Gondolier Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Food was good. A little bit over the top on cheese though. They were NOT kid friendly though. We had our 10 month old daughter sitting on the edge of the table in a high chair so that my wife and I could both reach her. The manager had our server ask us to move her out of the aisle "so that a server wouldn't trip over her chair". It seemed like they were just making an excuse to us. She was right up against the table though, not out in the aisle or anything. In short: They didn't seem to care about our daughter's comfort. They need to work on focusing on the customer and less on themselves.

We came in last night and we were greeted and sat right away. A waiter cam to get our drink order a few seconds after that, and said he'd be right back with our drinks and some bread. He wasn't lying. A minute or two later he was back with our drinks and some warm buttery garlicy bread sticks and a side of marinara. So far so good! The menu was huge, five pages full of stuff from pasta to pizza, calzones, and stromboli, veal, chicken, lasagna, tortellini. it took us a while to decide. Since it was our first time there we decided to go with safe bets, Linguine Alfredo, and Chicken Parm. The waiter was attentive, and responsive, and offered to fill my water many times. I was pleased with the service. they do sell beer, but no wine. There is a liquor store next door, and they encourage you to bring a bottle over, they do not charge a corkage fee. The food came about five minutes after we ordered, and was steaming. The Alfredo was good, and the pasta wasn't al dente, but not overdone either. The Chicken Parm was tender and flavorful, probably the best I've had in Tennessee to date. It came with spaghetti and meat sauce, which I'll probably skip next time. It was a little overdone, and the meat sauce didn't have too much flavor. So with two entrees that came with salads, and breadsticks, and a beer, the diner cost us about $25 plus tip. Most of the items fell below 10, and few were over 15. I'm excited to try the pizza! we'll be back.

The bread they bring out is good. The spaghetti however, is not so good. Not sure what they do with their meat sauce, but it's gross.

I just love this place and the staff. the decor is beautiful. I see some that dont like the place also have commented on our businesses the same way they have here. I guess some people are just not happy with themself so they have to turn on Businesses to release their attitudes. I was always taught if you dont have nothing nice to say then dont say it!! Gondolier is the best in town~~~

I'd rather have eaten spaghetti o's in the comfort of my own home.

I did not like this place at all. I ordered fettuccine alfredo and it is quite possibly the worst I've ever had. It tasted watered down and nasty. It would have improved the taste of the meal if they had used Great Value alfredo sauce on it instead. My girlfriend had some sort of meatball cheese thing. The cheese tasted nice, and the meatballs were OK, but once the cheese was gone, the noodles and meatballs were very meh. We ended filling up on bread sticks which were quite good. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this place.

My wife and I have been several times and are always amazed at not only how good the food is, but also how much you get. The free bread and marinara that you start off with is phenomenal! We usually order an appetizer of fried zucchini which is out of this world. By that point a sane person would normally stop eating, but the food is so good we then order an entree. I usually agonize over the menu for a few minutes due to page after page of tantalizing choices. I usually try something different on every visit and am always blown away. If one is foolish enough to even dare go for a dessert after taking in the portions served here, you will not be disappointed! Lastly, the service is great and we've never been where we did not have a visit from the manager. He is a hoot and always makes sure everything is perfect.

If you have a sweet tooth then this is the place to go! The Baklava Cheesecake is OUT OF THIS WORLD!! Everything our table ordered was super scrumptious. The Greek Pizza, Gyro w/ Fries & Chicken smothered in Spinach/Mozzarella w/ a side of Spaghetti and Breadsticks!! Great prices and friendly service! No wait for a table and food arrived promptly!

I can't say enough great things about this restaurant. A friend of mine said they were fairly new to the area, so my bf and I gave them a try. The food was phenomenal! They serve an awesome variety of Italian and Greek dishes. The staff are very friendly and welcoming.

Unless you're in the mood for an argument, stay away... My wife and I have eaten here 4 times. The first time was good and the rest were disasters. The 2nd time we got take out and the ingredients in the order were completely screwed up. On a dish that the menu said would contain sausage, onions, and green peppers I asked for no green peppers. What I got was a dish full of every pepper (red, green, yellow) known to man (along with a little sausage and onions). But hey, accidents happen. So we went in person the next time and I ordered a stromboli. I had to send it back because it was burnt. The Maitre D brought it back to me to try an convince me it wasn't burnt. It was mostly black, super crispy, and dry. It was burnt but he wanted to argue. After that it took a long time before we went back, but today we decided to try again. We ordered a stuffed pizza that (according to menu) normally contains pepperoni, sausage, ham, and bacon. We said no sausage please. When we got the pizza we thought it contained sausage because it had a ton of ground beef in it. We shook our heads, called the waitress and sent the pizza back. Sure enough a minute later out comes the Maitre D to argue with us that the pizza didn't have sausage (just like we asked). But it did contain ingredients that we didn't order. The Maitre D just couldn't understand why we didn't want a pizza that was full of a topping we didn't order. So once again, it becomes a debate. I don't believe the customer is always right but with this Maitre D the customer is always wrong. There is never a reason why a customer should have to accept bad food, bad service, or incorrect orders. But far worse than all of that, the customer should never be forced to justify why they don't want bad food and/or incorrect orders. My family and I eat out at a lot of local restaurants in Murfreesboro and Smyrna and this is the only place where we've had to put up with this nonsense. Well, never again. Unless you're in the mood for an argument, don't go the The Gondolier.

Sometimes consistency is the answer and we have always received that here . Food quality and service is good . Great for lunch or a quick bite . Understand that it's cuisine is Italian but with a Greek flair but overall good ...priced fairly .

Still one of the best all around places in Murfreesboro. Tonight we were with a huge group of students for their 8th grade formal and used the banquet room. The food came out amazingly fast for such a large group, and everything was spot on. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, and the desserts are not to be missed!

  • Hope D.

The only other restaurant in town I can compare this bland food to, is Demo's. Both extremely lacking flavor and it's questionable as to whether or not the food came straight from the freezer. The service was terrible and I overheard the waitresses talking about how the manager flirts with them. Probably not a conversation for the dining room, perhaps the courthouse? Just my opinion. If you love bland food that only gets better by dumping salt on it, come to Gondolier!

Really good food! Pizzas are great and they have great cakes for dessert! The guy who owns the place can be aggravating because sometimes he won't leave you alone. He seems very fake. The staff seems really unhappy here and you can almost never get a refill.

The worst Chicken Parm sandwich I've ever eaten. Chicken was dry. The bread was very soggy from too much sauce & served with cold French fries.

Food was decent, but takeout service is sloooooooooooooooow. Got 90 min to wait for a Calzone? Wait, I know what you're thinking... "He probably just sat there like a bump on a log"? Nope. I brought it to the attention of the owner 30 minutes into my journey. "Oh, well, Surely they must have been crowded, or understaffed?" Nope. "Bummer. in that case I'm sure the owner apologized or offered him a dessert for the inconvenience, or at least just said 'hey man we're having a rough night' right?" Nope! Nobody acted like this was the least bit out of the ordinary. Owner avoided eye contact for the last 60min. Will not return. Check out 'The Alley On Main' if you're in that neck of the woods and prefer good service along w/ your food.

Nice classic Italian fare. Not too busy during lunch/later in the day, which makes it a good quick spot to stop in. Good salads and meals, but their deserts are awesome. You'll notice them when you walk in as they have the cakes in a display. I'd say give it a chance if you are undecided.

We ate here the other night with some friends, and were delighted with our experience. The restaurant was clean, spacious, and tastefully decorated, promoting a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. The general manager is very charismatic and greeted us warmly...and kept us laughing! He is clearly very hands on and it shows in the quality of food and service. Our food was excellent and the desserts were wonderful....and huge! Can't wait to try more items on the extensive menu. We like Gondolier because it is reasonably priced, the food is delicious, service is great, and there is truly something for everyone.

I was very unimpressed when I went to The Gondolier. It's been a while since I've eaten there. I probably need to go back to see if it is any better. When I did go, the menu was way too much. On the sign, they were advertising something like "Over 75 items Under $6." If you want something cheap, that's fine. But it tastes cheap too. And no restaurant should have a menu that large. If they slimmed it down and concentrated on fewer items, it might be better. It has been voted in a local publication as "Best Italian Restaurant in M'boro." Calling it Italian is like voting Taco Bell "Best Mexican Restaurant." And unfortunately, there isn't much of a selection of Italian Restaurants around here. I bet Fazolli's probably got second place. But I am willing to try it again. Hopefully it has gotten better.

The food was mediocre. Neither me or my wife were impressed. Her chicken was unedible, my dish wasn't very good, the salads were bland (no croutons, cheese, olives, anything). She lost her appetite when she went to the bathroom and found one of the toilet seats smeared with feces. To be fair, maybe someone did this right before we got there and staff didn't have time to see and clean it? My rule is if I can cook something that tastes better than what a restaurant can offer (and I'm not a professional cook by any means), I won't go back. UPDATE: My brother likes this place, so maybe it's just not for us.

I've been here a few times and overall I've had good experiences. Their pasta dishes are very cheesy to the point of almost too much cheese. Went tonight with a group of five and we were promptly seated. Our server was very nice and checked in fairly often to refill drinks. I had the grilled chicken salad and it was okay. Chicken was pretty good and the salad was... Salad. I had told the server I just wanted a regular salad with chicken but I still got the menu "grilled chicken salad" which had feta and olives. I ended up just picking the extra stuff out. It was an okay dish overall but my bill (before tip) was $12 for a drink + salad which seemed okay but a tad pricey. I will probably be back at some point but it isn't one of my "go to" eating spots. But dessert is freakin amazing! Turtle cake all the way!

Pizzas are great, calzones are smaller than when they first opened but are good. Deserts are expensive but very good and large portion. House salad is basic but Caesar salad is great. They use authentic mozzarella cheese and its good.

I grew up eating at the Gondolier in Cleveland, TN, and then in Ocoee, so I was absolutely thrilled when I found out they opened a location in Murfreesboro, much closer to my now home in Nashville. This location has great service and serves up warm breadsticks as you sit down -- a definite, delicious bonus. Their menu is also much more extensive than the other locations I've been to, with page after page of affordable Italian options (most under $10), as well as many American dishes. Basically, I would find it incredibly hard for someone to not find at least one thing on this menu that they could enjoy. My party had pizza, lasagna, rigatoni, pasta with alfredo sauce and manicotti and all received very positive reviews. Come here for great portions of yummy food at very reasonable prices. Most importantly, don't make the mistake I made -- save room for one of their amazing-looking desserts!

I'm from the Northeast where diners are on every corner and you can get anything on the menu 24-7. Gondolier isn't quite that, but there's something very diner-ish about it to me. Maybe it's the pastry case with the monster (and quite tasty) desserts, or maybe it's the simple dishes served on...simple dishes. Not haute cuisine, just good eats at a good price. Think comfort food. We recently got the Chicken Piccata and stromboli with Italian sausage, peppers and onions. The piccata wasn't fancy but had a very nice flavor. The stromboli was a work of art, with a nice balance of flavors and sausage that had just the right amount of bite--not too hot, not too mild. The breadsticks that accompany every meal have a nice texture and are better eaten fresh rather than warmed up at home in the microwave. Their marinara has a more orange hue to it, and while the color may remind you of Spaghetti O's, it has a more refined and completely acceptable flavor. The salads are crisp and fresh and the balsamic vinaigrette (served on the side) was just fine. The drink glasses are large enough that the wait staff doesn't have to come over every five minutes. Sensible. Portion size is good and filled us to the point where we had to take our desserts home with us. We've had the white chocolate raspberry cake (awesome!) and the tiramisu cake (very nice, but the raspberry was better). The cake slices will feed two or three. I look forward to working my way through the menu, particularly the Greek dishes. Again, if you know going in what the Gondolier is and what it isn't, you'll be very pleased. Now, if we could convince them to put breakfast on the menu and stay open after the bars close...

We tried out Gondolier for the first time recently. Food was pretty good and very reasonably priced. When we were seated, we received complimentary bread sticks and sauce. I really liked that as opposed to the olive oil and pepper you get at other Italian restaurants. The food came out pretty quick and was good. Portion size was just right, lots of cheese on both of our dishes. Overall, we both were pretty happy with the meal. The server seemed like she was new and was obviously in the weeds. She made a few mistakes, nothing too major. She was trying her best and may have just been overwhelmed at that moment. Other staff members came in to help out and everyone was very friendly and courteous. We weren't completely blown away by our first visit, but we had a good meal and left happy. We'll be back to try it again.

I give up. I have tried several things here (pizza, calzone, appetizer, cake) and with the exception of the desserts, the food is bland and very greasy. (They are very generous with the cheese, so that may explain some of it.) The service is friendly and helpful and they deliver for free, but in the end, the food is just not good enough to keep my business. (To be fair, I think the owner is Greek and I never tried anything from the Greek side of the menu, except the spanikopita, which was very greasy.) Best of luck to them though. I hope the owner pays attention to the reviews so he can improve the quality and stay in business.

Date of Visit: 6/16/13 (Sunday) Time of Day: 2:00pm Dress: Casual Parking: decent, but not a ton of space, as this is a stand alone building not connected to any other businesses Wait: none Menu: Extensive and also includes Mediterranean options Atmosphere: Denny's-type Italian - As soon as we walked in it felt like we entered a remodeled Denny's/Perkins/Village Inn. Not what I expected based on the outside of the building. I guess I was expecting more of a Carraba's. Food: Husband had Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo that he had a Caesar salad with. I had the Cheese Tortellini Alfredo and added mushrooms with a house salad and Italian dressing. The alfredo is pure butter almost and slightly runny but surpasses Olive Garden's (for comparison sake); however, still good as the cheese congealed on the fork. Breadsticks, eh tasted like pizza dough. Nothing to write home about. Kind of lacked flavor - complimentary with marinara. Dessert: Seven Deadly Sins cake - large portion (not huge), very good and moist. Coconut cake - large portion, cream cheese icing, moist. Each were priced at $7.00. Bill total - $45 + tip Restrooms: Three stalls - two on the large size. Clean and neat.

This is an excellent, affordable italian restaurant. With an extensive menu, you are sure you find something you like. I enjoyed the spinach and feta calzone. All the dough is hand-made an beautiful and tasty! Dont' skip the massive desserts -- all made at their location. We will be back again.

New favorite Italian restaurant in Murfreesboro. Reasonably priced. Great food. Something on the menu for everyone. Wait staff has always been very attentive. We'll continue to go back and try out different items on the menu.

We pass by all the time a really wanted to try this place out. Even after ready the mediocre reviews. Our server was incredibly nice and we like the decor of the restaurant. We both ordered the specials: spaghetti bread bowl and clams with linguini. I feel like the server mislead us with her description of these dishes. "Fresh clams in a delish lemon-butter sauce. And a hollowed out bread bowl stuffed with fresh spaghetti and coverd and baked with cheese." It was OBVIOUS the clams where canned. The food all tasted a bit bland. I guessed that most of the food is premade from Sysco. Nothing really wowed us taste wise. It was ok. Wasn't bad, wasn't good. It did leave a lot to be desired. I hear they have incredible pizza. so maybe we'll be back. But it's pretty hard to mess up pizza. I do not recommend any of the pasta. The pasta stated over-cooked and the sauces taste very basic and bland. Great service, nice restaurant - just wish the food would have been better.

We've been here several times now. The food is always really good and the price is very reasonable. Not the fanciest place, but I've never had a bad dish here.

Beware, the ingredients in the food you are served are not what is stated on the menu. For example, I wanted a dish without green pepper, onions, or black pepper. My menu selection did not list any of these. I asked the waiter and was told if it wasn't on the menu, it wouldn't be served. Guess what? The dish had all three. On our next visit, I ordered the same thing with a repeat of the previous visit. Asked to see the manager and he said, "that's the way we always serve it." When challenged that the menu should accurately reflect what is being served, the manager said, " The people will just have to get used to the way we prepare the food." At which time, we arose and exited. A friend had a similar experience. With over 300 restaurants in Murfreesboro, you can find one that will actually prepare the food the way YOU want it. Their attitude leaves much to be desired.

Don't waste your time or money. They have no idea what Italian food is. Food was terrible and waiter had no clue about the menu.

The food really isn't that good. I had a few things from there and I must say, it's very lacking. I do think that they have the best gyros in Murfreesboro though. Other than that, their marinara sauce tastes just like tomato sauce. The service is not bad. During their lunch hours there is usually no wait. I only recommend this place if you want to get a good gyro.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
