This is my sons favorite restaurant . Everytime I come to visit him he insists we eat here and I've never been disappointed. I had the shrimp fajitas on out last visit . usually as a rule i won't eat shrimp unless Im 100 miles from the ocean or closer . I very glad I made the exception . I live on the west coast and the shrimp here was up to par . my sons favorite dish is the pollo loco and there was enough for him to make two meals out of it . The portions here are huge and the prices aren't high at all . If you like Mexican food and find yourself in smyrna definitely make it a point to stop here ...

Good atmosphere. Good food. The chicken fajitas are my favorite. Our waiter was attentive by visiting our table frequently. We never ran out of water or chips and salsa. Our order was taken quickly. Food was brought to the table in a timely manner. Good solid lunch. Good place to go after a round of golf. I will visit again.

I have said before, and will say it again. If yu have not tasted the Peruvian dishes here, yu need to go back. Simply awesome. And now they are available all week long.

We stopped here more or less by accident and when I saw the Peruvian menu, I had to order from that. I had the Arroz chaufa with beef. The best fried rice ever. And yes, it's very authentic to Peru - they had huge communities of Asians there dating all the way back to the early 1700s and there are over 9,000 Asian restaurants in Lima, Peru alone. The portion was large and the amount of steak in this so much more than you would ever get in a Chinese restaurant plus it wasn't paper thin or tough. It was so good that withing about a week I drove down to Smyrna by myself to eat. This time I got Lomo Saltado and then got an order of each - chicken and beef arroz chaufa.

Decent service and drinks...but could have made better Mexican at home. Burrito came out in what seemed like marinara sauce and covered in mozzarella....Mexican?

There's a reason I've been coming here for ten years. My recommendation? Try it out. Maybe a decade from now you'll write your own Yelp review about how friendly the people are, how perfect the environment is, and how well priced the food can be. Cheers!

My wife and I just got back from this restaurant - It earned itself a review. Not a negative or positive.....just different. So here it goes - When we entered, the decor was nice albeit dated. We we promptly seated by the young man at the front. The aroma smells like almost any Mexican restaurant - nothing offensive. After we sat, and our server had come to take our drink order then delivered it, I had to get my own silverware set from an adjacent table. Shortly after that, our first order - guacamole - arrived. Now, I don't pretend to be a foodie or anything close to a connoisseur, but I must say the guacamole missed the mark. It was about 4oz, in a ramekin. It consisted of an avocado, and a very small amount of cilantro and onions. There flavor from the cilantro was nil and I think I found two pieces of the onion - also flavorless. Overall, the guacamole leaves much to be desired. There was no seasoning, lime, tomatoes, or even a traditional dish. The salsa was a disaster. Pace Picante tastes better. It was very similar to ketchup. It was a tomato paste with a little bit of onion and a smaller amount of cilantro. The reconstituted tomato paste flavor overtook all the other meager ingredients. Luckily there was dirty hot sauce bottles on the table so we could try to make it acceptable to our not so refined pallets. There was also no spice to it. I'm very serious when I say it was tomato paste. Then our meals were served! We were hoping against hope that our entrees would be good. My wife had a puzzled look on her face when she looked at her entree. The chicken enchilada of the combo A was a corn tortilla burrito about 1" wide and 5" long. While this is an acceptable size for somethings, it is unacceptable for a enchilada. The flour hard shell of the shrimp taco was decent - once some of the mound of cheese was removed. The flavor of both were described as "meh, it wasn't like, delicious or anything". The beans and rice on the side were mostly cheese. Speaking of which there was a lot of cheese on the plate. It glues everything on the plate down. While I love cheese, and I mean love, this wasn't the good cheese. It was "Cheese Food". Similar to what I used to eat in the military and wouldn't melt in the sun or microwave. My dinner was in the same ball park. My Burrito California (I've eaten A LOT of burritos in CA when I was stationed there) was not what they make there. In the picture on the menu, it had trimmings and cilantro on the top. The burrito I got was a long burrito with the steak falling out of both ends and just a pile of white sauce filling the plate - very boring. I was at least hoping the burrito would be packed with meat and tasty. The flavor was OK. I've had better on deployments. But what was a shocker was the amount of meat! There were 6 strips!!! Each of which was .5" x 2". While this might seem decent, the three strips coming out of the front and the back was all of the meat! The middle of the entire burrito was completely empty of meat! The lettuce was old and tasted like freezer burn and the vegetarian middle was just OK. Surprisingly, the prices were still on the average highish side of a Mexican restaurant - $8.50 for my blah burrito, $7.75 for my wife's tiny meal, and the tiny baby guac was $4 - all before tax. Overall, this place hit the mark, but it wasn't the mark they were hoping for I'm sure. Instead it was the mark on the list of DO NOT GO BACK TO. So, my wife and I will be off in search of a better Mexican restaurant. Do not go to this place unless you're expecting less then you were hoping for. - on the plus side, the waitress was friendly and a good waitress.

The atmosphere was dark and very cramped. The wife and I went with another couple and got stuck in a booth. Each side of the booth was barely big enough for 2 people, felt like I was crammed in there (and we are average size people). The white queso was pretty good and the beer was priced well... That was about all it had going for it.. The wife had the fajitas, which were just ok. I had the enchiladas and wasn't impressed, the chicken wasn't all that great and the rest was nothing to write home about. We will try a couple other mexican places before returning here..

My favorite Mexican restaurant! I believe that the Smyrna and Murfreesboro chains are owned by the same people, but this particular location is the best. Their food is always amazing, and I absolutely love them!

We've marked La Siesta as a go to place for large group meals in Smyrna. So far they are the only restaurant that always gets the orders and tabs correct, and gets us in and out in a very reasonable amount of time. There's always an order for the queso fundido, which is delicious and well portioned to share amongst a group of four as an appetizer. The guacamole is tasty and not too bland. I recently had the shrimp quesadilla and a side of rice for lunch. The quesadilla was a a flaky yet soft tortilla well stuffed with lots of big shrimp, chunky veggies and generous cheese. There was no skimping on the fillings, which was great as it made a filling meal with the rice. Their enchiladas are a pretty safe bet, flavorful but mild. The tacos are also pretty standard but good. The vegetarian menu is full of meals that are well priced and satisfying. I always appreciate when restaurants use the big chunky veggies, not the small diced stuff you can tell was meant for a meat dish. Dinner time can get pretty crowded and noisy here, but for lunch it's usually quiet. They occasionally have bands play on weekends. Lunch meals are less than $10 a person and two people can have meals and adult drinks for under $30. All round good place to stop in.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
