This place has a yeast donut and a killer yeast Cinnamon Swirl. I used to shop this guys donuts years ago when he was on Nolensville Road before he moved to this spot. However, what makes the best donut shop in town are the cake like donuts and the Apple Fritter. The fritter is huge and is a meal for sure. My favorites are the blueberry cake donut and the old fashioned style sour cream donut. The owner/cook is Korean and either chuckles or gives me the eye when I try my "Anya Hasayo" greeting. Try it out...one day he likes the attempt...another day, not so much. :)

Best donuts in Nashville, hands down.

The sign speaks for itself, "BEST DONUTS" it says, and it doesn't lie. The folks that run it are friendly and fun and the food is great. Best blueberry cake donuts I've ever had. Just because it looks like a dive doesn't mean the food's not good! Don't forget about the lunch sandwiches either, they are delicious! In my opinion, the donuts are better than any other place in Nashville.

I don't know if this place is a sub shop that happens to sell donuts or a donut shop that also sells subs. I'm guessing its the former because the name of the place is actually Sub House. Regardless, they have awesome donuts. Probably, like others have said, the best in Nashville. The apple fritter is by far my favorite, but they are all really good... like, remind you of donuts from bakeries that existed when you were a child, good. Oh, and the subs here are good too. I've only had the club sub, but it was above average as far as subs go. The bread was great. I'm guessing they make it in house as well. It's a tiny place and the decor is nothing to get excited about. However, that's a good thing. If it were pretty, more people would undoubtedly go there and I have to believe it would lose some of it's "hidden gem" charm. We wouldn't want that, now would we. So, tell your friends... just not too many.

The sandwiches are really good, the donuts are exceptionally good, but the soup, the soup is amazing! You can tell it is made from scratch, and it's quality. I love the vibe too. I feel like I'm in a tiny sub shop in Japan.

The best doughnuts and sandwich I have ever had. You must try Bear Claw / Apple Fritter (whatever they call it). It's huge, so make sure you are hungry. Other doughnuts were good too. I went back for the sandwich, and all the ingredients were fresh. Def better than fast food. I high recommend and I can't wait to go back when I'm in town. Update Jan 2012 - I did my yearly visit to Nashville. I went back to the place to fulfill my doughnut craving. They still had delicious and yummy doughnuts. I also noticed that they have free WIFI. It's not Starbucks / Caribou cafe, but it def served my needs (food & internet) and made me to go back for lunch and do some work (my parents house still doesn't have internet - ouch). I cannot wait to go back to have another monster bear claw.

The sandwiches are always decent, but the ants in the donut case freaked me out yesterday...

I have seen this place many times, but never stopped -- why I don't know. A co-worker brought in a box of donuts today and the apple fritter is hands down and by far the best pastry I have ever eaten. Soft and sweet with a little crispiness. Perfection!

I can't honestly review this spot because we walked in and there were no donuts and the place was very dodgy. Not impressive and probably would have walked out even if the case was full.

My fiance and I were craving donuts, not an unusal feeling for us, and this was on our way so without pause we stopped in. "Best Donuts" is written in huge letters on the window front - just what you want to see when you're craving donuts! This sadly doesn't have a good ending to our craving though. We walked in and they had a very small cabinet with a limited amount of donuts. The place didn't particularly have that sweet yeasty bread smell and was rather dingy. We almost didn't buy any but who are we kidding, we went ahead and purchased four but only ate 2...two donuts gone to waste-what a shame you might be thinking, but after taking a few bites of them we were nearly convinced that they purchased the donuts elsewhere and brought them in. Whether they did get them elsewhere or made them in house, we were not fans of The Donut Place.

This place has the best donuts in Nashville. It is on the corner of Harding and Trousdale and from the road it looks... uninviting. The sign says "Sub house". When you walk in, the place is underwhelming, but I have never eaten a better donut. They are made fresh in the morning and when they sell out, there are no more for the day. The apple struddle and blueberry donuts are amazing. I have had sandwiches a few times there and they are really good too. I would not recommend dining in, as the inside has a run down feel. Also, you should know that they won't take credit for purchases less than $5 or $10. I don't remember how much. Great hole in the wall!

A Saturday morning quest to try a new donut place. That was my mission for the morning. This place is a little hard to find. It has "best donuts" printed out on paper & a "Sub House" sign. I guess it's two business in one. I'm not sure. I walked in & noticed a collection of different house plants & random pictures. Feels like the 80's to me. Not a bad thing, just that it's been around. With a sign like "best donuts" I was expecting cases & cases off different donuts & pasties. No. Not the case. They have one small case & they had 5 different types of donuts. Donut holes, cinnamon twists, chocolate donuts, apple fritters & a blueberry donut. With those options, I got an apple fritter & blueberry donut. The apple fritter was good, nothing amazing though. It reminded me of a gas station fritter. I didn't see any apple in it at all, the flavor was apple but I guess they don't put apples in it. The blueberry was good, moist & very sweet. Overall the donuts were good, not great. I was disappointed in the selection of donuts. I think they should just focus on the subs and not advertise "best donuts".

Sandwiches are bad, no wheat bread. Place is dirty and dingy. Owners are too cheap to run A/C. I'm sure their kitchen is not clean too. STAY AWAY.

Delicious sandwiches and great donuts. All very inexpensive. Can't wait to try the breakfast sandwiches!

In my quest to find a mom & pop donut shop my search continues.... Pros: Donuts are decent and edible. Its right before you get to the highway so good location. The guy who is always there is kool and more then helpful trying to explain what comes on what sandwich wise. Cons: Sausage rolls/pig in a blankets are whatever you wanna call them have wayyy to much bread and its a hit or miss on weather you get 1, 2, or 3 links in it,..today was a miss AGAIN!! I don't know if Tennessee can't get it right with Barbecue and Donut shops but for now this will have to do since its convenient . FYI: If you using debit card it must be over $5 here. And the donuts do taste better if you ask him to put them in microwave for just lil bit!....:)

This is a charming little spot to get "best donuts." When I say charming I mean that in the dive bar sense of the word. I am going to strictly give my 4 star rating to their donuts. They are very fresh, light, sweet and not too heavy with oil. I absolutely love the apple fritters and the plain yeast. The donuts are enormous and fluffy with a sweet simple glaze. I have not had the lunch. I have not had the coffee. But the donuts are top notch. It is easy to access this spot, there is a parking lot, just park then run in and get your 'best donuts.' It doesn't have much atmosphere to stay and eat, so get your donuts to go. I think overall the business has a little bit of an identity crisis, the lead sign says "Sub House," and then painted across the windows it says Best Donuts. But despite all that, it a locally owned business and they put out an excellent product. So get yourself some yum.

The apple fritters were good, the donuts were ok. Although, I did like the crunch the chocolate dipped donuts have, that was pretty unique. I would rather take the drive to many other local donut places.

Picture this: A small restaurant called "Sub House" with a hastily prepared "BEST DONUTS" sign in the window that's next to a liquor store. If there's a more appropriate description of authenticity, I'd love to see it. What you get inside is exactly what the windows advertise. Well, the word "best" is a frightening one, but it's not necessarily wrong here. The donuts are great. While most donut shops close after breakfast, this place has found a loophole in the system. Come lunch time, they start selling sandwiches (which, according to their large sign, is apparently their main focus). The sandwiches are a bit expensive for the size, but they're pretty good. Convenience is what really shines here, though. The donuts and sandwiches are good, but the location is even better. Located right by the highway, this is on the way to pretty much anywhere I'm going, which makes it an easy quick stop.

I want to jump on in and say that for the most part I hate it when a business self proclaims they are the best at anything. So usually when I see something as bragotious as a sign on a Sub Shop that reads "Best Donuts" I am the first person to run and try them just so I can tell everyone how wrong the sign is. The problem is every now and then you run in a place where the sign is actually true. THIS PLACE, MY FRIENDS, CAN KEEP IT'S SIGN. In fact I was thinking about making my own sign saying that this place has the best donuts in town with a picture of me smiling as I shove another one in my mouth! It's weird this place has donuts with the sugary taste of Krispy Kreame and the consistency of Shipley's. Bottom line these are the best Donuts in Nashville. You should have known that though. Heck, it said so right on the sign!

Probably better in the morning. I was there in the afternoon, and their supply of donuts was pretty bleak. The donut I got fine: was something like Shipley's. But when I parked, I got a huge flat, and had to wait for my Roadside Assistance to show up. The lady there told me I could wait in there as long as I needed, and let me use the wifi, too. Very courteous. I'll give the donuts another shot.
