I've had the cupcakes here a couple times. I've tried the "plain Jane" & the salted caramel cupcake. Both I thought were pretty good. I liked these cupcakes because the amount of icing isn't insane like some places do (Gigi's). The selection isn't as huge as other places, but you can't beat the $2.49 price point. They've also day old cupcakes that are only $1.49. I had one before & I couldn't tell that it was day old at all. It was still moist & fresh tasting.

I'm giving two stars simply because I've had cake from her that was delicious. I met the owner at the big fake wedding. It was a bridal show case. She did the wedding cake and the cake at the event was so delicious that I made an appointment to do a tasting with her. I made the appointment because the cake was good, she was friendly, and smiley, and someone that I wanted to do business with. However, during the tasting she opened late. And we were rushed. She was not very friendly. And the cake was nowhere near as good as the wedding cake. Most of them were way too dry and crumbly. They were obviously old. My bridal party was not impressed at all. The only cake that got somewhat decent reviews was the strawberry, so I opted not to contract with her because that showed inconsistency. I really wish that her cake and personality were as good during the tasting as they were doing the bridal show case. No one believed me when I told them how amazing the wedding cake was that I sampled. For shame.

This review is based on me NOT visiting the location, so I can't speak to the quality of the store itself or the staff. I've been looking for a good cupcake place ever since I moved down here from Illinois (I was previously spoiled by an excellent place up there). My boyfriend picked up a few of these for me to try out and see how I liked them. There were four that he chose: red velvet, strawberry cream, chocolate ganache, and cookies and cream (couldn't find this one on their website, but you can see it in the picture). The frosting had a really good flavor, although a touch too sweet for me. I know, it's a cupcake and supposed to be sweet, but my teeth kind of hurt afterward (not necessarily in a bad way). A lot of other people complain that the cake is too dry, but I didn't have that problem at all. They all were very moist, even though they were purchased later in the afternoon. My favorite out of those was definitely the strawberry cream, I loved the strawberry jelly (or maybe jam) that was on the inside, it gave it a little extra moisture too. I only devoured the chocolate ganache and strawberry cream, while my brother ate the other two and he definitely had no complaints. I would definitely give this place a try again (especially considering that I see they have salted caramel), and I'm still on the prowl for the best cupcake in Nashville!

Walked into this place to check it out after having lunch a couple of doors down. The owner is very friendly. Her cupcakes look delicious. I got the Southern Lady, Birthday Cake and Caramel something. The cupcakes were very moist and soft. There was a good amount of frosting on each cupcake. The Southern Lady had cream cheese frosting on it that was delicious. The birthday cake has colored sprinkles on it and the caramel one had some caramel drizzle over the frosting. I stopped by on a Tuesday which is $2 Tuesday. Each cupcake is only $2!!! We will definitely be back.

I ordered wedding cake and chocolate cupcakes for my mom's birthday party yesterday and they were delicious! She loved them! The chocolate is my favorite so far. The frostings are so smooth and creamy and the cakes are moist. The wedding was not as moist as the chocolate, but still very good. Another great one is the salted caramel. I'll be visiting them again soon!

The icing tasted great, the cake however was a little too dry - this day, the cupcakes were either over baked or too old or not stored properly? I bought a dozen for my office for around $32. We all had the same complaint on the cake being too dry in this batch. I tried this place a time ago before my Yelping days and don't remember anything bad about the cupcakes back then. This time, I felt it could have been better. There was a fruit fly buzzing around and it landed on one of my cupcakes while the staff was assembling my box, I pretended not to notice and watched to see if Lil Cakes would replace it, nope! SOLD!!!! To me to bring to my office mates with fruit fly footprints all over the icing, yum! I mean, it's hard to keep out fruit flies but I don't like to pay for food that's been contaminated with the legs of a fly. Lil Cakes just waved a hand to get the fly away. Im no cake expert but I know what I like - Lil Cakes has potential & can certainly make improvements.

Three strikes, you're out! I try to give every establishment three tries to lose my business. Anyone can have a bad day, and even coincidentally have one the two times I go there, but a third is evidence of consistent failure. Yes, the cakes are dry, generally pretty tasteless, there isn't much icing and there are no "plusses" (like other cupcake shops add, such as candy chunks to denote caramel, etc.). Their generic and unimpressive cupcakes had been my experience the two times I had gone before, but I decided to give them one more try. I ordered a "wedding cake" cupcake, stupidly expecting white cake and delicious white buttercream, and what I got was cinnamon. I don't think they're adding cinnamon to their icing, but I DO think they're sloppy with their cleaning and storage. There's no excuse for it. Anyone with even basic baking knowledge knows cinnamon will bleed over into other baked goods. Add to this the price tag and shockingly mediocre goods (how do you mess up simple cupcakes other than just sheer laziness??) and I'm out. I think what makes it so bad is they are really good at marketing the cupcakes. They LOOK delicious, and when you pay what they charge for them and you bite into, it's just such a disappointment.

We just moved her from San Diego. There were so many cupcake options there and the standards were set pretty high. So upon moving here I set out to find the best Cupcakery in the area. I am very pleased to say that this is my favorite one!! We have tried a few others, finding dissapoinment in each place. From an over abundance of frosting to dry cakes, I felt like finding the perfect place was out of reach. Until I found Lil Cakes. Their cupcakes are absolutely delicious. Just the right amount of frosting, moist cakes, and delicious flavors; As well as amazing customer service!! Our first visit will definately not be our last!!

These are the best cupcakes in Nashville! You can tell they use fresh ingredients - and icing isn't too sweet. The flavors are all fantastic - my favorites are wedding cake and tiramisu. Don't know why YELP is saying they are closed on sat / sun - they're open, we were just there! Skip the other cupcakes, these are the best in town!

Lorie and Ed are a pleasantly plump couple whose cupcake goal is to "keep Smyrna sweet." They lack mini-cupcakes that some other cupcakeries offer. But since they skip overdoing iceing, their big ones are still plausibly waistline tolerable. The Sadler's shop is just two doors down from Berry Bear, so it's an easy skip to combine the coolness of frozen yogurt with warm Lil cakes. It's fun to nibble their Whoopie Pie.

I love these cupcakes! I've tried many cupcakes since moving here in February and these are among my favorites. The cupcakes aren't oversized, which makes me feel slightly less guilty about eating them. They are always moist and tasty. I admit I'm rather boring and usually go for the wedding cake, but I've also had the strawberry and the lemon and both were equally as good.

Went to the Lil Cakes store today to get myself and the grandkids some cupcakes and much to my surprise they wasn't worth the price of them nor worth eating either..My grandchildren wouldn't even eat them. The icing tasted like store bought icing and the cake itself was hard and seemed like it had been sitting for 2-3 days. I really expected more than what I got from the nice little cute store that I pulled into today..
