This was my first stop of reviewing Chinese food restaurants in Nashville (I am going to try to hit the majority of them). I have decided to order the same dish (Kung Pao Chicken) and see who makes it the best. I really decided at the last minute whether I should have this be a two or three stars. I ordered the hot and sour soup and the Kung Pao chicken. The soup tasted like a egg drop soup with the last min addition of chilies. Not awful and fine as egg drop just not hot and sour. The chicken had a nice spicy flavor but really was one note again it felt like the spiciness flavor was added after the fact. It did have a lot of vegetables and the chicken was tasty but overall just not what I look for in Kung Pao style (just too one-note-ish). They had a pretty good lunch special which had quite a good selection of specials that came with some fried rice and a soda for about $5. I ended up giving this a three on value and their delivery area, but as the food it would be a solid 2.

I order from this place all the time. Recently, the quality has gone from barely decent to disgusting. I keep wondering if what they are feeding me is actually chicken. In my order tonight, I found two bones inside of my Sesame Chicken. Their fried rice no longer has flavor, it tastes like tap water. I am sincerely disappointed and will be taking my business elsewhere.

My girlfriend and I were really in the mood for Chinese last night and neither of us wanted to cook. Unfortunately East Nashville is lacking in the take-out department that's open past 9, so I found Best Wok on Yelp and I'm glad I did! It's no better than other Chinese you're gonna get aroudn town, but the place is open until 11 during the week and you can order online! That sold me.

Oh, what to do when you are in no mood to drive and are tired of the same old pizza or Dalt's...Best Wok! Yeah, it's the same old greasy Chinese food you can get from 20 places in various strip malls around town; but the ease of ordering online (hell, being able to see a menu is also helpful in ordering) sets them apart. I ordered around 8pm on a Thursday night. My food arrived within the hour. Not too shabby. The orange peel chicken was on the tasty side of average and could have easily fed two very hungry people or 3 average eaters. Leftovers for miles! 3 stars for food and 5 for service and convenience!

Our food was ordered at 11a and arrived a little after noon. It was barely Luke warm and had to be heated in the microwave. Rating = WACK!

Finally, a Chinese restaurant up to par. Delivery is fast, and being able to order online means no-more sinking feeling of are-they-going-to-get-my-orders-right. Egg foo-yong usually hits the spot, as is the General Tso's Chicken (their variations of it, anyway). Most of the stir-fries are savory and saucy in all the right ways, sure make the steamed rice go down fast. Soup is undrinkable. I am quite happy to find this place that will cater to my peasant viscera.

Ordered through GrubHub on Feb 16th during the ice storm. The guy delivered it early and because of road conditions parked his car at a near gas station and walked to my apartment. That is dedication. I have ordered from these guys before and their service is top notch, always arriving within 30-40min. Their food is great. Not greasy. Fresh and delicious. Always comes hot and packaged well. Even during the ice storm the food was hot. These guys are sincerely amazing. Wish GrubHub would allow bigger tips (after a certain amount the app resets the tip amount; could be an app glitch). Gave the guy 20+% tip because he was a hero.

Not such a great hood but worth driving just a couple miles down the road from the West End places. Chicken with garlic sauce 3 days in a row was consistent and very good!

Tried delivery as it is a rare Chinese place that delivers here....I got dumplings and those were of course good. The actual General Tso's and fried rice was terrible....the chicken was so crispy it was inedible. The rice was just greasy. I ended up throwing almost all of it away and I felt bad for having wasted the money.

This wasn't the worst Chinese food I have had but it was definitely sub par. The fried dumplings were great, but Sesame Chicken, Chicken Chow Mein, Crab Rangoons, Generals Tso Chicken were all lackluster. I've found a lot better Chinese food for the same price in Nashville.

We had the General and a shrimp dish and they were tolerable but it was the worst hot and sour soup ever. Food was fast but not appetizing. I really wanted to like this place.

Are you in the ghetto and hungry for Chinese food?? Look no further!! This place is fantastic- You can order your food online, they have vegetarian options, the food is cheap, the food is filling, and the food is decently fresh. I also enjoy how friendly the staff is. They always greet me with a smile and cater to all my needs.

One of the worst meals I've ordered in a long time. Save your money, and go to a different place. My food was over cooked, not fresh, and lacking in flavor.

Finally!! Delivery Chinese to Green Hills that's awesome. Loved the steamed dumplings and crab wontons. Lo mein and pepper steak were good. Price was great. Delivery quick. Very pleased :)

Not so good, if you're a fan of real Chinese food. Food took a long time to get here (I'm 2.5 miles away - took an hour), and when it did, it was cold. Egg roll was soggy and of the standard food service frozen kind. I ordered Tso's, and specified the following: "Please make **VERY** spicy!". No spice at all, cold, soggy, and made with the standard frozen chicken nuggets that so many purveyors seem to use these days. As far as the spice level goes, I like spicy food - really - but it's not like I said 'make it spicy!' and they did and it just wasn't spicy enough for some sort of capsaicin lunatic; what I'm saying is, there was zero. Nada. Not any. Other than that, all very standard stuff, 'conveyor line' Chinese. Delivery, yes, and if you just want something fast, sure, but if you're a real fan of Chinese food, you can skip it.

They always take an hour to deliver, its never hot, usually warm, sometimes cold, and they are wishy washy on the orders, sometimes spot on other times not so much, they always forget the chopsticks and sweet and sour, even though i note it twice. the Lo mein was super nasty, but i always order the orange chicken and its really good except one time it tasted like generals not orange chicken...very strange

The food is affordable so plus there. Its the service that always gets me. You get your food, you're in and your out, good deal. But try ordering food by phone in the evening. There is always this lady that answers who is so rude. I understand that they sometimes need to put you on hold, that isn't the problem. Its that she is so damn impatient! The last time i ordered by phone, i cancelled my order infuriated and vowed i would never go there again. Needless to say, the food is so cheap and tasty enough that i have since gone back (with friends). The convenience plays such a huge factor, especially if you live near by. They deliver late and to places that other establishments wont deliver to.

So you like Chinese food? You don't like to spend a lot of money? Or do you just need something to satisfy that hunger right now? Best Wok! It has been open since 1999 and have been going strong since. They are the only place in this whole city of NASHVILLE to have shrimp egg rolls! YUMMMMMMMY! I love those things. The fried rice is great along with the beef and shrimp. They are traditional, good people and they ususally have service with a smile. Down side~ they don't deliver all over the North Nashville area. Well, i guess that is not a down side seeing as how North Nashville is a breeding ground for ignorants! Try them today!

I give Best Wok a 4 star because it has A Ok food. I ordered The General Tso's Chicen lunch special, a pork fried egg roll and wonton soup. The soup was the only thing that left something to be desired. It was a good size portion of soup but the dumplings were a bit thick and the broth could have standed more flavor but overall A-ok. What puts them over the top with me is that they will deliver to the downtown area. Very good and convenient.

This is the best Chinese food I've eaten in Nashville. Don't get too excited. All the Chinese food in Nashville is pretty bad. Really bad... Really, ask anyone who lives here where to order the best Chinese takeout. They'll think about it a bit and tell you there's no such thing here. This food at best wok is acceptable. I'll call it Acceptable Wok. The sweet and sour chicken is average, but nothing special the rice is decent... somehow so many of the other places in Nashville manage to even mess up something as simple as plain white rice... I don't know how. So it's worth noting that the rice here is what you would normally expect from a Chinese place. The lo mien is meh. The noodles are sort of... I don't know... Doughy? Soft? Something. Not the best, but not the worst. The dumplings are pretty good. Standard dumplings. I got some of the fried donuts as well. Can't really go wrong with deep fried buns tossed in sugar. Even my cat tried to eat one of those. I've had soup here a few times and remember it being fairly standard as well. So, I don't know. Overall, this is my go to place for Chinese. It's nothing special. Nothing is exceptional, but nothing I've had there has really been bad. The fact that Nashville has no better Chinese food to offer really kind of limits the options. We'll keep going here unless we find someplace else.

They estimated delivery to be 40 minutes but managed to get to my place in 20. They're usually fast but never take longer than their expected time. The delivery guys are usually frustrating (ie/ talk fast, hang up on you, can't figure out how to reach you, impolite, sometimes lazy, etc, etc). Aside from that, I do like this place. It's cheap and most of the menu items are good. Good - BBQ spare ribs - sweet and salty - steamed dumplings - general tso's chicken- downright addictive! - teriyaki chicken on skewers - chicken is tender - Beef Lo mein (fatter noodles) - pork egg foo young - it's basically an omelet with a salty sauce - pork chow mei fun (thin noodles) - sesame chicken - sweet and sour chicken - fried with dipping sauce - "chinese vegetables" - long beans in black bean sauce - it's salty - Boneless spare ribs - Chicken rice soup - especially great when you have the cold! - beef and broccoli - kind of bland Mediocre (or bland) - pork fried rice- rice was hard - Scallops- pretty sure they're not scallops... - chicken with cashews.

We ordered the General Tso's chicken and Hunan chicken for our entrées, and both were grossly soggy. However, our crab wontons and egg rolls were pretty good, and the delivery was quicker than the estimated time given, so I'll give two stars instead of just one. We probably won't order from here again, though.

We got our food delivered and it arrived very quickly after we ordered. We got sweet and sour chicken and moo goo gui pan and they were both very tasty and hot upon arrival. We will definitely order from them again.

Dined in - great food compared to the other Chinese places around Nashville. Great service as well. Really happy I came across this place and plan on returning.

Hit or miss. Sometimes the food is pretty good, other times it's soggy. If you need something quick that's not pizza, it's worth a try.

I'd rather eat diarrhea. I got soup, dumplings, and orange chicken. The dumplings were good, considering I got them down without vomiting. Can't say the same after I had the soup and orange chicken. The egg drop soup doesn't have broth... Just goo. The chicken was soggy and just nasty. God, I hate this place. Worst wok. Worst damn wok ever!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
