As a beer snob of sorts, Ginger is one of my top local beers. Atmosphere is nice too. Being from Florida, beer prices here are quite reasonable to me, especially when they have promotions. The place does a lot of giving back locally as well. The food is a little pricey for a pub of sorts but it is tastey. The only reason I havent given it a 5 is because the sweet potato fries have been overcooked both times. I may fix this to a 5 later, especially if they decide to sponsor the Nashville Women's Rugby Team lol Also note they fill growlers for a reasonable price too and have a nice beer garden.

I almost gave 'em 4 stars in stead of 5 because it's hard to get up the back stairs while intoxicated, but I just couldn't do it. After all, if I fall, I won't feel it. Bertha (their mighty fine stout) takes good care of you in that department with the 3rd one. The food... Again, DaYum tasty! Their Ruben is the best I have ever tasted, and I've had a few. Okay, don't judge me, but the bartenders and servers, HOT as hell Manly men... Luckily, Bertha gives me an excuse for drooling! In all seriousness, It's great place to hang with friends while eating good food, listening to chill music, and drinking some pretty freaking awesome beer.

There is still a lot for me to experience at this place before I can give it a proper review, but I can give you a perspective from a "meet up with some buddies for a beer" perspective. The joint has a great vibe, after you convince yourself that they are indeed open, despite the fact the front door leads into an empty room full of beer brewing equipment. After working your way through the expansive, mostly empty, space you reach a door that opens into a room that rings with the vibe of the Pacific Northwest. Wood abounds, from the benches, chairs, tables and bar. Richly lacquered timber tabletops and recycled pallet wood walls creates a charming blend of new and old that seems the latest trend using upcycled materials. Still sporting the logos outside of the old Fluffo Mattress Co., this place contains all the charm you might expect from a place that embraces the old while making something new. I never made it outside to the patio, which I hear is one of the more charming features, but I was there to drink a beer with a few friends, so I didn't tour the place. I started with a sampler flyte, as I do at every micro-brew joint I visit. They had a small but good selection of beers, leaning to the darker side, which I really appreciate. Here is what I had: First up, the Ginger American Wheat Ale, which is just about a light as I can imagine anyone ever wanting a beer. It was a very subtle and mild beer and I could just make out a touch of ginger. It was one of my least favorite beers on tap, I definitely think it could use a little more body and a touch more ginger. Next in the line was what I thought they called Black Betty IPA on the menu, but they call Black Betty India Black Ale on the website. I may not be that educated on the technicalities of beer classification, but there was nothing Pale about that ale. Typically, I am not a fan of IPAs, as I don't like hopsy beers, but this is where the difference between a P and a B is huge. I really enjoyed the burnt malt flavoring of the Black Ale, it worked really nicely with the bitterness of the hops. This is probably my favorite variation of an IPA that I've ever tried. The night I was there, they were out of their Ruby Red American Ale, and I don't remember what they replaced it with. I want to say it was an IPA of some sort, but I really don't remember. I look forward to trying Ruby Red on a future visit. Next up was Bertha Oatmeal Stout. I'm generally a stout drinker, so I expected this beer to be my favorire. It had a nice body and was really smooth, but up popped my little enemy-- hops-- to give it a slightly bitter finish that took away a little of it for me. Still, I really enjoyed this beer and imagine drinking some pints of it in the future. Last on the flyte was the Java Jane Coffee Porter, my least favorite beer. It tasted like someone took a cup of coffe and topped it up with a Guinness. The coffee flavor overpowers any of the other ingredients of the beer. I think the brewers are well aware of this, as they suggest using this beer as an ice cream float... something I'd be willing to try, but not because of its characteristics as a beer, but its characteristics as a coffee beverage. Overall, my experience with the beers were good, but much like it's near by competitor The Pharmacy, it really lacks as a beer joint because of it's lack of reasonable appetizers. Everything on the menu is $8-10 and is meal heavy and not very shareable. One member of our party discovered you can order a side of potato wedges for ~$3, but that option isn't listed on the menu. I know it makes more business sense to only offer entrees, but for the budget minded person, it makes me more inclined to stop by to fill up a growler and have friends to the house were we can eat something less than a meal. But then again, since their closing time is 10pm, they aren't really going for a bar crowd and aiming more for the dinner and lunch crowd. Since I didn't get over there until close to 9PM for drinks, my experience was limited. I look forward to going again sometime soon when I can try some of the food and perhaps experience the patio. Overall, my experience was good, and I think Fat Bottom is a great addition to East Nashville. While I may not become a regular, I'll definitely be going there again.

Fat Bottom Rocks. We didn't arrive at a scheduled tour time, but Ben (the owner) was nice enough to give us a quick tour through the brewery anyway. Super lucky for us! The brewery does some cool things I haven't seen elsewhere, like reusing the hot water coming out of the wort chiller to be used in the next batch of beer. If you're a homebrewer or have interest in brewing, it was a great and informative tour. The beer was all good. The Java Jane coffee porter was my favorite. The Black Betty IPA was pretty rocking also. We did not get a chance to try the food, but it smelled great and multiple people eating around us recommended the burger. Leon, the bartender with the stylish mustache and hat, was great to talk to. He told us about how the taproom was made using all recycled materials from wooden pallets used as a wall to all of the furniture being made from a Poplar tree felled in a storm. They do all sorts of neat things, like a weekly experimental beer you can try in the tap room. The taproom has a great outdoor area setup, there was a painting lesson being set up when we were there which looked like a lot of fun. Really cool place, one of the highlights from our recent trip to Nashville!

New Saturday hang out alert. They created a real beer garden!!! Not only that but they served an incredible ($10) burger. New favorite gourmet burger, okay tied with Holland House. We also shared ($9) duck confit quesadillas. The tap room is decently sized but the real gem is the outside area. They have minimal tables along the wall but they have plenty of bench space in the green patio area. I still contend that this would be a great place to have a small wedding. It rivals Rumours East patio except it's minimalist/modern inspired instead of rustic and homey. I went for the sampler because you have to on the first visit. Even though I've had Fat Bottom at the EN Beer Festival I had to sit down and give it a real taste. I was really digging the Oatmeal Stout and strangely I like the Black Betty IPA. I HATE IPA's but I kind of like this one. It doesn't make sense. This place is awesome and it's going to change the area. Once Edley's and The Crying Wolf get up and running, the area is going to be prime!

I was super excited to go to Fat Bottom Brewing in East Nasty. I'm a huge brew fan and I love checking out new local spots. I have to admit, the food was delicious. I had the spinach mackintosh salad and it was uh-mazing. However, the issue with this being the first thing I mention is that it is first and foremost a brewery. I wasn't super impressed with the brews that i sampled. All in all, the prices were good, the atmosphere was enjoyable and the beer was beer.

We've been a handful of times. The Positives: the atmosphere, the live band on Friday's, the French fries, most of the beers (when they have them). The Negatives: the food is bland (except the fries), the service - especially when seated outside - is slow and once our particular server messed up our bill 4 times (we finally went to bartender to pay), twice have had drinks served in glasses that reeked of mildew, have run out of beer that we ordered. I really really wanna love this place. But I think it's just gonna have to be "ok".

Writing this review of being a serial brewery nerd(asheville, boulder etc) First off the local: The design is pretty sweet. The actually brewery is open to walk through, and the have some really nice machinery and it was kept very clean..This is obviously more than a backyard hobby operation(although some of my favorite breweries have been).. The tap room has a nice modern rustic design, wood paneled with a woodtop..Seating is communal for the most part(ala burger up) with large carved out picnic tables and benches being the main option. There are a few four/six top tables, however in the evening you will be hardpressed to get a seat here..We ssat at the bar, and it was just fine.. The noise level is fairly high here, as it should be when large groups of people get together with the sole purpose of drinking.. The beer is pretty straight forward..They have six main brews and a rotating 30gal(?) small batch..The flagship beer, the Ruby, is the best choice...a nice amber ale, with good flavoring hops, and a nice hop/malt ratio with complex fruit esthers from whatever yeasts they are using..the only down fall is the bittering hops leave a sort of apsriny after taste, but nothing to deduct serious points for..The oatmeal stout was my other fave..They hit the full bodiness on the head, and the smoky malt flavor was perfect and not overwhelming.. The other beers are pretty straightforward. Including the two faves combined with the sheer volume of craft beer on the shelf today, I would say that fat bottoms beer is a great addition to nashville, and a good choice for people who love to drink real beer, but nothing is truely exceptional enough to write home about.. The biggest downfall I see here is the price..At 5 to 6 bucks a pint, I have to call it a little expensive, considering I can get the Ruby at other bars for 4.50, and those bars are paying a distributor..It may be the status quo in Nashville, but in more brewery advanced cities, such as asheville(where pints are three bucks at taprooms), most breweries knock a buck off the price because you are getting it straight from the souce..i.e. its cheaper for them, so they make it cheaper for you..This is the first brewery that I've been to where the pints are pricier at the actual tap room! I suspect this is because the taproom is located in a pretty trendy neighborhood and they know they can ask for six bucks a pint.. I didnt get a chance to try the food, but I was told that the taquitos were excellent, the kale was good, and the reuben was ho-hum.. The menu seemed slightly disjointed, a mix of artisan and bar food..I would probably stick to the lower priced items, as it seems that is what the kitchen(from what I could see) was set up to excel at. One plus side is given the locale, and the fact that this is somewhat of a hipster hotspot at the moment, there was never a hint of pretentiousness or arrogance..an affliction that seems to be slowly infiltrating the nashville local culture.. One final downside, probably incidental: I ordered the flight(ten bucks) which is six-four ounce pours..the bartender brought back seven, to include the seasonal, which I thought was pretty cool of him, as he told me "I'd prob like to try it"..However, upon getting the check, I realised he'd charged me for the extra pour, which I thought was a sort of cheap way to boost the ticket price under the radar.. For what it's worth, the taproom/brewery has great vibes, and Fat Bottom is a good contender in the local Nashville brew scene, so it's definitely worth checking out at least once..

I can see myself becoming a regular here. It turns out I already know 2 of the guys that work here, so I'll def be in good company. I've waited to visit the brewery so as to not be bombarded by big crowds or long waits for service since the big opening. Finally visited here last night and I m going again tonight! The food and service were wonderful and the beers are definitely some to boast about. As a big fan of porters and stouts, I'm surprised and thrilled that they have more than one dark beer, unlike most other small breweries. I started with the sampler, which inlcudes a 5oz pouring of their 4 beers for $6 (their 5th beer coming soon!). I truly love them all, but I'm totally diggin the Ruby Red. Also read on their twitter to ask them about the Red Bettie: half Ruby Red + half Black Bettie...a must-try for tonight! Ended up walking out of there with a growler of the Bertha Oatmeal Stout and 2 tshirts....and two beer glasses with their logo. Yep. big fans after one try. That's gotta tell ya something! Can't wait to wear my shirt at the Beer Fest next wknd. Fat Bottom will be there too!! Also, we can't forget the food. The deviled eggs with crab were AMAZING. Going back for more food tonight! See ya there!!!

This brewery is an awesome spot to hangout. The beers are awesome and the place is decorated with a trendy vibe. They have an outside area that is awesome to hang out with a group of friends. Wednesday nights they have cornhole which is a blast!

*Facepalm* how have I NOT been here?! Brewery, burgers, live music...it sounds so like Nashville, and yet I just finally experienced this place for the first time. There's something wrong with that. Having never been here, and meeting friends for lunch, gave me a chance to briefly explore. Walk in, huge brewery making yummy beers up front, follow the signs to the taproom, which seems small until you realize there's a large outdoor patio complete with stage. Yes, please, thank you. Also, they had a beer special on a SATURDAY (special shout out to the waitress who brought us our checks, fessed up that she forgot about this magicalness, which we weren't even aware of, and fixed our checks...honest service? YES). Already I'm thrilled. They do simple menu items, mostly burgers and such (and a falafel wrap for you vegetarians out there, that is really good as well), and their fast food burger is amazing. A little kick on it, not too spicy but enough to wake you up. And really good fries. It's a little small here and definitely loud but it was such a great experience. The beer is really good and I am always a fan of trying local. Honestly, though my experience was brief, I was really impressed and am looking forward to going back. Parking can be a premium, so just keep that in mind during prime hours. But its not expensive the service is great, and the beer is cold. Not much more you need to enjoy an afternoon.

I visited Fat Bottom Brewing on its opening night. It was packed to the gills with people of all kinds. I was happy to see the people of Nashville come out to show support for local small businesses. It gives me hope for our country where some might say that if you have a small business "you didn't build that". The location is not that great as it does reside in a not-so-great part of town. However, once inside, location means nothing and atmosphere takes over. Entering through the front door, you pass the brewery where you can spy brew kettles and other tools of the brewing trade. There is another brewing room in the middle of the building. Once you pass through this middle room, you enter the taproom. It's warm and inviting with wood on the walls and ceilings. A series of tables line the left wall while the bar stands proudly to the right. At the back left corner there is door to the courtyard. I quite like the mood and feel of this room. There were 3 beers on tap and 4 bartenders serving those beers. I went for the Ginger American Wheat Ale. It was a light golden color and had a distinct taste. The bartenders were polite and did their best to keep up with demand as the crowd continued to grow. The courtyard is nice here. There is some cover for those rainy days and several unique benches to take a load off. The brewery can accommodate quite a lot of people and it was tested on opening day. There were so many people there that I ended up leaving after just one beer. I do plan to come back though as I would love to try some of their other brews and maybe enjoy the atmosphere while sitting at the bar rather than standing in the courtyard.

I really can't say enough good things about this place. Very good beer and truly excellent food. Good vibe, attentive service, great music on the speaker system. I came on a saturday around 6pm. Plenty of seating available and server came by pretty quickly. The outdoor space looked nice but we decided to sit inside. My friend and I tried four house beers and they were all solid. No crazy flavors and only around 8 beers to choose from but they were well done so that's fine. The menu was also small but solid. As a vegan, I always check out menus online before eating somewhere. This place had a falafel sandwich that looked like it could be made vegan--fine. However, when we showed up, the special was a vegan bahn mi with seitan! Jack pot! And it was AWESOME. As good as any seitan sandwich from a 100% vegan restaurant. They should seriously think about adding it to the regular menu. The fries were very good too. Thick and handcut. My friends got the fat bottom burger and he said it tied for the best burger he's ever had.

The brewery is great. I love the sample platter of beers, but their food is the real treat. Cool vibe with lots of wood. Apparently people really like it cause you can actually bring your kids there too. The beer garden area is awesome for good weather. Especially nice at night. It's a good first date place. Also right by the filling station if you want to stop and get crafted beer for your ride home...

First of all... allow me to apologize for not reviewing sooner!! Let me start this with review with: THIS WAS MY CHOICE PLACE FOR CELEBRATING MY BIRTHDAY, BACK IN OCTOBER AND I HAD NEVER BEEN BEFORE. Birthday celebrations out and about are important, right? You want to make sure that its mutually agreeable place for everyone involved... and in my case I had made a facebook event thing so who the hell knew who was gonna show up, right?! Upon arrival, I informed the pleasant staff that I didn't know exactly how many people would be joining my party but that it'd probably be more than 10. They extended the offer of bringing out plates and forks and a knife for the cake that my friend had brought along for me. As more of my friends started to show up, I realized we were taking over this here taproom, there were over 30 of use in there and I was worried the staff was going to be annoyed with is taking over the room unexpectedly... but.. QUITE THE OPPOSITE! They all came out and helped rearrange tables to accommodate everyone! Not only that, but the servers were also extremely attentive! Despite the sudden large flock of people, not one of my friends had to wait long for a beer to brought to them and their glasses never remained unwillingly empty for more than a quick moment! I didn't know what to expect from the menu... but that veggie burger I ordered... it. was. SUPERB!!! In my opinion it rivals the Pharmacy's veggie burger (not to be confused with their falafel burger, bc nothing on earth is better than that) and I was so thrilled and happy. OH AND THE BEER! The main reason I wanted to try this place! The beer was great! I prefer porters and stouts and I was thoroughly impressed by Bertha! That beer is the bees knees, y'all! Java Jane might have been a little too on the java side but i'd probably love it if I were craving coffee at night. Bothy Ruby Red and Black Bettie are great too, from what I thought.. but like I said, I prefer porters and stouts mostly. So all in all, I have Fat Bottom Brewing to thanks for a wonderful 23rd birthday celebration. It was filled with great beer, delicious food, and provided an awesome setting for lots of my friends from all different walks to meet each other and be merry. Thanks for the wonderful night, you guys, and next time I decide to bring a hoard of people I promise I will call days in advance just in case!!!

Continues to disappoint. For a brewery, Fat Bottom turns out consistently dispassionate beer with more art in the beer names than in the beer glass. Far from simply being bland, some brews can even be shockingly unbalanced in flavor, and all beers here continue to be far too highly carbonated. Ever wonder what it might feel like to swallow a fistful of Alka Seltzer?--a pint or two of Fat Bottom suds will probably clue you in. Such characteristics persisting this long after opening make it pretty clear that Fat Bottom is making little attempt to innovate and has simply settled into a comfy niche of brewing mediocre beer. And the sad thing is that such complacency is probably not a bad *business* decision given that Nashville's brewing scene has miles to go to catch up to it's blindingly-brilliant food scene. Indeed, if you added up all the reviews here here, I bet most of the positive reviews for Fat Bottom would focus first on the quality of Fat Bottom's food (which is admittedly quite good) and then on it's trendy "vibe". So, for a casual after work meeting point for relaxing and socializing (whilst drinking some semblance of beer) I'd say Fat Bottom is passable. However, as a quality brewery it remains remarkably unremarkable.

I didn't eat, so I can't review the food, but this rating is for my overall experience. I love Yazoo and Jackalope brews, but I have always felt like their taprooms were just ok. Fat Bottom heard my silent prayer, and answered in spades. Large, well designed bar inside. To get there, you walk through the actual brewery and smell the yeast and hops in raw form. Once in the bar, it's spacious and the dark wood gives off a great vibe. There is a beer garden next to the taproom that is awesome. You have outdoor seating, benches, and some well maintained grass in the concrete jungle where Fat Bottom lives. Staff was super friendly (also a complaint with the other taprooms in town, it's really hit or miss with service). Not so here though. 3 separate people helped out and they had smiles from ear to ear. Overall, GO NOW!

Very Loud food was super greasy! Beer was good - but girly beer I would say. Its smaller, and all the chairs/benches are wooden with small seats, so don't plan on getting too comfortable. I don' t think I'll be back.

Burgers burgers burgers. The burgers are amazing. The sides we tried (fries, mac and cheese) were average but not terrible. I don't drink beer so I can't review it but my understanding was that it is also excellent. I can't wait to go back and eat more burgers.

I met some buddies at Fat Bottom for beer and dinner last night, and was blown away. The service was quick, even though they were busy. I tried three of the beers, a ginger beer, a hoppy ale and a dark ale. All three were solid. For dinner I had the chicken schnitzel. I don't know what schnitzel is, and I would never have ordered it had it not been for the cajoling of my fiends - but it was excellent both in taste and in presentation. It was on special meaning that for $10 it came with a pint. An excellent value. The zen garden was nice as well, very relaxing. Parking is no problem. I don't usually get "across the river," but I will definitely be back (it's less than 5 minutes from downtown). Any Yelpers who frequent Yazoo should give this spot a try - you may never go back to Yazoo.

On one of our craft beer searches and found Fat Bottom. We purchased tickets for a tour and showed up early to have a beer and relax. We discovered a great place with fantastic atmosphere, super friendly staff and some great craft brew. The tour was given by the owner who was very good at what he does and explains everything about the business. The beers are a wide range of taste from malty to my favorite....HOPPY! We were pleased to discover good food including vegetarian fare. I would say this place has it all and we will be visiting again real soon. I hope this fun little place does very well and is open for a very long time.

Fat Bottom Brewery is the latest addition to Nashville's craft beer scene. Located on Main Street in East Nashville, it's easy to get to, although parking seemed like it could be an issue. My first visit happened to be through Girls' Pint Out, which is starting a chapter in Nashville - yay - and only four weeks after the brewery opened. So, my experience was maybe a little different than other visitors, but still worth a review. First of all, the brewery is a startup if I ever heard of one - the owner/founder has been brewing his own beer for ten years (although he's a very young guy still - case in point: he had his infant with him later in the evening) and he just adores it. I applaud him for taking a leap of faith and starting his own brewery (like so many dream of) and can't wait to continue supporting his beer venture. The rest of the staff were awesome - welcoming, amiable, knowledgeable, and patient. I give them two thumbs-up. The patio area, although it could use some larger picnic tables for larger groups, was perfect for an evening with 70-degree weather. Note: you can enter from the back alley into the patio directly if you are parked back there. A large group of cyclists showed up around the time we left to enjoy beers together in the outdoor courtyard. Inside, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. For only having been open for four weeks, there were a good number of people there. The taproom is open Tuesday through Sunday from 4-10 (don't quote me on the Sunday) and 2-10 on Saturdays. Tours are offered on Saturday and Sunday (I think that's right), unless the owner is brewing. The beers were delicious - the selection isn't huge, but come on, they just opened. There was a red ale, a stout, an IPA and a wheat beer available when we went. The porter is on its way in the near future. The owner adores pale ales, but decided to skip on creating a pale ale at the beginning since "everyone does a pale ale." I tried the red ale and the stout and enjoyed both. Although I didn't try the food, I saw a burger and the cheese plate come out - I would easily try both next time I'm there. Yum. Tips: Get a flight to try all the beers in one visit. Talk up the owner if he's there to learn about the brewery and how he chose the name (hint: it's not based ona Queen song!). Arrive early to park if you're coming with a large group. In the end, I can't wait to return to Fat Bottom Brewery with friends. A great addition to East Nashville and the Nashville beer scene.

I love this new addition to the East Nashville scene. And it's my new favorite brewery, by a landslide. The black IPA was just hoppy enough with a more mellow flavor than some of its Nashville brethren. I love the decor in the renovated mattress factory - warm, inviting and spacious. The courtyard is beautifully done, but seems a bit under utilized. It could use some larger picnic tables and maybe a ping pong table or two. But very kid accommodating and spacious. We had the combo cheese charcuterie platter - good local sampling of meats and cheeses. Our server was the perfect blend of timely and mood-appropriate snarky. The Journey blaring inside was a surprise, but not an altogether unpleasant one.

Although it's a micro-brewery tap room and the beer is excellent, the burger is the real star of the show at Fat Bottom Brewing. In my opinion they serve the best burger in town. Seriously it's head-and-shoulders above any burger I have tried in Nashville. The other local burger joints should take notes. Fat Bottom does it right. Other things that make this a great place; good service, nice bar area, excellent patio and they fill growlers.

  • Paul P.

Intriguing, unfiltered beers, lovely pin-up-girl logos, and shapely woodwork define this renovated section of an old mattress factory. There's a brew room with a ledge counter and a barroom with friendly bros serving up the brews and what looked like some fancy-pants tapas-like devices. Outside is a fresh little zen-garden courtyard. They had three beers on tap so far - I tried two and really enjoyed the Black Betty (all beers are named according to their respective pin-up girl). I went on their opening Friday and it was quite a melange of people - everyone from the Attorney General and men in sportcoats to the usual Five-Points crowd and a few shades in between. I can only hope it maintains this kind of mix. It's like a subcultural safari over heyah.

  • Christian S.

This place is already solid, and my guess is that it's only going to get better. Love the pinup girls theme for the names of their beers (Ginger, Black Bettie, Bertha, Ruby...). Their logo is great and I dig the creativity. Speaking of, why not use the abandoned Fluffo Mattress factory and turn it into a brewery? The entrance is in the back, through the beer garden. The front side of the building (on Main Street, a few blocks south of 5 Points) literally is the Fluffo Mattress factory, old signs and all. I love the beer garden - it's big, neatly landscaped, and feels like it's underground (you walk down a few flights of wooden stairs to get to the ground floor and the entrance to the tap room). So far, my favorite brew is the Oatmeal Stout, but according to a friend who bartends there, they're planning on rolling out new beers fairly consistently. I still prefer Blackstone's beer overall, but there's lots of potential here. Do yourself a favor - order food. The "specials" menu rotates constantly, and everything I've tried has been great. The chef is ambitious, and the fare definitely rises above standard pub quality. I had a scallop special with braised turnip greens that knocked it out of the park. The charcuterie plate is delicious, as well. The food menu is limited, but it seems that their efforts here are focused very much on quality, not quantity. If you're a Facebooker, they update their feed often with specials and daily food items.

Food is great!! Beer is not so good but will probably get better. Music playing was WAY too loud. I was with a very large group and we could barely converse. We got tired of trying and finally left and went elsewhere. Service was slow but has always been.

My second stop in my brewery tour of Nashville's craft beer scene recommended to me through beeradvocate. Total change of pace from yazoo. Smaller, darker, rockabilly feel to it. No crazy big crowds coming and going. Even the location seemed a little more working class. Dived right into the 7 beer sampler and ranked them all from 3-3.5 on untappd. Solid brews all around. There is an empty bottle of Pliny the Elder teasing any one who knows about that beer in the display case. Can't speak for the food but the small menu did look appealing. The waitress was on top her game and beer knowledge which made my time here even more fun.

I am definitely one of the hundreds (thousands?) of East Nash residents who jumped up and down when I heard the Fluffo building was being converted into not one but TWO brew-pubs -- need I ever ford the Cumberland again?! Although disappointed that the 'cross-the-pretty-courtyard other half of the building has yet to produce sudsy treats for me and my loved ones, I'm increasingly pleased with Fat Bottom's offerings. A fan of a hoppier brew, I've returned a couple times since their addition of the Knockout IPA. I also enjoyed the blended "Red Betty" on my last visit more than either the Black Betty or the Ruby Red, so big ups for giving that a whirl and adding it to the menu. Fat Bottom makes it to all the beer festivals, and has taps in all my favorite local joints, so they're doing a bunch RIGHT when it comes to friend-raising. The bar atmosphere is right on, the staff friendly as any, and the Tuesday specials on their DELICIOUS food + pints makes for a fantastic weeknight date. This past Saturday, when computer flubbed our happy hour prices and we mentioned this to the server, they turned ALL our pints into $3 charges and apologized profusely for the error. Nice. Excited to patronize this biz for years to come.

Fat Bottom has a wonderful atmosphere, delicious food, and rich beer. You won't like their beer if you're a miller lite person, but go out on a limb and try the Black Better (black IPA), it's the best. I had my 30th birthday dinner here and the staff was very accommodating. This is my go-to place for dinner if I don't feel like researching a new spot. Enjoy!

The servers are very nice. The potato wedges with avioli sauce goes really well with the beer.

Currently in the restaurant and have been sitting for 40 min with no food order taken. Really wanted to like this place but had to tell the server we were leaving. Probably won't be giving this place another chance. The service was absolutely terrible.

Loved the brews here. Our server was very friendly and attentive to us. It was a great crowd. I cant wait to visit in the spring so we can sit outside in the courtyard. I had a chance to try the Deviled Eggs with Crab. They were OK but they were no great. The egg mixture could use some salt and pepper. I will definitely return though. The beer sampler was awesome. Good robust brews!

The Food: They won me over with the Bangers and champs. Absolutely delish. Cured salmon BLT was legit too. The chef knows what's he's doing. The Beer: Inventive and wonderful. changes seasonly. ginger wheat is where it's at. The Service & Staff: friendly, knowledgeable, personable, cool. The Vibe: Clean, Industrial, unpretentious, simple. outdoor space is a nice touch too. I will be a regular : )

Good: staff! Bad: average food and you leave smelling like a deep fryer . The staff are the good points. servers and bar tenders were excellent. I ordered blue cheeseburger with caramelized onion was ok not that great. The burger was messy and fell apart. The soggy potato wedges were also average at best. They have Limited beer selection. The location is kinda neat. But it has fatal problems . There was a hazy greasy smoke cloud in the dining room. Our clothes wreaked of grease. Could be a cool place to hang but you can't go anywhere else because you smell like a grease trap.

Awesome new hangout spot inside the Old Fluffo in East Nashville. Awesome beer garden is a great place to hang out.

This place looks great; the inside ambiance is close to perfect and the outdoor patio area looks great too. The beers are enjoyable and they're doing a great job getting them out to a number of bars around town. The duck quesadilla was delicious and made me pretty hard.

Great little startup. Although only three beers currently on the menu, all are pretty good, especially if you like dark beers. Both the Black Betty and Bertha Oatmeal Stout are fantastic. Appetizers are pretty good as well. Well worth the trip!

It takes a lot to get 4 stars from me, and whilst not exactly my kinda place to hang out, this business is first class. We four arrived at 7.30pm. it was packed. Long benches and some tables. We managed to perch at the bar. Decor was woody all over, nicely done. Bar Lady was attentive and efficient, smile never left her face. Kitchen was pumping out the food, all nicely plated, lots of burgers. We ate bangers and champ mash, two porter rd sausages with mashed tater and gravy $10, friends had chilli cheese wedges, $5, a generous portion, my chums had a pint each of something $4.50 and enjoyed it. There is an outside gravel and seated area which would benefit nicely from some firepits and perhaps moveable seating. Liquor license is applied for so hopefully I can get a drink there soon. You could really tell peeps were enjoying working there. Entrance is round the back, brewery is at front so it looks empty from main street. I would go back earlier and on a week day.

I love this place - the staff is amazingly friendly and welcoming; the food is fantastic, especially given the limited space for them to work in; the beer is awesome; the patio is quiet and beautiful; the main dining (drinking!) area is calm and inviting. I can't wait to become a regular here...

I have been to Fat Bottom twice now and had their beers on a few other occasions. The ambiance is nice, and the limited menu offers some items that stand up nicely to the beers. For a new brewery I think they are finding their way nicely. The Rhonda and Black Betty are two of my favorites. Last night I had a flight with a Blue Burger and then picked a pint of Rhonda. The burger was very juicy, just the right amount of tang from the blue cheese, but perhaps heavy handed with the mustard. I am a girl who loves her mustard but that made the burger pretty messy to eat. There was a side of potato wedges which were cooked well but completely unseasoned. This wouldn't have been an issue if there were s&p on the table. To be fair, I still ate them all. Two friends ordered the charcuterie board. It had a very generous display, including some blood sausage which was only appreciated by the more adventurous diners, but enjoyed by those. My only other comment is the seating. The tables are beautiful, as are the benches. The benches however are REALLY heavy and only seat two comfortably. If one is sitting already you have to completely stand up to move the seat and get the second person in. The gorgeous benches look like they were an investment so I don't see that changing but its just my observation. If they decide to unload them I would happily take one. The courtyard looks great so I can't wait for DST and warm weather to get out there and enjoy it! All in all I think this is a great spot and love seeing development on this end of Gallatin Road.

my original one star review was filtered for some reason by the yelpsters. possibly because it was constructively critical? please look up the filtered reviews (some of them totally positive) for alternative/additional viewpoints. makes me wonder how many other positive or critical reviews have gotten the filter by yelp. i will now look at the filtered reviews every time i use yelp as a resource. randomly censoring reviews seems counter to the reason why someone would look to yelp for reviews in the first place.

Fat Bottom is so cool! It was a hot day .. a very hot and humid day. Passing through Nashville on my cross country trip from Virginia to WA we stumbled upon (not really .. I looked it up on Yelp) this amazing dog friendly find. The outdoor seating is .. pretty. Like really pretty. With ceiling fans going and lots of seating options Fat Bottom Brewing has got to be the prettiest brewery I have ever been to. The food was great and the IPA definitely stood out. I recommend popping in here with your pup and just relaxing. It was 90 degrees out and humid but totally bearable and maybe even pleasurable because the ceiling fans, beer, food and service.

I give this place 4 stars mostly because of atmosphere and food. The beer is ok, more like 3 stars most of the time. I will say, however, the beer has been gradually improving since I first came here last November. My favorites are the stout, black ipa, and I've had luck with their small batches they put out weekly. The food has always been impressive. Burger and fries, some of the best. The service is decent and the owners have always been friendly. Nice place, I just hope the beers continue to improve.

This is a really cool brewery/bar/restaurant. For starters, the beer selection is really great. The ginger beer is my favorite, but I went the flight route so I could check out the range of beers available. There's an amazing outdoor patio that is dog friendly, and there's a great food menu that is me friendly. Check this place out!

I wish I could give half stars... Because 3 is really too low for my overall satisfaction but 4 is too high. I had the fruit beer on tap, as did my friend, and it was very good! We also split the hummus plate, which was perfect for the two of us as a light dinner option. Prices were fair and servings were a good size. We also got a penny tour of the brewery which was very informative and interesting. The only thing I didn't love about the place was the comfortability of the joint. All the tables and chairs were handcrafted and beautiful but after being there only an hour, dancing and hanging with new friends, I felt so achy and sore! My friend has some back issues and it was way worse for her. I just felt that for a neighborhood bar/pub feel, they were lacking in comfort big time. To go back here I'd need to pull a grandma and take a cushion.

The Fat Bottom taproom was a super chill relaxing spot, with a surprising variety of beer on tap. I've been to numerous breweries and taprooms around the US and they all have their beer little thing going on, but FBB is more than just that. I absolutely love the fact that they have taken the time to create such a nice ambiance, with friendly bench style seating at cool wooden tables. There's a bar and restaurant area with the list of what's on tap, a full restaurant area, even another room in the back and a small corner stage, since this is the Music City after all. In fact, we had actually planned on heading somewhere else for dinner, but the band playing was so great that we didn't want to leave. Once we really started to look at the menu, we were sold and decided to stick around and make a night of it. I really appreciated a legit dinner menu at a taproom and not just light bar snacks. Again, this just speaks to how FBB has created a warm space where folks can really enjoy themselves. I didn't go for a burger, but they looked wonderful and huge (yes, that's me looking over your shoulder to see what you ordered and how it looks). I was trying to keep dinner quasi-healthy since I planned on drinking most of calories. We ordered a delicious beet and mozzarella salad on spinach. It was really great with lots going on in the flavor department. Perfect amount of dressing, nuts and cheese. My buddy had the poutine fries and they looked good, but I just not a poutine kinda gal. No offense gravy-fry lovers. We also had the hummus sampler platter thingie. I was completely surprised by the level of deliciousness coming out of these tasty spreads. Olive tapenade, I'm talking to you. Now finally on to the beer! We go there pretty late in the evening and didn't get a chance to take a tour of the brewery, but the scene was set for an awesome night as soon as we walked in and I was ready to get to drinking. I tried full flight of each of the tasty brews on tap that night. As I went down the line, I Ruby Red first caught my attention, quickly followed by the Black Betty. So it was no surprise that my absolute total fav was the Red Betty, which was a pretty tasty blend of the previous two. I'm not sure if the RB is usually on tap or if this was a special blend. Definitely worth checking out if you see it. Overall I really liked a lot of the beers, but Red Betty takes the cake. I really hope to get back and take a tour of the brewery since they are truly putting out some tasty brews.

I have had a few Fat Bottom beers at area pubs, so I was excited to try the tasting room. Unfortunately it missed the mark. The space is cool, with beautiful long wood tables. We sat down quickly and got menus and our first orders in quickly. We received our beers pretty quickly. We had a Java Jane (coffee porter) and a couple Berthas (oatmeal stouts). The weren't bad but we just weren't rushing to finish them up. The Bertha had an unrefined sharpness to it, more like someone mixed the oatmeal stout with the IPA in haste. Not bad but not competitive with other craft brews. And yes, I love unfiltered beer - that wasn't the issue. We said we wanted to order food but the waitress disappeared. We went to the bar to order finally and the online menu turned out to be different from what was available. "We haven't had that since, like, last spring." I guess Winter Menu means last winter, not this one. The live entertainment was a nice surprise, a good band (I forgot their name unfortunately). For some reason only a few of the patrons paid any attention to the well-written lyrics and music. Things get better with time, and I'm optimistic Fat Bottom Brewing will improve, but this visit was a little disappointing.

I'm happy to be able to give Fat Bottom this 5-star rating. Had I reviewed them at this same time last year, I would have been hard pressed to give them 3. Fat Bottom has always had the awesome branding, good marketing, cool location, good food, and nice local distribution; the only thing lacking was the beer. It was inconsistent, unimaginative, and I'll say it -- downright disappointing. A good friend of mine (whose beer palate I trust) let me know they had a new brewmaster and assistant brewmaster and things were different now. Boy is he right. The Lychee Weiss was my definite favorite, though the Ida was delicious as well. I can't wait to come back and try a flight in their awesome biergarten.

The tour was very informative, but also very hot. They did not tell us there was no air conditioning in the brewery! You also only get three samples. The tour costs only $5, so that was good for our wallets.

All I think of every time I see the name of this brewery is~ Big Booty Chicks, they think they is the ish. It's some kind of dance hit or something from the 90s. It totally does not apply to this brewery at all though because Fat Bottom has a jump jivin' throwback vibe way further back than the 90s circa 50s- early 60s. Everything about Fat Bottom screamed amazingness to me. I don't know about you but I always feel like it would have been my jam back in the 50s and 60s. I just loved that this place had that kind of feel in an updated 2014 type of way. The dimly lit interior lent itself well to the wood paneling & brightly colored Fat Bottom logo. The walls were lined with old school posters, the lights were old school and just a sampling of the old school music : Sherry by Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons Stay by Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs (Dirty Dancing soundtrack) some music from the Temptations Goodnight Sweetheart, Goodnight by The Spaniels I just kept singing along & quietly screaming, I love this music! The prices at this East Nashville brewery are completely reasonable with most pints being $5. I opted for a sampler to try many of their brews and with that had 6 generous 5 oz pours of beer for $10. I also got an extra pint just so I could try all the offerings available. That night on tap they had: Black Betty Red Betty Soulshine Schwarzbier - This only had 3 check ins on Untappd which made me feel uber special. It was a small batch Black beer and delicious. Ruby Red Knockout Ida - I'm not normally a golden ale girl but this tied for my favorite of the night. As if that wasn't enough on Saturdays from 12-5 they do $3 pints! And just about every day they have a special or some cool event going on. My friend and I went in about 830pm on a Saturday night and there were only a few others hanging out drinking aside from us. That is something you just NEVER get in Chicago! Our taprooms are packed to the brim every single day and especially in prime time on weekends. It was such a chill vibe being able to get a seat & actually hear our conversation that we very much appreciated. There's nothing not to love about Fat Bottom! Good beer, great atmosphere, friendly people working. Pro-Tip: When you walk in off the street, keep walking back. You enter in the brewery near the equipment and the tap room is in the back. And if it's nice out, they have an awesome patio area.

Saturday was strangely warm for February, so some friends and I ventured out to the patio at Fat Bottom. Pints are $3 all day Saturday until the evening. The space is great, there is lawn bowling or some sort of game out back, tables, and the inside has plenty of table space as well. What impressed me the most besides the good beer is the food. I had a trout over gnocci with andouille sausage and kale. WHOA! It was delicious, and only $14!!! I will definitely be back! In short, this is a great spot to eat some delicious and reasonably priced food and hang out with friends over beer.

Fat Bottom Brewing is a great place to stop in and have a beer or snack. They have a rotating selection of craft brews, and a small menu of food to get. Didn't get any of the food, but all of the beer was good. Grab a flight and try them all before you choose, and you can grab cans of growlers to go. They do tours during the week that are worth checking out.

I'll be the first one to admit that I don't drink that much beer. I prefer whiskey and wine. Well, not at the same time, but you get the idea. I came here on a Wednesday for trivia. Sign up starts at 6 & trivia starts at 7. We arrived at 6:40 & had no issues getting a seat. By 7 the place was packed. I decided on the "Ida" beer because it was 6.2 % & the others were lower. It was also billed as a pale ale & I thought that was something I'd had before. For someone who doesn't drink much beer (it makes me feel bloated & I prefer a little stronger drink when I drink) I really enjoyed it. It wasn't too hoppy & had a crisp taste. We ordered food also, I got the hot chicken sandwich with a side of mac & cheese. The hot chicken sandwich was a special of the day & was very yummy. It was spicy, but not so much that it was inedible. The mac & cheese was good also, but it was almost as spicy as the chicken. So, if you don't like spicy, don't get the mac & cheese. Trivia. I didn't care much for the trivia. The hosts didn't seem like they wanted to be there & the questions were only about 70-90s rock bands & cartoons. They didn't deviate from those topics over the 20 questions. The pace of the questions took a long time, like 5 minutes per question. The interior of the restaurant is nice, long tables & two seater chairs. I would love to come back on a warm night & sit outside in the huge courtyard they have.

I LOVED their beers. The ginger beer was especially delicious. The ambiance was awesome, totally chill. We didn't eat here, so I have no comment on the food other than it smelling great. The only reason they don't get five stars is because I REALLY wanted merch and they were sold out. They also only had the IPA in a four pack (which I purchased). Stock better!!

Fat Bottom's got a beer garden, it's pet (outdoor) and children friendly, and super friendly staff. They have all kinds of little fundraisers and events that happen. A few of their beers are great, we had a growler that was bad beer one time. The interior is modern/rustic and pretty spacious. It can get really loud with people and music. You can go when on the off hours (before happy hour) or right when they open if you want a little tranquility with your beer. Their food selection is decent. Their spicy chicken sandwich is really spicy in a good way, but be prepared. I am sad that they may move out of East Nashville, but hope they will stay.

I just adore this place. A cozy scene with friendly workers and yummy brews. I came here last summer with my brother and we ordered deviled eggs and a caprese salad. Both were just delightful and the waitress was fun. There is a big outdoor seating area where you can play corn hole on a warm day or soak in some rays while you drink an amber or a pilsner or whatever tickles your fancy. Definitely a hot East Nashville spot. Get a growler ;)

So they've fixed their kitchen situation - no more smoke in the dining room. Also we tried a few other options on the menu, including the bacon and green chili mac&cheese and one of the arugula salad options. They were both excellent!!!! ALSO the patio is open and you can play corn hole. The burger is still freaking amazing, the beer is great and sitting at the bar is super fun. I have no complaints whatsoever about this place. It's awesome. That is all there is to it.

4.5 Fat Bottom* just makes me happy. Local. Check. Kitschy names. Check. Great brews. Check. Food unexpected from a brewery. Check. Really nice employees/owners. Check. In a market like Nashville, it's easy for a hip brewery in a hip part of town to rest on its laurels and not go above or beyond. Even if FB had but a couple of the checkpoints listed above, it would still be a draw. But, given all the things going for it, the folks beyond FB strive for more and it shows. I love that all the beer have female names, back stories and personality. I have many ideas on additional ladies to add to the line-up, based upon style, seasonality and region. FB bigwigs, help me help you to add to your legion of ladies. Surprisingly to me, my favorite lady is Ida. I'm not much of a golden ale kind of guy but the aromatic citrus and clove notes (honey, too?) make this gal incredibly drinkable. To start my love affair with FB, I ordered a sampler and when I was through with the brew, I came back to Ida and ordered a pint. I fully expected to love Ruby (reds are a weakness) but found it a bit too hoppy for my tastes. Ida takes the cake. But, be sure to try all the drafts. There's something to love in all of them. I've yet to try Ginger or Java Jane but I'm hoping that will change in the coming winter months. FB also used to have a small batch they'd present on Wednesdays and let the masses drink until it ran out. I haven't seen a small batch in a while. I think it's because they're waiting on me for inspiration. Hint hint. But, beyond the beer, FB offers incredibly nice servers (shout out to Ashley), a beer garden that boasts live music and good vibes (must be the namaste flowing from the hot yoga next door) and a menu that has everything from blue cheese burgers to fries that will addict you to falafel to Indian food -- and it's all delicious. Who knew that a brewery would have choice ethnic vegetarian and vegan offerings? Oh, Edgefield. What a wacky 'hood you are. But as good as the food is... as nice as the servers are... as homey as the beer garden is... this is a Nashville brewery through and through. And, by that, I mean the beers are hoppy (for the most part; Nashville loves hops), the names are quirky and the pours are strong. Fat Bottom is one of the reasons Nashville is a choice destination in the Lower 48. *Add the 's' for additional happiness.

Is it a problem when the food is better than the beer at a brewery? Such is the conundrum I find Fat Bottom in. I love the nasty and I actually like the indoor/outdoor spaces at FB. The parlour games are fun and that burger is great. The beer?? Meh... It's fine, but in the world of Jackalope, Yazoo etc. the bar is set pretty high these days in the Ville and rightly so. I've always had a good time here, but if your measure of a brewery is the beer, you might leave with a tear.

After hearing about my friend rave about his blue cheeseburger, I had to try it. We had the blue cheese and the regular burger. It was okay, not the best by any means. The potato wedges were cold. I asked for hot fries and they were still tough and bland. The wait staff were super busy and we waited about 40 mins to get our waters. Why are there only 2 people to serve the whole place? We had the sampling of beer and it was okay. Ho hum beers. Blackstone beers are better if you like to support local brewery. Upside: They had cool furniture.

My first trip to Fat Bottom was June 28th of this year. Admittedly, it was the eighth brewery I visited while on an eight hour tour of local brew pubs so my initial impression was that I wanted to come back without my beer goggles. Boy am I glad I did! The husband and I made a field trip there this past Saturday and I must admit I was just as pleased as I was last weekend. And this time I made the trip without having had any bevvies prior to. The weather was perfect for spending some time in the bier garten. We cozied up at a corner table outside and perused the menu. My German went with an Ida, the Belgian style golden ale while I went with Ginger, the wheat ale. Although he is a German National and everyone hears all this hoopla about Germans drinking warm beer (not true), he and I both remarked that our drafts could have been a few degrees cooler. That being said, it was our only "complaint". I went with the Blue Cheese burger and hubs had the taquitos. His was filled with chorizo and had a sprinkling of cojita cheese on them. Quite tasty with the salsa! My burger was sublime. I asked for it medium rare/medium and I got a plate with a juicy burger cooked to perfection. The meat was the real star of the burger as it should be and the blue cheese added just the right punch to it. The bun on which it was served was toasted well and held together fabulously despite how succulent and moist the burger was. I would be hard-pressed to go there again and not get that burger. It has to be one of my top burgers I've had in Nashville. I paired it with the mac-n-cheese at my server's suggestion. That had Serrano peppers and bacon in it (she had me at bacon). It was delish - but then I saw my neighbor's fries and realized that too would have been a good choice. All in all a great experience and we decided that we would definitely be back soon to sample other beers and for me to get my burger fix satisfied. What's there not to love with a bier garten, craft brews, great atmosphere and attentive service?

Fat Bottom has good beer, a great vibe and happens to be local. I've been wanting to check it out for a few months since I first visited the nearby Filling Station. It's a gem of a brewery in Nashville. A sunken courtyard in the back contributes to its charm. I've acquired a taste for sour beers and the Lychee Berliner Weisse is a fantastic choice if you're trying to step out a bit and try a new beer. With a light body and a bit of tartness it's a great summer choice. I'll be sure to keep drinking.

I will give this 2 stars only because it does have good food and beer. However the hospitality in this place is seriously lacking. I'm from a small town and I'm accustomed to people talking to you if you sit at the bar alone. Absolutely nobody acknowledged me except for the bartender and that was only long enough to take my order. Apparently I have to be a guy with a very interesting beard, or have my whole body covered in tattoos, or have an instrument slung over my back in order to get attention. As it was, I'm just a basic young woman with a tshirt and jeans sitting alone at the bar and I felt invisible. I didn't even finish my 2nd beer because of how awful I felt. I won't be back.

I came here with my sister, brother in law, their roommate and a friend of mine that was going to be moving to Nashville around the same time as me. We came to check out the different areas so we stopped by Fat Bottom Brewing since my friend loves beer. I have to admit that I am not a big beer fan. I tend to like girlier drinks such as margaritas but decided to still go along with the flow. I think we went in the back entrance or maybe that is the front? I am not sure. That is the only confusing part of this place. We walked through the brewing area to get to the taproom part. Once we got in and sat down someone came to get our drink order. Even though this is a brewery I can't really fully comment on the beers but my friend ordered the sampler, I tried a few sips of each and they were all good. He really enjoyed them. I know he has been back since moving. Our food came out in waves which was weird but didn't bother me since I know it isn't a traditional restaurant. I ordered a burger which was a better version of a big mac. The burger was excellent! Not what I expected from a brewery that specializes in beer and not food. The fries were also excellent. My friend ordered a kale salad and said he loved it. My sister and brother in law ordered side items and they raved about how good everything was. All of us agreed that we didn't expect it to be so good but that we would all return again. We were all impressed.

We love traveling to new places and visiting breweries. I saw the the Fat Bottom Brewing ad one day and heard it was local. When driving down Main looking for a place to go, I saw the sign. We pulled the car around and hoped for a nice cold one. I wasn't sure they were even open and what a surprise. A very cool brew pub with food and drinks, a nice bar design. Very modern, unassuming from the classic signage outside. Homage to the Industrial area it was many years before. They had an event that evening, so the outdoors was full of people playing games and enjoying beer. We sat at the bar and ordered up three samplers for us and our friend. I enjoyed them all but the Ida and the Ginger was my favorite. Great spot, we were very lucky to just have happened upon it. Fat Bottom Brewery is a great Nashville find.

This is literally my favorite part of traveling. A microbrewery I've never been to! YAY! My friend and I were famished after the 4 hour drive to get here and decided to throw back a couple and get a bite to eat before spending our paychecks on Yuengling (you know you're from the east coast when...). As with most microbreweries, this place was crawling with hipsters. Not a problem, they're my favorite...they always know the best beer, music and thrift stores. I ordered a kale salad garnished with feta cheese, capers, orange slices and drizzled with some kind of light vinaigrette dressing. It was exactly what I had been craving. We ordered a beer flight of everything they had on tap. I was quite impressed with everything except for their hoppier selection. Typical...I never seem to enjoy anything too hoppy. Our server was very friendly, witty and accommodating. I will go out of my way to come here again.

Fat Bottom has amazing food, great beer, and is a really unique and fun space. If you haven't checked it out, you should! Enough said :)

Before I became a mama, you couldn't have convinced me a brewery was the bomb dot com place to hang out with a baby if you tried. I'd be 100% sure I was being punked. 9 months into mama-hood I'd like to worship at the teet of breweries - being excellent places to hang with families. My first intro to Fat Bottom was at a beer festival and it was awful, that being said, I am glad I was lured back into trying their actual location because they have (in order of things I love about it) 1. an awesome outdoor space - pretty landscaping, shade, rain covering, corn hole. Rad. 2. Happy hour - I am cheap and I love happy hours. 3. decent beer now - pretty solid stuff. I am generally a porter/stout girl. The offerings are pretty good, but oddly my favorite is the Ginger Wheat Ale, very balanced! 4. Good bar food - I've had a good veggie burger and a cuban style pork belly sandwich with local pickles and mustard. They support other businesses like themselves, very nice. Go support them! PS - they offer tours for $5, but I'd call ahead. Some friends had issues with miscommunication from the website.

Good brew, great food fun atmosphere. Fat Bottom's brews tend to be a bit hoppy IMHO, but there is a good selection that should appeal to almost everyone. I ordered the Piney Munich pale ale and was surprised to be served a deep red beer. According to the waitress, German style pale ales are not. Pale, that is. They have a delicious porter, all chocolatey and coffee tasting. We had a crowd with very diverse eating habits, everything from "regular" to vegan to paleo and the menu accommodated us all very well. The vegheads had Seitan sammies and a delicious looking kale salad. I, the paleo, had a shaved Brussels Sprout salad with strawberries, pecans, feta (which I asked them to leave off) and added grilled chicken to it. The dressing was light, fresh and lemony and perfectly enhanced the other ingredients. And the grilled chicken was very tasty and juicy. The Mac and cheese and hummus plate were also given the thumbs up. Prices are pretty good - $22 for 2 pints and the salad with chicken added. They have live music in the garden on Thursdays. Parking is skimpy, but there are several connected lots behind. The door is on Main St. or you can enter the beer garden on the left side or the back of the building.

I believe that Fat Bottom is the only brewery in east Nashville! My wife and I had lunch at one of the many outstanding restaurants in the area and decided to stop into this brewery. Fat Bottom has a very cool building. You basically walk through their equipment and kitchen to get to the seating area. It's a like a mini-tour. I haven't tried any of their food, but they have an impressive kitchen for a micro-brew. The beer is pretty good. It could be better, but I'll give them an A for effort. I love seeing breweries starting to pop up more regularly around Nashville. They have some good selections, but I'd like to see them be a bit more creative. They remind me of Boscos. Given time, I think they'll have more variety (and definitely leave Boscos in the dust). It's almost a crime to rate this place on my one visit. I need to go back and do some more sampling as well as try the food. The seating area is very cool and relaxed--an excellent spot to pop in and have a beer.

Perfect. Best brewery tour and possibly... best beer. I desperately wanted to attend a tour. We are new to homebrewing and each beer tour teaches me a little bit more about the science of beer making. Well, we were not available for the tour and decided to hit their tasting room. Walking in at 4pm on the dot (when the tasting room opens), I oooo'ed and awww'ed at the brewing equipment. The owner happened to be in house at the time and offered to give us a tour though a tour wasn't scheduled that day. AWESOME! How cool to love your craft so much that you're willing to make a customers experience more enjoyable by giving them an impromptu tour. Learning of their growth from planning the business to opening their doors to expanded their production before a year of business was exciting. Their tasting room is spacious and comfortable with a large patio outside. Their recent release, Java Jane (i.e., coffee porter), is the best damn coffee beer I've ever had. It smells like a fresh pressed coffee. It tastes like a rich, roasty coffee. And it's beer! It is a winner for sure. Ben's dedication to modifying his recipe until he got the exact flavor and smell of coffee that he wanted is why Fat Bottom is going to continue to reach beer lovers beyond Nashville. Way to go, Ben. Thanks for being kick ass.

Yup, not that impressed by the level of service here again. I really did enjoy their beer so I brought my sister along so I could get her take on it. Being the meatheads we are the combo plate was ordered and no sooner than when I finished telling her how the last time I was here the plate was dropped off without any description of what was on it, it happened AGAIN. My sister did stop him before he left to tell us what was on it, which he did, no problem. So, why was it so hard to do it without prompting? We showed up on Saturday but it was nowhere near as crowded as it was my visit prior so, it wasn't like he was in a rush. My sister ordered the Ginger, which was the wrong move. I think their darker beers are better, which they make better. She agreed, it was a pretty indistinctive. We were still hungry after the combo plate so we split the Fat Bottom burger which was tasty enough, with the olives mixing in pretty well-I thought it would overwhelm but it didn't. We did eventually get a bartender who seemed to know what to do, chatting with regulars but still being able to check in on everyone but it was later in the evening. Their products are good, it's just the delivery that sucks.

Oh, how I love thee. I love the fact that you're in my 'hood. I love the fact that you cook my burgers MR without argument. I love the fact that you love food as much as I do. How many breweries serve gourmet food? Just put up a bunch of photos of food porn and my beloved bartender, Leon.

Fantastic burgers, great beer and kid friendly. My wife puts their burgers on par with the Pharmacy and I would agree. Mac and cheese with a little bacon and habenero peppers thrown was killer. Eat here.

Ugh, I want to love this place so bad. The bar is set pretty high due to Yazoo and Jackalope being so freaking amazing. First, the location isn't bad. Parking can get a little sketchy though. Patio and "tap room" are both esthetically pleasing, bathrooms are clean & accessible. Food is slightly overpriced, but yummy. Now the real reason for my review.....da beer. My initial visit consisted of ordering a flyte to try all the beers available on tap. Java Jane is probably the only one I can drink. Typical coffee porter, but nothing special. Ginger Wheat tastes like Cumberland River H2O is being used to brew it. I almost couldn't contain my disappointment when our waitress came to the table and asked what I thought. Needless to say, I chugged the rest of my sampler and left.

I'd probably love this place a lot more if my first experience had not been getting a couple of drinks during happy hour and then being told by the waitress that they hadn't been entered until after happy hour had ended (roughly 20 minutes after I had ordered) and were full price. Sorry, that's your problem to fix, not mine to pay for. The beers were good and twice the price I expected, the food was awfully tasty, and the ambiance was what you make of it, which in my case was exactly what I wanted, but ever with delicious beers and foods coating my mouth I left with a bad taste in it due to the waitstaff. A couple of attempts to get it fixed were met with a disappearing person and an explanation that equated to "yeah, it's messed up, whattyagonnado?", so yeah. Of course your mileage may vary, but that will be what I remember of the place... that and parking that when you exit you drop two to three inches and feel you've gone off at the wrong point.

My boyfriend and I went to Fat Bottom one weekday evening after his class had ended (we got there around 8:30). There are some places that hate people coming in that late, but this was definitely not one of them. There weren't specific entrance signs so we kind of wandered our way from the front (Main St side) through the taproom into the bar area. I like the beers. I'm not crazy about the beers but I like them - and they're not crazy prices (average). The food though - the food is surprisingly wonderful. We got the hummus plate (no one ever puts enough pita on hummus plates, but they certainly did!!), the fast food burger (which was great despite my hatred of American cheese) and the Rainbow trout. The rainbow trout was unbelievable. Everything was great. It was kind of empty when we got there, but again, it was a weekday night after 8:30. I highly recommend, not only for beer, but for their food!

Hey I was just a skinny lad. For three months few carbs I had. But I knew love before I left the brewery. Left alone with Black Betty Ale, she was such a naughty gal heap hopsy drink, you made a craft beer fan of me. Hey! Hey! I've been eatin' at the bar: beef and pickled veggies from the jar. I've seen mugs of sun-kissed Ginger Wheat Ale. Tried Java Jane after a while, Coffee Porter, dessert style. Take me to them lovely ladies every time. Oooohhhhh you gonna take me home tonight? Oooohhhhh a growler of Ruby's red firelight. Oooohhhhh you gonna drink real craft beer now? Fat Bottom brews, you make a "bold and sexy" local beer. Get out a pint, and try! I loved this place. Started with the sampler of different beers. Sadly they were out of the oatmeal stout. :( I loved the pale ale and the coffee stout best. The burgers were excellent. Had the blue cheese one with carmelized onions, tasty bun and juicy meat. The fries were excellent, as well. They were handcut potatoes super crispy and salted. I did not care for the mac & cheese. The flavor was good, but it was super dry. I believe I was served the last batch of a casserole. Reclaimed wood and quaint tables inside. Will return!

I celebrated my birthday here and I couldn't have picked a better spot. Great atmosphere, delicious beer and AMAZING food. The burgers there are on point. I tried the beer flight so I could get a good feel for the types of beer they brewed. I love them all... light to dark. Truly a great addition to the Nashville brew scene.

I love trying out new breweries in new places, so I Yelped this one and off we went. We got a table on their adorable patio (that has cornhole and everything) and quickly came to find out that there was an event from Eastside Story. We ordered a Flight (my favorites were the Ginger Wheat, the Ida Belgian, and the Black Betty IPA). I also got fish tacos (a special), which were amazing. We settled in for a book reading (a fun young adult novel that was a little scandalous) and a singer/song writer type. It was apparently on (or going to be on) the radio. Super cool. It was busy due to the event outside, but service was still pretty good. I did order a side of sweet potato fries that never actually came. However, the server took them off of the check, and then packaged them up when they came up right before we left. If I lived in Nashville, I'd be a regular for sure.

I'm a burger freak. Not an aficionado. Not a fan. A freak. In LA, I'm a loyal customer of Umami Burger ( umami.com/umami-burger ) truly the world's best burger. Since we moved to Nashville in January, I've been chasing that dragon in and out of every burger palace between here and the West Coast, and the first restaurant to come close to the all-powerful, super amazing Umami Burger is FAT BOTTOM BREWERY. The name aside--do you know how awkward it is to order a giant, juicy burger from a restaurant called Fat Bottom--if you don't, count yourself lucky--but I digress, this burger absolutely lives up to the hype. Great tasting meat, good bun (talking to you Pharmacy Burger with those crazy potato buns) and of all things...olives. Yes, olives. On the burger. Who would have thought? Don't over think it, the olives are fantastic. Add some arugula and fresh tomatoes and wow this is an awesome burger. Cooked to taste (I like mine rare...did you have any doubt?) but with a flavor combination this tasty I'm confident this burger would be fantastic even well-done. Oh and the beer was pretty damn tasty too. The only complaint I could possibly make is about the service. Nice enough servers if you can manage to snag one. And that if is as big as the Fat Bottom burger. Totally worth it though, I've been dreaming about that burger since we tried it last week, and man oh man if I'm willing to march my own fat bottom into the brewery/tasting room to order it again and again then surely everyone should!

Event + Food + Drinks review! We had a event at Fat Bottom Brewery for about 100 people and it was AWESOME! - We contacted Fat Bottom Brewery (FBB) and Details Nashville (DN) via email and they got back to us quickly with information we requested. I live out of state but it was easy to work with them to set up the event remotely. - After a couple emails we set up a tasting event, the chef put together some great items and worked with our special theme, budget and created some special / unique food items that were not on the standard menu. The event space was great, we used the indoor main room and outdoor space, great lighting and furniture made the event a success. - We worked with FBB and DN for all the logistics, event staff, special requests etc, they were a fantastic team and took care of any issues. - Event night was great, all food and drinks were 5 star and a great value, the food was amazing, we still have people remind us of the items they ate at the event! The beer was a hit, service was fantastic, and overall a fun event. We definitely recommend Fat Bottom Brewery (FBB) and Details Nashville (DN) for there event location, food, beer and event services, Thank you for a successful event.

Cool wooden feel inside. 2 x 4s of all sorts of colors on the walls custom tables and chairs with a hip feel. Cute waitresses, and guys with strong beers pouring the beers. The food menu is limited and a little pricy but yummy looking. Cheese and meat plate, small salad, BLT etc. We tried the home made potato chips that were this cool like cris-cross shape. We got the beers well because the beer was just so so. The IPA was my favorite, but the Ginger Wheat was too Gingery for me. I think the place has a cool vibe, and everyone is super nice but you'll have to go try the beer your self. It just wasnt for my personal liking.

We enjoyed Fat Bottom on a Friday evening with another couple and both of our babies. The patio was family friendly, the service was great, and the environment was very enjoyable. I love that they have a courtyard to sit and spend time in and corn hole to keep you busy all while enjoying the brews. Wed tried the beer sampler, and I found most of them to be enjoyable. I preferred the red ale (can't remember the name...) but could have enjoyed a pint of almost any of them. Now - let's get to the food. YUM! Our friends ordered the sweet potato fries. They were good but that garlic aioli for dipping..OMG. I ordered the blue burger (with cheddar instead of the blue cheese) and it was phenomenal. The garlic aioli that I just spoke so highly of was the condiment on the burger, and it was topped with caramelized onions. Eat this burger and you shall be happy :). Love that it is close by, fun atmosphere, and really appreciate that it's family friendly.

GREAT Burgers! My husband and I went on a Saturday afternoon around 4pm and although the place was crowded, we quickly found a seat and started reviewing the beer and food menu. I admit, I was a little skeptical about ordering food in a brewery, but my fellow Yelper's helped to guide me in the right direction by suggesting the Blue Cheese Burger...which I TOTALLY plan on ordering again in the future, it was THAT good! What I like most about this place, is that they use high quality, local ingredients in their food. The menu is what I would consider "elevated" pub fair, serving up FANTASTIC burgers, charcuterie platters, Bangers & Mash (with Porter Road Butcher house made sausage!) and many other yummy treats. I will say that when the kitchen is in full swing, the place get's VERY smokey...case in point, a couple walked in as we were finishing up and the remarked, "Is there a fire?"...no fire, just POOR ventilation. I hope that they do something about this b/c I really enjoyed the food and want to return, I just have to be prepared to smell like a burger for the rest of the evening when I go.

Beer - 2 stars. Food - 4 stars. The beer was OK - not bad, but nothing special. Yazoo still takes the cake for me in Nasvhille. With that said, I loved the interior and thought it was a cool brewery. They wouldn't fill my growler from another brewery because it was a "TN law" which I found odd given other breweries in the Nashville area have. Alas, of their sample platter I certainly found the best was the mix of the ruby red and black betty. There food was also great; my girlfriend and I shared a burger (which comes with wedge fries) and a side of mac 'n' cheese (good food!). It was a nice change to the annoying hipster area of "5 points" as most of the customers did not give the aire of hoity toity pompous asses, and the wait staff was very friendly, wonderful, and patient as we ordered even though it was crowded. I'm sure we will be back soon enough for another delicious burger.

We were taking a road trip through TN and happened upon Fat Bottom Brewery when googling things to do along the way. We stopped by before they opened but stuck our head in anyway and were warmly welcomed by those working. We tasted all their beer and it was (insert any positive adjective here). Food looked great as well. Great beer, great staff, great local vibe!

Excellent beer, excellent service, and excellent t-shirts! Bar also has a great feel to it and awesome outdoor seating area. They gave us free stickers and coasters which are essentially free advertising for them, but even without I'd be selling them anyway!

I'm gonna reserve a possible 5-star rating till I've had a chance to try the food, but the Fat Bottom brews were terrific. Like others, I was impressed with the scope of the beers offered: an oatmeal stout, a rye pale ale, a black IPA, a coffee porter, and a wheat ale. Each beer was distinctive, and the visual contrast gave the sampler tray great eye appeal. I ended up taking a growler of the rye pale ale home. Another plus was that, unlike the Gulch breweries (both of which I like a lot, btw), Fat Bottom's tap room truly feels like a neighborhood pub. If I lived in East Nashville (or, heck, if I lived in Nashville at all), I'd probably be a regular here.

Here's the thing about East Nashville, there are so many good local bars, restaurants and coffee shops, each of which has great product, and atmosphere. They just all have spotty, to terrible service. If you're lucky enough to get someone that isn't a pretentious hipster that probably just has no business doing anything near customer service to begin with, then at best you may wait a long time, or have other issues. So it's nice to find a place with...well...all of the above. On my birthday, I went into fat bottom to fill up a couple of growlers. I'm fairly familiar with the place, and i parked out back, so I walked in the back door that was unlocked and there were several people sitting at the bar. Well, apparently, they were closed. However, they served me just the same with a very friendly demeanor, and it wasn't very long before I figured out that they were in an employee meeting. Needless to say, they pretty much made my birthday. And here's the thing, that's the way they ALWAYS are. Always friendly, attentive, reasonable, and in this case, selfless. It's the only place in East Nashville that I get dependably great service (with the exception of Village pub). Otherwise, the beer might be the worst part, which is a high compliment, because it's great. Not for your average beer drinker, they have attempted to create some complex, flavorful brews that while not all to my taste, I appreciate what they are going for. And for the more tempered taste, you can always get the ruby red, or the new Golden Ale. The atmosphere is a perfect blend of lively, and home-y, like a good neighborhood bar should be. And the food is top-notch. Do yourself a favor, and reward good quality service and product, and mostly, do your stomach a favor, and go to Fat Bottom soon.
