I travel for work and cover 5 states in the southeast. It's always hard to find good food in rural areas, but this place is a gem! VERY clean, friendly staff, and delicious food with prompt service. Will coming back for sure!!

We've been coming here for a few years now and just love it. I've never had a dish I didn't like. This visit I tried their special which was a chicken breast with a steak and shrimp with a nice cream sauce served with rice and beans. A very delicious meal at a great price!! I also like the carnitas they're spiced very well. Service is also very attentive and spot on. Definitely should give these guys a try.

Great Mexican.... What can I say? We had a huge delightful meal with friends for a reasonable chunk of cash... I would go back.

Good service and great food! Careful how you order. One order is enormous go for two.

Enjoyed a late dinner. Service was good and we enjoyed our meals. We started with the complimentary salsa with a nice amount of spices and cilantro served with fresh tortilla chips. I mention they were fresh because at an hour before closing time, some places serve lesser quality items, but these were nice and crisp. I ordered the carnitas, which were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. A finely diced pico and slices of avocado accompanied the flavorful pork along with rice and beans. My husband really enjoyed his Carne Verde, grilled strips of steak covered in a spicy green tomatillo sauce served with tortillas and what he said were "really good" refried beans and rice. My nice big glass of sweet tea was refilled before it was empty and his XX was cold. The mister said it was definitely a "do again" place. The only negatives were that he wanted draft and the waiter explained it wasn't cooling well and recommended bottles. Not a big deal and definitely did not ruin a really delicious meal.

Best Mexican restaurant in this area. I've eaten there so many times. The place is clean and the staff is so friendly. If you're in the area, definitely stop by!

Authentic, huge menu, friendly service. Great value. Hey-try the Molcajte! Cock full of beef, chicken, shrimp, veggies, cheese served in a sizzling lava bowl. Spoon this yummy mix into your voice of corm or flour tortillas.

Went here for lunch while visiting a friend and looking at prospective homes in the area. I had the Burrito San Jose which had pork and steak inside with chorizo crumbled on top (Chorizo? yes please!) and it was really yummy and the price was great. Service was pretty quick and the chips and salsa were tasty. I'd definitely like to try more of their food.

This is easily the best Mexican I've found in a LONG time. Very comparable to El Ranchito in Albemarle, NC. Excellent!!

since leaving California I had been searching for somewhere that has great carne asada. I definitely found it here of all places in vonore! Tucked in a small shopping plaza this place is a true gem. I love the bright decor and paintings they have throughout. I had a carne asada burrito with a white cheese sauce that was AWESOME! I will definitely go back to try more off the menu. Also $6 pitchers after 5 so yeah that's just icing on the cake!

This restaurant is tucked away in a strip mall on the side of the road in Vonore. The place is colorfully decorated inside -- clearly the owners put a lot of money and time into it. It's clean, neat, and the staff is friendly. A word of note: As of this review, this restaurant does not have its liquor license yet, so all they have is beer. They have applied for the license but it will take time. In the meanwhile, you can bring your own wine, tequila, or whatever and they will do all the rest for you. This is in accordance with local laws, so you won't be doing anything illegal. The food is very fresh, tasty and seasoned just right. Nothing is overspiced, so the flavors of the shredded chicken and other ingredients are well-represented. I tasted fresh green chiles in my quesadilla, and the excellent guacamole is clearly homemade. Portions are generous, especially for the price. My companion and I had an entree each and a fountain drink for under $20, tax included. The only thing I'd like to see different is more pork on the menu. There are only 2 carnitas dishes, and pork is not offered as an option for most of the dishes where you choose the meat. Not sure of the reason for this, but carnitas should feature prominently on any Mexican restaurant's menu. There are both lunch and dinner combo plates available, and lots of appetizer options, so this would be a good place to have a cheap lunch and/or nosh while drinking beer. There are kid-friendly choices on the menu. Overall, delicious food on a big menu with lots of options.

Good little Mexican joint. The local hotel I stayed in suggested the place and I wasn't disappointed. I had the chimichanga plate with one chicken and one steak tips. The pollo one was better. The plate was so huge (for only $8.50) that I couldn't finish it. Service was great too. My only complaint was with the over the top decor, just a bit too much.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
