A friend of mine is the new director of the Cannon County Arts Center, and the center has recently rented out the restaurant space to a mother and son team who prepare the food at this quaint place in the Center. Set up as a cafeteria style business, the menu changes by the day and everything is made in house. This home style menu typically will feature three protein selections, 3-4 hot side dishes and 3 cold side dishes as well. The best deal on the menu is a protein with three sides and iced tea for $9. I enjoyed a catfish fillet with hush puppies, creamed corn, braised greens and cole slaw for a serious meal. Wow! It was delicious. They always keep the coleslaw on hand, it contains apples and raisins for an interesting twist. There are special little things that make the place great, from the jalapeno tartar sauce to the house made bottled hot sauces. Aaron recommended we try his orange chocolate hot sauce on the fish and I was blown away. The sauces are so delicious and unusual, the local Whole Foods markets have contracted to sell them at retail. He also uses Short Mountain Shine in a couple of the sauces and in the desserts, so they've taken the farm to table trend very seriously here. Chef Aaron mentioned that he always includes vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options on his menu, so you can be sure that your dietary concerns will be accommodated. They also have house made cookies and a salad bar. There are two sandwich staples in Tennessee: pimento cheese spread and chicken salad. The stuff is so popular here, you can buy it buy the pound to take home. Aaron let me sample the pimento spread and I loved it. We also tried a couple of the desserts including a chocolate chip bread pudding and a coconut spiced cake, both made with local moonshine. Aaron also mentioned that they have 'Experimental Thursdays' with unusual and foreign options on the menu. He's tried middle eastern, Thai, and a special menu which included favorite childhood memories foods. It's quite a surprise for this place right on the edge of Woodbury, Tennessee. If you're near Murfreesburo, this will be definitely worth the drive. Real food at great prices with amazing options.

Home cooking, steam table service. You basically have three options and a couple of sides. It's strictly down home Tennessee cooking. Friendly, nice folks. Admirable that the restaurant is located within the Cannon County Art Center, about 40 minutes due east of Murfreesboro, where the local theater is also located. If you're into amateur theater, this will be your place. Keep your expectations moderate and you'll have a good time. This is strictly home grown, but the facility is quite nice.

What a jewel for Woodbury. It's Southern with a Pop of surprise. I thoroughly enjoyed my food. The green beans were fantastic. I also enjoyed the Beef Zuccini. Definitely worth the drive. I don't think the decor matches the quality of the food. Don't judge it by just looking at the outside. Go inside and smell and savor the flavors. It is worth it. I hope The Lord blesses this business. Definitely will return to taste more of the flavor they have to offer.

Stopped for lunch while I was running an errand in Woodbury. Located next to the Arts Center on the west side of town, the Blue Porch has been in business for about 6 months and is doing extremely well. Breakfast and lunch are served daily. I would call it a meat n three with a modern twist. The meat choices were all favorites of mine. Meatloaf. Italian sausage. Catfish. The Italian sausage was bought locally and made from locally-grown hogs. The veggie choices were carrots, greens, spaghetti salad, cole slaw, beans and a couple more choices. All of the veggies are vegan. The food was satisfying and delicious. The greens, in particular, stand out because of their savory and spicy taste which I enjoyed though I am not a vegan (I'm a carnivore!). Bravo to the owners for putting their forward-thinking country hats on and having a restaurant that introduces some of the newer food trends yet still remembers its country roots.

Big fan of the blue porch. The owners are extremely nice people and the service is good. Food is always fresh and taste good. Portions are pretty good. They update their Facebook page daily with the menu for that day. Desserts are always delicious.

Restaurant is adorable, everyone is so nice. The baked chicken was moist and flavorful! Also loved the potato salad. I'm glad I took out the extra time to have dinner there with my five year old niece before the Beauty and the Beast play last night!
