Hidden gem in Nashville! So much variety and deliciousness! All of the sushi is fresh, creative and delicious! It is easy to flip through the picture book on every table to find which told to order. Be sure to ask for the chef's special

I am so glad I found this place! We recently moved to Hendersonville and my first worry was that they wouldn't have good Asian food. I'm glad we found this place! I've been here a few times and all their food has been great so far. Sometimes, I don't like Asian restaurants that serve different kinds of cuisine because other dishes aren't done well. This restaurant serves Japanese and Korean food. They haven't disappointed me. My fiancé always orders katsu don and he loves it. The last two things I've ordered were ramen and udon. Their ramen serving is so big! make sure to share it. I've also seen so many people I know eat at this place so I know it's good! They all say that this is their favorite and they are regulars. Love this place!

Finally got out to not only a new restaurant to try, but a new sushi restaurant! First, I will start off by saying that price wise, this restaurant is comparable to many other sushi restaurants in town. But wow, is it FRESH! I got a chirashi bowl and it was so good. The fish was all fresh and tasty and the variety of fish was insane! There was even octopus in the mix, yum! My fiancee got a couple of rolls and she really enjoyed them, but back to the chirashi. There was shrimp, crab, egg, tuna and salmon like in most typical chirashi bowls I have had elsewhere. But Sapporo goes beyond that and adds ocotpus, escolar (white tuna), roe, and I want to say red snapper (I think that is what it was) as well. So much variety in one big bowl. And oh so good. But here is the best part, it only costs about $18.00 and includes soup and salad. How can you get any better than that? Seriously? I can go to many other sushi restaurants in town and get a chirashi bowl for the same price, with soup and salad, but more often than not, it will not include all those nice extra cuts of fish and seafood. Now add some squid and scallop to this bowl and it would be heaven! I definitely plan on going back here some time soon. So good, and while not as inexpensive as say, Sonobana, you get a lot for your money here.

Great sushi and even better staff. This is my go to Sushi spot. My favorites are the 911, DGR, and the Silvera.

I would have given this place another star if only it was visibly cleaner. The sushi was very good and we will be back. The staff is very friendly and informative. One night of wiping everything down, like the drape to the kitchen from the sushi bar and other small but noticeable areas just need to be more spotless. Other than that, it was an affordable, friendly and a very good sushi restaurant. The service is very fast, a matter of minutes at the sushi bar.

This is my favorite place for Sushi. The Sushi here is always excellent. The atmosphere is comfortable and relaxed. The owner Danny and his staff our always friendly and quick to take care of you. I eat here regularly for lunch and dinner. They also serve hot dishes for those who don't like sushi which are also quite good. You can't go wrong at Sapporo.

I'm not sure what is better the food or the people that run this place. I've been several times and not once has there been any kind of problem. This is one I highly recommend.

I've eaten here dozens of times over the past 5 years and have never had a bad experience. The most comprehensive Japanese menu in the Nashville area. Their ramen is excellent.

The atmosphere is very nice and the staff is ever so friendly. I definitely love coming here with my husband whenever we are in the area. We decided to come here recently after a long week of work (and me celebrating my new recent job)...he decided to try out gyudon for the first time, and I managed to sneak a bite from him. The meat was so tasty! I also liked the seasonings as well. I decided to have 2 of my favorite sushi rolls, along with trying out their Gyoza roll. It was brought out very quickly (along with my husband's gyudon), and everything was delicious! Can't wait to come back here again!

I only tend to write reviews after I've been to a place a lot of times, and considering I've topped 20 some odd check ins, and those are just the times I remember to check in. I can say, after eating at most of the so called best sushi bars in town, Sapporo is, by far the best, and I recommend it very highly. First, the service is amazing. Not just the wait staff but the chefs, they are all kind and courteous. The chefs work fast, but the food is consistently great and fresh. Now, the food. They have great miso soup and the agadashi tofu is so yummy! But let's get to the rolls. They are not tiny little smidgins of rice with little to nothing inside like some sushi bars in this same area *cough* Arigato *cough*, but nice perfectly sized rolls of the freshest sushi not only in the north Nashville area, but I dare say in all of Nashville. Great location, good parking, I wish they were open on Sunday's, but they need their rest to make all the best sushi. Keep up the good work, guys! We all love you here. Please say you'll stay forever? Seriously, though, this place is worth anything you have to go through to get here!

I absolutely love the food here. Everything from the sushi, to bibimbap, to ramen, and teriyaki--it's all super delicious! Anytime I want sushi in the Nashville area, this is my go to place. The wait staff is always friendly, the food is fresh and comes out timely, and the prices are great.

So happy to find an authentic Japanese restaurant in Nashville! The sushi was fresh and delicious and the broth in my nekayaki tasted like it had been cooking all day with whatever bones and stuff that usually get thrown away adding lots of amazing flavor. Friendly service, great price, and a down home traditional Japanese decor make this a great spot for a nice meal.

For Madison, TN this is a great place. The lunch specials are 6.99 for 2 rolls or 9.99 for 3 Rolls. They give you a list of about 18 rolls to chose from. Most of the rolls on the Lunch special menu are basic ones but still good! Dinner is great too. The Chef Special roll is awesome. The normal everyday rolls like the spicy tuna, eel, and rainbows are great! The Volcano Roll was another one of my favorites. You won't be disappointed I promise.

My wife and I just tried this tonight. And we were thrilled by how good the quality of the food was here. She had the California Roll while I had Crunchy Crab. We both got Bento Boxes and the combination of that that and two full rolls filled us both up. We had a lil food in the boxes left over so unless you're famished, dont do what we did. Thats the only negative thing I have to say. Everything was excellent. For the record, my wife has had more exposer to sushi than I have, but she was none the less thrilled. All in all, fair pricing because of fresh ingredients, very friendly chefs, and good service. 9.5/10 from me, 10/10 from my wife.

Well this place was a nice surprise! Very authentic and a vast array of choices on the menu! The sashimi tuna was fresh and the cucumber roll was amazing and done the right way. Most sushi chefs don't know how to make it tight to wear it doesn't fall apart but they def. do. I look forward to coming back and trying more of a variety of things.

  • Dan W.

Excellent quality at affordable prices. I had a Bento Box with generous portions of Bulgogi Beef and Gyoza, and I ordered a Spicy Crawfish roll that ended up being on the house! The fresh brewed iced green tea was also great.

What a deal! 3 rolls of sushi for $9.99 as a lunch special? Sure, why not? Is it the best sushi in Nashville? Nah. Is it pretty good? Sure. I also really appreciate the menus and table-top rolodex of sushi descriptions with vivid pictures and descriptions to help you understand exactly what you're ordering! Plus as a vegan, they had a significant amount of "interesting" options for me. Note how I specified "interesting" as many sushi joints just offer the basics like an avocado roll or cucumber roll while Sapporo had many options including the "Shrek" roll that I ordered. I sat at the sushi bar and watched them quickly produce my roll. The entire staff was super friendly and were efficient through my entire meal. The Shrek was tasty albeit not the best presentation that I have seen. Either way, it was filling and I was happy about my selection! There are also a plethora of other items that you can order including noodles, rice, tempura, and other entrees that looked very appealing. I plan to come back although the location isn't very conducive for me. Overall, I would rate Sapporo 3.5 stars!

  • Dagan B.

It gets 4 star for their 3 roll special for $9.99. I have come to except that 90% of sushi in Nashville is roughly the same depending on their delivery dates. The thing here is they put good size chunks of fish in their rolls and the quality isnt bad most of the time.

    (4)
  • Michael T.

I had several rolls, all of which were fresh. Service was great, and the sushi chef was very accommodating( he'll do almost anything you want within reason.) This is my new favorite sushi spot.

Came here last night not knowing what to expect, but I was definitely NOT disappointed! I ordered my usual favorites of Philly rolls and crunchy crab and shrimp rolls, and tried some fried crab rolls - delicious!! And best part: I got to end it with some mochi ice cream!!! I've never had any before and was very eager to try. They also have ramune for sale. They're all flavors you can find at World Market - nothing special - but I like the option to get it there!

I was STARVING when I arrived at Sapporo for dinner. Amazingly, my multi-roll meal was ordered, prepared, and served to me within two minutes. No joke... Sapporo offers some pretty unbeatable deals, such as three different half to full size rolls for $9.99. That is TRULY unbeatable. However, it really was thrown together in merely seconds! I was sitting at the sushi bar and I can't tell you how it was done, but it was by the two sushi chefs - assembly line sushi? Maybe the "deal" plates' sushi pieces are pre-assembled and get thrown onto a plate. So the 3rd star in my review is for the speed and hospitality of the staff. As for the sushi - it wasn't the best quality raw salmon I've ever had, and it wasn't the prettiest sushi. (Hell, it was made in under a minute!) The tastes were so-so.

    (3)
  • Casey S.

They have sooo many unique sushi rolls, but also check out their other entrees! There aren't many places you can get ramen in Nashville. Disappointed that their okonomiyaki is so expensive ($15). They have great sushi specials, we both always get the spicy sushi combo. Comes with soup and a salad and 3 good-sized rolls. On top of it all, the restaurant is decorated like an old Japanese restaurant (like a real restaurant in Japan would look). The dining chairs are big, old, wooden monoliths. The interior doesn't look new, it's kind of old and used looking, but I like that because I really reminds me of Japan.

I live in Southern California where they have the best Asian restaurants in the country. On a month long business trip out here I was definitely craving my native food, and this place was a most pleasant surprise. The service was phenomenal, and their food delicious. With such a wide variety of options, from Japanese to Korean, you shouldn't normally expect a lot, but they do it well. Better than any other place in this region. All their noodle dishes are good, and the sushi is not bad considering real good sushi you are not going to find in Nashville nor is it going to be this cheap. So it is edible if you are craving it. The korean meat dishes are also tasty. One trick is the consistency--something different staff are cooking at night, and in probably the half dozen times we went here there were a couple dishes that weren't as good as we had before.

Nice place to go for cheap sushi. Very friendly staff and great customer service. The waitress really knew the regulars and knew what they always ordered which is a good thing! I was a little disturbed though, the waitress called my date out by saying, "Are any of the other women you come here with on the way here?". Talk about she kept egging it on. Hummmm?? I only found the sushi to be ok but all had a pretty presentation. Lots of variety to choose from I must say. Maybe my feelings about the food will change when I go back by myself. :)

Really good sushi and I like the way it's decorated. They also have a 3 rolls for $10!

  • Leah M.

My favorite place in town for sushi! I come here frequently for the lunch specials! The sushi chefs and waitress know me by name (as they do many of their customers). They even provide their "regulars" with their very own chopsticks and boxes that are kept in the restaurant behind the sushi bar. They also hook up their favorite guests with crab/cucumber salad. Very tasty! What to try: The lunch special! It is 2 rolls plus soup and salad for $6.99. Can't beat that price! I can never finish all the sushi since the rolls are so large! My favorite roll is the tempura battered crab and cream cheese roll. Awesome! Pros: Great customer service, fresh rolls every time, wide selection, offers specials for holidays (Christmas, Valentine's Day, etc.) Cons: Location is in Madison...about 20-30 minutes from downtown Nashville. I wish they'd open up a location out in Hermitage/Donelson and also Downtown... maybe one day if keep bugging them!

I have been going to Sapporo for years. Easily the best sushi in the area. Friendly staff and orders are completed quickly. I have never had sushi order that was anything but amazing. The atmosphere is laid back - not stuffy. Will continue to frequent this establishment.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Nashville, especially for sushi. The sushi is fresh and the staff are always attentive and friendly. The lunch special rolls are good and filling. My favorite is the Chirasi bowl.

Been coming here for 10 years - always called Sapporo but has had change of owners, stopped by last week after a 2 year break, it was really great, very inspiring menu with a wide range of items and all reasonably priced. Friendly service and nice decor. if this place was closer to East Nashers we would go all the time, easily as good as Ichiban but cheaper.

So delicious and the staff is always so friendly and accommodating! I only wish they played better music - they always have the top 40 playing and it's super annoying.

Hidden gem in Nashville! So much variety and deliciousness! All of the sushi is fresh, creative and delicious! It is easy to flip through the picture book on every table to find which told to order. Be sure to ask for the chef's special
