My boyfriend and I ate here for lunch. We ordered fried pork dumplings and entrees hibachi shrimp and hibachi chicken. The food was delicious! For $5.99, an entree comes with a side of vegetables and salad. I would come back here again. The food quality is way better than Asia Kitchen. The waitress/hostess was very nice to us even though we had witnessed two parties cancel their orders and leave. These parties probably thought this place wasn't good because we were the only ones eating at the restaurant. Try this place out for yourself!

Food was amazing and made fresh! We waited a really long time for our food but I'm convinced it was because they made each of our meals (which are big enough to share) completely fresh. The wait staff is wicked attentive and really nice. Didn't try the sushi but the entrees were delicious!

Seated quickly and drink orders taken. Sweet Tea was excellent! I ordered Hibachi Chicken which comes with soup or salad. The Hostess/Server brought out a soup because they were out of salad. The soup was terrible!! It was a broth style with seaweed and tofu. Extremely nasty!! The Entree came out in a nice presentation. Good but nothing special. Will probably not visit again...

Veggie roll - pickled radish, cucumber, carrot, avocado, you'll get 6 pieces and I enjoyed this roll but I feel like there was nothing to it. I've only found one place in Knoxville that serves great vegetable rolls - Chaiyo. Ama (asparagus, mango, avocado) roll - they have way too much rice on this roll. I could barely taste the filling. Papaya salad - I liked the spicy flavor but the quality and presentation was lacking. My leaf wasn't clean and it's just not up to par. There as hardly any crushed peanuts, no visible tomatoes and the papaya wasn't separated. Tofu red curry - it's a heck lot of peppers. You'll get about 2-3 pieces of bamboo shoots and eggplant. They were gracious with the amount of white rice given but I felt like this was overpriced compared to other thai restaurants in the area. Tofu panang curry - surprisingly better than the red curry. But this could be because I customized it. I asked for it to be more spicy because their spice level is low. I also used less rice for this curry so the taste was more apparent, good stuff. Thai iced tea - it's always too sweet for me. I usually dilute it a lot. Spring rolls - you only get two! They also gave us a free roll. It was a tempura roll with crab, cucumber and eel sauce mixed with spicy mayo. Every roll should come with those sauces! It was so good. The service was great but that could be due to the lack of customers. We came here around 4:30pm, so it's expected that the business is slow. I couldn't help but to notice that our waitress rushes pouring the water. Our area gets soaked after she pours water in the cup. Maybe it's harder then it looks? I've never served so my review could seem harsh but I've dined a lot and this issue is rare. To sum it up, I suggest ordering the standard food for a good meal.

Disappointing service, the hostess was rude and didn't pay attention to anything. Plates were messy when they came out and my food was not seasoned at all. I would avoid this place if I were you, I am definitely never going back. Sad

Went with a group of 10. I hadn't been for awhile. Chicken was old and chewy, veggies not fresh, even in May! Pad see yu with chicken was fishy, and very salty. Our server was nice, but when the check came she tried to hide her 20% gratuity as a side dish on all 3 bills. She tried to pass it off as a casual mistake. I would've missed it but my wife is an accountant and nothing gets by her. Plus, she came to our table at one point still exhaling her cigarette from her break. Overall, kind of gross. There's far better Thai and Chinese around Ktown.

My sushi was decent and a good portion. However their soy sauce tasted strange like it was spoiled or a weird brand. My friend got a beef thai dish that tasted fishy (literally) and we believe my other friend got sick from undercooked pork in his egg roll. Like a 24 hour thing. Skip this place.

Food: I stopped by for lunch and noticed they have great lunch specials. You can get two sushi rolls with soup and salad for like $6.00 or something, among other lunch special options. Wonderful deals. I was starving that day and decided to get sushi and something off the Thai menu. The options for vegetarian rolls tend to be a little limited in Knoxville so I stuck with the avocado roll. It was delicious and very well made. Also only cost $4.00. Score. I got the basil leaves which was also very good. Lots of fresh veggies, adequate level of heat and it came out very hot. 4 stars for food Service: The service when I visited was awful. I was served by a lady who also doubled as the hostess. It really wasn't a lot for one person since there were only a handful of people eating about the same time as I was. She was actually very efficient in getting me seated and getting my order. However she pretty much laughed in my face when I told her I didn't want meat with my food. Her exact words were "Why would you not eat meat", said in a very condescending way. My drink was never refilled and she seemed to be offended that I was going to pay with a credit card instead of cash. I'm sorry but if you are not going to accept credit cards, you should say that up front and I'll take my money somewhere else. 2 stars for service The restaurant was big, nice and open. The food was good. Loved the sushi. I'll probably just stick to take out in the future.

I went there for lunch and the hostess was HORRIBLE!!! she was rude and didn't let me finish my order. Also it was very over priced even for lunch, I got two tofu pockets and it cost me 10 bucks... RIDICULOUS. The sushi was really good but I won't be returning mostly due to the rude woman

Same great Thai as the Lemon Grass in Maryville. Basil roll was super fresh. Basil chicken and New York Roll was yummy too.

Really good food. Nobody in the place though so I was a little skeptical. But ended up being good. Drunken noodles delish!

Had a buy 1 get 1 free coupon, so I decided to try it for lunch. First of all, most of the menu says "not valid with any other offers" and the coupon wasn't valid, so we decided not to use it and just order. My daughter and I ordered sushi, which wasn't fresh at all - very smelly. The crab was imitation. I can get much better sushi at the grocery store. The staff was rude to my daughter and let my hot tea run out immediately, but was willing to refill my water several times - cheap. My wife order the lunch box special, which was a good value, but again the sushi was old. The chicken was good and the edamame was OK. The miso soup was inedible. Finally, to top off the experience, my daughter asked for a to go box for the rice and edamame and the woman told her "no, you just need to eat your food.". Really? Won't be back.

Nom Nom! ^__^ I'll admit, it looks a bit scary from the outside. But have no fear! This place is super good! I remember when this same space was used as a less than desirable Chinese Buffet. I expected it to look like that place inside: dark, dingy, and 90's buffet-like. But the interior is bright and comfortable. The food was very tasty and interesting. The Thai Yellow Curry was a bit different than I am used to. Rather than being a thick, filling, stew, it was very light and flavorful. The tofu was very lightly fried and melted in my mouth. It was a great, light, summer meal. The Jasmine Rice it was served with was very aromatic and cooked to perfection. The sushi here is what I always hear people talking about. The Chef Special rolls are BIG... real BIG. We had a Smoky Mountain Roll which was more than just a roll. It has a mountain of tempura and crab on top of a shrimp tempura and cream cheese roll. This was definitely not your healthy sushi roll. We also had a Sunflower Roll. This had, I think, crab, cucumber, and shrimp in the roll and was then wrapped in green soybean paper and topped with mango. Yum. Although the Chef Special rolls are very unique, I'll probably stick to "normal" stuff next time so that I can eat more. They are just really filling. But still, they are a must try! Lucky we split all of this between three people so there was room for dessert. We had the Mango and Sticky Rice. Unlike the mango on the Sunflower Roll, this one was not quite ripe. The rice was excellent. We also had Roti in Blackberry Sauce. This was like a crepe topped in butter, powdered sugar, and blackberry sauce. This was amazing! The service was friendly and attentive. We had a fun and yummy meal and I plan to visit again soon!

I see coupons for Lemongrass all over town. I finally decided to try it out and use one. We went with another couple and that couple had a coupon as well. The restaurant looked a little sketchy inside. There was only one girl that seated us and served us. She was taking care of everyone in the restaurant. She came to take our orders and saw us all reading our coupons before we ordered. When it was time to pay for our dinners, she informed us that it was only one coupon per table even though it did not say that on the coupon. We were paying on two separate tabs but she said it did not matter. I felt like sitting at the next table and then asking her if she would honor one for each couple. The sushi was pretty good and the portions were a decent size. I will not go back because I found the service to be slow and rude. The coupons only saved us about $4 for a table of 4.. They had a sign at the front door that stated there was half price wine. When I inquired about this special, I was told it was only for the $92 bottle of wine. The house wine was gross. Don't let the coupons fool you! I will get sushi where I can have much better atmosphere and service.

As indicated from a previous reviewer, the plaza and outside of Lemongrass might scare most people off. However, upon entering the business I was greeted by a friendly staff and a pleasant dining room. The place appears clean and customer service oriented. I ordered the daily lunch box special consisting of cashew chicken, meso soup, a salad and a small sushi roll for eight bucks. I'll have to admit that I was a little apprehensive to receive this much food in one lunch special for eight dollars and was predisposed to believe the quality would suffer. I was wrong! The food was fresh, authentic, presented nicely, and tasted great!

I am struggling with whether this is a 3 star or 2 star, but I'm giving a 3 because the waitstaff was so attentive and you can tell they really want to do well. The food is decent to good, and they have an extensive menu with some non-trad stuff which is always good (2 people in my party had the grouper, which they said was delicious). For me, however, the ambiance in the place was weird. It's like a dance hall with some tables and chairs set up. When I first walked in, it felt like a museum because it was SO quiet, even with 3 or 4 other parties eating there. Additionally, I will agree with Ala d.--the food pushing! The waiter was great but he hovered wayyy too much and kept suggesting the most expensive things on the menu. Not pleasant. Other than that, however, the service was great---food came quickly, they were quick to take orders and refill glasses, and they were (other than the pushiness) pleasant. Went here with my in-laws the night before Thanksgiving (about 10 people) and they were easily able to accommodate us, so it's good for large groups.

I travel to Knoxville about every six weeks for business, and I make a point to get a hotel near this restaurant. Since I spend so much time in and around Knoxville I have tried many of the sushi restaurants around. Lemongrass is my favorite for quality, taste and value. I have only tried their Sushi, but with that said, I would definitely recommend that you stop in and give it a try.

I really enjoy simple things about Lemongrass: fresh food, consistent taste, excellent service & relaxed atmosphere. There's something to be said for walking into a restaurant that isn't blasting Top 40 music at ear-shattering decibels. I'm able to unwind with my dinner date, enjoy my favorite chilled saké, and have some really good, tastebud pleasing experiences. For sushi on the cheap, you can't beat Lemongrass. There's several menu options to choose from. The sushi is prepared fresh & reminds me of eating sushi on the west coast. The rolls are generous & the rice is impeccable. Service at Lemongrass is hands-down some of the best service I've ever received locally. I highly recommend bringing a group of friends or having an intimate dinner experience with one. Lemongrass offers a 'taste of Thai' that one will always remember.

Favorite all-around Asian in Knoxville...particularly the Thai. Oh Lemon Grass...how do I love thee? Let me count the ways... Sushi, Tom Kha, Yellow Curry with brown rice....etc etc! Not only is the food ALWAYS delicious, but more often than not when I go there, they are always letting us sample something. Before it was desserts, tonight it was the Lucy Roll. There are only a couple things I might change: 1) the atmosphere occasionally borders on...funereal...? kinda needs to be livened up a bit... 2) why you gotta be so much more expensive? But I guess I'd rather deal with those things than have sub-par food and/or service. So we'll still give you 5 stars.

Good selection of interesting Thai food and decent sushi. The atmosphere could be better, but priced nicely. I like the Tom Yung Kai (sp?) soup and the Pad Prik King. And they have brown rice!

We arrived at this little Thai restaurant and it looked like it was closed. The open sign was on, the doors were open, and the lights on the inside were mostly off. We said hello a few times and then after about 5 minutes someone came out and turned on the lights. After we were seated a few more people arrived to also dine in the restaurant. Our server was nice but incredibly hard to understand. He brought us out a sample of a sushi roll because obviously he really wanted us to order some sushi. He was attentive with keeping my water full which definitely gets a plus in my book. We started out with the Sunflower Roll, and the Larb Chicken Salad. Larb is one of my all time favorite Thai dishes to order so I was very excited they had it. The Sunflower Roll was absolutely huge. It was very colorful as the roll was wrapped with a green rice paper and was filled with crab meat, tempura shrimp, mango, avocado, and cucumber. It was a pretty good sushi roll I have to say. I posted pictures of all the food. Make sure you check all the items we ordered out. The Larb Chicken was good but I have had better. My friends had never had larb before and were very impressed with the flavors. Larb typically is minced chicken, lime juice, and shallots in a hot chili sauce served with cabbage. It usually has plenty of fresh herbs mixed in this dish, giving it a very fresh taste. Typically they are eaten similar to a lettuce wrap where you put your larb in a piece of cabbage with a little steamed or jasmine rice. Now for the entrees. We ordered the Masaman-Chicken Curry, Spicy Basil Leaves with Chicken, and the Yellow Curry with Veggies. The Masaman-Chicken Curry was very peanut like similar to a Panang Curry and not my favorite because it was very sweet. The Spicy Basil Leaves with Chicken was good and spicy as I ordered it on a 1-4 spicy scale a 3. It was good and flavorful. The last item was the Yellow Curry. My friend had ordered once before and said it was delicious because there were tomatoes in the dish, which typically aren't in curry dishes. There were a total of 4 tiny tomato pieces. Not good when that's what your looking forward to. There is not much of a difference when it comes to the spicy scale of 1 and 2. When you order it a 3 or 4 thats when its getting hot my friends. Overall, the experience was good and I would go back however I am a bigger fan of A Taste of Thai and Stir Fry. The sushi at Lemongrass would be the reason why I might go back because the Sunflower Roll was very good. A Taste of Thai has better Larb, and Stir Fry had better Curry Dishes. It never hurts to give a place a shot but this is what I thought and maybe you will think the same when you try it out. Otherwise go there for sushi. I noticed on Saturdays they have half price sushi. Cheers and Enjoy!

I like Lemongrass. I think of eating here the most on the weekends bc they have a half off sushi menu if you dine in. We also order take out from here about every other month! I am a big sushi fan and I love their Lucy Roll. I have had their Red Curry and thought it was very good as well. I like the fresh spring rolls. The servers are always nice when I come in to order togo and give me hot tea when I am waiting. The atomoshere is nothing to brag about but it is always clean and the staff is always very nice. Food- 5 Service- 5 Atmoshere-3.5

Food- 4 Service-2 Atmosphere- 3 I first went there surprised that they served sushi in this scary looking spot but the food turned out just fine. Although the owner (idk he worked there but wasn't our server) was pushing us hard to buy all this food when we already ordered sushi and 2 entrees. Then we even got dessert as well. My latest encounter with them was last week and I ordered to go because I wasn't feeling well and went with my husband to go pick it up. Before going I ordered with a lady on the phone who could barely speak english (no offense) and a fax line was going through the whole call and it made things worse. I asked her to repeat the order and she seemed to get it right. Well when we went to go get it, they left out an entree and made my pad thai a combo instead of just the regular and the whole bill was $32. My husband went back in to get his meal, and they charged him for it even though they charged me extra for something I did not want already. The guy said he would give us a free roll only if I waited longer than the 30 minutes I had to in my car. I'm sorry but if you can't get orders right maybe you need to hire someone who can man the phones better. I've called many ethnic restaurants to go and even though there is a language barrier there is hardly a problem.

Not bad. Got the Massaman shrimp and the red curry with chicken. The shrimp dish was tasty, curry was average. Really good service and I like the atmosphere of the restaurant. It's in a strip mall that's getting a facelift which is kind of off-putting.

I hope this place goes out of business.........like Yesterday! Just Horrible! Rude server and hostess-"OK, You tip me, you tip me OK? Pad Prik used pre boiled slices of pork in a bland sauce with sliced zucchini and to baby ears of corn as sole vegetable/garnish. Did not have what was on the wipe board near the entrance. Tom yum goong was made with a powder mix soup and 3 overcooked shrimp. Overall disgusting!

To be fair, 3 1/2 stars... I've had sushi here several times and really enjoyed it. Their miso soup is very nice and all the rolls I've had are done very well. They always have special rolls that look really interesting, but I've never tried them. The price is on the medium side, there are cheaper around, but its not price gouging. I would give 4 stars for sushi alone. Last night I had their thai menu for the first time b/c my preferred Thai place was already closed for Christmas. Mixed reaction, I had pad see ew, which is my general standby if there is no drunken noodle and it was quite good. But my Mom had teriyaki chicken, which didn't have much flavor, sister had a sweet and sour chicken which tasted like dessert and my dad had a garlic chicken which was just too salty. I think I was the only one satisfied with what I ordered. Sadly it'd be a 2 1/2 star review for the thai food. So the final balance, 3 1/2 stars. I'm sure I'll come back when I'm in the country... but for the sushi!

Best sushi in Knoxville. Best of all, it is half price on Sat and Sun. The staff is very friendly and actually from Thailand or geographically near, so the food is authentic. Try the pad prik king. You won't be disappointed.

Lemon Grass is a very good choice on the Northwest Side of Knoxville. Walter highly recommends the Lucy Roll, which is sort of an open face crab rangoon. Also, the Spicy Green Curry with Chicken, coconut milk, fresh hot pepper, bamboo shoots, eggplant, and sweet basil is very nice. Ample rice, cooked to perfection.
