If I could give this place 20 stars, I totally would. Some of the best Italian food I have ever had in Nashville! Parking is easy to obtain. It's located in a strip mall area, so there is plenty of space. The restaurant is very cozy and warm. The staff is very attentive, courteous, and fast. The owners of the restaurant are also always there to greet guests and to seat them. My husband and I go here once a week and we have yet to be disappointed. The portions are very nicely sized, the food tastes heavenly, and the prices are very good. We usually get two entrees and an app or dessert for about $50. The garlic bread is always seasoned and buttered just right. It's crusty and delicious. The Alfredo sauce... This is where they shine the brightest! They produce some of the best Alfredo sauce I have ever tasted. It's tangy, buttery, cheesy, and thick. I almost always get the lobster ravioli. You really can't go wrong with it! The raviolis are huge, tender, and the lobster is so fresh. The chicken parmigiana is always just amazing, too! The chicken is pan fried and has this delicious crust in the outside. My husband has tried heir calzone and pizza and we loved them. The dough is crispy and seasoned well. They use high quality meats and fresh cheeses that just melt in your mouth. I've never had more delicious food in my life.

Second time here, great experience both times. Four stars because the service is a little slow- we got drink refills but it was a little late, and were promised a second round of bread that never came. The food, however, is on point. I had the Carbonara and it was excellent. Great portion size as well. But if you order a pizza- know that it is enough for two! We will be back for sure.

Great food! Great service! The carbonara is amazing. Can't get myself to order anything else because it is so good.

It's good, and easily the best food in the Nippers Corner area. I've lived in this area for 8 years and it's a nice change to have a solid option so close by. We prefer to do carry out from here as the space is pretty small and not so great for eating with our young son. I'm super picky about Italian since my mother / grandmother spoiled me as a child. This place gets a lot of things right, but not everything. A great option if you are in the area.

We had Pizza Quatro Stagioni and Villalba. The first one was very good but the Villalba wasn't impressive. The Villalba crust was quite thick and chewy. We've had better Italian pizzas. One great point was the waitress (a short hair lady with glasses). She was very attentive but not "intruding". She delivered a great service beyond our expectation.

Stop by here for lunch. Lunch menu very reasonable. And the food taste great. From spaghetti to sandwich.

Eaten here several times and always really enjoyed the food, then I tried the veal Marsala and my life changed for ever. It's one of the tastiest things I've ever had. The flavor of the sauce with the perfectly cooked veal compliment each other like Sinatra and Martin and that's no lie.

Wow. I did not expect this little joint to produce such good Italian food! I had a white pizza and oh my. They loaded it with ricotta cheese! It was soooooo delicious! The crust was to die for as well. My bf had lasagna which was huge! The marinara was seasoned so perfectly that it went so well with the dish. It has now become our new favorite Italian restaurant. The price is so reasonable. The service is great. The place is clean. Everything is excellent!

Just a regular Italian joint?! No. This is a little quaint establishment that stands head and shoulders above many other Italian Restaurants. My party had a total of 7 people with 3 being children. Service outstanding. Now for the food. Specifically the Chicken Marsala. Not just any Chicken Marsala. The Best Chicken Marsala ever. PERIOD

A regular a mama Mia, but thought we would give this establishment a try since we're nearby. Not sure if it was an off night or what.. Two servers in the entire building which needed flagged down for service after a 15 minute wait. Wine served was flat and in dirty glasses(pic attached), switched to chianti which was much better. Food was fair but much resembled that of Fazoli's or a homemade frozen dinner. Salads were wilted and brown. Server comped the wine which made things slightly better but we will not be returning.

What a great hidden jewel in Nolensville. This family owned Italian restaurant has a fabulous menu with great tasting food! This was our first time there but we will definitely be going back. Also the service is great! We had Adam as our server and he gave good advice on the food and was quick with the service. Truly enjoyed the evening.

Excellent restaurant - no frills layout & decor, friendly staff, delicious food and overall just a great value in Italian food. Super kid friendly as well - it's extremely clean and not fancy enough where you'd worry about bringing reasonably well behaved children to.

A disclaimer: My first time here should have been a much better review. I actually had a good meal until the last five minutes. What happened ruined the entire experience for me. I had arrived about 3:30 PM and the restaurant was empty. I told the waitress that I was settling in for a while, and that I would be using my computer. She said no problem, that she was there until close. I ordered their most expensive appetizer, shrimp scampi ($11), a bottle of Pellegrino ($5), carbonara ($12), a soda ($2) and a cannoli ($3). Mind you, this is in the late afternoon, at a place where there is a $7.95 lunch combo that includes a drink. The food was nothing to write home about, but it was satisfactory, well prepared, and promptly served. The cannoli was exceptional-- so good, as I was wrapping up, I ordered four more to go ($12). My final tab with tax was $47 before tip-- lunch. I tipped $10 and closed out because I was getting ready to leave very soon. Here's where it all went wrong: The place is very popular for people with bratty kids who like to eat dinner early. $4 child spaghetti at every table. I had been there a little three hours when a lady who identified herself as the owner came over to my table and asked me to leave. Politely, yes, but the point is, she asked me to leave. That alone is completely impertinent. Asking someone to leave a restaurant for any reason is an inexcusable insult. I wasn't doing anything inappropriate, I didn't just sit around ordering water refills, I wasn't being a nuisance. She just needed the table. Mind you, I had spent more in my time there than her average kid-heavy four-top or couple eating pizza would at dinner. Please understand that I would likely have come back. Perhaps even frequently as it is very convenient to my job. I did leave the owner a note to let her know in no uncertain terms that she had made a brash mistake. A strategic error as a business person. Think of all the lost future revenue from just me, not to mention that her decision provoked a very negative review here on Yelp, and to my 1600 Facebook friends, and to everyone I will speak to in the next few days, and on the restaurant's Facebook page. Plus, since it is so close to my job, it will no longer be on my list of places to go for lunch or dinner after work. More is the pity, because there is no good Italian close to my office. Compare my bad feeling and outrage to the short-term test of patience, if any, of someone waiting a few minutes for a table. Incidentally, by the time I actually left my table, the restaurant was full, but there was no one waiting. I don't patronize businesses that don't appreciate their customers. As such, I won't be back. I encourage those of you reading to stay away as well.

Came here for lunch and it was worth all 2500 calories that were likely consumed. Our garlic bread came out fresh and warm shortly after we sat down and was served with warm marinara sauce that was super tasty. I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo and it was nothing short of creamy, cheesy goodness. Though my meal wasn't included, there was a lunch special going on as well.. A couple items for $8 with soft drink included. Very nicely priced! The service was high quality. Our waitress was on top of everything and seemed to know every need before we even had to ask. Family friendly place as well. The table next to us had probably ~10 people dining ranging anywhere from 8 to 80 years old. While you wouldn't come here for the ambience or atmosphere, the simple, comfortable and casual dining room is a nice change of pace from other pretentious restaurants in the area.

Villalba has been opened for just under a year, the first thing you notice when you walk in, is that the place is spotless. Clean as a whistle everywhere you look. Very impressive. The food was AWESOME. I had spaghetti with Ragu sauce, it was the best, my son had a Seafood FraDiavolo (they called it something else that I cannot recall) he said it was the best he has ever had. The owner, who is also the chef, share the kitchen duties with his son. They are a great pair and create some top notch dishes. Wife runs the front of the house and does a great job also. Our waitress was very friendly, extremely attentive and was happy to share the story of the place. A diamond in the rough, if you visit Nashville make the trip here, you will not be sorry.

This place is so delicious! I got the lasagna and it's fabulous. They bring out warm garlic bread with tomato sauce for dipping. It's a great price and child friendly.

I'm very confused... I'm not sure how this place could receive 5 stars. I went here after checking the Yelp reviews and was thoroughly disappointed! The food: We ordered mussels as an appetizer. Overcooked and a little tough but passable. The best thing we ate here was the sauce from the mussels. They bring out garlic bread and marinara. Someone mentioned that the marinara is fresh?? The stuff tasted like it came out of a can... and this is coming from someone who makes spaghetti with a jar at home. It was gross. My guy got a pizza... I can't remember which one. Had mozzarella and cherry tomatoes and he added prosciutto. The prosciutto looked like little pieces of bacon and tasted like bologna. Any real Italian would have been offended at their version of prosciutto. Pizza had absolutely no flavor, just gobs of mozzarella cheese. I ordered a pasta dish with chicken, mushrooms, and spinach. At first it was okay (I was starving and could only stomach one mussel)... but the chicken tasted more like goat (I can't explain this, it tasted like a goat smells?) and the sauce was so heavy it started to make me feel sick. Nothing about this meal was fresh or tasty. We boxed up more than half of our meal... I tried reheating the pasta today and just the smell made me sick so it got tossed. The restaurant itself is clean and an okay design... but it was very casual and I felt like I should be eating a burger instead. I don't like writing negative reviews, but I also don't like being so disappointed even after doing research. So for $60 for two meals and an appetizer, mediocre food, lackluster ambience and a waiter that was nice but just too awkward....... Stay home and order a pizza and get a bottle of wine. Also, they have updated the menu... the pictures on Yelp are an old version I guess.

Seriously. Our friends told us it was great so we had to check it out and guess what...best Italian we've had in the state of Tennessee - hands down better than Maggianos and the other chain places. The food is fresh and homemade. Recently we had a margherita pizza and the penne con spinaci for $21 after tax. The flavors are on point. You can tell everything is fresh, including the red sauce and mozzarella. Great service too! We have even done take-out and the food was just as good. I agree with Amanda that the ambience is dull. This is the only negative, but we don't mind it one bit. You pay for the quality of the food (which is very well priced) and my rating reflects that. We will be regulars at Villalba!

What a great little spot for Nippers Corner. I went here for lunch a few days ago, after receiving the Weekly Yelp, and reading generally positive reviews on this place, I rounded up the Lunch crew at work and made it a 'Talian Tuesday. No one was disappointed in this place. I generally steer away from Calzones at Italian places, because more often than not, they unfortunately turn out to be jumbo Hot Pockets filled with molten lava. This was NOT the case at Villalba's. They make the Calzones to order from fresh dough, and bake it in a wood fired oven, and you can taste the difference. Whereas most places will take a premade frozen calzone and nuke it, then finish it off in a toaster. It did take a little longer this way, but it was also one of the best calzones that I've probably ever had. I did the pick two ingredients, I chose Meatballs and onions, These ingredients are baked into the calzone alongside mozzarella and the most underrated cheese of all time, the ultimate team player, the MVP of italian dishes, RICOTTA. They use their own house made Marinara, which in a world where a bland red sauce is usually misrepresented as a true Marinara, the richness of this take, was very welcome. Very flavorful, a quality that you can truly taste. Overall this is great little lunch spot, its in a Publix Shopping Center, so don't expect a fancy date, but if you're looking for a good, quality meal, at a great cost, pop in one day. Thanks for reading!

I had a to go order. Asked for sauce with bread, didn't get any. Also, I ordered the carbonara again with chicken. It is an Alfredo with precooked chicken. Uggghhh! I want this place to be good sooooo bad.

While looking for a place to eat, I spotted this place and decided to pop in for a bite. It was about 3pm, so there was maybe 10 customers in the whole place. I was greeted and seated in less than 10 seconds. My server seemed nervous, but was very nice and checked on me several times throughout my meal. I got what I usually get at Italian restaurants: eggplant parmesan, house salad, and sweet tea. When my tea came out, so did the garlic bread. I'm usually not a fan of garlic bread because in many cases the bread has been frozen a/o stale, but the bread served tasted very good. I didn't eat the marinara sauce served on the side. My house salad consisted of mixed greens (mainly baby spinach) tomatoes and red onions. There was a homemade oil and vinegar-based dressing. I wasn't really a fan of the dressing because it wasn't balanced. There was more vinegar than oil, and even though there were other ingredients/spices, the flavor just didn't come through. My main entrée, the eggplant parmesan, was decent. There was one eggplant piece that wasn't cooked all the way through, but other than that the meal was nice and filling. The only problem I had was the price, and it was slight. My meal came out to about $20. This would've bothered me a lot more if it weren't for their portion sizes. I could have easily shared part of my meal (I chose to make another meal out of the extra), so that made spending $20 worth it.

For what the restaurant lacks in ambiance, it more than makes up in quality and taste! The dining room is very clean and the service is excellent. The food is clearly prepared fresh and was served hot. Excellent experience!! Mmm mm good!

The worst experience ever. Our party of three ordered Veal Piccata (I've had it here before three times) and when it arrived, it was obvious and apparent that this was NOT what we ordered. The veal had a dark, sweet sauce (more Marsala than Piccata) and I called our server over. She reluctantly took it back to the kitchen and returned with it---same plate, same food. The message from the Chef was that this is Veal Piccata. I love Piccata have enjoyed it coast to coast. This was not it. Then, the owner came over and proceeded to enter into an argument with me. I told her that I didn't want the dish and explained that I'd had real Piccata here before. She disagreed and continued to argue and her demeanor was combative and rude. To make things worse, she went into the kitchen and brought of her"head chef" who told me I was wrong with the nasty owner nodding her head with her hands on her hips. I finally told them I did not want to argue and she stalked off. Never, ever again. Nashville has some of the finest dining anywhere; plenty of great Italian restaurants among them. This place isn't good enough to be treated like dirt. Go somewhere else.

This was the best lasagna I have ever eaten. The marinara sauce as heavenly and the atmosphere was perfect ---as they had a family atmosphere..the noise level was such that you could bring children or talk without worrying if people were so quiet that they could hear what you were saying. The menu offered a wide selection of options. On another note..the post by Thomas H was disturbing to me---we were sitting right next to him and he was sitting there on his laptop computer playing a video game while we had to wait for a table. The lady who came to him was not rude, considering he was taking up space and others WERE waiting. It seems that people feel entitled that if they pay for a meal they are renting the booth or space. A busy eating place on a Friday night is not the place to sit and occupy space to spend the night on your computer. So this person thinks sitting at a booth for over 3 hours is NOT rude? Don't let his review keep you from eating the delicious food he obviously thought was good according to his review. Take a look at his other reviews..4 out of 5 are negative..he looks like he even got his meal free at one of them. Just to think of how much money a place loses or could have made over the course of 3 plus hours on that table. The prices were great, great atmosphere, great food..what more could you want. I actually appreciated the lady for doing that, so we will be back. Don't miss this place!!!

First off, this is not a place for a quick meal. We got there at 7 on a Sunday and they were already busy. They had three servers going about a mile a minute hosting, serving, bartending and busing tables. We had to wait a while to be seated, wait a couple minutes for our drink order, and then about 20 minutes to get our appetizers and another 30 to get our food. We were there just under 2 hours all told. During that time people were still coming in and having to wait to be seated, often even longer than we had waited. That said, it was some of the BEST Italian food we've had and I was surprised to find it at Nipper's Corner, so far from the main hub of Nashville. The dressing on the Caesar salad was flavorful without being overbearingly fishy and my salad was not drowning in it, but well covered. The crab cakes were lemony and garlicky and delicious. The cheese bread was also very good with fresh, flaky bread brushed with garlic and herbs and covered in gooey cheese. My husband ordered their lasagna. Normally to the husband food is food is food and he's mostly indifferent. Not to this. He said it was "amazing", and that the noodles did not taste like regular plain ole box noodles. This was the first time I've ever seen him try to continue to eat after stating he was full. He thought it was that good. He normally gets testy about long waits too, but stated he would be willing to visit again, and wait again, to have their food again. I agree with him. So, not your pop in pop out quicky meal type place, but definitely worth it if you don't mind the wait. Or maybe try them on an off hour for quicker service.

This is truly a great find! The owner is actually from Italy and so everything tastes very authentic. I also love that the lunch prices are only $7.50 and that includes your drink with bread on the table. I live just down the street and it's very nice and so convenient. I like the service too.

So it was late this last Monday and we didn't want fast food. We had passed this place a few times and after reading reviews figured it was time to try. So glad we did! I got the lasagna and fiancé got chicken fettucini Alfredo. Both were delicious but I think I liked the Alfredo better. Both meals came with garlic bread which was yummy with the sauces. We got one slice of tiramisu to try and each ordered gelato. Fiancé got hazelnut and I got pistachio. Gelato was pretty good but the tiramisu was amazing. I might have to buy a whole cake sometime!

I had the Chicken Marsala, which was unusually sweet; I could only eat a few bites. My husband had the lasagna. We had heard from friends that this was a good Italian restaurant so we were looking forward to a nice meal. I wish I could say the food was great, but no. The waiter was great and friendly.

Just moved to the Nipper's Corner area and was so happy to find Villalba! Went there for lunch. For $7.50 you get a main course meal plus a soup or salad. With that and the free bread and maranara sauce - I was stuffed and still had half my eggplant parm sandwich left! It was delicious and we will definitely be going back. Employees were really friendly and it very much felt like a family restaurant. Loved it.

Great Italian does exist in Nashville, and lucky for me...it's just around the corner, Nipper's Corner that is. The family "gets it"...it's like you're going to their home for dinner. They cleaned up the house in preparation for you(squeaky clean), the family put on a welcoming smile(outstanding and attentive staff), and somebody's grandma rolled out a feast(Mama Mia)! Really, it's the gentlemen of the family in the kitchen...and they engaging you thru the window! We ordered 4 dishes, and couldn't keep our forks out of each other's plates as we tasted everything. The Lasagna stole the show with its beautiful marinara and aromatic fennel Italian sausage...simple but spectacular. The Chicken Marsala was blessed with heavenly mushrooms that were so good...they felt sinful. The Chicken Parm was classically prepared, and spot on. Even the Fettuccine Alfredo left stars in our eyes with the rich creaminess sparkling with the Parma tang. And did I mention the Tiramisu...perfectly prepared with a pronounced espresso flavoring. On my first visit, I ordered take-out pizza; and, the family loved it. I was so impressed by the place and the pizza, hence the dining experience tonight. Another favorable review mentioned that it does take a while, agreed. But it's evident that it's "homemade" to order, and if that's the trade off for this...I'll happy take my seat and wait as long as needed. After all, that's what the vino is for! Hurry before everyone else latches onto this place! I'll be at the table in the corner

Villalba is a welcome addition to the dining options in Nipper's Corner. It's certainly one of the best restaurants in the area, but that says more about the lack of competition than it says about Villalba's quality. The service was friendly, albeit a little slow. It WAS Friday night during the dinner rush, so I can't really complain. A couple of changes would definitely improve the service experience: One, employ a bartender. The woman who I can only assume to be the manager/owner was manning the bar as well as seating tables and running food. It was no small surprise that there was no one seated at the bar as a result. It's a shame, because the bar is certainly the most attractive seating option in the restaurant. Two, designate or employ a host/hostess, and get a stand of some sort. The tables come right up to the entrance in the restaurant's current configuration. They probably could afford to lose one table near the entrance to allow for a host/hostess and waiting area, considering there was no wait for a table in the middle of the Friday night dinner rush. My wife and I just milled around near the door until we were acknowledged by an employee. We and the diners at the tables nearest the door were slightly uncomfortable with the situation. The food was lackluster at best. The tomato sauces on our dishes tasted as if they came from a can. There was a tinny acidity that doesn't come from home-made sauce (unless you're cooking it in a reactive pan of some sort and leave out some fairly basic ingredients). I certainly can do better at home for less expense. In short, they're better than the Italian chain restaurants in Nashville, but I can't in good conscience recommend them above Molinari's in Cool Springs or Mama Mia's in Crieve Hall. Their price point is SLIGHTLY below those two I mentioned, and they do have a pretty good wine/beer/liquor list, which is certainly an improvement over their independent competition. I'll likely return and order something else (without tomato sauce) in hopes that I'll find something I like, because their location is VERY convenient.

Great Italian food. I've only been there for lunch because they have bargains for lunch. You start with amazing toasted bread to dip in fresh marinara. Love the calzone and pizza, my friend liked the spaghetti. They did lose my order one time and quickly comped the meal, but that was an aberration. And it's very clean.

I always try a place more than one time in case the first time around was just a bad day for the servers or cooks. My boyfriend and I went there once a few weeks ago and the service was horrible and the food was just meh. I ordred some Pizza thing and my BF ordered lasagne. Both were OK, but I certainly wouldn't say they were the best in town. So, we decided to go again last Friday. We sat there for 15 minutes waiting for someone to take our order after our beverages were delivered, and another 10 minutes for the bread to arrive. I ordered a chicken Penne pasta dish, but the chicken tasted funny. One of the reviews I read said that they thought that the chicken tasted like goat. I had to laugh because. although I've never eaten goat, I guess that's how I would imagine it tastes. I also got my pasta dish like 10 minutes before my boyfriend got his gross looking pizza, that he didn't even finish, which isn't a normal thing for him. I guess Villalba is to Italian dining as Taco bell is to Mexican.

One of the best family owned Italian restaurant, esp. for my vegetarian friends in town. We customized their fettuccine alfredo for which they charged exorbitantly but that taste was well worth the price. Quantity is enough for a to-go. Also their veggie appetizers and bread starters are really classic. I would recommend their eggplant sandwich for another veggie option. Very cozy ambiance, well laid out and much better than the costly Maggianos.

First visit, wasn't too impressed as yet, but I will try it again. I had a pizza and my wife had pasta and a salad. We frequent Coco's Italian Bistro as well as Porta Via for our Italian nights. In contrast, this is not as interesting or idiosyncratic as either of these other alternatives.

Finally a decent Italian restaurant in the nippers corner area. I would not call it a authentic but it is very good. The wait staff and servers are always very efficient and courteous. The only problem I have is they need to be more consistent with their food. I enjoy their lasagna and sometimes it comes with a lot of sauce, sometimes just enough sauce, and sometimes hardly any sauce; and the amount of meat and cheese on or in the lasagna is inconsistent but it always has a good flavor.

I'm sorry. I rarely, if ever write one star reviews. Every establishment can have an off night. However, our visit tonight to Villabla was a swing and a miss. We ordered toasted ravioli, which tasted as if suffered from freezer burn. A bowl of supposedly homemade soup tasted like Progresso Minestrone from a can. I ordered chicken parmigiana, the chicken tasted old and dry and looked grey. To put the prior comments in perspective, I like airline (when they used to serve it) and hospital food, so it takes quite a bit for me not to like something. The pasta was tolerable and the bread was good. To our waitresses credit, she addressed our concerns.

Delicious Sunday lunch! We stopped in around 1:30 pm on a Sunday and were shown right to a table. For 2 adults and a 3yo we ordered the Bistec sandwich, a cup of Italian wedding soup and a kid's pizza with pepperoni, bacon and black olives. The Caesar salad side to our sandwich was yummy (uniformly chopped romaine) and bigger than we expected for a side salad. Bistec sandwich was piled with meat and the sautéed veggies still had a hint of crunch; no wimpy veggies! The kid's pizza is big! Maybe 8 inches? Mom and Dad were able to have a piece (Delicious!), 3yo had 2 pieces and we took the other half of the pizza home. Delicious food, generous portions. We will be back!

I quite enjoyed my experience. The atmosphere, as others have stated, is casual and friendly. Their small drink selection consists of wine and beer, which is fine. They're not trying to attract a bar crowd. I will recommend that you try the Forst Sixtus; the only specialty beer on the menu. It's a darker beer, but very crisp and clean. One word best describes the food: hearty. They don't serve you a bread basket with olive oil. No, they bring out their marinara. My friend and I went with some basics for this visit. We started with the baked ravioli, which was well prepared and not dried out on at the edges. My buddy had the chicken parmesan and I went for their evening's special. I forget the name, but it was basically a chicken fettuccine with spinach, mushrooms and sun-dried tomatoes. Both dishes could stand to be a little less salty. Other than that, no complaints. I'm glad to have a decent Italian restaurant in the neighborhood. I will definitely go back to try their other offerings, especially the pizzas and lamb. I was bit too full to try their housemade cannoli, though I was tempted to get it anyway. I will stop by for lunch another time and try some of their espresso offerings. I'm always happy to see a restaurant using a traditional style machine.

Its A-OK! Coming from an italian family of 60+ people we know how to cook well and for numbers!! So when I go to an Italian restuarant I expect nothing less than what we make at home. And to my pleasant surprise it was very close! I enjoyed my Italian Wedding soup and Caprese Salad that was very fresh and tasty even if it is not tomato season. The others in my group enjoyed their meals as well. The Veal Picatta was very good and the Calzone was perfect. Great job and we will be back!!

We were staying downtown and it was raining so we wanted to go somewhere we didn't need to walk and could park close to the restaurant. We found this great little family run restaurant on Yelp and decided to give it a try. The spicy seafood pasta was wonderful and my businees companion had "the best Lasagna" in Nashville. This is a great find we'll both remember. I'll be back next time in Nashville.

My husband grew up on homemade Italian food, so had a tendency to be a bit picky about Italian restaurants we eat ate. We were recommended to Villalba by friends. The food in general was very good. He had Stromboli and I had manicotti, which we both enjoyed. The highlight was the cannoli for desert though - it was phenomenal. We were very disappointed in the mussles we ordered as an appetizer (which I almost always order when I see on a menu). They did not taste right and we sent back after eating 3. The waitress didn't really give much of a reaction to us sending it back and we were not compensated for it. I wish I had said something to the manager at the time because I've been sick since I ate them.

I heard about this place from friends at work. It is now an addiction for my boyfriend and I. The owners are front and center, the sauces are made fresh every day, the vegetables are fresh, the bread before your meal is perfectly baked. We had dinner here 3 nights in a row because we wanted to try everything on their menu. Every night we went it was heavenly! From the chicken parm, to the lobster ravioli, we tried it all and loved every bite! Even when we forgot our left overs they boxed it up, and waited for us to hurry back to pick them up! Wonderful mom and pop rustic Italian restaurant. Only thing they could improve on would be the waiters. It tends to get busy, and two waiters couldn't handle it all. But we loved them for saving our left overs.

Went last night. Decent food. Poor ambiance but worst of all was the service. Took 25 minutes to get the server to stop by our table and just got worse from there. Don't bother with this place.

Villalba is a really awesome Italian restaurant. I am often getting Togo food here and I really like the pizza. This is honestly the only Italian pizza place I have found so far in this area that is prepared correctly. The staff is so cool to me every time. I also enjoyed the lasagna dish when I dined in. If you want Italian Villalba is keeping it real so go eat it. I ordered their salad though recently and it was pretty weak. Very low portion

Wow! I am a huge fan of Italian and this place is top notch. We were immediately greeted and seated by a very friendly and informative server. The atmosphere was very calm and inviting, bright and open. First things first let me tell you about the home made Italian bread we were served while still warm with home made marinara on the side for dipping. I could have eaten my weight in the bread and left satisfied. But I didn't. I ordered the fettuccine alfredo and my companion who grew up on authentic Italian ordered the chicken marsala. We didn't wait very long until we were graced with our entrees presence. It was just as beautiful on the plate as it was delicious in our mouths. Seriously. We couldn't get over how amazing our food was. Move over Maggianos! This place is worth the slight drive out to Nippers Corner. We followed up with home made (as everything except the pasta is!) canollis. Wow is all I can say. My mouth is watering just thinking about this wonderful meal. Do yourself a favor and head out that way!! You won't regret it.

Exceptional quality at an exceptional price. One of the most delicious Alfredo sauces I've ever had! The place is simple; it's clear the food is their priority, and take great pride in its authenticity. One of the best locally owned Italian restaurants in Nashville!

This is some very good Italian food, The Sicilian pizza is amazing right up there with Desanos and I dont say that lightly but its cheaper which gives it the edge, The spaghetti in the chicken parm with its fruity like tomato sauce was a masterpiece all to itself. The chicken parm was really good and covered with mozzarella. The cantina chicken was my least favorite while good it wasnt special. The bread with marinara sauce that you get isnt fancy its just good. Go here trust me its good. I am picky with 5 stars. I would give this place a 4.5 if I could because of the chicken cantina but its better than a 4 for sure.

This little place is hard to describe but the food is surprisingly good. Not an intimate place for a date but if you are craving Italian comfort food, it's a good choice. The atmosphere is far from little Italy but the food is far better than say Olive Garden. The bread is Texas toast-ish and there's no side salad but they do a both a good Alfredo and Pomodoro sauce. The dishes are classic Italian (veal piccata, Marsala, lasagna, etc) and a bit on the heavy side so bring an appetite.

This little place is right down the road from our house, so we decided to give it a go on date night a few weeks ago. All I can say is AMAZING. The bread is fresh and they give you marinara that is CLEARLY homemade to dip it in. We are talking...best marinara I have ever tasted. Their meat spaghetti sauce is the only spaghetti sauce I have ever tasted that rival's my Dad's, and he is a chef. The chicken marsala was delicious and had plenty of garlic and mushrooms. The gelato was amazing as well. Everything was just excellent, honestly. We will be back a thousand times over!

Amazing food! It's in a strip mall type place and I never would have given it a second look if I hadn't heard how good it was. They make their own bread and mozzarella. They have a $7.50 lunch special everyday that includes a drink, soup or salad and either sandwich, pizza, calzone, etc. I don't think there is a better deal anywhere for this kind of quality! The steak sandwich is amazing as is the meatball and the Italian. Definitely worth trying out and make sure to get something that includes the fresh mozzarella. It can't be beat!!

Some of the best Italian I have had in all of Nashville. I live in the neighborhood and have been here several times in the few months they've been open and have yet to have anything I wouldn't give at least 4/5 stars. Everything is made to order. Extra props to the Catania Chicken. Absolutely outstanding! It's about as authentic as I can imagine Italian good being. Great prices too. Very reasonable. Do yourself a favor and try it!

This is the most authentic Italian restaurant in Nashville. The chicken parmesan and chicken marsala are my favorite dishes. The homemade garlic bread is fabulous. The sauces are delicious and you can really taste that the ingredients are fresh. The service is competent and prompt but may occasionally lacking in personality and enthusiasm. The owner and his wife are often on site and eager to talk with customers and ensure a great experience. The prices are great considering the large portions and great quality of the food. One of my go-to dinner spots in Nipper's Corner!

It's a five , yes it's a five . This is a small family owned restaurant in nippers corner . We were greeted quickly and with a smile . They only serve wine , but man it's a great wine list . Nothing over the top , just good wine . We quickly received a a basket of warm homemade garlic bread with a home made marinara . Lawd , can I bath in this ? Can you bottle this ? Can I have a qt to go? Awesome marinara is what it should be called ! We had an order of baked ravioli with a crispy coating and scrumptious cheese filing . The final dish was the chicken Catania . Chicken with spinach, mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes, fettuccine and a homemade creamy Alfredo sauce . This food was so good it was still awesome cold. This is hands down some if the best Italian food in Nashville . The prices are very fair and the portions huge . You will not be disappointed

Wish I could go 3 /2 stars. If 'Yay! I'm fan' constitutes 4 stars then 3 1/2 would be minus the YAY? Went here with the fam........ 2 boys had bread sticks for apps and lamb chops for dinner. We had to send the lamb back a few times because it was too rare (screaming!) but they finally got it right and the meat was excellent though the gas smell from the grill was evident. The service was cordial and professional, better than most we've experienced in Nash. I had the tomato soup which was good and the Shrimp Alfredo which over fettuccine, not to heavy. Shrimp were fresh, or as fresh as can be expected in a land locked state. Wifey had the soup and Chicken Catania which was also excellent. Not covered in slop, just garlic and a light brown sauce. Cannoli's (best we've had in town) and FINALLY a cup of freaking espresso in Nashville topped off the evening. All plates were sent back to the kitchen empty. We enjoyed it. It's a casual place with simple decor; pizza & calzone on the menu so it's not fine dining but we'll go back.

Very very good Italian food, good wine list. Our server seemed to be new but was very nice. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Pasta was all excellent, perfectly cooked. We got a pizza which had excellent ingredients (good crust and sauce, fresh mozzarella) but was way undercooked- we took half home and it was fantastic reheated in the oven. Decor unfortunately feels like you're in a strip mall (which you are.) They seem to do a lot of take-out business but we haven't tried that yet. Definitely worth trying out.

I just returned from a delightful dinner experience at Villalba. Thankfully it was a Monday night. I know why we've waited on the weekends for such a wonderful meal - it was made for us. Sounds trite - I know. But, this food was made to order, when we ordered it. It was fresh, homemade and portioned with genorosity. This is food made for the love of food. Flavorful, tasty and fulfilling. As I was driving home, the sweet savory, taste of the sauce was still in my conscious and on my taste buds. And that was after I succumed to the tiramisu, also delightful. Nippers Corner, you have a gem in your midst.

We tried Villalba on a wet, dark Friday evening after a long week, after reading the reviews already in place. We were pleased with the quality of the food and the service was pretty good, if a bit frantic - I'm not sure why there was so much hurrying and scurrying for a restaurant that's fairly small. I do agree with the other reviewers who said that having a dedicated hostess and/or better waiting area would make the experience better. It's a bit awkward to just hang out by the door while people are trying to eat right next to you - I don't think giving up the two tables between the bar and the front window would make that much difference. I'd also agree that having a dedicated bartender and/or busperson would be a good idea too. The owner (or who I'm assuming was the owner) was running around looking fairly harried most of the time we were there. We started with the complimentary bread and marinara. The bread wasn't particularly impressive, but it was hot and the marinara was tasty. My dinner partner had the house salad to start and was pleased, but again, nothing especially standout. I had the Caesar and it was somewhat heavy on the lemon, but the greens were nice and fresh. For dinner, he had the meat ravioli with tomato sauce - portion size was good and the flavor consistent. We don't think they are handmade though - a bit too uniform in size (if I'm wrong, I'd love to be corrected). The big hit of the night, in my opinion, was my spaghetti carbonara. Hot, creamy, plenty of pancetta and great flavor. The only problem with the entrees were that they came out before we'd even really started on the salads. So timing could have been better. Luckily they stayed hot until we were ready for them. We didn't get dessert but it's on the list for next time. It's not the best Italian I've had, but for a small restaurant in a strip center in south Nashville, we were pretty pleased and will be back.

Amazing food! Ambiance is a bit dive-ish, but it doesn't matter since the food is so good. If you don't like authentic Italian food, and fake villa decor is what you enjoy, this is not the place for you. ;)

Delicious food, great value. If you live in the south nashville area, go before they get super busy!! Beer is cheap, complimentary home made garlic bread with home Made marinara is excellent. We had the pizza verde and the calzone, both very good. Two entrees, 6 beers, under $30.

A hidden treasure! Small, clean, family-owned restaurant. Service was very fast and friendly. Even the kitchen staff poked their heads out to say "hello" as I was seated. I was served garlic bread and marinara dipping sauce. Omg the sauce!!!! Wow! I was then brought a plate of piping hot spaghetti with the same sauce and the family's signature meatballs. Heaven! This place is a true gem. Villalba, you represent Italy's finest! Gratzi!

Great new restaurant (only two months open) with fresh, tasty lunch menu of authentic Italian fare. Service was slow for lunch, but it was okay once we received our meal. Reasonably priced (lunch menu included beverage!) and conveniently located at Nipper's Corner. Looking forward to returning for dinner soon.

We had an early dinner at Villalba, so we can't comment on service when the restaurant is crowded, but out experience was excellent. It was our first visit, so we stuck with the basics (shared Caesar salad and spaghetti bolognese). Both were excellent, and our server did a great job. We'll definitely be back and explore the menu. Highly recommended.

We have dined at Villalba four times. Our experience has been a mix of good, bad and indifferent. The pizza was good, but they use a sausage with a bizarre ingredient that is hard to describe. It does not have the pleasantly piquant flavor of anise and fennel. In short, I hated it. The marinara sauce is superb, and their chicken marsala is a competent dish. I have to say their chicken piccata was a huge disappointment: the familiar lemony tartness was absent and the side of pasta was swimming in grease. The whole dish was overpowered by garlic. I would also avoid their Progresso-like soups: at $4.65 a bowl they are way overpriced. The house salad is OK and the garlic toast is a treat. I don't eat dessert, but my wife enjoyed her cannoli. We will probably visit one more time. But if the food is like our last meal, we are finished with Villalba.

  • Tart L.

Nippers Corner best dining place is now Villalba Italian Restaurant. In sync with the neighborhood, it is informal with a number of scattered flatscreen TVs, I guess in case one get's bored with one's date. The food is the southern Italian that seems ubiquitous in those middle of the road restaurants of that cuisine, in these parts. I recommend the Gamberi lemony shrimp appetizer in salsa verde. For the calzone I'd go with the four cheese Quattro Formaggi which is a good vegetarian choice. Skip the veal Costolette and go instead with the vegetarian Lasagna Di Magro pasta which even a carnivore might enjoy. There's decent pizza also, though not neapolitan quality.

A little gem in a strip mall. Warm and friendly service. We each had different entrees and all were very good. Warmed bread with dipping sauce brought to the table. For the menu and prices this is the spot for Italian. We will be back often

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
