Food is good. Service blows. Not too bad for the price. :) plus the location is convenient being in the avenue.

I agree with other reviewers that the Franklin location is much better. When this location first opened I enjoyed it tremendously but over the years it has gone downhill. I went in for dinner earlier this week and was left disappointed. Service was okay, it's never too spectacular. My big problem was the food on the line was sub par compared to previous visits. The chicken was all one mass of meat that you had to mush through to get in the bowl. Some veggies were not exactly fresh, many were slimy or mis colored. I had to spend a few minutes digging through the snap peas to find some that were actually green like they were suppose to be. They have changed to a lot of veggies stored in water, which I decided to skip all together. I get that you have to make money but some corners cannot be cut to ensure a great product. Overall I do like Genghis but i feel there is a lot that can be improved in order to have a great overall experience.

What in the world happened to our beloved Genghis Grill? Once upon a time, you were a convenient and somewhat healthy alternative in between shopping stops. But then, today happened. Granted, it's been awhile since we've seen you. Maybe you're under new management... Although, typically that's a good sign. Let's run down the list of cons here: 1) Upon entering, your host was absent. We waited until someone else entered behind us, prompting the door to ring, and one of your employees peeked out from behind the wall giving us an "oh s**t" look before running out and seating us. 2) Your new table computers. At first I was impressed by the neat techy upgrade, but then as we were waiting, we played a game and were charged for it! No mention of cost anywhere. 3) Email deals: the reason we chose you over other eateries in the first place. In the past, we'd been able to show the email deal on our phones and call it a day. Now, apparently your manager will come and find you in line while you're balancing a food bowl, a sauce bowl, and any personal items, and ask to not only see the coupon, but have you email it to him because "you need to print it out." (Even though it doesn't say that anywhere.) 4) I think the "my bad" count from our waiter probably hit 6 during our dine-in time. Should've told us about the game cost. Should've told us about the new cards to give the cooks. Shoulda woulda coulda. Instead of being proactive to fix it? "My bad." 5) There's a fine line between the food being delightfully crispy and inedibly charred. Unfortunately, you crossed that line today. I can't tell you how many times my hubs has talked up Genghis Grill and vied for your establishment as our top dinner option. Today, we both left disappointed. And even though he has a free bowl remaining on his rewards card, I told him he'd have to offer a major bribe to get me to return. Two stars because the manager (after asking four times to speak with him) kindly comped one of our bowls.

It was my first trip the concept is pretty cool you get what you want instead of items you have to ask to leave off on other types of places. The staff was helpful but i did notice tape on the seat cushion where my date was sitting really not cool thats why only 4 stars

First time ever in there today, cross contamination is all that comes to mind in this place. The food was ok but way over priced and the whole setup is just to confusing for newbies. The staff was nice but need to be more educated on showing customers how to enjoy the dinning experience. The biggest issue I had was touching all the serve ware becasue there was raw chicken and pork juice on everything and no way to clean it or your hands. Also if you go out to eat and are not trained in knowing food profiles stay away because your bound to cook up a horrible and expensive mess and can only blame yourself if you choose not to use the small menu choices they do have. I Will not be returning but if you are brave give it a shot and decide for yourselves.

And Ghengis Grill is probably one of my favorite restaurants. Not only is it delicious but usually all of the food is really fresh. There is also great service and great waiters such as the manager John and the most awesome server I have ever had Victor!!!! I recommend everybody to get something to eat here!!!! whether you are a vegetarian a meat eater or somebody that lives all types of food,go here to Genghis Grill it is the bomb!!!!!!!!

I like the concept of a Mongolian Grill, being able to pick exactly what goes into your dish, including sauces and spices. What freaks me out though is all that meat just sitting out there...others digging their way through it, along with me (i know where my hands have been, but what about the dude in front of me?) Also the sauces just sit out as well (anything could fall in there and I would never know) So it's a gamble when you go to a place like this, luckily all has been well, so far. :)

I was pleasantly surprised when I tried this restaurant. It's a mongolian grill, where you put together a completely customized meal by choosing from an assortment of meats/seasonings, veggies, sauce and type of starch. There are vegan offerings, veggies in combos, and even recommendations for various popular combos if you are a first timer or unsure of what you might like. There is a full bar that makes hip drinks, including sake mixed drinks that I might try on a future visit. Genghis is located next to Which Wich, but two stores over, the major store that you can see from the road is Barnes and Nobles. I'm glad that the new hospital development and gateway area is built. There is a lot more variety for shopping and dining now and I hope this area continues to be developed.

The food is always good here but today's visit our waitress looked at us several times in a 10 min time period after we were seated yet refused to come take our drink order or bring us our bowls. Another waiter asked us if we had been waited on an after he spoke to our original waitress he became our server. She looked like it was a bother for anyone that she had an her tone with the table next to us wasn't pleasant. So glad we got this young man. We were about to walk out when he talked to us. Shame that she is in this business cause her attitude isn't what it should be being a waitress. Everytime she's walked past us she's given us dirty ass looks. We come here whenever were in the area an the wait staff is something the manager should be aware of. The young guy we've had today was very pleasant but busy. I'm sure we're not the first table he's had to cover for her

Today Noel and I was out shopping looking for a spring jacket for my grand daughter Saige and we saw the Genghis Grill and both wanted to try it. We had been talking about it for a while now and since Tony was not with us..seemed like a great idea. After we finished our shopping it was about 11:45 so we opted to go before major lunch traffic at the AVENUE MALL in Murfreesboro. We went inside and was greeted immediately by the hostess and seated towards the back of the restaurant. She told us the server would be with us soon. Once our server arrived she was very friendly and asked if this was our first time...we must have had that "deer in the headlight look"...lol !!! She told us the bowl sizes, and that we should pick one or two items to be added by the cook, like fried/brown or steamed rice, ulong noodles, and cabbage...I just the noodles and cabbage and Noel went for steamed rice and noodles. She gave us a pen to write on a card our names and to circle our choices. Then you go get in the line, pick your proteins..I went for spicy chicken and Noel went with crab meat, then you choose your spices....we both went with salt, pepper and garlic and then I added some ginger and she went with dragon spices. Then you go for the veggies...and there are so many items to choose from..I went with bok choy, onions, bamboo strips, water chestnuts, mushrooms, carrots, zucchini, and jalapenos and my sauce choice was Kom Pow. Noel went with Jalapenos, onions, muchrooms, carrots and broccoli with dragon sauce. Then you hand it off to the cook who cooks it on this large round stone grill surface...and then they bring it to you at your table. The food was very good. We ate our meals with chopsticks and drank sodas. It was very good !!! I want to eat here again and soon!!!

I've always really enjoyed this place! The wait staff is kind of hit or miss, but never bad. The food has always been delicious and my father and I go here almost every time he comes through town.

So if you go go Ghengis Grill Murfreesboro TN 2615 Medical Center Pkwy store,. DO NOT let your kids touch the table top tablets. They look like an advertising gizmo, a little lighted screen...but they really offer games for 30 cents a play and photos with no listed price. My son picked it up while we were looking at the menu and started taking pictures. After a minute we realized what he was doing and made him stop. I honestly thought the thing was just an advertising gizmo. Its a functioning tablet. That charges your kid to take his own picture. He took 10. $3 was added to the bill. At no point did it warn him that he was being charged, it just showed on the bill. I asked that the charges be removed. The manager removed $1.50.I told the manager that 1) there was no prices listed for the pictures 2) you can not legally enter into a binding contract with a 10 year old and force a third party to pay it 3) I want a refund... the manager John did not care. Total apathy, total lack of concern that a long time customer felt cheated. No refund. John did not even attempt an apology. I have never seen such a massive lack of concern over ones job. I will never eat there again. Keep my $1.50. I will take all my business elsewhere. The check was $51.74 and we tipped $8.00. I hope the buck fifty was worth losing all my future business. Dec 5 2014 By the way, our server was excellent.

I hate to rain on the parade of 4 and 5 stars, but this place doesn't deliver when compared to its Cool Springs sibling. I like Ghengis Grill, their concept, and what they have to offer in general. I'd love to give it more stars, but I can't based on my experiences here. I'm not going to bore you with how this place works. You either know that already, or can read it in one of the other reviews. My gripes: Both times I was here, all of the meats were mostly frozen. Like, had to chip off pieces of steak cubes, frozen. Frost and ice in the shrimps, frozen. Not a good start. All of the sauces were out in the open with ladles sitting in them allowing for cross-contamination. Cool Springs is better about this, as they have the sauces in pump dispensers. My biggest complaint is the cooking time. Both times we dropped off our bowl and picked our starch. We were given a number and then proceeded to wait forever for our food. Maybe I'm spoiled in Cool Springs, but there, you give them your ingredients and either wait there at the grill or take a number and sit down. The cooks there have it down cold and turn out a lot of food quickly while making sure everything is cooked properly. In this Boro location, your bowl sits in a line 20+ deep on the counter while 4 grill cooks take 8 years and a day to do anything. Both times we waited 25-30 minutes to get our food. Last gripe is the service. Both times our servers were horrible. Empty glasses with no refills even though they passed our table multiple times. I will only go back to this location if the people in my group want to go.

Food once it was cooked was good Odd business model. The concern I have is the raw meats laying out. It also takes a really long time to get your food cooked. Don't go if your in a hurry. Service at this location was less then great. Our drinks too forever to get refills. When we were provided checks there were no pens to sign our receipts. We rarely saw our server. Try if you want. Maybe you will like the "assemble your own raw ingredients"

The place smelled like death. The meats were not fresh. The server was an idiot. Kept trying to make witty jokes at my expense. First experience. Assumed that because I was big I'd want a big serving. Ended up getting too much food. When I got up to get my food, they move the table and pushed the chair back in after I'd washed up to eat (didn't want to touch sticky chair again). I would not eat at this location again. The service was terrible. Making fun of the customer, their cloths, phone, etc... it doesn't get you a tip.

Last night was my first bad experience here in over a year, so I consider 3 stars to be a fair compromise. Had last night been my first experience, my rating would be a 1 and we would never be back. Had last night never happened, it would be closer to a 5. We were meeting another couple for dinner on a Monday evening. As we walked in, my fiance said he wondered if our friends were already here. It was easy to see, as the restaurant was virtually empty, that we arrived first. We were promptly seated, given menus, shown how to work the new table-side ordering system "Where you can order everything but your bowl!" and gave our drink orders. A water and a Sprite. Nothing earth shattering. Our friends arrived probably 5 minutes after us, during which time we had not received our drinks. During that time I also used the table computer to order edamame for an appetizer. We waited. And we waited. 10 minutes went by and my fiance and I didn't have our drinks, and no one had even acknowledged that our friends had also been seated. Our friend finally got up and approached the first server he could find to let her know we had been waiting awhile. She was kind enough to take their drink orders as our server came up behind her with our waters and sodas. After 20 minutes (from the time we entered the restaurant) we got our bowls and went through the line. The food, as always, was delicious and came out piping hot and fresh from the grill just a short time after we gave our bowls over to the kitchen. The edamame I ordered? Never came. Just before we got our checks our server came over saying that the printer was "messed up" and that's what happened with the appetizer. Unfortunately, I do not believe him as he was very inattentive all night and my gut tells me he missed the order entirely. We never got an apology about that, either. Simply a "Did you still want that?" Also a strike against the fancy new table side computer system. We were given our checks, and then proceeded to sit with our credit cards out for so long our friends started digging through their purse/wallet, respectively, looking to come up with enough cash to be able to just walk out. I was going to swipe our credit card through the table computer (a perk of the fancy technology!), but our bill was wrong on it, so I couldn't. Eventually our server came around and picked up the tickets and took his sweet time returning them. You know what rubs me the wrong way with some waitstaff? Excuses. Especially excuses not accompanied by a halfway sincere apology. I was a waitress for 4 years. I know things happen. But I also know that body language and tone make up 90% of communication. Offer an apology and move on. Our server, however, didn't apologize one single time during our entire experience, instead saying that he just got handed a party of 10 and a party of 6 back to back. Excuses. I also feel like Amanda W (review from 6/14, 3 days before mine) and I very possibly could have had the same server. The demeanor she describes sounds very familiar. Frankly, we will be back. The food is still great and I'm pretty picky so I love the opportunity to build my own bowl! Next time, however, we will be vocal about our issues in hopes of a manger addressing it. Hopefully by then the printer is fixed ;)

Why all the changes?!? They are pricing themselves out of business! I used to frequent this restaurant at least three or four times a month as it was affordable and tasty; however, during the past few months it has steadily declined. The most recent visit (a couple weeks ago) was when I should have known something was wrong when there were only 5 patrons in the establishment (usually this place is packed). The price increase (plus tax, drink, tip would end up costing almost $20.00) and I could go elsewhere and get a steak dinner. Sorry Genghis, but you have lost a loyal customer.

Today we waited five minutes for anyone to approach our table for drink orders. The hostess came over and informed us our server is really busy and we would have to wait, but she'd be happy to get us drinks. My mom, in a concerned but very kind tone, informed her that we were kind of in a hurry and the hostess said "well, how much time DO you have?" (As if going to a self-service restaurant should require an extended time commitment...) I just asked if we could get two drinks and two regular bowls so we could get started. She acted like this was an ordeal, but she did it. I know a few people had to wait at the hostess stand as they arrived while she was helping us, but she shouldn't have sat us in a section where the server had just started his break. ( I saw two other servers working who seemed like they had time to help us, and one of these guys, who was very nice, eventually did help us.) I know the server who was originally supposed to serve us had gone on break because the computer at the table said as much when the new server was trying to input our orders. The computer automatically adds 20% tip unless you change it. I usually tip anywhere between 20 and 30% depending on service, but I thought 20% was a bit presumptuous considering it's not a full-service restaurant. You fix your own food and take care of your own bill... Also, the computer weirdly asks you to rate your experience while you're there before your server brings you your receipt. I didn't feel comfortable doing this since the guy who eventually did help us was okay, and I figured it would reflect poorly on him and not the incompetent hostess. Fortunately I don't like the food very much, so I won't really miss not going back. I hope today was just an anomaly. They weren't short staffed. Employees were everywhere. It just seems they don't have things figured out yet...

We recently trekked out to Genghis Grill for a group lunch, and though the food was mostly good I did not have a good experience. I filled my bowl moderately with tofu (which was served in large squares) and veggies, and loved making a special mix using the sauces. When I handed my bowl over to the cook I ask that the tofu be chopped up as it was cooking. Tofu eaters will know that large blocks of tofu stay mushy in the middle, where as smaller chunks cook up firmer. I watch the serve write my request on the slip that goes with the food to the grill. Our food was out to our tables fairly quickly and arrived still hot from the grill, however my tofu was still in chunks and squishy in the middle. No big deal. I stopped a waitress to politely and apologetically let her know that my request was not met and explain why I had made the request. She took the bowl and a few seconds later returned it. The tofu had been chopped up, however it was very obvious that it had not hit the grill again. Seriously? If all I had wanted was it chopped I would have done that at the table, not sent it back. I specifically asked for it to be chopped while cooking. Now I understand that people who do not eat tofu may not realize the different this makes, however viewed as a just a customer request it was a pretty simple request. I decide to just eat it the food as was and stay silent. That's when I notice that the amount of rice that was added was pretty small, Since the starch is added after the foods cooked and placed at the bottom you don't really see it until you dig in. So since I went light on the fillings my bowl was a pretty small portion. No big deal usually, but for $12 a meal it was pretty unfulfilling. Now others at the table raved about their dishes, so it was just myself that had an underwhelming experience. I wouldn't be opposed to giving the place another try, but I definitely will not be ordering tofu again. For that I'll go to one of my mom and pop places that know how to do tofu up right. Genghis Grill definitely had enough veggies on the prep line that I'm sure I could make a good meal with out the tofu, now that I know you'll have to sufficiently stack the bowl.

Think... Buffet of raw food. OK.... Maybe that was a bad idea. Ok, try this.... Think Interactive cooking where you don't have to cook anything. Better? Maybe not, but this place is still fun a d can produce some good food and drinks. If you're new to Mogolian BBQ style of eating its like this. You get a bowl. You fill it up with stuff. You pick out some spices and sauces. They give that bowl to some master technicians with big stick. They whack it, spin it, grill it, and match it with a starch then you eat it. Rinse and repeat! Make sure to try some of their creative and playful drink combos as well.

This place is unlike any other restaurant that I've been to in the 'Boro area. I will admit, I was really taken aback at first by how many options there were. And like other people who have reviewed it, I was a little concerned by the fact that there were so many meats sitting in such a close proximity to one another and it looked a little sloppy. The stations with the vegetables and the sauces were kinda the same. But the end result is nothing short of amazing. The amount of food you can pile into the bowl that they give you is just crazy. I ate on that for three different meals, no lie. Also, for those of you who like to partake in alcohol, they have some crazy strong drinks. I ordered something that was blue and about knocked my socks off. I had to ask the waitress if she could do something to make it less alcoholic, which should seem ridiculous, but that's how strong it was. In the end I think I could've just split it into two glasses and filled the rest with water and still gotten wasted. I love this place and can't wait to go back! I'm actually lunching there next week!

Gengis is great. You pick your mix of meat, seafood, or veggies and they cook it in front of you if you wish. Its fun to pick your sauces out and taste and mix them. Theyre sweet tea is great, large clear glasses, and the service is great, so your glass wont run empty. Its not a cheap meal, but not expensive. If you dont like the meal you can only blame yourself- you hand picked everything and seasoned it as well. Look for a 20% off coupon in the local newspaper or magazines before you go and youll feel better about dining if its your first time. Youll go back, makes dinner fun to pick it out.

So I've never been to a Genghis Grill before in my life until tonight. I was pleased with this place. I liked the big space it was in, high ceilings, and general setup. I went at about 10:00 on a Saturday night, so it wasn't busy..which I also enjoyed. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive..yet casual and not too hyper/phony..such as many waitstaff in restaurants are. I thought the whole idea of pretty much picking everything from the meats and fish you wanted (and a plethora there was)..to the seasonings (all delicious, unique, and vital)..to the vegetables&fruits..to the sauces..this entire experience was just different and unique. I have never been to or even heard of a place like this before so I was excited to basically put together my entire meal..short of cooking it myself. I put together a ridiculous assortment of spices, veggies, fruits, meats, and sauces and somehow..it came out amazing still. The service was quick..the food was delicious, filling but not too heavy, and the price..was definitely fair. I was satisfied overall with my Genghis Grill experience!:)
