  • Tien Christine L.

Best breakfast tacos ever! I went during Mardi Gras weekend... Decided to try something new. My date got the enchiladas with beans and rice, I think, and he proclaimed it great! I got the Double Grande Burrito. Chorizo, beans, egg, cheese, and potato. Absolutely amazing. Food is delicious. Service is great. I live an hour away but would like to come back to Galveston just for the Double Grande Burrito. Yes! It's that good!

    (5)
  • J G.

Some of the best food you will eat at any restaurant. Super friendly staff. It's a family owned place and you are treated like part of the family. It's a must stop anytime you are in Galveston. Oh and say wasup to Alli for me when you go.

  • Andrew L.

Every Friday my family has breakfast here and it is the greatest!

  • Annette P.

A little mom and pop place not far from Sea Wall Blvd, I found it quaint and charming. I am a fan of local businesses and this little place did not disappoint. The clincher for me was their refried beans (they rival my aunt's and she is the BEST). My daughter had cheese enchiladas (very cheesey) while I had migas. It was a lot of food for the money and wait staff was extremely friendly. I was fortunate enough to find parking on the street but they could definitely use more parking.

    (4)
  • Brian B.

My family went here on the power of previous Yelp reviews, and we were very happy with everything here. This is a family owned and operated business, and everyone in the family is incredibly polite, outgoing, and do their best to make you feel welcome. Everything that we tried on the breakfast menu was great, and I really enjoyed the chimichanga when we went for dinner. The food is very reasonably priced, and you get quite a bit of food for your money. Most of the people eating there seemed to be locals, which to me is a seal of approval. I didn't try it, but the menudo seemed to be very popular. The food is all made from scratch, and their homemade tortillas are delicious. If you're going through Galveston or staying for a vacation, don't bother going to some of the "safe" chains on Seawall Blvd like IHOP. Los Compas is just a few blocks away from the beach. You won't be disappointed.

  • Jaime L.

Great local family run place to get some authentic mexican food. Definitely no frills at this place. Breakfast is by far my favorite, migas con carne, Grande burritos, and they make some of the best smoothies in town. Real fruit, and real good. 16 oz for $2.50 : Melon, Pineapple, Strawberry, Banana,Horchata, Papaya. They are now accepting all major credit cards, instead of their "cash only" policy.

    (4)
  • Scott T.

We stopped by for Breakfast. I was expecting small breakfast tacos and got large breakfast burritos :-). The food was really good, the staff was super kind, and we really enjoyed the meal. The salsa was very good!

    (4)
  • Michael M.

Had the grande breakfast burrito. It was enormous. The portion was generous and the food delicious. My wife had the chilaquiles and except for a little too much cheese she found them very well done. Great price, great food, and good full bodied coffee as well. I suggest them for a very good budget breakfast.

    (4)
  • Bryan S.

If you're longing for that hole-in-the-wall gem, look no further! Los Compas is not your run of the mill Tex-Mex chain. It's authentic Mexican comfort food at it's best. The flour tortillas are huge, homemade and out of this world. My wife judges a restaurant on it's hot sauce and gives this place two habaneros up! Almost better than the food was the neat, sweet family running it. Daughter, dad, mom, grandma and more. The papa is muy loco and super funny. If it's your birthday, get ready for quite a show!!! This will become a must-stop for our family for years to come.

  • Maria De L.

This place was great! The service was excellent, both waitresses were extremely nice and personable. The food was very good, they make it as you order, no pre-made mess here just fresh authentic ingredients. The co-owner was very pleasant and came over to greet us and make sure all was great with the food, always a great detail. We had the gorditas plate and they were delicious, big portions so we shared a plate. We also had some chile con queso (YUMMMM!) and their guacamole (YUMMMM!) as starters. We should've stopped at the gorditas but we had their sopapillas for dessert...you have to try them... Overall fantastic service and food, it will now be a stop over whenever I come back to the island :).

  • Lauren J.

DO NOT let the outside fool you. This is the best crispy chicken taco my husband and I have had in a LONG time. The salsa is addictive and SPICEY. We almost missed the place b/c it looks like a house in the middle of a neighborhood. As soon as we get back to Galveston, we are going!

  • Laurie R.

We were visiting Galveston for the Carnival Magic Inaugural Event and were wanting to try something new. We found this place on Yelp and wanted to give it a try. The staff was so nice and the food was very very good. I had the chicken nachos and it was very filling and probably the best nachos I've had!

    (5)
  • Jeremy M.

Awesome breakfast burritos! I tried to order the bigger one and the waitress asked me if I had seen one before and she was right. I ordered the regular burrito and was not disappointed. Just a word of caution though, the salsa is pretty spicy. I was the only person in my family that could eat it. The guacamole dip was very good. Great food for a great price.

  • Debra C.

This place is very good! One of the best breakfast I have had in a while ^_^

  • Danna S.

We enjoyed this place. It is a hole in the wall but the food was really good. The owner is very friendly. People raved about the salsa. It was too hot for our liking but the food was really really good.

So small you might miss it. Find it! It's worth it! Very tiny place with homemade authentic Mexican food. Breakfast and lunch only.

Wonderful Mexican food! My family loved our dinner, so we came back for breakfast twice. You can't beat the friendly, helpful staff. Family owned and run businesses are a draw for us, too. Go, eat... You will not be disappointed!

  • Janet M.

This place is not fancy by any stretch of the imagination. DO NOT LET THIS STOP YOU. The food is awesome. As good as you would find in your Mom's kitchen. The price is perfect. The service is fabulous and they go out of their way to be sure you are satisfied. The specials are superb. I can't say enough about this Mom and Pop Restaurant. A must try!!!!

While in town for my family vacation in early August, we went based on the Yelp recommendations. We were not disappointed. The food was very good. Huge burritos and spicy hot sauce. We will definitely be back when we're in town.

Wonderful local mexican taqueria located in an old converted house. They have daily lunch specials which can range from smothered mexican-style pork chops to cabrito. Breakfasts are renowned, yet simple mexican fair. It says something about a restaurant when the owners are the waitstaff. Cash only. If you want the lunch special, arrive early.

  • Ashley A.

OH EM GEE!!!!!! Yes!!!!!! This place is it!!! Authentic breakfast tacos, homemade tortillas, great salsa, hole-in-the-wall. Everything screams "perfect!" I had the grade burrito and couldn't even finish it- I wanted to though, and tried! It's literally as big as your face made with delicious, mouth watering, amazingness. Go here. Eat breakfast. Be happy. Tip: parking is on the street. Look for the sign when you get close to know where it is. Worth it.

My other neighborhood burrito spot. High quality problem to have for a breakfast burrito connoisseur. My personal favorite... The Calderon with an ice cold horchata!

  • Rose K.

I forgot that grande in Spanish means Large or big...the portions here are just that!!! :) Decided to try some place new and found this hidden gem. The parking is off the street and the building is easily missed if you're not paying attention. So we missed it the first time and had to circle the block. Everything is so fresh and tasty. The owners are very sweet and sociable to everyone. They have so many regulars as it seemed every person who entered after us were greeted by name. Our group tried the chilaquiles, grande burrito w/bacon, and grande burrito with out bacon. And we shared a large guacamole. Something to note though. *They do not put out tortilla chips until after 11 a.m*. Kinda bummed as we found that out after the guacamole was delivered to the table. It was 10:30 when we were served. Besides that everything was delicious. Can't wait to try this place again and try something different.

  • Larry J.

Found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. I'm glad we did. After circling the block a couple times trying to find it we realized it was right in the middle of the block. We all had the breakfast grande burrito and it was delicious. The portion size and price were exceptional! I can eat a lot of food and was unable to finish the burrito.

This place has a fantastic Mexican breakfast, and the tortillas are made in house. The restaurant is simple, clean and casual, and their menu features traditional taqueria food for breakfast, lunch, and I assume dinner. My husband and I had the migas, and the chorizo and eggs. Both were tasty, and legit. I also saw people eating large bowls of what I assume was menudo. The breakfast plates come with refried beans, crispy potatoes, and hand-made flour tortillas that melt in your mouth. The salsa is pretty standard, but good. The coffee is coffee. The service is efficient, and to the point. One nice touch we experienced was when the owner, or manager, or chef, or some important person pictured in many framed photos in the wall, came out and checked in on everyone. She spent a little extra time talking to some of her regulars in perfect English and Spanish depending on the regular. I spend plenty of time in little, delicious taquerias in Austin, but if this one were in my town it would immediately become my favorite I think. If the ambiance was a little more festive, and exciting I would likely give this place 5 stars.

  • Melissa C.

the owner is soo nice. love his character and his service. very small neighborhood place. i had the calderon breakfast burrito...it had weiners--i think were listed as "sausage", shredded cheese, re-fried beans, tomato's and fresh sliced avacado ---it would of been great IF the sausage would of been better...to me, it was like a grilled weeney. i asked for salsa--they dont give you any or chips while waiting...salsa was good. tasted homemade my friend had the cheese enchilada plate---meh, reminded me of a frozen el patio dinner--she didnt like it either SORRY, los campas...too many other choices for mexican food on the island

I had read reviews of this place before our recent trip to Galveston and had marked it as a "maybe." So glad we tried it! This was the best breakfast that I've had in years....maybe ever! The place is very unassuming. We drove past it twice before realizing that it was the restaurant we were looking for. (It looks like a small, brick home) As tourists, it would not have been a place we would have probably stopped in (not on the seawall, not very noticeable when driving by) but I am thrilled that we did! I had a breakfast burrito and my boyfriend had a breakfast plate. The service was quick and friendly, the prices were reasonable, and the food was superb. It had been a long time since I had a truly good tortilla - and these topped the list. Whenever we're back in Galveston, we'll be stopping by here, for sure. If you are a tourist - do yourself a favor and take a chance on this place. It's legit and you will not be disappointed.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
