Food is fantastic as is the atmosphere. Their patio is great on a nice evening or for brunch. The staff there is always helpful and have thoughtful suggestions. Happy hour at Pomodoro is the best. Great cocktails and wines for $5 plus some of their best bites for under $10. Great place for a date/girls night.

Ate here on Sunday night. Arrived as Happy Hour was ending so we had to wait a bit for a table on the patio, but we enjoyed a cocktail and charcuterie plate inside at the bar. The Spicy Dirty Martini (I forget the official name) was interesting, however I was only interested in drinking one of those that evening. Table opened up pretty quickly and were seated on the outdoor patio. We ordered two Pinot Noirs by the glass and were pleased with the by the glass option taste. For dinner we had the Vegetable Lasagna and Pasta Bolognese. I loved the thin wide noodles used in the Bolognese as it paired very well with the thicker meat sauce and left me feeling satisfied and not full. The Vegetable Lasagna was unique and tasty with the pesto, asparagus and mushroom combination. Again the pasta noodles used were thinner than normal and that was a big positive! I'll definitely be back again - maybe next time for brunch.

I have always enjoyed Pomodoro! The meal is always consistently delicious, and the wine selection is superb. I love sitting outside on their fantastic balcony in the cooler months! I regularly get the pizza, always fab, and enjoy the spiedini as a pre-meal treat (try it, you'll love it!!)

I have never bothered to write a yelp review before but this place was worth it. Food was out of this world delicious. The dishes were creative and upscale. Our server was of course attentive and knowledgable. But the best part was that the prices were incredibly reasonable even though the food was the same quality as more expense restaurants in town. Very impressed and we will return.

Checked out Pomodoro East for Burger Week with a friend. I'd never been here before and, to be honest, I'd never had an interest in going here for anything. I don't really get excited about Italian food... Anyhow, we came during their happy hour and I ordered a martini that tasted like a mix between a lemon drop and a mojito. Yum! It was a little sweet, even for someone with an insane sweet tooth like me, but it was delicious! Next came the main event: their Italian Burger. I don't even know where to start. It was phenomenal!!! Granted I had low expectations from the jump, but it was probably the best burger I've had in a very long time. Such a pleasant surprise! Here's a description in case you're curious: "Beef burger served on a brioche bun with sun-dried tomato mustard, red onion jam (freaking amazing), Caesar dressed romaine, provolone cheese and fennel pickles, served with rosemary Parmesan fries." @_@ It was soooo good! Who knew an Italian place could do burgers so well?! If they find a way to bring this onto the menu for keeps, I'll definitely be at Pomodoro East way more often. The staff was really friendly too! Unfortunately I've had too many run-ins with rude and blasé East Nasty servers, so I was expecting that again. But our host and waitress were great. All together, the food, drinks, and people left me with a great impression of Pomodoro East.

Never had a bad experience here and beg several times, both by myself and with friends. First time I came for happy hour and was pleasantly surprised by both food and drink being $5, and delicious! Dinner is yummy and today I came for brunch and was greated with a different menu: blueberry hazelnut bread pudding with tripled Berry whiskey sauce, tiramisu waffle, Tuscan donuts filled with tiramisu cream, meatball Benedict and what I got: prosciutto omelet. There were so many other good looking things on the menu (and it wasn't packed at noon) that I'm already planning when I will be back to try the other things. By the way, the ambiance is great and the outside patio is delightful as well, in a peaceful part of town.

Great place. Gotta go! Food is locally sourced and high quality. Great tasting dinner options. Haven't eaten there for lunch. Predominantly Italian foods. Pizza is great and prepared in a wood fired oven. Reclaimed wood and cozy atmosphere. My wife and I looked into having our rehearsal dinner here and they are ready for those events but we ended up going with another. Great people. Great service. Good outdoor seating for fall and spring. Parking can be challenging on busy weekends. Great brunch. The cream donuts are amazing. Can't get them anywhere else in Nashville. Awesome mimosas and Bloody Mary bar. Beer selection is small but has good variety. Dessert options are few but pretty good. If you're looking for a place to go when other places are packed with long waits, this is a perfect back up. We no longer go to those places and just move straight here. Small waits when there happens to be. Definitely worth the extra drive into east Nashville. Our guests and we are always pleased.

Wednesday night, 6:00, walked in and grabbed a table at the bar. Cute place, great service, good food. Had the carpaccio, calamari, and shrimp scampi pizza. All were very, very good. Can't wait to go back. Did I mention the service was excellent?

Very clean and nice atmosphere. The main dining room was a little close set due to several large groups, so when being seated, we asked for a table a little farther away from a large group and the hostess told us they were all "reserved." I wasn't surprised to find that 1.5 hours later, one of the three requested tables was...still available. Nice attempt to appear exclusive - I'll conform and make resos next time I come to Hipsterville. Anyway, we had the ahi tuna Caesar salad entree, the chicken Parm, and the tiramisu, and they were all very good. The Caesar was the best. There aren't a lot of selections on the menu and not very many traditional Italian dishes, but I don't think you'll have a problem finding something you'll like.

My fiancé and I decided to try their brunch, and drove all the way down from Clarksville! We were so excited to try their menu. We had a reservation at 11:30 and showed up a little early, but we were seated right away. We both ordered the tiramisu waffle because that was what we based our decision on to come to PE for food. After we ordered, our server informed us they "ran out" of the tiramisu waffles. WHAT!?!?!! Does that mean they're frozen waffles? Bleh. We replaced our orders with other items which were delicious, but we were just kind of confused and disappointed. We may come back, but apparently we need to get there early so we can order what we want.

Great happy hour!! We had to sit at the bar because the patio was full but they let us watch NBA at the bar Cavs vs Orlando eventhough NBA is a weird term in Tennessee. The drinks are amazing, bartender really attentive and friendly. I would go back to try the brick oven pizzas but Happy Hour was everything you could ask for on a Sunday afternoon.

I can sum up my review for Pomodoro with three words: Fig and Pig. As in, the fig and pig flatbread. This could easily be one of the best flatbreads I have ever had. Savory, sweet, fresh, just yum. Also, nice restaurant, easy parking, great services, but seriously, I'll keep it short and sweet: fig and pig. You're welcome.

I'm a little disappointed in the website experience. I loved the bucatini carbonara and called to place an order and they had taken it off the menu and not updated their menu online to reflect the change to some vege pasta dish. Got my hopes up to only be crushed when the rude young lady on the phone exclaimed "we dont have that"... Womp womp

The absolute high point of the day was the evening meal at Pomodoro East restaurant. It was a modest bar/restaurant. It served Italian based food that was the best I have had in a decade. I had a baked trout on a red sauce that was strong, aromatic and completely different from anything I have experienced. On the plate was the base of an artichoke, bivalved and seasoned in a magical manner. There was a lot of garlic but much more. I had ordered fresh brussels sprouts and expected good fresh vegetable in butter but what I got was pan fried garlic and spice heaven. My fellow diner and I were over the moon. I have never had better sprouts. Even the bread to start the meal was a pleasant surprise. It was rosemary and something else wonderful. The dip was good olive oil with a balsamic puddle beneath that was spiced to a unique perfection. Small rough edges in ambiance should be ignored, the food was wonderful...

We stopped by after work in the middle of the week for dinner, I was still in my scrubs and my husband in casual clothes. When we walked up to the host stand, no one was there. We waited for about 5 minutes and were then greeted by a guy who asked how he could help us? Obviously we wanted to eat there. We sat outside and looked over the menu. We got two salads and a cheese plate. The cheese plate was good but extremely overpriced for what you get. Our salads were okay... Overall we felt judged because we weren't dressed super nice and the service was apathetic. We won't go back.

What a disappointing place. We ended up going here on a Wednesday night, it was empty. The waiters and chef were standing around the bar and talking - which is fine when it was slow, but our food came out not tasting well so you think the chef would care more. The service was very nice though, very kind and tried to fix problems. We ordered an appetizer and received bread and fried calamari - both were good, not amazing. I ordered homemade pasta with meat sauce and my husband ordered the steak. His was overcooked and mine was horribly bland. I said the sauce had no flavor and really wasnt seasoned well nor had flavor. They said their sauce isnt different than the typical type of bolognese and some people dont like it. I ended up sending both our entrees back and decided to leave. They brought us out a dessert as an apology- which was really good, and a kind gesture- but I wouldnt go back.

My mom and I went here last night and I think this place is the best Italian I've had in Nashville. Nice ambience, very good food (the shrimp piccata pasta was amazing), good service. I also liked the very creative menu.

This is a great Italian spot located on Porter and the corner of Eastland. The patio is fantastic! Their pizzas are all very good, and the bolognese is incredible! The price is fair, but a little pricey. It's a great east Nashville spot for your Italian fix.

I went for a romantic dinner. The fish I ordered was overcooked and had bones in it. The cocktails were great but the server did not even ask me why I did not eat my fish?! I have been here before and eaten the most amazing mushroom wood fired pizza though.

Great neighborhood restaurant on the East Side of town. The service is very friendly and able to point you in the right direction. Happy Hour has some great deals ($5 drinks and apps). I recommend the steak and spaghetti, its definitely restaurant quality spaghetti, I have never had spaghetti was such flavor. The steak was great, cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. My girlfriend and I were out of there for $40, not bad for a classy restaurant with great food. 5 stars for location, ambience, food, service and happy hour!

Update - the manager got in touch with me and offered a complimentary dinner to me and my husband as an apology, which I think is above and beyond! The food at this restaurant is awesome - my personal favorite is the Fig and Pig pizza. The reason for the previous bad review was this: My husband made a reservation here for Saturday night, only for us to be turned away at the door because they forgot to write it down. As the update says, the manager got in touch with me and offered us a free meal as an apology. Nice to see a business going out of their way to fix a mistake, I really appreciate it.

It's fine. The service is nice/friendly and there are usually people there. Food is okay. Probably wouldn't bother going again for the food, but I would meet people there for a glass of wine at the bar.

Food was very good. It was a little expensive but getting there at happy hour helps with that a lot. My husband enjoyed the beer selection.

Tucked away on the corner of Porter Road and Eastland Avenue in East Nashville is a lovely little patio, friendly staff, and tasty bites... why do I always seem to forget that you exist Pomodoro East? We snuck away here for some light bites and cocktails during Record Store Day and were immediately seated. While many of the other dining spots in the area seemed packed, Pomodoro East immediately seated us on their fairly packed patio. We ordered the Olives ($5), Hummus ($9), and a few rounds of drinks as we took in the beautiful Spring afternoon. They offer Happy Hour Specials from Sunday through Thursday from 4:30 - 6:30 and also on the weekend, Friday through Saturday from 4:30 - 6:00. You can score certain cocktails, wine, and even bubbles for $5 with some beer selections at $3. A Happy Hour Menu is also available with options priced at $5. The staff were super friendly and doting. I really enjoyed the overall vibe of the place and plan to come back much sooner than later to enjoy some of their pizzas, pasta, and entrees soon. The Crispy Polenta looks intriguing... I'll be sure to update my review once I experience a dinner or brunch here - no doubt that an upgraded star will happen if it resembles anything like what I did last weekend but for now, I'm sitting happy at 3.5 stars.

Nice patio. Lots of space between tables so that conversation can be private. Decent location with plenty of parking, as long as another restaurant doesn't open in same strip shopping center. Waitstaff is friendly and alert. Water glasses kept filled. Waiter didn't hover. Food came out quickly. Portion sizes are adequate. Why the 2 stars? Food was not something I would return for. There are so many other good quality restaurants in the neighborhood, but like I said, a drink on the patio would be nice... skip the food. Neither the calamari nor the cheese dish were hot. They were tepid.. Caesar salad - not bad. ample serving, fair amount of dressing, nice piece of toasted cheese pancake on top. Nice touch. Food is meh. Lower quality for more profit. Not someplace I would go eat at. Judging from all the other reviews, I would think it's unanimous that the food quality here is under par.. That's how we roll....

We went to the restaurant around 2 pm for Sunday brunch over labor day weekend 2014. Food was dried out, service from the bar was non existent. The ambience was great and we loved the appearance of both the kitchen and pizza oven ... Now if they would learn to use them both .... !

The short rib and duck were fantastic! The calamari was great. The dark chocolate mousse and butterscotch desserts could have been better. Overall a good meal!!

We visited Pomodoro a few months ago, but I'm just catching up on reviews. We had three adults in our party and were quickly seated (we did have reservations) but it took quite a long time for anyone to come to our table to even take our drink order. We finally had to ask the host who our server was. Within 5 minutes of that we finally got waters delivered to our table. We then noticed everyone around us was had bread on their table. We had to ask if bread was included, and only then did we receive bread at our table. The appetizer we chose, the Carpaccio was delicious. Our wine was also very delicious, so the meal started off great. However, that ended with the crab ravioli I ordered as my entree. For the tiny portion we received, it was quite expensive. Further is was quite bland. It seems now they have removed that item from the menu (based on the online menu I can see). One of my companions ordered the same, and the other ordered a dish reminiscent of pot roast. The roast dish was very tasty! I haven't returned and likely won't. Bummer as I was stoked for yummy Italian in East Nashville! The poor service, bland food, and size vs cost of my entree was simply underwhelming.

On a return visit this week, I was still very happy with Pomodoro East - the service was great, the atmosphere is nice (although still too dark when the sun completely sets) and the pizza was delicious (despite the artichoke pizza no longer being on the menu - bummer). I did have to update, though, and NOT recommend the frittata appetizer special this week. Maybe I'm just used to a different kind of frittata, but this was just not my favorite. I had the stuffed portabello again and it was still AMAZING. And the wine, whatever kind it was, was delicious. I still recommend!

Pomodoro East is a small Italian restaurant in East Nashville known more for their outdoor patio and happy hour offerings than their brunch. A few weeks ago my boyfriend and I decided to check out their brunch because my bf had seen that they have a "meatball benedict" on their menu. Meatballs and eggs benedict are two of his favorite foods, so we HAD to check it out. It was Mother's Day, so the restaurant was pretty busy. Even so, we received really great service. He ordered the meatball benedict and I got the Strata--both were really delicious and perfect portions. We gave in and ordered Tuscan Doughnuts afterwards as a dessert. They are actually listed as a starter, but were so sweet looking that we decided to order them after our meal. I think that was a good choice. The doughnuts were filled with an orange creme and dusted with cinnamon sugar. They were served with a chocolate dipping sauce. I probably don't even need to say this but,....they were SO GOOD. Definitely more of a dessert than anything else, but worth the order even at brunch! Read my full review here: nashvillebrunchblog.word… We will return!

Very nice experience at this spot in the Nashville East area. Restaurant itself is in a nondescript strip mall, but the space is well-envisioned and very interesting. Menu is not large, but includes italian standards as well as some creative variations on the theme. Server was friendly, attentive, but not intrusive, and knowledgable about food, beer and wine. Party of 6 was handled smoothly and all entrees were nicely prepared and tasted excellent. Cheese plate was outstanding... Definitely worth the jaunt across the river !

Came with my family and after being seated 30 minutes past our reservation, started off with the Wagyu carpaccio and fried calamari. The carpaccio was delicious, but the calamari was fairly bland. We tried several of the entrees including the bolognese, chicken parm, crispy trout, pepperoni pizza and pig and fig pizza. The pizzas were by far the highlight of the dinner. The Pig and Fig pizza was just he right balance of savory and sweet and the pepperoni was as good as any wood fired pizza I've had in Nashville. Sadly the rest were at best forgettable. The trout was cold and all of the dishes suffered from a severe lack of seasoning. The wait staff is the only reason this review gets 3 stars. They were very attentive and apologetic with the mistakes and even comped our appetizers because of our wait.

Owned by local restaurant folks, cozy Italian without the red-checked cloths I've been twice so far, and hope to go again this week. Love the atmosphere and furnishings, love the food, love the fact that you can order half-sizes of the entrees, and the wine list is REASONABLE! Would love to attend a wine-tasting of their wines, since many of them I have not had before! Stay tuned, more soon.......

Had dinner at Pomodoro East last night with my parents. It wasn't very busy but the outdoor seating was all taken because it was so beautiful outside. We were happily seated by a window. Our server was quick with the drinks, we all ordered wine. We ordered the calamari to start and it was delicious. Probably one of the best I've had. I had the crispy trout and really loved the flavors in the dish. It came with risotto and an almond honey pesto. Yum. My dad had the shrimp Alfredo with pistachio pesto. I'm not a shrimp fan, so I tasted his pasta and it was fantastic. He ate the whole dish and said he loved it. My stepmom had the chicken Parmesan which was a huge dish. She was only able to finish about half, but really like it as well. For desert, we had the raspberry Carmel bread pudding. That stuff is like crack. You just can't stop shoveling it in! We really enjoyed our meal here. The service was great and the food top notch. I will definitely try to make it here more often. They have a happy hour most days from 4-630 that looks good too.

The pan roasted salmon was incredibly flavorful and arrived piping hot! My date loved her delicious, thin crust chicken (pesto) pizza and the tiramisu we shared was quite good. After a number of recent subpar evenings at other popular local establishments we really appreciated the relatively quiet atmosphere, and attentive service. We will be back!

Everything was delicious. It was expensive, but I definitely felt like I got what I paid for. I'd say it's a great special date place. Wednesdays the bottles of wine are all 20/bottle. That was a nice benefit. Got trout with risotto which was out of this world. Also got to taste the pig and fig pizza which was awesome too. Very interesting mix of flavors!! My friend also got the mushroom truffle pizza which was good but not my favorite. If you want to keep it cheap here the pizza are 10-12 bucks a pop and are plenty for a normal sized meal.

Exceptional service and food. Everything was great! Berry salad, pig and fig pizza, flank steak, and sorbet to top it off. Great place for kids and large parties.

Nice spot, great food, good atmosphere. Service is above average. I had calamari appetizers, light breading and delicious sauce, followed by scallop entree over butternut risoto. It was excellent. Partner had flank steak with fries, also excellent. We were inside, there is also a large patio, crowded on a warm Sunday evening. I'll definitely go back.

Finally had a chance to visit Pomodoro East last week. I must say, it was an overall very good experience. We had a 7:15pm reservation and the hostess and everyone were very bubbly and quickly found a table for us. Our server was very busy but never once neglected us and made some great food recommendations. I can't remember everything we ordered or the specific names but the Speidini (sp?), onion rings/straws and Trout were exceptional. The pesto chicken pizza was a disappointment but we didn't complain. The server noticed my wife hadn't finished the pizza and comp'd it from our bill. After 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, one side and 4 drinks, we walked out for $75 before tip. Not bad at all. If you haven't tried Pomodoro East, do yourself a favor and make a reservation. We will be back very soon!

This restaurant is inconsistent at best. They have a nice patio, but it's somewhat spoiled by proximity to a busy road. Both the food and service are inconsistent: sometimes things are really good, but sometimes they're pretty bad. On the plus side, they're open on Sunday evenings when a lot of east Nashville is closed.

We got there early, so there weren't many people there yet. That gave us time to chat with our waiter, Justin, about drinks, the menu, and even the neighborhood. He did a great job of keeping us supplied with food, drink, and information. I told Justin that I was considering the veal, and he suggested the Noble Vines pinot noir, which was very nice. My wife ordered a Cosmo and thought it was one of the better ones she's had in Nashville. And my daughter really enjoyed her Manhattan. The black cherry in the bottom of the Manhattan was a nice touch. We've had some pretty bad luck with gnocchi in the past, but based on Justin's recommendation, we tried their baked gnocchi as our appetizer, and it was really good. Using semolina instead of potato made a huge difference. All of us really enjoyed our dinners. I was in a veal mood, and their veal piccata was very tasty. My wife had the Ligourian seafood stew and really liked it, but thought the clams were overcooked. My daughter had the Crespelle and loved it. I chose Pomodoro East because I read the reviews on Yelp (both good and bad) and thought it looked like a kind of place we would enjoy. We did enjoy it, so thank you, Yelpers.

Super cool place, inside is awesome looking and the patio is nice. Food was great, we had the hummus, crunchy trout, and salmon pizza. Lucky for me my girlfriend and I share. I live close to this place and I'll definitely be back. So if the experience was great why the missing star you ask? We stood at the door and nobody waited on us. We ended up awkwardly going over to the bar. Somebody should have greeted us and asked were we wanted to sit. At this moment they were not busy so there was no reason. Other than that it was a nice place to eat.

  • Melissa B.

I'll rate this a 2 only because the drinks were well crafted. Other than that, I can't really say much else was good. I ordered a salad that was never made. The manager didn't seem accommodating. Just an, "eh sorry." The happy hour specials are great, but I would rather pay $5 for something else.

Fried green tomatoes on the same menu as Spedini. Yep! Four stars with geography considered (Nashville is not known for Italian food) The interior leans more towards a pizzeria than an Italian Restaurant but don't let that fool you, this place is for real. Farm to table, and I believe it. The veggies were fresh. Party of Five Apps Eggplant Napoleon - mind blowing Spedini - They used white bread instead of semolina loaf but once we got over it the flavors burst on the scene Four Cheese Penne - One of the best we have ever had. The cheese flavor addicting Crispy Polenta - w/ bolognese (red sauce & meatball) loved it Entrees Wife had a special tomato dish which she finished (rare) Three sons had pizza - thin crust, great sauce, loved it I had tortellini w/ eggplant that screamed fresh Strawberry Shortcake. Five spoons fighting for dominance........gone in 30 seconds! Overall, this place impressed and I wouldn't hesitate to go back. If I had to complain the wine list was weak. Is it possible I'm becoming a wine snob? NOT......the wine we had was good

  • Grace G.

Let's see. Their background music seemed to be a Kings of Leon Pandora station -- every third song was KoL. The oil/vinegar dip tasted like NyQuil. The Crespelle (crepes) arrived on a very hot plate, but were cold throughout. Veggie lasagna was good, but not amazing. The most positive thing I can say was our server was good. I doubt we will ever have a desire to try this place again. I wonder what restaurant will be in this spot by next year?

Great neighborhood spot for happy hour. We sat on their outdoor patio and enjoyed their drink specials and happy hour menu. Everything we tried was delicious- couldn't pick one favorite over all. We will have to go back and try their regular dinner menu the next time we visit Nashville.

And now I have a new favorite restaurant. We sat at the bar and I had a fancy cocktail with gin, fresh juice, and muddled mint, it was incredible! Later I had a glass of the house wine, which was a very fair price for the quality (only $7, and it was a fantastic wine). The chicken and wild mushroom pizza was the best pizza I've ever had, it was full of intense flavors! They make the dough fresh, it's a hand-tossed thin crust pizza. We also tried the potato filled ravioli with lump crawfish meat and lemon sauce. Oh my goodness! It's hard to describe how delicious it was. Everything that isn't from the sea is local, raised appropriately (ie, grass fed beef, free range chicken, local veggies, etc.). So not only are you getting delicious food, it's healthy and conscientious! Oh and I almost forgot to mention, the decor is very tasteful, lots of wood beams. There is an outdoor patio as well. This would be a fantastic place to take a date, or even a large group (there is a giant table for big parties).

Went to Pomodoro East with 2 friends. We weren't sure what bottle of wine we could all agree on so the waitress gave us a few samples to pass around (very cool) and we started with that. We all got something a little different. I got a pizza that was $8-$9 and good. The cheese you could taste was super fresh but the flat bread was plain and simple. My friend got the mahi mahi that had great presentation, and she said was pretty good, and my other friend got a pasta dish half size order (you can get full or half size) the half size seemed like a true real 1 portion of pasta. We got some bread and olive oil pre meal we all scarfed down. It has an open kitchen. Real table clothes and napkins but the prices aren't that steep but I'd also say the food isn't worth more than its priced at. If you're looking for an affordable a bit nicer Italian restaurant this is it, but this isn't a place to propose to your girlfirend. A nice casual restaurant but by no means was anyone dressed up. The staff was nice but seemed a bit 'green' but could just be in part of the 'new restaurant' kinks. I'd likely go back for a weeknight dinner. I recommend making reservations as this place is pretty popular because its new. My favorite out of everything I sampled was my pizza! Hooray for local business!

Great FOOD, Great Patio and an even BETTER Happy Hour! From the Eastland Cafe family of restaurants, Pomodoro East does not disappoint! I have found a new "regular" spot for me and my husband to unwind after a long day st work!

I haven't been for dinner but I stopped in for happy hour. It started a little rough because they didn't open until 4:30pm and I showed up at 4:15. I wish they would have sat us on the patio and let us wait but instead we patiently sat on the bench outside. Once we were finally seated it went uphill. The pizza was incredible, instead of sauce they made a corn puree, added cheese, roasted corn and something else (I can't remember but I think spinach!) I had a small piece and my boyfriend ate the rest. This was because I had dinner plans and didn't want to spoil my meal. As for the happy hour drinks they have wine and champagne. Any place that has champagne for happy hour makes me a happy camper (not necessarily the net morning). I'll definitely be back for happy hour and possibly a full meal. The service was friendly and the patio has some decent neighborhood watching. We saw three crates fall out of a milk truck at the stop sign. The driver forgot to close the back door. Then we watched random people stop and collect the crates, but not the milk.

Found this place on a whim after striking out at the Silly Goose because they were closed on Sundays. Went in and the place was dead empty except for the superb and friendly staff. The food was amazing especially the Pig & Fig Pizza, such a perfect combination of sweet from the fig jam and salty from the prosciutto I had not seen on a pizza prior to eating here. However, the only reason why I took off a star is because my friend's salmon was a bit dry and the asparagus that came with it was a bit underdone. Overall, this restaurant is a great place to sit, relax, and eat some tremendously tasty food.

The interior of this space is almost unrecognizable to anyone who frequented the former Cooper's on Porter. Gone is the wall behind the bar, which now opens to show inside the kitchen. The weird booths in the middle that segmented the restaurant have been replaced by two brick columns, which gives it a much more open feel. We sat in the back, where an open garage door overlooks the patio, allowing in the fresh air while still keeping us out the rain. Their menu design needs a little work, but they have an impressive wine list, though more bottles than by the glass, and several beers in bottles, though only two drafts. We didn't get an appetizer, though they had a nice selection plus a special not on the menu. Instead, we split a Caesar salad. The dressing was really light despite coating the lettuce entirely, but could have used a little extra oomph. The croutons were made from the same bread we were served with olive oil -- nice and garlicky. Speaking of garlic, let's get to the entrees. I ordered the half portion of the potato-suffed ravioli with crawfish tails, butter and lemon. Very flavorful, with a nice garlic-laden broth of some sort as a sauce. The crawfish tails were huge, very shrimplike for what I'm used to (I'm from around here, so growing up I ate my share of "crawdaddies" that didn't resemble these at all), and the potato filling in the ravioli was basically creamy mashed potatoes -- smoother than the consistency of the usual ricotta. The ravioli was slightly undercooked on the edges, but I still inhaled it. And a great deal for only $9 ($17 for a full portion). He tried the pizza with lamb sausage, fennel, tomatoes and arugula. Not too crusty, but not cracker-thin (we both prefer a crust on the thinner side), and generous with the toppings, though a little skimpy on the sauce, but that may be their style. No complaints -- and at $11, a decent deal for gourmet pizza. We arrived around 6:30 on a Friday night and were sat immediately, though probably just in the nick of time, since there was a huge line out the door when we left. As far as service goes (since I've seen complaints), our drinks took a while to arrive, but our server was very apologetic. And at least two other people (owners?) stopped by during the course of our meal to ask how everything was -- I imagine they just want to make a good first impression, which they certainly did. When our food didn't arrive as soon as she had promised, our server offered to buy us a second round of drinks, even though we weren't complaining. And then our food arrived immediately after that. So ... free drinks for not-really-that-slow service? I'll definitely be back. Although to second another reviewer... where was the hostess stand? And more importantly, this place needs a website, or at the very least a Facebook page. I know it's owned by the same folks who run Eastland Cafe, so I figure they are just trying to do a soft opening for a few weeks before they start heavy promotions, but if it weren't for a food blogger posting about them, I wouldn't have known they were open.

We were eating light so we did not have a big meal. The salads were good not great. Crepe my son had was good not great. Desserts were excellent. Service was good. Server forgot my coffee at the end. I liked the decor. Would return again.

I was sad when Cooper's closed, but now I am oh-so-very happy. I had yet to find an Italian place in all of Nashville that I really liked, and now I have this amazing place blocks from my house. The inside has been redone and is much lighter and brighter. I sat at the bar, which has an excellent view of the brick oven and the kitchen. The bartender, Quentin, was fantastic. My water was never less than half full and he was just prompt and attentive with my entire meal. The gnocchi starter is hands down the most delicious gnocchi to be found in these parts. The house salad is a nice blend of raddichio and greens with roasted red peppers, onions and olives. Perfectly dressed and seasoned. The bread is fresh and served with flavorful olive oil (I kind of wanted to order a glass of it, neat). I had the crab ravioli as an entree; it was tasty but a bit on the salty side, which is right up my alley, but if you're watching sodium, you may want to skip it. I guilt-ordered my working-late hubby the pork to go and he loved it. Perfectly cooked at medium, excellent flavor and well-complemented with a square of polenta. Nice selection of wines by the glass and the housemade limoncello was the perfect cap to the my meal. If you decide to check this place out, you'll probably see me at the bar. I have a feeling I'm going to be quite the Norm at this place. Kid-friendly too.

I ate at Pomodoro East for the first time with a friend visiting from Philly. It was recommended by a co-worker and I had been wanting to check it out. It wasn't busy when we arrived which is rare for East Nashville restaurants. We decided to come also because it was $20 bottle of wine night (no brainer). We had a nice server and ordered a bottle of wine and the Spiedini for an appetizer. It was delicious. Then we both ended up ordering the Bolognese. It was ok. Not the best I've had. The pasta was tasty but the sauce was just ok. I was looking for something more because the waitress had said it was one of her favorites. I'll go back, but will order something else. I liked the atmosphere and the appetizer and of course the wine special. I'd like to try dessert next time. I'll probably come for the happy hour menu next time or either the brunch, it sounded interesting.

Not my kind of place. Service was not bad but definitely a little preoccupied with getting ready for something or someone else....even though there was only 1 other table occupied in the place at the time. No thanks.

I had dinner recently recently and was extremely pleased. Our service was excellent. The remodel is amazing and it's very warm and inviting with the authentic pizza oven and a nice bar. Three of us shared the gnocchi, salmon pizza and flounder. The gnocchi was very different, made from semolina flour and sprinkled with cheese. We loved it. The flounder was incredible and the salmon pizza was very nice. I'm just not a big salmon fan. It's nice that you can go and get a gourmet pizza for $10. All in all, I thought it was great and can't wait to go back.

This was our first visit. After tasting hors d'oeuvres from Pomodoro East at IL CARNIVALE, my partner decided that this was where he wanted his to have his birthday party. I made the reservations 3 weeks in advance for a party of 14, and called an hour prior to notify them of last minute changes to the guest list reducing out party to 12. I also asked if it would be okay to bring a birthday cake and was told that would be fine. They were gracious enough to call me back immediately to let me know about the $1 per person cake fee. I have to admit this was a new one for me, but after a bit of research, I discovered that although most American dining customers think a cake fee is ridiculous, its now a very common practice across the country, and has made its way to Nashville. As for the cost of $1 per person, that appears to be a bargain compared to elsewhere in the nation, where the going rate is $1.50 to $2.50. Take your bargains where you can. That's the last one you get at Pomodoro East. Although the table tops are spacious and comfortable, its negated by so many of them being in such a small space. We were seated in what seemed like the front doorway and, as the night progressed, became packed in like livestock in a cattle car. The bar was 3 feet behind my chair, and I was bumped and had to move many times throughout the evening, I also could not get comfortable because the location of the table legs required me to keep my feet to the side of my chair. Their beer and wine prices are ridiculously high for the selection. I tried to find a more polite way to phrase it, but there is no getting around it. I also observed that those among our party that ordered wine by the bottle received better drinks service than those of us who had ordered glass of wine and then switched to water. Refills were slow to say the least. Actually, all service was slow, but we debated on whether that was because of the servers themselves or because of the shortage in floor staff. We had two very friendly servers for our party, but they also waited on other tables with large parties, and it seemed that one didn't know what the other had done. They attempted to take our orders twice. It would been better to have had one dedicated server that we could have more easily found throughout the evening. All of the appetizers were unbelievably tasty, but do not order one as your main course unless you ate just prior to arrival. It is truly an appetizer portion. The two people who ordered appetizers as their meal, added a side once they saw the size of the appetizers when they arrived. The salads were also very good, but the FRIED GOAT CHEESE SALAD is really a misnomer. There was minimal goat cheese. After the main course, it was the table consensus that the food is some of the best we've ever tasted. If only, everything else had been so nice. At precisely the Two Hour mark, it became apparent that they were wondering how quickly we were going to vacate, although one member of the party was still in the middle of her meal because of a kitchen mix-up. When the bills came, they had charged the cake fee. Although I knew about it in advance and asked that the fee for everyone be charged to my tab, the server had no prior knowledge of any such fee, so I'm guessing we may have been the first. The most asinine part of the visit was saved for last: the 20% gratuity added. Everyone's jaws dropped! After the lackluster service, I can assure that not another penny was added at my end of the table. As friendly as the staff is, and as amazing as the food tastes, the balance of the visit was mediocre at best. I feel it necessary to reiterate that it was some of the BEST FOOD we have EVER eaten!

Definitely didn't live up to the hype or execute their ambitious menu with any real flair. Service was average, a little awkward and crowded floor. Cocktails were ok, and came after sitting on the bar a little too long, with melted ice and poor blending. They seated us at a table barely big enough for two with our 5th person sitting in the serving aisle even though we had reservations. My chair rubbed against the persons behind me all night and couldn't get out to use bathroom without climbing over people. Food was lukewarm in spots, literally as well as metaphorically, my ossobuco was actually cold in spots. The salads were well done and the cheese good but portion far too small for the money. Wine list is excellent and reasonably limited. Bar service was great and friendly, and appetizers were good but not very imaginative. The panna cotta was a gelatine loaded milk product, not the velvety semi firm creation it can be. The chocolate pave was a little dry and average side sauces. Nothing special.

Last night we had dinner at Pomodoro East after hearing mixed reviews from our friends. The hostess said they had reservations coming in, so we could choose to sit at the bar. One of the first things I noticed were the beer prices. They are the highest I've seen in Nashville! Some examples: $7 for a draught Blackstone or Fat Bottom and $5 Yuengling bottles. We opted for water. For dinner my wife and I ordered pizzas. The pizza prices are reasonable and I'm a big fan of wood oven pizza, especially Bella Nashville in the Farmer's Market (YUM!). I had the pork and fennel sausage, and my wife had the corn puree. Both were too heavy on the cheese and it really dominated the dish. Both were just "meh" For dessert, we ordered the bombolini. The donuts were fine, but the dough was a bit dense for my liking. I didn't care for the vanilla gelato, it was very icy, but the lemon curd was good. There just wasn't enough of it! We had an ok time, and ok food. We'll probably come back for happy hour in the future (we live just down the street) but I don't have much desire to come back for dinner. It's just not worth the cost. On a side note, the bartender was great! She was very friendly and attentive and didn't treat us differently because we didn't order drinks. She gets 5 stars.

My boyfriend, his parents, and I ventured to Pomodoro East on a Thursday night around 8:30. We were one of three parties there. The food took a little while to come out but the chef brought out amuse-bouche for our wait. The entrees leaned a bit on the pricey side but that was redeemed by the flavors and high quality of the ingredients! Also, the salad greens and vegetables were incredibly fresh. I asked about allergen friendly dishes and our server was very knowledgeable about vegetarian/vegan/gluten-free options! It was a great visit and we were very impressed! In fact, we made it back there a second time that week! We'll definitely be back again!

I wonder why it's taken me so long to give Pomodoro East a try? I loved Coopers, so I guess I was just a little sad it was gone and I needed some time to mourn. Now, however, the grieving is officially over! East Nashville badly needed a good Italian restaurant. There's really nothing on this side of town that boasts good Italian food. We were driving all the way to Hendersonville to go to Carrabba's when the Italian cravings hit us, but we probably won't anymore. We went during happy hour after a day out working around town. We arrived starving and on the brink of starting the obligatory January detox diet, so we were ready to chow down like there was no tomorrow (at least no tomorrow that involved pasta!). Happy hour is fun! Five dollar wines and cocktails, and five dollar appetizers. We stuck mostly to this menu and ordered in stages until we got full. The pizza was lovely - I like a thin crust, so its crispiness didn't upset me - and the speidini was just simply heavenly, but how can pan fried triangles of cheese covered in lemon butter sauce be anything other than divine? Our waiter was great. He was conversational, and picked up on our cues quickly that we were there to stay a while, to talk, and to taste. He didn't pressure us or hurry us, and he kept our glasses filled. I can't wait to go back and take family and friends for real dinner, not just happy hour. We didn't try entrees, but some day in the non detox-diet future, I will return and do the rest of the menu justice!

Fantastic place, fantastic staff and all around great dining experience. Had out of towners in and was recommended this place. We ate, drank, spilled and broke glasses and had a fantastic and beautiful waitress named Jennifer who dealt with us all graciously. Food was fantastic. A lot of great restaurants in East Nashville, and this is another one to add to the list. Go eat there.

We had gone before and like the wine, appetizers, and service. They had just opened. However, stagnation has set in. They were not that busy, we waited 15 minutes to talk to the hostess, then 20 minutes sitting at the bar. The completely disinterested bar "tender". Was unconcerned about his bar patrons. We finally got up and left.

Atmosphere and service were excellent. Wine was nice and everyone at the table of six enjoyed their cocktails and dessert I got mixed reports on entries. The steak got raves but the trout dish was too salty and a little tough, that said I ate it all. I enjoy this restaurant but occasionally the entries miss their mark. But go an enjoy. THH

I love this place. We always have a good meal here and leave happy. We typically share an entree and stack up on the sides and appetizers. I tried a new drink this time. It was called the hot and dirty. Pomodoro actually infuses their vodka with some chills and serve it dirty martini style. It was delicious with the Carpaciao. Reservations are recommended but I have also had them accommodate me on the spur of the moment. Try this place out.

Pomodoro East provided my wife and me with one of the best meals we had eaten in months. We went to celebrate our anniversary and were warmly greeted even though we had two small children in tow and Pomodoro East is a fine dining restaurant. We arrived early enough to sample some of the items from the Happy Hour Menu and were blown away by the wood fired pizza. Seriously, if that was all you ever ordered at PE I do not think you would be unhappy. Thin, crispy, and exploding with flavor, it was the best I have had in Nashville. The fried zuchinni was not nearly as good, but the baked oysters were fantastic. For our main course we split the clam pasta. It was very well executed with a great balance of garlic, wine and a hit of heat. Our son even managed to wipe out his entire portion of spaghetti and meatballs before I could even swipe a taste. The tiarmasu was good, but did not blow our hair back, (maybe because we were stuffed to the rim at that point) Overall the food was excellent. If I could pick one place to be critical it might be in the cocktail department. I had a ginger manhattan (?) and it was way to sweet for my taste. Not bad necessarily, but not what I go for. The rest of the cocktail menu looked similar so I stuck with the wine for the rest of the night. Pomodoro East is a great addition to the Eastside dining landscape. I can't quite go the full five stars because it is not quite on the level of the best places in town, but the Pizzas and happy hour win it a place in my heart for sure. I will be back to claim a seat on that patio come the warm weather and work my way through a few more of those pizzas and glasses of wine.

This is a very cute restaurant located near Eastland in E Nashville. The olive appetizer was delish & my entree (the spinach crêpes) were also. What really set my dish apart was the hand pulled mozzarella. I love little things that are done to the dishes to really elevate the flavor. Our server was also very friendly & on top of it, even when I came on a busy night to support Nashville Cares.

Wonderful happy hour and awesome service! We frequent happy hours and this is one of the best in Nashville. Our server, Phil was incredibly kind, efficient and down to earth which we love... we can't stand places where the servers are unfriendly and/or snooty. There is a really nice deck where you can enjoy the outdoors while you sip your drinks and eat the yummy dishes for just $5 each! We had the spiedini, the four cheese penne and the pesto flatbread and they were all very good. I highly recommend you giving this place a try!

The interior of this space has been completely redone from when it was Cooper's. Nice casual upscale feel and menu options offering Italian options way beyond what you'll find at a Maggiano's. A great option for East Nashville with a very full wine list. Wait staff is very attentive and accommodating, so feel at ease going in. Definitely worth a try. We had a great time on the patio.

My wife and I live in the neighborhood, and never thought Coopers sounded interesting. Glad there is something more appealing in the spot. We tried Pomodoro East last night, and had a pretty solid experience. The wait staff seemed a little scattered from the get go. Multiple waiters coming by our table, one asking "have you been helped?". Water and bread were tough to come by, but, as with any new establishment, some kinks in the flow of food and drink can be forgiven. The servers seemed to know they were in the weeds, which only makes things uncomfortable, in my opinion. The back door was open, and we sat inside. Something about the way the sun was beating down on the building as it set, the door being open and the fire roaring in the pizza oven that made the interior quite warm. No doubt the fall and winter season will feel fantastic in the building. The food itself was perfectly cooked. Asparagus appetizer was great, fresh flavors and very light. Caesar salad made us question the "farm to table" tag atop the menu; reminded me of something Dole puts in a bag. Was good, but, not $8 good. No anchovies or even the hint of anchovies. Pasta special (in place of the risotto on the menu) was good. Pasta was cooked perfectly, shrimp had a nice smokey flavor and the sauce was light, peppery and flavorful with razor-thin strips of garlic. Liked it, but will try something else next time. Pizza was perfect. The crust is as good as it gets in a wood-fire oven, and the cheeses and seasonings were balanced perfectly. Absolutely the best part of the meal, and something we will go back for. Already excited to try some of the more experimental pizzas on the menu, namely the salmon, caper and onion. Roughly $65 for the two of us. Will go back and will order the same kind of courses; will skip the Caesar salad.

Two words: Over. Priced. I was largely underwhelmed by the food here, and I was seriously looking forward to having a great new restaurant in my neighborhood. The standout dish for me was the pickled Georgia peach salad... yep, a SALAD. If you know anything about my eating habits, you'd think it's a little odd that I said the salad was the big winner. The pork chop was tough, flavorless, and if it weren't for the tasty white bean and bacon side I would say this dish was a major flop. And our pizza, with artichokes and goat cheese, well, uh, it had artichoke leaves on it. Yes, leaves. Not the fully cooked inside, and not the hearts, but the leaves. Not wanting to disgust my dinner guests by spitting it out, I reluctantly chewed and swallowed one down. And that was the end of that. So sad that our neighborhood has yet another grand opportunity for great restaurants missed. (Note: I will say that our waiter was extremely friendly, and the two stars here are really for him.)

We came here the other night for a girl's night and had a wonderful experience! We ordered several appetizers and had a lovely Spanish wine the server suggested. The Spiedini was my favorite! I went with the grilled shrimp over a pesto pasta which was the special that night and was not disappointed. It was delicious. The service was a 10 and so was the food. We cannot wait to come back with warm weather and take advantage of their awesome Happy Hour menu on the Patio!

for my first visit the meal was considered blah at best. i ordered the flounder and spinach. i attempted to order caprese flat-bread but was informed that they don't serve it at night. the fish was seasoned in what tasted like dry pancake batter, kinda sweet tasting without a hint of salt or any other spice. my spinach was ok. i am not used to mine having yellow raisins and nuts in it but, whatever. it would have been alot better if the spinach had been cooked to order. it tasted as if it had been cooked earlier that day (at least it wasn't canned) ...but then again... i visited the restaurant because it just screams COME IN when you pass by. unfortunately it doesn't scream loud enough to keep ya coming back.

We were there in a group of 5 with 2 kids late on a Tuesday evening. The staff were very accomodating and we got to sit outside on the beautiful deck with great weather. We had the Salumi (cold cuts) and the Calamari appetizers. The calamari was probably one of the better ones I've had in Nashville, well-seasoned batter and crisp, calamari was tender and not over-fried. For entrees, we got the braised pork shank, roasted lamb, braised beef, linguine with shrimp in butter sauce, and lamb sausage with fennel pizza. We had a wait for quite a while for our entrees to be brought out (at least half and hour from our ordering time). I would start by saying that the Braised Pork Shank and the Lamb Sausage with fennel pizza were by far everyone's favorites. The pork shank was very tender, "falls off the bone with a spoon", and more importantly, well seasoned, the aromas permeated through to the deepest layers of meat. IF there's anything negative to be said, it might be that the taste is powerful and may be too overwhelming for some to finish the entire shank. I like thin and light crust pizzas. The lamb sausage pizza was exactly that and the lamb sausage was lightly seasoned (I've had lamb sausages that were often over seasoned). Unfortunately, the braised beef and roasted lamb came out cold (the sauce on my roasted lamb already had a congealed layer on top) and the beef was overcooked. The waiter was apologetic and compensated us with a dessert. We weren't sure if the slow delivery of our entrees was because it was late on a Tuesday night, but there were only about 5 tables occupied at that time. Overall, the wait service was good, the atmosphere and especially the outdoor seating was wonderful. It was unfortunate the half of our food was disappointing. I'm only giving it 3 stars for now, I will give the restaurant another try if possible.

I was hoping to be pleasantly surprised upon going to Pomodoro East a few weeks ago with my fiance and friend yet was completely underwhelmed. We sat out on the patio because no one was really sitting indoors and I have to give them points for having a nice patio. My friend ordered Shrimp on linguine pasta which she said was just so so and sorta bland. My fiance and I both got pizzas and they both just had a funny taste/flavor to them. I don't know what they were trying to accomplish by making their crust like a cracker except by having a very thin crust but we both felt the same way... it was missing something.. the flavors were off. For the prices that they have the food set at.. I honestly expected more. I also paid $6.50 for a rum and diet coke in a tiny glass. Safe to say I won't be going back! I would go to City House, Cafe Nona or even Mafiozas if you're looking for Italian!

My friends and I ate at Pomodoro earlier this month after hearing rave reviews for what seemed liked ages, so we wanted to see what all the fuss was about...and if it was merited. Our conclusion? It was. Ross was our server, a tall, good-looking drink of water, which is always a plus in my book. Beyond that, he knew his stuff. I'm the type that likes to gauge the staff's opinion on things, what their favorite dishes are, etc. and Ross didn't disappoint. He suggested we start with the spiedini and some special appetizer I can't even remember, other than the fact that it was delicious. Impressed with the first round, I decided to press on with another in-house recommendation. Two words: Pork loin. This was a tough sell, since I'm usually a steak girl, but the dish, served with asparagus, some sort of delicious risotto, topped with parmesan cheese and a balsamic glaze, was probably the best pork dish I've ever eaten. (I realize I'm being pretty hyperbolic here but, it's true.) Oh! And I skipped over the grilled peach salad. Word to the wise: Don't miss this. All in all, we had a great night, well-made drinks, a wonderful meal and super-friendly/knowledgeable service. Pomodoro lived up to the hype as far as we're concerned. So you and yours...eat here. Soon.

Absolutely fantastic!!! From the moment I waked in, I was impressed. The dining room feels spacious and inviting. The atmosphere is clean and elegant. The restaurant has an immediate sense of sophistication which makes me wonder what the menu will bring. I want this place to be good. I want it to succeed. I live next door and I already feel hopeful. Without even looking at the menu, I already know that I am going to be impressed. First impressions walking in are really that good. The menu does not disappoint. There are quite a few items that I want to try. I started with the Carpaccio and my friend had the Calamari. Both were superb. The Carpaccio was really focused on the meat. The flavor, quality, and temperature (it was fantastically cold) of the raw beef were great. The Calamari was also excellent. It may have been one of the best ones I have tried, remaining light while being deep fried and served with a great sauce. Next was the Mushroom Pasta with Braise Rabbit. We both had that. An A+ dish. I can't remember when I last had rabbit, but I was very pleased. The pasta was very well prepared and the mushroom sauce complemented the rabbit well. I will order it again and I finished it quickly. Next I had the Risotto with shrimp. At this point, I was getting a little full. I've never had Risotto before, and it was good, but not quite my thing. I can't say anything was wrong with it, but I like to try everything. For desert, I ordered the Shiva (spelling??) which was indescribably mindbogglingly good. This was a chocolate based slice of some sort of cake with cherries and other contrasting flavors. Served with a light sauce and some whipped cream. I ate it in a hurry. Holy crap that was good. I am so happy that this was such a good experience. I want to try everything on the menu but next time (which will be tomorrow, lol), I will try to order a more balanced meal instead of two pasta dishes in a row. Additionally, our waitress was friendly and service was great. It was also really nice to have the chef visit out table. This was an A+ experience that must be tried by everyone.

Stopped by here last week on date night, we really enjoyed ourselves. The Hubs and I shared the calamari, which we may go back just to have cocktails and calamari! My Vodka Martini was spot on, but then again it's kinda' hard to screw one of those up. The goat cheese, artichoke pizza was ok. For a brick fire oven the dough was off, the ingredients for the toppings were quality, there was just something about the dough. Almost like it wasn't cooked enough.t We then shared the "spaghetti" which essentially shrimp scampi. I wished it was a bit more garlicy, but that's just our preference. We could eat garlic on or in just about anything. All in we left stuffed and happy. The decor is nice and there is a patio that we want to check out before summer ends. Is this place out go to for Italian in the city? No. Will we eat here again? Probably yes. They're doing a great job, and we like to support local business.

I'm going between 3 & 4 stars, but can't decide. My husband and I decided to stop in on a Saturday afternoon (around 5pm), which is happy hour. The server, who passed our table multiple times, ignored us until my husband went inside to ask for a server. He apologized and said that it's the "happy hour rush" - um...really? It's not THAT busy, plus you just passed our table 4 times. Apparently he couldn't be bothered to stop to say hi or take a quick drink order. Anyway, we ordered the cucumber mint martini and the pomegranate martini off the happy hour menu (so only $5). The cucumber martini was pretty good, I'd give it 4 stars, but the pomegranate was awful. For food, we ordered the spaghetti, which was actually great! It was in a pesto sauce and was delicious. Unfortunately, it was a very small portion, granted it was off the happy hour menu, but the other items were much bigger. We also got the cheese pizza, which was pretty good, but a lot of oil was hanging out on top. Finally, we had the calzone, which lacked flavor and was just ok. So overall, it was ok. Would I go back? Probably not since there are plenty of other restaurants in a similar price range that are much better in the area.

Chicken Parmesan you won't regret. To me, this is a hidden gem in East Nashville..

It gets two stars because the deck is great and the bottle of wine I chose was really nice. Beyond that it's a one or lower. We were seated by the general manager and then waited a long time for a server. Waited again for her to come back. Waited again for the wine. And then waited for much too long for below average food. We asked that appetizer and salads come together and they did not. The shrimp was not deveined. What read as a octopus, squid and shrimp salad was hot with a cream based sauce; most often known as a small appetizer or entree. There was no octopus and absolutely was not a salad. Other than the wine and the company the evening was a bust...and an expensive one at that. And, the place wasn't even half full. Go for drinks and enjoy the patio but there are MANY other eateries in Nashville with far better food and service.

Great food and great service. My husband had chicken parmesan which was as big as his plate. Great leftovers. Our son had limoncello pork and he all but licked his plate. I had the chicken pizza with pesto, which was awesome--also great leftovers. This was our third time there, and we will be back.

Go here! We will be back. Server (Nick) was very attentive. Items are priced quite well. We'd probably pay a dollar more for many menu items, honestly. We started with the sausage and fennel pizza, which was really quite good! The zucchini and onion lasagna was quite impressive as well. The zucchini isn't cooked until soft, but has a slight bit to it which is a nice contrast with the other ingredients. I had the small portion of lasagna following the pickled peach salad. The smaller size of pasta is really a nice option and it plenty in my opinion, when ordering other items. My husband had the baked gnocchi, (buttery and delicious) and the smaller portion of the rabbit tagliatelle. The pasta was fresh and light. The dish had rich flavors, without being heavy. Also, my husband ordered the Montepulciano by the glass and the server was nice enough to offer a taste before he ordered. Hope to see a website soon, so more people can find out about this place!

I went with high hopes, but they were not met. For some reason, the entire staff seemed to be miserable to be there. We had to remind our waiter several times for things we had ordered. The food was mediocre.

Sorry to say the pizza was floppy, too much cheese. when you call it margherita its supposed to have fresh mozarella not dry mozarella. Take care to choose the right brand too. If you are going to have pizza learn how to do it italian style:) the gnocchi was the best part and is something positive i can say. Your staff needs to be more professional. Also sorry to say that the espresso wasnt made right. All i can say on that is go online or check out how the local bongo java makes theirs. Yours is totally wrong honestly. It should be shorter . the staff needs to know to give a small espresso spoon and offer sugar. if i were you i would invest in small espresso spoons and natural sugar cubes plus actually take care to get good espresso. You arent alone though because Nashville needs some authentic Italians to open a real authentic Italian (not american italian) restaurant. Nice ambience though.

I have been twice now and not really knocked out. I understand it has only been 3 weeks since you opened but.....the food is just not balanced. Finishing sauces are bland or too much salt. This time I had the veal and it was really fatty and overly breaded. I ate half and finished the potatoes. I SO want this to be better......but nothing is knocking my socks off. The calamari was not so great and braised beef was overcooked. Wine list is really good, but waiter doesn't really know how to explain what the wines are about. That needs to be a prerequisite with waiters!!! C'mon you guys.......I really think you can do better...... your other restaurants are!!

I've had mixed experiences at Pomodoro East with both the food and the wait staff. However, I love to sit outside on the deck on a lovely day and enjoy their Happy Hour wine and appetizers. We were fortunate enough to get a great waitress named Tamara on the last visit. She did a wonderful job and was very pleasant. (MUCH unlike the waiters at the Eastland Cafe, who can be quite snobbish.) The food is "OK" for the price, but I go more for the atmosphere and because it's close to home.

I went to Pomodoro East this week for the first time. I would have given them four stars but there were a few quirky things with my order so I chose three. We managed to visit during their happy hour which was very nice. We choose 2 of the $5 app specials, the calzone and the fried zucchini. I enjoyed the fried zucchini although I wasn't a fan of the dipping sauce (tomato based). It was served cold which I wasn't sure if that was meant to be. I think it was supposed to be hot. The calzone was quite delicious with caramelized onions and cheese. However, as we got to the fatter middle section, I bit into some pieces that were definitely doughy and undercooked. It definitely needed to be cooked a little longer. Next came the Caesar Salad. It was a good sized portion like the other dishes. I simply prefer more garlicky flavor. It wasn't as spicy as I prefer. Next we ordered the pork and fennel sausage pizza. It was dynamite and my favorite thing on the menu for sure! Finally, we finished with 2 espressos and the completely decadent Bombolini (fried donuts with dipping sauce and a scoop of vanilla icing). I didn't like the espresso, found it to be very thin and very weak. However, the dessert was enough to bring me back for sure. As far as the space, it is warm. The wooden chairs would probably get uncomfortable eventually but it has a nice style. There is also an outdoor seating area that would be very nice in warmer nights. *Definitely check out their happy hour! It's worth the price.

I am a fussy Italian that likes to have pasta cooked the correct way . This restaurant cook angel hair pasta as it should be. The capillini pomodoro has excellent take and flavor. The house salad was superb with roasted pepper, greens, olives, feta and caramelized onions. Very well done. I would return again.

have to say peeps, since discovering the Happy Hour, I am all over this place $5 martinis and appetizers of a high quality, super efficient and attentive bar service, great VFM, actually better than their sisters. Pizza super crispy, zuchinni slices yummy, drinks strong enough ! Did try the sit down at the table experience again and did not enjoy it, service poorer, the bar thing rocks

All Italian including classic pizza, good Italian wine and fresh pastas bring the out-of-the-way building on Porter to life. Prices are toward the upper end for this part of east Nashville but considering the success of quality spots like Holland House they will probably succeed. Prices aren't more than Vitos, another new Italian restaurant, but the Pomodoro quality is several levels abovestruggling Vitos. The waistaff is proper, the atmosphere subdued, so to me that makes dishes like the stuffed ravioli pasta with crawfish we enjoyed what is most memorable.

My wife and I decided to stop by here for our date on friday night without a reservation. We had called earlier in the day but they were booked up until 9. We were strongly encouraged to come out though and something might be open. When we arrived, just after sitting down at the bar to wait for something to open, there was a table that opened up outside on the patio. It was perfect weather so we didn't mind. Great music played the whole time we were there as well We were greeted by our waiter who was very pleasant with helping us with a bottled wine selection. We decided on a bottle of Cannonau di Sardegna after consulting with the waiter, who seemed to be pretty knowledge about wine especially the wines that they were serving. We got a tuna carpaccio app that was not on the menu but sounded great when described by the waiter. For our main courses, my wife got full order of the Potato stuffed ravioli and I got the Brasato al Barolo, a beef dish. The tuna carpaccio was so tasty and truly just an all around refreshing appetizer. The Potato stuffed ravioli was very good. Potato pasta can be a little bland or plain by itself but along with the butter/lemon and crawfish tails, their flavor was just all the more enhanced. My dish, the Brasato al Barolo was superb. The meat was very tender and had a very savory taste. The mashed potatoes that came with the dish were as up to par with beef and completed this dish very well. For dessert, after a hard decision, we settled on getting the tiramisu, which we were kind of nervous about. The tiramisu was fabulous and it reinspired my wife and I to not lose hope in getting great desserts out. Overall the meal was one of the best that we've had in Nashville and it was just an overall great dining experience. We also very much enjoyed the bottle of wine that we finished off throughout the meal. We are so proud to have this restaurant on the East Side.

First and foremost, I absolutely love that we have yet another strong, independent restaurant in East. Keep it coming! We were surprised to find a crowd on a rainy Sunday night, but we had a table within five minutes. We split the salumi appetizer, which was very good. I had the ravioli which ranked among the three best pasta dishes I've ever had in Nashville. Delicious. Great dessert, and a couple of excellent glasses of wine. My wife wasn't as happy with her entree, which didn't have as much depth of flavor as mine (but was cooked perfectly nonetheless). The only real negatives were the very dry foccacia and the music which was too loud to allow for comfortable conversation. Will be back again soon.

My husband and I decided to check Pomodoro East out last Friday, we started with the best margarita that I've had in this city, in my opinion. For an appetizer we had the calamari which I thought was yummy! For dinner the leg of lamb w risotto and the rabbit with pasta entrees. They both lived up to the expectation. I had read lots of reviews prior to going and all I can say is I wish I lived closer. This place was very good. Great patio and the inside was very cool too.

Delizioso! The critiques of the previous poster (Russel) are completely unwarranted. Some people just love to scream their opinions in CAPS!!!! Let's begin MY critique (of the previous critique) based on my recent visit: 1) The previous rant is sexist. There is a host(ess) stand now. The host sat us quickly with no problems. 2) There was no sign of a clueless waitress. Our waiter, Daryl, recommended a delicious choice of beef and porcini: brasato al barolo. He was great. 3) So much talk of plagues and death. Step 1: Calm down... The pizza was great. Step 2: please, please order a pizza in Italy before you critique authentic crusts. Step 3: Go back to Pomodoro and jump over the edge of the porch. Mind the "descent"... 4 and 5) I can't comment on your problems here; I didn't order the same menu items. However, I'm sure that you are not exaggerating. Everything else that you've posted seems unbiased and without drama. In appreciation of your caps lock scream: I'M GLAD THAT JENNI'S WAS SO GOOD. POMODORO IS NOT AN ICE CREAM PLACE. HOW IS THIS RELEVANT? Finally, I'm pretty sure that Gordon Ramsey would block your number if you brought up your unfounded and shallow critiques. There is no way that you "wanted to like this place." This is a good restaurant, and I hope that a lot more people offer their opinions rather than dismiss this place based on your rant.

I love good Italian food and this place serves it up big time! Been there several times and everything I've ordered has a fabulous home-made taste. That big roaring brick oven makes yummy pizza! Obviously there is great attention paid to using quality ingredients. It's also a very place to be for Happy Hour! 5 stars in my book! Joie S.

The food was fine but the service was bad. The waitress was too busy with other tables and forgot about us. The flat iron steak and the roast chicken pizza tasted okay but they were cold by the time they came. The manager took it back to reheat it; however, the food no longer tasted the same. The manager apologized and explained to me the steak was not hot because of the watermelon relish as if I have never eaten steak before. The most disapointing thing is they no longer have carpaccio which is now substituted by tomato carpaccio. Tomato carpaccio, seriously?

I came here for my birthday with my 3 sisters. We sat on the patio - which was awesome. We shared the calamari appetizer. It was yummy. The wine list was good & our waiter made a good wine suggestion. 2 of us got the mahi (to include me). It was good but I thought it was under-seasoned. The beef medallions were flavorful. The chicken scallopini was good but it came with a boring side of plain arugula. Hello, Spaghetti? Our bill was $145 plus tip. It was good but nothing too special. Note: I consider myself something of a foodie. I eat out a lot at restaurants across the country. My sisters were more positive in their review. The best thing was the service. We did not wait for anything & our server was super nice. Parking was awful. We ended up parking on a side street & walking. I hear the pizzas are great. They did sound interesting. I will be back.

I had a really great evening here last night. We can in at 9p and it was busy, but not loud. Our server was very attentive the entire time and the food was very good. I had the calamari (semolina crust instead of tempura), pizza with arugula, fennel, cheese, tomato and lamb sausage, and two cocktails which were both nicely balanced. The table to our right had a young man with a mohawk and a Ramones shirt, and the table to our left had an older couple in suits. Ah, East Nashville. They seemed to have it together and the food was very good. I will be back.

Service was absolutely terrible. Ran out of pizza. How do you run out of pizza at a place 'famous' for its pizza. The staff was running around with no direction. This place is terrible.

First, hard to complain about a place that offers a Sunday happy hour. My wife and I stopped in for appetizers and drinks this past Sunday. She loved the eggplant sliders and I thought the pizza was very good. And, for just $5, the pizza app was large enough for a meal. Service was friendly. Deck is awesome. This will be part of my East Nashville rotation.

Really excited to have an Italian restaurant within walking distance, but surprised to find just mediocre food. Cappelini Pomodoro had an overpowering taste of salt with a hint of garlic. The only saving grace was the wine and pizza

We used to frequent Coopers A LOT and was sad to see it go. Pomodoro's did not disappoint though. We ordered the Rabbit Marsala pasta and the Roasted Chicken and Wild Mushroom pizza. The pasta was fresh and very tasty (1/2 order was plenty); the pizza had a thin crust and was very delicious- the flavor was just right. I was unsure what wine I wanted, so the waiter brought out a sip of their Chianti- it was wonderful. Service was great, bread before the meal was soft and came with olive oil/balsamic. Perfect night to sit on the patio and enjoy the neighborhood! We will go back.

Our first visit to Pomodoro East and we will be back! We had reservations and were seated promptly. We immediately loved the atmosphere. Almost loftish, but warmed up with reclaimed wood, stone, hardwood floors and interesting lighting...loved the feel. Vibrant vibe, and pretty loud, but that didn't bother us. Very good service. I ordered a cosmo, which was perfectly blended. He ordered one of the specialty drinks, I think, a Manhattan. We started with the portobello mushroom appetizer...Yum! Next we had the fried goat cheese salad...OMG we couldn't stop raving. The colors, textures and flavors melded together to make one of the best salads we've ever tasted! The crunch of the fennel, gooey warm goat cheese, sweetness of the field greens and apples. Add the roasted squash and rosemary almonds and it was heavenly. The treat continued with our entrees. I had the sauteed shrimp, kind of an Italian take on shrimp and grits. Excellent with creamy polenta and shrimp cooked just right. My husband ordered the crespelle, which was crepes filled with ricotta cheese, spinach and carmelized onions. He loved it! We had a couple of glasses of Italian wine. Our only wish was that there was one more level up of Italian wines by the glass. We can't wait to return!!!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
