Homemade Popsicles?!?!? YUM! This place is a MUST DO while in Nashville! Inside is super hip. Not to mention their popsicles are delicious. I had a Nuetella popsicle that changed my life. I would buy these in bulk if I could. It was so good! I would recommend to anyone who is in Nashville!

I was walking around Nashville and ended up in this coffee shop without even realizing it. It was so perfect I just was drawn to it. I expected just a cute coffee shop but was surprised when they had Popsicles or as they call them, Paletas (spanish for popsicle)! It reminded me of walking around Colombia with my grandparents to buy paletas and I was so excited. Needless to say, the paletas made of real fruit did not disappoint. I also got a latte, nothing too special. Overall a great place to stop for a nice treat!

Wow we tried the bing bing here and it was really good. My favorite was the matcha . Will definitely come back!

The chocolate dipped paletas make this one of my favorite spots to go at night! They have other options like Jeni's Ice Cream and bongo java but why bother when you can get a dipped Las Paletas! The chocolate that they dip it into is so rich and smooth, makes the perfect shell over the perfect Las Paletas popsicle. I've tried their coffee before and it was good, but seriously, why bother when there's ice cream and popsicles! Haha! I've also had the Bongoleta which is a Las Paleta dipped into an espresso shot, it was pretty great too but I'm a sucker for them dipping it! Maybe I should get them to dip it and then the espresso shot! Hmmm.... The service is usually okay, a little snooty at times but I can get past that!

The Iron Goddess Tea is a gentle reminder that we are living in a time in which society has lost faith in God and that we must therefore find a new basis for value or turn towards nihilism. Highly recommended!

Calling all people who love amazing desserts! TRY THE BING BING. It is some of the best stuff I have ever tasted in my life. I went back twice within 24 hours for more. It's a shaved ice dessert but it has seriously big taste. I got the espresso one and the cookie dough one and it blew my mind. Also, the chai popsicle and the avocado popsicle were fantastic as well. I haven't yet tried their beverages but look forward to doing so.

Hot & Cold takes a page out of German engineering - do one thing, and do it well. They do two things: coffee and popsicles, and they do them both well. Well, technically, the popscicles are made by Las Paletas, and they are out of the world. And the coffee is from Bongo Java, and they are inside the world. So together, H&C is the entire universe in a tony little East Village-esque coffee bistro. But seriously, if you are craving for something cold on a warm day, try their popsycles. The lime popcycle is like solid lemonade, and Las Paletas ought to file a patent for it, and ship it to the space station or something. (how is that word spelled anyway?)

Delicious Coffee. Done. Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream. Yes. Las Paletas. Got it. Quality goods. Yup. 4 stars just for that! We were in the area and it was a chilly day. Looking to warm up a bit, we came across Hot & Cold. Very cute coffee shop. Love the local art work on the walls. As the store is named, this place offers Hot beverages and Cold desserts. How lucky is Nashville to have this place?! My favorite ice cream and paletas under one roof. Employees are friendly and quick. Store is neat and organized. Napkins, honey, sugar, lids, and coffee stirrers are on a side table. I ordered the Mocha and it had a deep flavor. B got the Hot Chocolate and absolutely loved it. It comes with your choice of a homemade marshmallow. The marshmallows are from The Bang Candy Company. Another plus! Their marshmallows are excellent. I love that Hot and Cold brings some of the tastiest local treats under one roof.

I'm not the type to discount a place based of one bad experience. Maybe I'm too forgiving, maybe I'm a glutton for punishment. I gave this place 4 chances and I lived to tell the tale. Don't get me wrong, the coffee is great, but don't go in without thick skin. Each time I waited in line, I witnessed a Barista being rude to a customer for asking about altering an order. From what I could tell, the requests were not out of the ordinary. Customer satisfaction doesn't seem to be very important. The final time I visited, the barista was verbally bashing another local business in front of a line of customers. Very unprofessional display. This place is one sarcastic eye roll away from flipping the building completely over.

So after dinner last night, wife and I were looking for a foodie experience that had desert written all over it, and this place popped up on our list. We have always gone to Jenni's but wanted to try a new place for the experience and were recommended here. They serve a small selection of Jenni's icecream, as well as some of the Las Polantas? Ice pops, as well as a large selection of tea and coffee concoctions. Overall the place had a great vibe and the service was good. My challenge is that the pricing seems a bit aggressive for the product. As my wife had said, we came here because of the advertised ice cream and got Jenni's icecream, but could have just as well drove to Jenni and got a selection of 30 instead of 8. I give it 4 stars because it's a nice fit for the area, but 5 stars to me represents either a Destination type experience, or an overwhelming experience.

Great, friendly and patient staff! My friends and I were here deciding for a long time on what Las Paletas flavor we wanted. Best purchase I've made in Nashville yet. I am so obsessed with the Las Paletas! I've tried a bite of the watermelon, grapefruit, pineapple blackberry, raspberry lime, and avocado. In my opinion, the watermelon flavor is the best. I am a huge watermelon fan and the taste is so true to the fruit but better! They also serve Jeni's ice cream and a wide range of drinks that I have yet to try. It's a cute coffee shop but you can't really tell that they serve these delicious goodies unless you really read the tinted window.

I couldn't decide which dessert I wanted to try while in Nashville: a famous paleta or Jeni's Splendid. Lucky for me, Hot & Cold combines them both and I didn't have to make the tough choice. I ordered a salted caramel paleta dipped in chocolate and a small sweet potato & marshmallow cup of ice cream. The paleta was fabulous and exactly the way all Popsicles should taste. My husband also ordered a cup of coffee and we dipped the paleta in the coffee. It was fantastic! The ice cream tasted like my favorite flavor of all time--pumpkin--so you know that I loved the hell out of it. I couldn't believe ice cream tasted that good. I even asked my husband to get me another cup and he looked at me sternly and told me I was done. In that moment, I felt like a small child that was told no and couldn't accept that as the answer. I begged and pleaded and even tried the puppy dog face and he wouldn't budge. Next time, I'm getting 2 scoops and not allowing anyone to tell me no. Don't miss Hot & Cold. It's one of my new favorite places in Nashville!

Fantastic little sweet shop located in the heart of Hillsboro Village. Parking is tricky, but the experience is great. Serves Jeni's ice cream and Las Paletas--cannot recommend the avocado paleta enough... so fabulously delicious. I tend to get coffee at Fido, but have heard good things about the hot drinks at Hot & Cold. I work near the area, and this is a great go-to for desserts after lunch.

  • Melissa S.

I went here for the ice cream which was above your typical hipster weird ice cream flavors type of a place. The people who worked there were super chill and more than happy to let you taste as many flavors as you wanted. My favorites were the pumpkin with biscotti and the goat cheese with cherries. I got both and didn't regret it! You can get 1 scoop of 2 flavors for a little above $5. The ice cream was nice and soft and not super heavy creamy yet not as light as gelato. There was a sorbet option, pear Chardonnay, that was delicious. Next time, I will definitely try the Popsicles that many moms brought their children in to try when I was there and they seemed to be devouring! I did 4 stars just because of price.

I ordered a chai latte and then asked, "Is it possible to have that iced?" Because I'm an idiot. The name of this establishment refers to the option of getting anything on the drink menu hot or cold.. duh. This is the cafe connected to Fido ( yelp.com/biz/fido-nashvi… ), the popular brunch cafe next door. And this is where you'll be directed instead if you're at Fido and looking to order only a coffee/pastry, and have no intent of waiting on a giant-ass line for it. The iced chai was not bad. I also got a CRAZY delicious pumpkin bread. Holy cow - not too sweet, perfectly moist, perfectly pumpkin-y. It was one of the best pumpkin things I've ever had, and this is after my first meal of the day was also an overwhelmingly caloric dessert thing rather than real food. I almost always prefer savory over sweet and my body still said yes, yes, yes. They also carry the very coveted Jeni's ( yelp.com/biz/jenis-splen… ) and Las Paletas ( yelp.com/biz/las-paletas… ), but pumpkin cake is closer to real food than ice cream or a popsicle, right? Worth a visit as a tourist? It's convenient to have Jeni's and Las Paletas in one place if you're looking to try both. But like Fido, it's otherwise not a destination - just a great cafe with nice treats that is happily not too hard to find in most cities.

My boyfriend and I stopped in here for dessert after a paltry and unimpressive dinner at Boca Loca. This little cafe saved the day! We both ordered a small waffle cone with the Browned Butter and Pecan Cluster ice cream. Um, WOW! Amazing ice cream with the perfect mix of textures. The place wasn't too loud or crowded. We sat on the bench outside and enjoyed our treat. The two men behind the counter who served us were kind and just chatty enough without being aggravating. :) We'll be back. They had really interesting flavors there- (sweet corn and ripe blackberry????!!?! not for me, but interesting and unique, at any rate!) I'd recommend. :)

Hot & Cold is okay! I don't like it as much as it's sister restaurants Fido/Bongo Java. The chai I had was really natural though which was nice. I could taste the cardamom and spices, much different than a Starbucks type of chai!

Having experienced both the "hot" and the "cold" of Hot & Cold, I feel I now have the proper insight to review. Both at night and on weekday mornings, I've found H&C to have ample seating and a super friendly, knowledgeable staff. The cold: If, like me, you have daily cravings for Jeni's and Las Paletas but live much closer to Hillsboro Village than 12 South, you're in luck. Hot & Cold features both. The dude behind the counter suggested the creamy frozen *avocado* paleta (it's a popsicle. cuban style.) in Olive & Sinclair chocolate and it was a.maze.ing . Do it. The hot: While I loved my cortado at Fido next door, the almond milk cortado at H&C was just okay. The barista admitted, however, that he was new to the art of almond milk espresso drink-crafting, so it may have just been a fluke. Either way, they have a great selection of drinks and, like Fido, use Bongo Java. I really want to return to try the "Bongoleta" - a shot of espresso plus a mini paleta. I mean, who needs milk and sugar when you have a freaking creamy popsicle?

I had my first "Las Paletas" (Mexican popsicle) here. The Mexican hot chocolate was THE BEST. Ever. I had the strawberry the next day, but the fruit ones just aren't the same.

This was the best ice cream and hot chocolate I have ever had. Hubby loved the ice cream their as well. Very clean and food delivered quickly. Located in a great place lots of other little shops to walk around.

  • Jessica S.

I'm giving this 4-stars for the Popsicles and 2 for the service. La Paleta Popsicles were amazing. Tons of flavors made in the unique, traditional Mexican style. We had avocado and blueberry/pineapple. They were fresh and light. So good. The baristas were disinterested at best and I found them really off putting, especial when we were asking about the popsicles.

Originally went to Fido, but the place was packed, so we went here instead. The sell the same coffee without the wait. I ordered an iced latte and a strawberry - pineapple - banana paleta. Both were delicious and not expensive. The atmosphere was a bit kitschy and the staff was friendly. 4 stars for the coffee.

Dear Nashville, You're welcome. Love, Columbus I can't get enough of Jeni's. This place has everything you could ever need. I went after the Las Paletas popsicles: chocolate, strawberry- dipped in chocolate. INSANE! great space, love the bongo java crew. Grab and go, or take a seat. great ambiance and free postcards is a big win.

  • Mai H.

Cute little place right next to its brother Fido. Decent coffee, refreshing popsicles, and I love how they have a small section for ice-creams from Jenni's. A good place to stop by for quick treats while taking a walk in this trendy, busy area.

Neat little coffee shop with a great selection of local goods. I had a Goat Caramel flavored Las Paletas popsicle despite the cold weather and it was definitely worth it.

Having been here for both hot and cold now, I really enjoy this place. I've always received great service with good recommendations and general pleasantness. I love the cantaloupe pop and if you are feeling more adventurous I've heard great things about the avocado pop. I've really enjoyed the speciality drink I've had as well. They do not take American Express just a heads up!

So many choices when you go to Hot & Cold. They have Jeni's ice cream, bongo java coffee and Las Paletas. I tried the watermelon las paleta dipped in chocolate. It was like eating a fresh watermelon with high quality dark chocolate. It was so good. I am afraid that I will always want to walk down here since I live so close. The staff were friendly too. I will be a regular I'm sure!

Hot and Cold rocks!!! If you are looking for a delicious treat on 21st, this is your place! Yes, I'm saying it... better than Sweet Cece's. Don't hurt me!! Jeni's ice creams are fantastic, but I typically go for the Las Paletas popsicles... heaven!! My favorite flavor is peanut butter, but I haven't had one I don't like. If you are going for ice cream, get it with a shot of espresso. DIVINE. Pour it over your ice cream and be ready to be transported into dessert heaven. The richness of the ice cream juxtaposed with the strong espresso is such a great flavor. They also make mini Las Paletas that you can dip in your coffee (spicy chocolate anyone??). The last time I went I had an iced soy latte and it was great. Strong coffee (which I desperately needed on a Sunday morning) and they were very fast to get it out for me. If you are looking for a great place for a treat, this is it!

  • Michelle P.

My stop here was brief. I'm not much of a coffee person but I stopped in for a quick treat since I Saw they served Las Paletas sweet treats. I will return here maybe for a tea date with friends. The staff was really helpful and I always appreciate that.

Really fun place to stop in. They have good coffee and icecreams/Popsicle. They have a little window in the front you can people watch with your treat.

I will be back - many times. It is an adorable shop with friendly staff. The atmosphere is great - with niceties like fresh water with lemon sitting out, handwritten signs... And it has everything I love! All-natural ice cream and popsicles in yummy, unique flavors. Unique toppings to add on (sunflower seeds, olive oil chocolate syrup...). A variety of homemade teas - some of which were unsweetened. Local, natural chocolates and truffles in a variety of unique flavors. A variety of baked goods including some gluten free. So many truly unique but yummy soundings drinks with natural ingredients - many with ingredients you don't often see elsewhere like mint, ginger... And I love that a lot of the items change day to day. Just means I'll have to go more often ;-)

We were leaving Nashville and wanted something for the road and decided to get milkshakes. OMG! The homemade ice cream milkshakes (and flavor combinations) at Hot & Cold are creamy, smooth, and decadent! I wish there was one in my hometown, but maybe it's a good thing for my waistline that there isn't. Nom nom!

Delicious desserts! I love love love the hibiscus Popsicle. It is a must everything I'm in West End.

My Nashville friends often laugh at me for saying this, but... Hot and Cold is often one of the first places I take out of town visitors who come to Nashville. I love that it features 3 of Nashville's greatest treasures--Jeni's Ice Cream, Las Paletas, and Bongo Java Coffee--all in one convenient place, in a very fun part of town. We often grab something to nosh, and then walk around Vanderbilt, Belmont and/or Music Row. It really is the perfect place to come when welcoming people to town! I always love Jeni's, and enjoy having the option of something lighter in the fruity popsicles or a good cup of coffee when ice cream seems a bit too heavy. I've always had nice experiences with the employees, who are happy to let me sample the ice cream flavors and kindly allow me to ask for a zillion specifications when ordering a coffee drink. Favorites: -Local Latte (YUM!!!) -The chocolate magic shell they use to top the ice cream--it's like crack on top of crack! -Pretty much everything here

  • Jasmine J.

Hands down, best dirty chai. When I just want coffee, I enjoy it a lot more than waiting in line at Fido next door. Opening a smaller coffee shop next to a large, overpopulated, higher volume coffee shop was a genius idea. I enjoy the rotating, creative drink specials to choose from every season.

  • Katie D.

I've only experienced the 'cold' part of this restaurant but man, it was delicious. I had a cantaloupe pop and loved it. My friends had a coconut and an avocado pop recommended by the woman working the counter and they reported back favorable things. It was definitely expensive but the staff was friends and it was a nice spot to sit and relax. Can't wait to try the 'hot'! The specialty beverages looked amazing!

I heard this is where Miley hangs out... so naturally, I hopped a flight out of LAX (not really, I drove... and it was from the Chicago 'burbs... but it was in a hybrid so still 'prittay kuhl') and got ready to join this Nashville party... and by 'party' I do mean Ice.Cream.Social ! Enter: Hot & Cold I'd eaten a little too much earlier in the day so my tummy was turnin' and I was feeling kinda a homesick. Obviously, I did the only rational thing I could think of: I ordered up a sh*t ton of ice cream and chased it with a popsicle... and some tea just so I could say I had both hot and cold (and cold and cold and cold). Looking at the assortment of Jeni's Ice Cream and Las Paletas Gourmet Popsicles had me thinking one thing... Candice, Do you really need to get the Goat Cheese and Cognac Fig + Honey Pistachio + Black Currant Lambic Ice Cream + Spicy Hot Chocolate Popsicle + Coconut Cacao Pu-erh Tea? How did I answer? Well, the only logical way I could... I put my hands up they were playin' my song The butterflies flew away I was noddin' my head like "Yeah!" Movin' my hips like "Yeah!" It was a party in my Tum.may!

  • Renee C.

Your "fast pass" to Fido (aka bongo java) coffee. They can make you any fido drink and provide a muffin -- plus, they sell Jeni's ice cream and las paletas. What's not to love? If I'm in Hillsboro village and just need a coffee, I definitely go to hot and cold. No line and friendly staff!

    (5)
  • DC G.

Hands down, this is the best masala chai I have yet to try in TN (and I am a huge chai snob so that says a lot). The chai at Hot & Cold is better than the chai at the local Indian restaurants. The Jeni's Ice creams, plus the paletas(!), plus the fact that they stay open late are other huge advantages to this excellent establishment. Thank you Hot & Cold, for being the heart of Hillsboro Village.

I love bongo java brand coffee and expresso. hot and cold is a go to stop for me when i need la palitas popsicles or jeni's icecream. Its 2in one shop.

I skipped dessert at the Sunset Grill (which is apparently amazing) to head to this place once last time before I left Nashville. Incidentally, we also saw a couple who'd been at Sunset Grill eating dinner at the next table. The Jeni's Ice Cream is so delicious. The flavors are super creative and intense. I recommend mixing one or two of the flavors. I visited Hot & Cold twice in the four days I was in Nashville during my last visit and had the Goat Cheese and Roasted Cherry, Salted Caramel, Pumpkin and Dark Chocolate. Every single flavor was amazing. And you can try before you buy just in case something might sound a little too funky for your taste. You can get the famous Las Paletas if you want something lighter or you can also grab a coffee drink instead or to go with your dessert. There is typically a line but just wait, it's worth it.

    (4)
  • Kevin C.

Four stars for the excellent $10 vanilla milkshakes. However, this place has BY FAR the slowest service on planet Earth. Employees must have to pass a "let's see how slow you can move" test with extra points awarded for looking slightly confused, distracted and depressed at the same time.

    (4)
  • Justin B.

Hot & Cold is a brilliant concept. They serve Bongo Java Coffee, Jeni's Ice Cream, and Las Paletas Mexican Popsicle. The space is very small, but they have an appropriate amount of seating, and the lines are rarely very long.

    (4)
  • Kenneth C.

If you want to grab a quick espresso drink or local Las Paletas or Jeni's Splendid Icecream, then this is the place to be. It's not as busy as Fido next door and it caters to drinks and desserts only. The staff is friendly and polite and know what they are doing when making espresso drinks. It's in a convenient location and easy to access once you are parked. I would highly recommend this place

A new coffee shop in Nashville? Well yes I think we will try this :-) I ordered a Harvest Moon coffee, one of their seasonal specials. It had maple syrup, cream and roasted pecans on it. It was caling out to my Canadian blood :-) It was really good!! My date ordered a coffee with espresso and was equally pleased by the flavour of a straight up coffee like that. I tried a couple fo the mini la plaseta (spelling?? LOL). If you've never had them, they are good! They are homemade popsickle sticks. I had a mini chai and a mini spicey chocolate. My date tried some of the Jenni's homemade icecream. A small is two scoops, so he had a scoop of sweet pototoe and a scoop of pastachio...both were great! We would definitely go back again. Nestled into Hillsboro Village, so you can enjoy a little shopping and some great coffee!

Sometimes Fido can be a little too much hustle and bustle for me and my trusty laptop so Hot & Cold comes to the rescue with it's cozier and more lowkey space. What's not to love? Alongside the plentiful assortment of Bongo Java coffee, Jeni's Ice Cream, cookies, muffins, Las Paletas popsicles, and other treats along with smoothies are offered in this delightful spot. My favorite is the specialty latte called the Grey Skies ($3.95) which includes Bergamot, Coconut Milk and is topped off with a bit of Olive and Sinclair chocolate. Such a delightful cup of Joe! All around a solid spot for some brew or snacks too.

After having breakfast at Pancake Pantry, we wanted to walk around and explore different stores in this area. What caught my eyes was the signage "Las Pelatas" on the window. Parking at 12 South is always a pain in the neck for me so I rarely go down to that area for the main store. I was so excited to know that H&C offers those yummy Popsicles here. Without hesitation, we walked in the shop. It is a really small shop but you know what they say, big things come in small packages. H&C isn't only offered Las Paletas, they also offer Bongo Java coffee and Jeni's Splendid ice cream. And the most important thing is they don't turn off the wifi during busy hour! *cough Fido cough* I love the bench they have in front of the store (Note: No smoking). It was great to sit outside eating Popsicle in this hot summer day and don't have to worry about cleaning the droplets falling from the Popsicle :P 2013/#45

  • Noelle T.

I love this concept. What's the concept? Hot and Cold! We went in the summer and I got a cup of Jeni's for me, a milkshake for hubs, and little bit got a popsicle by Las Paletas. They have a great local selection of hot drinks too.

  • Mike Z.

yep, believe the hype. jeni's ice cream and la paleta popsicles. i'm a dude and i'm telling you it's legitimate dessert place. ice cream is a tad on the super sweet side so just expect that. the consistency is nice, it's not icy at all so there's a smooth creamy texture to it. almost custard like. as for the popsicles, it's there for refreshment. the combination of flavors are trendy and not boring so you don't have to worry about that. when i'm in town, i'd probably hit this up if i'm in the area. discovered jeni's in austin but only from the local trnedy corner shop grocer that carries it only to find a real deal scooper station in TN. pretty cool.

  • Leigh W.

We wanted to try Jeni's and Las Paletas so it was convenient that you could order both from this place. We tried the chai paleta dipped in chocolate and the cookies paleta also dipped in chocolate. Both so good! Service was also very friendly

  • Steve S.

It was sitting on a bench outside of this little place that my girlfriend and I decided to move to Nashville. I'm drinking a chai tea right now, part of their seasonal drink menu. Mmmm. So good. The employees are always very friendly and their Internet is much more reliable than Fido's!

Don't bother coming within thirty minutes of closing. Goes from Hot & Cold to just Cold. They shut down the espresso machines with no exceptions. Just head over to Sweet CeCe's for frozen yogurt. They have free coffee.

Ever feel like something's missing in your life? Ever had Jeni's honey + pistachio ice cream in an Olive and Sinclair chocolate-dipped waffle cone? Well, I just saved you hundreds of dollars that could have been wasted on therapy. You're welcome. Seriously, it's creamy sweet-and-salty ice cream in the most magical cone that ever was. It retained its crispy crunch the whole way through, even when doused in chocolate and smothered in ice cream. One bite of a sog-free, gourmet waffle cone, and the world is good again. Oh, and did I mention that this particular confection is considered kid-sized? Yeah, maybe if I was the child of an Ork. Good dealio. Ice cream aside, Hot & Cold's friendly staff, cool atmosphere, and redonkulous selection of coffees, paletas, Jeni's, chocolates, and other sweet things are a total day maker. They rotate their flavors on the regular, though, so be prepared to branch out now and then. It's all good, I promise.

Got the skinny dip. 2 scoops of ice cream in an inside dipped chocolate cone. For $7.50 I expect to get the sauce and toppings that's supposed to come with it, but they ran out of toppings and only had caramel sauce dated a month ago on the container. Didn't care for that because I wanted chocolate. It wasn't even 8pm on a Sat night! I was super disappointed. The ice cream is very very good, though, with interesting flavors. Jeni's ice cream rocks, but was sad they ran out of practically everything!

Stumbled into Hot & Cold bc there was a sign in front of Fido's that they were selling Las Paleta's popsicles at this location.... First of all, Las Paletas popsicles. OMG they are delicious! I got the mint chip chocolate, and my brother got the key lime popsicle. For a hot summer day where it's muggy and humid, I would recommend the key lime. However, the mint chip chocolate really did it in for me. The top of the ice cream was filled with tons of little real mint chips (almost like little andes chocolates chopped up) and the chocolate in the popsicle was made to perfection. As a fellow baker, I like ordering things that I can't perfect, and this was definitely an area of expertise that I have yet to learn, if I ever do! These popsicles were deliciously yummy!!! I highly highly recommend. The shop itself is really cute and quaint. I loved the pictures they drew on the chalkboard on the wall. It was incredibly clean and staff is friendly too. The crowd when I went were chill ladies that talked amongst themselves, no loud noises. Definitely a chill spot if you want more of a quiet time to yourself compared to Fido's (which seems a bit noisier) Highly recommended for the popsicles! And saves you a trip to the actual location if you're closer to Vanderbilt. Must go back and try the ice cream next time.

Are you ever craving something? But you're not even sure what? You need an afternoon pick-me-up and you're not sure if it's a homemade soda, a spicy popcicle or a big bowl of handmade ice cream? or maybe some crazy combination of the two or three? dipped in coffee? sitting in a bath of espresso? blended? mixed? We stumbled upon Hot & Cold while exploring the neighborhood and I was in desperate need of something fizzy (having imbibed too much the night before) and my other half wanted ice cream. The lemon & ginger soda was perfect- citrusy, fizzy, gingery -- all real flavors - perfect to soothe my ailing stomach. The whiskey pecan ice cream from Jeni's was wonderful if maybe not whiskey-ish enough. People seem genuinely happy to work here, enter here, eat here. I can see why. Yum.

I will gladly return to Hot & Cold anytime I am in Nashville for one simple reason. Jeni's ice cream. Nashville, consider yourselves lucky.

Owned by the same geniuses that brought Nashville "Bongo Java" and "Fido", is Hot and Cold, a cute little place to go and crab a coffee and ice cream. Hubby and I found our way there on the suggestion of our waitress at another restaurant (I was looking for a gluten free dessert). They serve some really interesting ice cream flavors from Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream, a nice variety of yummy popsicles from Las Paletas and of course coffee and tea. I go ta double scoop of ice cream (pistachio and honey and reisling soaked pear) and the hubs ended up with a cone (for free!) because the messed up someone elses order (brambleberry crisp and roasted strawberry buttermilk) and we each grabbed a coffee (house specials for both: Mine - Merita and Hubs - Rosewater Mint Cuban). The staff was a little scattered, but once we got to the front, everything went smoothly. Only REAL gripe was the my coffee was gritty (think almost sandy with each sip), but my husbands coffee was spectacular. I would totally give this joint an extra half star if I could, but worth trying at least once. Besides, the neighborhood is pretty spiffy.

Hot & Cold is a great addition to the Nashville dessert scene. It's a nice little hole in the wall to stop in and nab a coffee and icecream with friends. The downside is that lots of people seem to pop in for the same thing, so there's very often a line. They usually have two people working, which is never enough to quickly move through the line. With another staffer helping out, this place would be a much more pleasant experience. Make sure to get a couple scoops of Jeni's! If you they have the banana/honey icecream, do it! Caution: VERY LITTLE SEATING! So plan to get your dessert and go.

I got a Mexican hot chocolate... I know what you're thinking, how do you order a Mexican hot chocolate? Well son, a MHC is a drink, not an extremely rad sex position... But yeah, it was pretty good.

Yes, its own by fido guys! short or no lines with same grade of coffee. also, jeni's icecream. Skip the line at fido!

I don't really want to let the secret out... But I honestly was allowed to have a taste of ALL of the Jeni's ice cream flavors available at Hot & Cold. And they were all really, really good. Hot & Cold is less like Starbucks (fun flavors and novelty drinks!) and more like Nashville's local and loved Crema (ALL ABOUT ESPRESSO). I wouldn't call myself a coffee connoisseur by ANY means, but the soy cafe au lait with mocha (I know you're laughing) I had at Hot & Cold tasted robust and un-chocolatey, an un-sweetness I've come to identity with an actually well made coffee drink. The store is offering a nice selection of also local and loved Las Paletas Mexican popsicles, even offering a mini-paleta called a Chiquita. Aww, how cute. But if size matters to you! - there's a Ben & Jerry's Vermonster-like sundae available (Lord knows who's ordering this... except me on my birthday later this year...or maybe just next week...) that combines four scoops of ice cream, four chiquitas, and other STUFF. Yum. Really, that Jeni's ice cream is a seriously great find. It's definitely an all flavor, no crap-ingredients product. It's being sold by the pint in the store as well, for $10. Yeah, that's a lot.. but it's a hell of a product and Hot & Cold needs to make a profit too! The two young guys working behind the counter seemed really enthusiastic about all of Hot & Cold's offerings. Not only did I sample 5-6 ice cream flavors, I could have smelled the tea leaves if I'd wanted to! I don't know if those guys are big foodies, or they love coffee, or they're just glad to have a job! Any of the above. I'll see them again, for sure.

What's not to love? Delicious Bongo Java coffee, Jeni's ice cream, Las Paletas...it is a Godsend when the line at Fido is out of hand and all I want is a coffee. Ice cream flavors range from OMFGDelicious to what...the...? I tried a cumin honey ice cream today that tasted like a frozen Indian curry. Not really my thing. My all time favorite flavor is the salted caramel. The poached pear Riesling is also might tasty. I tried a sample of the Bangkok peanut, which was a lovely mix of peanut, coconut and spice. They also sell baked goods from Fido and delicious Olive & Sinclair chocolate bars (and big hearts for Valentine's, aww...).

Yin and Yang is Hot & Cold, a new Bongo Java creation. Imagine a place that provided delicious treats like Las Palatas and Jeni's unique and Appalachian infused ice cream/sorbets out of Ohio in addition to coffee confections. This is the place. I stumbled upon Hot & Cold the day after it opened and (wo)man, did they have their act together! The blending of coffee and dessert make Hot & Cold the perfect after dinner hangout. Las Palatas is a Nashville necessity but the array of flavors blew my mind when it came to what Jeni had to offer. From bourbon butter pecan creamy ice cream to the smooth flavor of roasted pear with Riesling sherbert, Baskin Robbin's 31 flavors can't touch Jeni with a ten foot pole!!! Never before have I sampled such a tempting and sultry essence in a dairy treat! Next, onto the freshly made waffle cones which could be a fine treat on their own. I was so mystified that I didn't bother to look at the caffeinated options written on their chalkboard painted walls! Hot & Cold is an awesome place but the only reason I didn't give up that final star is the limited seating. I know, I know. Fido is right next door if you want to sit and study or read but I feel like having enough space to chill facilitates the perfect environment. Nevertheless, I will be back Hot & Cold, next time to try the HOT!

Oh my goodness!!!!! AMAZING!!!!!! I ordered the Yellow Snow Espresso drink and it was, hands down, THE BEST COFFEE DRINK I HAVE EVER HAD!!!!!! Literally, it was the absolute perfect blend of ingredients. I would highly recommend this drink to anyone and everyone who loves coffee. Definitely worth battling the traffic downtown just to come here at LEAST once in your life!!!

Tucked right beside Fido, Hot & Cold offers up all kinds of sweet treats for us sugar addicts! Be prepared for a huge number of choices, including all kinds of coffee drinks and teas, plus local sweet selections like Jeni's ice cream and Las Paletas popsicles. I always pop in here when I'm in the Hillsboro Village area, especially after eating some lunch or dinner at Fido. :)

chocolate dipped creamy popsicle dipped in coffee! I love this place so much I bought a T-shirt. Represent! Avoid the line at fido, and get your coffee here. Salty Caramel is my alltime fave for Jeni's. Also found out you can make your own Jeni's ice cream. spoonfulofjemily.wordpre…

Way to consolidate Nashville's cold, sweet, and tasty desserts in this cafe nestled along the Village strip! Las Paleta's popsicles and Jeni's ice cream at the same location? Who needs to drive out to the individual locations? All you have to do is just come here and enjoy Nashville's greatest desserts at a convenient location to the Belmont and Vandy students. The coffee is pretty good here, but I usually come here for the cold refreshing desserts. Whenever people come to visit Nashville I always recommend visiting this location because it's always so good!

First time to Hot & Cold was yesterday. I ordered one of the signature drinks the "Grey Skies" which contains Bergamot, coconut milk, espresso, milk, and shaved chocolate on top. The flavor was great but a bit too sweet for my palate. None the less, I returned this morning to get another one. I asked what made it so sweet, since there is nothing listed in the ingredients that would explain the sweetness. I was told it was a "special syrup". Perfect, easy fix, so I thought. When I requested they use only half of the standard amount of syrup they said they are unable to do that. I asked how much syrup is in it and the barista/"musician" responded one ounce. I asked for just half an ounce and was again told that he is unable to do that. I was so confused, I had to question myself whether I was making an unreasonable request. Considering I was the only customer in the store at 9:45 am Sunday morning, you'd think they would have at least an ounce of common sense and sense of customer service, but no. I was offered a different drink and told they could modify that drink however I'd like, but "the people that work for us that came up with the Grey Skies do not let us make any changes to it". At this point, totally disgusted and worn out I just had to leave. I have lived in Nashville 6 years working as a surgeon and even at Giovanni's when they have a featured menu item, they allow substitutions. These drinks are all made to order and not squirted out of a mixed up bag which allows modifications. I am sure if I wanted an extra shot of espresso in that beverage they would have accommodated for an up-charge. For those who want great coffee and and great service, I then drove to Dose and had a Shakerato with almond milk and an extra shot of espresso and enjoyed it greatly. dosecoffeeandtea.com

This place..was just ADOOOORABLE. First off, surrounded by such cute shops, cafes, and boutiques..what a great area and free parking in the back (hard to find in these parts.) If you're looking to stray from the typical and chain ice-cream places..this is the place to go. This is a unique, hip, mom-and-pop type parlor. You can sample any flavor..and let me tell you, the flavors..are definitely not lacking in originality and taste. You can find such flavors as Chocolate Cayenne Pepper, Salty Caramel, Goat Cheese and Cherries (or Cranberries?), and a few more awesomely authentic flavors. I opted for the Salty Caramel and Chocolate Cayenne Pepper..both SO good and rich in flavor..and they give you a little waffle cone chip to go with it. They also serve gourmet popsicles, homemade sodas (I tried the Lemon Ginger soda-delicious, spicy, and good for the stomach)..coffee, and more. If you're looking for something new, unique, and not too costly..hit up Hot & Cold!:)

Much more of a chill and smaller environment than its popular neighbor Fido. If I just want coffee, Jeni's, or a bakery snack, Hot & Cold is the way to go. It's more of one of those places you grab and go.

Sometimes I try to cut back on how much caffeine I drink. When I do, I switch to green tea. But then I rebound and start drinking as much coffee as I can. On those days, I often end up at Hot & Cold. For me, it is an easy stroll from work, excepting those hair-raising trips across the crosswalks dodging zoned-out cell-phone talking Nashville drivers (I'm thinking an air horn would be a good accessory for my walks; wake up people!). My guilty pleasure here at Hot & Cold is that every time I ask for skim milk, I get 2% or whole. Yum. In addition to good coffee drinks, they have tea, ice cream, and las paletas. The line is generally short and fast, and there's usually tables free. It is an easy/quick alternative to Fido and just as tasty.

This place is BS. I came here specifically to study. I got a 5$ coffee and they tell me the internet is off shad they refuse to turn it on. Added bonus, I was constantly swatting at flies and little nat like tings (i got 3).

This place is great! Fast counter service for great espresso drinks! Free samples of some of the best ice cream ever created! And...drinking chocolate! If was open earlier in the day it would have earned 5 stars!

Ice cream is my thing. So the fact that I've been thinking about this delicious treat for the past 12 hours since I scraped the bottom of my bowl definitely means something. The best part of Hot & Cold was that the guy working behind the counter let us test every single flavor. Usually when I ask to test more than one, I get a death-stare and an attitude, but this guy was happy to serve us. With flavors such as Cayenne Chocolate, it was impossible not to try them all. While the cayenne thing was not my favorite, I decided on one scoop of pistachio and one scoop of gooey butter cake. The waffle chip on top was the perfect touch. The only down side- my SMALL ice cream cup cost just under $5. Ouch. Good thing I don't live in Nashville or I would have to stay far, far away from this place.

Was recommended from a family member to try Hot and Cold while visiting Nashville. They are known for having the best cup of coffee. While waiting in line... (which was short but took forever because the customer in front of me got a cup of fresh drip coffee) I had a change of heart and decided to go for a Hot Chocolate. I placed my order and then waited for the barista to take several orders behind me. She went and filled an order for a bag of fresh tea for the girl behind me. After waiting twenty minutes for a Hot Chocolate to go, I was quite annoyed. The drink was actually very good, but not good enough to make me ever want to go back and wait and wait and wait again. If you're not in a rush then I would suggest Hot and Cold...but I just don't have the time or patients.

What's really amazing about hot and cold is that it manages to do a great job serving food from other restaurants: ice-cream from Jeni's, popsicles from las paletas, and winter soup/coffee creations a la fido. Despite being situated right next to Nashville's best megahipstercoffeeplex, H&C sets itself apart by offering a limited menu of bolder flavor options (rosemary or lavendar lattes, leek & ginger soup). The limited menu keeps the crowds at bay, allowing hot & cold to serve similarly well-crafted espresso drinks without all of the fuss and noise of Fido. Hot & Cold is further the evidence that Bob Bernstein (of Fido/Bongo Java fame) is taking over Nashville, and we should thank him for doing so.

If you're looking for "different" then you'll like this place, but the prices won't make you a regular customer. Just an observation: if you poured the coffee first and then put the ice cream on top afterwards, that would just be called a float and only worth $2. But b/c they put the ice cream in first and then the coffee after, then that's something new and deserves $7. The location is in a perfect spot, where everything is comparatively expensive to itself. It's a perfect fit to Hillsboro, where you can see struggling muscians drinking $7 coffees and playing for change. (You too can be like a struggling musician by ordering a $7 drink from here) Honestly, I've got nothing against Hot and Cold. They offer great products and service... but wait! You can get these same products from the vendors themselves b/c they have stores of their own. So take away the Las Paletas (That's Spanish for $4 popsicle) and the Jeni's Ice Cream, and you just have a trendy store that pours hot coffee on what you tell them to. Sorry guys, I take no joy in telling ppl that Santa Clause isn't real. But then again, Santa isn't pouring coffee on top of somebody else's stuff and overcharging me. Btw, I think Las Paletas and Jeni's are frozen treat geniuses, and I apologize for probably being a little too harsh on Hot and Cold. But you guys decide. Las Paletas is down the street at (less than a mile): 2905 12th Ave S Nashville, TN 37204 and Jeni's just opened a store in East Nashville: 1892 Eastland Ave Nashville, TN 37206 PS: they even ripped off the name from Katy Perry... j/k :)

While Hot & Cold may not have the same selection as the east Nashville outpost of Jeni's, they also don't have ridiculously long lines either. Make sure to check out the special combo of the day. Pro tip: cantaloupe paleta dipped in chocolate or Jeni's pistachio ice cream, grown folks stuff right there. Butter fat ftw!

Still awesome. The lovely workers here provided excellent service, allowing me to finish my birthday evening on a high note. The friendly scooper let me sample half a dozen delicious Jeni's ice cream flavors including a spicy chocolate, a peanut butter with chocolate shavings and a pecan bourbon concoction. (Even if it's not your birthday, you can still sample multiple flavors!) It was a tough choice, but I settled on a summer ale and apricot ice cream, which was simply amazing. I still don't know how they manage to keep the apricot so fresh and soft in the midst of all that ice cream goodness. Yes, it's a little pricey, but they give you a nice amount of ice cream (two scoops) even for a small cup and Jeni's ice cream is simply some of the best and most inventive ice cream I've ever tasted. I heart Hot & Cold. It's simply a great place. ps - Both the scooper and the cashier were really kind in wishing me Happy Birthday. I appreciated it.

I made my husband take me here b/c I wanted a paleta. And I will get one some day (hopefully avocado...yummm...). But this time I got distracted by Jeni's ice cream. I asked for a taste of the wildberry lavender, I don't know why. I don't like lavender in food--I like to smell potpourri, not taste it. But I was feeling adventurous. And thank heaven I was. This is quite possibly the best ice cream I've ever had. This really tasted more like orange (which, while it may not have been what they intended, was just fine with me since I love orange). And it was at least as creamy as any gelato I've tasted. A bit pricey--$4 for a small--but yeah, this is $4 ice cream. They sell pints for $10. I didn't get one tonight. But yes, I will at some point be ponying up $10 for a pint of ice cream. It's just that good.

So, Bongo wanted to create a more casual, perhaps intimate with ice cream. Putting their new store right next to their well-known, status only, no commoners allowed, service determined by your fashion label, Wifi shutting down, classist dog pound is counterintuitive, at least. That being said, Hot & Cold does not treat regular human beings like the scum of the earth. I've been twice, and they're great. I am a huge fan of Bongo Coffee, and these guys can pull it right. It's smooth, tasty, and not too bitter. The lines are probably better than next door, too. That being said, I'm surprised at the cost. Coffee is Fourbucks level or higher. Ice cream is probably the most expensive in Nashville. I haven't found anything nearly as high. They also go very high class with their ice cream flavors. This was the first time I've ever seen goat cheese ice cream. Apparently, they needed standard vanilla and an Ugandan Vanilla, as well as a Seasonal "Goat Cheese with Cognac Fig Sauce," but not chocolate. Everything I had was outstanding, and the service was outstanding, but don't come here with kids wanting standard but higher quality fare. This is gourmet at its highest level. This is where you take a date after going to TPAC and Ruth's Chris. This is where you go when you lacrosse team just won regionals. This is where you go when you've been named finalist for the Rhodes Scholarship. High-brow flavors, high-end service, and somewhat high prices.

I was brought here by a Columbus native who was desperate to introduce me to Jeni's. It lived up to expectations, although I was a little disappointed that we couldn't try some of the flavors I've heard about - there were $10 pints of other flavors, like the salty caramel, available in a freezer. You can try all of the flavors, which is great. They're very unusual, but I wouldn't say there were any that I disliked. I got a small cup of the Bangkok Peanut - delicious but spicy! - and Roxbury Road. The chocolate did a good job of balancing out the spice. The small was a perfect size, I'm not sure I could handle more! The staff were very friendly and accommodating while we hung out and tried all of the flavors before making our selections. The shop itself is very cute, there are areas to stand or small tables.

This place is so hot. And cold. And I mean that in a good way. Incredibly friendly, helpful, happy-to-be-there staff. And the mood when you walk in is just great. Low-key, simple wall art, fun environment. My only concern was the lack of seating, although, in all fairness, it was extremely hot and raining outside so the turnover rate could've been lower than usual. If you are in the mood for any kind of snack or refreshment - from hot tea/coffee to cold tea/coffee to ice cream to popcicles - this is your place. On that particularly HOT third of july, I went for a popsicle. I got strawberries & cream, and it did not disappoint. It was full of creamy, fresh flavor, and had chunks of delicious strawberries mixed throughout. Yum! Boyfriend got the rice popsicle, and while my strawberries & cream was delicious, I couldn't help but sneak bites of his popsicle! When we asked the staff about this said "rice popsicle", the response was "Have you ever tried Horchata?" No sir, but yes PLEASE! I will definitely be back to try more of those delicious frozen concoctions!

A joint coffee and ice cream shop right next door to a coffee shop (by the same owners, no less)? Weird, I know. And right around the corner from Sweet Ceces, Hot & Cold has stiff competition on the block. But they make it work. They serve Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams, which I first had on a trip to Columbus, OH. Once you have Jeni's, all other ice cream is ruined for you. Jeni's comes in flavors like Bangkok Peanut (think pad thai ice cream) and Pear Riesling (I'm always up for booze flavored ice cream) and Sweet Corn. Take home pints are pricy, but a fun treat once in a while. Getting Jeni's is always a tasty, tasty adventure. Despite the delicious Jeni's, my trips to Hot & Cold had been few and far between until recently. I don't eat a lot of ice cream, but with summer rolling in I find myself wanting a frozen treat once in a while. And this is where Hot & Cold really wins - Nashville's famous Las Paletas popsicles dipped in local Olive & Sinclair chocolate. They come in full size and mini size, and they're unbelievable. I had a rose petal paleta dipped in chocolate the other day and I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. I haven't had the coffee here (seriously, it's right beside Fido) but I plan to go back soon for the specialty drink they were advertising this week, a Rosewater Mint Iced Cuban Latte. If they can pull that off, I foresee many stops at Hot & Cold in my future.

Jeni's Ice Cream is far and above the best ice cream I've ever had. Its reason enough to spend hours of your life trying to get a darn parking spot in the Village. I have been back twice the poached Pear Riesling and Lemon Blueberry. Amazing! I'm not a coffee drinker, but I have coffee snob family who recently visited from overseas. Between all their travels across the States, they said Fido's / Bongo Java coffee was the best they had in the States by far. It was a nice respite from the constant complaining about America coffee.

I have extremely mixed feelings about this place which is why trying to boil all of my thoughts and opinions down to a simple 1-to-5 star rating just wasted about 10 minutes of my life. Concept: Another Bongo Java baby has been birthed...(pause for dramatic effect) right next to their already successful Fido establishment. If not immediately obvious, they serve hot stuff and they serve cold stuff. Slightly not as obvious concept: you can enjoy hot stuff paired with cold stuff. Fine print about the slightly not as obvious concept: you can only enjoy hot stuff paired with cold stuff if you want your wallet to be a little lighter. Now, onto the "stuff" offered. As to the hot stuff, they offer both tea, coffee, espresso, and chocolate. The teas are great, I would definitely recommend them and the coffee is Bongo Java. As I have mentioned in previous reviews, I am not a huge fan of Bongo Java coffee but I tend not to dislike it as much in specialty espresso drinks because espresso has a different flavor and it's been mixed with other delicious things. For the cold stuff, they offer scrumptious Jeni's ice cream--the only other place outside of Ohio to offer this amazing ice cream made from the milk of grass-fed cows. The flavors are amazing: I love the Bourbon Butter Pecan--it's creamy, slightly sweet, and you can definitely taste the Bourbon (almost so much that I wonder why they don't ask for an ID). The ice cream selection varies day-to-day and they have some exotic flavors. But, the portions for the price are pretty small. Meant to be savored, not to make you feel satisfied after a light dinner. They also offer Las Paletas, local handmade Mexican popsicles with also an assortment of awesome flavors. What bothers me the most about this place, however, is the atmosphere. It is extremely small and there is only a single row of tables on the right side of the venue where the line forms. For the price you pay for some of their offerings, I would have expected at least a comfortable place to sit! Service is great, however. All of the workers that I have encountered have been overly nice, welcoming, and willing to explain their offerings and give samples of the delicious ice cream.

So when Hot and Cold first opened, I didn't really understand the appeal. I mean, it's got a lot of Fido products, and Fido is right next door. Not really a lot of hang out space, and they 'stole' the las paletas from the Fido menu! Le sigh. It wasn't until this summer that I really understood the beauty of this establishment and all that it offers. Do I love the chalkboard wall listing the delicious treats alongside playful doodles? (yes). Do I also love the art installations and the cool decor? (also yes). Do I love the selection of not only las paletas but also Jeni's ice cream? (very much yes.) Do I really appreciate that in the morning on the weekends when the line for Fido brunch is out the door and around the corner that I can breeze into Hot and Cold for the same iced coffee? (yes, yes, yes!) Thanks, Hot and Cold. I'm really sorry I ever doubted you.

WOW The Jeni's ice cream here is out of control. I had the Bangkok Peanut - peanut butter with toasted coconut and cayenne pepper. Yes you read that right, cayenne pepper. I don't know what cuckoo decided to come up with spicy ice cream but holy crap it is good! The wood decor is pretty cool and the place has a nice feel to it. The only negative.. it is a bit on the pricey side. $4 dollars for a tiny cup with two small scoops of ice cream. Its so sweet I don't know that you would want much more than that though and it is certainly worth the money. I can't wait to go back and try more flavors.

Popped in today for a new "push pop" and they didn't have any. I chose the "honeydew" for me and the "Pineapple Coconut" for my husband. Mine was light and refreshing, as the melon would be. The "Pineapple Coconut" was creamy and crammed full of REAL coconut. OMG! Delicious!

Not only did I enjoy the random art that was on display inside I also was excited that they offered Las Paletas the Mexican Popsicles that have gained much notoriety in Nashville. They offer the regular size and the mini size. I tried the Blueberry lime which was very refreshing and had a bite of the creamy avocado too. I could eat these suckers every day. Thank goodness I live thousands of miles away!

I really don't get what all the hype about this place is for. There is nothing original about it. They serve Bongo Java coffee and expresso, Las Paletas gourmet ice pops, Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream, and Olive & Sinclair chocolate bars. So basically, they just consolidated some of the most popular items from the area and located themselves conveniently in Hillsboro Village near college students who think they're hipster. Smart move Bonjo Java...

Bob Bernstein (Bongo Java) started this shop in collaboration with his wife, owner of the famous gourmet popsicle shop on 12 South, Las Paletas, Part of the idea was that it would help convince some loyal Fido coffee drinkers to head down the street for shorter lines if they weren't getting food, but let's be honest: if I go here, I want dessert. If you're looking to indulge, go for the waffle cone lined with melted Olive & Sinclair chocolate and complete with two scoops of Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams. With flavors like Brambleberry Crisp, Whiskey and Pecan, and Salty Caramel, this ain't your average ice cream. If you're looking for something lighter, try a Paleta - which can also be dipped in chocolate (thin mint & avocado are both great choices). And if it's too cold for ice cream, no fear - you can find Fido's baked goods at Hot & Cold as well. Or you could always go for a cup of coffee.

Overall: Unique ice cream & hot drinks without the long lines of Fido. Food/Drinks: Man, that Jeni's Ice Cream... where do I start? I said it in my tip and I'll say it again, try the cherry lambic sorbet - it will change your life. Keep in mind, I'm a sour cherry fanatic, but it is seriously delicious. There are many other unique ice cream options and you can try as many as you want before you commit. But, really, I'm not sure you can go wrong. Word of warning about the chocolate w/cayenne pepper, it's got a KICK at the end. Cost: $4 for small. Yep, it's a little on the pricey side.

Pretty standard overpriced trendy coffee shop. Very limited seating and some very odd drink combinations--unfortunately we tried one of these, the Summertime Americano, which tasted kind of like iced indian food. :(

Bongo Java coffee, Las Paletas pops, and Jeni's ice cream - what's not to love? Sure, there could be more seating but I love stopping in to grab something to go with me. Or even to sit for a spell. The folks behind the counter are ridiculously kind - not rushed and they encouraged me to try all of the ice cream flavors - and I obliged. They also have a freezer full of Jeni's if you want to take a pint home. Great spot.

This is a great after-dinner place. Between the paletas, the Jeni's ice cream, and their awesome coffee concoctions, you can't go wrong! My biggest complaint is that they are pretty pricey. Secondly, they have a good tea selection posted on their board. However, when I asked how their hot tea is served, I was informed that it is brewed and served to you in a cup. Loose leaf tea should be served with a pot of hot water so that it can be brewed to each individual's preference. In addition, I think they only have paper cups, which can really detract from the flavor of a freshly brewed loose leaf tea. If Hot & Cold is going to offer this wonderful tea selection, they should put a little effort into ensuring that it is served properly as well....

Two reasons I loved Hot & Cold: 1. Iced Rosewater Mint Cuban Latte 2. Las Paletas Such a fun, yummy little place. This entire part of town was such a pleasant surprise for an out of towner just passing through.

I really l love their cold drinks. The one they make with condensed milk and Rose Water is fantastic. Their cappuccinos are good, but not amazing.

I came across Hot & Cold when I decided to grab a coffee while my friends waiting in line at Pancake Pantry! I walked into Hot & Cold not knowing that I would most likely end up frequenting it. The people were great (even the other customers - a woman there with her family helped me figure out the ropes at this local spot), the coffee was so well priced, and the flavor of the coffee was fantastic. I love unique coffee shops, and this one definitely delighted me! I'll be back!

Hot and Cold is my go-to emergency caffeination-ice-cream-station. I live betwixt Jenni's, Bongo, and las Paletas to name a few; sometimes, I just can't convince myself that it's worth it to trek all the way to Easty to wait in line for twenty-five minutes while Belmont students try every flavour available. Or what if everyone in my party wants something different? Let's face it, sorbet gets boring after a while, maybe I want a delicious Paleta? THEN IT'S A VOYAGE ACROSS NEAR AND FAR TO MAKE EVERYONE HAPPY. GOSH. WHY IS THE ONLY VEGAN IN THE PARTY SO STUPID AND DEMANDING(A.k.a Me). Hot and Cold is brilliant. I can get a paleta while my girlfriend gets some salty caramel AND WE DON'T EVEN HAVE TO DRIVE TO SEPARATE LOCATIONS! Genius! Or if I just want coffee from Fido, I DON'T HAVE TO WAIT IN LINE!!! Brilliant! High-fives for everyone! They're also open conveniently late so I don't have to scream in agony when I reach the door and las Paletas is closed. Hooray!

Great coffee! I had one of their winter specials and was impressed. The one negative I can say is that there are only metal stools to sit in. I was planning in killing an hour or so waiting for someone, and the fact they had no couches/sofas was a little disappointing

Been in here a few times after dinner or a movie in Hillsboro Village, and enjoyed it. They have the Los Paletas pops, coffee, tea and other things. The staff is always incredibly nice too. My favorite thing about it has to be the artwork for sale. There is one that is Boba Fett's 8th grade school picture that makes me smile every time I think about it. I am sure it is sold and on someone's wall by now.

I should note that I only get one thing at Hot and Cold, so these five stars don't represent a comprehensive assessment. But the Bongo-Leta is one of my mouth's most favorite things! You get a mini paleta, which is a handmade Mexican-style creamsicle, and a shot of espresso for dipping. I highly recommend the mocha heat paleta. First you get the rich, chocolate-y flavor of the pop. Then the chili flavor and the caffeine burst will make your taste buds sparkle. It might be the world's most perfect dessert. Three bucks!!!!!

ok. this is the best ice cream I have ever had. Period. Freakin' amazing, and I am an ice cream snob. But grab your wallet. 3 small ice creams, and 2 pints.. 40 bucks... I didn't try the coffee, but I'm sure it's close to it's next door neighbor.

I'm crazy about Hot & Cold! Jeni's ice cream is as it is named, spendid. Cow to cone. I love the freshness that you can taste. And the flavors...some simple (dark chocolate, lemon yogurt), others complex (Pistachio Honey, Goat Cheese and Fig). My hubby loves the Espresso poured over the ice cream. My kids love the housemade waffle cones and the local "magic shell" chocolate. I love that for the price of Sweet Cece's, I can get a sweet treat that I can feel good about, and actually know the ingredients. Now that tastes great!

At first you might think the idea of Bongo Java opening up another coffee joint just down the street from Fido (ostensibly a coffee place owned by the same group) would be downright foolish. Who wants to compete with themselves? And then you realize that not only do they sell coffee, they also sell ice cream, and if there's one thing that Nashville does not needed any more of, it's places to buy frozen dairy desserts. Especially a place that's 30 seconds away from Sweet CeCe's, right? Well you would be wrong, fool! But that's ok, because I was wrong too, until a friend made me stop in with her to pick up a coffee during a break from work. While she flirted with the barista who was decked out in plaid, I amused myself by checking out the lovely and exotic tea selection and wandered over to the ice cream counter. Who would know that one tiny spoonful of Jeni's ice cream would be my downfall? I walked away with poached pear & riesling ice cream dancing on my tongue, thinking a mug of some fancy tea would quell my inappropriate desires for ice cream at 2 in the afternoon. The tea was really good, but sate my desires for sugary goodness it did not. My husband and I finally made it over after dinner on Friday when the weather was so warm and happy, you just know it's what prompted people to invent frozen milk treats back in the day. We decided to indulge in a "Skinny Dip", which is far more sinful than the name suggests. For $7 we got two scoops of ice cream on a waffle cone that were then dipped in dark chocolate and topped with pistachios. We chose to get the honey butter cake and the salted caramel ice creams and it was maybe the best thing I have ever tasted. EVER. You may think $7 is a lot to spend on an ice cream cone, but this is high-quality deliciousness we are talking about, and you will not regret a single penny of your purchase. Also, the ice cream (and chocolate) is so rich, that this two-scoop cone is perfect for sharing as we did in the style of "Lady and the Tramp", so with that in mind, we totally spent less here than we would have at Sweet CeCe's or the various other fro yo places in town. When debating the merits of H&C vs. Sweet CeCe's et al., we decided that at the latter, it's all about the fro yo being somewhat disposable and just a means to an end - that end being mass consumption of candy and toppings. H&C is all about a quality ice cream that can be savored all on its own. What you prefer is all up to personal taste, but for my money, the next time I'm craving something sweet, I'm hitting up H&C. Word on the street is that Jeni's ice cream is made using super fresh cream from local (for Columbus, Ohio) super happy cows that are grass-fed and all that good stuff. So essentially, the ice cream is all natural... except for the crack cocaine that they must secretly be adding to it, because how else can you explain that I am still dreaming of it days later? All suggestions that I simply lack will power will be ignored!

Some of the most sensual ice creams are made here. Over and over again, I would stroll in, peek at the flavors, and want to try to most creative new combination concocted out of shear guts and genius. The lavender/honey and the cayenne/chocolate combination exploded on my palate that I could feel my pupils dilate in ecstacy. I might have moaned out loud. Anyway, on-par with the Bi-Rite creamery of San Francisco (in smaller scale, of course).

Like many of the other reviewers, I was skeptical of another Bongo Java shop and in such close proximity to Fido, at that (It actually took me forever to find it, because I didn't believe it was literally two doors down from Fido). When you come in, though, it's a soothing, relaxed atmosphere, much calmer than the other two joints that are usually much more energetic. Simple tables line one wall with metal chairs on either side of the tables...It makes me wonder if they designed it according to Feng Shui or something. The music was even this strange Enya-type meditative music (though it alternated with some hipster jams and a little Beatles). As for the actual product, all I ordered was a "Blended Mocha." If you are expecting any of your tried and true Bongo Java/Fido favorites, you will not find them here! They have your basic coffee and espresso drinks, either hot or iced. The fanciest they go is a mocha, which you can get hot, iced, or blended. The blended mocha blows any similar drinks at other well-known Seattle-based coffee shops out of the water. Instead of dousing it with sugar and chocolate (a usual mistake), you can actually taste the coffee in Hot & Cold's version. I did not try the ice cream, but it looked delicious. One more thing: When I asked for a cup of water, they pointed me to a water station that keeps iced lemon/lime-flavored water in a cooler with cups for your convenience. Surprisingly, I have never seen something like this. As a big water drinker, they scored points for me with this one. What can I say, it's all in the little things!

If you like watered down hot chocolate that costs $4, this is the place to go. Thankfully, the whipped cream and gourmet marshmallow were delicious. Best to order Jeni's ice cream. Despite my experience, I plan on returning to try the many unique tea and espresso drinks. Still looking for a place that serves rich hot chocolate.

After seeing the line at Fido, we decided to hit up Hot & Cold for a quick coffee. It's the same beans they serve at Fido, but we just didn't have to wait in line. The coffee I ordered was delicious and the service was friendly.

Love this place - nice & always helpful. I drop in for a chai tea latte and it's simply delicious. The ice cream is great & they also carry delicious mexican paletas ice cream pops. Love the artwork on the walls and the friendly atmosphere. They don't have ridiculously long lines either.

Black coffee is ok. Not great, but ok. Place has a good vibe and I hear the expresso drinks are good. (Rating is based on one trip and one coffee, so disregard, and check it out.)

Love, love this place! It is the perfect place if you just want a tasty treat! Coffee and Ice Cream combined together is genius! I love Las Paletas and when I heard they were serving them I was sooo excited! They offer so many different flavors from fruity like raspberry lime, to creamy like the mexican caramel! I have to try a different flavor every time I go. The ice cream was great too! Really good flavors! Bongo Java coffee great as always! I was really interested in trying some of their teas. They offered some interesting drinks. Love this place! i recommend it to anyone with a sweet tooth!

Cold Las Palatas Mexican popsicles are star treats along with Jeni's splendid ice cream at Hot & Cold. Drinks and Bongo java coffee are hot there since Bongo Java owner founded this place too. Bob supplies the coffee and his wife Irma creates the paletas. Thus "hot & cold."

It's a little expensive, but so worth it!! The ice creams are always delicious (they let you taste-test any flavor you like) and always creative. The tea and coffee is priced right for the area and also very good. I always suggest the "love" tea and the salted caramel ice cream!

This place is just a joy to go to! I love supporting local chains too, but this is truly a great find. The staff are so friendly and awesome. The decor is bright. I tried the mint ice cream and others I forgot but they have amazing new flavors some on the cutting edge. The drinks are creative and awesome. I've tried a few. Everything tastes high quality & exceptionally fresh. They are very generous with samples. Parking can be difficult but that is Hillsboro Village for you!

The ice cream was good... except for the fact it was literally $4.32 for a ee-tiny single scoop in a tiny little cup. What the hell? The ice cream was not THAT good. Will avoid this place like the plague.

Fantastic ice cream unlike any other (pear riesling, salted caramel, black coffee..yumm!), delicious coffe drinks (blended/frozen latte is my favorite right now), and the nicest people behind a counter you're going to find. Love it. Go get you some :)

I'm definitely not "hot&cold" about this local place, so fun! With the best of everything in the treats world under one roof, how could you not love this place? From homemade ice cream (unique & classic) to the las paletas (love the minis!) and the pure chocolate drinking shots, yum! We got a four scoop sampler (c'mon, we shared between 3 people!) & the elderberry ice cream was hands down our favorite, yum! We can't wait to go back!

I wasn't prepared for it. It was just supposed to be an unassuming foray into a new local place. I planned to play it on the safe side, go with a hot chocolate and avoid danger. With lackluster chocolatey a la caliente experiences under my belt, it would be too easy for them to rise to the occasion. But beside the Las Paletas, a panel of observation glass screamed "look through me." I know, I know, get the hot chocolate and run. But how could I say no to a glassita? "whatcha got der, glassita?" No spoken words, but my eyes sparkled in wonder. "oooh, sweet potatoes and marshmallow." Wait, what? I don't even like sweet potatoes and marshmallows. But it was something about this combination in the form of smooth ice crystals that beckoned to me. I should've known then not to give into its power. "May I taste the sweet potatoes and marshmallows?" The woman behind the counter could've warned me. Instead, she walloped a teaspoon and proceeded to hand it to me annnnnd.....it fell on the glass. *&^%$#@^#@ I wanted the ice cream! AND SHE WAS TEASING ME! I was tempted to lick it off the glass, but no, my momma taught me better than that. Finally, she handed me another spoonful. Eager, I took the spoon and placed it in my mouth before another catastrophe could strike. And then, and then. It happened. (tears are coming even now as I recall) Fireworks. I was always taught your first kiss of delicious ice cream would produce fireworks, but I didn't believe them. Sweet potatoes and marshmallows made me a believer. I stood in silence for awhile, commemorating the moment, a special moment it was. The flavors had quickly dispersed down my tongue and esophagus, and were jamming in my belly, but I let the spoon linger for awhile, hoping to recreate the party in my mouth. After much MUCH pondering, I dismissed the thought that it could be love at first sight. "I'll try another." One after one, mini explosions proceded in my mouth. White Lavender, BAM! Lemon Yogurt, BA BOOM! GOUDA AND CRANBERRIES? poof. Yummy, but more of a snap than a crackle and pop. As yummy as my new lovers had been, they could not compare and I needed a new high to surmount the initial sweet p & m. No more time for bottle rockets, I need M80s. Enter riesling pear. Itching to get my fix, of course I asked for one last sample. And behold. There it was. In my mouth was my new best friend. I couldn't tell if I was sipping a mimosa, drinking frappe, or eating the freshest asian pear, but all these happy memories rushed to my mind. I knew I would not leave my first love behind, but I had found a perfect companion. But wait...what about hot chocolate? I mean it was cheaper, and I am broke and on a budget. How can afford to spare an extra$1.50 on nearly 4 heaping tablespoons of ice cream? But you can't put a price on love. Sweet potatoes & marshmallows, riesling & pear. Perfect pairs. I sat down with the two tiny scoops and had one of the tastiest moments of my life. I tangoed with the sweet potatoes. I wallowed in the mallows. I squealed in sheer delight at the refreshing bliss that was riesling pear. What a week it has been. First Grins macaroni that knocked my socks off and had me begging for more (LITERALLY), but The best thing about today? Me, Sweet P& M, and R&P. Three is not a crowd
