I'm knocking this down a star or two after going here for a few months. They've changed some of their food, most notably their chips, and it has turned into a good, old fashion grease pool. Seriously, it's consistently like they poured a cup of vegetable oil on top of the basket of chips. It wasn't like this when they first opened, and I wonder what was changed. I still like the people, and they now have pretty good drink specials, but the food is starting to lack big time. I really want this place to succeed, so I hope they are able to turn things back around.

The best Mexican restaurant in east Nashville, period!! Chips are made fresh daily, so is the salsa! The restaurant is clean, great friendly staff, the food is top notch! Don't waste your time and go anywhere else, you will not be disappointed!

A new mexican restaurant in East Nashville... nice. In my opinion a much better option than Las Maracas up the road and , to me, the best Chile Relleno in town. This is not the soggy battered type of Chile Relleno, but the naked, stuffed chile...and done perfectly...not hard as a rock...like La Hacienda (the worst Relleno in town). I got the Combination 13 (burrito, Enchilada and Chile Relleno) all of the food was very good. Good Salsa, a nice spicy hot salsa as well as good queso. My wife and I will be back.

This space is not too big, so the available seats fill up quickly...which caused the restaurant to be pretty noisy. The food is fairly typical Mexican food, nothing that was mind blowing in my opinion. The drink specials were decent - a large draft for $3.99. My server was incredibly friendly and quick, even though they seemed understaffed. I'd probably return for lunch if they are less crowded.

The food was very good, not fantastic but good. The chips and salsa were hot tasty and plentiful. Waitstaff was attentive, friendly and welcoming. This is a restaurant you may pass on because of the storefront style location and the "luncheonette" feel to the interior, but don't let that sway you. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinners and definitely will be back.

Just right Mexican food and great people! The enchiladas rancheros is our favorite- the pork has an excellent flavor!

After living in East Nashville for 4 years, I am over Las Maracas. We decided to branch out. The staff is always so kind and the food is yummy at Las Fiestas. I would say they do not have as good of Happy Hour specials as some other establishments, but the food and the crowd is worth the price difference. The atmosphere is much better here and they are always attentive. I would say the only two things lacking are a good patio and better HH specials. :)

I give Las Fiestas a 4-star rating because of its mole con pollo (chicken with a chocolate sauce), which is reminiscent of authentic Mexican fare and among the very, very few places in TN that actually serve it. Plus, there is always a dinner special, and the margaritas are cheap. I honestly recommend branching out from your usual taco/tamale/burrito combination platter at this place, because their more authentic offerings are absolutely delicious which is more than I can say about other cheap eats Mexican restaurants in Nashville. The combination platters are huge and good, but they are on par with other restaurants. Seriously, this is a great place to experiment and expand your knowledge a little bit of authentic Mexican! The quality and deliciousness of Las Fiestas does not rival La Jaliciense, but Las Fiestas does serve liquor!

Met friends for dinner. Jose takes good care of you here. I don't even remember what I got because I was more involved with spending Valentines day dinner with friends. (I am a third wheel) and it was nice. I do remember they were cheese enchiladas with onion and cilantro. I asked that chorizo be added to it at the recommendation of a friend and the result was delicious. I didn't partake in the drinks but they looked good. I was the sober ride. I love deviating from the standard Tex-Mex and this place - has lots of alternatives on the menu (of which I can't remember LOL) Overall a good experience. I recommend. Paired with El Jaliciense down the street - the options on the East side are plentiful. I still like El Jaliciense better though.

This place is AWESOME!!! 2-4-1 Margaritas and $4.99 34oz beers. They have the best chips and salsa I've had in this area hands down, and it comes out quick. Their menu is a little intimidating, only because there are so many options--which is probably their only downside. But everything I've had from enchiladas, to fajitas, to camarones bandidos were awesome. Always large portion sizes and enough to take home for leftovers. Great atmosphere as well and a couple flat screens with sports playing. Everyone is really friendly and this is definitely a spot to come back to.

Don't judge a book by its cover. Although unassuming on the outside, there are great flavors on the inside. Menu is huge, and contained much more than your "standard local Mexican restaurant" fare. Everything we ordered was very good. Margaritas were just ok. Service was ok, we were a party of 10 and the restaurant was packed, so OK service is to be expected. We had a birthday celebration in our group which was hilarious to say the least. Overall I recommend Las Fiestas Cafe. If you're looking for great Mexican food, that's a refreshing break from what you're used to, then this is a very solid choice.

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Nashville. I love their fajita dishes; huge portions and delicious. The service here is excellent, everyone is very friendly, and the atmosphere inside has a welcoming feeling. The beer is always fresh and cold.

Sub-par Mexican place. Bland chips and salsa. Not very flavorful - I had the taco salad. Soaked through with wet lettuce and tasteless chicken. The servers were incredibly nice and friendly however.

This place is like that person in school that never got a date but was everyone's friend. The food is solid, the price is right, the staff are friendly, but the look is not all that. If you're in the area, stop by and enjoy the tasty deliciousness. Once you go often enough, the staff tend to know you and welcome you in. It's always a nice feeling.

Thanks, Yelp for helping me find this gem in my neck of the woods!! After getting burnt out from Las Maracas, I found myself wanting almost everything on the (very long) menu here, and any food placed at tables nearby I craved no matter how stuffed I was. We went on a Thursday night and were pleased to see they still had happy hour style pricing all night (2-4-1 margaritas and $3.99 for a 34oz dos equis) . These margaritas were some of the best I've had from this type of restaurant and refreshingly strong. The food tasted fresh and flavorful. Mine was perfectly spicy and satisfying. For $10, I have half a plate of food for leftovers so I think that's a great value! My boyfriend got the authentic Mexican tacos and ate every bite. Oh I must say... Most of the menu items say it comes with "rice & beans" as usual, which, let's be honest, most of the time the beans are less than ok. In this case however, they had chunks of pork and loads of flavor running through them, and were more of a baked bean consistency than typical refried beans, which I was pleasantly surprised with. We ate all of them. The staff was very friendly and helpful in narrowing down the menu choices for me. We will definitely be going back to cross more items off the menu!!!

This place is awesome! I always get take out on my way home and they are fast and friendly. Great customer service! The food is consistently good and they give me more chips than I can eat on a week... Which is perfect for the left over cheese dip. :)

This place is delicious. Good food for a good price. The bacon wrapped stuffed jalepenos are the best. What makes it even better is how nice the staff is. They the nicest people ever and are always nice and smiling. My fav Mexican place in the neighborhood. Also 2-4-1 margaritas. Those are nice too :)

Great Mexican place. Salsa was the best I've had in a while. I wasn't expecting much when we started hunting down last minute Mexican. However, it was a pleasant experience and I'll frequent now. Only negative- waitress said no daiquiris? Sorry- not huge on tequila.

This is the first time Yelp has led me the wrong way. It's a fine Mexican restaurant equal to Las Palmas or something of that nature but by no means an almost 5 star Mexican joint. I actually liked the atmosphere. It's a little gritty and authentic and very open. The service just okay. No need to go into the details. The drinks were pretty good and they had several specials. The food was uninspiring. It wasn't bad but it didn't particularly call me in to overeat but maybe that's a good thing? It's fine and I'll leave it at that.

Las Fiestas Cafe is a relatively new Mexican joint on the East Side that moved into the location formerly occupied by Cat's Music and Smiley's Soul Food Cafe. While there is a plethora of good Mexican places in the neighborhood (El Jalicience quickly becoming my favorite), Las Fiestas has been recommended most often for breakfast. There are few things in the world that get me as excited as a breakfast burrito (one of the worlds most perfect foods as far as I'm concerned) so I knew I was going to have to check this place out. The decor is "meh" at best. It looks like they picked up their dining sets from an old hotel that was letting go of their continental breakfast area. We went on a Sunday morning and the place was empty. For most of our dining experience We were the only people in the restaurant. And let me take a guess at why: They were BLASTING TV preacher Joel Osteen on the two large screen TVs. In addition to the unwanted religion I was getting with my burrito, they were playing salsa music over the televised church service. I'm all about mashups, but this was downright annoying. If I wanted to hear a sermon, I would spend my Sunday morning in church. I wanted a burrito, which has nothing to do with Christianity in the slightest. My one major recommendation for this restaurant would be to show sports/music videos on the TVs on MUTE, and play the salsa music in the background. We started out with our morning coffee. It was fresh, but unremarkable. It tasted very much like typical bottom-less cup diner coffee. But we were there for the burritos, and boy did we get them. Las Fiestas' breakfast menu is pretty traditional American/Southern stuff, with the exception of the Burrito Loco. The Loco is filled with eggs, your choice of chorizo, bacon or beef, topped with pico and queso. Since I'm not a big queso fan, I asked for salsa verde instead. This burrito was MASSIVE, filling, and very tasty. For the price, you can't really beat this breakfast. Let's also talk about their home fry potatoes- possibly my favorite thing at this place. They are half circles cut thin and pan fried until almost crispy and dusted with a great mix of spices. These little slices of heaven tasted really good dipped in my leftover salsa verde. By the time we were finished eating, Reverend Osteen finished his programming and was replaced with an informercial on skin cream- which was also at full volume and not shut off. Overall, breakfast at Las Fiestas Cafe is pretty darn good, if only they would at least shut off sound on the TV.

Always a solid choice when looking for mexican. California fish tacos are the best. Margaritas are so so, if they where better I would have given a 5 star. But definitely a place I'll be back to.

I have only been here once for lunch, so I write this review based solely off of that experience. With that said, they are better than any of the other traditional mexican places in the area. I had the tacos autenticos, which were cooked and seasoned well and came with a medium spicy housemade sauce. The salsa was not very good nor were the chips. Had a margarona and it was standard. It was good enough that I will try again and update the review. If the food continues to be good I would give it four stars. The salsa definitely needs improvement as do the chips. Service was prompt and friendly, but I went during an odd non busy time, so I don't know how they operate during lunch or dinner hours.

I literally signed up for yelp JUST to review this place. We live about a mile down the street from this place and decided to buy the groupon so we could try this place out. I'll cut to the chase and just say don't bother. First, the food was super bland- but that's not enough to get me to sign up to yelp and give a poor review. What WILL get me to write a poor review is poor service. When we went to pay, we tried to use our groupon and the owner was visibly upset that we were using it--what? We left a 20% tip on the pre-groupon amount so I know it wasn't that. Nope, just the groupon. He refused to make eye contact and the whole transaction was just totally weird and uncomfortable. Definitely wont be going back--guess we will keep making the trek up to Hendersonville's Rio Bravo. As for Las Fiestas? I dont think it's long before we are saying adios to them.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
