Usually, I am pretty plain when it comes to subs. I always get turkey and provolone, with all the stuff (lettuce, tomato, onion, etc...) Lenny's turkey sub is pretty good. I personally prefer Jersey Mike's turkey sub, mainly because I love the oil and red wine vinegar. But, if you like an Italian sub--Lenny's can't be beat! It's definitely authentic, and the hot peppers are SO good! Lenny's is definitely cleaner than any sub joint I've been to. Makes subway look like filth. And it honestly makes Jersey Mike's look a little sub-par, in regard to cleanliness and freshness.

Lenny's is more your traditional sub shop. You will not get many of the frills that you might with Subway or Firehouse (AKA toasting, grilling, soups, pizzas, etc.). If you are looking for a great cold-meat sandwich with fresh, quality meat, cheese, and bread then Lenny's is more your style. It does seem like the sizing of the sub are strange. If I remember correctly you can get a regular bun-sized sandwich, a 7" regular sub, or a 15" large sub. I was wanting to split the sub with my fiancé and the regular seemed too small and the large was a little more food than we were expecting. It might just be that the traditional 6" and 12" subs from good ole' Subway are what I'm used to. Whatever. Staff is not friendly, not rude..just there to slice some meat. And for the love of god, TURN UP THE HEAT! It had to be 50 degrees in there! Overall lack-luster hospitality and great food.

Ah Lenny's... pretty good Italian sub and probably the closest taste to a real Philly hoagie here, it has the depth of flavor Jersey Mike's misses. the pepper relish is the key. my only complaint is that it is too salty. Give them a try.

Lenny's just moved in to the old Zoe's location on Hillsboro Pike. It's OK. I guess I'm used to the Subway way of doing things, and this is pretty different. The place is nice enough for a sandwich shop--inside is totally renovated, and it's clean. I was a little confused when I walked in--couldn't tell where to order. But that just could be me, I'm a tad unobservant sometimes! Anyway--just FYI, right when you walk in the door look to your left and there is a menu board on the wall. You order right there, and order by number. Kind of like a Mexican place. There are only two types of bread--white and wheat. They do offer subs (6" or 12") and rolls. I had a roll, slightly smaller than 6" sub. I had standard turkey--but he never asked what kind of cheese I wanted, or even if I wanted it (of COURSE I did, but some people might not). He got it right--provolone--but that was lucky. They only offer three cheeses--provolone, Swiss, and white American. Hmmm. The other thing I wasn't thrilled with was that I couldn't look at all the topping options. They call you to the counter, where you can't see anything, and run through a list of options (pretty standard, lettuce, tomato, onion, etc) and you say yes or no. Pretty simple, but a little strange for me anyway. I guess I'm more visual. I also like to see how fresh they look before I add them to my sandwich. Oh well. Bottom line, it was a good sandwich, and I'll probably go back, just because of the location. It's convenient. Chips are really good--their own brand--and they carry Coke products, which is a plus. Minus a star though because they don't have black olives. And minus a star for, well, being a bit confusing and not having as many options as Subway.

I didn't find anything special about Lenny's. It's basically just another sandwich shop. I feel like all the sandwich shops have one or two things different from the others, and it appears that Lenny's offers a spicy sauce as their one different thing. Seeing as how I have zero interest in spicy sauce, there was nothing extraordinary for me at Lenny's.
