So after moving here from NYC my boyfriend and I have done the BBQ exploration and we have hands down found our favorite place: Off the Bone. The staff is friendly, the place is clean, and the food is amazing!!! We got the brisket, ribs, beans, potato salad, and a brownie ... Everything was perfect! Everything had so much flavor. These are hands down my favorite baked beans. What makes this place even better is that they are open late. Having lived in NYC for many years, I'm sometimes not ready to eat dinner until 9:30/10:00. So the fact that Off the Bone is still serving food at this time is awesome!!

Best BBQ around town and friendly staff. I went here with my family and we ordered the BBQ ribs, brisket, sausage, baked beans, and cole slaw. Everything was so good. Go here, you can't go wrong! :)

In town on business, from the north, figure, "hey, I should get REAL BBQ while I'm here!" This was the highest rated place anywhere near where I was, gave it a shot. Service kicked ass. The people there were great. Ribs we're very good, slightly better than I can get up north....and yes, that's damning with faint praise. Sides were meh. I got the spicy beans which were spicy and had no other real taste and the cold pasta salad was a decent chunk worse than I can make myself (and those were the sides the guy recommended, so.....yea). It was fine overall, I just really don't get the hype.

Found this place on the D magazine; rated as one of the best BBQ places to go in Dallas. Between my friends and I, we got to try out everything but the chicken. The ribs and brisket are definitely the best thing on the menu. The owner gave me extra briskets for free when I got chopped brisket instead sliced (totally my fault). This joint is also very clean, which is always a bonus.

Went to this place with my son ... who was looking at SMU for college and wanted to try some good Dallas BBQ! Well this was the fricken spot we found ... and were we lucky! We talked to the owner for a few minutes and then he dialed us in for a sampler feast. All I can say is I sure hope he goes to SMU and my whole family can try Off The Bone. Those flavors lasted for hours and we couldn't believe how much better it was from our California spots. We didn't care for the smoked Link (just not our thing) but the bean and potato salad were the perfect sides. We will be back ... this Dallas BBQ spot set a very high standard and also had top notch service.

Awesome little dive BBQ place south of downtown Dallas. I ordered the ribs and the beef brisket and it was so tender and delicious. Great hidden gem, I definitely recommend checking it out if you on that side of town. Warning: like many BBQ places, they stop serving when they run out of food, we went on a Saturday just before lunch time and we didn't regret it one bit!

The BBQ is OK. Too pricy and small amounts. I will tell you that the BBQ tacos where great.

I went here yesterday for lunch. Staff was great, very attentive and good attitude. The place was not full so seating was not a problem. I ordered the two meat combo brisket and smoked sausage. Overall this place is really good. Would definitely come here again.

Husband and I ordered a sampler, which included 3 ribs, 1/4 pound chicken, 1/4 pound sliced sausage, and 1/4 pound chopped brisket. We added 2 sides which were potato salad and honey spiced baked beans. We are foodies and I have a culinary degree and this is by far some of the BEST bbq I have ever put in my mouth. Ribs were very meaty and fall of the bone tender, the chicken was juicy and seasoned just right. The sausage had us flipping coins to see who was going to get the last piece. The brisket was incredibly tender. The potato salad was nice and creamy with big hunks of potato. The honey spiced beans were a little different than your average baked beans but in a good way, just try them and you'll see what I mean. Go here, eat, be happy, then repeat.

I was visiting Dallas, and we needed to find a place to eat. The crowd loves BBQ, and we found this place. It's small and cozy. Hands down - it's some of the most flavorful, tender BBQ I had ever had. If you're from the South, then you know my friend's comment is a compliment. He said, "This BBQ is so good, it'll makes you want to slap yo momma!" The cooks and crew were hospital, and we would definitely head back.

Great little spot. I visit every time I'm in Dallas. Try the 3 meat spicy charro beans. Food not fuel!

Every time we are in the Downtown Dallas area we have to stop for the best, literally "off the bone" ribs I have ever had! Their friendly service, impeccable. And today I tried for the first time their cole slaw which was delicious. Thanks for providing consistent great ribs every time!

Great food. Ribs are perfect. Tender, savory and yes they fall off the bone. But the flavor is just amazing. Sides are homemade and worth the visit by themselves. If you get the chance have a chat with the owner, Donald. Very nice guy. Real family man with interesting story.

Best brisket I 've had, tender moist and fatty. The roast corn is very good and definitely different than all I 've tried before. Coleslaw tastes pretty weird (in a bad way) with cottage cheese on it. Fries is good. Pork ribs, baked beans (probably better without peppers), and sausages are just Ok. I 've been in Dallas for 3 months and still cannot find a place with good pork ribs with a wow factor. Please pm me if you know any. Thx. Bump up to 5 stars because of the consistently good quality of brisket.

Was in the area for business was recommended to come here for excellent BBQ and they didn't disappoint. Our ribs and chicken were fall off the bone wonderful! do yourself a favor and if you are in the Dallas area, make sure to come visit you will thank me later. Also, they went out of their way to assist me in getting another receipt when I found out later mine was destroyed., thanks guys!

I have been hearing about this place for awhile finally found the time to go and try it now as far as taste the ribs were good the brisket i wasn't impressed with it at all and the coleslaw was horrible for the price of the 2-meat 2-side combo i felt the portions were very small i just know never to go back here ever again

Fantastic BBQ! Loved the ribs, sliced beef, blue cheese cole slaw and the 3 meat beans. Drove here from Lake Highlands for lunch. We will be back.

Very simple small place that seemed a bit of the beaten path. They have some excellent Texas BBQ here. I was not a huge fan of their side dishes, but all the meat was excellent.

The best bbq! The sampler platter was tender and delicious and came out quick. The manager was real friendly and served us well. Loved it.

Hmm, pretty good. I ordered a meal to go and it unfortunately was cold by the time I ate it. Had ribs, sausage, and chopped brisket. They say sliced wasn't available because the brisket is too tender and wont slice well. I'm not convinced that's the reason. ..so I'll pass on the brisket next time I come here if that's still the case. Sausage was ok...but the ribs were the good stuff. They come mopped with sauce so be prepared for that. Beans and coleslaw rounded out the meal and some lemon pound cake as dessert. That cake is a must when I go back!

Decided to pop in today before a nearby meeting. Coleslaw and potato salad weren't my fave, but ITS ALL ABOUT DA MEAT! 1st place. RIbs hands down are some of the best Ive had. Juicy, tender, fall off the bone delicious Runner Up I was really disappointed that they were out of sliced brisket. Opted for chopped. Nice and smokey and not too fatty at all. Very solid even though it was a little strange to eat by its self. 3rd Sausage was pretty good. Not too greasy, nice almost maple flavor. One thing I really dug is every meat had its own distinct flavor, while at other places everything just kinda meddles together. Overall great, but a little overpriced :/

Anyone that likes BBQ should try this place!! I work 2 minutes away and any chance I get I try to get some BBQ from here. This isn't the cheapest BBQ joint in the area but they are worth the money. I got the chopped brisket and ribs with potato salad and honey baked beans. The ribs are SO delicious and full of that smoke flavor you expect from a good BBQ pit like this. The meat is moist and (like the name of the place) falls off the bone easily. The brisket was just as good too. Not dry, same great smoke flavor. I put some on the bread with some BBQ sauce and a sliced pickle and savored every bite and chew. Only thing I regret is not trying some of the lemon pound cake that yelpers have been raving about. Only problem is that the place is very small AND very busy. I called in for a pickup order wanting one plate with 2 meats and 2 sides and they thought I ordered 2 plates. I went ahead and paid for both plates since the food is THAT good. But I still must warn people about how small this place it because it can get crowded and tables are hard to come by. It's probably best for you (and them) to walk in and place your order instead of calling it in. For what they lack in the size of the place they make up for the hours that they are open. Mon-Wed they close at 5pm. Thursday they are open until 9pm and Friday and Saturday they are open until midnight. Almost perfect for the weekend night life. But I still recommend this place if you're ever in downtown Dallas in the SouthSide Lamar area and have a craving for some BBQ! Heck, Francis Underwood would love this place. lol

We went there last night and ordered the ribs, potato salad, fries, beans, lemon pound cake and peach cobbler. The ribs did not have enough of a smokey BBQ flavor. They were kinda bland and the sauce was meh! I wonder if the ribs were boiled. :-( The Charro beans were spicy, not too bad. The potato salad was okay, but kinda dry. The lemon pound cake was very lemony and YUMMY! The peach cobbler was okay, the crust was good and the flavor was good. But I will say that the peach cobbler looked kinda scary. Definitely tasted better than it looked. The decor of the place is nice, but the food wasn't good enough for me to come back. I'm determined to find good BBQ in Dallas. Hopefully this isn't the best that Dallas has to offer!!

Well, they put BACON in their coleslaw. That is all sort of win in my book. Brisket was nicely cooked with the bark having just a hint of brown sugar. mmmmm This place is definitely worth a return visit.

Best BBQ in Dallas. What we ordered: Ribs - 5 stars Brisket - 4 stars Sausage - 5 stars Spicy Beans - I could eat this every day Cole Slaw - Interesting and refreshing! Peach Cobbler - I wish I ordered 3 more pieces This bbq is not of the dry rub variety, it has some sauce, but it's smoked to perfection and was my favorite in this Dallas visit (worthy opponents - Pecan Lodge, Lockhart Smokehouse). Everything was perfect and I would head out to S. Lamar to get it again. The service was friendly, gave samples, very helpful, the place is clean, we had a wonderful lunch, I want to go back.

There really isn't much to this place in terms of being an actual restaurant. The interior is rather small, maybe a dozen or so tables. It looks like a significant portion of their business stems from catering and to-go orders. After a quick perusal of the menu, I decided on a 2 Meat, 2 Side Combo of smoked pecan baby back ribs and sliced brisket, with their Southern potato salad and honey spiced baked beans on the side. When my order came out, I wasn't really expecting it to be slathered in sauce. The menu didn't specify, and I failed to ask. The baked beans had a great texture and some definite spice to them. All that honey gave the beans a nice taste, but added a little too much sugar to the already sweet baked beans. The potato salad had a high volume of hard boiled eggs and onion. The flavor was good, and I appreciated that it wasn't overrun with mustard. It had a nice spice it too. The brisket was juicy and moist, and had a great amount of bark on each slice. The fat was beautifully rendered, and added to the overall moistness of the brisket. I can't really comment on the smokiness of the meat because the dominant flavor was definitely the vinegar-tomato barbecue sauce. I liked the taste of their sauce just fine, but I wish it had come on the side. I really wanted to sample the advertised pecan smoke on the ribs, but that wasn't happening. Just like the brisket, my ribs were drenched in sauce. They were very meaty. A few bites were a little on the dry side, but the majority of it was fairly tender. The meat stayed put, waiting on each individual bite before it slid off the bone. Given the heavy dose of sauce, the flavor was almost identical to the brisket. Their website boasts the slogan: "It's as good as it looks." That's certainly true, although it's not really as positive an attribute as one might think. I'd like to go back and eat my combo sans sauce so that I can get a true grasp of their smoking abilities.

The bbq was okay. Nothing to write home about. If you want some really good bbq, go to the Pecan Lodge. I was on my way there but, decided to give Off the Bone a try. It's goo if nothing else is open.

Oh boy! This place was delicious. The brisket and sausage were tender and juicy, the bar-b-que sauce was PERFECT!!! Ties the potato salad and it was amazing - had boiled egg mixed inn - Yummy! The beans were also good. They had a green chili flavor, very unique. For me the show stopper was the corn in the cob. Fresh, toasted on the grill then smothered in seasoning salt (I think) and butter. Served with a slice of lime. Thought that was weird until I tried it - I am a believer now! Overall the service was good and they had delicious iced tea. Will most definitely be back!!! Would have tried the fries but they forgot to give them to us and we were so into the other food we did not realize we had never gotten them until we left. Still, glad to give them a 5 star. Only down side is the place is small inside so not great if you have little ones with you.

Unfortunately, I experienced 3 strikes on my visit around 1:30 of a Monday. I ordered half a rack of ribs and was excited based on all of the reviews to bite into them. I was displeased based on the "3 strikes" listed below. 1. Temperature of meat was lukewarm. I've had warmer meat sitting under heat lamps. I don't know if this rack had been sitting out unfoiled or not in a meat locker, but it tasted like a rack that was literally sitting out a room temperature for a while before it was put on my plate. I don't expect my ribs to be steaming, but I want some warmth to them. 2, Lack of tenderness. The meat did come off the bone, but not from the typically fall off the bone as describe. There was quite a bit of pull required to get the meat off the bone and seemed as if this slab or ribs got pulled off way to early on the smoker. 3. Rub was marginal and not much substance. It seemed as if the rub was sprinkled on after taking the ribs off the smoker or right towards the end. There wasn't much stick to the rub. I prefer to have my ribs dry, but since there wasn't much flavor I had to use some sauce. The sauce was about the only positive in my experience. I know BBQ places can vary on the quality of meat day by day. I'm hoping my experience was an off day, but the fact there were 3 major strikes on my end makes me question the consistency you get from day to day. Based on the other reviews, I have to know and believe there is something to Off the Bone. However, I missed out based on my visit today and wish that wasn't the case. Customer service was friendly, but I was sorely disappointed in the meat.

The ribs r amazeballs. Great food, and service. Everyone here is very nice. I got a free sample of the ribs and I was sold. I wish lived around here to come back more often.

Excellent ribs & sausage! Had the fried corn & loved it! The men working there were so friendly. Only thing different I would suggest is larger cups for tea. Other than that it's an A+.

My friend and I were at the Dallas Farmers Market and started talking to some people who were eating some barbecue. When we asked where they got it, on lady said "Off the Bone!" then she told us how to get there. It's a small place, a converted gas station, actually, but walking up we could smell the bbq cooking and see the smoke. We knew it had to be good. We went in and looked at the small menu. I ordered the Pecan smoked ribs and coleslaw, he ordered a meat combo plate with pasta salad. Both orders came with bread and sweet pickles. This is the best sauce I have ever tasted. Not sweet and tangy, but smooth and tangy with a slight kick, but not hot. I'm glad I had the extra bread to sop up all the extra sauce! I would definitely go again, maybe even make a special trip when I get a craving!

Excellent food. Had the ribs (pecan wood smoked) and spicy fries. Ribs were just firm enough to stay on the bone but still very tender. Good quality meat with a good smoke and very nice sauce. The manager was also very friendly and courteous. Just a great overall experience.

Yes, it does fall off the bone...barbecue. I came here on a Friday night around nine in the evening, my navigation took me to a desolate area where most businesses in a two-block radius have long gone home. This side of town was quieter, but the tiny, well-lit restaurant, Off the Bone Barbecue stood proudly in its own parking lot. The restaurant was built to have the inside dining area made up of several glass panels so people passing by can see the diners. Surprisingly at this time of night, there wasn't a lot of people inside. "It's really bumpin," joked my friend as we parked the car. I laughed. I walked inside expecting someone to seat us, but the place was empty. Cut to the room on the left and theres a kitchen, where one would pick up a menu, order, and pay before sitting down on one of the long, picnic-style tables. I was on a mission for something four legged, and I was scrolling around Yelp to figure out what I wanted. My friend shouts to the guy in the kitchen and says, "She's Yelping you!" The guy in the back cocks his head, "Yelling? Why is she yelling for?! She just got here!" I told him that I was looking at their reviews and that Off the Bone had high ratings. I told the man in the kitchen, "I've always wanted to go to Texas and the only thing I wanted to do was eat barbecue." The man looks at me, "Where you from?" I said LA. Without blinking, the man replies, "I am so sorry." The man puts his head down and puts a steaming fork-loads of brisket into sample cups and hands it to me and my friend, says "Here, let me show you what I'm working with." The brisket was shredded, juicy, hot, moist, and flavorful. I knocked my head back and savored it. The man behind the counter goes, "Were you praying? I guess all LA people can't be that bad then." I placed an ordered a combo number two, and had brisket and ribs as my two main protein, and then beans and coleslaw as my sides. The brisket was delicious, shredded beef that was succulent and flavorful. The ribs was something I've never really had before, I'm use to ribs with a sweet barbecue sauce and this one was salty. Still good, the meat (as promised,) fell off the bone...super tender. I also enjoyed my sides, sweet, creamy pinto beans and the contrast of crispy coleslaw. I was starving and convinced that I was going to kill the plate but I was forced to get a box. As the evening progressed, more people sat down, dined, and left. My friend and I finished our meals and continued our conversation over a couple of beers. The waitstaff cleaned off our table and allowed us to hang out. When my friend and I retired, we grabbed our to-go boxes and headed for the door. The man from the kitchen was outside and gave each of us a fist bump before leaving. So yes, it does fall off the bone, and yes, I recommend it!

This was an overly spicy attempt at BBQ. I have decided that I would explore the Dallas BBQ before I venture to Lockhart,TX. Needless to say I disappointed in the finished product. I ordered the 1 meat plate with pulled pork. My sisters went with the sampler platter. I took a bite of pork to taste the meat. I had an fire in my mouth. I did not taste the flavor of the meat just heat from pepper. Ugh! I am not a fan of spicy food so I asked my sister to taste it and she got a flavor bomb of pepper. She told me to try the ribs and I tasted a slight smoke flavor with a rub but once again pepper. I sampled the sausage but it was nothing special to make me sit up and take notice. The sauce was Carolina style of sauce. I passed on the dessert because my mouth was burning. I got pickles for my sisters and they said there was a commercial brand which was better. The service was great and the place was really clean. This really was not even a solid 3 star but rather a 2.5 for me and rest comes from having a really good staff. If you like overly spicy food then this is the place for you. I am all for venturing out and trying the local food finds but this will not be on my return list.

Very kind homie vibe. The food is great. The ribs are the best in Dallas, yes better than Pecan Lodge... BUT why is the chicken dry? :( Why? That's just a dang shame as good as those Damn ribs are. The kindness of the staff and the delicious sides makes up for the dry chicken. The sausage is wonderfullllll.

OMG! My world has changed forever. Now, I'll look forward to coming to Dallas when before, I was not particularly enthusiastic. The cole slaw had a zillion ingredients including blue cheese and bacon. Zowie! The beans were out of this world! The loaded baked potato was insanely huge! The brisket with burnt ends was positively life altering! The ribs were the best on the planet! The service was friendly and helpful. Game over. Winner!

My to-go order: 2 meats with 2 sides. I got (all beef) sausage, chicken, charro beans and potato salad. In a word-AMAZING! The best sausage i've ever had, moist (hate that word but I have no choice) chicken breast, yellow mustard potato salad and beans so delicious I wanted an entire bowl-full. Highly recommend.

Love the feel of the building. The cooks (or probably owners) are pretty awesome. They even let us eat a rib each (just to sample it) at 10PM on a Friday night before we ordered. The food, overall, was good but nothing special. We ordered a platter of: ribs, sausage, fries, baked beans, etc. Everything was solid but again, not special. I rate the food at a THREE (fries, ribs, sausage, etc). But the guys working, the free ribs, the extra water bottle they gave us, and the only place opened this late, I give it a generous four. I'd definitely come here again for the atmosphere but the food is secondary.

When I went the first time I asked an employee what he would recommend.. He said everything is good. I didn't believe him until I tried the family plate with my friends. Oh my gosh.. nothing. I repeat, nothing, isn't amazing on their menu. My favorite is the chicken, sausage, ribs, chunky potato salad, and the cobbler. This is a must try. Best bbq ever.

OTB catered our backyard wedding for 83. Fabulous food. 4 meats including prize winning ribs 4 sides including fried corn on the Cobb and special cole slaw. Rolls and bread. Rose provided the commercial serving dishes. The plastic plates and silverware she provided were fantastic and cheaper than party city. Rose was very attentive, on time, and our guests all said they've never had better ribs, sausage and brisket.

Let's talk the whole experience itself: It took about 30 minutes to order with only one couple in front of us. One of the cooks asked us if it was our first time there, and then offered us a rib sample. This led to him being scolded for speaking Spanish during his shift... in front of everyone there. STRIKE ONE. When we finally ordered, the main guy in charge asked me and my gf if we were sisters. I told him she was my girlfriend which led to his very inappropriate reaction, tasteless jokes, and the rest of the kitchen staff stopping to stare us down. One of them actually came around the counter to stand right next to me and stare right at me for a while. Super unprofessional and not to mention uncomfortable, awkward and rude. We had paid for our food already and decided to sit and eat. STRIKE TWO. I got my order, a baked potato loaded with 'everything', which to make matters worse, was cold and kinda hard. I let the cashier know as she came around to clean tables, (she was the only decent person there aside from the first cook who greeted us), and their solution was to microwave my food. Not much better after that. I will say that the ribs were good, but for good ribs, in Texas, I'd rather search for another place to spend my money where I won't be judged and made to feel like I'm on display when I'm out with my girlfriend. STRIKE THREE, and definitely NOT going back.

  • Myia B.

Short version: tastes like crock pot bbq with not enough flavor or smoke. The coleslaw was the tastiest thing we had with the peach cobbler running up 2nd. I would have given a narrow 3 if the sweet tea hadn't been old/souring. :'( Tea should have been an easy score. Am I going back? Probably not, but I don't think it was horrid. Long Version: Sausage: was okay, not enough smoke. Ribs: falling off the bone and okay, but there was no bark. They come out already sauced but the bbq sauce wasn't hearty, it was tasteless and somewhat brothy (think ribs with bbq sauce on top wrapped in foil...after cooking awhile, the sauce thins out). There was not enough smoke on the ribs and they lacked flavor. Chopped Brisket: lean, not enough smoke. Lacked flavor. A tad dry (probably because it was lean); I had to keep chewing the brisket. I'm not the biggest brisket eater, and I prefer fatty brisket, so I might not be the best brisket critique. Beans: Canned beans? A little onion, maybe relish? Maybe some diced pickled jalapeno and green onion. Tangy. They were okay. Potato Salad: it was okay. Coleslaw: this was delicious. It contained bleu cheese and was topped with bacon crumbles. Good stuff. I was sad the scoop they gave was so small because this the slaw stole the show. Peach Cobbler: I think this was good. It didn't taste like my Aunt Bessie Mae had been making dough and slicing peaches this morning, but it was okay. Atmosphere: small dine in area (maybe seats around 35 people), outdoor patio gives a little more space. Our table hadn't been wiped down, and I felt uncomfortable asking the owner who was standing right next to the table to have someone wipe it...we grabbed seats...no biggie. But throughout the meal, Mr. Harvey and other staff members walked the small dinning area or stood outside the windows looking in and it made me uncomfortable. Eye contact was made several times and I couldn't help but feel like the cook was standing over my shoulder and if I didn't like the food, I might get censured. We referred to Pecan Lodge as code name "PL" once or twice when questioning whose dish was better but for the most part, ate in silence and saved our commentary and conversation for the car ride. If I had to guess, they are finishing off the brisket and ribs in a slow cooker or oven or something. This isn't a crime...some people like the style and prefer it because it's hard to dry meat out and easy to get it falling off the bone when que'd this way. If I'm right, I wish they'd leave it smoking longer and also figure out a way to preserve or get some bark on the meat. It could just be my personal preference but I don't want anything that remotely tastes like crock pot ribs, I want bark and smoke. Give the place a try...you might like it. Get the coleslaw - OTB deserves applause for the slaw.

I went to Dallas over the Thanksgiving holiday to watch football & catch a basketball game too. I knew when I got to Dallas I was going to eat some BBQ. I ate BBQ at 3 different places while in Dallas. The other 2 places were good but 1 place was clearly the best. I stumbled across "Off the Bone Barbeque" via Yelp reviews & decided to check it out. The food was great. I ordered the 2 meat meal. I had ribs & pulled pork. It was delicious. The ribs were SO moist. They must have smoked those ribs for days to get that kind of flavor. And I've never had beans like that. I don't even know what they were called but they were delicious. Somehow, some way, I walked out without dessert. I must have been in a food coma. Next time I'm in Dallas, I will definitely go back.

This is place lives up to its name. The baby back ribs fall off the bone. The sauce is delicious and not overly sweet. Brisket perfect texture. I finally had some authentic Texas BBQ. I'll be back soon.

So, visiting from San Diego and our choice of BBQ is relegated to Phil's and Mike's. We had to get some Texas Que. We walked in and immediately were asked if we had been there and when we said no the cook hooked us up with a baby back rib each to try. BAM! Had to get a half slab of b-backs. Wife got a BBQ chicken sammy. Fried corn was real good, even if it retained heat for 38 minutes. Potato salad was okay, almost like a church picnic with lots of hardboiled eggs. Sauce was tangy. Funny parts: cook apologized for us being from San Diego. He was proud of being from Texas. I told him that if he would vote and get Wendy Davis (woman democrat) as governor I would move to Texas. He then told me, "It'll never happen in Texas. Wrong state for that kind of thinking."

I had to undo the button on my jeans after eating here. I got the 2 meat & 2 side combo with ribs, chopped brisket, baked beans and coleslaw. Oh and I got a slice of cornbread. All just amazing. The coleslaw has some blue cheese and bacon pieces on top, kinda random I thought but I was pleasantly surprised. The cornbread had jalapeno and bacon bits in it, also incredible. The BF got the Spicy Charro Beans, and I honestly couldn't decide which beans I liked more. Basically you can't go wrong here. Of course, be sure to wash it all down with a Shiner Bock and you are set. A must have plate here.

Pricey, poor wait times, poor parking, cramped seating. The only thing that makes this place worth going to the food is excellent.

The concierge at our hotel recommended Off the Bone when we said we wanted some good Texas BBQ. Oh man, was it ever. Throughout the entire meal we didn't stop saying "oh my God", "this is so good", "wow", "this is awesome", etc. The ribs literally were fall off the bone deliciousness. So tender and flavorful. The BBQ sauce was the perfect amount of spice and tang. The tacos were really good and had some very spicy salsas/hot sauces on them. The potato salad with egg and sweet pickles reminded my bf of his mom's homemade version- he loved it. I loved the baked beans, they were nicely spiced. The guys working there were chill & friendly. Very casual place. We'll absolutely be back next time we're in town.

Off the Bone BBQ gave me an off the chains boner! ;) My first time having real TX barbecue, was right here in downtown Dallas. This spot is tiny but not hard to miss and conveniently located right by the huge ass Dallas Police Department building. You know them cops are grubbin' it up here everyday. I know I would! I got myself the 1 meat and 2 sides combo: Brisket with Honey Spiced Baked Beans and Summer Cool Coleslaw. And of course one of their Southern Country Peach Cobbler that they had stacked near the register. The staff here seem like they could all be family members. They all work quite efficiently. So, you order your food and you walk across through the glass door where the seating area is and wait for your food there. They also have moist towelette dispensers and antibacterial hand sanitizer bottles out for your messy, finger-lickin' eaters. :P When my plate came out...oh boy. I dug right into my brisket and it was the most flavorful meat I've had in awhile. The coleslaw is apparently popular during the summer time but I honestly could live without that side dish, it had a hint of something that I didn't quite like. The baked beans though...oh man! I should have ordered 2 sides of just that! Wow, the spicy flavor on those beans was heavenly. And the pieces of bread they give you to sop up any sauce you have on your plate is a great bonus too. Ended my meal by digging into the yummy peach cobbler. The peaches were light, fresh and crisp and the cobbler part of the dessert was not too dense and honestly made my meal 110% complete. This place is a MUST if you want some good ole TX BBQ!

Yes, believe the reviews. Your search for good barbeque in Dallas has come to an end. Cozy atmosphere, nice staff, delicious food. I tried the 2 meat 2 sides combo and ate that whole plate with ease. The ribs were incredible. Tender and flavorful. I asked for brisket and received chopped instead of my preferred sliced. Still delicious, but next time I'll ask for sliced. The kicker... EVERYTHING was delicious. The potato salad rocked, the baked beans were ridiculous, and even the sliced bread was better than usual. Struck up a conversation with a long-time patron and guess what--he was super nice. It was that kind of experience.

The BBG was Ok, but there are better choices were in Dallas. $7.50 for a tiny sliced beef issue too high

A former co worker introduced me to this place. I love the brisket sandwich and the BBQ Sauce is killer! It is tangy and has a very good taste. The brisket sandwiches was a container with 2 smaller buns that were close to the size of rolls and then soo much brisket. Definitely worth a stop in to try them out. Good quality stuff.

I ate here on 8/8/2014. Before then, I was unimpressed with Texas BBQ but this place changed my perception. The ribs were excellent and the sides were great. I highly recommend it.

The ribs were pretty good. The rest wasn't great. I did not like the surprise of blue cheese in the cole slaw.

Seriously??? All of these these 4-star and 5-star Yelps must be tourist reviews, because they apparently have no clue what Texas BBQ is about. OTB BBQ is on the same level as Dickey's BBQ, and I've had better from Dickey's! Brisket was dry as a desert--a big red flag: they indicated that they only serve lean beef here and cut off all the fat before serving. This is a criminal omission, no true BBQ joint in Texas serves lean brisket only. There may have been slight smoke to it, but it took much gnawing to gulp this beef down. The much- vaunted ribs were slathered in a neutral sauce and needed coaxing to come off the ribs, hardly inspirational. The sausage, though slightly charred, is commercial grade, straight out of the grocery store freezer case--I'm guessing Eckrich. Bacon-topped coleslaw tasted like shredded cabbage salad tossed in blue cheese dressing--though my man did say his coleslaw tasted more like the real stuff--so points deducted for inconsistency. The mustard-based potato salad was halfway decent with nice chunks of egg. However, the only thing that I took notice of were the beans, prepared in a Southwestern style rather than straight-up BBQ style. One of the few times I had the throw away $30 worth of food--I just couldn't eat it. Oh, and btw this is Texas, people, a Dr Pepper state. No self-respecting BBQ joint forgets to serve DP.

This was the worst bbq I ever experience in my life I order the combo with all meat every piece was horrible the only tasteful part was the pasta salad (I don't even like cold pasta salads)they even screwed up the beans it was under cooked the meat was horrible it tasted un-season and under cook except the link it was over cook I never knew you could screw up links maybe I came on a bad day Idk but its so bad every time I pass it I get upset.. now the place to try is Baby Back Shak when I say good home BBQ man they have the best fall off the bone ribs. You have to taste their beans they will make you slap your mama its right around the corner from them on akard

Great people - good barbecue. Ribs were meaty and have a nice smoky flavor... brisket was okay - beans were tasty - i did not care for the spicy pasta salad but the fires were tasty... small dining area... Good experience overall

OK, the meat did fall of the bone. But that does not a good BBQ make... My experience was all over the map here. My selection: I ordered the ribs and sliced brisket, with cole slaw and potato salad. First of all, the only type of ribs they have is baby backs. My preference is regular ribs. They were indeed tender, and they were ok, but the taste didn't 'wow' me at all. And, there was sauce already baked onto the ribs, so you don't have a choice there. Rating: 3-stars. The person at the counter suggested the cole slaw, saying that it was made with blue cheese and bacon bits -- sounds good, right? It definitely was not. To me, the blue cheese made it smell like cole slaw gone bad; rotten cole slaw. Not even the bacon could help. Rating: 1-star. The potato salad was excellent! It had the right amount of creaminess and tang. Rating: 5 stars. As for the brisket, I really liked it. Now understand that I always ask for the fatty ("moist") brisket when in Texas, because I love the taste and find that lean brisket has a texture that's way too dry to enjoy. Except this time -- I forgot to request the moist side of the brisket, so I got whatever they gave me. At first it seemed to be all lean, but after digging in I found the meat overall had the right mix of lean and fat. Some people can't stand any fat, so their opinion of this brisket might vary. The taste was smokey and rich. I liked it. Rating: 4-stars. Maybe 4.5. By the way, the sauce was very good, and paired well with the brisket. In conclusion, I wouldn't steer someone away from this place, because people's tastes vary so much, but with Dallas having so many BBQ places, this is not the first place I'd recommend trying.

I lived in San Antonio for over 2 years and wasn't to impressed with the Barbeque locations that everyone bragged about. So when I happened to be in Dallas over the weekend I stopped by Off The Bone to find out what the Northern Texas Barbeque style was like. Not disappointed at all!!! These guys live up to their name. The ribs were literally falling off the bone. The chicken as well as the brisket were cooked to perfection, and most importantly not dried out. The links were good but not hot (which is what I was looking for) at all so I took a star away for that reason alone. The slaw is made with Blu Cheese and Bacon, so giving that a go is a must. The location is clean, well maintained, and the staff is nothing but delightful. I really enjoyed the fact that everyone working there was really attentive to our table, and appeared to be thankful of the business. Next time I find myself in Dallas this will be the only place I make sure to stop by for a meal.

Could have been 4+ stars... Brisket was awesome! The pulled pork was mediocre. The service was less than desirable. I will admit, I arrived right before closing time. There were 5 guys and a single woman ahead of me. The gentlemen had already placed their order, but we're chatting with the staff and holding up the line. The woman finally started ordering, and the cashier was distracted by previous order issues several times. Finally I ordered, maybe 10 minutes after arriving. I ordered the combo plate (2 meats, 2 sides. I ordered the pulled pork and sliced brisket, plus the spicy beans and fried corn), plus two sandwich buns and a peach cobbler. The order was about $16. About what I expected to pay. They gave me a number, and I waited about 8-10 minutes. They brought me my order to go. I thanked them and headed toward my car. One of the staff stopped me and said they forgot to include my corn. He ran back inside and grabbed it for me. I started to leave, and he stopped me AGAIN! He said they left out the sandwich buns. This time he had them with him. I asked if the cobbler was included, he indicated I should have grabbed it while inside. I had no idea. He went ahead and grabbed it for me. Filly got the complete order. Once I got to my room, I tried it out. The beans were a 4 of 5. The pork was 2.5 of 5. The brisket was a 4.5-5 of 5. Even though they gave me chopped brisket instead of sliced. The cobbler was a 3.5, and the corn was a solid 4.5... I've never had fried corn on the cob before. Nice seasoning, too! I wish I would have gotten better service the first time around. Would definitely return to try it again.

Had some seriously good ribs and brisket here. I was a little ticked at first because I had been sitting and they only gave me a fork and no knife. Guess what kids? No knife needed. That's right. Fall off the bone perfection. The brisket was very tender on the inside and crispy on the outside with a solid rub to give it a nice spice. I also had a side of the 3 meat beans which had a serious kick to them. The people who work here were very nice as well. They even respected the fact that I was an idiot and called ahead to see if they had tables open for one. The place was practically empty but I couldn't for the life of me understand why. I thought it was going to be a nice restaurant, but I rolled up to a dive. My ignorance did not stop me from enjoying my time here. They brought out my food and even called a cab for me after my meal. Don't know if it was worth the cab out there to begin with but I am glad I was able to have some quality southern BBQ.

I review BBQ more than any other foods...This was my first visit and as any good BBQ critic knows you have to try BBQ more than once to give a honest review. This place is small only about 20 seats and that is if you share with someone BBQ was good, average on a scale of one to five its a 3, Ribs were OK, Brisket was OK kinda lean for me...I like greasy fatty brisket with some good to heavy char, I am not a fan of dry lean brisket...I would rather go to McDonalds than eat that. Sides were good...sweet beans (I love me some good baked beans), and the cole slaw was "Money" it is made with Bacon and Blue Cheese...what a great twist. Weird Bread...??? a little expensive...My lunch BBQ Pricing is - under $10 is a good deal, $12 - $13 is OK and over $15 is expensive...this was $16.24 with Drink and Tax I will try it again and report back as for you...go try it, I think you will be happy, most of you will be very happy

Over 12 people was on my order....Food was great!!!! The price was way too much for the amount of food we were given. Everyone was unhappy with the food portions vs the prices.... otherwise I would give it 5 stars (nice clean establishment, friendly and very proffesional)

Ribs are amazing and the meat fall off the bone! Boyfriend and I both agree we need to eat here at least once a month. Very friendly staff. Boyfriend loved the coleslaw...they even put bacon in it. You can never go wrong with bacon especially when it comes to men :-) I'm getting hungry just thinking about "them ribs".

The best ribs I have EVER had! Simply phenomenal ribs, hands down amazing. I can NOT get beyond this point. This place is small, with a tiny sit-down area if you wanted to eat in, but most patrons seemed to take food to go. They have a spacious parking lot, so you don't have to worry about your car (i was a bit, the area had some stray dogs and was kinda empty even though it was the middle of the day. Still, i had heard great things about the ribs here by a Tenessee friend of mine who swears by this place having the best ribs she's ever had. We walked in, and we were the only people to eat in, with 3 other people coming in and ordering to go. The seating wasn't anything fancy but it served the purpose so that's all that matters: plastic tables, chairs and utensils,.. but really, who needs utensils here, just dig in! The prices are cheap and you can order plates with one or two meats and two sides. My gf got one meat, the brisket sandwich, with tricolor pasta and the coleslaw salad for sides. The brisket was REALLY good, tender and tasty, but the sides were a pass, nothing special about them. I got the two meats: the smoked BBQ ribs (3 only, i would have liked more...) and pulled pork sandwich. The pork was good, but i didn't go crazy for it, but the ribs, my god the RIBS, were out-of-this-world good! For sides, I got the spicy 3-meat charro beans, which comes out soupy but is really tasty and has a great spicy kick to it, and the southern potato salad, which again wasn't anything special. I like this place, although i would only recommend it for the ribs, as i doubt you will find any as good anywhere in Texas (and if not in Texas, then definitely no where else in the world!). I know i'll be back for more of those ribs...

For years this place found on the industrial stretch of South Lamar has caught my eye. Not only because of the BBQ but because of it's home. Located in what appears to be an old gas station or possible corner store of an era gone by, you can't find too many nostalgic buildings still occupied (if Dallas hasn't torn them down yet). After deciding to begin work on South Dallas BBQ joints choosing Off the Bone wasn't a difficult decision at all. A heavy drift of pecan smoke flowed through the air and I had arrived right before others so the expectations were high. Off the Bone has been voted "Best in Dallas" so this added to the allure. Framed pictures inside note the famous who have entered this joint throughout the years of it's existence. Walking into the ordering counter you will notice employees to your right prepping food and tucked behind them a J&R smoker. After being inquisitive about the menu you may want to watch out on the pricing. I initially asked for my standard of a three meat plate with nothing more. This came to a whopping $20 plus dollars. How so? Well they were charging me sandwich meat prices and this would've been without sides. Ok let's back the word train up and start again. I asked about the sausage to see if this would be worth it and bingo...Hillshire Farms. Nope. Ok scratch that order and I'll take the two meat combo with ribs, lean brisket with bark and minimal fat (trying to watch my health now) and the Summer Cool Cole Slaw and Southern Potato Salad. I failed to make sure sauce was on the side. The plate was delivered and as you notice above they do serve sauce on it. Fortunately for me there was enough naked meat that I could make a substantial judgment on the brisket. The meat was outstanding. It was tender, moist enough with minimal fat, crust was perfect and the pecan smoked flavor sealed the deal. I quickly began scraping off the remaining sauce. The ribs met the same unfortunate fate with a sauce bath as well. I worked my way around it and found rather pleasant tasting ribs minus the pecan smoke flavoring. With hints of cayenne and pepper the rib meat came off with a slight tug and melted in my mouth. Both sides were among the best I've came across. On the fence of 3 and 4 stars I opted with 4. I'm beginning to realize that just because ribs don't have bark or the smokey flavor everyone thinks should exist doesn't mean they suck. Stanley's Famous has won best ribs in Texas before and they're just damn good ribs. You won't find a heavy smoke flavor to them or a sweet sticky crust. Off the Bone's ribs are done their way like it or not. The brisket rivaled Pecan Lodge on this day. I want to challenge Off the Bone. First, please look into local handmade sausage and ditch the Hillshire Farm. This could separate you from many others. You have the quality product needed which brings me to my second request. Serve the sauce on the side. Let the meat stand on it's own and there will be no dissatisfaction.

Anyplace called Off the Bone should have amazing ribs, so that's what I ordered and expected. The ribs were certainly not bad, but I struggled a bit to finish my single order of 3 ribs. I think personally I found it to be a bit dry and crumbly (hence, falling off the bone) vs moist and tender. In any case, these ribs did not stick out in my memory enough to make me salivate as I'm writing this. But I tried some fabulously tender smoked whole chicken and a nice tasting sausage. There's definitely nothing big to complain about here and the folks here were nice and the space small but cozy. It's just not my favorite rib in town.

Decided to come here since the beloved Smokey John's on Gaston is closed. Based on the glowing reviews, was hoping that we would have a new BBQ home. Umm...I must have come on an off day, or people are getting paid to write positive things. I am more than willing to pay $15-20 for my traditional 2 meat/2 side plate. But at least make it palatable. The brisket and pulled pork were dry with no smoke ring or any decent crust on it. Smoked sausage seemed like it was pulled from the grocery store and microwaved. Potato salad was blended flavorless mashed potatoes with yellow color. And the cole slaw...don't put blue cheese and bacon in a heavy cream sauce with some cabbage and call it cole slaw. It was absolutely disgusting. The charro beans tasted like canned Mexican fast food. Then paired with fancy wheat bread....? My brain got lost there. We were there for 15 min tops, and couldn't choke down anymore. Waste of $35. Would of rather gone to Dickie's, Spring Creek, or any other corporate sellout chain than support this local business. Ps- one last thing...registered food manager certificate, issued from the city of Dallas, expired 2 years ago, and still proudly hanging on the wall. Yeah, I'll pass on ever going here.

If u are in Dallas, this BBQ place is a must. The baby back ribs were so tender they fell right off the bone and the deep fried spicy corn on the cob was tasty...spicy & sweet. Our party ate every meat they had available...pulled pork, chicken & sausage,&brisket and all of itr was like eating at a southern grandma's house

My husband & I finally got to try this place & let's just say we'll be going back to try the other meats. We both ordered the same thing... Sliced brisket sandwiches with baked beans & lemon pound cake for dessert. The brisket was so tender it fell apart as we cut it. The flavor was great! Our visit was late after 10pm & brisket was still moist & flavorful. So why only 3 stars?!? Well the buns were tiny & hard for that gourmet look. Just throw us some white bread or burger buns & this would've been better to consume & enjoy. The pickles, I must say made me gag! Butter pickles instead of dill? Booooo!!!! The beans were very good. Next we'll have to try the potato salad. It looked southern style with mustard... Yum! On to dessert... Next time I'll get peach cobbler. The lemon pound cake itself was top notch but the error in this was the overpowering sour taste of the icing. Major sad face... We both just ate around it. Staff was very professional & friendly. If you're in the area... STOP & give them a try!

Umm....is this what BBQ is that people rave about? I went here based on the yelp reviews and I did not enjoy it. The BBQ sauce was mehh.. the brisket was ok, nothing I cant get anywhere else. The BBQ was not good but the side were tasty. BBQ ribs tasted like they were marinated in Manwich... The sloppy joe juice. The brisket was mediocre at best. The smoked chicken was very very dry. We loved the cole slaw and potato salad. Need less to say we will never be back.

As my plane was stuck on the tarmac at DFW, I kept looking at my watch. 11:31p....11:48p.....12:04a......The slow person in front of me at the Hertz didn't help either. When I finally got to the counter the first thing I asked for was my Garmin and entered in "1734 South Lamar St" which led me to the promise land. Having no clue where this place was, it was the start of my BBQ adventure and an amazing place to begin in the wee hours of the morning. Service was very friendly and my meal was delivered just as quick; an order of ribs and order of the chopped brisket. The smell immediately engulfed my car as I drove back across town to my hotel. Even checking in the smell started to take over the lobby when someone at the hotel asked where I just visited. "Off The Bone" was my reply and they nodded and smiled; good sign from a local who knows his stuff. Forget unpacking or calling the Mrs to let her know I arrived as I was about to enjoy some of the most amazing BBQ. The ribs were perfect without too much fat and just the right amount of sauce. While I prefer my brisket sliced, the chopped was better than I expected. In a little over 40 minutes, there was nothing left but the wonderful aroma. I didn't have a chance to make it back before I left but next time I'm in Dallas, will once again be the first stop!

Off the bone?, more like, OFF THE HOOK! Sorry, i just had to say that. This place really is what everyone says. Friendly people who know how to make great food. I really like the feel of the place. Somewhere you can kick back and grub down on some good food, without worrying if you have BBQ on your face or not. Simply because everyone else was doing the same thing. The sides i had were great as well and had good portions. The only major complaint i had was the sides i had were cold/ no longer warm. The bbq i had was almost the same. I also had to wait awhile to get it(really no major complaint on that though). A simple menu with excellent food always make for a winner in my opinion and with the amount of reviews and stars i would say this one is!

Excellent BBQ at a great price. Very friendly staff. They made our group of fifteen feel right at home 1700 miles away from home. The ribs were delicious and cole slaw with bacon bits!?! Awesome! If you are in Dallas, go to Off the Bone!

Loud! The little area for eating is concrete and the sound just bounces. The food was good, but not good enough to bring me back over and over again. Most of my items were a little on the cool side. Personally I like my meats/meals HOT. Service was friendly. Overall "A-ok" nothing to write home about though.

Let it be said, Off The Bone's dry-rubbed chopped brisket is a culinary work of art. Perfectly spiced, long-smoked and finished to tender excellence, with an assertive (but well-balanced "kick"). The bleu cheese slaw is an excellent plate addition. Service is friendly and welcoming, although the setting is more "cowboy" than "connoisseur." Packaged commercial beverages are the only alternative to the grossly over-sweetened iced tea-- perhaps the only significant downsides to what would otherwise merit a five star review.

Very solid BBQ joint on the southside. Since moving downtown, I started looking for a go-to BBQ stand and this one wins by proximity, no doubt. They do pretty good ribs and a quality brisket - the two things I always look to first when checking out new BBQ. The rest of the menu is pretty standard BBQ fare IMO. If I'm craving BBQ and don't want to drive far, this is where I go.

Dude. Still my fav BBQ jernt AND now they have fresh brewed sweet tea. GOOD fresh brewed sweet tea. I love this place so much I want to make them T shirts to wear that says "this shit is legit" :) The owners are still super nice, I bought a bottle of water but downed it before my food even came and he came over and brought me another one. Good food, great people. Just overall a good local business to support.

There are a lot of things to be excited about in Dallas, one of which is barbecue. That's right, some good ole down home Texas barbecue. Being the greedy soul that I am, I suggested we order a whole rack of ribs and a pound of brisket. My friend also picked up some dessert. We finished less than half the ribs and brisket and she took the rest home. Definitely good stuff. If I was 10 years younger I would have eaten the whole rack no problem. Once in San Diego when I was a saucy young thang, I went out on a date with some guy. He was one of the first Asian guys that I went out with, and I didn't want to scare him. So when it came time to order, I demurely chose half a rack of ribs instead of a whole rack. The food came. He got a phone call. He answers (total no-no), and hangs up after 2 minutes. When he looked up, all that was in front of me was a basket of bones. I polished off those six tiny ribs faster than a pack of hyenas in a drought. Awkwardly, he suggested that I order another half rack. I shyly refused. Then he ordered another half a rack for me instead. And again, that was gone within minutes. So the moral of the story: just get the whole damn rack to start with. And if the dude can't handle it, he's not the one. Also, stay off the damn phone unless you're a doctor on call. My friend, ironically, was a doctor on call and dayum she looked good. I haven't seen her for ten years and back then she was all skinny. I see Texas has filled her out. She kept on pulling up the top of her dress. I was distracted and had difficulty focusing. Some dudes driving by saw us through the window and came in to kick it, and to pick up some food to look normal (see how we bring you business Off the Bone?). We stayed there for hours just catching up and saying inappropriate things in the glassy dining area. The guys behind the counter were all super friendly and accommodating. Just remember to order the half rack unless have an appetite like I used to.

SMACK. THAT. All on the floor. SMACK THAT. Give me some more. The ribs really are that good here. You can order everything else, pulled pork, sides, biscuits, and it's all delicious but they don't hold a bieber-sized candle to the ribs. At one point I gingerly picked one of these amazing ribs up, ready to inhale when all the bbq-drenched meat on the sides...fell off. It was so tender it slipped right off, back onto the plate, splattering smoky, vinegary BBQ sauce. It was so beautiful, so delicious. If you don't believe me just get in line and wait for the free sample of ribs they give out to their customers.

Sauce was good. Latina chick making biscuits was hot. The collared greens = good. The meat fell off the bones of my rib order. 'Nuff said.

This is a really interesting place, and I'd recommend that anyone who is a fan of barbecue check it out. It looks like it used to be a little shack, but then when it became more popular they built on a little front patio which is covered, which is nice when the weather's not that great. I had the ribs and brisket and my wife had ribs and pulled pork. The meat was really tasty, with a nice smoky flavor. The only downside was that the meat was quite oily. I understand that pork has a certain amount of fat to it but it seemed to be pooling a little but underneath the meat. Once you got past that, it was pretty darn delicious. The sides were kind of interesting, but the regular baked beans were actually the best. I definitely check it out again.

In the grand scheme of the BBQ I've had, this is just middle of the road. It's good, but not exceptional. In terms of all the BBQ joints out there, this is certainly in the upper tier. It just doesn't compare to some of the North Carolina and Memphis BBQ I've had. That said, I had a two meat platter, brisket and ribs after asking and finding out that their sausage wasn't home made, just smoked on site. The ribs are ultra fall off the bone, which I've been told is actually a sign that they're a tad overdone. But still tasty. Good pork flavor, could have had a little more smoke, and served with sauce on them. Had I known, I think I would have asked for them unsauced. The brisket was chopped and also sauced - this was good tasting, but again with very little smoke that wasn't covered up by the sauce. It was still pretty juicy, but again, may have been benefiting from sauce. My beans and cole slaw were good - beans had a little pork and some jalapeno in them, which can turn even out of the can baked beans in to something so much better. Slaw was pretty standard creamy rough cut slaw, but without 50% onion as filler, which is worth points from me. It's a bit expensive for lunch, but it's also a ton of food and better food than I'd normally eat at lunch. So I can forgive it that. Staff are very friendly, and the place is nice (although in a bit of a random spot). If I needed quick hit BBQ, I'd come back.

Dwight Harvey has a winner!!! Only in Dallas for 2 days, and this was our second BBQ joint. Have to say of the two, it was by far the best. The brisket was smoky and the ribs were tender. My son had the links which he loved, but his favorites were the tacos rolled in tortillas and the hot sauce. Sides were good - we had Charro Beans, Tri-Colored Spiced Pasta, Honey Spiced Baked Beans and Southern Potato Salad, AND the peach cobbler was great! I could not eat all of mine so took it back to the hotel and warmed it up for dinner - still yummy!!! Dwight came out and shook hands - a wonderful gesture....and our waitress, Andrea (hope I remembered it right), was sweet and very personable - a real cutie! Off the Bone may be small in size, but it's big in flavor and friendliness. A great combo!

This place is on the outskirts of Dallas downtown. Small joint with limited seating. Ordered the short ribs with fries and their bean sausage soup with bread. The ribs was seasoned pretty good, but the sauce was whatever. The only thing I will rave about is their bean sausage soup thing. SO good and SPICY! It was crazy seeing a homeless man ask for money inside the restaurant. LOL, WTF is going on here! The guy who worked here, apologized about it. This place was far from my parents house and apparently wasn't the best spot in Dallas to have bbq. It was worth a try, but didn't leave me a lasting impression.

BFF and I finally made it to OTB, after months of talking about it. My many Yelper friends did not let us down; it was simply just awesome! Love the enclosed dining area; can't imagine sitting outside on a 99 degree June day, KUDOS to the OTB folks who made the great decision to offer a/c seating. We were the first there on a Saturday morning. Wow, such friendly, welcoming service. Didn't even get any funny stares when we obviously over ordered for just two of us. We had taken our small cooler of Heinken and Miller Light, and was surprised to see that they now have their liquor license, with a large stocked fridge of several different brews. Okay, take cooler back to the car, and help ourselves to one from their supply. ICE COLD and a great compliment to the meal. FOOD, the important stuff: Brisket - 1/2 lb - probably the best ever gorged upon, and our fave of the meal. That beautiful pink ring along the side; perfectly smoked, moist and so tender that taking a bite with the plastic fork was challenging. It just fell apart. Literally melted in the mouth. 5 fat stars! Ribs - 1/2 rack;- yes, as the name states, fall off the bone tender. I loved these bones, more so than BFF. He thought they were good, but preferred the brisket. Drizzled some of the yummy BBQ sauce and ahhh, could have drank from the bottle. Just sweet enough, with the hint of vinegar. 4 stars for this gem! Baked Beans - our favorite of the sides. Thick, sweet, onion-y, just delcious. Could have had more of those 4 stars legumes. Tri-Colored Pasta - Really liked this; pasta perfectly cooked, with red and yellow bits of peppers and a nice light dressing. Quite good. 3.5 stars. Cole Slaw - the only fail to the meal. Neither of us liked this side, found it a little bland and tasteless, even with the blue cheese bits included. Meh.....1 star. As you may have gathered by now, we had lots of leftovers to take with us; enough to divvy up for another meal for two. Dwight was out in the dining area several times when we were there; nice affable sort of guy, not too talkative, but asked how our meal was. Counter service was most accommodating and cheerful. Can't wait to go back; drooling as I write for some more of this great BBQ!

This is my favorite Dallas BBQ joint to grab a fully loaded chopped brisket potato. This potato is huge and full of chucks of brisket, bbq sauce, butter, bacon, sour cream, cheese, and fresh sliced jalapeños. Yum! A worthwhile stop if you are ever on the south side of Dallas.

The brisket was very moist, the best I have had. The Ribs We're Just As good. The customer service was good. Even though I did not dine in, the atmosphere was great. If you are ever in the D/FW area treat yourself to some fabulous barbeque. You will be glad you did.

The name says it all, because the meat on these ribs literally fall off the bone. As, I was coming from the jazz bar/club; by the name of Brooklyn located on Lamar street, a young gentleman approached me with a business card. I was hesitant for a second, since he was a total stranger handing me a business care out of nowhere. The gentleman asked if I would come across the street to try the ribs, so I did. Whoa! I was in for a total surprise, because these where some kick-ass, get out of my way before I run you over RIBS! These guys really know what barbeque is about, and I will be going back for another rib.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. Depending on where you live, it might be a little drive but well worth it once you get there. First off, they are open until 2 am on Fri/Sat, so if I'm in the area that late you can find me here. The store itself is on the small side but very clean and smells like bbq goodness. Counterservice and small dine in area up front. The ribs have got to be my favorite attraction here. The meat literally falls off the bone. Nicely smoked with a good amount of bbq sauce on top makes this my favorite rib in DFW. The brisket is in chopped fashion but very moist and good flavor. The sides we tried were potato salad and coleslaw but I wasn't too impressed. The cole slaw is topped with bacon bits but still nothing special. They do give you mini buns with the brisket dish so you can make "sliders" with your meat. There was $2 domestics all day on Friday. Overall I was very impressed with OTB. The guys there were really friendly and the joint seems well run. Clean on the inside (although I didn't see a bathroom) and plenty of parking outside. Thumbs up!

Had my girlfriend yelp a highly rated BBQ joint in Dallas on the way back from picking up a car in Virginia. This one was right off the highway, and easy to find. The staff was very friendly and I decided on the two meat meal with brisket and pulled pork. Both were delicious, so good in fact, that I ordered a pulled pork sandwich for the road. The owner and his son were there. Both really friendly, in fact, they even came out to check out my new car! Sent me on my way with a free sample of the ribs for the road. OMG, off the bone describes them perfectly. Excellent flavor of which ive never come close to in a California BBQ joint. Highly recommended!

There's nothing like unique and delicious BBQ. And, Off the Bone fits right in to these categories. My wife and I brought the kids there and we all got the pulled pork, which had a bit of a spicy kick, but was delicious! I really wish someone would have tried something else on the menu. This place has the feel that it hasn't changed in forty years, with the exception of the modern fans and flat screen TV. Just a couple complaints. We called ahead and made a reservation for our party of six. When we got there they hadn't held a table. The seating area is very small and quite cramped. The area that they take the orders is also quite small and while we were there the line spilled out in to the seating area. I will say that the service was very personal and they made an obvious attempt to see that we were comfortable. I look forward to finding a reason to visit downtown and Off the Bone.

Came here for lunch and it was phenomenal! I ordered the two meat, two sides combo. The plate was overflowing meat and sauce. It was a Friday so I felt I can weather through any case of food coma I was surely going to get boy was it food coma... The ribs were my favorite and the sausage was like any sausage I've had. Its a great alternative when the wait for Pecan Lodge up the street is too long.

Finally got a chance to try Off the Bone last night. Little off the beaten path in a developing area of South Dallas. We were politely greeted outside by an older gentleman in an apron who im going to guess was the head smoker. I ordered the 2 meat + 2 sides combo with Ribs, pulled pork, spicy pasta salad, and southern potato salad. I initialy ordered the sausage but they had just ran out. The ribs were flavorful, juicy and had a little heat to them which was an added bonus. The pulled pork was a bit dry but had tons of smokey flavor. The sides were in good portion and had each had a different take on a traditional dish. The pasta had slivers of red and yellow peppers and the potato salad had a perfect hint of celery. The potatoes were the perfect texture too - not too hard, not too soft. Where Off the Bone really stands out against its local competition though is its sauce. The sauce was excellent. I wouldn't be surprised to see it on local shelves in the near future. The building and settings are a bit out of what you would think for a traditional BBQ place, but its obvious the focus of Off the Bone is what goes on in the kitchen. And ill take great BBQ over frivolous amenities any day off week.

Because off the bone is too good, I couldn't dare dream of going to another BBQ place in Dallas! 2 years after my 1st review... it's still the best ribs in Dallas! They have recently built indoor seating that seats about 15 people and counter space for additional visitors. The guys are still as handsome and friendly as the 1st day they opened...

This place is very over rated, me and my family went here on Monday and it was not as good as everyone has stated. I ordered a rib plate with brisket, this was not at all good.. The ribs at Dickies is much better than this. My son and my niece had a chicken and sausage plate and they barley ate that. ( mind you that both of them know what bbq is and knowns when they dont like it.) My husband ordered the rib plate with chicken and the food was not at all good. We spent about $50 and it was not worth it at all..

NOTE: this is a catering review, the only reason I'm rating 4 instead of 5 stars is because I have never stepped foot in their restaurant. Once again the power of Yelp comes to the rescue! I'm located in NYC, and needed to find high quality lunch takeout in Dallas for a planned visit to a client. The Yelp community pointed me in the direction of Off the Bone, and boy am I glad I took their advice. First of all, the website makes it easy to see their catering menu and prices. Second, their response to email inquiries is prompt and courteous. Third, they deliver!! In NYC, this is a given for caterers, but I was having trouble finding the same option in Houston and Dallas. So far, I'm happy. The food: Trust your fellow yelpers when they say go for the honey baked beans and cole slaw. Not many people eat cole slaw, but apparently the guys loved it. I also recommend ordering the smoked pecan ribs- everyone else is just plain bbq, go ahead and spice up the flavor! All in all, this place is an EXCELLENT value for the $ you spend. I only save restaurants in my contacts (and add to Evernote) if they are a smash. The guys from my office have been singing Off the Bone's praises, which makes me look good at my job. Off the Bone FTW!

This is a hard one to rate appropriately, and I'll tell you why - to me, great barbecue is about sauce first, meat second. Overall, this is probably 3.5 stars, but I'm rounding down because I wasn't a huge fan of the sauce. However, these are probably the most tender ribs I've ever had in my life, so a nod to their preparation. I just couldn't get past complete ambivalence to the sauce, I wish it stood out more. The beans were great, the cole slaw was ok (was expecting more bleu cheese flavor) and the service was just fine. Overall, I think I would probably go elsewhere for barbecue simply because of the wide variety of options available in the metroplex, but for those who's first concern with barbecue is the meat itself, please make a stop here at Off the Bone.

The moment we walked in the door, we were offered a free rib. And it was delicious! The meat literally fell off the bone and the sauce was a perfect accompaniment. I then made the mistake of ordering the chicken, which was tough and dry. Should have stuck with the ribs. My dining companions had the chopped beef sandwiches. I tried a bit of the beef, and it was wonderful. The sides are a little limited, but the blue cheese-based cole slaw is quite good. Sweet tea only. I know, it's a southern tradition, but I don't like it. The only other options were bottled drinks. The location is tiny -- maybe an old gas station -- but we got there early, so we had no trouble with parking and seating. So stick with the great beef and ribs, avoid the chicken, get there early.

WOW! Best barbeque I've ever had. During my trip to Dallas and Arlington, I realized, there is not much there (for me at least), until I found Off the Bone (thank you Yelpers!). I'm not familiar with the area, but it seemed like a seedy part of town and I did get strange looks from people in the area, but it was totally worth it. We got a 1/2 rack of ribs, 1 pound of brisket, baked beans and coleslaw. The coleslaw was the only thing that wasn't amazing (it has cheese in it), but it was very good. The ribs had the most meat I've ever seen on ribs and the meat was so tender it just fell off the bone. The brisket was tender and juicy. The barbecue sauce they use is great. Service was very friendly. Looked like they have 2 tables outside and counter inside (no seats). It is a very small place and I think it's intended to be take-out food.

I had the ribs, pulled pork sandwich and pasta. I don't know what the big deal is. The meat did fall off the bone on the ribs, but that's nothing special. I didn't like the vinegar-based sauce. The meat also didn't have the smoky flavor I would expect from a top notch bbq joint. The pasta was good. It's a decent place, but I like Red Hot & Blue better.

Let's face it...BBQ in Dallas stinks. I may soften my stance after visiting this place. I didn't try the ribs but I will when I go back. The brisket was very good and the sausage was great. The baked beans were decent but I'll pass on the potato salad next time, the potatoes were undercooked. Best Q I've had so far in Dallas but still can't touch KC, Memphis, Central TX or Wildhorse Mountain in Oklahoma.

  • Michael H.

I'll make this as simple as possible. If you like ribs, you have to try this place. Best BBQ ribs in Dallas that I've had. It is outside seating, so plan for takeout or go when the weather is halfway decent. The BBQ sauce is really good, but I would recommend getting it on the side. The ribs were so good that the sauce was a little over kill. Ohh and open late on Fri and Sat...Ribs after Lee Harvey's sounds like a great night to me.

Went to Dallas for my birthday (to watch the Warriors play the Mavericks) and was craving BBQ. Eating BBQ from Oakland, I got expectations. We arrived there and it was a small joint. I was expecting a restaurant. My girlfriend and i were skeptical about going in. But we were starving. The guys inside knew we were from out of town and let us sample whatever we wanted. From there we knew it was going to be good. The ribs were delicious. We ordered half a pound of ribs, half a pound of links, and half a pound of brisket after sampling everything. And we also got the beans. This was for 2. It was that good. I was in town for 3 days and tried the BBQ joint at the Macys which people said was better. But i disagree. Off the bone is damn good. Do yourself a favor and go there. The guys also gave us advice on bars, radio stations and other places to eat. They were really friendly.

Are there really that many people who don't know what good BBQ is? The meat was overcooked and dry. Although, the portions were large...that counts when the food is good. Hey, maybe they realized it to..so they were trying to get rid of it. :) If we were going on customer service alone, they would get 5 stars, but we aren't. The sides - I had their infamous ( that's the story I was told) coleslaw with blue cheese and bacon bits,it's an acquired taste, I didn't care for it, and I had the baked beans, which were ok. Would I go back? Not a chance, not unless I'm extending an invite to allow them an opportunity to taste what real BBQ should taste like at my house...because seriously I make better ribs.

Good BBQ! Ribs are awsome A+. The Chop beef sandwich was tastey but it was a little heavy on the sauce - order it on the side.

First time here since I moved to Dallas 3 years ago, which is an injustice that has now been corrected. I was in the neighborhood for a meeting, so I stopped in for lunch. I had the 2 meat combo ... ribs, chopped brisket, baked beans and potato salad. The ribs are amazing and exactly how described elsewhere, totally how I like them. I like the vinegar tanginess of sauce, being an expat from the Carolinas. The chopped brisket was heaven. The beans were lovely with all sorts of flavors that make them unique. The potato salad was pretty good too, but nothing to rave about. BTW the 2 meat combo was huge, I came with a big apetite and left with a brisket dinner in a box (the ribs were gone). All in all, a solid BBQ joint and 4 stars for the food. I also give them the 5th star for atmosphere, friendliness, and service. The owner came by twice to see how I was (he even gave me a napkin as I was having a rib). The counter girl was super nice, as were the two other guys working there. All smiles and like family. I will be back ... alot!

The ribs are tender and truly fall off the bone. The reasn it is 4 stars instead of five is because I prefer thicker bbq sauce, but sauce aside the meat is flavorful and cooked to perfection. Other items worth trying is the potatoe salad and baked beans. There is enclosed seating but I took my food to go so seating wasn't an issue for me.

I don't give many 5 star reviews, but here's one now. Hand's down, best BBQ in Dallas. Far and away better than Dickey's, Sonny Bryans, and Spring Creek. I was driving around Saturday and thought it would be too decadent to eat Fuel City two days in a row. Plus the line was so long, it bored me to tears. I recalled the reviews OTB has been getting and used my handy Yelp app on my iPhone to get the details. The Urbanspoon app for the iPhone is fun, but for content, Yelp kicks ass. I couldn't actually find it. Luckily, the street was deserted, so I was able to stop in the middle of the street and look around. I think a bigger sign would be nice, but that's nitpicking. Walked in and was greeted by the beautiful aroma of fantastic BBQ. The guys behind the counter gave me a free sample of ribs and I swear I wet myself, just a little. Freakin awesome. I had a little of everything. I ordered the chicken, and my dad had the brisket sandwich. The potato salad was pretty good, but it needed a little salt. I probably could have used some jalapenos or hot sauce or both. I'll be back this week the check out some of the other items. Luckily for me, they're only 10 mins away from my house.

I was traveling downtown on the dart rail and decided to stop at the Cedars to try Off the bone barbeque for lunch. I love good barbeque. I walked in and was promptly greeted by a friendly staff. I decided I would try their sausage with the baked beans and coleslaw. They brought my order out to their very small dining area. I am glad I did not go during the peak of lunch time, it would have been to cold and windy to eat outside on that day. Now as far as the meal, the portion was a little on the small side but still adequate. The sausage had good flavor that was not overpowering. I had them put the sauce on the side so I could taste the meat rather than a lot of sauce. The little bit of sauce that I did use was tasty without being too sweet. The unexpected surprise were the side items. The baked beans had green onions to offset the sweetness of the honey and the coleslaw had blue cheese to give it just the right amount of tang. All in all, it was a very satisfying and tasty meal. I am looking forward to trying the ribs on my next visit.

This has got to be the BEST barbeque I have had in my 50+ years of eating Southern barbeque!!! The restaurant is a small 30's renovated gas station with 5 outdoor tables; it started in May 2008 when owner (and chef) Dwight Harvey and his family decided to put their many years of catering experience into starting this small place with offerings of baby back ribs, BBQ brisket and smoked chicken and sausage. The sides are southern potato salad, honey spiced beans, spiced pasta and the best cole slaw (with cabbage, peppers, onion and a touch of blue cheese). . The orders are large and cheap ---you can be "stuffed" for under $8 and the chef will offer you samples to help you decide what you want. The location is only a couple of miles from Union Station and an easy walk from the Cedars metro stop. (Call for directions ---they love the business and are the friendliest family and wait staff!) Hopefully, before cold weather, renovations will be done to allow indoor eating ---but this place is just TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE!

HOLY HEAVENS! Oh Giant Barbecue in the Sky! These ribs are made in a special place in heaven and brought down to Off the Bone for you to feast on. The service is...rough around the edges. the guy at the register is a little cranky and in need of a hug BUT IT DOESNT EVEN MATTER CAUSE THE FOOD ROCKS! I come from a land where BBQ overwhelmingly sucks so I have a tendency to approach BBQ expecting disappointment. I did not find that here! The ribs were juicy, fall of the bone good. The sauce is tangy enough to make a difference without overwhelming the taste of the meat. We ordered almost all of the sides and nothing disappointed. The french fries are super spicy and compliment the meal so well. That and the corn really stood out to me. The place is small and it is constantly packed. You will not be disappointed!

Small area inside and waiters have a somewhat hard time looking to deliver food. Ribs - great tasting flavor. Price - moderate Seating - not great for large groups. The inside of the restaurant is not too large. Service- counter order. Smileys and friendly. A nice place to take out of town guests after a day of tour in the big D for authentic Texas BBQ.

We're staying in Downtown Dallas for the weekend, and we decided to go out for a nice dinner. We found this place on Yelp and decided to walk there. All I can say is...holy crap. When we walked in, we were greeted by two jubilant men who were extremely friendly, and hilarious. They gave us a free sample of a whole piece of the smoked pecan babyback ribs, on the bone. First of all, this was the biggest sample I've ever been given from anywhere. Second of all, it was the most delicious rib I've ever had. I hardly even had to bite into it; it fell apart on contact with my teeth. And on top of that, the flavor was fantastic, and didn't taste much like pecans at all. When I placed my order, I asked for the combo with one choice of meat and two sides. I had the smoked pecan babyback ribs with potato salad and tri-colored pasta, and came out having paid $11.95 for a meal that left me waddling, but satisfied. It doesn't look like much, but it's quite a sizable amount of food. I tried bits of my friend's brisket, and I've gotta say, that was such a fantastic brisket. It fell apart easily, as the ribs did, and it wasn't one bit chewy. It was the perfect cut of meat. And as far as the sides go, the tri-colored pasta was alright, but not for me. The potato salad was incredibly flavorful. And from what my friend told me, the cole slaw was very fresh and put together with care. Overall, if you're in the area, I highly suggest stopping by this eatery. Not only will you be pleased with the quality of the employees, but you'll also be left wanting to come back again and again. And we will!

The food is excellent and ribs are very meaty with a great rub! The corn on the cob is my absolute favorite! This is a must try! Off the bone the is very fitting! The staff is very friendly and the service is exceptional!

I stopped by here on a recent trip to Dallas to catch a football game. I live in California, so this was my first time experiencing some real authentic Texas barbeque. I never order barbeque in California because everything is over-marinated with poor meat quality. This however, was the opposite. This was the least messiest barbeque I've ever experienced, as well as the best tasting. The atmosphere was very quaint and welcoming. You step into the kitchen to make your order then grab a seat in the main room, which seems like an extension from the original building. The two men working the kitchen were very welcoming to us! When we mentioned it was our first time in Dallas, they were more than happy to give us some sample ribs. I was sold from that point on. I ordered two rib tacos. These tacos are only $2 each, and they are filled up with lots of meat! Probably two ribs worth. Definitely a great deal and great taste. It had a nice kick but wasn't too spicy. My friends ordred ribs and brisket, and everything was tender and juicy. I probably won't be back in Dallas for years, but if I do, I'll definitely be giving this place another visit.

Best barbecue in Dallas, hands down. Pulled pork is moist and seasoned to perfection! Their BBQ sauce is perfectly spivey, with a consistency that is not too thick nor to vinegary. Amazing. Enough said.

Being in Texas now, I don't think I've had a chance to really get to know the BBQ scene just yet. One hectic Friday afternoon I was just drained from work, and overloaded with stress.. As I thought what would make my perfectly at ease night with Netflix, a hearty BBQ meal came to mind! I ordered the two meat combo, which included the chopped brisket and ribs. The two sides I decided on were the honey spiced baked beans and potato salad. I also had a side of their fried corn as it was their specialty. Ribs: Amazing! Fall off the bone good! No wonder the name of this restaurant is Off the Bone.. because these ribs are delish! Get it! Brisket: Don't know if it's because they gave me chopped but it just wasn't impressive. It was pretty dry and not that flavorful that I didn't even end up eating it. Instead I used it the next day to incorporate in a scramble... :/ Honey spiced beans: I know they say this is one of the top rated things.. but to me it just tasted like standard bbq beans with a little tang.. Good but nothing special Potato salad: I'm biased, I don't love potato salad.. but it was perfectly seasoned and not too much excessive mayo Fried corn: Definitely the show stopper here! Oh man! This isn't battered then fried, it's just simply fried to the point where when you bite on the cob, the kernels just pop off! It's slathered with butter, some spicy seasoning and served with a lime wedge! Don't forget to use that lime, because it just takes it to the next level! All this for about $17 bucks.. Was it awesome..? Well, it was just okay. The ribs and the fried corn will definitely have me coming back. But the rest I will be on a quest to find better somewhere in Dallas!

Brisket was good but pulled pork was fatty and cold. The portion side is small for $14 dollars. I would try ribs next time.

My boyfriend and I visited Dallas from Washington DC and delicious BBQ was on our bucket list while there. This place came highly recommended to us by residents we asked. The place is not fancy and doesn't seem to be in the best part of the city so have low expectations for ambiance however if you want delicious BBQ and paper napkins this is the place to go. We had the brisket, potato salad and spicy fries. I'd fly back to Dallas to eat this meal again. Pure food bliss.

Pretty good, but lack of a couple of essential bbq items bring it down to a 3-star for me. The service was good, the price was ok ($12 for 3 ribs, a corn cob, and a dollup of cole slaw), the place had a nice home-y feel to it, the ribs were good, as was the cole slaw and fried corn. But they had no hot sauce (whaaa?) and their only sides are pretty much beans and cole slaw. I would expect a bbq place to have mac & cheese, collards, or some sort of veggie. I'd go again.

Otw into Dallas for the FSU vs OSU game we were craving for bbq so pulled up Yelp and came across this place. The combos are reasonably priced. The ribs are delicious and the star of the plate though was the potato salad in the bf's eyes. We ordered two combos for 3 of us to share and had plenty to take togo. Even warmed up in the microwave later it was a good treat!

What an unbelievable gem. My friends and I flew into Dallas today and didn't know where to go. On the way to our hotel we simply Yelp'ed "Texas BBQ" and this place was the closest. THANK GOD IT WAS!!! This place was amazing. These were the best ribs I have had in all of texas. Small little "joint". Love the Texas joint atmosphere. Great job gents. Keep up the great work!

I had the opportunity to have lunch here this week on a recommendation of a coworker. He was right on with this spot serving some great food. The building looks like an old gas station from the 50's and has had a dining area added to the front. Walking up to the counter to order, you can see all the food prep area and it all looked delicious. I went with the 2 meat/2 side plate. Brisket and sausage with bean and fried corn on the cob. It was all great. The service was wonderful and we were checked on several times during lunch. By 11:30am, it was full. So get there early and enjoy!

LOVEEEE THIS PLACE! I live in California and anytime I'm in town I MUST go here. The ribs alone are the best but it doesn't end there. The corn, let me just say, mmmmmm. And their special BBQ Baked beans are just wonderful. I love every item on the menu pretty much. The brisket and pulled pork are, in a word, YUM! The inviting family friendly atmosphere of the staff is stellar and it always makes me smile and laugh whenever I'm there. Great people! If you're just passing through the Dallas area or been around a long time, let me say, make the effort to go here. You won't be disappointed.

This is a Dallas BBQ legend which has been visited by celebs. I ordered brisket with ribs. I tried the cole slaw and potato salad. I am going start with the best which is the cole slaw made with blue cheese. That was excellent and the potato salad was good too. The meat was good but honestly kind of salty and dry. I was hoping for a little more moist and meaty from the ribs. I would try it again just to get more cole slaw!

Try another bbq joint. This one is not good. The brisket was ok but fatty. The cole slaw was horrible. One of the cook is slicing pepper near the window with his naked hands....

I was jonesing for some Texas BBQ before my flight home. Found this little joint that was walking distance from my hotel. It's in a kinda weird spot, not much going on in the area so you might not spot it when driving by. The place is small but the BBQ has big flavor. I opted to try the smoked links & pecan smoked baby back ribs. The links we're super moist and tasty while the ribs fell right of the bone just like the restaurants name. My meal was came w/ 2 sides, a creamy and delicious cole slaw that had its own unique twist of blue cheese and bacon crumbles and some diced onions. The other side was a scoop of their potato salad. Overall satisfied my BBQ craving and definitely recommend if you are in the Southside of Dallas.

I went to Off The Bone BBQ today and it was great! The brisket was one of the best in town. The slices were tender and not chewy. It seemed to melt in my mouth. It had a great bark and I could taste the smoke. I smoke brisket a lot myself, and can never get this good of a taste. You can tell they spend a long time with it on the huge smoker on the side of the building. The BBQ sauce went really well with the meat. I also had the potato salad. I like potato salad for the most part and at this place I loved it. It was above and beyond better than I've ever had. I also had the baked beans. They were ok, but not the best I've had. I go to BBQ places for the smoke and meats. The sides are an afterthought for me. Having said that, I now have two favorite BBQ places in Dallas. If you've never been here, try it out! It's worth the drive. I will be back.

We are from out of town and were pleasantly surprised to stumble upon this restaurant. We got the family size sampler and it was plenty of food for our family of four. Ribs were fantastic! Service was great, cooks and behind the counter were very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back when we come this way. Thanks!

Why have I not been here until tonight?!? Everything was amazing. We had the brisket and sliced sausage, potato salad, & slaw (slaw was not my style, but I'm from the Deep South). They also gave us samples of the ribs... Slid right off the bone & SO TENDER & flavorful. Also, this place is CLEAN, including the bathroom. We have found our go to BBQ place in Dallas!!

Food was delicious! My only dislike was that the ribs seemed cold from the inside, like they had been in the fridge and warmed up earlier in the day. Sausage, Chicken, Beans, Corn and Potato Salad were ALL delicious. Peach cobbler was just the way I like it. Equal parts peaches and crust...

I was looking for a quick, light, lunch near Southside on Lamar. A search turned up this place and a Mexican restaurant. I opted for some Q. The lightest option I saw was a sandwich, so I went for the sliced brisket and a Michelob Ultra (yes, they do have beer). The meat was fantastic. Nicely smoked and not over cooked. The odd thing is that the sandwich was served on two slightly stale whole-wheat dinner rolls, of which I only ate one. On the side were a few fragments of onion and a single small slice of sweet, delicious, pickle. I would have liked more of that. The sauce on the table had the right mix of tangy and sweet. Bottom Line: It was a good choice for lunch, I just wish the bread, I mean rolls, were fresher. Oh, there's a good selection of photos on the wall. I presume of the owner with famous, or semi-famous, customers. I did not recognize anyone, but I'm bad with faces. If you can lend any insight as to who they are, please message me.

We ate here for the 1st time, because down the street, the line would have been an hour to get in Pecan Lodge....our lucky day. The baby back ribs were the best I've had anywhere, including Franklin's in Austin, and Pecan Locge. And the beef sausage was excellent, just the right bite. Unfortunately the fries are frozen, not fresh cut. However, the potato salad is excellent. The manager, John, check to make sure everyone is taken care of. This is now our "go to" for barbecue.

  • Kelly C.

Yum! GET the RIBS! I ate the best baby backs I've had since the last time I made them myself on a BGE with my special sauce and smoking technique! Their BBQ sauce has a good flavor, nothing special, not too spicy, heat was just right. I also had deep fried corn. It was tasty, but I could have tolerated some variety as far as toppings. Some butter, parmesan cheese and chalula would have been great on this corn! Another member of my party had the smoked chicken and said it was good. She also had potato salad and beans and reported that they were both great! This place is cozy, so if you go for a sitdown lunch, go early unless you plan to get food to go.

Wow! Excellent find in Dallas! Located in an old gas station the BBQ was some of the best ice had. I had pulled pork with spicy charro beans and potato salad. Excellent flavor, great taste. The owner even brought out some pecan smoked ribs to try. I will definitely stop back the next time I am in Dallas. Plus, I was told I looked like the Sonic guy which was hilarious. Great service, great food, great place!

Great Texas bbq. Great smokey smell inside and ashes floating around outside. No doubt - this is the real deal. Melt in your mouth pulled pork. AMAZING deep fried corn on the cob! I ordered the slaw because I love bleu cheese. It was good with bell peppers in it. EXCELLENT service. (Indoor seating 8-4 tops and counter seating for 8. 4-4tops outside)

Oh snap this place has the "BEST BBQ BRISKET EVER," wow this place was bomb. They have some great BBQ in Dallas I knew I was going to try BBQ in Texas and this place did not disappoint. I really loved the service here when they heard I was out of town they recommended a lot of great items and everything went down excellent. The place is in an industrial part of town and off the beaten path but it is well worth the search. The place is small and possibly seats 40 satisfied customers. The kitchen and counter is separated from the dining area which is good because if I smelled their cooking while I dined I would probably never leave. I like the fact that this place is small clean and well-staffed. I received my food in about 3 minutes and it looked great. Brisket: Well-cooked good smoke and soft and juicy, simply delicious. Ribs: Flavorful and the meat fell off the bone and the taste was amazing. Coleslaw: Had a kick to it and I think the hint of blue cheese made it unique to other Cole slaws I have had. Charro Beans: Dang they had a kick but it was so addicting but if you are not a chili head I would order a different side dish. Onions and pickles: My order came with these items underneath and I must say they add that little something my food need. Good call, "Off the Bone BBQ." BBQ sauce: sweet and tangy and bit spicy which you can tell that I am into. All around good spot and I can't wait to return here on my next visit because it is a go to spot.

Funky little place on the edge of downtown Dallas. We walked in and were asked if it was our first time there...we said yes and were given a free rib! It was GOOD. Both our sandwiches were great, sauce was good, sides were good. My only complaint is the seating area is cramped and small...I'm not sure what this building used to be but it's an awkard set up for a restaurant. Owners were there talking with people to see how everything was, really great vibe in the place. We'd go back if in the Dallas area again!

This was a great BBQ place. Was here from San Diego for a work trip and was impressed with the food. A small family owned shop. Everyone was friendly and of course the meat was off the bone.

For lunch with my parents, my mom usually wants to celebrate with Tex Mex and my dad to stay clean with healthy salads, I was given the full power, on this day, to pick. This good BBQ place seemed to me down home enough to coddle their country southern roots and a perfect way to celebrate what would have been my recently deceased maternal grandmothers birthday. A bit away from it all, at 12:30 their was a line and the place was full. At first glance the menu looked, not as I remembered, pricey - $14 for 2 meats and 2 sides, $10 for just one meat. I got crazy and just ordered a half pound of brisket with no sides. My elderly parents got the one meat plate, assuming they'd have left overs. We cleaned our plates. My moms fresh cole slaw salad had bits of blue cheese and bacon making it uniquely rich. The potato salad was scooped in a ball, tasted made that day and glowed yellow like my grandmas. My dad's beans were cooked with bacon with moist bits. The brisket was dry, but lean, and smoky, the BBQ sauce was very sweet and a bit tangy. Service was prompt and friendly and efficient on this busy lunch rush, and although the brisket was not as moist and succulent as my last visit - it is still a very good BBQ in Dallas, leaving the top notch BBQ Texas city honors firmly to Austin.

I was so hungry when we showed up, I almost wanted to ask for the sides immediately. At around 2 on Saturday, most tables were full but there wasn't a line. I ordered the 1 meat 2 sides: a pulled pork sandwich with the potato salad and baked beans. The pulled pork was so good. (much better than the brisket tbh). It didn't need much sauce, it wasn't really dry. Good stuff. I also ordered the baked beans which were more of a 3 star for me. If beans could be described as al dente, these beans are that. Weird? It was a little sweet and there was meat in mine....unless that was just the puled pork from my sandwich. The potato salad was the so good. I love a nice mustardy potato salad and this was good stuff. I honestly inhaled it so I can't remember many details. I think there was onion in it? The staff is so nice and welcoming. I felt right at home immediately!

I really did not like this bbq place. Food was cold and the potatoe salad tasted like it was store bought with added potatoes. I really was craving good bbq and I can't see why this place has so many 4 and 5 star reviews. The ribs were horrible way over seasoned. I had a pulled pork sandwich which was edible after you put a ton of bbq sauce in it. I also tried the fried corn which I liked. Sad that the corn was the only thing I actually liked. My hubby got brisket and ribs and those weren't good either. Should've just waited in the line at pecan lodge. :/

This is an unpretentious BBQ place. It kind of threw me off soon as we got there because there was no warning whatsoever on yelp! Well, here you go....This is a VERY casual place. Kind of like a pick up window with outdoor seats, except the seating is enclosed. Also seating is limited. The people that work there are great! Seems like they enjoy what they're doing and it makes the whole experience very memorable. Ordering us easy and we have no complaints about the food. Ordered both the chopped brisket and ribs with side of potato salad and fries. I liked it so much, I ordered some to go to bring to CA! My friends ordered the sandwiches, the BBQ chicken and they all liked what they have. I wanted to try the corn but they ran out The owner was there chatting with us and making sure we were taken cared of. I always think that's awesome when owners do that

*I am not gonna say Off the Bone was off the hook *I am not gonna say Off the Bone was off the hook *I am not gonna say Off the Bone was off the hook I had lunch at Off the Bone with a couple of buddies and it was off the hook. DAMMIT! This is a legit BBQ joint - one that you could easily pass by if you weren't looking for it. It's in the boondocks - surrounded by industrial warehouses and factories. With few tables and small menu, what's BIG here is the flavor. What they do, they do very well. My friend and I shared half a pound of sliced brisket, an order of smoked pecan baby back ribs and 8 oz of 3 meat charro beans. It was was extremely delicious. The meats were smoky, well spiced and perfectly tender. It's a close call between the ribs and the brisket and I simply can't pick one over the other. Both are an absolute must. The owner/manager(?) came by and asked us about the food. The smile on his face after our glowing feedback was precious. Obviously someone who cares. We just don't get BBQ like this in NY.

Why is this place only 4 stars? As many Yelpers before me have mentioned this is THE BEST barbeque in Dallas. To the comment about this being the best BBQ in Texas, they are far off. On my side of DFW Angelos is superior. As for the food- I have been eating here for over 3 years. The food never disappoints. TRY THE BEANS. IMO these are the best in Texas. No comments about the music yet- They play Jodeci and RKelly frequently, which throws me back to slow dancing at homecoming dances. Great food, great time!

Meat!! One thing I love about having moved to the south- BBQ in all its smokey glory.. I have had this bad boy bookmarked for a hot minute now.. why haven't I stopped in to eat until today??!! We pulled up and the place almost looked like it was closed- its not very well lit at night and can easily be passed up if you don't know where to look- but you can't escape the delightful smokey aroma that engulfs the tiny building. When you walk in there is a dining room that is one step down from the bar you order at with a tiny open kitchen behind it and a pantry to the right of that. Menu is very simple- ribs, chicken, sausage, pulled pork, and brisket (chopped or sliced). We both opted for the two mean combos that comes with two sides and bread and of course i made him get something different so i could taste it :) Let me say- I am not a BBQ sauce fan.. never have been- more than likely wont ever be mostly because it is way too sweet for me.. but I am so glad I didn't know the meat some slathered in the their "family recipe" sauce. It was tangy with just a hint of kick. i dug into the roasted chicken, sliced brisket and dove head first into the charro beans (so good I wanted another serving- willing to give up finishing the meat) and spicy fries. **Delicious Alert** dip the spicy fries into the charro beans! In between bites i managed to steal a taste of the pulled pork, ribs, potato salad and baked beans- everything was great. about halfway through our meal one of the owners, Ricky, trotted over to refill our drinks- they have sweet tea and homemade lemonade- and we chatted. I asked how busy they got since their Yelp page said they were open till 2am- and he mentioned they closed much earlier than that. When he came back with our drinks i showed him the page and explained i could fix the times if he would have a seat and give me the correct times ( the lobby closes earlier some nights but carry out is still available). He thanked me for fixing the times and let us finish our meals. as we were walking out with our leftovers in tow we waved good bye to all the guys in the kitchen and one of them chased us down on the way to the car with some free lemon pound cake as a thank you for fixing the hours for them. I am totally a customer for life!

For starters, Michael, Kas, and Donald know how to make a customer for life! I brought a friend here who was visiting from out of town. I told Michael it was our first visit to Off the Bone. Kas gave us each a rib to sample. It was DELICIOUS! Michael explained the menu and we ordered. I tried the "spicy corn"-what a twist! Everything about the people and menu was excellent! Thanks, guys!

Spacious parking lot, but not many tables inside. Order at the counter. Whole smoked chicken is around $10 including one side, which is about a cup in measurement. They sell beer and soda as drinks. Each order comes with some bread, and though I never end up eating the bread, the bread here looked good - appeared to have some whole grains in it instead of the usual square white bread slices. The chicken was good, about on par with the whole foods smoked chicken. The skin wasn't too jiggly, and my chicken-skin-loving friend gobbled it down like it was the cat's meow. If I lived nearby (Southside on Lamar), I'd definitely be over here a lot getting chicken, but it's a bit far to go for it otherwise for me. The BBQ sauce on the tables was however, delicious, and that may lure me back for another round or two. The service was friendly and relatively fast. They basically cut the meat to order so that's what you're waiting for. They were happy to provide a take away box for my remaining chicken pieces.

  • Fabian W.

I was very excited when I pulled into the parking lot, the smell of smoked Que in the air. The interior looked like this was going to be an experience to remember. I walked up to the counter and placed an order for the sliced brisket, honey baked beans, and fries. The fries were surprisingly good. Everyone does fries now, but they added a little something to make the stand out, flavorful with a slight kick. Nice. The beans, well. I was expecting something sweet and got knocked over with Jalapeno peppers. Not what I was expecting nor wanted. The brisket, onto the brisket. I was a bit let down. Way way way too much fat. I spent too much time separating meat and fat to enjoy it.

These men. They have a gift. Buy the ribs and be happy. Close your eyes and savor the succulent taste of melt-in-your-mouth ribs with barbecue sauce. If you have a burnt end, then consider yourself lucky, because they are just as good as the rest of the meal. Don't waste any food. Make sure each bone is squeaky clean before you set it down. Believe me, it's worth it.

Wow. Very friendly staff and polite. Had the awesome Sampler Pack. This a counter service restaurant with tables to eat at. But the very friendly staff came around several times to make sure we're ok and if needed anything. I would highly recommend this place for the service alone. But the food. Yummmmmmy. It's not dry and falls jyst right off the bone. Delicious.

Off the Bone is off the hook! Upon entering Off the Bone Barbeque, the friendly guy at the register offered me a free baby back rib and promised me it's the best I have never had. It certainly was and I ordered a whole rack of them. Delicious. More on that later. That sort of marketing trick is the equivalent of me walking up to a girl at a bar, pulling my pants down, and well, I'm going to continue writing about the food before I sound creepier than I usually do in my reviews. Anyway, this is the best barbeque I have ever had. How did I end up eating at this gem? Well, I sell mugs, which is another (tragic) story altogether. But I was at a conference, and I walked by an older, African-American janitor. He smiles, looks me up and down, and we start talking. Janitor: Hey! Now those are some nice shoes, brother. Me: Thank you. My dad always says, "A girl won't think about marrying a guy if he has bad shoes." Pretty sure my dad was drunk when he said that and "marrying" was another verb, but I don't wish to offend you, brother. Janitor: Oh. No worries, brother. I've heard it all. No worries at all. Me: Well, with that said, where does a brother go for good barbeque in Dallas? Janitor: Oh, you need to go to Off the Bone. It's over on South Lamar Street. Across the street from the the police station. It's the only time you'll ever see a brother walk by a police station with a big smile on his face. Me: Well, hot damn. You said it. I didn't. And I know where I'm eating dinner tonight, brother. And that's how I ended up here. Unlike most barbeque joints that use hickory or mesquite wood, Off the Bone uses pecan wood. It gives the meat a unique slightly sweet, fruity flavor with a hint of smoke. Top that off with their spicy BBQ sauce, and what you get is amazing ribs, brisket, and chicken. The sides are good too. This little joint has a really nice staff, and really great food. It must be a crime to serve food that good at those prices. Maybe that's why the police station is across the street? All I know is, this brother came in, set up shop, ate like crazy, walked back to my hotel with a smile, and passed out. Yum.

This place has the best bbq I have ever tried, I'm from California and this is a must stop every year after or before a cowboy game

By far the best BBQ that I have had in Texas and California! You definitely get treated like extended members of the family with both the hospitality and the cooking! Amazing ribs and the brisket fries are dangerously good.

Yummy. Eat the ribs. Come early to get the best cuts of brisket. Late at night you get to the end. Us try the fried corn. Truly a great taste

Place is good! Check it out sometime, food is predictable but still quality stuff. Very fair prices too

Love the ribs at this place! Barbecue had more of a southern taste than what I would normally look for a texan barbecue. The potato salad and baked beans was not the best that I tasted, but I was satisfied. Will come back!

Okay yes, having been to both Pecan Lodge ( yelp.com/biz/pecan-lodge… ) and Lockhart Smokehouse ( yelp.com/biz/lockhart-sm… ), I sort of thought I had the scene figured out in and around Dallas. Pecan Lodge is king (that still holds true by the way), and then there's everything else. Turns out? Well, I was kind of right I suppose. Star 1: How was the service and atmosphere? Is it the ritz and glamor of Dallas? No, but don't let that deter you. Off the Bone has local flavor and a dedicated clientele who scoff in the face of Pecan Lodge's long lines. Service is lightning fast, friendly, and the environment is warm and comfortable. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? You know what? It ain't cheap, and it'll never be cheap. It's barbecue, and good barbecue comes at a premium these days. For $15.86 I landed a half rack of ribs and a side order of beans. Have a look: yelp.com/user_local_phot… Not bad, especially considering that these were some hefty ribs. That's fair. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Ah yes, the real test begins. First and foremost, the consistency. These are fall off the bone ribs without a doubt, and while I like that, it's not necessarily a difficult thing to achieve. You can throw anything in a slow cooker for five or six hours and it'll fall off the bone, and that method comes about at the expense of flavor. That's exactly what happened here. These are good ribs, but they don't have the 'pop' that Pecan Lodge has or the smokey aftertaste that comes about from a proper setup. Again, they're good, but there are better in the city. Single Star Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? There's no doubt that it's good, and while the atmosphere isn't that of Lockhart, I actually liked the food better than at Lockhart. That having been said, Pecan Lodge still reigns supreme in these here parts. No Star Granted.

Really good brisket. Not as smoky as Pecan Lodge. If this place had beef ribs then it would be on par with Pecan Lodge. Spicy Fresh Cole-Slaw and Churro Beans.

The ribs are great. I have been in Texas for about 2 months and these are the best ribs I have had thus far. The chopped brisket was also pretty good. For 2 meats and 2 sides it was around $15. It is plenty of food and every bite was great. If you are looking for BBQ, definitely stop by there. You will not be disappointed.

I was in Dallas for a work related conference and I was directed here for some good ole BBQ. It's a little out of the way from the downtown area and it's in a very unsuspecting small little strip. We were lucky and got to talk to the owners and it's so nice to see three generations working together. Mom and pop restaurants really does it for me. It warms your heart! We ordered some ribs, potato salad and some good ole corn. The ribs literally fell off the bone and was delicious. Perfectly cooked, seasoned, and just mmm deliciousness! I'm writing this review a few weeks after and I've gotta say, I really do miss their corn. The corn is deep fried (remind me, why don't they have these anywhere? Or even at county fairs?) and it's just so delicious! I dream about it time to time. Make sure to get their sweet tea as well!

Had the two meat and two side combo... Worth the money! I had the ribs and smoked chicken. Ribs were fall of the bone tender with good flavor. Wife had ribs and smoked sausage. I tried the sausage and it should have gotten that! It was really good. We also went back and ordered the fresh fried corn which didn't disappoint. Thanks yelp for helping us find a great little BBQ place. And I do mean little. It has 6 tables inside and a few outside. But worth the cramped quarters.

We saw this restaurant rated in Top Ten Best Barbeques in Dallas, and decided on this lazy Labor Day Monday to give it a try. We arrived at 3 PM, and it was still busy! Good sign! I chose the one meat combo which consisted of my choice of Pork Ribs, potato salad, and baked beans. Being from the south and knowing good ribs, I must say Dwight knows how to barbeque! They were finger-licking good! The potato salad was homemade southern style with a touch of mustard, and the beans had just a tiny kick, but were sweet with brown sugar! I had a slice of homemade lemon cake for my dessert. It was moist and tangy! Don't expect this to be in a lavish setting. You order inside at the counter, and someone will bring your order to you. There is limited seating in what looked like a converted patio. Not the greatest AC, and I would imagine it is cold in the winter. However, the area was clean, and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The owner is there checking on you, and stopping to chat. I liked that! Will we go back? You bet! And we will take someone with us next time. Good value for your money! Yay!

After seeing the line at Pecan Lodge during lunch time on Saturday, we decided to move on and looked for another bbq spot. We stumbled across Off the Bone, and we were so glad we did. Upon entering you're immediately hit with that wonderful smoked meat aroma. And between all the pictures of celebs that has been there and our stomachs telling us to follow the scent, we knew we were in for a treat. As we got to the counter to look over the menu board, one of the cooks asked if we wanted a taste of their ribs. YES PLEASE!! He then proceeded to hand each of us a rib to try....Amazing!! To their name sake, it was fall off the bone tender, expertly smoked and flavorful. Three of us decided to order a family meal that included 4 meats - ribs, brisket, chicken and sausage, 2 sides - potato salad and baked beans. When the food came out, it looked as if it could have easily fed 5 people, great portions for the price. The brisket had a nice smoke ring around it, tender and seasoned pretty well. Sausage was wonderful, nice little kick to it. The chicken however fell a bit short, as it was a little dry and wasn't as flavorful as everything else. The house made BBQ sauce had a good bite to it, nice tanginess, not too sweet, and just a little heat from the black pepper. The baked beans were spot on, cooked well, nice heat and just enough sweetness to match up to the BBQ sauce. The potato salad is a can't miss item here. Sometimes the mustard can be too overpowering in potato salads, but here, they got it just right. Great side to complement the smoked meats. Overall, fantastic experience, awesome food, great value and friendly staff. Will definitely be back next time we're in Dallas.

Thanks to my fellow Yelpers for turning me on to this place!!! MAN that was GOOD! I did the lunch special: 2 meats + 2 sides for $12.95. I had the ribs and the chicken. Trust me folks, just do the ribs! Oh MAN! I'm not saying the chicken wasn't good. It was. But those RIBS!!! They don't need any sauce at all. Well, the chicken doesn't either . . . For sides I had the slaw and the beans. Surprise! The slaw is made with blue cheese! I'm not a huge fan, but I did eat it all. It was so fresh. I will be back! There wasn't a big crowd and it only took a few moments for them to prepare my plate. Being one of the five days out of the years that you can enjoy being outside in Dallas, I sat outside. It was all fanastic!

I took a little excursion out from downtown Dallas on the tram to find this barbecue joint but I can say that it was worth the time and effort. It's a tiny, unassuming restaurant with big flavor. The menu offers a variety of sandwiches or meats, all perfectly barbecued with just the right amount of kick. Several sides to choose from as well, each one also a little spicy. If you're downtown and have a little extra time to take tram over for a cheap but tasty lunch or dinner, it'd say go for it.

Delicious BBQ, especially the ribs and dry rubbed brisket. VERY tender, and the sauce is tasty. There is an all you can eat Thursday baby back ribs from 6pm to 9pm for $29.99. There is NO ambiance, though--you really have to be about the ribs and the sauces. There is no waiter-service-and-table kind of relationship-- you order at the stand up counter, and then they bring it to your 'picnic table' type of seating in foam and paper plates. If you're not about the place, and are doing take out or just don't care and all about the rich flavor and tenderness of a time tested family sauce recipe, and the outstanding beans and unique cole slaw, this is then a five star deal. If you just want all-you-can-eat Texas monster ribs for $9.99, (quantity and the tourist Texas ambiance) then you go to Risky's in Fort Worth.

A friend took me here, said they were the best BBQ, and I have to agree. I asked for the Smocked Pecan Babyback Ribs with the Southern Potato Salad and they were amazing, even though I ordered 1/2 rack I ended up so full I couldn't had dessert. I have to go back and try other stuff but I'm sure I won't be disappointed with anything there.

I visited this little spot with my husband (then-fiance) and my parents, when they came out to visit me when I first moved here last year. It is a little hole in the wall dive, but very clean! They even give you a rib as a sample to taste while you're waiting to order (which isn't a very long wait AT ALL), and it's delicious, which of course makes you want to order a LOT :) After we all ordered our meals (ribs, potato salad, coleslaw!), we found a spot to sit, and it didn't take long for the food to come out. As we were enjoying our meals, the owner came out and asked how our food was, and talked with us a bit about the business & how long they'd been there, etc. It was REALLY tasty food, not a single thing was done wrong. I would definitely bring people here -- but I am still working my way through all the BBQ spots in the DFW metro... so far though, they're on the "visit again" list!

  • James D.

The ordering line is somewhat crowded and so was the dining room with not many places to sit. I have absolutely no problem with the food it was excellent and tasted great the ribs were awesome but the fries could use more seasoning. One thing I didn't like was how smokey the dining room was the entire time I was there !

I don't think that there is a best BBQ, only because there are different styles and I'm willing to embrace them all. If you are looking for meat that is not overcooked with bbq sauce and good solid sides, belly up to the bar at Off The Bone on south Lamar. The food was good, the place was clean and the service ok. But none of that is what I'm looking for when I am eating bbq! I don't smell the smoke as I'm walking in and certainly don't smell it inside. Not a good sign. I can pop baby back ribs in the over and put sauce on them. What I can't do in my apartment is smoke those ribs and create bbq. If you are hungry and only wanting good food and are driving by Off The Bone, stop on by, but if you want good Texas bbq keep looking.

Tucked away in a not-so-delightful part of Dallas is an utterly delightful, family-run BBQ spot. The fact that I chose this place as my last "official meal" in Dallas before moving was no mistake: I just had a feeling this place would be good, and boy was I right. You just know a restaurant is pretty fantastic when you walk away thinking more about the people who run it than the food itself. And, the food was bombass. Off the Bone is known for tender, delicious, flavorful, pecan-smoked pork ribs. Stick with that and the crispy-skinned sausage and you will not be disappointed. Their sides have a nice unique twist though. The coleslaw is made with bell peppers, cabbage, bleu cheese, and chunks of bacon on top. Not for the average coleslaw lover, but I really enjoyed it. Kind of a twist on those classic wedge salads you get at old-school steak houses. The beans were spicy and sweet, and the potato salad was pretty much average. There's no place to sit inside, so brave the Texas heat and cower under the shade at the teeny tiny porch out front. This place brings a lot of dudes during lunch hour, and I bet their fair share of cops, too. And, I'll just say the Harvey family who runs the place are as sweet as their tea. They were happy to show us their pit and their pecan logs for smoking meat when I told them I'd heard their praises through Yelp. They even asked to be my Facebook friend! (Made me feel all special inside.) I can't wait to bring my pops here for some Southern hospitality and damn good smoked meat.

The food was great! The service and staff was even better! Upon arrival, we asked what was "good" there. The guy behind the counter then asked, "you've never been here before?" To which I responded, "no". He then began to cut up a few samples of his best dishes and handed them out to me and my group! It was fantastic. Great food. Great service.

This is a solid 3.5, but I'll round up because of the awesome bleu cheese coleslaw, but then I have to round it back down because of the price. I decided to take one for the Yelp team today and trek out the 1.5 miles from my office to OTB in order to make a definitive statement on the best BBQ around downtown thread. If you like your 'cue sloppy, I think you'll like OTB more than I did. The food was good, but I have mad love for dry rub ribs and an unhealthy lust for the crackling, fatty crunch of a good crusty brisket. At OTB, much like the pants of an 80 year old man, it's all soft baby. The ribs were literally fall off the bone tender. They were short and meaty, but lacked the depth of flavor that I enjoy in a rib. I just had the wang, dang, sweet twang of their BBQ sauce. If you like your beef sliced, you're shit out of luck. It's all chopped here. Twangy again, but no better than what I make in my crock pot at the house. Again, this isn't BAD 'cue, it just doesn't give me a Barbecue Boner (TM). My two meat combo (which is the name of my two-man band, btw) came with two sides (bleu cheese coleslaw & honey bbq beans). My tab (with a can of Pepsi--big ups, Nadeem) was over $15. That's no bueno.

Um, wow. I was slightly afraid of taking a group of friends to dinner at an unknown and untested restaurant on South Lamar, but as usual, trusting all you Yelpers didn't let me down. This place is fantastic. First of all, they could tell we were first-timers, and the next thing we knew, they were sliding samples of their ribs across the counter. Oh my. They were divine. Meat fell right off the bone, and the sauce is fantastic. I ended up sticking with my traditional BBQ order (chopped beef sandwich), but those ribs...mmm. Tempting. A friend of mine got his chopped beef sandwich order before mine came out, and for a moment I was terrified. "Um, did you order two sandwiches?" Nope. Order one, get two. Oh dear. Sure, the buns are small, but together, they're definitely bigger than your average BBQ sandwich. Wow. Lovin' it. I wish the entrees came with sides, but our group bought a few pints to share, and that worked out nicely. The potato salad is yummy, but pretty standard. The beans are delicious and less standard. There's definitely a signature flavor there. The cole slaw...talk about signature! It's got bell peppers and blue cheese. Whaaaat? Honestly, I wasn't a huge fan (I like my cole slaw boring and traditional), but one of my friends called it "the best cole slaw I've ever had." So there are two opinions, and you can taste it and decide for yourself. We ate on the patio (the only dine-in option -- so either go when the weather's good, or get takeout). Yeah, it's not the most scenic patio in Dallas (hello pipes and warehouses), but it's not bad, and with the addition of 4 policemen who drove up to grab some dinner, I felt pretty darn safe. Plus, all the employees who work here are super friendly (did I mention the free samples?), and the LCD screens for the menu make it very non-sketchy. Probably not a place I'd tell my mom to check out with her girlfriends, but a place my dad would love for lunch and my friends DID love for dinner. You get the picture? OH, and they're open until 2 am on Fridays and Saturdays. Helloooo late-night drunk munchies.

Decent location (especially if you're leaving Brooklyn's, it's across the street), they stay open pretty late and the cute guy was flirting with my bestfriend and me, so what more could we ask for right?...better prices and side items! For the price I paid, I could've had almost three platters at Dave's BarBQ (Gannon). Platter 1: Ribs and 1/4 Chicken (white) with baked beans and potatoe salad. Platter 2:Ribs and Sausage links with pasta salad and baked beans. Pro: The ribs were falling off the bone and were very good! The homemade lemon pound cake was delicious too and soooo flavorful! Cons: The prices would be ok if the side items were more tasty. Considering this place prides themselves on serving "gourmet" barbq, i'm surprised that the potatoe salad and pasta salad at Walmart (Plano-on Park & Dallas Pkwy) is wayyyyyy better in taste and quality! Overall, it's a decent place to go, especially if you're seeking bbq late at night

Cant say it's the best BBQ I've had, but it's not the worst... Clean place, friendly staff.... The BBQ sauce was not of my like, so I guess that is was threw everything else off.... Here on business from Miami and leaving very disappointed.....

This is probably the best BBQ in Dallas I have had. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich, spicy fries, peach cobbler, ribs plate and it was pretty much all perfect. I highly recommend this place to anyone who expects quality BBQ.

I found Off the Bone on Yelp during a recent trip to Dallas. We rolled in for dinner at around 6:00 to an empty parking lot and empty restaurant. Bad sign. As soon as we got out of the car we could smell the wood smoke pouring from the wood fired pit and could see the stack of wood outside. Good sign. Although it was empty when we got there, it quickly filled up and there were plenty of people passing through to get take out. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the staff who were all very friendly and willing to describe everything they offered. The food came out quick and was delivered to our table with a smile. An overall fantastic service experience. We took a little while to look over the menu and make our decisions. We got the following: Loaded baked potato with smoked chicken, rack of pork ribs, beans, coleslaw, potato salad. Loaded Potato: A huge baked potato with all the usual toppings. Smoked chicken was tender and delicious. Large enough for two. Pork Ribs: Perfectly smoked, falling off the bone (duh), with just enough sauce on top for a nice sweet flavor. Delicious. Baked Beans with Bacon: Simple classic, can't really lose on this one. They did them well. Potato Salad: Good potato salad, but compared to the other things we got it was nothing special. Probably the only thing we got that I would pass on next time. Coleslaw: Not your typical recipe, this version includes bleu cheese and bacon. If you enjoy bleu cheese, this will be amazing for you as it was for us! Fair warning, not for bleu cheese haters. If I return to the Dallas area I will be returning here for sure!

As a Southern California native, I know our options for solid BBQ are limited in the Golden State. So on a recent visit to Dallas, I went in search of a great BBQ place that would show me how it's done. Found it! The place is tucked away in an industrial-looking area of the city, but once on Lamar it's hard to miss. I was greeted by an exceptionally friendly staff and felt like I was already a regular! We got the 2 meat combo - the shredded brisket and chicken, and both were superb. The brisket is also excellent when put on top of these small slices of wheat bread they serve the food with. Easily my best meal of the weekend.

At the risk of sounding like a total food snob, I would venture to say the BBQ scene in Dallas straight up sucks. If you are honest with yourself, you will realize it's true. Well folks, let it be known that Off the Bone is changing things up a bit. IT IS ACTUALLY GOOD BBQ!!! Probably the best in Dallas.

Off the bone is no joke, they really mean it. Amazing ribs, they fell right off the bone. The brisket was excellent. My husband and I shared a combo plate and after taking just one bite each of hte brisket and rib our eyes lit up and we ran up and ordered a 2nd plate. The blue cheese cole slaw was really good too, a nice variation on the old standby. The french fries were crispy adn delicious. This place was recommended to us by a local since we were in town for the weekend and looking for some good BBQ. It certainly did not disappoint.

Best barbecue I've ever had! I usually hate baked beans, but their version was amazing! The cole slaw was also delish. I was so glad to have found this place close to our hotel (the Omni). I've recommended it to everyone I know going to Dallas.

Good experience today on the patio at Sonny's! We had the 3/4lb. plate with ribs and brisket. The ribs were very good with a low fat quality meat. The brisket was a bit dry, but cooked well with a nice smoke ring. Our waitress was great and the regular size beers are HUGE :)

Wow!! What a surprise. Stopped here for lunch today. There's a ton of BBQ in Texas and rarely does a place surprise you. But this is truly "fall off the bone" BBQ. As we walked through the door a lady greeted us with a rib each to sample. Oh My Goodness! Now the next thing to do is decide which meat to get for lunch. It was hard not to get ribs. But since just had a rib, I tried the chopped beef sandwich and potato salad. This was actually two slider sized buns with a ton of beef piled on top and around them. After eating, I think it was about the size of one and half normal sandwiches. Two of my friends had the half chicken, which was huge. And one other had a Sausage sandwich...again...served like the chopped beef on two slider styled buns with meat falling all over the plate. Everyone agreed it was some of the best BBQ any of us have had. I will be back!!! Soon!!

I thought it was extremely odd that this joint got voted #1 in Dallas a little after the "Off The Bone" in Fort Worth got voted #1 in a different competition. Coincidence? I just think these BBQ fanatics love places called "Off The Bone." Minus 3/4 star for being overrated. :) I am being more discerning nowadays. From what I have seen, I now believe there is a "citified" culture of BBQ. You can NEVER order by the pound in the city, and that really angers me. I don't want a full 3/4 lb. of brisket; it is not like Dallas boasts the same quality smoked cattle as the deep-rooted BBQ trail in central Texas. I would rather try a little of everything you have to offer. That being said, I spent $14 just to get 2 sliders and 3 ribs. They couldn't give me quarter pounds, so I was compelled to order up the 2 slider plate at $6.60. For that price, you get a scoop of meat in wheat rolls. The meat was not half bad.... except that it was smothered in sauce. At least warn us true Texans!! I don't always want Kansas-style, for crying out loud! The brisket was not super smoky, but it was tender. The pulled pork held on to its meatiness. The ribs were meaty, but tender, and they had a nice bit of both crust and give. These two need to balance for optimally tasty 'cue. The sauce? A little on the tangy side, but good overall. I suppose I could recommend this to individuals going on a BBQ hunt in the big D. So, how did I think this Dallas institution compare to other smoked meat joints? Certainly, better... but it was just.... SAUCE!!!! SAUCE, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! Pricing is a bit steep, and the location is a bit out in the middle of nowhere. If I am driving out of my way, I would prefer a bit more "scenery" than warehouse buildings, but when in the heart of old Dallas...

Wanted to bring home my hubby some deeeeelicious brisket from my trip to Texas. I experienced brisket heaven at the Pecan Lodge and would have gladly returned, but alas they are closed on Mondays. So, I went here and it was not on anywhere near the same level. Who chops brisket??!?!!?!?!?! Not awful, but definitely not a fan.

After taking a year long hiatus from writing reviews, I feel inclined to do so after visiting this place. While visiting Dallas, Off the Bone BBQ was our first stop after getting off the plane. We went on a Thursday night (thinking it was Friday, my bad) and they were already closed. I was so determined to try this place that I forced the BF to go back on Saturday around midnight. The owners were very friendly (guess that's what you call southern hospitality) and gave us each a rib to try before ordering. The BF and I shared their 2 item combo with ribs, brisket, baked beans and potato salad. This was hands down the best meal I had while in Dallas. I can't believe there wasn't a line out the door. Their name says it all - the meat gently fell "off the bone".

This place is right by the police station and as a casual tourist would never come out this way but somethings are worth the drive. The ribs were good, can I just get the ribs, eat them, take a nap and deal with life later? I had the chopped brisket and ribs combo plate with potato salad and pasta salad. The chopped brisket was a bit dry for me and relied too much on the sauce for moisture and flavor. The ribs were money, what else can I say besides if you come here get the ribs. The pasta side was something different than other BBQ joints but nothing jumped out being special about it, and the potato salad was forgettable. This place is small, they have a couple of picnic-style tables outside and thats it. No beer or anything extra here. Just do the ribs.

12/2014 - I went down there on a Saturday night, drove from Plano just to eat here and THEY WERE CLOSED AT 11PM. BOOOOOO! You say you're open until midnight on Saturday night and you SHOULD HONOR YOUR HOURS. You just lost a star. This place is lip-smacking good! The meat falls off the bone as the name indicates. The coleslaw is made with blue cheese instead of mayo and it's awesome. The beans are also very good. This is one of the best bbq places in Dallas. Great sauce and excellent service.

Wow, I think this may be the best BBQ I have ever had! My bf and I shared the meat sampler platter with 2 sides - tri pasta and beans. Everything was melt in your mouth and the flavor was unique and delicious, just the right amount of spice. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Everything was clean and neat. If I lived in the Dallas area, this would definitely be a place I would go often.

Their ribs and chicken are outstanding! The best I had in Texas in four years (even better than in Lockhart). They still need to work on the brisket, which is a bit dry.

Your teeth can take a break here (and you can put that floss away too). The meat on the ribs here literally falls Off The Bone. Way to represent the restaurant name. Ribs can be prepared in multiple way - all of which you must appreciate. If you like your ribs tender and slathered in tangy / slightly spicy bbq sauce, then OTB is definitely the place for you. If you like your ribs more smoky with a crusty pepper layer on top, I'd recommend the Baby Back Shak a few blocks over. The baked beans are delish and the coleslaw prepared with blue cheese is worth a try. Four stars for the food, an extra star for the genuinely friendly and fun-loving service. You guys were awesome!

Absolutely FANTASTIC! You have NEVER had ribs this tender before! When we arrived the woman at the counter gave us each a free sample rib! If they have pulled pork, get it!

What great barbeque! Great flavors. Decent selection. I was just visiting Dallas and found this place on Yelp. Wish it were in my neighborhood. This place is a reason to visit Dallas. If you love barbeque don't miss it. Yummm.

Brisket was tender, sausage was juicy, potato salad was good! The only downfall is my daughter wanted white bread, they only had wheat. Good for me anyway. Hole in the wall downtown dallas. Smelled amazing when walking inside

I had high hopes for this place based on my fellow Yelpers reviews, however, in my opinion it is "just another Q joint" with barely decent BBQ. I ordered a half rack of ribs, a 4 oz. baked bean side dish and a glass of tea that totaled $ 17.48 for a lunch that left much to be desired ! A little "pricey" for "meh" BBQ ! The ribs were very fatty with little actual meat on them, and despite the name of the establishment, they were not exactly "fall off the bone" tender. I know, I know, they got a good write-up in "D" Magazine, etc. but.....SORRY, I really can't reccomend spending good money for less than average BBQ ! The "baked beans" did have above average flavor with the meat they add to them, but they overpower that "perk" with an excess of spices that kept me reaching for my tea glass. No plans to return to this establishment because there are far too many better places to eat better BBQ !

Had the pleasure of eating here over the weekend, and when I thought Dallas was doomed with no good BBQ, Off the Bone put my nerves to rest. Had the 2 meat plate with Ribs and Brisket which were both excellent, and had the Cole Slaw, Beans, and tator salad...all were good, but the Slaw was the Star. It is a Fur Piece of a drive from up North, but will definitely be back.

The once all outdoor seating venue has now enclosed a portion of the outdoor seating, so they now have year round climate controlled eating! I enjoy their food. I work right by their establishment, but I am always drawn away by the Baby Back Shack a mile away. They are really 3 and 1/2 stars for me....a little better than average. All of the meats are tender, and they have good BBQ sauce. I appreciate their friendly customer service. While I say they are solid, I am not at 5 stars as others.

Ordered the ribs, beef brisket, cole slaw, and baked beans. They were fantastic! You'll never find slaw like this. It's made with blue cheese and topped with a sprinkle of bacon bits. The baked beans were similarly "gourmet" with some onions and bacon mixed it. If this place was called Cole Slaw and Beans, it would be the best in the world. Oh yeah, I had some BBQ too. The ribs were literally falling off the bone. Juicy, lean, and full of flavor. The lean part was special because a lot of places use spare ribs to make 'em juicier and sloppier, but those are also fattier with less pork flavor. This place is awesome! The beef brisket, which was pulled into loose pieces instead of cut into slices, was equally great! One last thing, the service was friendly and fast. These guys are hard to beat. I hear they're relatively new here in Dallas. So definitely give 'em a try in you're into BBQ.

I guess people should come here when it opens, when food is made fresh. Came here when I saw a food blog. We went here around 9pm, and there was no other customers. The beef brisket is okay. I've had better. Tom and Bingo's in Lubbock, TX is still the best for me. I was expecting more from it because it's Dallas, and because of the great Yelp reviews. The people in the store are nice though.

Wow. Colleague and I LOVED this place. The food was amazing, the handsome staff was wonderful and fun to converse with and the atmosphere was great. Restaurant has seating for probably around 20 people with a couple tables outside. Most patrons were taking their food to go. Try the ribs and beans. You will not go wrong. Yum. Thanks guys!

YESssss! I cleared another place off my yelp bookmark! What a great accomplishment! :) I took the yelpers' recommendations and ordered the brisket, ribs, beans and potatoes. My palates agreed with everything on my plate and made me a BBQ convert. I have been living here for about 2 years but I've never really had the urge to try BBQ simply because I have not been impressed by many places and I am not a huge chunk of meat kinda person. The hubs and I shared the 2 meat 2 sides plate and it was just nice for us! We asked for some extra bread and they happily gave it to us. Mmmm off the bone literally lives up to their name! C' ya soon!

Visited Dallas for my 1st time and of corse you have to try Texas BBQ! Off the Bone was my favorite! The service was over the top, very very respectful nice people! The BBQ ribs were to die for and you think sausage is just sausage but I was loving theirs! So full but couldn't stop eating! And you have to try their peach cobbler pie! Yumm!!

Off the Bone provided a fantastic experience to me and my wife. We stopped by the little diner after a flight in from LAX. There aren't really any other restaurants in the area - it seems to be more of a warehouse nightlife strip. I love pulled pork sandwiches and was ready to order one when the man working the counter gave us a free sample of one of the ribs. They were melt-in-your-mouth delicious. My wife and I went back before leaving a few days later just to ensure we had as many ribs as possible. Cons: the sides were somewhat bland and I did not like the pulled pork sandwich. Pros: these were the best ribs we have ever had. The second time we ordered them without the sauce and they were infinitely better.

Loved it! It was really good and the service was quick although, we were the only ones there. The only thing that sucked was that we went in kind of late and didn't get the sandwich that we wanted because they had run out but we ordered the full rack of ribs and it was good. It was more than enough. I also really liked the baked beans and even more the coleslaw. Now, I am not a coleslaw fan- in fact, I am even so grossed out by it that I asked the girl behind the counter how they make it. My only complain about every single place I've ever been is that the coleslaw taste like pure mayonnaise. I always think that they put way too much, but at Off the Bone Barbeque I loved it. The girl told me that she makes it fresh every day and it is made with blue cheese. It was really good, it had a totally different flavor and I ate most of it. It was good and totally different- I'd definitely go back.

Holly crap this BBQ is good! I really loved it all, the chicken, the brisket, the ribs, cole slaw (with bacon!), the baked beans and the potato salad. The people who work there are very friendly, and it feels like a family invited you in to eat some Q they've been working on all day. I know where I'm going when I go back to Dallas.

Wow!!! Great BBQ!! Some truly amazing baby back ribs, but everything I had was great. The brisket, sausage, honey spiced baked beans and some of the best potato salad around. Oh and the pound cake was ridiculously good. It's also got a great owner and staff. Go here you can't go wrong

After a somewhat disappointing experience at Off the Bone in Fort Worth it took me a while to try Off the Bone in Dallas. But make no mistake folks, even though these two establishments share the same name, they are NOT AT ALL related. And in case you're ever taken to one of these places tied up in the back of a trunk, you'll know if you're at the Dallas location because the ribs actually fall off the bone. I'm not sure where our Off the Bone brethren call home, but their BBQ roots seem to trace back to Kansas City rather than somewhere in the Lone Star State, which is mighty fine by me. What this means is that the meat is tender and moist with a faint hint of smoke and the sauce is thick, spicy and good enough to drink. It also means that they've actually paid attention to the sides (which are often overlooked in Texas BBQ) so make sure you hook up some baked beans and blue cheese coleslaw when you go. If that last paragraph didn't sell you, just smile real purdy like at owner Dwight Harvey and ask for a sample of their ribs (I've NEVER seen this done at any BBQ joint before, but it was a welcome surprise). You don't even need teeth to get the meat off these babies. Just hold the bone over your open mouth and let gravity do its thing. The only downside to Off the Bone has nothing to do with the food, but rather the fact that there's no indoor seating, which makes it a tough place to go during the summer. Also, the area is pretty ghetto. Even though I could see my car from where we ate I was still worried that I'd be missing a stereo when I returned. I'm excited to say that Dallas finally has a 5 star BBQ experience. Forget Sonny Bryan's, Mike Anderson's or Peggy Sue's, Off the Bone has come to save the day.

Me and a sorority sister, visiting from D.C., ate here by recommendation from her sister that use to live in Dallas. I think the ribs were amazing and the beef sausage. I like the wheat bread slices but would have preferred a potato roll of sort opposed to the other rolls. I also loved the pickles! We got the platter for two and it was way too much food. We could have fed three as we also got the pork tacos just to try them. Either this restaurant has won the hoodie awards or something because a photo of Steve Harvey was on the wall. Small "mom and pop" shop and we originally judged the book by its cover, but it turned out to be some good grub as we took a break from shopping. Glad we came! Will recommend it!

Waaa! Where did I go wrong?? I was really wanting to like this place but it was just not very good. There were four of us on this dining occassion and unfortunately the verdict was the same for all. The ribs were OK...they did fall off the bone so I'll give them that. The only flavor on the ribs came from the sauce which I think is a vinegar-base and thinner than I like. The whole chicken and the pulled pork sandwiches were super dry, like made us choke, and didn't have much flavor. I had to load them with pickles and extra sauce to get them down. I did like that the "sandwich" is served as two sliders. Positives: Sides were pretty good- potato salad and cole slaw. Oh, and they only serve sweet tea...as any respectable BBQ joint should. Definitely necessary to get down the protein. Very friendly and quick service. I'll give them another shot and update my review if they deserve it. I'm hoping they do.

Certainly on the upper end of Dallas BBQ! Why I gave it 5 stars? They gave me a free beer for wearing a Texas Rangers hat (during ACLS finals) Gave our group free servings of sides to take home Immediately once we finished our food they were out to take our plates away, pre-busing is one of the best ways to keep me happy at the table. Not your typical Texas BBQ, a fusion of east coast, Tennessee, and Texas BBQ. Great food that makes any persons pocket happy!

Finally ventured here last night...I had the 2 meat platter with white meat chicken and brisket...I tried the blue cheese cole slaw and potato salad sides. (It's worth noting that I don't eat pork.) The Mr. had the 2 meat platter with ribs and sausage and had baked beans and pasta salad sides. The chicken was REALLY good. Very juicy. Loved the sauce. The chopped brisket was good but I probably wouldn't order it again. I like it sliced better. The Mr. enjoyed the ribs and sausage. He said the ribs were "Damn good". Now on to the sides...I stayed away from the baked beans (since they had bacon cooked in them)...he really liked them. The pasta salad was really good. Potato salad was good although I'm not a fan of boiled eggs in my potato salad. The stand out was the blue cheese cole slaw. It's really...unique. In a good way. I wish I had known they sprinkle bacon on top or I'd have requested it without. I got a slice of the lemon pound cake for dessert. For him, of course. It was very moist...delicious. Oh wait. I said it was for him. Well, it was so delicious he insisted that I have a bite! We'll be back. It's kind of pricey ($12.50 for the 2 meat platter with 2 sides) but I'd rather pay that and get good food than pay three quarters of that and get sub par food. I was ready to write off Texas barbecue until I tried this place. WAY better than Dickey's, Sammy's, Red Hot & Blue AND EVEN Sonny Bryan's. Now if I could JUST get them to serve beef ribs like Pappas Bros. (and MAYBE homemade mac & cheese) they'll be my favorite barbecue place in Texas!

Yummy! Pulled pork sandwich was awesome! Loved the BBQ sauce. Meat was flavorful. Baby back ribs were meaty and tender. Honey beans were delicious. Don't miss out on the sweet tea. So refreshing! Wish I could take this place back to Cali with me!

I was looking for amazing ribs and I wanted to have some good bbq with a friend from out of town. I had read articles about Dallas not having good bbq, especially near the city proper. This place is amazing. Great ribs. Great. Good sides. Love the family run vibe.

Off the boner was voted best BBQ on the D list. I thought the sides were delicious but the BBQ was just ok. The ribs def fall off the boner. The brisket was on the dry side. I was overall disappointed with Dallas BBQ in general.

May be the very best BBQ I've had in Dallas. The Ribs and pulled pork were unbelievable. The coleslaw was great too. Only disappointment was the potato salad. Really a gem of a place. but with a tiny dining room. I will be back!

Ok, so I've been to this little BBQ shack two times. Both on the weekend, both late at night (open until 2:00-2:30 on friday and saturday!). The experience was pretty much identically awesome both times so the high score is warranted. Firstly, this place is very convenient if you're homeless or addicted to hard drugs because it's not a far drive from where you live/score. If you're anyone else, you'll feel pretty threatened as you make the trek down to get your meat on. Don't worry, be brave, it's gonna be worth it. Both times we went there, we were accosted by a pseudo-prostitute accompanied by her pseudo-pimp. These broads weren't employees of off the bone, but they definitely provide a similar "warm welcome" that you could find at any classy joint. The only difference is the very uncomfortable sexual overtones of your conversation. Not to worry, the bros who work behind the counter are fast, so you won't have to wait and talk to whores for very long. The menus is pretty small, but they have good prices and you can get several different portion sizes depending on your level of hunger. I would strongly recommend the ribs. they are extremely tender and juicy and they have a ton of bark. The BBQ sauce is very sweet the way we like it in Texas and it sticks to the smoked meat for delicious smokey, sweet, morsels of pig. The beans are the best side item in my opinion, but all of them are good. But to be honest, you don't really even need sides, just eat a meat meal. They only have dining outside so it's probably a good idea to keep a 6-pack in the car to (a) hang out, (b) keep your buzz going, and (c) wash down your food. The hours are pretty weird so make sure you check before you go down there (they're closed on monday and only open for dinner on thurs-fri-sat). This is a great little BBQ stand to satisfy your ravenous hunger from a night of heavy drinking or to show out of towners what Texas BBQ is all about. I give it a strong 4.5 stars.

We were visiting Dallas and had to compare namesake Dallas BBQ to the unfortunately craptastic chain in New York. Both my boyfriend and I are veterans of Texas BBQ, having lived in Austin (and in his case, having grown up in Houston). We tried to go here at 8:30pm on Thursday, not realizing that they don't open that late during the week. Check the hours before you go! We also didn't realize the sketchy reputation of this place that other reviewers talked about; I guess the area looked pretty normal (if isolated) to the New Yorker in me. 5 stars for the awesome people that work there. They are incredibly nice and even gave us free rib tastings so we could try out the food. We spent some time talking to the owner's nephew while he piled our plate high with BBQ. 4 stars for the BBQ. We got the 2 meat, 2 side lunch special for under $12. The ribs are delicious, but the brisket is not as moist as I would've hoped. Like Tom Y. says, it relies on the sauce to make it extra delicious. And while I'm not a fan of blue cheese, the blue cheese in the cole slaw gives it an extra nice zing. And the honey baked beans definitely have honey in them... they're sweeter than most baked beans I've had in the past, but not so sweet to make them venture into candy land. There is no indoor seating, only outdoor tables and chairs that are under a covered area outside. I'd definitely go back next time I'm in Dallas! None of my Dallas friends had even heard of this place, but after my meal here, they all want to try it out... and you should too!

The food was scrumptious. The beef was so moist and tender. The ribs literally fall off the bone. The fries have the best salty spice and the peach cobbler reminds me of my grandma's. Delicious!

Good stuff! Came here for lunch yesterday and walked into what looks like a converted gas station. No seating indoors and basically just a counter. The friendly staff asked us if we'd been here which we said no. We asked them what we should have and the cook/owner said "hold on" and came back with a rib each. and said "Try that and then you tell me what you wanna order." How cool is that??? The rib literally fell off the bone so we both ordered the 2 meat 2 veggie plate. I have the smoked chicken which gave the ribs a run for the money along with pot salad and beans which were both good but nothing spectacular. I think this place would have 5 instead of 4.5 stars if they got indoor seating and also served stuffed baked potatoes but regardless, I am definitely coming back!

Ask and you shall receive. They now have baked potatoes. I got a big, gooey, cheesy, buttery baked pot. today topped with their chopped chicken, chives, butter and bacon (big pieces) and a drink for $7.50. I could only stuff half of it down my face before I felt like I was about to burst. Round two for leftovers tomorrow. Now I know where to go when I get a baked pot. craving! And I also want to give a shout out to everyone that works there. Everyone is so nice and friendly.

I didn't even know this place existed and I work 3 blocks away. I was walking to Chicken N Things for a 3-star lunch when I fired up the new Yelp 4.0 on my iPhone. It showed me there was a 4.5 star barbecue place just ahead. I was practically on top of it before realizing this nondescript white structure was a restaurant. There is no inside seating only a handful of outdoor tables and chairs. I ordered the lunch special rib plate without really reading the reviews here. The potato salad and baked beans were both quite good. I think it was about the best mustard potato salad I've had around here. The ribs looked to have been dry rubbed, but were served with a tangy sauce poured over them. I thought they were good, but they weren't the best in DFW, in my opinion. Just a few blocks east, the Baby Back Shak serves much more flavorful ribs. I'll definitely visit again, especially since it is so close to my office. The prices are about what I expected, service was fast and the staff were friendly.

Hands down one of my favorite barbecue joints in Dallas. Immediately upon walking through the door, I was offered free samples and when I couldn't decide which sides to order, was offered a free side too. The staff makes you feel like you're at home with some good ol' Southern hospitality and the food is pretty tasty too. I took my out-of-town guests here and they fell in love too!

This place was simply incredible. They have such a friendly staff and just like the name says, my ribs fell from the bone effortlessly. I felt like I only needed to breath on them and the bones came clean away. The meat was tender and flavorful. I was definitely not disappointed and I am looking forward to coming back when I am in the area. Ugh!!! I wish I was there now!!!

This was the highest-rated barbecue place near downtown so I had to check it out to see what Texas barbecue was all about. Overall, I was pretty impressed with Off the Bone. I got the beef brisket and it was delicious, very good sauce with a strong vinegar flavor too. The beans were also excellent, just the right amount of spice and plenty of extras like little bits of pork. I've had better and it wasn't mind blowing but I am very glad I went. The pricing was pretty reasonable too, I think it was about $7.50 for a half-pound of brisket.

Stopped in for dinner before a concert down the street at the suggestion of my companion for the evening. I had a 1 meat plate and if you're only eating one meat at a place called "Off the Bone"...well, what meat are you going to get?? Ribs of course! I had potato salad and the tri color pasta salad with it. Everything was very good. I can't say it was the very best barbeque I've ever had, but it was damn good and if I'm back in the area again I will definitely plan to eat there again.

A hidden gem in the downtown Dallas area. The food was fast, outstanding, and it was a special treat to see the owner still making sure everything was up to his standards. He was even busing tables and thanked up for coming. Besides that...off the bone...it sure is, so tender and juicy, not to mention that smoked sausage sandwich. It appears they just added spicy fried corn on cob, it's a can't miss, but don't wait for the state fair, it will be a hot ticket, get it now, I'm sure it's something that would sell out fast.

Went there on Saturday to a packed house. I was able to order and get my food in a timely manner. I got the rib order with honey spiced beans. the beans were really good and the ribs were nice and tender. Of course they fell off the bone :) Wouldn't say this is my favorite BBQ place but its worth checking out. Next time i will try the pork sausage and tri-color pasta

It is weird, my favorite food is probably BBQ and I'm going to hate it when we leave Texas because I don't think we'll find as good BBQ as I've had here. I always say if I was ever convicted and given the chair my last meal would be bbq, probably a three way plate featuring sausage, BBQ beans and mashed potatoes; the problem is my girlfriend hates BBQ, despises it in fact. I can't take her to Dr. Bell's or Dickeys or Sonny Brians because she always ruins my BBQ experience. But guess what, SHE ABSOLUTELY FUCKING LOVES OFF THE BONE. This is to me the best BBQ in the area, much of the Dallas BBQ tastes the same, this has different spices or flavors to it. The most original I've tasted here. The place is so pretty, Its like an old gas station or car shop they fixed, love everything about the decoration. The only problem with this place is it gets very very crowded when you order in front of the counter. They need to give you numbers so you leave, put like some speakers outside so you hear your number. Specially at night, its not cool to be rubbing against drunk people. But other than that, if you're tired of the same BBQ chains in Dallas like Dickey's or Sonny Brian's go here.

So I saw all the reviews for this and saw it in the spotlight of the week so I definitely wanted to try. VERY much a reason why it is so wildly popular. The meats here are absolutely amazing. The ribs are pretty much the best. If you've never been the guy hooks you up with a rib to try. They literally are so meaty and tender that they fall OFF THE BONE. The various meats they have are the reason this place is insane. On the downside The place is small and only has outdoor seating. They only sell bottled drinks, no tap water, and have no public bathrooms. The sides are less than memorable (minus the bbq beans). Overall though, this place is definitely the GO TO place for BBQ in dallas. Yum :)

Went in for lunch and got the special meat combo, 1/4 lb brisket, 1/4 chicken, beef sausage, and 3 ribs. I was hoping to get pulled pork instead of beef sausage, but they didn't have any pork (how can you do that as a bbq joint?). After I got over my initial disappointment the food came, and everything was outstanding. The sauce was outstanding, the ribs- as the name implies- fell right off the bone, the chicken and brisket were top notch, and even the sausage was great. Love it.

I'v been many times, and love it. The location may not be the best, but it is right next to Dallas PD HQ..it has to be safe. South Dallas on Lamar, you can't miss it. The past reviews are correct, everyone says hello, and its like your a regular. BEST BBQ RIBS in DFW.. get the full rack, or half a rack with the made daily potato salad. They are closed on Mondays, and have just completed indoor patio for the hot summers, along with outside seating. Highly recommended, this past time I went, I stood behind patrons from New Zealand, apparently this place was on a " MUST EAT, AND SEE " list for tourist. They do make rib, beef, and chicken tacos.. its a steal for price.. 3 tacos for 5 bucks. They usually have a special for each day of the week.

Ok, I'm not a huge bar-bq fan, but more of a seafood lover so take this review with a grain of salt. Had heard alot about this joint thru various friends so I checked it out while hanging with friends during the NBA All-Star weekend. At that time I actually didn't eat anything, but took note of the customer service provided to my 3 buddies which I thought was excellent. On a seperate occasion my best friend was in town from Philly and since he recently started his own bar bq business he wanted to sample some of Texas' finest. See, this was his first trip here and after visiting North Carolina & Memphis, two known bar-bq cities, he wanted to do the same here in Texas. We entered OFB one late night & I immediately announced to the employees they had the best bar-bq in town and that my boy had come all the way from PA to sample it. Well, before I could finish my speech we were handed samples of ribs for our pleasure. Man, were they good!!!! Nice and tender with the meat slipping 'off the bone', just as the name suggests. To say the least my buddy was very very impressed. He even grabbed a few of there business cards which he thought were exactly like what he was visually thinking of doing...a picture of the ribs on one side with a copy of the menu on the other. We then got a couple of slabs to go, sped up 75 expressway back to Allen Tx in record time, and couldn't wait to eat the rest! This place is great! Keep on doin' whatcha doin' guys!!!!

My friends and I took a trip to Dallas and found this place on yelp and LOVED it. It was Amaaaaazing. The ribs fell off the bone and had the perfect amount of BBQ sauce and was soft and juicy! The sausages were sweet and tangy and soft and moist too! The briskest we're shredded and good too but by far the ribs sausages and pickles were legit! We were happy Asians by the end! Come here and see for yourself. The owner was so friendly and accomodating too. We will miss you! Btw they have sweet tea!

Awesome BBQ! The dry-rubbed Texas style is great, but coming from Kansas City and New Orleans, I love the "soul food" style BBQ even more. Please note that OTB sauces their meats and it's not a dry-rub. If you aren't familiar with the concept of moppin-sauce, then ask for 'sauce on side.' "OTB" is a unique place: there is no inside seating; no beer; and the guy who owns it - Dwight Harvey - rings up your order. It took me awhile to put my finger on the "atmosphere" but the place feels like you've been invited to a picnic. One of those big "Family Reunion" type picnics where everyone wears the same shirt with their family tree on the back. There is only outside dining on patio furniture and people have the coolers of BYOB beer. The clientelle was super-nice. I arrived solo and waited for my group. As I waited, a table of guys - a table of African American guys - asked me - a white dude - over and we shared beer and Q. Dallas is still very racially conscious, so such innocent hospitality is not very common but is needed. And as I've written before, I love places that have limited menus because it means they have faith in what they do. As such, OTB has four meats and four sides. If you want more, go somewhere else. I love it. We had the sausage, ribs and brisket. For sides we had honey BBQ beans, coleslaw with blue cheese, and potato salad. I will absolutely go back. And bring a cooler and sit there for an hour or so and let Dwight cook some BBQ for me.

Okay BBQ, but nothing special. Potato Salad was pretty good, beans were Bush's beans doctored up. Chopped Brisket was average. Ribs were overcooked. One of the guys in my party got burnt ribs, which were not very tasty. The sauce was too vinegary, to my taste. It was overpowering.

A huge shoutout from California to the fine folks at Off the Bone. Wanted some great Q while visiting Dallas, and they did not disappoint. Darling wife brought back a huge smokey, tender, juicy hunk of brisket, cooked perfectly with just the enough fat (left on upon request) to make it (including the bark) sinfully delicious. The sausage links were smoked perfectly too, with most of the fat cooked out and all the flavor left in and infused with smoke. The staff were great too, very friendly and helpful.

rounded up, but more of a 3.5 for me. above avg bbq. i prefer sliced brisket and they do not offer that here. so i ordered the chopped brisket. i like the flavor and the taste of the meat as well as the sauce. potato salad was decent.

Awesome ribs. We got half rack and chicken combos! Yummmmmmmm. The Rib meat falls off as u lift the rib up to your mouth! Chicken was moist and tasty as well. So delicious wish we had a place like off the bone BBQ in LA! Plus it's a family owned business- feet home style cooking and service. Will be back if we r in Dallas

Was alright. Ribs weren't fall off the bone, which wasn't too much to expect given the name of the place. Cole slaw was great, brisket was good. Will likely go back and try again but unfortunately didn't live up to the hype.

Best pork ribs in Dallas. Best BBQ in Dallas. "First time here? Have a sample if of our ribs."

Sorry, Off the Bone. I was just not a fan of your bbq. Here's the caveat. I don't eat pork, so i not have ribs, which everyone seemed to rave about. i had the chopped brisket and was not a fan. i found it to be dry. I prefer my brisket sliced rather than chopped. The cole slaw was a little bland as well. I did like the potato salad though. Probably won't be back. I prefer Rudy's. Or if I have a free weekend, the BBQ down in the Austin area (ie: Kreuz's Market) is amazing.

Some of the best BBQ in Dallas and definitely some of the nicest staff. We ordered a lot of food for a large group and the owner threw in some extra sausage and chicken. All of it was AMAZING. Definitely a must try.

Ok, so I have been in Dallas for the past 3 weekends, and my goal has been to find the best BBQ joint here....and.....Off the Bone is not it. Please don't get me wrong, it is pretty average/good, but definitely not anything to think twice about.

With the great weather today, it seemed the perfect opportunity to give Off the Bone a try. A buddy had mentioned seeing this on a Best of Dallas BBQ list type of thing and it had been on my mind since. I am glad I finally gave it a shot...it did not disappoint. It is a touch on the pricey side...I paid ~$17 with a tip for the lunch special...two meats and two sides ($12.75) plus a drink. And while that certainly isn't a cheap lunch, it was still a pretty good value for what you get. I got ribs and brisket with their beans and potato salad. When I say the portion was generous, I mean it...4 ribs and a pretty sizable portion of chopped brisket. I easily could have taken with me for later if only I could have stopped eating! The staff did a great job and the owner was around making sure everybody was happy with their food. That was very nice to see.. Now, the food. The ribs were very, very good...they were meaty, and the sauce is excellent. Although I lean a little bit toward dry ribs, I still give these sauced ones two thumbs up! The brisket was greatness, as well. I wish I had followed by buddy's lead and asked for extra sauce....while it was quite moist on its own, the sauce really makes it. On my way back to work I was thinking to myself how good that would be on a baked potato, and then I read here that they offer them...I didn't see them on the menu, but I didn't look too carefully after seeing the combo special. Now, on to the sides. The beans were very good...sweet with just the subtlest hint of spice. Maybe. Kinda. It was really very, very subtle. The potato salad was okay. Not bad at all. But not great. There are better places for that particular item. I am curious about the tri-color pasta...I heard a couple of people after me order a double portion of it so it must be worth trying. Maybe next time. Unless I get the baker. Hmmmmmmm..... All in all, I will be back. It is a pretty good haul from work, so it won't be 'in the rotation' exactly, but it will definitely be kept in mind for future excursions. If you get a chance, definitely give them a try.

[munch] [yummy noises] mmmm mmmmmmm, er mmmm mm. I'm eating the BBQ shredded brisket right now. VERY good bbq -- the taste doesn't fade away in your mouth like it frequently does other places. It's a small little dive place with few tables outside in the front. The peeps behind the counter are uber-friendly and the food rocks -- thank you Sameer for the heads up! I would write more, but I'm staring at 3/4 plate of bbq I still need to inhale.

I've had alot of BBQ and this is (get ready) THE best BBQ I've ever had. Period. I said it. The cold slaw with blue cheese is a must.

Clean, friendly atmosphere. The ribs are tender and meaty. The meat literally fell off the bone before I could pick it up! Also tried the brisket, I prefer it in slices rather than chopped up. Nonetheless, everything was eaten up in the end. Potato salad was very good. Usually I'm not a fan of that because it has way too much mayo but this one had a nice tangy flavor. I only eat my mom's, but now I have a new favorite in town. The meats came with a side of sliced pickles/onions, and soft bread. Everything tasted fresh. My only request is that they offer a larger drink selection. The cooler was very limited.

Since they're not open on Sundays, I hadn't gotten to try this place yet even though I live just down the road. The other day, I came home early from work to meet a service guy and stopped here for lunch. It's a small place, but clean. I believe the owner was there overseeing the process after likely preparing the food all morning. We got two chopped brisket sandwiches, a half rack of ribs, and 8oz containers of potato salad and baked beans to go. As someone else mentioned, the brisket sandwiches are served on small rolls so you get two, plus extra meat that falls out. The sauce is a vinegar based sauce which isn't really my thing so it was just ok to me. The potato salad was ok, but it had uncooked white onions in it which stood out too much to me. The baked beans were pretty good. I'm not a fan of green pepper, but aside from that they were the best of the meal. The ribs were indeed tender, but were beef ribs and lacked the fat content I'm used to with pork ribs. They were ok, but they didn't get finished. I would say there is nothing wrong with them, it's just not the preparations of food I prefer. I won't be back, but don't let it discourage you.

It was little after midnight and we were stuck in traffic from the Pacquiao/ Clottey fight (Cowboy stadium), all we could think about was eating some bbq. This was our only goal during our trip to Dallas - EAT BBQ. We started calling up all the bbq places and finally got through to OTB. "What time do you close? 2:00am. Serious?!! Were there!! " Dialed up the GPS and bee lined it there. Ordered some ribs, brisket, sausage, potato salad, beans, and bread. Took it all back to the telly and everyone was in silence for the next 25-30mins. Off the bone is off the hook!!! =)

Best BBQ in Texas hands down. Came here during a lunch break from a seminar. The brisket was so moist and barely needed any BBQ sauce. Their creamed corn was different from all the other places I've been to. I'm hoping they open one in Houston in the future.

Wow! Ordered the ribs with baked beans and pasta salad. Highly recommended! By far, the most well cooked ribs I've ever had. So tender but was still manageable to eat. The baked beans were outstanding, as was the pasta salad. I'll be going back every time I'm in Dallas.

Off The Bone Barbeque is located across the street from one of my favorite night spots, The Brooklyn Jazz Cafe. Or you could say it's a few blocks down from the new police station. I ordered the chopped beef sandwich and was given two palm size wheat multi-grain buns overflowing with saucy brisket. Imagine a barbecue brisket slider. The sauce was more spicy than sweet, which I don't mind. There was enough extra meat for a third sandwich. Also I got the quarter of a chicken, which was smoky and sauce was splashed across the top of it. The baked beans included the ingredients: bell pepper, onion, meat here and there. The potato salad had all sorts of things going on, it was a little too untraditional for me. I'll have to go back and try those ribs, they looked amazing on the other peoples plates.

Really good meat plates. Sides were ok. The ribs were the highlight!

Very tender. Good quality meat is used. Does it taste like BBQ? NO! Reason: They use only pecan for smoking. No oak, no hickory, no mesquite. Pecan only. Result: The flavor is so mild that the meat tastes baked, rather than BBQ'd.

Great ribs and brisket. I had family in town, they wanted BBQ, we were at the DMA so I pulled out my phone and yelped. Food was super good and quick. Potato salad and coleslaw were untraditional but fabulous. Fancy but comfortable. Only drawback- no alcohol. But brought beer from down the street and chilled.

After a few meetings in Dallas we decided to stop by again to check out the food. After a lot of one way streets and a few u turns we arrived to find an enclosed dining area when our last visit they had a little covered patio. The food has not changed, it is still some of the best BBQ around.

Simply delicious. Better than the Railhead or Angelo's BBQ in Fort Worth; better than Clark's Outpost in Tioga. The first BBQ place I've been that I really wanted to go back. And, the staff is incredibly friendly. And, the location is convenient.

The meat on the ribs did fall off the bone, but I had to ask myself where is the flavor!!! I mentioned that it was my first time and they gave me a sample and when I took the first bite I wanted to run out and hit another lunch spot, but I did not want to offend anyone. These ribs IMO opinion lacked flavor and should be classified as oven roasted... no smoke or spice. The sauce was also very weak.... I got the sausage which tasted like the lowest quality of meat found at your local grocery store. Beans and pasta were not tasty at all and lacked flavor... Horrible choice for lunch today. Baby Back Shack kills this place and so does several other BBQ joints..... They have a long way to go.... What is up with the baby size bread the give you!?!?!?!?! Too expensive to try if you have not been.. go to Baby Back Shack if you are downtown.

being it was my first time in texas, i wanted to try bbq. the hotel guide in my room had recommendations, but i opted asking the fella at the concierge for his top pick. he told me to go to off the bone. granted it was off the beaten path and not in the downtown area, he promised it was the real deal and where all the locals go. immediately as i stepped in i was warmly greeted by the family owned and ran staff. i asked them to serve me their best and ultimate favorites, and i got a plate with bbq ribs, smoked sausage, baked beans and coleslaw. everything was amazing and finger licking deliciousness! they stand true to their name as the ribs did fall off the bone. they even gave samples of the ribs to customers as they waited to order. the family/staff checked up on all the patrons during their meals, handed us wet naps as we finished, and bussed our tables. they had the epitome of southern hospitality, and bbq to die for. i didn't eat bbq the rest of my stay in dallas as not to taint the experience of good southern bbq at OtBB!
