I got here around 5 this past Friday. It was pretty dead but people trickled in during the two hours while I was there. I came here to meet up with some friends for Happy Hour. I was not too impressed with the options though and since my friends are Vegetarian there weren't many options for snacks that they could eat. But the guy who picked it had been so apparently they like the beer selection. I tried the Grilled Chicken and Pineapple Kabob Snack while I waited and surprisingly loved it. I would totally get that again (though maybe not the side piece of lettuce and tomato... what was up with that?). I wasn't impressed with the chicken options for sandwiches but I can't knock it til I try it so I will reserve judgement on it. But what really surprised me was how inattentive our waiter was. It took us a long time to get his attention and he came back only a few times. I guess it makes sense because they looked like they were busy prepping for dinner service that night. When my friends got there they got 2-for-1 Beers and Nachos without meat and Sweet Potato Fries. The Nachos were awesome and we got the salsa on the side to dip in. We ate them up. I might even prefer them without meat since I'm not too fond of ground beef. The fries were waffle style and came with a sauce as well as ketchup. I preferred the ketchup to the sauce. All in all it was a fun night. Loved: - Grilled Chicken and Pineapple Kabob Snack - Low Fat Huey Burger - Malibu Rum with pineapple - Nachos (without meat) Ok: - Sweet Potato Fries

This was my first time to Huey's, ever. I went with a few friends. When I got there, it wasn't very busy, it was very quaint. I don't like loud, crowded places, so I thought it was perfect. Its a kinda dingy looking I will say. But anyway, on to the food. I had the bluff city burger, well done, and all the condiments that were supposed to come on it. It took about 30 minutes to get our food. The burger wasn't correct, but I dealt with it. It definitely wasn't the best burger I've had. But it wasn't the worst. The best part of dinner was the sweet potato waffle fries. They are bomb! And the waitress wasn't the best. Wasn't timely on refilling our drinks or checking on us. She gave us our checks, then proceeded to come back and tell us she needed our receipts, that she was leaving. Rude! I will probably never return to Huey's. There are better places around to get burgers.

Four stars because the burgers were good and the bread was, too. A fifth star for the awesome onion straws! Minus one for the horrid soup hailed as homemade and another for the varmint the staff searched for while we ate and watched! Waitstaff was friendly and prompt; atmosphere was pleasant; and, hours allowed for late night snacking.

Not as good as Huey's Southaven, but good nonetheless. Food just as good. Just used to our waitresses in Southaven who know us by name. That being said, nothing against the waitresses here. Thank you!

Love this place. Wings are great as well as the burgers. Nice quiet laid back atmosphere. Great location being that it's around the corner from my residence.

Huey's is probably one of my favorite spots in Memphis. It's conveniently located near my job so I just walk there during my lunch. Friendly staff and the food is awesome. It's a traditional American bar and restaurant and they're well known for their burgers. I'm pretty old fashioned so my favorite is the classic Huey burger and I get it almost every time I go there. I've also tried their wings, shrimp baskets and the steak on a stick. All of them have been amazing. So with good food and comfortable atmosphere I would definitely recommend this place for families and also business people who needs a quick bite but need to take a small break from the daily grind.

Huey's... I love you so... My love affair began at the Appletree location. As an young Parkway Village kid we were pumped when we got a new Malco on Ridgeway and Mt. Moriah. We stumbled into that restaurant before a movie one night and things have never been the same. It became our place. You could find us here weekly if not more often. Times have changed and so as it goes, areas change and Appletree is long gone and now houses some paycheck loan places and a Wal Mart for your shopping pleasure. Believe it or not, I didn't even try a burger for many years at Huey's. In fact I am pretty sure I didn't have one at all at the AT location. I was hooked on my old go to, "Wings and a Steak Stick Snack". Every single visit was this for a very long time. Eventually everyone gets burnt out and has to try something different and I have enjoyed every single item but I still dream about the wings... They are just perfect, whole wings, fried, sauced, and then fried again... (I assume this because of texture, I could be wrong) I guess I have been to every location over the years and while every experience hasn't been 4 stars I must say that overall they deserve it. I have even spent a New Years Eve at a Huey's. (I don't remember much of it) It is hard to remember the differences of the stores as I write this but I think that is a good thing. Thank you Thomas for all of the great meals and good times! Thanks to the rest of the family for keeping it great since he has been gone! Bravo! See you soon!

A lot of people, including some of my closest good friends like to come to this place of a "good" burger , I still don't get it. I find this burgers greasy and with nothing so special to offer. This was my third attempt to like them. I ordered the trio of sliders, and I Was not impressed by any of those three little things. My kids that are good eater were not impressed either, and also my husband ended up just satisfied, but nothing that would make us come back soon. Service was slow, but friendly . Not a dean, dean place, but I've seen worse . I guess I'll just have to respect the others and just come again only if I can't get out of it.

I can't remember why we decided to go to Huey's. I think I said something about wanting a burger and my friend said that this place is great except for the toothpicks that people spit in to the ceiling. We almost didn't come here because the idea of that is gross. Thank goodness we came. Goddamn, the chili fries. GODDAMN. I ordered the miner trio (3 sliders with different toppings on each). Pretty good but the fries. SO GOOD. Good service too. The waitress was always around with refills and making sure we enjoyed our food. I don't know if the friendly chatting is part and parcel for the area but it was nice. I'm Canadian and we're nice but we're not good with the friendly chatter sometimes. I don't know if I would consider this the best environment for a business lunch but there was a tableful of business men seated near us and they seemed happy enough.

This location served me the best Huey's burger ever! I could taste every different aspect of the sunshine burger- the cooked mushrooms, the fried egg, and the burger was seasoned to perfection. My date really enjoyed his tuna steak sandwich also. Thanks Huey's!

We were going to go to Logan's but opted for Huey's due to the long wait time. Thank GOD! The food was great. The atmosphere was great! It was a good place for family, and we enjoyed trying to peg those dang toothpicks on the ceiling. (Ask about that when you get there.)

Wow glad I stumbled upon this place. After having to walk out of Wing stop and another stir fry spot because of poor or no service, I was about to give up on Memphis. The fried pickles were good not salty at all, which is usually the case with fried pickles. The wings were just like I like em. Crisp outer and dipped in the sauce. They are whole wings as well, and I actually couldn't finish two of them. Lot of food! I may check then out again before I leave, as that pecan brownie a la mode looks really good! Service was good. Was kinda on the fence about my waitress at first but she became warmer as I ate my meal.

Talk about consistency, this local chain rocks! I've never had a bad meal in a Huey's and this one was no exception. There Deluxe Grilled Chicken sandwich is the best in Memphis. Burgers are great as welll. Nice selection of beer and wine at various price points. When you want something to eat but don't know where you want to go, GO HERE!

I love this place. While commoners flood the light-up-wait-time-coaster lines at hostess stands at chain restaurants throughout Southwind, the tried-and-true Memphians go to Huey's for some real food. The atmosphere here is casual, with red checkered tablecloths, plastic cups, and paper napkins (but only when your food is coming out). Steak fries can be a little mushola, but the reuben is great, the tossed salad with a turkey burger patty on top is my favorite lunch. Tell them to ring it up as "extra patty" and save yourself a couple bucks on the price of a full hamburger. Kids meals come with drinks and (optional) ice cream, and a choice of french fries or applesauce as a side dish. Live music late night on weekends keeps things feeling "local". This is a Memphis tradition, so bring your out-of-town guests here for a casual meal, and make sure to bring a Sharpie and have them sign the graffiti wall, or shoot a couple toothpicks into the ceiling with a dry straw. I recommend: loaded cheese fries with jalapenos and ranch.

I'm a little torn on this location. I love Huey's and I have ventured into this location twice now. The first time it was about 3 pm on a Tuesday and the second was for a late dinner on a Saturday night. My first experience was wonderful. The bartender, Brian, was excellent. There was not much of a crowd, and it was such a nice place to grab a beer with a friend. My second experience was interesting to say the least. I once again sat at the bar, but it was jammed packed inside. It was extremely loud and seemed to get unruly as the night went on. The food was great and so was the staff. My only complaint is the later it got, the more uncomfortable I became. I will still go here for afternoon beers and enjoy a nice lunch. Try the Tuna Steak Salad! It's wonderful! :)

Recently visited this location and although I have previously had good experiences, I was disappointed with the most recent visit. The service was underwhelming. Our waitress interrupted our conversation several times, never introduced herself, and gave us another table's bill. I like to support local establishments, but I won't be returning to this location anytime soon considering there are better places to get a burger in Memphis. The two-star rating is a "benefit of the doubt" rating based on previous visits.

I mean, it's Huey's. You know what your getting before you even walk in. Nothing special, service is always okay, food is okay, atmosphere is okay. Good spot for a burger. I really like their tomato basil vinaigrette salad dressing, goes great on the spinach salad.

The chicken & pineapple skewers with sweet potato fries has been my fav...until today. I received scraps for fries and the skewers were not up to the usual standards. I was so disappointed in my food today. It will be a while before I go back. This was a carry out order. If I had dined in I would've sent it all back.

I went in about 6 for a quick bite and a few beers. The crowd was definitely older and the bar top was full but there were tables available. Beer was 241 during happy hour which was nice a service was great. I had the Cuban sandwich and it was very good.

Monte Cristo, Voodoo Salmon, Oysters Bienville and Oysters Rockefeller, Cajun Turkey Wrap, Shrimp and Grits, Steak- Everything I have ever ate here was awesome! Plus in college the kitchen was probably the only one in town that stayed open late.

Here with three colleagues from outside US. Good choice for burgers cooked to order. Gazillion varieties. Many brewskies on tap to choose from, including a fine pale ale and Guinness. Good values too. Would recommend based on quality of burgers. Would choose over a corner bar and grill. Small Gripe: what's with the loud music...too loud for casual conversation. If you haven't been to Huey's, you've probably not been to Memphis. Huey's is known for their burgers. They also have a full bar. I didn't partake this particular visit. People blow toothpicks from their straws getting them stuck on the ceiling. People also write on the walls. It's all part of the charm. I had a side of fries. Personally, steak fries are my least favorite type of fry. Who wants a fry where you can taste the potato? I'm not sure if I'm being sarcastic or not. I had the Bluez 57 burger. It has, of course, my favorite cheese: blue! It is also topped with fried onion straws and Heinz 57 sauce. I decided to mix it up and have it as a black bean burger. I love a good black bean burger, and this one did not disappoint. I also at the recommendation of Paul Ryburn add bacon. It was a great sandwich, a perfect combination. Of course, I'll go back. It's a Memphis tradition.

Ok, I'm a die-hard Huey's fan from the original mid-town store, but this location needs tweaking. It looks like Huey's from the inside, but the food didn't pass the real test, the taste test. Burger cooked perfectly done at medium, so the issue is the seasoning. The burger was tasteless meat when it should be the star. No salt or flavoring was added, yet the sell the seasonings in the store. It was the same for my mate, so it happened to 2 burgers. Gotta season them to get the "Huey's" spin on them. Was disappointed as I talked them up to my mate for years, came back to to town and should have taken him to the Madison store instead but was staying closer to this location. Lesson learned! Breaks my heart. Manager, please teach the kitchen by sending them to work at the original or uptown Poplar location before it effects sales.

I think Huey's is a bit over hyped as the best burger, but their blues 57 is pretty good, and so,stiles you just want a good bar burger that won't break the bank. Wish they would fix their booths as the cushions are all broken an uncomfortable. But if you want a burger and fries/onion rings good place to go if you don't want to spend $$$. But if you don't mind the $$$ a lot of better places in town.

Spent New Years Eve, until after midnight with great service, marvelously prepared foods, then complimentary champagne at midnight! Listened to the "Nite Life" Band, with a fabulous singer Grace? They played great groove, rock, etc. Awesome artists in that band! Thanks all for a not so quiet celebration with friends~!!

Huey's has seven restaurants in the Memphis area, and they are the long-running burger champions in this neck of the woods. Walk into Huey's and the first thing you'll notice is its dark. It's a bar with burgers. Bars should be dark. It's not pitch black, there are beer signs and TVs playing sports, and lit cigarettes, and about 50 watts of lighting. Usually, the sign at the door will tell you to seat yourself. There's an outdoor patio, but unless you're unusually lucky it will be way too cold or way too hot to sit out there. Have a seat. Look up. Yes, the ceiling is weird. It's painted black and there are hundreds of toothpicks embedded in the acoustic tiles. Why? Why not? Give a Memphian a toothpick and a straw and this is what happens; unless that Memphian inhales at which point it's a quick trip to the emergency room. When you get your burger (with toothpick) and a soft drink (beers don't come with straws), you can try for yourself. It's surprisingly difficult even for non-smokers. Though it's infrequent, do keep an eye above for falling toothpicks -- they make a nasty addition to a soup or salad. If you've sat in a booth on the wall opposite from the bar, you can write on the wall. If you're looking for a word that rhymes with "Nantucket", I recommend "bucket". What's to eat? Burgers of course. The Huey burger is just a damn fine burger -- cooked to order, with cheese and the usual condiments. Want something slightly more exotic? Go for the Senor Huey and its pepperjack cheese. Actually don't because you can't taste the pepperjack cheese and you might as well have ordered a Huey burger and saved the 30 cents. If you like spicy food, as I do, get the Texas Toast burger. Not only does it come on thick slices of Texas Toast (instead of the usual hamburger roll), but you get pepperjack cheese, grilled onion, and a liberal slathering of sliced jalapenos. OK, now we're talking. It's so good, you can even substitute a veggie burger patty for an extra 50 cents and it still tastes good. Yes, you will get fries. They're good, but nothing to write home about. They're reasonably crispy steak fries that taste better when dipped in ketchup and tabasco sauce or ranch dressing (Memphians do the damnedest things!). The onion rings are pretty good too, but they're a little greasy for my taste and the batter tends to fall off. Fried mushrooms are good, but they're $5.60 and listed as appetizers, so I feel guilty getting them with a burger. If you have no conscience, they're an excellent choice. When it comes to appetizers, get the nachos. They even make a dandy meal. Insiders know you can get them with the tortilla chips on the side if you want to keep them from getting soggy beneath all the nacho-riffic ingredients. And order extra jalapenos (they're free and oh so good). The potato soup is also pretty good if you like potato soup -- with all the choices on the menu, that has never grabbed me. Fish and chips is good if you like ordering fish where the nearest ocean is 500 miles away. Sadly, the chili is always disappointing; I have no idea why they can't make a decent bowl of chili, but they can't. There's a wide range of drinks, but you can ignore most of them. Drink a beer, or soft drink, or sweet tea. Beer is good, cold, and refreshing, but you don't get a straw to shoot toothpicks at the ceiling. Soft drinks come with free refills, and sweet tea is so sweet it makes Coca Cola taste like Perrier. You can order "half and half" tea and they'll mix unsweetened and regular iced tea to make a combination that's only twice as sweet as any tea North of I-40. There's a kids menu and it comes with little cups of ice cream for dessert. There's no ice creams for adults, so you'll have to bring a kid and steal his or hers if you want one. Oh yes, and there's live music on Sunday nights which is either very good or very bad. If it's very bad, go to the other end of the shopping center and have a burger at the Half Shell -- it's pretty good and you can dine in relative peace and quiet.
