Totally delicious and unique! One of my favorite places! I love the their soft tacos. The staff is very friendly. This place is completely different than any other Mexican restaurant in the area. It is not typical Mexican food. Try it! You will love it!

This is simply the best Mexican food in the area - authentic, simple and delicious. I had 4 tacos - 2 chicken, barbacoa and suadero, or marinated meat. All tacos were served in soft corn tortillas with cilantro and onions. Their simplicity reminded me of food we had in Mexico. The suadero was the highlight for sure. It tasted like my grandmother's roast beef, tender and shredded in a rich red sauce. My husband had the suadero quesadilla, which was full of melted, gooey cheese and out of this world good. Accompanying our meal were three sauces. A red chili sauce that was great but so spicy it made my scalp tingle. Also a medium spicy tomatillo sauce that was probably the best I've ever had, and a creamy avocado chili sauce that paired very well with the suadero. We couldn't pass up Mexican Coke as well, served in large bottles. The interior is a colorful green with cheerful decorations. There's even a foosball table! Our service was impeccable, and reasonably priced at $22 total. We've definitely found a new favorite restaurant!

Not that great. I've had a taco from Mexico and I would call this "almost" authentic. If you want true authentic Mexican food go across the street to the gas station called USA Mart they have a taco shop in the back.

Went on a Friday night and we were the only ones in the place. Red flag. The other reviews are not accurate. I had the burrito (I ordered the chimi but didn't want to wait) and it had the orange nacho sauce on it. I would not call that authentic. We also got the torta. It was decent. Don't waste your time.

This is not your ordinary "Tennesseean-Mexican" food place. You won't be able to get enchiladas here, BUT, they do have fully loaded burritos and chimis here. You've got to get the quesadilla! The food is always fresh and served with a smile. Being from California, this place is as close to California style mexican food I've found in Mid-TN.

Absolutely THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD IN THE STATE OF TENNESSEE. Chimichanga is to die for. Burrito puts Chipolte and Baja Burrito to SHAME. The homemade Chorizo is ridiculously good. Rice and Beans are great and I love how they have the 1 liter BOTTLED Coca Cola's with Pure Cane Sugar instead of High Fructose Syrup. Hands down one of the best places in Nashville/Murfreesboro Area to eat. They only have 4 tables and it is rarely super busy. The Most Authentic Mexican Food around, PERIOD. Even better than La Hacienda on Nolensville Pike, and THAT is saying a lot.

Great authentic Mexican restaurant. This is in a very diverse part of town and it has some of the best authentic food you'll find anywhere in The Boro.

Don't come in here looking for anything but real Mexican food. Easily the best in town.

The. Real. Deal. These guys are amazing. It's a family run joint in a stand alone building just off the corner of Minerva and Rutherford. They used to serve out of a food truck. a few years back we lived right down the street from where they parked the thing. I still remember stepping outside my front door and enjoying the incredible aroma of meats cooking in that huge smoker they toted behind the truck! Authentic Mexican food. And, OH is it delicious. This place is nothing like the typical Americanized "Mexican" restaurant you see all over these days. No sir... That stuff hopes to one day grow up to be Mexiven food! No need to say anything more. Mexiven is simply the Best Mexican food in Murfreesboro, TN. Period.

Definitely go here!! The only thing that would make Mexiven better is if they sold alcohol. Their food is authentic, flavorful, and easily the best in town. Carmens used to be my #1 but Mexiven gives them a run for their money, for sure.

A-Ok with me so far. I have only eaten here once but what I had was good. We had authentic tacos with meat, cilantro and onion. The red and green sauces were not as good as some others I have had but they were not bad. It could cost a tinch less as the tacos I've had other places are .50 to .75 cents cheaper. But they were nice and its worth a try. Don't let the building deter you either. I will be going back.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
