First, they couldn't decide who was supposed to serve us. I ordered the House Special Yaki-Soba noodles, which were okay, but not great. They wouldn't let me order any skewers off the menu to accompany it, because apparently you can't order them before 5pm, even though I couldn't find that printed anywhere. The service, especially the kitchen, was particularly slow. Bento boxes were a tad overpriced. I definitely will not be back on my dime.

Met up with an old friend at Sushi Zushi at the Domain location. Our waitress was Ellen and she was brilliant, really helpful and friendly. We ordered the sushi sampler, Vegas roll, and Dragon roll and were full as bulls afterward. Everything tasted delicious and my favorite was the Las Vegas roll as well as the sashimi in the sampler.

Did lunch at the bar, bartender was very helpful on the menu and great to chat with . Had the Gyoza very flavorful good amount of meat inside and killer sauce, had Sushi Zushi Roll " riceless" way to much cream chees in it over powered the roll, Cristina Roll, supposed to be very spicy actually very bland and way to much rice. Then Domain roll, very flavorful right amount of spice and the kicker was kiwi Very nice for fruit on a roll. As many people I know that have been there and rant it was ok, had better in town,

Greatest Hamachi Kama I have ever had. I was visiting from Las Vegas with a very low expectaion of good sushi. This place rocks great sushi. Freshness, flavor, service. I bit over the top with the gimicky dishes but this chef represensts Texas well! I was born and raised in Hawaii and own a Food Processing company in Vegas. This guy can throw down with any Master sushi chef here....

I use to go to Sushi Zushi rather frequently because it wasn't an extremely expensive sushi restaurant. The service was solid and food was pretty good. I recently went there and the service was TERRIBLE. The food was still pretty good, but terrible service. I like when restaurants give me a never-ending glass of water, but I saw waiter standing around doing absolutely NOTHING and one was standing like 10 feet away from our table and we all had completely empty glasses and didn't do anything. We had to specifically ask for more water and when they refilled our water, they forgot my friend's (whose glass was completely empty). I asked for a to-go box and after bringing out the check and then returning the credit card, they didn't bother giving my to-go. Yo, I want the rest of my food. I had to ask and the waiter's response was "Oh yeah, I left it by the machine over there. I'll be right back". I saw him go into the men's room and returned with my to-go 5 minutes later. Sushi Zushi really needs to bring back the good service. The only reason for the 3 stars is the food keeping it up.

I would love to review the sushi at this place. Unfortunately, last night we arrived for our 8:00p reservation and was told that there was no reservation for us. No wait, there *is* a reservation, but that's irrelevant. We can't seat you for a long time. I can seat you at the bar? But we had reservations...we called an hour and a half ago!?! Sorry, sir. So we went to Uchiko. *Highly* recommended.

Loved it! This was my first visit and the only thing that (in my mind) could possibly be seen as downside is their very extensive menu 300+ items. My sister and I went for lunch and went a little overboard. I ordered their chirashi bento box and the negihama roll, my sister ordered the tempura appetizer and the tekka maki roll and we split the maverick roll ( my favorite!) Everything tasted really fresh, what was supposed to be hot was hot and what was supposed to be cold was ice cold. Our server was really friendly and gave us plenty of time to decide and also asked if we were on a work break so that they could make sure to get the food out quickly if we needed it to. The prices were a little higher than your average japanese restaurant but it is a nicer, higher end place. I will definitley be back!

I ordered 5 rolls with friends and didn't really love any of them. I also got really sick after eating at Sushi Zushi. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume correlation was not causation. Their menu is huuuuuge. Quite seriously, there are a hundred rolls to choose from. But I'd prefer 10 great rolls to choose from over the mediocre rolls we got. There's just nothing about this place that deserves a second visit. One positive is that they deliver sushi!

If I could give zero stars I would. So bad. Took an hour. I love sushi and this wasn't fresh, the roll was a mess and the dumplings were obviously frozen. The fried ice cream tasted old and soggy. So bad.

Sushi Zushi is so-so in my opinion. The pepper appetizer we ordered didn't have anything special about it and made me wonder why it was on the menu. The service was just ok. There was a tuna tower appetizer that was pretty darn good and i woulda just stuck to that had i known better. The sashimi was not great plus i thought it was kinda cheap to charge extra for finer cuts. Shouldn't you just offer the best always? Finally our roll had something like sriracha/rooster sauce on it which I thought was such an odd mix. Wasnt a big fan of the rolls flavor at all. Not sure of the costs but it didnt seem like an inexpensive sorta place. Soo needless to say I'm back to searching for a worthwhile sushi house around here.

We were loyal How Do Roll customers because it was fast and cheap. We didn't like the new format at How Do Roll and decided to give Sushi Zushi a try. Not only was the Sushi very good, but they deliver!!! It was totally fast and my Spicy Tuna Roll was only 6.50! Great Service and Quality. You have earned my office order every week.

Two words for this place: FOOD POISONING!! It disgusts me to think of it again but I am still recovering so I thought people should know. I came here Friday night with some friends. 2 out of 4 of us got extremely bad food poisoning- the worst thing in the world!! We ate spicy tuna & California shrimp rolls- no idea which thing made us so sick but it doesn't matter. The other 2 people in our party ate different stuff. I will never come back & I'd recommend people STAY AWAY! With a menu that big there's no way they have quality control and freshness/sanitation is obviously not one of their strong suits. I wasn't surprised when I went to the Health Department website and found out their sanitation score is 80 (barely a B). Ew!

Sushi Zushi at the Domain is pretty similar to Sushi Zushi on 5th St. In fact, i could probably just copy and paste the previous review. More uninspiring sushi. But this time there was an odd smallish take on the Spider Roll. And the cajun roll was too "flat" and almost seemed pre-packaged or something. It was like something you might find at a buffet or a grocery store. The salmon and tuna sashimi was pretty good and probably the sole reason for the 3 stars, but why is it so hard to get a decent amount of wasabi for 4 people? We sent our waiter back 3 times for more. Is there a shortage I don't know about? And on my Ikura scale, this Sushi Zushi receives a 4/10. Not good. I can really take or leave these trendy blights on the sushi world. Where is my best ever go to sushi dive in Austin with a crotchety old Japanese sushi chef and middle aged flirty Asian waitresses? Where are you hiding?

this is my first time eating at this location and I feel that I got ripped off. Katsu Don was soggy mess, it tasted horrible. It clearly said panko-crusted. Why would you panko crust something if you're going to drench it in soy sauce anyway? The egg, mushroom and whatever else was on there blended into a wet mess. Nothing tasted good and I ended paying $15 for my meal. Waitress Lori could've cared less. No apologies, no offer to replace or make it better. Never felt so ripped off. I'm definitely not coming back.

Right. I get Sushi Zushi's goal: it aims to amaze. Unfortunately, the only amazing thing about this place is its extensive menu. It's average, at best, at everything else. The biggest issue I had with their sushi was the freshness. It was obvious that their fish is not the freshest or the highest quality product. I had the hotate, escolar, and albacore nigiri. The escolar was the best of the bunch; it was at least buttery soft, but how could you ever go wrong with escolar? The hotate was chewy, and my albacore was crunchy. Crunchy. That is so... weird. Anyway, I wasn't super impressed with the sushi, but our server was friendly and nice. The atmosphere is what you'd expect at the Domain: clean, modern, and poshy. Sushi Zushi is a great place if you have a group of people with differing tastes, but not the place if you want top quality sushi.

This place will take many visits to get through the menu, and I love that. Get the cold sake unfiltred sho chiku bi (i believe that is how it is spelled, a christina roll (mild spicy), a teo roll(fried), the spicy octopus roll (their octopus is amazing) and the crawfish/green mussels dynamite! Sooo good. The only thing I don't like here that I've tried is the italian roll.

Friend invited me here for happy hour. So happy hour here is actually worth it. Had a beer, two cocktails, and a couple of plates of food for just a little over 23 bucks. I still wouldn't come here for dinner, but the happy hour prices are definitely doable.

Yes, it's suburban. Yes, it's built with a facade. Yes, its n0m delicious. I'll forgive the first two because Zushi has one of the best happy hours in Austin! Cheap drinks and cheap rolls are what keeps me coming back... oh, and did I mention: it's n0m delicious? If you're going to venture off the happy hour menu it'd be a crime to look past the Chirashi bowl. Legend has it that the Gods couldn't fit more sashimi in a bowl than Zushi does in their Chirashi. Get it. Send me a message of adoration later.

Well i took my girlfriend there last night and iven we were there at 9:30... but they close at 10. The service was ok not great i felt as we were bothering them. The apps took some time and again were ok. For the money i would travel elsewhere. NO personality in the staff. They only got 2 stars because they were clean or they would have gotten 1. place sucks.

I love great tasting Sushi, and once I find it, I am flexible with paying a premium for it. For me, this is the Sushi Zushi experience; you'll pay a bigger tab, but will get great testing sushi. My wife loves this place and her favorite roll is the Kosimo roll. I always order something different.

As big sushi fans, my friend and I defaulted to this sushi restaurant in the conveniently located Domain area. After being completely overwhelmed by the sheer number of food offerings (seriously, their menu is a book), I settled on the Jack Roll. With crab, avocado, eel sauce and topped with their special Las Vegas sauce, I was ultimately pleased with this dining experience and would definitely consider returning to this location.

This is my favorite new Family Happy Hour spot. The happy hour menu is amazing: I had two YUMMY nice-sized rolls and two fabulous cocktails for 20 bucks, while my daughter played happily with the other kids (of parents like us who fondly remember going out for leisurely dinner and drinks on a Friday night) in the totally gated-off baby jail, I mean patio; occasionally running back to the table for bites of her giant $3 plate of gyoza. There seemed to be a collective understanding that the patio was for kids, which I appreciated, because I normally would not classify this as a restaurant that is good for kids. In terms of being a foodie dining with a toddler, it was the perfect storm.

I had the most wonderful lunch here today with my Sister and her family and our dogs. Yes a nice sushi place that allows dogs on their patio - before you say ewe - my dog is clean she stays under the table out of the way and does not make a sound - if only more 2 legged children were so well behaved. This place might not stand up to 5 stars every visit; but, today I could not find one thing to bring down the stars except that the Salmon Sashimi was lacking a bit in flavor. I could not put my finger on what was lacking other than that perfect richness and that melt on your tongue like butter taste/mouth feel - perhaps it was the thick cut as apposed to the thinner slices. Nonetheless the Sashimi was a very generous portion for 9.00 and very good just not Woohoo! As god as it gets! good. Other than the 4 star Salmon Sashimi I would give everything else here 5 stars from our greeter to the bathrooms. Our greeter seeing that we had 2 dogs and a stroller suggested we push 2 2 tops together so that we would have more room and out of the main walk way - he must have been reading my mind! Our waiter Danial explained the extensive menu that includes lots of different grilled Japanese specialties, noodle dishes and pointed out the numerous vegetarian options as well as the daily Bento box lunch deals. When my sister started ordering a bunch of basic "safe" rolls he encouraged her to order at least one of their special rolls and order more from there. Based on my sister's tastes he suggested the LIR Roll (spicy Tuna and avocado topped with fresh salmon and a spicy sweet sauce (heavy on the spicy) - it was 12.00 and worth every penny - my new favorite roll that I would definitely order again - the texture and flavor was perfect in every way and no need for any wasabi or soy sauce. The Spicy Tuna with daikon sprouts and chives was equally yummy at only 6.50. The Philadelphia Roll (7.00) was a good ratio of Salmon to smaller amounts of cream cheese and avocado. Their basic rolls are the price of what you would pay at the grocery store for pre-prepared cold sushi at more than twice the flavor plus sit down service. My hot Green Tea came in a beautiful square stoneware tea pot that I loved with a small round stoneware mug to sip out of! For dessert we shared the Mochi (slightly chewy rice dough balls) filled with green tea ice cream (3 balls to an order) and the Mango Sherbet - the perfect refreshing palate cleansing end to a meal! And the bathroom was the most perfect zen soothing experience I have ever had in a bathroom so much that I had to take pictures of the bathroom.. Look at my pics and too bad I could not add the soothing bathroom tunes:)

I find myself in conflict with Sushi Zushi, both in general and at this specific location. I think the sushi is great, amazing, awesome, and they have a menu that goes on as long as Gisele Bundchen's legs. They have varying prices that could fit the budget of just about anybody, and the servers I've had were all great at making informed recommendations. [Aside: I love the 5th St. location, though it inexplicably qualifies under the same argument I'm about to make against this one.] An earlier reviewer called this place "sterile," and while I kind of agree, I think it's more of an apt description to say that it seems like the type of nondescript background restaurant you'd find if you'd accidentally stumbled upon an episode of "The Hills" or "Real Housewives of the Ninth Circle of Hell," or whatever that last one's called. (It was accidental, right? You don't watch those shows on purpose, do you? Tell me it was just an accident.) It just seems like a place where people who are never seen as anything but desperate go to be... seen. And I think SZ CULTIVATES THIS atmosphere, as they seem to bend over backwards to be as trendy as possible, decor-wise. I fully would've expected this type of scene to go down in my hometown of Dallas but not ATX. Here it just seems like an anomaly. Like the "Isaac Mizrahi for Target" of pseudo-upscale sushi restaurants, always wanting to be as good as the named designers they so obviously steal from and pretend to be as good as, but never really hitting the mark. But, you know, the food's pretty good.

I went to Sushi Zushi last night to partake of some of their culinary fare. When we walked in we were warmly greeted and quickly seated. The menu is quite extensive showing what is likely the most "house specialty" rolls of any other sushi restaurant I have visited. We had the J Roll and Yummy Yummy rolls. The J Roll was a bit more traditional. No sauce but the ingredients complimented the red snapper beautifully. A very nice roll for a hot summer's day when you don't want anything too overwhelming. The Yummy Yummy roll was...well, yummy! It was decadent, filling and the sweet-savory eel sauce. Overall the roll was very filling and flavorful. I took off one star because I could have gone for about half the amount of eel sauce on the roll just so the flavor of the contents came through better. The rice was basically drenched in the sauce so the sauce was a bit overpowering on some bites. I didn't find the happy hour listing online but it is M-F 3-7pm. The selection they had looked nicer than Kona's. Kona's happy hour rolls are pretty plain (spicy tuna, California), but Sushi Zushi delivers even then. I will have to visit again. Despite the hard to say-three-times-fast name, Sushi Zushi delivered on all accounts. It certainly held its own up against the Austin staples. Welcome to Austin and my sushi restaurant rotation!

Wow. I can't believe two different times were so different!!! I was bragging to my friends the wonderful service and food and took them there for happy hour recently. Big big mistake. I had, possibly, the worst waitress. She forgot part of our order (my cousin's) of the fried cheese and then my cousin questioned where it was about 45 minutes later. She goes oh it takes awhile...then she said, oh five more minutes, do you still want it? (i.e. she forgot) She had more of the other waiters serving our table than she did. She brought me a refill of my diet coke and it was coke. It took about 15 minutes to bring the right refill and I asked her at least three times. Then when the bill time came, it took her another 15 minutes and she did it wrong twice. She gave far more attention to the tables who were ordering alcohol and without her friends at the restaurant helping her out, I don't think we would've even gotten our food. Will not go again. Back to Kenobi for happy hour sushi.

Ok, so I am going to say it. I am Asian and this is my first sushi experience. I am very afraid to try new things but have been wanting to try it for a while. My experience was great! My husband went to Japan and now has a very high standard for sushi and enjoyed highly. We went a little crazy and got the works: Veggie Tempura Zaru Soba Rooster Roll Austin Roll (duh!) Tekka Maki Roll I really liked the Rooster Roll (way spicy) and the Austin Roll. The flavor was fresh and that was my main worry. Our waiter, Micheal, was super awesome and didn't make me feel dumb when I asked for a knife, because the rolls were too large to fit in my mouth. In fact, he informed me that I could ask them to make them smaller and longer next time we were there. Overall, I am very happy with our experience and will be dining there often!

So I decided to try this place for lunch. I have driven by the 5th street locations many times and now the at the Domain opened. They deliver to my house for free and have an extensive menu, so why not? Like I said, an extensive menu, it has like over 70 items, no joke! cooked food, every kind of sushi, sashimi, nigiri and desserts. So I tried two of the rolls and a salad. The standard Japanese salad was pretty good and had steamed asparagus. The ginger dressing was good, a bit thick in texture, but had good flavor. The key west roll was and the dragon roll were quite good. Everything had a fresh flavor and was pretty good, but you could accomplish this same flavor at Maki Roll. So nothing fantastic, but average good sushi. Now the dragon roll was a bit masago-tastic with TONS of masago concentrated in one area. The delivery guy came in a cute Sushi Zushi red bug! (the car) and was on time. Pros: They deliver in a timely manner, food seems pretty good. Cons: Pricey and just average sushi.

Saw the cute patio at Sushi Zushi in the Domain, and had to try it out on one of our nice spring days. Besides the slight wind tunnel effect due to it's placement between stores, it's a great place to sit outside and do some people watching. Great happy hour specials (tried some amazing saketini with cucumber juice and something spicy around the rim - YUM!) Soft Shell crab - agree with previous reviewer - cheap and tasty. A lot to share! Sashimi Sampler - 12 large thick cut pieces of sashimi. 3 pieces of each time - a whitefish, salmon and tuna and octopus. Loved them all but the octopus (I don't eat it, but husband didn't care for it at all). Definitely substantial portions for $15. A variety of rolls - no idea what we ordered (husband chose) but they were YUMMY and a lot of food. Somewhat on the pricey side (12-15 a piece) but a lot to share and their menu selection is ginormous. Like almost overwhelming. Great service (attentive waiter who explained a lot of things to us) and kid friendly (had the little one in tow - they gave her crayons, lots of paper to draw on, and she enjoyed some of their chicken and cheese creations...) I will definitely be back! It is a welcome addition to the Domain.

Really like the Chirashi. it is a bowl of basically all the sushi stamples on rice(see photo). a good way to sample and is way better than the sampler platters and it was a very large portion for a decent price. The Crawfish Dynamite was good but VERY spicy and We had the Tower which I thought was tuna, or a mix of seafood but on the online menu I only see Salmon, so maybe that was it, however it was really good, spicy as well but very yummy and didn't make my nose run like the Crawfish did. The veggie tempura was a large serving as well. Overall, I have found that they offer good quality and good portions for the prices, of course sushi is general expensive, but at least you will be full and not completely broke at the end of the night. The desserts are small portions, definitely meant as single serving, but they are also really inexpensive, and you probably are not going there for dessert anyway.

I've been wanting to eat at Sushi Zushi for a long time, but keep forgetting about it since I already have a sushi spot that is a favorite. Saturday night while my husband and I thought about where we wanted to dine, we decided to hit up this place. It's in the Domain and we figured it would be packed, but I made an 8pm reservation through Yelp and off we went. We showed up about 30 minutes early and the hostess said she was just about to set up our table. I saw a few other couples waiting and couldn't believe they were ready to take us to our table so quickly...but I was happy! We shared 4 different rolls and each one was different, but delicious! The menu is huge and there is a lot to chose from, but our waiter explained that the menu is set up in sections (i.e. salmon, tuna, specialty rolls, etc) and that helped us navigate through the choices. Our waiter was super friendly and we really enjoyed our dinner! We'll be back again, for sure!

Holy goodness! This place was amazing! To start, the wait was well worth it, they let you know you're table is ready by text which is very helpful during long waits! We started with some edamame which of course is always a favorite appetizer, then we shared the yummy yummy roll...my mouth is still watering from the aftermath of how delicious it was! Next we had the domain roll which was strangely good but not something I plan on ordering again. Overall it was a great experience and very very good!

I don't understand the hype. It's in a prime location in the domain. So I thought this would be great. It was a sunny Sunday afternoon, so we sat outside. Our waiter took forever long to get us served and sushi to get to us. Maybe 25+ mins to get sushi out to us. (They were not busy at all) I will say they have a very extensive sushi list. Never have I been so lost on what to order. I do like there selection. The sushi itself was very good. Nothing tasted old or left out.

I used to live at the domain 2 years ago and would always eat here during happy hour after work. The bar staff was awesome and helpful and some of the best cucumber drinks I've ever had and for that I give it 2 stars since today was the worse experience I've ever had at a restaurant. I made a to-go order over the phone and drove from round Rock to enjoy some sushi. The person on the phone said that they weren't busy and that it would only take 20 min. So I got ready and make it there around 25 after between driving and parking. I walked in and got greeted by the staff went to the pick up counter and no one was there, there was 3-4 staff members inside that kept looking at me and then looking away carrying on talking. A girl passed by me and said someone will be with me shortly so I waited. Then the bartender saw me and said someone will be with me shortly so I continued waiting. A 3rd waitress passed by and told me the same a few minutes later, it had been already over 15 min of me standing there with plenty of staff acknowledging my existence it was football sunday so the place wasn't busy so I left and picked up food from another restaurant. I got a call 2 hours later letting me know my order was ready and if I still wanted it (it was a warm dish that probably was seating there for a long while by now) I explained the situation to the person that contacted me and her only answer was "so you don't want it anymore right?" ... I'll save myself the drive and find a sushi restaurant with better service close to my area.

Sushi doesn't normally come to my mind when visiting Austin, but I needed a place to eat nearby with the kids that was open a bit later than most restaurants in this area. Plus, The Domain is a great place to let the kids play and run out some steam, so we decided to try Sushi Zushi. We ordered a standard spicy tuna roll, a Janie roll, and an LIR roll, along with chicken yakatori and a tempura udon, all to go. The chicken yakatori was average. Everything else was edible but not very good. Tempura udon is a simple dish but somehow they were able to make it even more boring and tasteless. It was just salty. The spicy tuna was really bad. I'm actually wondering if they made a different roll because this did not taste at all like a standard spicy tuna roll. Either way, they get a lower rating for getting the order wrong or making a bad roll. The LIR roll had some nice salmon on it that I could tell was fresh and it was tasty, but again the roll itself was just okay. Janie roll was subpar because there was something off about the unagi and there wasn't very much of it in the roll. Service at the to go counter was fast and friendly and although we didn't eat at the restaurant, it seemed nice.

I do love coming to this location. but I would like to make one suggestion. This restaurant is not very kid friendly. I have two kids, so a lot of where I go is based on if they offer a children's menu or if they can share with me. My daughter is a big fan of sushi, so I wish this restaurant offered a children's menu with noodles, rice, chicken, and sushi. I think it would be a success. But then again that is just my personal opinion ;) regardless we still will show up I just wish they could offer small portions of sushi for kiddos.

Wow, happy hour here is a DEAL. We had 2 drinks, 3 apps, and 5 rolls for less than $50 before tip. Our server was fantastic (hi Keith!). He really knew the menu and spoke about it in a way that convinced me he'd actually eaten the food. He was also super friendly and attentive and didn't mind that our toddler was occasionally quite loud. Service alone gets 5 stars. Now, the food. Gyoza is good. A little on the fried & greasy side, but still tasty. The mussels dynamite were amaaaazing (Keith's rec). Do yourself a favor and try those. The spicy salmon and philly rolls were fairly standard but the fish was fresh and you can't beat the HH pricing. The spicy scallop roll is deeeeelish and the LIR roll is fresh and scrumptious. The spider roll is also fairly standard but quite good. I had a yuzu-basil mojito and Keith (being the rockstar he is) asked the bartender to go light on the simple syrup for me since I'd been asking him for a cocktail that was not very sweet. It was tasty for sure, although not particularly strong. Worth it for $5 though. Only little hiccup was that one of our orders of gyoza got lost in the kitchen shuffle, but a manager had them fire an order for us immediately when he figured it out. I'd definitely return the next time I'm in Austin.

This place has really good sushi at standard prices. The spicy edamame is really good and we get it almost every time. I also really like the seaweed salad and the house salad. I usually get unagi or spicy tuna rolls. They also have Crawfish rolls which is great for my boyfriend and he can't easy shellfish but can eat Crawfish. I don't think I have ever gotten non sushi but their main menu looks pretty good too. I have also had good alcoholic drinks and hot tea. The ambiance is nice but they tend to keep it very cold just a warning in case you tend to need a jacket inside a lot. The patio is nice when weather is good. The service tends to be pretty good but sometimes it can be a little slow. There doesn't tend to ever be much of a wait and when there is it goes pretty fast.

Stopped in for lunch today. I liked it. I like the layout. The waiter was cool also. Overall, this is a good restaurant. I had the Alaskan roll. It was good. However, the next time Southern Thread has a sale ( that's the reason I'm at The Domain ) I'll hit Kona. I'm not knocking SZ, however, my son and I just favor Kona.

Very clean, nice, inviting environment. Staff is always positive and smiling. Love it! Great happy hour! I come here so much and have gotten to know the staff. Management does a great job of making rounds on tables and ensuring their employees are giving the customers exactly what they want. I look forward to coming here every week! Love you all!

I'll start by saying that I've surely been spoiled by Uchi, which is both my go to sushi place and my neighborhood sushi stop. Of course, Uchi is world class. My wife and I decided to check out Sushi Zushi because we just wanted dinner, not a night out. We parked in the covered parking garage directly behind Sushi Zushi and entered through the rear entrance. Walking through the restaurant to get to the hostess stand was a bit circuitous, but I was glad they had direct access from the parking structure. On to the food... This place has a HUGE menu. So big that you will need a few minutes to study the entire thing. To make matters worse, our server handed me FOUR MENUS: the regular menu, the yakitori menu, the happy hour menu and the cocktail menu. What the fuck? Anytime a restaurant has a multi-part menu that take more than 5 minutes to completely review I assume it's low quality. You can't be great at so many things. The Cheesecake Factory proves this point and Sushi Zushi partially reinforced it. We ordered some yakitori (grilled meat and veggies on skewers), some edamame, two sushi rolls, four pieces of nigiri and an order of hamachi kama (grilled fish). The yakitori, edamame and the kama are the simplest dishes, but the Sushi Zushi kitchen still miss the mark a bit. The edamame was so salty that we found ourselves trying to wipe off the excess. The yakitori was salty, overcooked and cold. The hamachi kama was really well cooked and would have been awesome, except for the fact that it too was over seasoned with too much salt and too much pepper. The two rolls we ordered were actually better than the simpler cooked food. The Green Bay roll and the Special Philadelphia roll were both tasty. The hamachi nigiri was also good. Service was ok, but not great... twice I asked out waiter to explain some of the ingredients on the menu and both times he was at a loss. He did go check with the kitchen and report back. I am sure it's hard to be knowledgeable about everything when the menu literally has hundreds of items. One last observation... this place is LOUD. The restaurant was about 80% full when we were seated and the din was noticeable. It's not the place for a quiet romantic dinner (which wasn't what we were looking for, thankfully.) In summary, this place would be better if they edited their menu a bit and used a less heavy hand on the salt shaker. Some of the food (like the hamachi kama) is quite good, but was taken down a notch by the excessive salt. (BTW... we didn't use any soy... all of the salt was applied in the kitchen.) If you want an alternative, head to Tokyo Sushi in Westlake or Mushashino on Mopac. Both are locally owned, in the same price range and better quality food.

Huge menu. Great drink prices for Happy Hour. Specialty drinks are $5. Great service. The patio is decent.

Just had Sunday lunch there again.. Sushi was great... Yakitori could be grilled more versus broiled. Sushi prices are reasonable and the service is excellent

The only time Sushi Sushi is worth it is happy hour from 4 to 7 PM weekdays. $3 22 ounce beers and cheap rolls. Other than that the rolls are a little pricey, high end West Coast materials and presentation, but still pricey for just an easy going night out. Again, the happy hour is my default spot at the moment though (5 times in the last two weeks).

I have tried this location twice now and have been very happy with the food and service. First time for dinner and second time to try the Happy Hour. The Happy Hour on 03/31/10 was great! Recommend: - Mushroom Yakitori - delicious and tasty - Green Mussel Dynamite - totally awesome for the price - Soft Shell Crab Kara-agge - sweet deal! - Key West Roll - yummy Not Worth It: - Hamachi Kama - not bad... but could be better on taste - House Seafood Bowl w/Udon - basically miso soup with udon and some seafood, not that great and a little salty Only drawback is that too many of their rolls have creme cheese filling which makes all the rolls taste about the same. I recommend trying this place during Happy Hour so you can figure out what is best for your taste buds.

The sushi here keeps bringing us back. I love the Riceless San Antonio Roll. For you rice and cream cheese lovers, I highly recommend the Bora Bora Roll. Around $14 but a lot to go around so perfect for sharing.

I love Sushi Zushi! They have a great happy hour menu until 7 o'clock with favorite dishes at lower prices and they have some wonderful Japanese comfort food selections. I only wish that they would put grilled mackerel on the menu!

Delivery until 10 is solid and generally on time. The menu is extensive. If you don't have an idea what your hungry for, you might have a brain aneurysm. Im not a fan of their type of batter for the fried rolls, and I don't think they do tempura flakes. Mango infused soy sauce is great.

i can here cause of the good happy hour ratings on yelp and i was disappointed. there were only like 4 rolls on the happy hour menu and they were still $4 each, nothing special, you can get the same prices elsewhere too for those cheap rolls. the drinks were $5 for happy hour and i was not that impressed either. will not be returning

I met friends on a Thursday night. They had eaten here many times but it was my first. The environment is nice and the menu is extensive. Almost too big- but there were a lot of great options for both traditional and non-traditional Japanese food and a had some of both. We had the spicy edamame, spider roll, Oaklawn roll, Futo Maki, Rice curry with chicken, and a few desserts. Great dinner and nice service, looking forward to dining here again.

This is my go-to sushi place up north where I live. I've been to most sushi places up by my house, and I like this one the best. They serve solid nigiri. When I want sushi, I want traditional nigiri: no fancy-pants sashimi artfully designed on a plate at an astronomical price, no elaborate rolls that more often than not cover up the perfect taste of fish, soy sauce, wasabi and sushi rice. While I think beer is the perfect compliment for sushi, sometimes a girl needs a martini after a hard day at the office. Sushi zushi delivers these things. Further, the atmosphere is good - nice decor and soothing lights (I can't stand bright flickering overheads). Prices are appriate for sushi - not the cheapest, not the most expensive place to go. They also have the biggest selection of Japanese non-sushi food I've ever seen. I like going to a place where their main focus is Japanese food. I question any place that serves sushi along with some other asian cuisine. If the sushi place serves Chinese food and sushi - it's probably a Chinese place. Get the Chinese. If it serves Korean and sushi - it's a Korean place. Get the Korean. But I digress! Back to Sushi Zushi. if you're like me and just want good nigiri: well-prepared sushi rice with fresh good-sized fish, a good atmosphere and a good martini, this is your place!

Great happy hour prices and the food is good. Spicy salmon roll is fantastic. However, the manager was a complete ass. I don't think he liked that we were a large group and that we had 3 little kids with us. I was ready to walk out because he was being a jerk about adding another table so our party of 9 wouldn't have to squish into a table for 6. Thank God our wonderful waitress Jennifer saved the evening...made up for all the manager's jerki-ness. A warning to all you parents out there...avoid that male manager and you'll have a pleasant evening!

This place is terrible. Fish wasn't even the right color. Supermarket or even gas station sushi if there is such a thing would be better than this. Never going back. Weird people at the bar and there were awful some awful smells in this place! Open up the menu and it was received with a wofting terrible aroma.
