Kinfolks is the closest place for barbeque to my home - I could almost walk there. And if it came right down to it, I *would*. I can't seem to get past the meat and sides to ever try the dessert, so I can't speak for the sweet stuff, though the pies and cake always look great in the display case. The ribs are tender and tasty, the smoked chicken wings are huge and flavorful, and the brisket is like meat candy. My favorite side is the green beans. They are a close match to my grandmother's southern style green beans that I've never been able to properly duplicate. My family eats here frequently, and last year we had them cater our holiday meals. Leftovers don't last long, so we have to keep going back. Love it!

Stopped by and got the sampler and a piece of catfish and tasted just like some good home cookin. Mac and cheese and the catfish were the best part.

The real deal! If you are looking for a real mom and pop restaurant with excellent food this is your place! The spareribs and cabbage as a side is the only way to go! No gimmicks here, just good southern food!

Super yummy. Great customer service. The friendly staff was somehow even more impressive than their stellar food. The baked beans were particularly fantastic.

Best bbq in Smyrna by far. The sides are all homemade and delicious. Love the bbq chicken for a good healthy meal.

Stopped by to pick up the family a bite to eat one Friday evening and I should have kept going! The food was terrible. The wings were too smokey the fish was cooked in burnt oil and the ribs were extremely dry! If you want good BBQ in Smyrna; check out Mr Tips on the corner of Todd Lane and Old Nashville Hwy...the only reason I didn't was because he was closed. I will never, ever, ever eat here again. Nice family but sub par food!

The problem with most BBQ places is either the meat is dry, or it lacks flavor. That is NOT the case with Kinfolks. The meat is tender and flavorful with a nice smokeyness to it. Their BBQ sauce is definitely homemade as its one of the best sauces I have had. The portions are a good size, which is great because you have to save room for their strawberry cake. It is so moist and delicious. Don't just take my word for it, go see for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

Stopped here with my teenage son after driving by most of the year but planning to stop. This is a true family-style place...not a lot of tables but it's clean and comfortable...sorta like being at home :-) My son had the pulled pork, green beans, mac 'n' cheese....I had brisket , baked beans and mac 'n' cheese. We also got an order of 5 wings. The wings are whole wings so there's a flat, drummie and tip. One meat and two sides are in the $7-9 range. $7 for 5 (10 wings at any other place of course). Unlike the previous reviewer I didn't find the wings too smoky or rubbery. With smoked wings you smoke them first and then throw them on the grill to get a bit of crisp on the skin which is what they did. We thought they were great. They are strong enough that you wouldn't knock down 20 of these like you might at Buffalo Wild Wings...but they're not meant to be a buffalo wing. If you've had the smoked wings at Kirkenburts in the Boro' then you'll have an idea of what these are like. Each table has a mild (sweet) sauce and hot(spicy vinegary) sauces so using these on the wings is highly recommended. They start you off with cornbread in the shape of silver dollar pancakes....perfectly done...and they're great with the sauces. To the main course: My brisket was very good...it wasn't as moist as some I've had but that could be just because it was finished hours earlier. Brisket is best when it's first sliced really. That being said the flavor and texture was very good. Again...adding a sauce is a must. The baked beans weren't overly impressive as they were the smaller beans that you'd get in a can with some added seasoning and meat. I'd prefer totally from scratch beans but they were still ok. We both really liked the mac 'n' cheese. Standard sized mac in a very creamy sauce with a little shredded cheese as a garnish. My son loved his pulled pork and sides. We just had drinks form the cooler but I noticed they do serve sweet tea and coffee. We finished off with chocolate cake for me and chess pie for my son. Both were very good and had that "mom" stamp all over 'em. Total bill was $23 and change....not bad at all. I'd highly recommend this place for bbq lovers....and it's nice to see a small business making a great effort. BTW....don't know the name of the young man working the tables and counter but he was aces...very personable but not a pest and seemed to enjoy his job. Check this place out.

At first I was a little turned off by location and first impression, being attached to a bar and all.... But then I tasted it... A pork chop so tender a plastic fork makes it fall apart.. Brisket is delicious. mac and cheese rivals my mothers, really good potato salad... I've visited here six maybe seven times and try something new each time... All the things are good. actually great. The staff is super nice and they have Cup Cakes.. and not the kind that are 75% weird icing either.. the real deal, actually edible kind. Also, the hot sauce is really good on the amazing cornbread pan cakes they give you. This place is substantially better than Jim and Nick's, Bob's and Famous Dave's. One more thing, a big deal for a lot of southerners... The Sweet Tea is great!
