Damn good pizza. Thin crust. A little crispy but not so much I feel like I'm eating off a cracker. Generous, fresh toppings. All cooked properly with a tangy red sauce that doesn't fight the pie as a whole. In a city that lacks many great pizza options, Rock and Dough has carved out a niche consistent quality with a fun vibe. Nice work guys.

We ordered delivery not knowing much about the area and looking for something interesting. We weren't sure from the website if they deliver or not. They were very friendly and helpful over the phone and gave us an hour to hour-fifteen delivery time. It wound up being 25 minutes sooner. Delivery guy was friendly. We ordered the muffilizza. The muff is one of my favorite sandwiches but wasn't sure how this would work out on a pizza. Ingredients were tastefully minimalist and not over done. The olive salad could have been a bit much but it was just enough to get the idea without taking over. Dough was perfect. Overall, this is a great pizza place and wish we had one in our city.

What a Pizzaaaaaaaaaa Medium is a huge pizza, the burger was my favorite. So yummy So sad 'cause they don't have prosciutto, but this is really good.

Besides the name being beyond awesome, this is some of the best pizza that I have ever eaten. They have a helpful and very friendly staff that constructs delicious oversized pies with many great topping choices sourced from local ingredients. The crust is soft with a crisp bottom and a thickness just thin enough for thin crust enthusiasts like me and enough heft to satisfy those who love thicker crust. There is a freshness to the crust and the sweet sauce that you do not get from other pizza places around town. I presume that comes from making the pizza and dough in house daily. They are on the pricier side of pies in the city; however, you get what you pay for! They have slice combos for lunch that include a salad--the slices are so large that I can barely finish one! Also, their food truck is at the downtown farmer's market on Saturdays. I absolutely love this place and always suggest this to everyone for pizza in the city. This is the place for high quality food, great service and the best pizza in Memphis.

I stopped in for a late lunch/quick slice on a Saturday afternoon. There was only one other table there when I arrived so I had pretty much my choice of seats in the very small dining room. I ordered from the slice counter and told them I wanted a slice of pepperoni (go to pizza at any new place for comparison). The crew was very friendly and processed my order efficiently and effectively. No issues there! I get my drink and my slice arrives... Upon first look I am a bit turned off by the way the it looked. They added some cheese on top and it wasn't melted as much as the other and just looked kind of strange and out of place. I have my first bite and daymnnnn! It is really good! I was very impressed! The crust was probably one of the best I have had. Why three starts you say,?? Well, as I progressed through the slice I realized why the added cheese hadn't melted all the way... It was cool in the middle of the slice... I ate it; the rest of the slice was nowhere near as good as the first bite was. If it had been it this would be a four or fiver... I will be back to order a fresh whole pizza... If it is as good as my first bite it will get another review soon!

I actually really liked their pizza, however for the price I thought they were cheap with the toppings. I love my pizza toppings lol So that's why they lost a star in my book. If I'm paying $32 for a large pie of pizza (and it is a huge pie) I want lots of toppings especially if it's their signature USA USA pizza. Besides that small critique, service was decent and I really liked my Greek side salad. I will definitely be back to try something else off their menu, as their pizza was delicious!

These people are sincerely dedicated to doing pizza right. Fresh ingredients, tasty crust, and a variety of "designer" pizza selections. This is a critical for those who arrive famished and in a hunger induced mental fog. The advantage is yours as Rock N Dough's thoughtfully planned flavor themes come to the rescue of those like me who hate the crushing burden of engineering the pie one ingredient at a time. In the growing restaurant category of premium pizza places in Memphis, Rock 'n' Dough distinguishes itself by bridging the convenience and speed of the chain stores with the compelling quality of the pricier upscale competition. Give 'em a try. Fast and good. Nice lunch stop too, with "by the slice" options.

Best. Pizza. In. Memphis! SO GOOD. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Pizza slices are BIGGER THAN UR HEAD. (actually not my head, but i have a ginormous head for a girl). Any of their pizzas are good, you can't go wrong. I order by the slice, because I can only eat 1 slice at a time, but you're welcome to order the pie. But caution: the "smallest" pie size is BIG!!!!! This pizza rivals New York's best pizza / best pizza i've ever had. So if you're from Memphis and you love pizza as much as i do, GO HERE!!!!! Great environment, great service. If you're ordering by the slice, just go ahead and go up to the pizza guys and tell them which one you want, then you go and pay at the counter. Their side salads aren't bad either. I dont know what kind of dressing they use but its good!

Started out as a food truck slinging pizza at Memphis on the streets, Rockin Dough is working on its 3rd location. It's knife and fork pizza with big floppy slices covered with creative toppings. Some of the best pizza you'll eat. memphislikealocal.com/20…

I love this place. Very family friendly and the dining experience is very good. I love the various unique pizza options here. This place almost reminds you of a Subway/Chipotle but for pizza. I highly recommend coming here if you want very good pizza for a good price.

The other reviews were right. This place has great pizza. My biggest complaint is that there isn't much room to dine in, so next time my husband and I will order take out.My husband and I had the garlic bread pizza and it was very good. We look forward to trying more pizzas.

We got the Market Salad and Supreme pizza to go for the office. The large is huge. Four of us ate two thirds of the salad and half the pizza. The salad was good and all, but we were there for the pizza. The crust is light and airy. It's perfect. I usually prefer thin crust to avoid all that dough, but this is the way to go. The sausage is fresh, not those horrible balls of undecided meat origin that sits on a lot of other pizzas. What IS that stuff? Two of the four of us proclaimed this the best pizza in town. One loved it and doesn't even like pizza. The fourth is writing this five star review. My ONLY complaint would be the lack of wine and it's a small complaint. The venue is more of an eat and run kinda place. Go and grab a slice of something delicious on your way!

I had 2 coworkers a while back. One had grown up in NYC for much of her life and the other spent several years there. When this place opened up down the road, they both tried it and for a month or two it was practically all they talked about. "Finally, REAL New York-style pizza in Memphis!" they kept saying. They were bringing pizza from here back to work probably 2 times a week. One of those days they brought me a slice of pepperoni and mushroom pizza. Nothing fancy. The first bite I took was like a whole new experience of pizza. I had never tried pizza like this. Every pizza I've gotten from here has been exceptional. I hear most of their ingredients are fresh and homemade. It certainly shows. Not only are the sizes and crust New York size, but the quality is really good. I don't look at pizza the same way anymore. This is the best. Absolutely a must-try!

  • Candace B.

I love this place only wish I lived closer...only get by here every once and a while. Only a few tables so a lot of their business is take out. They have a great thin crust with tons of combinations for the toppings and when you order a slice you pretty much get half a pizza! The only complaint I have is that sometimes the pizza can be a little greasy...but still good. Also, there ranch is amazing it has to be homemade.

I did the delivery option so I cannot rate the actual site. Delivery was prompt to my hotel " Embassy Suites" on Poplar and Shady Grove. I ordered the Margarita and it was fantastic. The sauce was tart with a hint of sweet. The tomatoes were cooked just right and the basil was not burnt to carbon. The dough was golden brown and had a hint of garlic and salt. This pizza held up well consider the amount of tomatos, sauce and mozzarella were on it. Kudos.

I am quite a fan of the Rock N Dough location in Jackson, TN, so I figured since this location was right down the street from me, I should give it a try. I walked in and quickly saw that this location was far smaller and had less frills about it. There is not a lot of seating, and it struck me as more of a counter-order café than a restaurant. However, we were seated and greeted by a very friendly server. She was attentive to our needs and provided for an excellent experience. We ordered the lemon-garlic pizza (sounds weird, but oh my Lord is it amazing!). It was just as good as the other location in Jackson, and the prices here are quite reasonable for the value that you get. Overall, I would strongly recommend this place if you're looking for good food and lack the need for frills.

I was at St . Francis hospital where my wife was having a procedure done. Thinking about what to have for lunch I could only think of one place in the area . Rock n Dough...... THE BEST PIZZA IN TOWN. If you haven't tried it you need to. Fresh Fresh Fresh. The customer service was great nice people good pizza what more could you ask for.

I have wanted to try Rockin' Dough for quite awhile now, so we went yesterday after church. To be honest, I wasn't greatly impressed. However, I must say that I think it is just a personal thing and not a reflection on the company. We had the 'Roni and my daughter and I split the Italian sandwich. The sandwich was really good and the pizza wasn't bad, but for the price we paid, I have had much better. It was very clean and the waitress was friendly and attentive, but I just didn't care for it.

  • Joan C.

The pizza is absolutely delicious! The crust is perfect--not too thick or chewy--just right. I recommend Rockin Dough to everyone. So glad the retail shop is close to my house! But I now hear they deliver. It costs more than Pizza Hut or Dominos, but the pizza is definitely worth it!

  • Ryan M.

I got a bacon cheeseburger pizza, delivered. It was decent. Left something to be desired for the price. Saving grace was there was a lot of bacon...the crust was not good which you'd think would be a specialty calling themselves Rockin' Dough...or maybe that's a pun about their crust tasting like small bits of hard earth? I prefer Trolley Stop's pizza. 3 stars: b/c pizza is like sex...even if it's bad sex, you're STILL having sex. Worth another shot...I'll try a different pizza next time, but I was not impressed. From Chicago, so I might be a harsher pizza critic than most.

Really great pizza for Memphis. It's huge and it's good. The few times i had it the taste was very consistent. Did delivery and it was fast and pie still hot. My next trip will be dine in. The salads are really fresh too. It's worth the trip and the money.

WOW, WOW, WOW!!!!!! If your looking for something to leave an impression this is the pizza for you. The only bad thing about my experience is that I leave tomorrow. There is a place back home that always delivers when it come to taste but they could learn a thing or two from these guys. I dined at different establishment while I was here but I found my go to place in Memphis. Thank you Rock & Dough pizza Co. I'll be back in April so save me a slice!

  • Jason K.

This pizza joint has a nice rockin' vibe and the service was extremely friendly and welcoming. I just was not a huge fan of the food. There was nothing particularly Greek about the Greek salad aside from a few olives and a sprinkling of crumbled feta. No cucumbers (!) and the dressing was a sweet thick balsamic mashup. The "Fun Guy" pizza was generously loaded with shrooms but was oddly bland and lacking in flavor. The crust was thin and crispy, but dry and crumbly like a cracker. I prefer a crust with some chew to it...though you could see the guys tossing their crusts, it did not seem that they developed enough gluten, thus no chew. In any case, service was as friendly as can be...I'm OK with giving them another try.

  • Melissa G.

Yummy yum yum! Love the option of buying a whole pie or buying it by the slice. The place is pretty small (seats about 20) but the atmosphere is great with the big TV and modern/industrial seating. They have lots of options for toppings...traditional and non such as spinach, feta cheese, and artichoke. They also have a few salad options which is nice too. The pizza is a thin but not cracker thin. It is crispy which tasted great! Save your crust! The best part is at the end when you can use honey on the table to dip your crust in it...nothing like a built in dessert!

  • Melanie L.

Great cheese pizza with a crispy crust and fresh mushrooms on top. The sauce is not too salty or sweet just flavorful. Pizza a served right out of the oven and it was gooey and glorious! The atmosphere is cool I was lovin the Aerosmith played while we were there. Fun to watch the guys tossin and topping the pizzas as we ate. A few tables inside and some outside and the place was full. I thought Jenna at the front counter was super sweet, efficient, and genuinely enjoyed having us first timers there. The Greek salad was tasty with red onion tomato greens feta and olives with a homemade dressing on the side. I can see why my friends get their pizza every Friday night at Rockin Dough!

Pizza slice is bigger than my head! Had a slice of pepperoni and a house salad. Overall it was pretty good, not amazing to me. May have to try another topping to have better judgment of the place. #4Memphis

  • Shaddo D.

It's really good pizza but I wouldn't say it's the awesomest ever either. I had a half garlic/half pepperoni. The garlic side was great but the lemon actually wasn't needed. The pepperoni port in was just ok and nothing to write home, or Yelp, about. It is a bit pricey but it's more artisan than most. The crust is a doughy type that isn't heavy overall and is quite taste. The tomato sauce is run of the mill to me. Stick with the garlic one, yummy!

  • Sharon H.

I love all pizza pretty much, but this was super tasty and I loved how the crust underneath had a great crisp. I got half Rita and half angry Hawaiian. Half and half was staff suggestion since I mentioned it all sounded great. I liked the Rita a little better but would get both again. It's not cheap but worth it. I followed reviewers advice and ordered a fresh pizza and avoided the reheated slices. My small for $17.50 was totally delicious and worth it. If I lived close I would eat here again and again!

  • Gloria C.

A slice of 'za bigger than your face served with a smile! The straight up pepperoni was right up my alley. Crispy, light on the sauce (amen!), and full of pepperoni's that tasted as if they were shipped from Sicily that morning. There was a nice seasoning on it, and I appreciated the generous slathering of oregano. One piece and a small side salad did the trick. I wouldn't recommend it for a full dining experience, though. The dining room is simple and small. It might be a better take-out option, and heck, isn't your couch in your PJ's the best place to enjoy pizza anyway?

    (4)
  • Rebecca C.

This pizza is delicious!!! My one complaint is the space in here. There's only like 5 tables and it's extremely close. The staff are very friendly. The garlic breadsticks were to die for. It took about 35 minutes for take out. The XLarge pizza is ginormous!! They told us it would feed 5 people and we didn't really believe them. Not until I was carrying out a giant box that wouldn't fit in the seats in my car! And at $24, it was a great deal.

  • Chris C.

Pizza does not get better than the Margarita pizza at Rock n' Dough. It's sublime enough to make you regret that you have but one stomach to give for your meal. This is a case where a few standouts work to make the rest of the place a 5-star experience even though it's not quite all there all the time. If you catch them with a fresh Margarita or a BBQ slice, you're golden. If you come at an off time and the selection is small, better wait until there's something fresh--it's well worth the wait. I also like the side salad options, especially the interesting dressings they put on them, though be warned a quality slice, salad, and drink runs about $10. Fortunately, you usually get your money's worth because the slices can be gigantic and the ingredients are quality. Staff has also always been great and very helpful in making a selection. It's interesting having this place right across the way from Pyro's. Rock N' Dough is great if you're looking just for the pizza and don't care much for the ambiance; though the massive TV is great for sports, the whole place is a bit cramped. Come for the pizza, stay for the pizza.

Had to try since it was on the "hot new business list!" It replaced a frozen yogurt joint (I'm a tad hostile about that since I'm addicted...) The inside is VERY small with limited seating... I recommend you choose take out. We ordered the BBQ pizza and the SMGC (?) pizza and they were both REALLY good! The bbq pizza had ricotta cheese on it and it was absolutely delicious!! I was surprised at how fresh everything was. The guys worker there were extremely helpful and nice during our order. The cashier was also very sweet! My only complaint is how long we had to wait for our order. I know, I know everything is made to order, BUT it wasn't busy and we waited for a good 20 minutes. I will definitely be going back and I'm sure the longer they are open the faster the process will get!! :)

The pizza was actually not bad, I enjoyed it. I'm giving this 3 stars because I broke out in hives after eating here. I only typically get hives when there is a preservative in food, and am disappointed that they don't make their dough in house.

The Fine Art of Pizza! Bello! A beautiful thin crust pie you'd find at the best pizzerias along the I-95 corridor from Philly through NYC and onto Boston. An OCD perfect blend of sauce, cheese and the freshest ingredients...atop a tasty hand-tossed dough. Design your own or select from a hand-full of specialty pies. The small is a medium, the medium a large (yeah, they're a bit size-challenged in the kitchen). This is the first fixed location for this team of aficionados who launched a successful food truck business. Next to Amerigo. Seating for eighteen (18) and take-out. Delivery forthcoming, when they find a talented driver. Look forward to weekend breakfast pizza in the coming weeks. Cielo (Heaven)!

There's not much that I can say about this place that hasn't already been said, so I'll keep it short and sweet: This is the best pizza I've ever had in my life! These folks have raised the bar for all the other pizza joints and for my homemade pizzas. Fresh ingredients, quality cheese, creative toppings, huge slices, perfectly crispy crust, all make for a perfect pizza! Try it! You won't be disappointed!

I absolutely adored the calzone I got from here. If I lived in Memphis, I'd be here all the time. Very affordable, nice staff, excellent food.

  • Steven M.

I've got the pizza by the slice here a few times, while it it usually good, yesterday I decided to get a calzone. Which was a excellent choice. It was a huge calzone filled with my liking of mozzarella, spinach, black olives and feta. They made it to perfection. Their fresh ingredients along with the perfect cooking of the calzone crust made it a very nice meal. They serve it with sauce on the inside, and an extra side of sauce, which I enjoyed because I like it saucy. Not to mention you can get the calzone at a reasonable price, unlike some places I've been. Overall great place, with great pizza.

Great pizza and a decent price. We have been there 2 times so far, the first time I got the Cheese slice and my boyfriend got the Grandmother sub sandwich, the only issue with the sandwich was the very large meatballs, while Delicious were a little large for a sandwich. The second time we went we brought an out of town guest and tried their special pizza with spinach and tomatoes, it was very good! My boyfriend got the sausage slices this time and he really enjoyed them.

I purchased a $6 piece of pepperoni pizza from their TRuck vendor at Tennessee Untapped. It could have been one of the worst pieces of pizza I've had in a long time. Oily, super soggy, no structure, had to eat it with a fork and knife. Not impressive. I've only had one experience w/ this place as info, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt that their pizza is actually not that bad and give a 2 star.

Extremely huge slices, and pretty good pie. We arrived at the end of the lunch period, so the selection wasn't great, but they were just putting in a pizzeria for slices, so I got to choose what was on it. I ordered the Ol' Smokey Pie with BBQ Chicken and my wife had the Spinach/Chicken/Bacon and tomato with white sauce. Very tasty.

Love this pizza. I grew up in NJ and worked in NYC for 15 years, so when I came to Memphis I was a little wary of pizza. But this place has own me over. Great thin but not soggy crust and very fresh toppings. I love the slice and salad special - you can add an excellent Greek, Caesar or house salad to your slice. Slices are huge here, so one slice is a meal!

The place is small, but worth the visit. Service is inconsistent, but it's the pizza that makes the experience. I will copy a family approach when eating there: get a slice as an "appetizer" while the pie of your choice cooks. Their ingredients are top notch, and the dough is the star. It holds up nicely. If you're getting the pizza to go, it's a cinch zipping in and out. I must say its a big pie of goodness.

My wife & I went out for a date night since all the big restaurants were packed for valentines day. We stopped here.... BOY were we blow away by the taste of this pizza. Hot, fresh, crisp crust and good service if u can get a seat. It's a rather small place that has some great pizza. We will be back!!!

Everyone I know is raving about Rock 'n Dough, so I was excited to try it. I walked inside around 4:45pm and was immediately confused about where to go. There were tables (with a waitress at one), a counter with a register (and someone waiting there), and some kind of divider counter in front of the kitchen, but nothing indicating where to order, wait to be seated, etc. The waitress came over behind the register, helped the lady in front of me, and then I stepped up and asked for a slice and a drink. She pointed vaguely to where the slices were displayed, rang me up, and then provided no direction about where to get my drink. I actually asked her if, since I wanted to sit outside, I should just head out, and she said yes, so out I went (no drink offered -- fountain, bottled, what exactly?). A guy turned up a few minutes later with my slice, and I asked after my drink, only to be told to grab something from the cooler inside. He then inquired if I had been there before, and when I said no, he remarked that they were short-staffed at the moment. No, really?? The pizza itself was fine. It was just like every other slice I've ever had at any number of Chicago hole in the wall spots. Big, greasy, crispy...but nothing special. Certainly not the mind-blowing experience I had been led to believe! There were no extra napkins in evidence (I'd been handed a set of silverware wrapped in a napkin at the register), so I gave up eating it the right way and used a fork and knife. Overall, I was disappointed. The food was average and the service was below average. For me, that doesn't add up to a return visit.

I had the margherita pizza here today. It was delicious. I got the one slice and salad deal. Came to about $9 with tax. The pizza slices are huge as everyone has stated. The staff was friendly and service was quick. The pizza crust was crsipy throughout the whole slice, which is my major complaint about most pizza places if the crust gets soggy towards to center. The only reason I didnt give 4 stars is that the pizza wasnt hot and had obviously been sittin in the display for a bit. With that being said, I went there at 3pm and you can't really expect them to have right out of the oven temperatures every minute they are open. I am definitely going to order a whole pizza from there in the near future though.

The best pizza I've ever had, Easily the best pizza place in Memphis. The freshest ingredients and the BIGGEST slices. The large wasn't just big, it was L A R G E! Me and my daughters favorite pizza place. The staff is always super friendly also.

The food tastes great - but they think that everyone wants onion on their food. I would love to have a slice of several of their pizzas when we go for lunch - but looks like I will need to get a whole pizza. The chicken sandwich with truffle mayo is awesome (hold the onions...) Price is a bit higher than "pizza joint" but worth the money... since it is definitely not a "pizza join" - very gourmet with their unique flavors.

My best friend, myself and my two year old daughter came in on a Saturday around 1. It is a small restaurant and the seating was limited but we had somewhere to sit and did not feel crowded. We ordered a medium pizza half cheese half carnivore and a large Caesar salad. The wait time was not excessive I want to say about 15/20 Minutes but we hardly noticed bc we got our salad which was delicious. The dressing was different but I enjoyed it. The pizza was amazing! Loved the sauce, cheese and crust! I love pizza and I'm super picky about it. I really enjoyed my visit and will definitely be back.

Wood-fired pizza by the slice from a food truck! Delish, cheesy, cheesy, cheesy, and piping hot! Only $2 for a cheese slice, $3 for a pepperoni... I'd gladly pay a dollar or two more for what I had! My only complaint would be that the thin crust was made too thin and holes started to form from below while eating the slice... but flavor wise, the sauce, cheese, and dough were all on point!

Very good pizza... May be my favorite in Memphis. They started as a food truck and have morphed into a very good, which will be a long stay establishment. They have a very nice staff and all of the ingredients are super fresh! Anything they have is good but I highly recommend the margarita pizza (for a light option) or the carnivore for meat lovers...they are both great. The place is small but wonderful for take out and they have plans to open more locations!

Top 3 pizza in Memphis. Just be warned that the restaurant is extremely small with limited seating, so you might be waiting to get a seat. Huge plus that they sell by the slice too!

  • Jimmy H.

I love this place. The owner is a super cool guy and his brother, wife, and mother all help. The slices are huge and they are always ready to go with pizza by the slice or order a whole pizza. This is true sicilian pizza and the owner learned how to make them in New York or New Jersey. He also has a wood fired food truck that is incredible if you see them out and about. I could eat this pizza every day and never get tired of it. Absolutely fantastic.

Overall, I think Rock n Dough makes a great pizza. I recommend this place to anyone that loves fresh ingredients on their pie. This is a review to highlight the current level of service. I have been to Rock n Dough at least 10 times since they opened. I have waited 30 minutes at home and 30 minutes at the restaurant for my to go order because they told me they never received it. I never received an offer for even a glass of water while I waited. I didn't expect a discount on my next pizza but it would have been a nice gesture. Another time I placed a pick up order they put meat on both sides of the pizza when I requested only half. I waited again for them to fix the pizza. And the next time the pizza just tasted a little different than the time before. They put more of some of the ingredients than the previous visit. My Advice: improve consistency before you decide to open your second location. This will help you maintain your regular customers.

Man this place is great, the staff was certain helpful and friendly, food took a little long to come out but when it got there it was worth it. Definitely recommend the Caesar salad that they have, different, yet flavorful. We tried the garlic bread pizza and the farmers market pizza, garlic bread pizza was verrrryy greasy but it was delicious and the lemon cuts the garlicky taste well. Definite place to frequent. Price is ok around 20 bucks for a large but once you see the size slice they give you, it makes it worth it

Yum! Finally found some pizza in Memphis that can battle with the best of NYC pizzas. Rock n dough took over the old YoLo storefront on Ridgeway Road. We order the pizza to go, probably the best way to do it since the restaurant is small. We half and half-ed a large pizza (which is more than enough for two people). 1) Roasted Garlic Bread Pizza: Simple, classic, strong flavors 2) Ol' Smokey Pie: Smoked pork, bbq sauce, clinatro, ricotta, and red onion (it tastes even better than it sounds) Both were delicious...the slices were so big and so long that you have to fold into a taco like package to eat it! And the crust was thin and crispy just like all great pizza. Good to know that you can order by the slice as well if you're looking for a quick lunch.

I was expecting excellence, it was just pizza. Almost over cooked crust. It was edible, looked pretty nice, just did not impress. The slice and a salad deal is pretty good. Solid 3 stars.

Hands down my favorite pizza place in Memphis. The pizza is amazing. My favorite is the cheeseburger pizza and the margharita. The ingredients are fresh and from local vendors. The only thing I would warn against is that the restaurant is small for the amount of traffic it gets. Plan on getting there early if you want to eat there.

AWESOME!! Pie, we had a veggie pie and it was made from very fresh ingredients, crust was very good, overall it tasted amazing. The dining experience was great too. Wish we lived local as we are just passing thru town because this would definitely be one our regular go to's.

Rock'n'Dough Pizza, which has been one of my favorite Memphis food trucks, has opened a stationary restaurant in East Memphis. As much as I love catching the truck version of Rock'n'Dough at the downtown farmers market, it's nice to know that now, I can get their pizza whenever a craving strikes.* The restaurant isn't very big - there are only six tables - but it's clean and bright with lots of red paint, polished wood and chrome. You can order pizza by the slice, just like you can from the truck, or by the whole pie. Rock'n'Dough has all of the usual pizza offerings, plus a handful of speciality pies. They're working on a few menu changes, like the addition of appetizers and desserts, that will happen in the next few weeks. It's worth noting that Rock'n'Dough has not one, but two vegan cheese options, as well as a vegan version of their red sauce (which is normally made with cheese). They're also close to perfecting a gluten free version of their delicious, sturdy-but-not-chewy crust. I ordered a small, whole Fun Guy Pie, which comes with fontina cheese and slices of white and portobello mushrooms ($17). When it came to the table, I was a little shocked. I expect a small pizza to be about 10 inches, a size that's sharable for two not very hungry people or just right for one normally hungry person. This thing, however, was massive. Like, Papa John's large pizza massive. Based on its girth and quality, paying $17 for it is incredibly reasonable. The pizza was like a movie pizza. The cheese pulled between slices like hot strings, the mushrooms were thick sliced and not at all overcooked, and the slightly sweet tomato sauce had plenty of thyme. Since the pizza was so huge, I took quite a bit of it home. I'm pleased to report that it's just as delicious cold as it is hot (which is the mark of a truly wonderful pizza). Rock'n'Dough Pizza's standing location is open daily for lunch and dinner. If you're near Rock'n'Dough during lunch, they've got a salad-and-slice deal that starts at $6 for a cheese slice and goes to $8 for a slice with more than one topping. *Rock'n'Dough is still planning to operate their truck, even during times when the restaurant is open.

If you are a fan of New York style pizza (like any of the unrelated Famous Ray's in New York) then you will love this place. As far as I am aware this is the only place to get a slice of authentic New York style pizza in the city of Memphis. Perfectly thin, just the right amount of sauce and cheese...I could have almost closed my eyes and imagined myself in Manhattan. Better still its right around the corner from my office. Keep up the good work Rock n Dough! Maybe consider opening a midtown location at some point.

My very first visit and very disappointing. Heard numerous good reviews about this place and I had to try it out.. Way to greasy and it didn't taste very good.. Crust of pizza Was soaked in the pesto sauce.. Maybe I got the wrong pizza that night.

Update: Folks have commented on the fact that, at Rock 'n' Dough, the "small" is really a medium, the "medium" is really a large, and so on. Given the fact that RnD pies are not cheap, I thought that was a nice perk. Unfortunately, as of a couple of weeks ago, the medium really is a medium, and I assume the other sizes are commensurate with the medium's downsizing. I am, therefore, dropping my overall rating from 5 to 4 stars...the pizza is as yummy as ever, but I'll have to be more selective in when I want to splurge on it. ***** Quick review: - The fine folks behind the Trolley Stop pizza - Pizza just as tasty as at original location - Vegan Pie = awesome - Full menu arrives later in the week of 2/4/13 - Not much space for dining in, but takeout is available and delivery is coming soon - It's less than 10 minutes from our house, so we may end up "froke" (fat + broke) EDIT 2/15/13: I can now also vouch for the deliciousness of non-vegan options as well. I picked up a "salad and slice" lunch special on the way back from the Y this past Tuesday (salad = Caesar; slice = sausage, cheese, bell peppers of various colors) and enjoyed it immensely.

While typically not a 'cheese pizza' kind of girl, I LOVE their slice of cheese. There are also lots of other options, mushroom, cheeseburger, white pizza, etc, etc... And they typically have 4 or 5 pizzas for slices. Also, the salads are fresh! Not a huge dining area but there is also some outdoor seating.

Huge slices!!!!(about the size of a whole small from other chains) Very friendly family owned place. Jeremy really does know how to make a pizza. Cold or warm the pizza was delicious. I'm more for thin papery crust(memphis pizza cafe, totinos even... yeah yeah kill me) but the crust has a nice crunch to it, and chewy. What's better is the interesting combination of toppings, and of course I forgot the quality. Hoping to try the one with squash and a cold one when they get their license :)

Went back to try this place again... Even worse the 2nd time. We ended up throwing away half a pizza. Who THROWS AWAY pizza? I mean, it would have to be pretty TERRIBLE, right? So, there you have it. This pizza is garbage, and I won't be back a third time.

Great pizza, friendly staff. Restaurant is a little on the small size. We ordered the ol smokey pizza to-go and the wait wasn't too bad for a Saturday night. I would order their pizza again and get it to go. I don't want to sit in a restaurant where I can smell the perfume of the woman at the table next to me...

New transplant to Memphis and using YELP to see what's close by my home. Ventured out for pizza and found this place. The dining room setup is a little confusing: to order slices move to the left, to order whole pies move to the right. The pizza by the slice is housed in a big display and there were 5 different types from which to choose. I chose a pepperoni slice fresh out the oven and a Caesar side salad. The pepperoni was plentiful and they top it with a sprinkle of dried Italian herbs, it looked like. The Caesar side salad was fresh and fabulous. The honey mustard dressing was very good especially since I do not care for honey mustard and was not expecting it on a Caesar salad. It was made with a coarse ground mustard that gave it a nice edge. The staff were friendly, the inside dining area was small, the outside dining area was nice, the food was great. I'll definitely return.

Yes the pizza is awesome!!! I love the thin crust and the fresh ingredients. My son and I went to check out this place because it was the boys night out, a little bonding. Anyway we ordered a large half and half. My son wanted a margherita and I ordered a meat lovers. It took us awhile to order because there were only 2 waitress in the whole place and it was getting crowded from the patio to inside. Well when we finally got our food, the hype was CORRECT. The pizza tasted great. The crust, sauce, cheese, and the ingredients were like the Boston Symphony Orchestra in mouth. It was harmonious, in another word it was delicious. It almost made up for the slow service. As for the service, it was non existent. It is not the staff's fault. They just need to be better trained. They have a marvelous product but it is only good for TAKE OUT or DELiVERY. If they are going to have a restaurant, drinks should come from a soda fountain instead of a can and draft beer vice bottles. Take notes from "Three Guys and a Pizza". This place could have easily gotten a 4 stars but they have to improve how they do their business. Yes, I will definitely buy the pizza again but it will only be a "take out" until they fix the kinks.

I have only had one item: the breakfast pizza on a hot Saturday morning this past summer at the Farmer's Market. The pizza was quite good. Topped with tomatoes, eggs, bacon and spices, it was an excellent addition to the Memphis food truck scene. I will review again when I am able to eat a second time, I am hoping to run into it again.

I am in love with their pizza. My boyfriend is a pretty big fan too and he seldom likes the same weird things I get on my pizza. We had a bad time with service the first time we went, but they were apologetic and corrected the problem. We got a large I think and the size of this pizza blew us away. Its not your typical large pizza...we had leftovers. It is a really small place and they are popular so would I recommend getting it to-go as it gets pretty cramped.

My fellow Yelpees made me have to try this place and I'm so glad I did!! Located conveniently next to Amerigos at Poplar and Ridgeway across from MUS, this family owned and operated pizza joint is SPECTACULAR! Walked in not knowing what I wanted and they were extremely helpful telling me what all the pizzas were. I went traditional with a slice of pepperoni and mushroom and adventurous (for me) and tried a slice of their Roasted Garlic Bread pizza! Both were awesome! The garlic bread pizza is served with a lemon wedge cooked on top. Squeezed it over the slice with the recommendation of the cashier, "Mom". What a treat! Their pepperoni was great too! The sauce was very tasty and just the right amount of spice! Both slices were huge!!!! Easily the size of two slices from Milanos who I thought had huge slices! A multi topping slice is $5.50 which is very fair! Found out on my way out that they deliver within a 3 mile radius for FREE! She just said to tip the driver which I would do of course! Love this place and will definitely be back multiple times!!!

I have been to Rock 'n' Dough once. It was good, but not great. It may have been over-hyped for me. Months prior to trying it, I had heard nothing but amazing reviews whether it be from friends or from Chris Vernon on The Chris Vernon Show. The pizza is good but it's not as amazing as what I was expecting. Tasty pizza. Huge size. Okay beer selection. Much respect from turning a food truck into a successful restaurant.

  • Ashley D.

They live up to their name-- the dough is great! The pizzas are huge and not exactly cheap, so I'd recommend splitting one if you are going with friends. They also sell pizza by the slice, so that's a good option as well. My boyfriend and I each got a fill pizza and it fed us all weekend!

  • Lauren R.

Absolutely my favorite pizza place in town. Fresh ingredients, great crust...I love the margharita pizza and making my own custom order. If you're ordering on the weekend, call early because there is typically a bit of a wait (worth it).

This pizza is magic. Fresh ingredients make your mouth dance with delight. Stars shoot by as you chew. I think about it every day. The crust is good; the cheese is good; the sauces and toppings are good. It makes the world a better place like some extraordinary wonder state of culinary nirvana.

This is really great pizza. Big New York style slices. Tasty regular combinations along with some unique style pizza. I usually go for the feta and spinach on white sauce, delicious. I was wary at first to try this place due to the bad service reviews but I have been here several times with no problems at all.

I wish I could rate this place 6 stars! I've only been in East Memphis for about a year but in my opinion this is the best pizza in the area. I LOVE places where you can get pizza by the slice in just a few minutes, or order a whole pizza and sit down and eat. The place: The inside is a little small, so don't bring a large party here. There is some good outdoor seating for when the weather is nice. Take out is quick and easy. The staff: The staff is young, friendly and energetic, giving the restaurant a great atmosphere. The price: So cheap for the amount of food you get. Some of the slices you get you can't even hold in one hand they're so big. The pizza: AMAZING. You'd think that quality would be sacrificed for quantity. Nope. Not at all. The crust and sauces are fantastic. The variety of slices they have ready to order by the slice is great. Every time I've been in there they've had at least 5 different varieties ready and more on the way. Cheese, pepperoni, garlic bread pizza, cheeseburger, chicken bacon mushroom, and the list goes on. The bacon: A lot of pizza places that put bacon on their pizzas use crappy store-bought pre-packaged bacon bits. Not here. I'm not sure what kind of bacon they use, but it is thick and delicious, big slices and chunks of bacon and not little chopped up grounds. This is a true test of quality.

Stopped in for lunch and had a slice of Margarita pizza and a Caesar salad, both were delicious. The slice was huge, the crust (cooked in a brick oven) was perfectly crunchy. The tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil were all very fresh and yummy.

As a former food trucker, Jeremy Denno came to the scene at a perfect time for authentic New York-Style pizza. His pies are MONEY! His secret dough recipe (Top Secret) has the right chew, the toppings are fresh, and you can FOLD it! There is a huge trend of pizza spots popping up in Memphis, and Jeremy deserves much praise for his dedication upgrading from food truck to brick-and-mortar. Kudos, Jeremy, to your success. See you soon. Barrett

  • Sharon M.

HUGE slices! I am so glad that we found this place! The dough is the key - light yet firm, and delicious ... unlike so many that taste like cardboard. The ingredients taste totally fresh, and I understand that they use local farms, and you can really tell. We ordered a large, and it was more than an XL at other pizza parlors, but having the leftovers was dreamy. Definitely a great addition to our pizza choices!

  • Magen H.

This is the best made fresh pizza you will ever eat. You can get specialty pizzas as well as create your own. They also sell some pies by the slice. They have a single slice with a salad combo for a really decent price. And if you see the size of the "slices" they are about the size of a small pizza from any chain place. These people know what they are doing that's for sure. I recommend this to anyone and everyone who likes pizza. They even have vegan friendly choices so there are no excuses lol.

There's nothing I enjoy more than a delicious slice of pizza, and Rock 'n' Dough has one of the best. I visited their new restaurant yesterday for lunch, and was extremely satisfied with it. I ordered a standard cheese slice, which was the equivalent to two or three normal slices of pizza. Huge slices of pizza!! The crust is crispy and delicious and the cheesy goodness on top made me want to go back for dinner. I didn't, but really could have. My date ordered pepperoni and mushroom pizza and loved it as well. We both got Caesar side salads, that had fresh greens, bacon, croutons and a tangy Caesar dressing. My only reservation was that there isn't too much seating and by the time we got there, and there wasn't a ton of pizza selection. We did go around 1 p.m. though. I'm assuming the lunch crowd put a dent in the pies before we got there. Overall, the food was delicious, the service was great and I can't wait to go back! I have my eye on a few different slices and sandwiches I want to try, and I can't wait!

Great pizza, great sandwiches, great salads, and some of the nicest employees in town. HUGE slices or you can order a whole pie. The Roasted Garlic Bread pizza is great as well as the Ham'mer grinder. I plan on making this one of my regular stops! And they toss the pizza dough - so it's dinner and a show! 10/03/2014. Chocolate chip cookie.....outstanding!

Really great new York style pizza! I had the Mushroom spinach and goat cheese one and I loved it! Eat it quick if you I like hot pizza. The slices are huge! thin and crispy crust! Ate one and was full. Bought two slices so I can just taste the Margarita pizza but it wasn't as good as the goat cheese one. Gave it to mom and she loved it. Lol! Will be back!

One of the best pizzas I have eaten in a long time. It's not spacey place and after eating there I think the idea was designed for people to order and go. There are pre-cooked slices that are HUGE and I would suggest getting one as an appetizer if you haven't been there, we did the BBQ slice.... Great! The problem we had was sizing a pizza for two. We made the mistake if comparing sizes to Exline, Papa Johns, Pizza Hut, Mellow Mushroom and Wise Guys, don't do that! A small is close to the medium size of each of these pizza places. To help, the box sizes are on the wall. The staff was very friendly, it was not busy when we went only two people there when we arrived. I mentioned this because when a place is busy attitudes change. The menu my confuse you but you will get what you want. They make the pie behind the open counter, you see everything and it don't take long. We were amazed at the size of the pizza when it was served....HUGE! (We ordered a large) The ingredients were fresh, dough was the BOMB! One slice was the max we could eat. The server have us suggestions on reheating. We did reheat a few slices about four hours later and the following morning and they were just as good as they were when served at the restaurant, the crust was still crispy the following morning. I will visit this place again.

Loved this pizza! This was our first visit. I've had a lot of pizza over the years and this one rates right at the top. There was a couple visiting from NY sitting next to us. They said, being from the east coast where pizza is holy grail, this place gets a thumbs up. The crust was perfect (thin and nicely browned, not overwhelming) and there is a nice ratio of red tomato sauce to cheese and toppings. The restaurant is small but there are additional tables outside which was our choice on a nice evening. Service good. We got two (huge) XL pizzas, an Ultimate Veggie and a Market Pie. We had plenty to take home and enjoy the next day.

This is probably my favorite pizza place in town. The slices are huge and the dough and sauce taste wonderful. They have several pizzas ready to sell by the slice, but they have a menu that you can also order off of. The prices are a steal, you really do get your money's worth here. I've branched out a few times and tried their grinders, and they are all great, but especially their BLTA. Everything tastes so fresh, but the bacon is thick and is chopped perfectly. There are a few cons though. The place is small, so if you're planning a large group outing, you will want to go somewhere else. The staff is very friendly, but it seems like they are still trying to get an organized system. But the pizza more than makes up for any cons.

Hands down the best pizza in Memphis. I admit I was a little skeptical after hearing about the place in the radio. This spot is the real deal. Fresh ingredients and awesome taste. I got the large cheeseburger pizza and took it home. It was bigger than my stove and better than anything I have ever had here in Memphis. A definite must try and a Memphis original

This restaurant will deliver during lunch for office parties. Super fresh ingredients and you can tell everything is made in house, from the dough, the sauce, and the salad dressings. This place gets super crowed so either go early or or order out.

What can I say but best dough in town. Cruchy on the outside and super light and airy on the inside. We have been several times and will continue to go back even with the multitude of pizza joints very nearby. We have enjoyed their signature pizza and even thier build your own. Everything is very fresh and delicious. Only problem we have been there when they run out of dough.

I've had pizza from Rock 'n' Dough Pizza's food truck and now have visited their restaurant. It has consistently been the best pizza I've found in Memphis with a friendly wait staff.

The hunt for good pizza requires perseverance. The best we could find before we stumbled upon this amazing food truck was Mellow Mushroom. Needless to say Rock n Dough easily reigns supreme. Their new restaurant extends their amazing pizza to a store front. I feel bad for Amerigo, as their pizza cannot compare and they are literally right next door. While the toppings are all fresh and delicious, the crust makes this pizza! Thank you guys for opening a store front. Can't wait to try all of the pies.

Just had to try this place out since I am a huge fan. I have had their pizza out of the food truck before, so I decided to try a Grinder. Like the everything else at RDPC, the sandwich was big compared to other restaurants. I got the Fire-starter and was surprised by the amount of chicken they put on the sandwich. Definitely worth the price. This is becoming my new go-to place for lunch and take home dinner.

Great pizza! Huge slices of pie made with quality ingredients! Too bad the wood fire oven isn't used in the restaurant like their food truck. Overall, I highly recommend!

This is my favorite pizza style (New York) and they do it better than anyone else. The dough is very crispy on the bottom but still has a little chew to it. The toppings are fresh and cheese is excellent. Their place IS small but the staff is really friendly and helpful. The small is definitely a medium and easily enough for two...although I did my best to make it a one person! I love independent pizza joints and Rock 'n' Dough ranks up there with the best I have had...anywhere. Great job guys!

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
