This place has a weird assed name. I didn't even get that it meant, "Mexico" until my honey pointed it out to me. [I felt really blond after that...] Our waiter made us home made top shelf margaritas bc I read the reviews about the mix being shitty. They were hands down the BEST ones I have had in a HOT minute. The chili rellano I ordered was as good as the ones I have had in Mexico. They actually had beef, the sauce, and were topped with cheese sauce as they should be! The enchilada sauce is AWESOME. Baby loved his burrito combo as well. ONLY complaint....Chips were from yesterday [it was not crowded but still, fresh chips ppl] and the bathroom has air dryers, not paper towels. The thought of touching a door after people who don't wash their hands creeps me out to no end. I do not need butt germs with my salsa. Awesome joint, nice servers!

After several tries over the past few years, my last yesterday ended it. The service is good and attentive, however the food isn't that flavorful and quite frankly better can be found a few times over within a 5 min drive. Wishing it were better...

Great food! I ordered the choriqueso, which was good although I feel there was not much chorizo in it. The habanero sauce is very good mixed in with the regular salsa. I had the shrimp enchiladas, which came with green sauce, cheese, and fajita veggies. It was interesting in that I wasn't able to taste the green sauce at all (it was very mild), but the enchiladas were good. I also had a few bites of a combo fajita. The choizo in the fajita was very flavorful (probably the strongest I have ever tasted), and the steak and shrimp were very good as well. I think they should increase the amount of chorizo in their choriqueso. Their chips are awesome! Not too thick or overcooked. Unfortunately, I felt they were a little pricey for this cuisine, but very good nonetheless.

We've taken the family twice to this restaurant. It has been amazing both times. The wait staff is incredibly friendly, the food is great, and the atmosphere is better than most Mexican restaurants in the area. They even had a live band last night! (Albeit not the best band). This place has made the top of the list for Mexican food for our family.

Don't know what to think of the restaurant now that it's been listed twice among the bottom in cleanliness in the weekly News Sentinel food columns. Wish there was more info: Rats? Unsanitary food prep? Or what? The place does need an update as far as carpets and booths and such. Don't think I'll be going again until I see a score that puts them toward the top of health department ratings.

Really good.. Your classic Mexican food with a little almost upscale twist with food presentation.. But not price.. We loved it!! Would have gotten 5 stars if it didn't just have the run of the mill chips..

Recently renovated and the food is great! If you haven't been recently you should give it a go. Try the Pancho Villa Tacos (not on the menu but muy bueno!) Also the place is a must for Cinco de Mayo!

Hands down the best Mexican food in Knoxville. I have eaten there many times and the food has always been fantastic and the service is amazing!

Only reason I did not give 5 stars is because of all the fantastic Mexican restaurants I love in San Antonio. However, this place has the best mole I have had outside SA and I enjoyed the salsa as well! My husband is a chimichanga kind of guy (could not get those in SA) and his was really good. Margaritas were also quite nice, as always!

I met a large group here last night for a photography club meeting. Meksiko has a separate room in the back that you can reserve for events. It was a good place for our meeting. It would accommodate about 20 people comfortably. This is just another typical Mexican restaurant, with nothing setting it apart from the crowd. The house margaritas were nothing special and were weak. One of my friends got a top shelf margarita and she wasn't that impressed with it either. The salsa wasn't spectacular, but it wasn't bad. For my meal, I had the red fajitas with chicken. The red fajitas have a chipotle seasoning on the meat, while the regular ones don't. I can't compare the two since I haven't had the plain version. The meat didn't seem that spicy on its own, so I wonder if there really is that much of a difference or if they just messed up and forgot the chipotle seasoning. The refried beans on the side weren't as hot as I would have liked, but lukewarm sufficed. The scoop of guacamole on the side was fresh and pretty enjoyable. The meal was nothing to phone home about, but it was solidly decent. The portion was large. I took half of it home and I will be eating it for dinner tonight. The service was very slow, but I'll give them a free pass for that since we were such a large/confusing group. Everyone had separate checks, etc. They forgot to bring out my tortillas at first and I had to wait a few extra minutes for them. I checked in on Foursquare. The special was a free dessert for first time check-ins. Our server didn't check up on us often, so I didn't get a chance to ask for the free dessert. One of the other members of our group had the same deal on her phone. She wasn't able to claim it either. I would only go back here if someone else wanted to meet me there, but it won't be a destination for me. There are too many other Mexican restaurants in the area that I would like to try first.

5 stars for great food, 3 stars for bad service. My impression was that the service normally is good, maybe they just had a busy night, but our waiter ran around too fast to be observant, and was distracting. Other staff were very good and came over to check on us and refill our drinks. Good restaurant, one bad waiter.

A solid 4. No complaints at all. Chicken chimichanga and veggie quesadilla. This appears to be a dive but its not.

I would highly recommend this place. The food was extremely yummy - better than your average Mexican restaurant. And it seemed a little more spicy and tex-mex than authentic Mexican to me. Our server was fantastic -- extra friendly with all of the kids we had with us. Great atmosphere, trendy decor, and super clean a plus as well. I am so very sad that we found this place a month before moving...I would have liked to have become a "regular" here.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
