Piranha Killer Sushi Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Went last night for dinner & drinks with my husband & it was great. I had a glass of champagne to couple with one of their signature drinks the Victoria's Secret. I ate the mussels in saffron sauce with a side of rice since nothing else comes with mussels. My husband ate sashimi & drank some kind I beer, I forget. We both thought food & drinks were good. They have patio dining which is nice. Music is loud inside. Our server was nice, attentive, & knew everything about the menu & what was in stock. I will keep going to this restaurant as I have for years. My visits are never disappointing.

Went here tonight with a couple friends and we both had our baby-in-tow. First impression - not so good. It was not a very accommodating place for families. I was honestly surprised when they got us high chairs. The seating in the restaurant is quite strange. Tables in between bars; pillars in the middle of the dining areas... the worst is the bathroom situation: 4 bathrooms - 1 womens, 1 mens, 2 unisex, and not ONE baby changing station in ANY of them. I had to put my 1yr old on the floor!! Very disappointing. I will say, the food was relatively delicious. Edamame - nothing special, but it wasn't bad. We ordered 5 rolls: The Blue Bay Roll, the Heartburn Roll, the Spider Roll, The Marry Me Roll, and the Bullet Roll. I hate crawfish, but handsdown, the Heartburn was awesome. The Spider was nothing super crazy but it was good. I absolutely raved over the Marry Me Roll - who would have thought to put strawberries and kiwi with fish?!? The Bullet was pretty phenomenal as well. Truly, the only "bad" one was the Blue Bay. Neither my husband nor I, nor our friend who tried it as well (just to be sure) enjoyed it. The ambiance was really quiet. Not very many people there for a Thursday night. But we were ok with that. We have a 1yr old and our friends have an almost 2yr old. Neither of our kids are obnoxious or crazy, but it was still nice to not feel like we were interrupting other people's dinners. I will say that even with it being low-key and not a lot of people, our waitress was not SUPER attentive. Yeah, she swung by a couple times, but as a person who as done her fair share of waitress-ing in the past, our girl definitely had some room for improvement. My biggest complaint is truly the lack of accommodation for families. It honestly boggles my mind that my girlfriend and I had to change our baby's diapers on the floor. That's not acceptable. My daughter is special needs and I really don't need to introduce her to grimy stuff on the floor - and I'm not even one of those super-protective, crunchy moms. It's just gross! Get a changing table. Also, this may seem kind of dumb, but I ordered a hot green tea - I would have preferred jasmine, but they only had green - and I really enjoy honey with my tea. They didn't have any. Actually, I was told they didn't have ANYTHING to sweeten my tea with. #firstworldproblems Yeah, I know. And I wasn't super upset about it, I still drank it like a champ. But a little honey would have been nice.

I had dinner here tonight at 6:45, with the hostess informing my bf and I that there were 15 minutes left of happy hour. Great!! We put in an order for the salmon ceviche, the dragon roll, and the dancing eel roll. The ceviche came out in about 10 minutes into service and we finished that up quickly. And then we waited for the rolls to come out....and waited.....and waited..... They literally did not come out until 30 minutes of me putting in the order, which I think is a ridiculous amount of time to make TWO ROLLS!!! Never have I ever waited that long for a sushi roll to come out before. The restaurant was 1/3 full at most. The overall quality of the sushi was fresh as usual and our waitress was attentive to us, but I still cannot get over that the wait for the food was that long. I don't know if piranha was just having a bad day or what because I've never experienced this here before.

I'm really let down, this used to be my favorite sushi spot. The last 3 times I've gone in, I ended up leaving and going somewhere else. The quality of the food has just dwindled to the point where I think some of the sushi buffets have better items. It really sucks, a big group of us used to come after work all the time for happy hour. Its apparent that I am not the only one, it has also been pretty empty when I've gone in. Guess I have to drive all the way to Fort Worth for my sashimi fix.

If you visit the Arlington location, ask for Joanne Le! I think most people come for the environment. It's located in the highlands and it's a nice place with a long list of drinks. The sushi is mediocre and the cooked entrees are what you'd typically expect like fried rice and noodles. They have some items that stand out like the salmon rose and tuna tataki. Service is always quick and never disappointing.

Piranha Killer Sushi is where you go when you want to dress up a little, have a nice ambience and eat mediocre sushi. It's "where white people go to eat sushi." Very little is left to the actual culture of the food. So then why do I still give it 4 stars? Here's why: Piranha, to me, isn't trying to be traditional and do justice to Jiro. They're a modern sushi bar made for people to relax and have good food. Plus for sushi beginners like a few of my friends, this is a good segway to the real good stuff. Also, the staff experience I had was pretty good. They told us about a new menu item and we ordered it. We didn't like it. They bought us something else without any hassle and actually asked our opinion on why we dislike said dish. I don't know too many restaurants that are willing to take this kind of critique from consumers. So thanks nice people and good service. And Sake bombs. Yes, can't forget those. Thank you Sake bombs.

Wow! What a change! I went here last night and it was one of the best experience I've ever had at one of the chains. The food was spot on amazing. The food came out pretty fast even tho there was a bridal party going on. I was very impressed with how much the taste has changed since I've last been here. ^-^ HOW GREAT! It is now on top of my list for best location of Piranha~

Environment: Super clean restaurant with spotless tables and chairs. Boyfriend and I visited on a Sunday night around 7 and the place was fairly empty. I didn't mind, because I hate waiting and watching other people eat when I'm already hungry. I have to admit that the food took the longest time to come out. I don't know if the sushi chefs were just chilling or what, but we waited about 20-25 minutes just to get our appetizer. Waitress was super friendly and was eager to introduce new items on the menu to us. She was the one who recommended the Salmon Ceviche (which I will rave about later). Food: Like I mentioned before, we came for a light dinner. We ordered the Salmon Ceviche (slices of salmon topped with mango, Sriracha, jalapenos, tomatoes, and cilantro). I had the Tri-Color Sashimi Roll (tuna, salmon, white tuna, and crab wrapped in cucumber), and my boyfriend ordered the Ranger Roll (jalapeno, cream cheese, crab, topped with salmon?) The rolls were good, but I have to admit that they didn't taste special. I was most pleased with the freshness of the fish. I have to emphasize the ceviche though; I've never tried it before and I'm not even sure if it's available at any other sushi restaurant around Arlington. Absolutely amazing, and I immediately wished that I had ordered 2 more plates of just the ceviche instead of my sashimi roll. Quality was amazing and the mix of flavors just blew me away. Waitresses are friendly, but sushi chefs are slow. Must try the Salmon Ceviche.

Went in during the Cowboys game and the place was empty. It was nice to be able to eat and enjoy the game without having to deal with the loud craziness. I had the Pad Thai. Theirs was very different than what I'm used to but it was really good. The sushi was good but wasn't the best in the area as others seem to think. The waitress we had was really nice but almost seemed fake. She kept calling us "love and honey" overall I would say it was a good place but not something I would run back to

To all my sushi haters out there; LISTEN UP! My name is MEGHAN G and I stand before you today as a sushi hater. That's right. I think it's a texture issue. But ladies and gentlemen, let me tell you this. This place has changed my entire view on sushi. Everyone seems to be more fond of Chaucers but Pirahna has much more to offer and a wayyyyy bigger and better variety. I got the HeartBurn roll and the crawfish on top made me understand why they have "KILLER" in the name. The sushi was murderous. ---haha. The fried rice? Meh. Wasn't memorable but I'll definitely head back for the sushi.

I went here for happy hour with a few girl friends and we were the only ones there. It was dead. We were starving so we immediately placed our orders. Our foods took FOREVER to come out which was surprising since we were the only ones there! My friends and I were literally there for 2-3 hours. Our server wasn't as attentive as we would like him to be even though we were the only table at the restaurant. The prices were decent for happy hour. I ordered the salmon ceviche which I loved and I also ordered the saffron mussels. If you do order the saffron mussels, as for a bowl of rice and that'll fill you up. I don't think I would come back again because of the service and wait.

Relaxed atmosphere during the week: crack open the huge menu and order some funky sushi or sashimi items for dinner. I like the many martini options, and for sushi rolls: Latino, Love @ First Sight, Dr Fran, Tri-Color Shashimi (no rice), Sake Belly and the Heartburn Rolls. Come hungry.

Hubby and I haven't gone here in over a year. It used to be our go to sushi restaurant until we discovered sushi axiom in fw. We only went this past wk bc some friends were craving sushi and this was the closest place to us. We were reminded of why we stopped going. This review is based mostly on food, not service. We had excellent service, especially for dining with 2 babies. They had undergone a major remodel since we were last here. They've added a patio by taking away some parking, but not a big deal since they weren't too busy and parking spots in the Highlands is plentiful. They added 2 restrooms, but no baby changing tables or any area to change a baby in any of the 4 restrooms. Good thing my baby can stand. I had to change her standing. Anyway, to get to the food. I had a sore throat and wanted some Miso soup hoping it would soothe my throat. Soup came out warm and got cold quick. The texture was too grainy and made my throat feel more irritated. We ordered our usual: vietnamese summer roll, tricolor sashimi, dancing eel roll, and salmon ceviche. Friends ordered the sashimi dinner and a specialty roll. Flavor was ok but I felt like they are not very generous with their cuts of fish. This is partly why we stopped going. (The main reason we stopped was bad service the last time we sat at the sushi bar). We didn't get too full, so my friend ordered another order of salmon ceviche. What a joke: it seemed like they were testing to see who can cut the thinnest fish I really wish we took a picture of how ridiculous it was. The proportion was so off: less than 1mm thin salmon topped with double the size mango, jalapeño and smothered in salt and hot sauce. I kid you not, you the salmon was transparent bc it was sliced so thinly. I would rather drive the extra 20 min to fw next time.

Came here for lunch and ordered the sashimi bento box and the chicken bento.. Very tasty!! I loved the seaweed salad and the sashimi was nice and fresh. My boyfriend really enjoyed the crab cake that came with his. I would definitely come back!

Blue Crab Fried Rice! Need I say more? Fried rice topped with blue crab and mozzarella cheese! This will be a once a month treat for me! I didn't like Piranha the first time I visited but my wife asked me to with her. I'm so glad I did!

We've been coming to this location for years. Since the remodel, it hasn't been the same. The layout makes no sense with dining tables right next to the bar tables. No definition of bar space and dining space. The cozy, sexy ambiance has been lost. They need to work on the outdoor space as well. Maybe adding some privacy walls, greenery, lights, and music. Nobody wants to stare at cars in a parking lot while eating. The service is hit or miss. Most nights it seems as if they have a "second string" staff with nobody really wanting to be there. On my last visit we waited over 15 minutes for a drink refill and finally had to motion to the bartender that we would like more drinks. Waitress was MIA most of the night never asking us if we needed anything or how or food was. We asked for soy sauce and wasabi and she never brought it. We finally asked another waiter. We waited a long time for our rolls as well. The place was empty so I'm not sure why it would take over 20 minutes to deliver our food. The food is the only thing that I can say stays fairly consistent. It's not as fresh as it used to be but it's still above average sushi. The Highlands location needs to take lessons from the North location or Fort Worth or this place will continue to go down the tubes!

This is by far my favorite sushi restaurant. The service is good but the food is amazing. I get the same thing everything but it's always different! (If that makes any sense) I always start off with the shashimi sampler, 9 pieces for 13$. It comes with 3 pieces of salmon, 3 tuna, 3 escolar (white tuba). BEST SHASHIMI EVERY! The escolar melts like butter in your mouth, delicious! My entree is ALWAYS the Chef's Special. This is off the secret menu and not everyone knows about it. By far the best roll they have. It is a roll made with whatever the chef wants to prepare. I've gotten salmon, crawfish, tuna, soft shell crab, etc. it has yet to disappoint and a must try! To end it off I had the tempura vanilla ice cream, so good. Overall, I love this place and would recommend to any of my friends.

  • Jerrick D.

It's not bad. There are a lot of different types sushi I haven't tried. The Marry Me hits every taste bud and is worth a shot. The crab cakes remind me of my moms salmon cakes. Sushi Axium is by far the best I've had! Larger portions and the drinks are stronger!!!

  • Daisy C.

Sushi, good sushi. I give it four stars. It's honeslty the most decent/good sushi place that we have around besides sushi Domo! It has pretty good service and a wide selection of sushi. But what always has be coming back for more, had to be their CEVICHE! I believe that it's an appetizer , but it's soo good. You can't really go wrong with anything. Their service is a bit slow on the weekends , but that's because they are the only sushi place in the Highlands!

    (4)
  • Emily P.

I would give piranhas 5 stars but the service was terrible. The wait staff and hostess all acted like they hated their jobs and didn't want to be there. It's a shame the staff is a horrible display of the food cause the food is awesome.

Worst service ever! We have been to the Ft. Worth and North Arlington locations many times and have been pleased with the service and food quality. My wife is on their email list and received a discount for the Arlington Highlands location. It is far from us (about 40 miles) but we decided to go for lunch today and then run some errands in Arlington. We got there a little before 1pm as the lunch rush was fading. We waited for at least a full five minutes, with a toddler in our arms, before the hostess made her way to the front of the store. She was surprised we needed a high-chair, but we were seated soon after she found a table we could use the high-chair with. While we looked over the menu, we waited and waited while several waitresses and a guy in a light green button down shirt (assumed he was a manager) walked by at least three times each. We finally gave up after 12 minutes with no employee even looking at us while we were seated. As we walked out, the ditzy hostess thanked us for coming. I turned around and told her that no one ever waited on us and I received a blank stare in return. That was the first and last time we will ever visit this location. I would give zero stars if possible. I am not really sure if we will ever go to a Pirahna's again. I feel like we should be reimbursed gas money for driving there today. This experience was such a big disappointment for some previously loyal customers.

  • Karen S.

Sigh... Pirahna's holds a special place in my sushi loving heart and I credit the original green oaks location for hooking me years ago, I guess that's why I keep giving this location a try but each time has been a huge disappointment. To be a fair a few of those were before the recent renovation and one was actually DURING the renovation when our out of town guests got to enjoy paint fumes and dust with their sushi... We should have turned around at door but everyone was starving for sushi- thankfully I got everyone to cut their orders short at drinks/sushi for appetizer and headed elsewhere to finish our meal! But even post reno- the food and service was less than great and I feel foolish giving them so many tries when there are a couple other sushi places nearby that haven't let me down. Maybe it's just the cartoon fish but I feel bad even writing this review... Go try one of the other locations, I haven't been in a while but hopefully you'll have better luck!

Ah, another sushi joint that seems virtually unrecognizable from any other. You know the type: trendy decor and items on the menu like tuna towers and rolls oozing 5 different kinds of sauce. It's the same blueprint for every single one, and piranha killer sushi is the poster child for this cliché. While I understand some people may like deep fried rolls and eel sauce, spicy mayo, wasabi cream, and chili sauce soup with rolls floating somewhere in there, I don't. Now admittedly, I shouldn't even have been here to begin with since one look at the menu will tell you all you need to know, but my girlfriend and I were tired and craving sushi, so we thought we would give it a try. I mean it can't be that bad right? Honestly, it wasn't anything I didn't expect. Big rolls, subpar nigiri, and sauce everywhere you can imagine. Piranha Killer Sushi really is just another sushi place in the trend towards style over substance. But hey, people will eat that kind of thing, and I'm sure it makes plenty of money (see their numerous chains of restaurants in multiple cities). Just don't expect me to like it.

    (2)
  • Sabrina D.

Service was great, but the food was just ok. Been here a few times before and this time was disappointing. Apps were good but rolls tasted a bit stale, esp the sexy roll. Mango was hard and not sweet. Spent $94 and was barely decent. Things seemed to have gone downhill.

I gave this 1 Star, when it really deserves zero! When someone has food allergies & they have to search if the restaurant has options, they expect to receive that when dining. They had a gluten free menu with gluten free sauces. However, they do not have gluten free soy sauce and when my meal was brought out I was told the sauces on the menu were not gluten free (even though they were listed on the gluten-free menu). So I was basically given lettuce, salmon and asparagus wrapped in rice paper. It was worse than eating a salad without dressing. I even asked the waitress to bring a salad dressing out...which ended up being cooking wine. (Terrible and almost spit out my food on the spot). I told the waitress it was not her fault, but never did they ever try to offer making me something else or even taking back the food (that I clearly didn't eat). I will never be back here again. It's sad that places are trying to tailor their menus for what's a "fad" to some, when there are people that have legitimate allergies. Don't make a gluten free menu if that's not an option.

I met an old friend here for dinner last night. She was skeptical of sushi, but I looked at the reviews and felt like this would have been a good choice. It was a good choice....most of what I will say is good, but there was one thing that bothered me. So, I got there before my friend and ordered a glass of wine. Which was delicious. My server was very thorough and sweet. I scoped out the menu and my preliminary selections. My friend arrives, and gets a drink. Then it takes about 15 minutes for our server to come back to us to place our order. Meanwhile, a group of people who must have worked there as well came in as guests and sat right next to us. Our server lavished them with appetizers and drinks right away. Then she took our order. This bothered me. I understand that friends come into restaurants and even people who work there, but they should not have been served before my friend and myself. That is rude. Ok, soap dish over. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The Marry Me Roll is great. Who would have thought that strawberries and sushi would go well together. All in all a good experience...I just wish I had worked there to get some special service.

Sushi was bland. Fried rice took 15 mins..... Diet coke tasted like crap and the Martinis tasted like it was made in the toilet bowl. All the dishes were dirty also

Not too many options offered for the non-sushi patrons. I feel a sushi restaurant should still serve other options, i.e. shrimp tempura, fried rice etc. I went to accompany a friend of mine who wanted to try the restaurant. We went on a night that wasn't packed. I did like my friend's "Marry Me roll". I wish I had ordered that. I honestly do not remember what I ordered. I just remembered it had shrimp tempura in the sushi roll. I wish they offered shrimp tempura by itself. I also ordered the grilled chicken spring roll as an appetizer, and it was nothing to write home about. This place is good for an "if you are in the area and you want some sushi," but to make it a "go-to restaurant" or "trying to impress for date night" restaurant, I would pass.

  • Steve D.

I suspect this place might be entering its Death-throws. I've been here a few times and each time I ask why I came back. Progressively worse each time. Overpriced and sub-par sushi. Not fresh is the best description. Service is slow

  • Juno L.

The Blue Crab Fried Rice is the most disgusting thing I have ever eaten. I lasted four small bites before throwing in the towel. The sashimi was absolutely foul. This was not my first time to eat at Piranhas but definitely my last. It disappoints every single time. Do yourself a favor. Eat at Ninja Sushi across the freeway. It's all you can eat but the quality of the food is worlds better than this overpriced Pei Wei. The food is so garbage here. There are no words that adequately express just how awful that Blue Crab Fried Rice was. It was so bad that I was torn between laughing, praying, and vomiting.

  • John N.

Although the service can be unpredictable at times the food more than makes up for it. The modern decor makes you feel as though you may very well have left Arlington,Texas all together. Piranha's set back eat, drink, and enjoy the killer sushi.

When I came here last night, this place was undergoing remodeling so it looked a bit weird but I'd been here before the construction so that may be why. It's a very trendy looking restaurant with a drink bar to the left (when you walk in) and a sushi bar near the center. Our waitress was very nice and prompt, always making sure we were okay and had water. My friend and I had a Groupon and were pretty hungry. We were ordered the 3 rolls, smoked salmon sashimi, and salmon ceviche. The rolls were quite a bit smaller than I remembered (but that's including when I would go to their North Arlington location on Green Oaks) which made them a little pricey in my opinion. But everything was pretty tasty given some items not being in season. Salmon ceviche with jalapeno, cilantro, and mangos. Rolls: Marry Me - shrimp tempura & ginger cream topped with avocado, tuna & strawberry Volcano - charbroiled crawfish over a California roll Tri-Color Sashimi - tuna, salmon, white tuna, chives, crab, with hand peeled cucumber

My wife and I have been to this location off and on for the past several years hoping, each visit, that our luck will turn. While they may have the sushi market cornered in the Arlington Highlands, we've officially moved on. I'm not sure if management is just too proud, stubborn or dumb, but suffice it to say there is an air about this place that makes you feel as if you should feel lucky to be dining there. And unfortunately, their product is only good, however not great. A couple of key disappointments: Happy Hour ends at 6p and the HH menu/specials itself hardly leave you happy. A funny side note: at one point in the restaurant's past, our server said that they'd done away with Happy Hour citing that management "can't stand it." Cue the "stubborn". One of the other frustrations with Piranha is their overall lack of attention to detail and their inability to make you feel special. They used to provide a small, palette cleansing bowl of noodles shortly after you were seated, but that's gone away. Or perhaps we just didn't meet the profile to receive it. And in our last visit when we mentioned that we were on a rare "date night" celebrating our anniversary...crickets. As a South Arlington local, I want our retailers/restaurants to thrive. But Piranha seems to be trending in the wrong direction. Here's hoping they can turn it around.

I love the wasabi crusted salmon roll and the spider roll. The rolls are good, but overpriced. Based on food alone, this review would probably be 4 stars. Service is horrible... no I take that back. There is no service. My boyfriend and I came here for our anniversary... we were seated for 45 minutes, and we still didn't know who our server was. The table next to us had been there before us, and they didn't even get to order their drinks yet. I've never walked out of a restaurant after being seated, but we left seeing as how ridiculous the service was. Save yourself the trouble and money. Go to Sushi Domo instead. Their wasabi salmon roll and spider roll is just as good (if not better) and way cheaper too.

I took my daughter here for lunch mid week and the place is undergoing renovations; however, when I walked in the "fish" smell was overwhelming and to be honest, I almost turned around and left. I should have. When we sat at the center Sushi Bar, the refrigeration didn't appear to be working all that well so I didn't get Sashimi and stuck to cooked rolls. We ordered the Marry Me Roll, Rainbow Roll and a side of Shrimp & Veggie Tempura. We ate the Marry Me Roll with much effort. The strawberries were tart and some of the strawberry juice had soaked into the roll. The color of the strawberries were grey. This roll would probably be best as a seasonal item. The Rainbow Roll and Tempura we took one bite and left the rest. The waitress was kind enough to comp us the Rainbow Roll, but said she couldn't take the Tempura off the bill but said she tried. Our server was super nice and polite; however, I think she was the only one working there that bothered to be nice. I asked one of the other waitresses where the restroom was and she sighed like I was putting her out to give me information. When I couldn't hear her and said "what" she gave me a dirty look and pointed. The glasses were dirty and the place was a mess; however, they are going thru renovations and perhaps with new equipment, the food might be better. For me, I've found someplace else and won't be back!

I had been hesitating to come back here since I was a bit neglected in down town Forth Worth. yelp.com/biz/piranha-kil… I made sure I had a reservation and was seated promptly with my party on a Friday night. +1 for Piranha's. I was a bit hungry so we ordered a few rolls and apps. La La's Jalapeno Poppers -- 5.25 :: good but not amazing. You should pass on this. It was just cream cheese in a jalapeno with a panko breading Sashimi Appetizer 9 Pieces - Chef's Choice -- 12.95 - it was good but since you might be getting sashimi as an entree, you should forgo this and order the sashimi regularly since the pieces weren't unique, just the usual salmon, tuna, and a white fish Sesame Seared Tuna over Mild Chili, Aioli, & Wasabi Cream -- 11.95 - my favorite. :) the tuna is seared nicely and i like the wasabi cream with it. Vietnamese Summer Roll - salmon, tuna, crab, greens, mango & asparagus wrapped with rice paper -- 11.95 - Pretty tasty and LOW IN CARBS! You should ask for it with the sauce on the side since it can make the pieces a bit soggy. Dancing Eel Roll - avocado, masago & cream cheese topped with smoked eel -- 9.95 - yummy :) you can't go wrong with smoked eel On the Beach Roll - shrimp tempura & scallions topped with tuna & avocado -- 9.95 Simple roll. Marry Me Roll - shrimp tempura & ginger cream topped with avocado, tuna & strawberry -- 12.95 - always a pretty sight and a definite try for first timers Volcano Roll - charbroiled crawfish over a California roll -- 10.95 - if you like the california roll, go for it. In a nutshell, This place isn't bad. It's a normal sushi restaurant with a fun atmosphere that can accomodate a larger party. You can always alter the rolls to your liking which is good. (I'm not shrimp or crab friendly) I wouldn't go out of my way for it but I do return when it's convenient for my friends. :) The pricing is not crazy either. I like that I can leave there without a huge dent in my pocket.

We got takeout from Piranha Killer Sushi tonight and it was delicious. We ordered a salmon roll, Dr. Fran roll, rainbow roll, and a tuna crunch roll. Fran was my favorite, but they all tasted amazing and fresh. We will definitely try this restaurant again.

It was our first night at here and heard that they had" reopened" last month. We sat on the patio, so I cannot vouch for anything inside. The seats were comfy and clean as was the table. Our service was great, our waitress even demonstrated how to use the chopsticks. Food was fresh and delicious. My husband doesn't like sushi so he tried the teriyaki chicken and ate it all. I saw all the bad reviews from earlier so I'm think with their reopening, they might have made some positive changes.

I have been going to Piranhas for awhile now. I have always ordered the same thing and never had a problem. Octopus ceviche and a heartburn roll. They are both not on the menu but they usually make it with no problems. I dont know if its because of renovations, new staff, or what, but i had trouble getting my octopus ceviche (ended up not even getting) and my heartburn was not made the way it usually was and was not very good. I will try again another day and hope its as good as it used to be.. if not i guess i'll have to start looking elsewhere.

I eat sushi everywhere I can in the world. This place is awesome. Ignore the strip mall vibe. You wouldnt think there would be great sushi in arlington, texas but there is. I have found some of the best sushi in places that are located in inland cities like El Paso and Joliet, Illinois. Dont buy that stupid rule that you have to be close to the ocean to get good, fresh fish. Almost all the fish is frozen now anyway, so it really doesnt matter where you are geographically.

Nice patio. The sushi is just okay and the service is sloooooow. The selection makes up for the lackluster sushi though. The tofu stir fry is very good, the tofu is cooked perfectly. All in all a pretty good restaurant.

with Elite Yelper: Tiffany D. Come for lunch and you'll get a quiet, pleasant and isolated table. We ordered the Sashimi Bento ($12.95) and Maki Bento ($9.95). My tuna and cucumber rolls were falling apart but the california rolls were beautiful. The sushi was good but not amazing. Service was average. The server came by once to ask how we were doing after our food was served and one last time to clean up our table and give us our check.

This place was awful. It took almost 30 minutes to get our meal, and we literally were the only couple in the restaurant on a Monday night at 8 pm. My husband had to order 2 different meals because they were out of salmon and fried chicken. Finally, they had chicken teriyaki. .. wow. I ordered sashimi and sushi. I'm used to getting 2 pieces per order, but not here, YOU GET 1 PIECE. Then I ordered the spicy tuna roll because the reviews said it was awesome. ....NOT!!! THERE WAS SOME KIND OF NASTY CATSUP ON IT. . Weird! I love sushi, and I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE EVER! !! Heading to Five Guys now. ..

Very pricey, waitress spoke too fast, service was slow, nobody thought their food tasted good, in fact i got food poisoning the next morning from the sashimi. My family came to eat here only because the other sushi places were closed on sunday. Never going there again.

First let me say the waitress was very nice and attentive. The overall service was great however the food was not good at all. We ordered 2 rolls (and about 1/2 the rolls are a different combination of the same ingredients). The rolls tasted stale. The rice was hard and the crawfish and crab used were cold-obviously far from fresh and probably days old as they also had that refrigerator taste. I tried very hard to eat them but just couldn't. The place is nice but the rolls were awful. My favorite place for good rolls is Deep Sushi in Dallas and this was far from Deep Sushi.

I would post 5 stars but the Arlington location staff is no fun and they close early when things r slow even on a weekend. Even though it's just down the way from us we always drive to their other location in Arlington. Awesome indoor/outdoor bar, much smaller venue and the staff rocks!

I used to love coming to Piranha's. Until I received my bank statement. I ordered two drinks for $18 and I left a generous tip. Apparently the waitress didn't think that was good enough so she added a $15 tip instead. Giving me a $33 tab for two drinks. Um, I think not. Watch your statements. These people are dishonest. **update** I called the manager and she worked with me on getting this situation fixed. She was very nice about the whole ordeal and assures that this will be corrected.

I love sushi, but this place really isn't one of my favorites..and I eat sushi at least 3-4 times a month! Not fond of the volcano roll at all, which I order at all my sushi restaurants. But their salmon ceviche is a good choice. Other than that, most their dishes are average. I don't really recommend this place...

The food was better than the service. We made reservations and got there a few minutes early, but still had to wait 20 minutes to be seated -- AFTER several other parties came in without reservations. When we did get seated, they gave us the dark corner and a table side view of... the parking lot. Had to use the flashlight on my cell phone to see what I was eating. The waitress would disappear for 15 minutes or more (no one in our section was getting served) and the food took much longer than it should have to arrive. (The place was only half-full.) Most of the food was good and a specialty roll we ordered was so outstanding, we ordered it again! But the service and general laziness of the staff turned me off. We've found a way to make what we liked best about this place at home, so no need to waste the money!

It's been a couple of years since I've been a "regular" at Piranha, but my friends and I were definitely a fixture in their booths for over a year. I'm kind of an expert ;-) so here are my favs: Drinks: Sake-Bomb, with Kirin Light (accept no substitutes). Pour 1.5 - 2 inches of beer into your glass and measure the sake with the little cup. Combine, clink, and consume upon delivery of bottles. The hot and cold create an incredibly smooth concoction. Appetizer: Salmon Ceviche Rolls: Spider Roll, Dragon Roll, Volcano Roll, and the new-to-me Lotus Roll. Herein lies the 1-star deduction: The quality and assembly of the rolls are often dependent on the sushi chef. Entree: Chicken Pad Thai, Korean Beef Tenderloins Dessert: More Sake-Bombs! Cheers!

Pirahna struck me as pretty average across the board. I like the mascot more than the food. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't that interesting flavorwise. We tried three rolls, the lobster roll, the volcano roll and a third which I can't remember the name of but that had eel in it. The volcano roll is something I like to try at every restaurant that has one. Pirahna's was bland. The cooked crawfish on top of the california roll was dry and lukewarm - not in a creamy tasty sauce as I would normally expect from this roll. The lobster roll was the best of the three, it had a spicy sauce that gave it a little punch. The eel roll wasn't bad but needed more eel sauce to give it flavor because it was bland like the volcano roll. Maybe we made poor choices but honestly there wasn't anything there that was so good that would make us want to go back. Sushi is a pricey enough product that if I'm going to spend the money, I don't want mediocre.

I have to say that I have never been to a sushi restaurant like this. It is the best sushi joint I have ever been to, and I'm a sushi snob. The soy sauce is gluten free... yes the only soy sauce they serve is gluten free. It is low sodium too. They have rolls that are not loaded with tons of rice, infact they have quiet a few rolls with tons of vegetables and no mayo, cream cheese or other junk fillers that makes anything taste good. I suggest the Vietnamese Summer Roll or the Veggie Roll, or the Wasabi crusted happy hour roll, or the Cucumber wrapped happy hour roll, and the unfiltered sake served cold is out of this world. The experience, along with the ambience is above average. The quality of the food is absolute top notch, make this a MUST GO! I will be back later this week, without a doubt.

Hit this place up one night. At the time I was really just looking to get the cheapest thing that could be tasty. So I got the only deepfried looking (rolled in panko and deepfried) sushi thing they had on the menu (hoping it'd be close to like a vegas roll of some sort) they had, and I think it was just under 11$ or so. It was underwhelming, and a pretty small portion as well.. good thing a friend was full off their pad thai.. which I tried, and liked, even though it had seafood in it.. (I normally don't like seafood really), the pad thai had thick soba noodles, and was pretty nice, and had a good spice zing to it. Overall.. I probably wouldn't make the drive out here again unless it was to meet up some friends. I'd proabbly give it like a 2.7 rating, for overpriced pad thai (was like 18$) and small portions/not that great sushi quality imo. Waitress was super cute though. +++

Here's my overall scoring of Piranha's: Service: 2 stars Decor: 2.5 stars Atmosphere: 3 stars Food: 3.5 stars I stopped by Piranha's after the lunch rush mainly because it was on my way to my final destination to Ft. Worth and because I had a restaurants.com gift card for $25 off. I waited patiently at the entrance to be seated but after a good full minute and a half, the large chick fil a sweet tea I had on the drive here was starting to kick in. We finally got seated and I headed towards the bathroom which is near the open kitchen. I came back to our table only to find this location stopped accepting the restaurants.com gift cards, BOO. We were starving so we ordered anyway. The crab cakes served as our appetizer and we had the volcano, Vietnamese summer, spicy tuna and eel rolls as our main entree. For what your paying, your not getting very much in quantity but the taste was all there. Our two crab cakes ($9.95) were very rich inside and had just enough crisp outside but there wasn't very much sauce on our plate to work with. Out of all the rolls we ordered my favorite was the Vietnamese summer roll ($11.95) for both presentation and taste. This had a little bit of everything: tuna, crab, salmon, mango, asparagus and greens wrapped in rice paper and cut into pieces over a spicy dipping sauce. The volcano roll ($10.95) here is a bit different, there was a hint of barbecue sauce in the craw fish which threw me off at first but I ended up really liking it. The other rolls were much smaller and just OK. They were definitely lacking the wow factor. Our waiter was missing most of the time and didn't write down our order so he ended up coming back to ask again. There were also a few gnats flying here and there which was pretty annoying and the the furniture had chips and tares. Our tab ended up being $58 with tip and tax which was a bit overpriced in my book.

I like this restaurant. The service from my waitress was great. The food was fresh and tasty. I left a 4 star review because my order was messed up slightly. I ordered 2 rolls, one was special order and the other was from the menu. The special order was missing the cucumber and the cucumber makes this roll. I'm sure they would have remedied if I brought it to their attention but it was packed. It was just too loud and I was starving!

The Marry Me Roll = awesomenessly goodness! I like to make up my own words & phrases. We went after an event and there were about 10 of us or so. We sat in the bar area so we could be loud & rowdy and it wouldn't bother anyone. The service was spot on & fast. If you ever get the chance to try Piranha...make sure you order the Marry Me Roll. The Spicy Tuna Roll is pretty awesome too! In the group someone ordered the Sushi and Sashimi Dinner and I must say it did look amazing...I will try it next time I go...which I hope is sooner rather than later.

Although service here is a hit or miss. You must try the wasabi crusted salmon roll. It has a really good kick to it. I think its the only kind I've ordered here so far! Although they are kind of on the pricey side but then again what nice sushi place isn't?

Typical americanized sushi restaurant Food is okay, lots of eclectic rolls, with the basic nigiri selection. It seems like the restaurant is more focused on ambiance and decor so much so that the food suffers a bit. Ordered the chirashi-zushi. Served on a tile instead of a bowl, so it looked nice, but the rice was not sushi rice, instead it was just plain rice and the lack of a bowl made it difficult to mix a wasabi and soy with the rice. I think this place is good for late night drinks with appetizers, but not so good for japanese food or sushi.

Very fresh and delicious sushi, but dangg those prices kill me. The tempura vegetables were crispy with a light tempura battering and a delicious dipping sauce. I usually see tempura vegetables with a thick layer of battering, but this was done just perfectly. There were many rolls to choose from, but I settled for the Forget About It roll. Apparently they "forgot about" the craw fish that was supposed to be on it, but it was still good nonetheless. I want to return again to try the other rolls, but on a college student's budget, I won't be able to afford going there often.

Their sushi is not that good anymore from what I remember...I used to eat here a lot when I was getting my undergrad at UTA when they had only one location open (Green oaks). I came back for lunch yesterday because I was craving it and got what I always ordered...sashimi roll, sashimi salad, and marry me roll. Sashimi salad was still delicious but the sashimi roll was smaller...the marry me roll was way too sweet this time. They put too much of the green sauce on top. I was a little disappointed with one of my rolls so if I come back next time, I wont order the marry me roll.

More like 2.5 STARS Piranha [wallet] Killer Sushi. I didn't really plan on ever coming back here, but I had received a $20 gift certificate and was craving sushi. So i dragged my sister out for some lunch with me. We ordered their tempura tofu (agadashi tofu), volcano roll, dragon roll, 1 piece of: hamachi (yellowtail), tuna, white tuna & albacore. Total $40. The sauce dip that accompanied the tempura tofu tasted great. So good, I wish they served it with a soup spoon so I can scoop the dip with my tofu and drink it! Both rolls were SMALL. $10 each was definitely overpriced. The best sashimi piece in the 4 I had was WHITE TUNA- very smooth and nice texture. The WORST was TUNA- poorly cut, the one piece looked like smaller blocks pieced together to form one big piece and it didn't look fresh. I've definitely had WAY BETTER sushi from elsewhere that was actually worth the money. Not here. I told other people I went to lunch at Piranha, and they all said the same thing to me, 'oh, that place is OK. It's definitely overpriced, and there's other better sushi around town." For Arlington, my top pics for NIGIRI would be SushiDomo & for rolls I would go to Cafe Hana.

DRY, DRY, & DRY "CHICKEN TERIYAKI" I ordered salmon this MORNING & they ran out of it already, so i got chicken instead & it was super dry, the veggies were salty, & on top of that, I charged for a dinner portion...eeerrr ***HOW CAN U RUN OUT OF SALMON WHEN YOU ARE A SUSHI RESTAURANT!!!!!!!!!!!

Good sushi. I have learned a lot about sushi and it all starts with the fish. There are different grades of fish. Even though I love Piranha's, they do not order the highest grades of fish. It's sushi grade, but lower class. They do have remarkable sauces and toppings which mask the lower quality fish. Don't get me wrong, their fish is still better than most places! If you like sauces, you can't go wrong. Drinks - awesome, good martini creations. They have some dessert martini's that are amazing (and strong). They also have some good drinks to pair with the food. Atmosphere is nice. It can be a good place for a date, sometimes a bit noisy. Staff, great waiters and waitresses, great sushi chefs. Great bartenders. Pricing, ok, sushi always costs money. Overall some of the best sushi around without having to go to Dallas.

This place never disappoints . A friend and I were in the look for a late night bite . We arrived around 10 pm , the hostess informed us that the sushi bar was the only available seating . We didn't care since it was such a last minute decision . The hostess wasn't very friendly , but our waitress heather made it up with her upbeat attitude . She suggested the dumplings , which were pretty amazing . We order our usual Mary me roll and sexy roll . We asked for dessert suggestion , in which she raved how good the tempura cheesecake was . We loved it ! Heather was amazing , we made sure her professionalism was recognized by the manager .

This is my second time. My first time was a long time ago and it didn't impress me much so that's why I didn't remember much. This time I had a groupon so I decided to give it a second try. We had Crawfish Beignet for appertizer and it was great. Then we had Lobster roll, Forget about it (I don't like red powder they put on it, it tasted like crawfish powder), and an Eel sushi (1 piece for $2.5). I was disappointed with the rolls. They could do it better and more creative with that high prices. The red sauce tasted like ketchup to me. I'd prefer the Sushi Cafe on Cooper, the taste fit me better.

The food is great. Great. The seared Ahi Tuna is one of my favorite dishes anywhere. And I love the sashimi bento box for lunch. I have visited the Downtown Fort Worth location and both Arlington ones. I have to say the original North Arlington location is still my favorite. We have been going there for years. I was excited when other locations opened that were closer to where I live and work. We visit the Highlands location for dinner dates and get togethers with our friends because our kids prefer going to KidsPark (child care right next door!) rather than a sitter so it is the most convenient. I have to say that, the Highlands Piranha could work to improve it's service. The decor is fun and the food excellent as always, but the service is rushed and unfriendly. A place that small should feel more more intimate, I think.

Based on my single visit, Piranha seems to be a go-to date spot in Arlington. My friend and I sat in the bar area, and everybody else who sat near us appeared to be a couple. It's easy to see why. Piranha has an upscale, romantic ambience, with low lights. My friend knew the waiter, so I don't know if he's super friendly with everybody, but he seemed to be just as friendly with all of his other tables. It was a weeknight with inclement weather, but the place was warm, bustling and busy. I won't pretend to be an expert on sushi or know the difference between "Americanized" and authentic sushi. However, I have eaten at about ten different sushi places in DFW, and to my palate, Piranha ranks easily in the top three for flavor. They offer a number of tantalizing rolls. My friend and I started with a sesame seared tuna appetizer, which was on special that night and tasted excellent. We also enjoyed martinis that were on special. Mine was either a wedding cake or birthday cake martini, I forget which, but it was exactly what I expected: sweet, tasty, with plenty of booze but little alcohol flavor. I had a pleasant buzz after one, but I had to get another. We ordered three rolls: the rainbow roll, the Dr. Fran roll (shrimp tempura, eel, cream cheese, masago & scallions topped with tuna & avocado), and the sexy roll (shrimp tempura, ginger cream & cilantro topped with avocado, crawfish & mango). Each roll was complex and flavorful. Everything tasted excellent. And the rolls were MASSIVE! My friend and I usually order three rolls and a side at other sushi places and have no problem finishing, but I was completely stuffed when we got done eating. I had two tiny issues with Piranha. Their beer choices were kind of limited, but they had plenty of great martinis and some interesting wine choices. The tables were kind of small and close together too. If somebody had been seated at the table next to ours, I would have felt uncomfortable. If 4.5 stars was an option, that's what I'd give them. But I'd rather round up than down, so it's five stars and a strong recommendation. If you're worried about the prices, remember the rolls are big and order one less than you'd usually get. You'll get plenty of bang for your buck.

This used to be my go to sushi spot.... I haven't been inside in quite some time, I was placing to go orders, and today the hubs and I decided to go in bc we had a free appetizer coupon. I was kinda excited since we haven't actually sat inside for awhile. What a disappointment. There was no one to greet us when we walked in. I had to walk into the restaurant so the hostess would notice us. It smelled. Not like rotten fish, but there was definately an odor. And it was humid. So humid that the fresh fish case on the sushi bar was fogging. The hubs is an hvac guy, so he was a little concerned about the humidity and the raw fish...so he asked them to turn up the ac. The humidity cleared some and we decided to play it a little safer by ordering cooked sushi items. After we ordered, I looked around the place. They have definately let their standards slide. It was filthy. There was dirt on the walls, the bench seat cushions were ripped and there were left over food items on the floor. This is just sad and disgraceful and makes me a little scared that I will be sick later...what has happened to you Piranha? For our free appetizer we ordered crab cakes with mango pineapple salsa. Save your money, they have to be frozen and shipped in. The sushi was pretty much the same, its good, not great. But you have probably lost a pretty loyal customer, Piranha. Get your act together.

Went to Piranhas yesterday around happy hour the service was great however Like many sushi places I have noticed the rolls now contain more rice and less fish or whatever is ordered inside. I ordered the marry me roll and the lobster roll. In both rolls the fish was very fresh and the blend of textures and colors provided a nice melody. Customer service has really improved and there was a nice little crowd starting to build when I left around 6:30. A little pricey but I will definitely go back once or twice month or so.

I went on a spare Monday night. Place was pretty dead. Service was decent except the waiter neglected our drink refills a little. Philadelphia roll was great. Salmon sashimi was below par. Adequate sushi, but I thought sushi yaa was a much better value without much quality drop off, and will go there for Arlington sushi in the future.

Recently met my lady at Piranha. Her choice. I have probably driven past this location 100 times since it has opened. It is at the back of the highlands so a little hard to notice. Parking was a beast even with splittsville being closed. Wine list was kind of slim in the reds. The bartenders were really attentive and made great conversation while taking care of guests. We ordered three sashimi dishes. All came out in good time and were really tasty. However, we had to ask for wasabi and ginger. Waitress was ok but didn't check on us to often and it was hard to get her attention. Definitely on my list of Sushi places on the south side.

Ah, the greatness of Piranha Killer Sushi. I love this place. The food has been outstanding each and every time and service is top notch. My recommendations are the Salmon Ceviche, Seared Ahi Tuna and any number of the excellent rolls. Your mouth will thank you ;) I've been to several of what I'd call "fancy" sushi places around and Piranha's is tops. Highly recommended!

It never fails. Every time I go into a place that has an empty house except for one other table, the host wants to sit us RIGHT NEXT to the other table. It also works vice versa ( if we are the only table they will sit someone next to us). I don't get it. Waitress was ready to take our order the second we sat down and barely had time to open our menus. I hate that. I have to say my adult bev was good. My salad was good. Sushi was good although their selection is odd and expensive. The shrimp they use for the tempura is small. They do not have spicy tuna and a server I spoke with had never heard of it. Seriously? This place tries so hard to be different and that's great but there is always room to include classics as well. The reason I even returned here was because I was sent a gift certificate after i gave this place a bad review before. When it came time to use it the waitress went and got the manager who had me show her the email on my phone that contained the original gift certificate. HOW EMBARASSING. Will not return.
