Had the citrus beef. It was over fried and chewy. The salad (lunch) had a strange warm peanut dressing or super sour vinagarette choice.

Friendly and welcoming staff, a Happy Hour and an excellent salmon fillet in green curry. Life is good.

Whenever I'm too tired to cook after a long day's work, River Spice Thai is the place to go for me if I'm in the mood for something Asian. I love their green curry with chicken, the seafood soup with mushrooms that has that pungent lemon taste, and the ginger salmon, which makes the pad Thai look so boring and unoriginal. I love the ambiance with the dim lights and the waterfall which gives it a bit of a cool vibe. If you want to go there for happy hour, better bring your own drinks because this is a BYOB.

Can't get past the amazing bento box style lunch. The Thai Beef Salad, Spring Rolls are must dos. The service is great, fast, friendly. They know me when I order.

Excellent food, excellent service! Been looking for a good local Thai restaurant since falling in love with the flavour while working on the west coast. I gave this a try last night with a date. The service was great, the menu variety was impressive. Our orders arrively quickly, was hot and tasted great. As good or better thn anything I had had since I came back to Dallas! I would definitely recommend this place!

literally the best curry in all of dallas!!! cozy atmosphere, clean environment, great staff, authentic thai food. best kept secret, hidden treasure, damn good food. seriously, you will regret not eating at thai spice.

Great food and great service. I was surprised that me and my date were the only ones in the place. There are not many great Thai places around but this one is worth the visit. Ordered chicken sate, salmon with green curry, and Tom kha noodle soup with chicken. All very good.

Friendly enough service. Ordered a lo mein which wasn't very spicy despite designating it a level five. Also ordered a curry which was just meh. Around $26 for both to-go. I really wish that Zenna Cafe had a location this far north. In the meantime, I think I'll just drive the 35 minutes next time I want thai instead of this place. Not that it was horrible. It was just "okay." The location, and the nice interior were the best things going for it.

I like this restaurant, very modern and trendy. The food is great, any special request on your order. They will try to accommodate you to fit your taste. We had Larb beef salad, was OK. The papaya salad is awesome, becareful on the spice though. we also had fried calamari and pad thai.

I've finally found the jungle curry I've been craving for 6 months now! Hallelujah! The prices were very reasonable, the menu was extensive, and the food was delicious!! I ordered the jungle curry level 3, perfectly spicy and great flavor. My husband ordered the peanut chicken, which was sweet and a little spicy. We also ordered a side of the veggie/tofu drunken noodles, wonderfully spicy and great flavor. Overall we had a wonderful experience, and the service was spot on as well!

There are 2 Thai restaurants I REALLY like in Dallas. Sawadika being one, and River Spice being the other. Everytime I try a new Thai restaurant, I have to try either the pad kee mao or pad thai. I think River Spice has the best pad thai in town. In fact, I don't think I've had a bad dish here. If you're looking for good Thai food, this place is worth going to.

Our daughter arranged a delivery for us so we could dine at home poolside and relax. They were very helpful to her in getting the order correct and in delivering on time to the minute. The food was wonderful - we enjoyed the Tempura shrimp appetizer, and the Shrimp, Scallops and Snow Peas was a light, perfectly balanced dish with a delicate sauce - exactly right. I had the Pad Thai (one of my fav dished) and enjoyed it (this being a dish everyone seems to do slightly differently). It's obvious they care about their food and service and creating a wonderful experience - not always easy to do in the restaurant business but I highly recommend.

The food was pretty tasty. When I walked in it was really slow, so I was greeted and helped right away, and the service was very attentive. Got the yum nua (beef salad), and some thai places put too much lemon grass in it. This was just right, and have a very savory flavor to it. The sticky rice that came with it was a very good compliment to the meal as well.

Stopped by again tonight, food was pretty good, and guess what? They have a Tuesday and Thursday dinner special for $6.50, and it's a ton of food for a great price. I got the Pad Kee Mow for $6.50....seriously you can't get a lunch portion for $6.50, let alone a huge dinner portion. Oh and funny story, the lady totally remembered me from my last visit a few months ago. She remembered that I wanted cashews in my pineapple fried rice HAHAHA (read previous review)

I'd say a solid 3.5 here. This place is BYOB so that is totally cool. This place doesn't have nearly the same hole in the wall charm as Thai Soon in Richardson which is my favorite Thai place. There is also no corking fee which is nice. Prices for entrees is normal. My entree was $9. I had the pineapple fried rice with tofu and it was tasty! Lots of cashews, fried crispy tofu, and big chunks of pineapple, it was definitely one of my favorites. I wish I had asked for a bit of spice though. The location is nice and convenient. I definitely would try a lunch special. The decor is modern- waterfalls, candles, that whole bit. It made it extra romantic for me and my co-worker. Our boyfriends would have been proud. Rawrrrrr.

This is my favorite Thai place in the Dallas area. Its not very big but the decor is really nice. The food is excellent and they provide really friendly service. The prices are fair and the portions are a good size. Right now its BYOB which is very cool but they are applying for a liquor license right now so enjoy it while it lasts. Overall this place is great place to eat. Excellent food with great prices and service, Definitely check it out. Favorite Dishes: Thai Basil Fried Rice Papaya Salad Pad Thai

Very tasty, made to order, fresh, and good ambiance. The menu is very large considering the intimacy of this restaurant. You won't see it from the highway, but it is in a well attended well lit outside mall. I liked the service and interior very much - not too dark, but nice enough for an occasion. I would be thrilled if there were more places like this all over. I literally stumbled in and will definitely return.

Excellent coconut curries. Spicy is actually spicy without killing the flavor. Friendly service and pleasant atmosphere makes for an excellent lunch spot.

Food was not impressive. Service was NOT impressive. I came in for a to-go order.. The waitress rushed my order.. being completely rude and when I specifically asked for the spiciest of all spicy, there was not even a seed of pepper in my pad woon sen. I was willing let it slide if the food tasted somewhat decent... the Pad Woon Sen was BLAND as bland could be. Let's just say I won't be coming back... ever.

Great Thai! The best ginger scallops. Spices were perfect and the pad see eaw was amazing. The dishes are a huge size so you can literally take the leftovers for lunch. Highly recommend!

So this was my first visit to Thai Spice and I wasn't sure what to expect. The sign is kind of difficult to see from the road and the location is nestled in a difficult to find area, somewhat. The place is gorgeous on the inside. Very nice. ...anyway. I'll keep this short and simple. The service was fantastic. Everyone was very attentive but not irritatingly attentive. It was just right. I ordered the Chili Mint Chicken and some veggie spring rolls. From the first bite of the side salad with peanut sauce, I knew I'd come to a great place. The tastes from the salad along with the flavors of the peanut sauce were perfection. The plate was cool too ;) None of the flavors were over-powering and everything was just right. My spring rolls came out next and I've had a few in my life. These were the best to date. They had great balanced flavors and again, nothing overpowered anything else. You could taste and enjoy each ingredient. I was very happy with these spring rolls. My chili mint chicken came next and wow... seasoned perfectly. I don't know what else to say about it other than wow. I was definitely pleased with everything so far. Next came the mango and sticky rice dessert. I don't know how I'd never had this before anywhere else so I don't really have a benchmark to compare it to. Nevertheless, all I can say is holy cow! This dessert was awesome! Well-balanced, flavorful and fun to eat. I'm truly impressed with this place. I didn't want to finish my tea because I didn't want to rinse these fantastic flavors out of my mouth. I can't wait to go back. I'm not easily impressed but this place did it. I hope each visit is as exciting. Do yourself a favor and give this place a try. You won't regret it.

The restaurant is okay but as stars suggest, I have experienced better. I went for lunch. The service was good but price point is quite higher. The food is not as good as the price they charge. I have had much better thai food in Addison area with couple of $$ less per dish charges. I wouldn't pay this much.

  • Montey F.

My fiance is half Thai so she loves to frequent thai restaurants. We come to this location every once and awhile since it is close to where we live. She usually gets the thai iced tea (which they have been out of twice now) and chicken/rice (kom men gai). One time the entree was good, the other time not so much. This restaurant has the potential to be better but right now their problem is consistency. The decor is nice and the service is attentive at times.

We ate the lunch special. I had the pad sew (flat noodles) with chicken and my wife had the tom kha noodles. The flat noodles was flavorful but was lacking some spice, even though I ordered medium spice. No biggie, I added some spice to it myself. The waitress was really nice and my water was refilled 4x during our lunch. We will be back.

This is probably closer to a 3.5 star review, but I just can't make myself move to 4. I was worried when I drove up to River Spice because there were no cars in the parking lot. They had signs on the windows about being selected part of "D Magazine" Best of in 2003. I really wanted curry, so I decided to give it a try. I started out with a Thai Tea. Served in a tall glass, it was a perfect blend of caffeine and sugar. This is exactly what I was going to need to get thru this meal. I ordered the pineapple chicken curry, and before my food had even arrived I was regretting not ordering it to go. Open Letter To The Lady With The Two Screaming Kids: Unless you just gave your 4 yr old son and 2 yr old daughter a red Thai Chile Pepper, there is no excuse for the noise they were making. Yes, you tried the ... be quiet and I will order dessert tactic. But they never got quiet. And you STILL ordered them Fried Bananas & Ice Cream. Um, WTF? The pineapple chicken curry had a perfect heat level. Just enough for me to occasionally sneak a sip of my Thai Tea. I was, however, slightly disappointed in the lack of veggies in said curry. Green Bell Peppers and Carrots. That was it. Where are the button mushrooms? Where are the onions? Where are the Red Bell Peppers? Lemongrass? Come on, work with me here. I ate about half of my meal and boxed the rest up to go home. Leftovers were just as good, yet the atmosphere was wonderful as there are no screaming brats in my living room. I asked for a to go menu. I will probably try more things on their menu... but because the restaurant's dining room is so small... from now on, everything I order will be To-Go as I do not deal well with Screaming Kids. It was so bad, I went straight to Baskin Robbins. FYI... GuideLive states that this establishment has Beer and Wine, but there were paper signs all over the place saying that they were now BYOB (dated July 2007).

I had a quick lunch at River Spice yesterday - I arrived late - the group I was with was already seated. No problem - I took my seat & the group's food was already starting to come out as I sat down. I was able to order Pad Thai, medium hot with Chicken & a Diet Coke without the privilege of having a menu. Points for standard Thai fare. I didn't like that their Coke products were in a can, cause that means no refills. The appetizer soup that came with the meal had fresh tasty mushrooms floating in some sort of other broth. I don't know what it was, but I fished out the mushrooms & ate them - that was the best part of the soup. The Pad Thai was a heaping mound of noodles and chicken - not much on the bean sprouts. Overall it was good, nicely seasoned - not too hot. I can't say that I'll be back this way again, but if I am, I wouldn't turn down a lunch at River Spice.

I had asked for the catfish dish with the green beans and eggplant and red curry paste sauce. When the waitress brought the dish out it was clearly the tilapia dish with bok choy and brocolli with basil sauce. I immediately asked about the mistake and instead of coming out and saying so, they insisted that the fish was catfish and insisted the sauce was red curry paste. I could see and taste basil in the sauce. Instead, they talked down to me and asked if eggplant is what I wanted and that they forgot to put it in. I was very disappointed because the reason I came all this way to try this restaurant was to try this particular dish that caught my attention from their website. Had they shown more grace I would have considered coming back to try the dish.

My mom, brother and I ate here the other night. The waitress was very friendly. My mom got the Spicy Beef Salad, my brother got a fried fish in curry sauce plate (I don't remember what it was called), and I got the Chicken Pad Thai. We each sampled a little of each others' dishes, and they were all very good. I seasoned it by asking for some sliced lime and hot sauce to sprinkle on top of it. That gave it the perfect touch. I can easily say that this was one of the best Pad Thais i've ever had.

Surprised by the mediocre reviews - I found this to be the best Thai in the north Dallas quadrant, and I would say 2nd overall. It seems like they do things slightly different than all the other Thai restaurants - hard to articulate, but I really love it. Their seafood always seems plentiful and fresh on the dishes!

The Dallas Observer says "Best Thai Restaurant 2003". The atmosphere is modern, casual, and charming with half-booth seating throughout. The waterfall near the entryway sets a relaxing tone and the lighting is low and comfortable. I ordered the vegetable spring rolls and Chicken Pad Kee Mow, and the spices within the main dish were authentic and flavorsome. The price point is accurate and the wait staff attentive. BYOB.

One of the best "Rare Gem" dining establishments in all of Dallas. The atmosphere as well as the food are simply refined and delicious. They have 5 spice levels of curry. My girlfriend and I always get level five. I'm 100% satisfied every time. If you like Thai this is the best spot in North Dallas. PS - one of the cleanest places I've been. Also a big shout out to the friendly customer service oriented staff. Nick from Thai Spice is an amazing person and always great company.

I went here for lunch and got the beef pad see ew with thai potstickers to-go. I was very disappointed in the potstickers. The potstickers looked appealing. However, it was oily, mainly dough, and stuffing inside was mediocre in taste and little in ratio with the dough. The beef pad see ew was less than average and the beef itself was slightly on the chewy side. I will have to say the salad that came with it was fresh and the peanut sauce was pretty good. I would have to say my food is 2.5 stars. I wouldnt recommend eating the pad see ew here nor the potstickers. I wont go back to eat the pad see ew or the potstickers but I may be back to try something else. The person who took my phone order and later rang me up was friendly and food was ready in a timely manner.

I'm trying out some few different Thai places near my apartment since I'm new to this area. As far as taste the food is ok. I'm a huge fan of papaya salad and tom yum soup and honestly, those fell a bit short for me. The papaya salad taste of lime. Yes, just lime. Where's the fish sauce? Or the plum sugar? I had the spice at the highest level and it was more of a medium spice for me. Maybe it's because I have a high tolerance for spice. I like to sweat and cry with my spicy food! Like mama said, "that's how you know it's good and authentic." The Tom yum had a good taste. Again, more sour than sweet. It's suppose to balance the dish. The service was ok. Nothing over the top. He was polite and enthusiastic. The lighting in here is dark. Maybe it's because they kept the blinds shut. I can hear that the workers are Thai so I have a bit of high expectations when it comes to authenticity of the recipes. This wouldn't be a "must go to" place for me. Maybe for a quick bite.

I've never liked Thai food much, but this place changed my mind. I think I just did a really good job of ordering. Here's what you want: the green veggie stir fry, with ginger sauce and chicken. Light, refreshing, tasty, and filling. I could eat this every day for a month before I got sick of it, I think. The flavors were just phenomenal, and for the first time ever eating at an Asian restaurant, I felt like I was eating something relatively healthy. My husband ordered the shrimp and chicken bassil, which also was fantastic. Again, the flavors were amazing. His had a little bit of heat (he ordered "level 2" on a scale from 1-5), and he said he would make it less spicy if he ordered it again. This guy likes spicy, so that's saying something. My father-in-law ordered his yellow curry dish at a "level 3" and barely could eat it. They don't mess around with the spices here, because these guys are both highly tolerant of spicy food. We started with the crab and avocado spring roll, which I actually would pass on next time...it's too heavily fried. The crab in it is really good, though -- it's real crab. We also started with the potstickers, which were delicious. The servings are ample, and even though the waiter told us that they're individual sizes, you could easily share one if you don't have a large appetite. However, I will admit that I completely cleaned my plate. And yes, I'm a girl. So, make of that what you will. I'm really, REALLY close to rating this place five stars, except that I can hardly bring myself to give five stars to a place in a strip mall that fronts the tollway and has a TV playing over the bar that sits at the front of the restaurant. Yes, I am shallow and silly. For what this place is, it's definitely five stars. In the broader scheme of the restaurant world, it's a solid four stars. Does that make sense?

Be sure to take advantage of their Happy Hour! The drink specials are tasty and reasonable. I visited on a Wednesday evening, and it wasn't overly busy. We received attentive service from our server. He did an excellent job explaining in detail some of the menu options and describing the flavors of some of the dishes. The food was very delicious. I stuck to my tried and true--Thai Fried Rice with Chicken--but increased my usual spice level. And I was thoroughly pleased. I will say, the water fountain/waterfall they have running as soon as you enter the place, is a tad bit noisy. Taking into consideration that conversations were being had at various tables in the dining area, bar, and the TVs were going also (although muted). If I'm in the area and hungry, I would definitely consider stopping in Thai Spice. This is a bit of a drive from downtown for me.

Tried it on a lark...and the service was good, the food was great and overall was a great experience. Thought it was a little pricey, but in the end I would return. While we did not like the duck, the Panang Beef and the Pad Thai were hits. The appetizers were the best part of the meal and dessert was really good...the fried banana was awesome. Finally, when I asked for it spicy I thought they really represented it well... Great place.

I had high hopes for this place. We ordered delivery. Super fast!!! Said it'd be there in 45 min and it ended up only taking about 20! Unfortunately... The lady who took my order apparently didn't know what being "vegan" means. I told her I'm vegan and asked what the best curry would be. She said the red curry. Then I ordered the udon noodle stirfry. She said with chicken? I told her no I'm vegan and don't eat animals. Sooooo I got udon noodles with tofu, but red curry with..... Chicken. I gave it to my daughter. Womp womp. Oh! And be careful with how spicy you order things. I usually go with 3/5 when places ask, but I did this same here with the curry and it was unbearably hot!

3.5 stars . . . but rounded up for their great lunch special and good service I had 2 Groupons here that I had to use right before they were expiring so came here twice in 1 week. (food rating is 1-5 with 5 being the best) 1st experience here I wasn't impressed with our order. BF & I shared the crispy spring rolls appetizer which was okay (3/5) . Then I had the Pad See Ew, and it was only average (3/5). What also turned me off, was the high prices for dinner. My noodle dish was higher than average compared to other Thai places. 2nd experience during lunch was better. Their lunch special gives you the most bang for your buck. For my lunch combo I got 2 fried pot stickers (4/5) , tom yum soup (4/5) , and shrimp & chicken basil (5/5). I would come back here again, mainly for their great lunch specials!

We love Thai Spice! It is our go to Asian delivery spot. They are very fast to deliver and the food is always hot and delicious. We love their Crispy Chicken, Pad Kee Mow, Pad Thai and Wonton & Tom Kha soups. Their curry and fried rice is super spicy so beware and order down a level unless you really love spicy food! We have tried other places that deliver & nothing compares to Thai Spice!

Went for lunch on Friday at 12:15pm, order was taken at 12:40pm. The guy took the ordered disappeared, later found he went to deliver food and after couple of reminders to one waitress they got the food at 1:33pm, almost 1.5 hrs after we arrived the restaurant. Came to know the guy who took the order, left the order slip near his computer and never took it to kitchen. The food was half cooked, shrimp or chicken was not cooked at all. Bad customer service with a bad attitude. Food was below average. Will never go and will never recommend anyone.

Love this place. I use to frequent thai star off of Midway, but it became overcrowded and the quality of food seemed to slip due to this. Searched for an alternative and found Thai Spice! Excellent food and 5 stars means 5 stars on the spice level!

Thai Spice aka. Thai Spicyyyyy Came here to celebrate padre's day with my parents. We started off with the papaya salad. It definitely did not look presentable or pretty but was surprisingly good. The papaya was fresh, crunchy and had the right amount of seasoning. The papaya flavor wasn't overwhelmed by limes like most other papaya salads I've had. We also took advantage of the half off appetizers for being there before 7PM, and got the crab and avocado egg roll (waiter's recommendation). These rolls are very similar to kona grill's avocado rolls, but with crabs and delicious green sauce that these rolls sat on top. Unfortunately, we skipped on the rest of the appetizers because nothing else sounded interesting enough. The chicken tom yum soup hot pot was delicious. It wasn't too sweet or sour and had a good amount of chicken and, my favorite, straw mushrooms. The last dish was a seafood pad see mao. This portion for this was huge and it was still fairly tasty despite some flaws. You can tell there was MSG, but which Asian restaurant doesn't use it? The noodles were too broken and greasy, the scallops were tasteless but tender and the squid was a bit chewy, I didn't get any shrimp because there were only 2 and I gave them to my parents. With that said they gave a lot of food for 3 people. Level of spiciness: I asked for a 4/5 on my papaya salad and the waiter recommended a 3 b/c a 4 is too spicy, and we might not be able to handle it. Good thing I listened to his advice because my parents thought the 3 was very spicy already. I, myself love the challenge, so next time I'll definitely get on that level. The tom yum soup was also a 3 and it's like a 5 in many other Thai restaurants. So beware when ordering the level of spicy. Overall, this place is 3.5 stars +0.5 for the outstanding service (from both waiters), the food came out fast (granted we were the only one there at 6PM), and the portions were generous for reasonable prices.

This is my favorite Thai place to go to because they have all the usual Thai regulars on the menu along with some specialty entrees. I love fish and I highly recommend the tilapia dish. their Tom yum soup is my go to comfort food when it gets cold.

Me and some co-workers called in a delivery order for lunch. They were accommodating to take several separate orders and payments on the same delivery. They have some lunch combo specials and still give you lots of food - a big serving that can serve as 2 meals really. Spicy goes 1-5. Being my first time, I went with a 4 (i like it hot). It had a good kick to it. I think that 4 will be my number here. They are able to put together the order per special requests as well. One guy wanted pork with his pad thai and that was not a problem. I wanted woon sen noodles and that was no problem either. Neither were up-charged. I also subbed the lunch combo side no charge. I'm putting this place on my go-to lunch ordering list (hey, I should make a Yelp list for that!). No extra delivery fee but be sure to tip your carrier :)

Hello hellooooo this is the best Thai food I had. The owners come to my restaurant to eat and they invited me to visit them. Some of you will think I'm over reacting but go try this food and you will be amazed of the cleaningness and the food.

One recommendation I would like to give to the owners/cooks here is....please cut your ingredients (vegetables) smaller or thinner. I actually prefer my ingredients chunky in general but it is way too big here even for me. Maybe I just got unlucky but I've experienced this with several of their dishes, especially their curry dishes. It's one thing for the veggies to be sliced thin but kept long/wide or diced in a square like shape but they cut their ingredients thick and big (sounds dirty aha). For example, the carrot chunks were ginormous in curry dishes and the red onions and pickles for the Khao Soi were too big....it looks somewhat sloppy/ unappetizing and it's actually somewhat inconvenient to eat.. I was also disappointed they used really thin noodles that are like angel hair pasta thick (or maybe slightly thicker) for the Khao Soi. I've had Khao Soi at other places and they all used thicker flat noodles (not as thick as pad see ew but for pad thai), both for the fried one and non-fried one. I've googled Khao Soi for a picture and I've seen a few pics pop up with the thinner noodles, but it tastes so much better when they are the thicker flat noodles. Besides those two factors thus far, this is a pretty solid place for Thai food. I've only ordered to-go and delivery here, but service has always been decent. Haven't tried any of the specialty dishes but I've tried some of the curry dishes and noodle dishes and they are all pretty good with good flavors without being too salty. The Tom Kha soup is really good here. They do not play around with the level of spiciness here. I usually get level 3-4 at most Thai places and then sometimes add more Sriracha sauce, (3 usually gives a nice kick and 4 is when it actually slows down my eating process a bit and I find myself reaching for water often but I'm not struggling or anything...I can handle spicy food pretty well) but the 3 here is spicyyyyyy. I would say that a 3 here is more like a 4 at other places. The lunch special has a LOT of food but the options that comes with them that I"ve tried so far are not the tastiest I've had. The crab cakes were okay but the summer rolls were below average.

We ordered take-out from this place for a few times, and decided to stop by for lunch today (on Saturday). Wow, what an excellent find! 1) Lunch specials are served on Saturday as well, with 17 combo options. Yeah! I ordered Green Curry w/ Tofu + vegetarian Spring Roll (Combo 16), and hubby ordered Pad Kee Mow w/ Shrimp + chicken Spring Roll (Combo 2). Lunch specials are served with soup or salad; I chose a House Salad, and hubby ordered Wonton Soup. At $9.95 each (shrimp add $2), the portion was huge and it was excellent value! (see pictures) 2) The food was excellent! We really enjoyed everything, from appetizer to desserts. Even the vinaigrette dressing for my salad got an interesting Thai twist. The food was full of aroma and spices. Yum! 3) Service was great as well. Our waiter was cheerful and attentive, constantly checking for our needs, re-filling water and tea, and bringing slices of lemon I requested quickly. Well, if I must find faults, I wish they would offer brown rice as a free option as part of the entree (rather than at an extra charge), and would serve filtered water (rather than tap water); places serving filtered water always impressed me and got a bonus point in my rating! Overall, we really liked this place, and will add Thai Spice to our rotation list for dining out. :)

(5 out of 5) Food; great standard Thai fare. Green curry chicken is full of herbs, flavor, and spice. Spring rolls are light, fluffy, and crispy. You may order steamed noodles or rice with your lunch special. Their Chinese dishes are O.K. Where they really shine are their Thai dishes. The dishes are extremely spicy, so be sure to order your dishes mild. (5 out of 5) Service; What sets a superb customer service business apart from the pack is how they'll handle a situation that is out of the ordinary. Their chef made a minor boo boo once and I called to tell the manager. He immediately apologized and asked when we were going to come back. I told him. The day I was supposed to come back, he called me just before I left my house and asked me what I wanted to order. When I arrived, he had the food hot and ready just as I was arriving and it was perfect the second time. (5 out of 5) Atmosphere; Futuristic looking place kinda reminds me of the restaurants in Star Trek. (5 out of 5) For excellent service, good Thai food in an atmosphere that's out of this world, be sure to visit Thai Spice!

One of our favs & its in the neighborhood. Panang beef is excellent, the BEST that I've found in Dallas. I order w/ wide flat rice noodles instead of rice. Everything on the menu is good. But when ordering fish (grilled) let them know not to over cook it. My only complaint. Try a Lycee Martini or Mango Martini. Jimmy always helps us, super nice. Their spice scale is on the Spicer side. I like spicy but I order my dishes: 2 or 3. Plenty spicy.

Not a bad place to check-out if in the area. We met some friends here and enjoyed our dining experience so no complaints. The food tastes good; nothing super creative or new but the good, back-to-basics approach to Thai food is appreciated. TIP: You could bring kids here; however, the place is a bit small so I would avoid pushing a stroller through the place.

Great little place! Decor is modern, clean and cozy. Service was awesome, granted I am here post lunch rush. Thai dumplings were really good, as was my yellow curry(spice level 4 out of 5). They serve my favorite Thai beer, Singha, and that was the cherry on top of a fine lunch experience. Will try at dinner in the near future.

Outstanding - one of our favorite thai locations in Dallas - The Hot Pot Chicken Coconut soup is the best - All curry dishes are outstanding however, they rate the HEAT scale a little different - get 1 and work you way up. Not one negative - a must go to

Great food, nice people. Always satisfied with the entrees that aren't greasy like some other restaurants.

I ordered delivery last night and the food was just ok. There are a lot of other thai restaurants that are a lot better. I got the pad kee mao and crab avocado spring rolls since it got such good reviews on here, but I was very disappointed. The pad kee mao had a weird flavor and I could barely taste any heat even though I ordered it spicy level 5 which is the highest. Again, yelpers made it seem that their spice levels were good, but this is just another thai restaurant that dumbs down their spice levels. Also, the pricing on their food was a little higher than most thai restaurants and their portions are a little smaller. That wouldn't be a deal breaker for me but their food was also not very tasty and not spicy enough. Very disappointed! A couple positives for this restaurant is their customer service is good and the delivery time was very quick. I might have to go back to red curry thai for delivery, even with their longer delivery times and order mishaps, because their food is better, spicy and a little bit cheaper.

This restaurant is sorta hidden along a strip of stores and restaurants, but the inside is ambient, lightly dimmed, and extremely presentable. Service was continuously good, especially catering to my family who is all vegetarian. Everyone got a serving of tom yum soup which was so delicious! A little bit on the salty side however. Food took a while to come out, slower than what was expected. As for the dishes: - Pad thai lunch special with chicken sate: The sate was really good with the peanut/coconut sauce they had. The pad thai wasn't too sweet which being too sweet is always my biggest critique but was also a little bit too watery. However, it was good! - Pad see ew lunch special with Thai potstickers: Thai potstickers were SO good. It tastes like dim sum in a way, especially with the sauce. The pad see ew was pretty ordinary. The noodles weren't very firm so possibly slightly overcooked? - Green curry lunch special with vegetable tempura: We ordered it on a spicy level of 1 and it was still extremely spicy! Not the best curry we've had. - Pineapple cashew fried rice: Pretty good fried rice although you can't really taste any of the pineapple or cashews so essentially, you're just eating normal fried rice. Still pretty good though. - Yellow curry fried rice: It did not taste like how I imagined it to taste but it had a unique flavor to it that was just a little irresistible. Overall, portions were very large and an extremely nice place to dine. A little bit on the pricey side for me, but it's a place I'm willing to come back again!

Our office team eats at Thai Spice a couple times a week, either in the restaurant or by deliver - Nick and his folks are great! Food is the best Thai that we have found, and trust me we have tried almost all Thai places in the North Dallas corridor. We highly recommend it. PS: Don't get the Spice level 5 unless you REALLY like spicy lol. The Level 3 is about the highest any of us can go

Excellent everything! And when they say spicy, they mean it. Great server/manager too! Very nice and personable. Definitely coming back! This place used to be called something else but now under new management.

I been here twice and I am impress! Really good thai food and its quite spicy. You would want to tone down from your usual spice level. It's pretty inside and clean. I will definitely be back for more!

Thai Spice is a hidden gem within a busy strip mall off the tollway. In order to get to the restaurant you need to pass through the gauntlet of burger joints, frozen yogurt, and sushi restaurants. I assure you though, the journey is well worth it. It had been a good six months since my last visit to Thai Spice and somehow the manager still remembered my name and immediately exclaimed ecstatically when he saw me, "Hello Linn! We have your beer now!" (Chang beer) Indeed they did. Not only did he go out of his way to get my beer, he stocked up on all their merchandise. Chang bottle opener, Chang cups, Chang flyers, he was all Chang'd out!!! As usual, the food was top notch. I had their rendition of drunken noodles at the highest level of spice (level 5) accompanied by a glass of Chang beer. The food was perfectly cooked, timed appropriately, and absolutely delicious. The decor and ambiance allows for a quiet intimate setting. I would highly recommend Thai Spice among all other Thai restaurants in the Dallas area. Your trip to seek this hidden gem will be well rewarded.

These people are the best for so many reasons. The lunch specials are a great deal. You get a spring or summer roll, a salad or soup and your lunch for less than $10. The food is consistently excellent. The employees remember us and they always have top-notch service. They even delivered to us during the ice storm of 2013! Our favorite dishes are the veggie spring rolls (the dipping sauce is great!), pad kee mow, red curry, and panang chicken. They also have very good happy hour specials. Needless to say, we are regulars here.

Actually now called Thai Spice (the name changed just recently), this is one of my three favorite thai places in DFW (the others being Samui and Wai Wai Kitchen). Of course this place now gets most of my business since I moved away from Wai Wai and Samui is just too expensive for proper takeout. Pineapple curry with chicken is hands down my favorite dish, and I can barely force myself to order anything else when I come here. The pad kee mow is also fantastic, and I've heard good things about the pad thai, though I'm not generally a fan of that dish. They'll spice your food how you want it, but they are a little inconsistent when it comes to mild, medium, or hot spiced. Use a 1-5 rating and you will hopefully have better results. If you run out of rice they will bring you more at no charge, which is always a plus for taking leftovers home. Inside is charming and suitable for a nice dinner out. It's small, but there are a few comfy booths and the decor is sophisticated. I've never had a problem with the waitstaff. My only complaint is that the prices are a little steep. This place is not as nice as Samui and yet I can't get takeout for less than $11 (and that's one entrée). That's the only thing that makes Thai Spice more of a special occasion and not a once-a-week place.

Great food, service, and atmosphere. My husband loved the Chang beer and the crab avocado rolls were awesome! Beware of the spice, our super friendly waiter did advise us that they are one of the spiciest places around, I had a 1.5 and the hubby a 2. We've both decided on a 1 next time and we like spicy!

The sign very much deceiving. Given the signage is like a post office with the red and blue on the front gave me the idea that this place could be bad. Proved me wrong. Which is great since we live so close. Today, I walked in was greeted by a nice Asian guy that almost looked like me. Even matching plugs (his were larger) and faux hawk minus 6 years. WTF! I like this place already! Its like they cloned a mini me! I worked in restaurants when i was a child as well. zomgz. I talked to the asian-looka-like-me-dude (A.L.L.M.D.): Me: I'd like to order takeout. A.L.L.M.D: Would you like a menu? Me: I have this takeout menu is it the same? A.L.L.M.D: Yes that will work. What would you like? Me: First time here (I always say i'm new sometimes you get free shit or you get treated better if you're new), what's good here in terms of entrees? A.L.L.M.D: Our most popular dishes are shrimp and chicken basil, our fried rice dishes and we have noodles. The top noodle dishes are the pad thai or the pad kee mow? Me: What about noodles? Which would you get? A.L.L.M.D: Depends on my mood. Today i'd probably get the Pad Kee mow, drunken noodles and make it very mild. Me: Sounds good i'll get that and fried shrimp rolls. Got my food. Took only 10 minutes. Sat by the bar. They have a weird water fall. If you eat here don't sit near there. I had to pee. Got home and i was starving. Food smelled great. Entree Portions was just enough for two. Rachel and i shared the Pad Kee Mow. Surprised that they even were smart enough to cut holes in our fried shrimp appetizers so they'd stay crunchy. +1 for detail. Shrimp apps were just a really long fried shrimp wrapped in spring roll rice wrappers and deep fried. Not too bad. Lacked seasoning. It was very crunchy and shrimpy. Pad kee mow was tasty. It reminded me of har fun (cantonese dish). Pad kee mow is a stir fry dish flat rice noodle dish with eggs, green and red bell peppers. You have a choice of protein chicken or beef. It is usually served with chilis. Never had it before. We usually get pad thai. A couple bites in i noticed it lacked seasoning. Could but we did omit the heat from the dish. Chicken was overcooked. And the noodle to chicken ratio wasn't too good. I was hoping for more chicken. Was a little on the oily side. Wasn't really impressed but it was well cooked. Rachel seemed to like it more than i did. Best part of the dish was the brown sauce on the noodles. Slightly sweet, umami, and soy saucy. Overall: Not bad or good. I'd like to give it another shot try some other dishes. Maybe order pad thai next time.

The waiter was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgable about his menu. The lychee martini he recommended was fantastic. I judge Thai restaurants by the Pad Kee Mao. The noodles seemed very fresh, and the other ingredients were also perfectly prepared. The overall flavor was wonderful. It was very, very, very, very spicy, yet it still had a nice, rich flavor. This place is very far from where I live, but it's a nice stop on the way to Ikea!

I've been going to River Spice for the past 2 years and their food never disappoints. They give out good portions for the price, which is always good for me. It's convenient, right off the Tollway. Mind you, I've never eaten in the restaurant so i'm sure my food would be even more tasty if I actually sat down and ate there. All of my experiences have been takeouts and they don't skimp at all. 4 stars all the way. *******They recently changed their name to THAI SPICE********

'This restaurant deserves 3 stars on ambiance and presentation. The service is good and our server was very polite and sweet. However, the food was very mediocre so I have to give it 2 starts. Being as Thai food lovers, my husband and I are always looking for good new Thai restaurants to try. And I have to say that this restaurant is pretty average to below average. The pad thai was very good, but the yellow curry was just okay. And the appetizers were all okay to below average. The crab and avocado rolls tasted pretty bad. The avocados were not even close to rip and taste strange and had a rubbery texture. And the crab tasted old. The potstickers, however, were pretty tasty. This restaurant isn't bad but I wouldn't come back.

WOW...I believe this is our new favorite Thai food. Delicious, great service, some of the best curries ever. My favorite is Pa Kee Mow with a side of peanut sauce and a green, yellow, or red curry.

Great food. Started out w mango summer rolls with peanut sauce (normally comes w plum sauce but they happily changed it). Fresh mango in the roll was a nice touch. For dinner, had cashew chicken with brown rice and pineapple fried rice with chicken. We Asked for a 3 on spiciness (out of 5) and it had a nice bite to it. The fried rice was a bit dry but the pineapple helped offset that. Service was great. We'll be back

I placed a take out order for the yellow curry and edamame at Thai Spice it was a little bit pricey, but definitely worth it. They sent a huge container of the curry with jasmine rice, and I literally ate it for about 3 days. It was really delicious and flavorful - I can't wait to try the green curry!! I'm not sure about the dining experience because I've never been there, but I'm sure I will be visiting soon to try other items on their menu.

At a time that I was sick and was beginning to run a fever, at these times, I require some good spices and hot food. Found this place just down the road to me, and was great to find this place. Has a beautiful decor and a great bar area. Not to mention the food was amazing. Was the perfect amount of spice that I required to help me through. Will definitely be returning when I have that next craving for Thai food.

I decided on the four starts because of the beef salad. I had this dish a long time ago and when I ordered it here at River Spice...it took me back. My boyfriend had the pad thai beef and we had the salad rolls for the appetizer. All were great. I guess we lucked out because when we went, there was only one other couple. We went with our three year old who proceeded to spit out everything we gave him. Don't let that be a deterrent, his mother is on a Chili's and 'Donalds diet, so thai just wasn't appealing to him at this point in time. He did try try the pad thai and he liked it...of course WE had to bribe him with bowling. Aimee is right...dessert never works. :-) Good thai and good service.

so I after avoiding River Spice (old name) because of a bad experience, I decided to give Thai Spice ("Under New Management!") a run. The server explained that they had to drop some menu items to improve quality. Perhaps...or maybe it was a food cost overrun issue, who knows? Anyway I got delivery, which was reasonably fast. My boys (5 and 7) love Thai and they both hammered back their satays and fried rice in minutes. They also really loved the tempura banana dessert...dad had to steal a few bites too, and I agreed. Now the other two entrees, larb kai and pad thai (I figured I would throw them softballs for their first trial) were hit/miss. I'm sure there was chicken in the salad, but the fish sauce overwhelmed any other flavor, and made the meat inedible...threw it away, and choked down the lettuce (which was crisp and fresh.) The pad thai was a much better flavor choice but, sadly, looked like a pile of wet straw...grey/brown, without a veggie in sight. OK, not totally true: there were some mung beans and a lemon wedge garnish. Still, I'm used to eating with my eyes as well as my palate...guys please pick up the presentation! In short, my two boys had a good enough experience that we will order from the "chicken on a stick" restaurant, as they call it, again soon. I will try jungle curry and maybe give the pad thai another shot. However, I've enjoyed Samui and Banana Leaf enough that they are in for a competition for my affections.

Yep, I agree that River Spice Thai is about 3.5 stars, but I just can't move it all the way to a four. It's a solid thai place, and it has excellent lunch service. You end up spending $9-10 (total, with tax and tip) for your choice of a salad or soup (which is tom-yum and is awesome), an egg roll, and a meal from a pretty extensive lunch menu. I had the Pad See Eu (is that how you spell it?). It was good! No complaints here. My service was excellent - I mean, when they compliment your hair you have to love them. :) Of course the food came quickly. What is it with Thai places and super unbelievably fast service? It's a little scary when your main dish is in front of you five minutes after you order it. The set up is nice too - not too ornate but also not a dive. If I lived in the area I'd be here all the time.

I've eaten at just about every Thai place in the metroplex, and this is by far the best of all of them. Not even close. The curries and other specialty dishes are legit, but the thai fried rice is simply ridiculous. There must be some form of cocaine in that rice because you simply can not-no matter how hard you try-stop sucking the stuff up like a hoover vacuum. It's really good and reasonable at around $8 because you literally get 10 pounds of rice, a spring roll and soup or salad as well.
