My favorite pizza place. The atmosphere is hip and casual which I really enjoy. The street view is really pleasant as it is on the mall, across from the Peabody. I always order "by-the-slice" vodka cheese pizza and it is amazing.

It was good or a step above but not great. The place is very nicely designed and the rooftop patio is nice, however I know the mosquitoes have been bad this year but we were getting eaten alive, although the server had OFF, it didn't help the experience. Meatball sandwich...hmmm.... just that ...it was OK. The pizzas were good, but order what you want for the meal as it did not re-heat well the next day. Beer selection ...ok. All in all ...I would go back...but not top of my list!!

I have been to the downtown location of Aldo's more times than I can count, so when my fiancé and I were looking for somewhere in midtown to eat before heading to the Levitt Shell, we decided to try this location for the first time. Overall, we had a pleasant experience. It was a nice night, so we were able to sit on the rooftop. The coverings and the misters were just enough to make it a comfortable temperature. We started with our regular appetizers - the garlic knots. You can't skip these, they are SO good. I almost venture to say better than downtown. I had forgotten that the midtown location only has slices during lunch -- which was a disappointment. The fiancé and I have completely opposite pizza preferences, so it was hard to find something we would both like (particularly because they don't let you do halfsies on the specialty pizzas). But we managed and we had a ton of leftovers, so we ate pizza for days after. Overall, it was good. My biggest complaint about the experience though -- was that I wasn't able to use a gift certificate that I had gotten at the downtown location. Apparently their computer systems aren't the same. We had largely picked Aldo's because I had this gift certificate and the two of us are rarely downtown together. Instead of an inexpensive dinner (slices and a gift certificate) -- we ended up spending much more than we had planned (a whole pizza and no gift certificate). A disappointment. I'll be back (at least downtown. I have that gift certificate to use, after all) -- but when I'm in midtown, I'll probably pick somewhere else.

Hot gourmet pizza fresh ingredients tastes delicious to my tastes buds and one of their large pizzas can feed many people.

The pizza is phenomenal. Private parking. Awesome upstairs patio with newly installed mist fans. By far my preferred location :)!

Very cool place. The outdoor seating area is nice. I'm glad they opened this so I can satisfy my garlic knot craving without having to go downtown.

Heard good things about Aldo's but wasn't interested driving downtown. We chose the S. Cooper midtown location. Easy parking, safe location, relaxed atmosphere. No wait on a weeknight. Waiter was prompt, friendly and informative. Menu is exclusively pizza with some side options - but that's why it's called Aldo's Pizza Pies. We chose the White pie and a Lombardi. Two 18" pies were more than enough for three people. Waiter made an excellent red wine recommendation. The bar looked fun. Plenty of TV's for sports action. As a New Yorker with high standards for pizza, I definitely recommend this place.

Went to Aldo's for lunch today with an associate. Decided to not eat on the roof as a utility truck was working right next door to the building and it was really loud. So, we ate in. Started with the meatball appetizer. It was good - I have to say not as good as the version served at Frank Grisanti's, but good. Salads were excellent & my bleu cheese dressing was great. I had a slice of pepperoni & 1 sausage. My associate had a supreme type slice. We both liked the pizza. The sauce did taste a little twangy to us both, but overall, it was a very good experience. Can't wait to go back when I can have an adult beverage while sampling more items on the roof.

I am all about this new location in midtown because I rarely go downtown (parking is a nightmare) and I needed some good pizza in my life. And that's not all this new place has to offer... Let's see...rooftop patio? Check! Delicious pizza? Check! Awesome location? Check! Full bar (eventually...in a week or so)? Check! Unique building? Check! Easy parking? Check! My new addiction? Check!

So I tried this place today with a friend and unfortunately I was not impressed! Let's start with the positive. They have outside parking and outside seating which is great. Along with good customer service. Our waitress was great. She was polite and courteous and timely refilled our drinks. Also I really liked my Greek salad. There dressing was pretty good. Now for the negative. The pizza wasn't great. I love a good slice of pizza and that is not what I got. I ordered a slice of pepperoni and it tasted okay. Nothing special about it,plus they were really cheap with the pepperoni. I love pepperoni and they was like only 5 pieces on it. All in all, the service and salad was good, but I've had better pizza.

Giddy as hell about this place coming to the 'hood. Especially that rooftop patio, which will hopefully open soon (no thanks to the recent schizophrenic Memphis weather). Met a friend there for an early Saturday lunch. The server was lobbying HARD for the sandwiches (it was almost comical). We didn't want to disappoint him and ordered the grilled cheese panini and Figgy Piggy. I'll think twice about doubting an overly enthusiastic server again because these sandwiches were THE SHIT. Melty, crispy goodness - and mine was served with a surprisingly good apple slaw. Love their pizza but good to know the sandwiches damn-near make my toes curl. Cool space and great service to boot. What a welcome addition to Cooper Young.

I have had Aldo's pizza before but I had yet to actually eat in the restaurant at either location. I love the midtown location with the rooftop. Unfortunately there isn't much of a view but I love being able to sit outside and on the roof. I had the garlic knots for the first time. I prefer the garlic that they are swimming in to the marinara but that's my personal preference. I had the white pizza which was a garlic and oil sauce with lots of cheese including ricotta cheese. They also have plenty of local beer on tap. They were very accommodating with the service. I was early and some were late and some canceled at the last minute but it didn't cause any problems for the staff. I'll definitely go back.

My wife and I visited Aldo's while vacationing in Memphis. We had the good fortune of meeting the owner of the place and his dad. They were nice enough to show us the rooftop patio and to talk up Memphis for us. We were allowed to sample a few slices of a breakfast pizza the chef had just been working on and it was fantastic! We like the atmosphere and the service sitting at the bar was just great. We also stopped by the downtown site as well. Although we just sat for a beer, again the service was wonderful and the selection impressive . Definately worth checking out while in Memphis.

  • Brandon H.

They forgot to bring me my appetizer. The pizza came pretty slow because they had a couple large groups seated ahead of us. But I walked away more impressed than I would have been had my appetizer came on time and the pizza been quick. And it all goes back to their service. I apologize for forgetting my waiter's name, but he was second to none. None of the mistakes were his fault. And none were really that big of a deal. But what made it so impressive was that he didn't immediately defer to the blame game, he didn't throw out the "I am so mad at the kitchen line," and he didn't worry about making an excuse. Rather, he simply apologized and tried to make it up to us, though we did nothing to suggest we were looking for something like that. He offered dessert, a free beer and his effusive apology with a considerate smile. Thumbs up to your staff, Aldo's. I'll be back.

Aw, hell. I'm gonna get fat. This place is TWO MILES from my house?!?! During the soft opening, service was friendly and the place was packed. Everything you love about the downtown location, but in Midtown. Delivery coming soon. Parking in the lot is limited, but there was plenty of parking on the street immediately to the right of the restaurant. Rooftop patio WHAT?!?

  • Taylor C.

As quite a few of the reviewers have noted, the patio on the roof is a great atmosphere! It's a little small, but that is what's great. It doesn't get too loud and feel like you're at a rowdy bar. Service is great. As far as food, I would suggest sticking with the pizza. Some of the sandwiches were pretty small and weren't prepared fresh. Waiter told us that he couldn't add or take anything off of the sandwiches because they were already pre-made. Sort of a buzzkill when you are at a sit-down restaurant. The pizza is great though! I gave the location a three stars because of the just average service we received and the fact that they didn't have pizza by the slice available at the time. It would be nice to be able to grab a piece or two of pizza and a beer, so hopefully that either has happened or will happen soon. Overall, it seemed like they had some things to iron out since they recently opened. But, I will go back for the pizza, location, and atmosphere. Just stay away from the pre-made sandwiches.

Another slam dunk for Aldo!! The place has a great vibe and a cool patio. The pizza was great, Mrs. B had the Greek salad and loved it. I look forward to trying the sandwiches. A welcome addition to the growing midtown scene! :-)

Woo-Whoo! Finally open. Thank you, thank you for opening this location. My charming companion and I stopped in for dinner last night. The food and service is as good as the Downtown location. We are looking forward to walking over spring and summer evenings for a slice and hanging out on the roof-deck.

As a New Yorker, I was really worried about the pizza situation here in Memphis. Luckily, I discovered this place. Really reminds me of home. I love the slices the most; foldable and the toppings are fresh and delicious. I keep coming back and trying the slices of the day. I'm definitely taking my friends here when they visit.

I stopped in for lunch this week at the new location. We had the pleasure of 78 degree weather so we were able to sit on the rooftop patio, which was awesome. Our server was fantastic and attentive. I ordered the Figgy Piggy Panini with the apple slaw. It did NOT disappoint. Artisan bread, prosciutto, grilled pear and brie....it was amazing. My companion had the generous house salad and the meatballs and raved about them. I'm so glad to see Aldo's in Cooper Young and will definitely be returning.

Talked my coworkers into going for lunch one day and the service was the best in town. We had a blast and the pizza and salad were great! I wanna go on ladies nite next time!

We stopped at Aldo's for a quick beer and a snack to hold us over before a wedding. It was about 3:30 pm on a Saturday and I was impressed with how many people were there at an in-between hour. We had the garlic knots and took a vodka pie to go. The garlic knots were seriously good and we snacked on the pizza for the rest of the weekend. The crust is exactly how I like it- thin and chewy. And why has no one else thought to put vodka sauce on a pizza? Brilliant. I also really liked the focus on using local and house made ingredients, and of course the local beers on draught. If I had a place like this near me in Boston I would be there every day and gain at least ten pounds.

Just moved to the midtown area from Nashville. I was introduced to Aldo's through some good friends. Glad there is another location so I don't have to travel downtown to get my fix. Excellent food and service!

im so happy this place is finally open! I love aldo's pizza, and i stopped frequenting the downtown location literally only because it was a nightmare to finding parking down town. HOWEVER, 1 perk to the downtown location vs. this location is that you can bring your dog to the downtown location. i haven't asked about the dog policy in this one though, so i could be wrong! Pizza-awesome. the Side salad-awesome! It comes with PLENTIFUL of leaves (something most places dont do if you order a side salad) and gives you tons of onions! They have sammiches and other stuff on the menu, so be sure to try those out too! Service-great, friendly, efficient. We came on opening week and they were slammed but they still got us in and out with the food on the table as fast as they could! Parking-awesome. the parking lot itself is kind of tiny, but since its midtown you can park on the side streets. The rooftop patio looks AWESOME. we unfortunately weren't seated up there, but i will request it for next time! Definitely take advantage of the rooftop patio during these hot summer nights! (But dont forget to bring OFF). There are TVs there so you can watch the grizz games and other sports related things!

Really love this location! Great patio - great service - great food! Stopped in for a quick lunch; hubby and I split a Greek salad to start. He went with the Memphis, I had a slice of pepperoni, one kiddo did the vodka and one a plain cheese. Smiles all around. Loved the attention they paid to the kids as well and they loved playing with their personal dough balls xD

The best Caesar salad I've ever had! Add some protein to make it a meal, it's huge. They gave us an extra because one was too small! Lol the slices are huge! Huge sexy delicious slices. I had the daily slice "The Nick" with ham, ricotta, vodka, & green peppers. I like this location for the rooftop and you can see into the kitchen. Service is great and food is consistently delicious. A must try.

  • Lisa G.

Started out with the "garlic knot" appetizer, which came with 4 knots & tomato sauce. The knots were thick an doughy, and the sauce was a little bland. Then we ordered the T-Rex pizza. It came with Italian sausage meatballs, regular Italian sausage and pepperoni. We could only eat 1 roll and 2 slices before we were stuffed! The pizza was very delicious and recommended!

We love Aldo's pizza however, we ordered our favorite pizza on Labor Day and it was terrible. It was not cooked all the way through and I found two hairs in it which grossed me out so I could not continue to eat any more. Very disappointed.

Great service and amazing food. Whether you get a panini or pizza, you won't be disappointed! If you have the option, ask for Guto to be your server. He was so great!! Also - their patio is to die for. And cuteness alert: they give kids pizza dough to play with.
