If you like Bourbon then you can end the review here. They have a fantastic selection and bartenders who know how to mix it. The only thing better than their bourbon selection is their fries. Not only do they have excellent cocktails but the food is delicious and fresh. As a whole, Embers is a bar that serves as an excellent restaurant. They continue to evolve their cocktails and menu to reflect their theme and seasons. Plus, it helps that I am a skier and they are always playing winter sports!

Quickly becoming one of my favorite Nashville spots, Embers is a ski lodge inspired bar and restaurant nestled in the quaint 12th south neighborhood. Slightly on the pricy side, but with interesting menus choices, finely crafted cocktails friendly and attentive staff and interesting atmosphere, I think it makes up for it. I am in love with their Brussel sprouts. I don't know WHAT they put on them but when they are gone, I want to pour a shot of vodka or saki in the bowl, swish it around and sip it. (I just invented a drink!) The wedge salad is very nice too. 4 smaller wedges with just the right amount of blue cheese and crumbled bacon and a delightful dipping sauce. I've sampled the burger which had a real beefy taste. Can't say that for lots of restaurants. And the house cut fries with a variety of dipping sauce choices are delish. They have an outstanding list of whiskey- it takes up an entires page of the menu. I opted for one of the choices of craft beers the first time and sidecars the second visit. And wow- they were amazing. Super nice bartender took down a bottled local whisky I was curious about to let me smell it. There was a group when we were there and everyone started yelling out "shotskis!". A handful of people standing in a row were brought a ski with shot glasses affixed and proceeded to all take a shot at one time as the ski was tilted to their mouths. So fun! Try it yourself. I really really like the place. I'll be back for the Brussel sprouts alone!

This place was seriously disappointing. We had a group of 8 for dinner and drinks. I don't know if the air conditioning was out or if it was supposed to be that warm in there. Either way, it was unbearably hot. We were all sweating and using our menus to fan ourselves. Our waiter came around once to take orders, once to deliver food and once for checks. He never checked on us. The food took over an hour to be delivered to our table and it wasn't even a busy day. The drinks were overpriced and not great. The food was "meh." Cool premise - Not executed very well.

I met a friend here tonight and upon entering there was no sign telling me not to seat myself, so I made my way to a nearby table. 5 minutes later my friend came in. 5 minutes passed and there we sat...waiting to be acknowledged by someone. Anyone, really! Eventually the girl at the bar came over, apologized, and said that their server who's shift began at 5:00 wasn't there yet (it was 5:40). She gave us menus and left. And the waiting started again. We did all the social ques to say "we're ready to order" and still no one came. Eventually just as we were thinking we would leave, here came the waitress with water, and we got our order in for their fondue as an appetizer. We were excited to have yummy fondue! What we received were chips, salsa and queso. Where was our fondue? I don't know the requirements for defining fondue, I know this was NOT fondue. It was tasty...queso! So we ate our "fondue" slowly, and drank our water slowly (the glasses were small!) while eating the salty chips and spicy cheese...and no one came to refill our water glasses, see if perhaps we wanted an alcoholic beverage, or to take an order for the rest of the meal. So, after the last chip was eaten we left the $$ on the table and walked out. I do not remember the last time I walked out of a restaurant not having had my meal. And worse, still, I don't think they cared. They must have seen us get up and leave, walk across the floor and out the door, and no one tried to stop us or check to see if we paid, which we did, including tax! Wow. The best part was we walked down the street to Burger Up where we we greeted by two people, who seemed genuinely glad to have us enter their establishment, had a friendly, helpful waiter and a really great meal.

My and my friends went here after hearing about it from another friend. Place looked interesting. We walked in and sat down. There wasn't to many people there besides the 5 of us yet after 25 mins the waitress hadn't stopped by our table. Finally she walked by and asked if we needed drinks and we said yes and we wanted to order food. She walked away without taking our order and talked to what I presume to be her boss. They talked for 10 mins and still neither one came to our table. So after 30 mins of asking to order and no one caring about our business we left and went elsewhere. On top of that the music was turned up about as loud as it could go and no one could have a conversation if they wanted too. Don't plan on going back anytime soon if at all.

Great drinks great food and great people! Drink mixologists are really good at what they do. Cod bites are so good and they have all the sauces!

A group of 5 of us checked out this place opening week. We went right after a private press party ended and it was a little hectic for the staff but everyone was wonderful. The service was great which is hard to pull off opening week at most places! The cocktails were delicious, some where a little too winter for me with summer approaching but there were options. Good was spot on. Don't look for too healthy when you pick to eat here, the menu definitely represents a ski lodge and the warm goodness found inside! Overall great addition to 12 south, we will be back. One interesting item was that there are no televisions. It's definitely the type of place I would enjoy going to watch football on a brisk fall day so I hope they reconsider that.

I think I will give it 3 stars because the wine was good. The bartender (I think Jason) was nice and efficient. But other than that, something felt like it was missing. If you're going to do a Ski Lodge theme, then it should really feel warm and inviting when you walk in. We felt neither of those things. I just don't think you can put cheap sports bar seating amongst good lighting and a mountain mural on a wall and hope that people "get it."

I was excited about my visit to Ember's. It's one of 12 South's newest restaurants, and I was sold after reading their background story, food menu, and cocktail list posted on their website. My friend and I went for brunch and it about 1/3 full of customers. To me, that's a bad sign for a 12th South restaurant during Saturday brunch time. Anyways, the waitress (there was no host/hostess) told us we could sit anywhere. So, we sat by the window because natural lighting = better food pictures! After looking at the menu, I was pretty underwhelmed. There wasn't really anything that stood out to me that I thought, AHHH I must get THAT. We asked the waitress a couple of questions about some of the menu items and she had to go back to the kitchen to get the answers. Seriously? With not a very extensive brunch menu I expect the staff to be able to inform me on the spot about their menu. I decided on the Aspen omelet with fries, and I had asked if I could sub out the fries for another side and she asked, "Like what?" Aren't you supposed to tell me which sides you have?! I told her fries were just fine. Tried to make it easier for everyone. The omelet was fluffy and filling, and it was my favorite part of our brunch experience. But instead of fries, they served me greasy, soggy potato slices. I asked for ketchup to hopefully make them taste a little better, and she said it'd be an additional $1.25. WHO charges customers for KETCHUP! In hindsight I should have just brought my own damn ketchup packets. Lastly, the location of Ember's is in a prime location on 12th South, but I felt like it was really misplaced. The ski lodge theme just doesn't seem to work for the area. I can't see it sticking around 12th South for very long. Good try, Ember's.

My coworkers and I really enjoyed our happy hour at Embers. The staff is genuine, funny, and friendly with stellar customer service. The apps are super satisfying-- we ended up ordering another salmon dip cause we couldn't get enough of the first one (despite decent portions). The fondue has a kick and I like that. The yum yum fish tacos were another big hit at our table. I was very excited about the reindeer sausage. The meat is only a little gamy, so don't be scared to try it! It really is just sausage. The meat was great, but the meat to bun ratio favored the bun too much and took away from the presentation. Caribou is usually free-range and treated better than other future-sausaged animals so that explains the high price. I'm a heathen so I just picked it all apart and ate as I saw fit.

Had French Toast and Reindeer Sausage for Sunday brunch and it was out of this world. My French Toast came out around 6 minutes after my girlfriend's food which wasn't a big deal at all but the staff aplogized profusely and didn't charge for the French Toast. Excellent service, great food.

5 stars for drinks, service and overall ambience and vibe. Love the kitschy, casual ski lodge motif. However, with the AC not working, we were a bit hot and steamy on a muggy spring night. Service was great and our server was very knowledgable about the menu. I hate when you go places and the servers haven't tried everything. Kudos to the restaurant for good training. The drinks were awesome. They have a nice variety of specialty cocktails for $12. We started off with a Ski School and The Shim Sham. I LOVED the Ski School. Just the right balance of alcohol and sweetness. The Shim Sham was good, but not as strong as I would've wanted it. Also tried the Ajax which was very good, as well. They have a HUGE selection of whiskey and of course the Shotski which includes 4 shots for $24. For appetizers we tried the Alaskan Smoked Salmon Spread with baguette. I love smoked salmon, and while tasty, it was a little too mayonnaisey/cream cheesy for me. The baguette was deliciously warm and crusty, but not sure I'd order this again. We then moved onto the Nashville Hot Chicken. It consisted of 3 little korean buns with hot chicken a pickle and some tangy sauce. It was good, but there was hardly any chicken on it. The bun to meat ratio was off as you can tell by my picture. They definitely need to be more generous with the chicken. The belgian fries were delicious and I loved the sauces you can add. My favorite was the gravy and yum yum sauce. Also tried the club sandwich with side salad. I really liked the sandwich, solid club. The side salad, however, was boring. Just plain lettuce with maybe a cucumber or two and an almost too tangy vinegarette. I would get fries next time. We wanted to try dessert, but we were sweating half to death with the lack of air. My husband went to the restroom to splash some water on his face and there were no paper towels, just a hand dryer. In the women's restroom there was a double sink and one toilet. That doesn't make a lot of sense in terms of the use of space. The dryer in there was already out of order. I have to say in a restaurant setting I like paper towels. If you are on a date or whatever, you may want to do a makeup check, blot the face, etc. Minor stuff, but things worth mentioning. All in all, I'm excited for Embers and will definitely return based on drinks and service. I would like to see how the menu evolves over time. It's a little all over the place right now, but I do believe they are receptive to feedback and plan on working the kinks out along the way. A very nice addition to 12 south indeed.

We came in for late night drinks. Jason, the bartender, was great. He was able to make a drink by request that isn't common nor is it on the menu. They have a good selection of whiskeys, tequilas and beers.

I have visited Embers three times, and each time was more disappointing than the last. I don't think I'll be returning. The drinks, while interesting, are not good enough to make me crave them. The menu is incredibly incoherent, and apart from the fries and a huge collection of dipping sauces for them, nothing really stands out. The big problem, however, is the service. The first time, we went for dinner, and we were neglected by our server while big groups of college-aged hard-drinking types got better service. The second time, we went for brunch, and we were neglected by our server while families with screaming children got better service. The third time, I came alone and had a drink and a sandwich at the bar; service was fine for the first five minutes, and then a group of single girls sat near me, and the bartender literally never spoke to me again. The servers took unreasonably long times to take orders, appetizers arrived at the same time as entrees, drinks came after entrees -- you name it, it probably happened, and no one really seems to care. Perhaps you are craving a restaurant with a ski lodge theme. Perhaps you don't mind inconsistent service. (Perhaps you are cool enough not to be neglected!) You could give Embers a try, but from my perspective, it doesn't add much to the neighborhood.

we were here on a friday night and the place was pretty empty, so that was already a bad sign. once we got the food we ordered, it was easy to see why. the $8 cheese fondue tasted just like tostitos queso out of a jar. the brussel sprouts were covered in a super oily greasy overly sweet sauce, and my husband said the reindeer sausage tasted only slightly better than a supermarket hot dog. i'll give it an extra star, though, b/c we liked the fries and b/c the server was nice. maybe embers ski lodge is a good place to stop by for drinks, but if you're hungry, keep walking. you'll find better food at any of the other places in 12 south.

Went for happy hour and the menu is still in progress. But you can get 6 dollar martinis with pearl vodka or gin drinks with Bombay. Our bartender was Jason and he was awesome. Food wise we got the fries with the Jack Daniels ketchup, sriracha cream (our fav), and the gravy. It was all good. We also ordered the foie gras on pound cake. Good concept for the dish but wasn't executed properly. The pound cake was a bit dry and tasted old. The seared foie gras was cold and super tiny. Had the whole dish been served warm it would have tasted a lot better. But overall it's a great atmosphere, cool concept, and friendly staff. Will definitely be returning and can't wait to try brunch!

I was hoping it would be like the Forest Room in Denver. One of my favorite bars in the states. But sadly no. Like most Nashville bars and restaurants no thought was put into making it something unique or special.

We stopped by for an early dinner and drinks. I liked the creativity of the ski lodge theme right down to what the servers wore. Everyone was very friendly and the restaurant was clean. They have a good drink selection including a number of speciality drinks for $12 each. We tried a couple that the waitress recommended (can't remember the names!) and liked them. The food was good as well. Our favorite was the Belgian fries, they were perfectly cooked! We also got the fondu which is basically chips and queso, but good. We then had the reindeer sausage and fish tacos. Everything was good, but the fries were definitely the best. Our only complaint was the cost of the food. The portions were not huge and we felt the prices were high for what we got. My husband said that the place is very authentic ski lodge- right down to the ski lodge prices!

This is the new hip place to see and be seen. Cool vibe, excellent drink selection, smiling staff (ask for Sonnie!) , and good food. Try the salmon dip- and don't expect to wonder what's in it, it's well balanced and rough mixed so you get a different bite every time! Specialty drinks are killer and they have the largest selection of bourbon in Nashville! Hot tip: have a friends address in mind! With your check you'll get an Embers Ski Lodge "wish you were here" postcard that you can fill out and they'll mail it for you!

Okay I struggle to understand how people can make statements that this is the new place to be seen in Nashville or that you won't find a better cocktail, really???? Seriously the best drinks in Nashville?? Whatever...... Anyway, no hate here we liked it for what it was. A cool little bar to go have a couple drinks and a bite to eat that's trying to find its way. I agree the service is hit or miss but we had Sonnie, she was great. Some of the other staff just did not seem to engaged. She had a personality, talked, checked back on us, note to management get a few more like her. They had a decent beer selection, the drinks list was interesting the ones we had were good but how has no one mentioned their very nice selection of Bourbon? They had quite the selection, very nice. Can't comment on the food this time but we'll be back. Have to agree they seem to be going through an identity crisis. Vintage Ski Lodge pictures then we jump to the Everest mural (complete with crazy Sherpa), cut over to the dinning area and we have a lot of bland tan then look out side at our walled in patio. Okay like the effort but lets pull it all together. All said though we like the 70s tacky ski lodge atmosphere, which is key, and enjoyed our time there. Look forward to seeing this place develop and grow. PS: Throw up a TV or two to watch the game, this place is perfect for that. See you on the slopes!

Unfortunately we were pretty disappointed with this place. The service was awful... We sat ourselves when we walked in and we were greeted and given menus (after we asked) Our server was running around like a chicken with his head cut off even though there were only a couple tables He knew they had a speciality cocktail menu but he knew nothing about the cocktails. He basically talked in circles when explaining them "oh yeah that's gonna be awesome.... just like a really awesome taste..." Thanks buddy. Our food came but no drinks, we assumed my boyfriends cocktail order was never placed so we had to ask (again) another server to get our drink. Definitely didn't get the service you'd expect for a $12 cocktail. We were underwhelmed by the food. The fries were kind of soggy. The burger was standard and my boyfriend got the flank steak sandwich which was actually 3 small slider sandwiches (no side). It was more of an appetizer. There are so many great places places in Nashville to eat. This place needs to step up their service and menu.

I was not that impressed with breakfast. The pastry basket was microwaved and it seemed it was overly so. The potato vegetarian dish was nothing to brag on. Unfortunately everyone ordered the same dish so we really didn't get to experience much more. Service was somewhat slow, but they were nice. I might give it another try for dinner.

It's not only about the food anymore. But, I'll speak to that first. It was good. I got the Brussel Sprouts (delicious but wish they were "healthier") and the Ahi Tuna salad (good amount of tuna, very tasty, lots of greens, dressing on the side). The drinks are interesting. I've tried 2 different cocktails during my visits. Both I liked but probably wouldn't order again. Confusing, I know. I recommend Cool Runnings for bourbon drinkers because it's a weird concept that is surprisingly good. Now moving on to address my first statement. When I go to a restaurant these days, especially a new restaurant that claims a specific theme (like ski lodge), and especially a new restaurant in Nashville, I expect a put-together interior/set-up/decor that is well executed. This place is a mess. It looks like they sent an unknowledgeable staff person to blow a couple hundred at IKEA on lighting and seating. The bar is the only area that is nice to look at. The rest makes me feel the opposite of what I wanted to feel. It's definitely an odd-man-out when it comes to concept design among all its neighbors in the 12th S area (and the rest of Nashville). I'll return if I want a decent meal or glass of wine on a patio (FYI don't build a patio on 12th S you can't see out of) or the bar. But will probably refuse to sit inside at a table so I don't have to stare at all the tan empty space.

New place... Figured I'd check it out. I thought that the ski theme might be cool. For some reason it's a ski theme place but they have a picture of Everest on the wall and a bunch of references to Everest. They lost me there.... The French Alps or something would have been a better choice. The staff was friendly and nice although seemed a little confused at times. That's okay, new place... trying to learn the ropes. All good. They'll get better. As far as the food goes, it was good although in my opinion overpriced. The beer selection was decent but again overpriced. If the food would have been $3 less for each item and the beer $1 - $2 less, I would have been much happier with this place and would probably frequent it. Basically, this place is trying to be "upscale" but I'm not sure that a ski theme (poorly done at that) is the way to go if you are trying to be upscale.

Fantastic burger and libation! I came here during the $5 burger week. The Mount Everest burger is normally $10 by itself which is a little steep for my taste. I absolutely loved the teriyaki aioli dipping sauce for the fries. So good! My only gripes would be the long wait time for my food to be served, small flat screen tucked away at the bar, and the subpar valet service. The valet guy told me to go park my own car while he happily parked many vehicles after I arrived. I told the owner about since he asked how I was doing. The owner was very friendly and apologized and made a remark that the the valet service is contracted and not part of his business. Huh? That doesn't solve the issue of poor customer service! He should probably get on that. He then proceeded to offer me the two for one drink special since I had arrived just before 6 pm as if he was doing me a favor. I didn't come for the drinks, I came for the burger. Hahahahah I would have been more flattered if he offered me the deal for free, but he didn't. I would come here again, but maybe be more direct about valet parking my car. I shouldn't have been told to find parking myself.

Cool idea, poor execution. When we walked in, I got the vibe that they were trying to portray a ski lodge, but the wall to wall windows and painted brick ruined it. But hey, I get it, they're working with what they were given. The menu was intriguing and had promise, but ultimately did not deliver. We went for brunch, which is one of my favorite things to do in new, foodie friendly Nashville. I had the Aspen Omelette, which was easily the worst omelette I've ever had. It was a dry, folded-over slab of burnt eggs with a strange, inexplicable aftertaste, a few onions inside, and a small sprinkle of ham and Gruyere cheese on top. The bacon side was good, but it's ridiculous to charge $8 for 3 pieces (though mercifully I didn't get charged for it.) My husband had the club sandwich. The ham and turkey could only be described as gelatinous. He got the sriracha dipping sauce, which was pretty good and made the sandwich have some taste. One of our girls got pancakes, which she said were good, but the strawberries were not ripe. They were sadly unavoidable since they were cooked into the pancakes even though the menu says they are only toppings. The only good meal was our other daughter's burger. It was delicious and will rival any burger around. The fries were also well cooked and crispy. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, and we will not be back. There are many better options in the immediate vicinity. I recommend skipping this place and hopping across the street to Burger Up or The Flipside.

My husband and I walked into Embers not knowing the "family/friends" event was happening -- a few moments later the owner, Matt walked up to us with open arms and welcomed us into his restaurant. He immediately told us to get a drink at the bar and he was happy to have us. Their drinks are beyond compare and you cannot top their service. Jason was the bartender who helped us and he is literally THE person you need in your life. Please try Embers -- it is THE new place you need in your life.

Excited to try a new place, I love the ambiance, would be fantastic in the winter! Got the ahi salad, it was ok;; overkill on the dressing, couldn't taste the tuna, but the dressing was delicious. Lots of interesting things on the menu, the reindeer sausage is flown in from Alaska! Got the Charles de Mar cocktail, very refreshing. Looking forward to trying out a few other things next time and bringing my friends!

If a gas station restroom and a month old egg salad sandwich had a baby, but was forced to give it up for adoption and the baby was beat by dumpster diving garbage pail Aspen carnies... Said child grows up, opens a restaurant for the most patient and Epic revenge and names it "Embers" a wise man once said "Revenge is a dish best served cold" much like their fish taco's But seriously...we were seated at a 8 top table with a fake wood burning stove 12" in front of our faces. Then the food came I ordered fish tacos and a salad. The tacos were both slimy and dry at the same time, they were some of the worst I have ever had. The salad was something else entirely it was masterfully bad. It was a plate of mixed bitter greens topped with a handful of arugula doused with some sort of "dressing" that can only be described as a blend of ammonia, rancid fish spunk, and a hint of lime. I would rather make a meal using only the dumpster behind a long john silvers than eat here ever again! I wish I could give it 0 stars.

Sunday afternoons after church are a mad dash to your favorite brunch spot here in Town. Typically you'll have a long wait these days in Nashville. Myself being very indecisive this past Sunday, we were driving around town trying to think of somewhere I could get a spunky refreshing salad or a twist to the normal grilled chicken sandwich.( I'm trying new healthy habits, my husband isn't thrilled). As I compromised with him on going to Edley's, which we weren't a fan of the last few times we've been, sort of over the hooplah...we stumbled upon Embers Ski Lodge. You cannot miss it, the decor is cheesy ski lodge with a contemporary gastro pub feel. We decided to go in and look at the menu and make up our minds from there. They had a small menu but that's Bc they offer brunch on Sunday 11-3p..perfect! They had zero crowd which was worrisome, this was in fact 12th South. The hostess was very friendly and cool about us looking at the menu first. She won us over with her casual, "take a look and if you decide to stay, please sit wherever you'd like!" People, this doesn't happen in Nashville anymore! There is always a wait Sunday morning. I almost don't want to share this brunch gem on social media! The menu was small but quite understandable for brunch and honestly I don't need a Cheesecake Factory size menu. As we skimmed the menu I saw a few "bad", unhealthy but delicious options, such as a basket of pastries filled with muffins and chocolate croissants or a croissant eggs benedict...what?! It was very hard for me to pass up on both of those. I decided to be good and get the chicken salad sandwich: all white chicken with raisins and orange zest (the zest through me off a little but also intrigued), red onion slices, tomato, lettuce on wheat bread. For my side I went with a side salad with an orange vinegarette, the other two options were fries or chips. My husband decided on the club sandwich and fries, with the fries you had the choice of a few different homemade condiments for dipping. Apparently we both thought we were in a breakfast mood but slowly transitioned into the lunch choices this is why I love the option that brunches allow. As we waited for our food we enjoyed delicious French pressed coffee. After it's ready it is then served in a bowl (they don't use coffee cups..perfect for coffee lovers like ourselves) and the cream was served aside in a little mini cow...come one, cute! Our food arrived shortly after. I'm a hard critic when it comes to Chicken Salad...if it's not from The Picnic or Puffy Muffin my true Nashvillian side comes out. This one came close, wasn't my favorite but the orange zest was different and the chicken was it truly all white meat chicken. It was the perfect mayo ratio...those who know me know I'm strange when it comes to mayo. They passed my test. The side salad could've had some help it was simply mixed greens and sliced cucumber. The homemade vinegarette saved it, truthfully. Lastly, I had very strong club sandwich and fry envy towards my husband. That club was delicious, bacon was crispy, the cheese tasted like a smoked cheddar or gouda, then to make it better they added avocado and a sundried tomato mayo that was yum yum. The fries were fresh cut and the dipping sauce he chose, 'Jackson Whole Mustard' was spot on, strange but tested our taste buds and they liked it! Overall we will be back in hopes that our great experience continues there. Great job chef, staff, and everyone involved there!

Okkkkk so this place just opened. Even though I only gave it 3-stars, I'll give it another shot (and will be back with an updated review). So here goes - my friend and I were taking a study break and decided to walk down to Embers. It still looks like it's under construction and we probably would have just kept walking past it had we not actually seen people sitting inside. The decor is neat, they have some neat fixtures and I guess they nail the "ski lodge" feel with the birch accents, hanging fire pit, and mountain mural on the wall (except this place is inspired by travels through the Pacific Northwest and the mural is of Everest - sorry, that just bothers me). Also, I think it is tacky to have the staff dress in ski-lodge "theme" - especially since in 2015 terms that means tacky printed leggings, a t-shirt and hiking-esque boots - no flannel, denim, or anything that someone older than 25 would associate with "ski lodge". Since it's a new spot, I always like asking the staff for their recommendations - our server, really had nothing to say about the menu other than suggest the most expensive starters - Foie Gras or Salmon Spread (which she described as "having lots of salmon" - YA THINK?). And let me say, I am totally against passing judgement on people, but my friend and I dropped into this restaurant, probably way under dressed (ok, VERY underdressed in workout clothes). for lunch. on a Wednesday. - do we really look like the people that are going to order a Foie Gras hors-d'oeuvre at lunch on a Wednesday??? Anyway, they pride themselves on their craft cocktail menu - which was impressive and I'm sure I will be back to give those a whirl. However, our server told us they don't have any specials or happy hours because they "worked really hard on the menu" (which I assume implies that if you work hard on something, you can't sell it for less than $12) - ok, Embers. Also - they have shot skis, so if a $12 cocktail isn't your thing, act like you're at frat party and do a shot ski with some friends! On to the food - Lava fondue - glorified queso. Actually, it's JUST queso. But it's damn good. However, if you're calling something fondue, you should probably offer it with other dipping accompaniments - not just chips. Delicious though. And you should order it. Farro salad - just okay, lacking major "umph" or really anything that would make me order it again. Chicken Salad Sandwich - I had a bite of my friends sandwich and MAN was it good, light, fresh and so flavorful. It came with a side salad which was also really tasty. Overall Embers seems to be going through a bit of an identity crisis. I'll be interested to hear what people think.

I walked into this restaurant on their opening night and was greeted by the owner Matt -- family and friends night -- not being family or a friend, Matt and everyone welcomed me and my friends with open arms. You don't have to be a connoisseur. The drinks at this bar do not need a happy hour -- they are top class above any bar in Nashville. Just walk in and ask for Jason -- guaranteed a good night 5 stars easily

My wife and I went for lunch yesterday. The interior is inviting and it looks like they will soon have outdoor seating. The cocktail menu looks interesting but we passed on cocktails for lunch on a Friday. My wife had a sparkling wine that was quite good. I had a beer. My wife had the club sandwich and it looked fantastic. She said it was one of the best she had ever had. Broadbent bacon really made the difference. We shared an order of the fried Brussels sprouts and they were terrific. I had the hot chicken sandwich which is actually three sliders on Asian style steamed buns. I thought the concept and flavor was good but could have been slightly spicier (probably a matter of taste). Service was good but a little slow...probably an artifact of just having opened last week. Overall a good experience...we'll be back.

Sweet place. Good drinks. They have a monster whiskey selection and the atmosphere is sweet. Really unique spot and the staff is awesome.

OK, early yet but have been twice now, once for lunch and once for drinks. Both times super chill, staff very friendly and accommodating. Have sampled a few of the drinks, ordered 2 bourbon drinks and tried a few other, delicious, Patterson House craft style. Lunch was tasty but they have the best fries in town. Well managed, staff is friendly and happy!

Fresh off the plane from Colorado I can tell you the Embers is from drinks to delicate and tasty ski run classics done to perfection. This is Nashville's new great place to eat a relaxing casual meal that rewards your taste buds and wets your whistle.

We were walking 12th AVE and decided to stop because of the mountain shaped fence. My 5 year old had the cheeseburger with chips and cheese, and we didnt hear a peep. I had the Mongolian flank steak sammie and is made to perfection! My wife ordered the gluten free Club sandwich, the ingredients were fresh and made to order, flawless. The cool running cocktail was desert in a glass! By far my favorite part was them having the greatest beer on Earth, Dale's Pale Ale on tap! A must visit in Nashville!

I went for happy hour and burgers. I don't think their AC was working, but I won't hold that against them. I don't have anything good or bad to say about the place... Just very average!

The overall atmosphere was great. Amazing cocktails with ingredients I would not typically pair including horseradish. Drinks aren't exactly cheap, but will for sure be returning to try the food and more cocktails.

While I think it's generally unfair to rate a restaurant during its first week, we stumbled upon Embers and think it worthy of a review. Firstly the cocktails are inventive and the bourbon list is reasonably deep; both good signs for a great bar experience. The wine list- well that's not why you would visit Embers anyway. The food is okay. We tried both soups; I had such high hopes for the fava, but it was bland and tasted like split peas, so I was disappointed. The tomato soup was better, but too sweet. The curried cauliflower was delicious. We also ordered the savory "French toast"... If ever there were a hangover food, this is it...think poutine with eggy bread instead of French fries. The service was attentive and on point. The one big downside is the noise level, it's horrible. I'm sure the partners are keenly aware of the issue and hopefully will address it. We'll return in a couple of months and try it again.

Was a little disappointed bc we had high expectations. Draft beer list was a little below average compared to other places. Food was pretty average. Environment was pretty neat with an outside porch. Would recommend going for a cocktail.

I would rate this place as just okay. I was very excited about this place opening and looked forward to it for months, as I live very close by. It just doesn't have the great atmosphere that I anticipated. It has all the over priced, trying-too-hard-to-be-edgy ness of a new Nashville bar, but none of the character of the nearby mafioazsas or 12 south tap room. When I'm paying $2 more for the same beer I can have 50 feet away at the also not very cheap 12 south taproom, I feel like they are just charging too much because they feel like they can. Their "ski shot" is their biggest party trick, and while mildly amusing at first, isn't enough to make me want to make me come back. The only times I've chosen to return to this establishment after the first time (so 2 more times) were when mafioazsas and taproom were literally so packed that I had to go to Embers out of necessity. I even tried their reindeer meat at Taste of Music City....not that good. I wanted to like something about it, and unfortunately could not. The patio in the front of the building makes me feel like I'm in a parking lot...not Alaska, or Colorado. The table right when you walk in the front door has a big firepit type installation in the middle so your can't even converse with people across the table. Not conducive to socializing. I stared at the menu of $12 cocktails and overpriced beers and asked the server if there were any specials. No. If only that amazing sandwich shop that closed down behind it would reopen...now that was a place worthy of 12 south.
