My boyfriend and I have been here several times and we love this place. We are always greeted with a smile as soon as we walk in the door. I typically get the Chicken entrée (I can't get enough of the soup served with it, it's so good) with noodles instead of rice and it is worth the extra $2.00. It's just too much rice for me to eat. It is always good and is also served with plenty of vegetables. I recommend the Red Ninja Roll, it has a nice flavor and was plentiful. The prices are good, the food is great, friendly staff, and short wait times. It's impossible for me to not like it.

I ordered from here for delivery and I will say that the food was okay. I am a bit surprised to find that the prices through the delivery service and the prices listed on Koko Japanese Grill's menu page are not the same. Some items are cheaper on their own site and some are more expensive. Plus, the menus aren't the same in regards to actual items available. I am not sure that this is appropriate. As for the food, I got a sushi roll and a tofu hibachi meal. The sushi roll was okay, but a bit too sweet for my liking. The hibachi meal was a little different than what I've had elsewhere. The vegetables were quite soggy and not what you would typically get at a restaurant. It seemed like leftovers were put on my plate. The addition of cabbage is kinda weird. The proportion of the meal itself is nothing like what you would get if dining for hibachi somewhere. Plus, no sauces come with hibachi when you order delivery. That's a big part of the meal, so I wasn't a fan. I can understand that there is an up-charge for every little thing via delivery, but at least one sauce should be provided. All-in-all, the food was average. Nothing special and nothing horrible.

Assorted sushi - they didn't have much options for veggie heads besides the regular one piece veggie..which is so not worth it. But anyways, I ended up picking out the crab and fish in my friend's order since it was more flavorful. I enjoyed the flavor of the sushi and I'm glad it didn't have a ton of rice, and the rice wasn't a mush! Vegetable udon - VERY VERY oily and salty. It came with vegetable tempura; I didn't understand what the point of the tempura since it's going to get soggy within a matter of seconds of mixing. I got rid of the tempura layer and put all the veggies in the bowl and mixed. The only positive aspect about this dish was the udon texture. It wasn't a mush or too hard.

Light on actual fish in the sushi. Go downtown and spend the money. The happy hour not worth it.

I was not very impressed. I got a Joyful Roll and Philadelphia Roll. The Philly had barely any salmon in it that I couldn't even taste or barely see it. It also had tempura which I found strange like a weird filler. The Signature Roll was very tasty but for $13 the size didn't cut it for me. I will however give them a hats off for the Ribeye Hibachi. The meat was cooked perfectly mid rare and very tender and juicy. I've never seen meat cooked that well in a hibachi style.

Happy hour sushi was not good. My avocado was brown and not fresh. Tempura appetizer was very good. They have a black board up around sushi chefs so you can't see them prepare sushi very well. Service was friendly.

I went here today because we had a Groupon for it. I was impressed with the cleanliness and friendliness when we first walked in. There was a server to our table promptly and we received our drinks quickly. I ordered the Rainbow Roll and my husband ordered the chicken and shrimp hibachi with only Carrots. I thought the fish on top of the roll was not as fresh as I'd like. The taste of the roll was bland and not as good as I've had. My husband's Chicken and Shrimp was OK at best. The fried rice was just rice. No veggies or egg in it. There was a lot of rice. There were very few carrots, but there was plenty of chicken and shrimp. Overall, I was not impressed, but not disappointed. I would probably not go back. I've had much better flavor and freshness.

This is my favorite Asian food restaurant in Knoxville! I always come here when I come home on the weekends from college. I get the chicken entree with brown rice. Occasionally I will get a spring roll and they are INCREDIBLE!

We moved to the Cedar Bluff area three months ago and have visited Koko 4 times. The food is good and price is reasonable but last nights visit was far from enjoyable due to kids with mobile devices as baby sitters. With full volume at the table next to ours we finished the first of what would have surely been a larger tab and promptly left. I'm sure the kids were with a party that was a part of the ownership of the restaurant. When has this become acceptable? We will try again but if we have to endure kids with games on devices we will search out another place to relax with conversation and good food.

The food was great! Other than that, the price was reasonable and the service is good. It is a really nice place to have a meal.

I had dumplings and a couple of sushi rolls the other night. Great food, very relaxed feeling there, and great service. I'll be back!

Awful food, cramped seating, overpriced menu. I had a Groupon so we tried it. Big mistake. I should have eaten the Groupon. I'm certain it would have been tastier. We sent our food back and left. Go anywhere else. I ordered the hibachi chicken and shrimp. It came with fried rice, "mushroom" soup, and a salad with ginger dressing (which i asked for on the side). The soup was close to being just a bowl of hot water with a weird piece of something floating in to, which I can only assume was a tiny bit of mushroom. The salad was a small bowl of lettuce and the ginger dressing has no ginger flavor at all. Then the hibachi entree arived and it was all downhill from there. The fried rice had zero flavor. I got four small shrimp and about six small cubes of chicken over a tiny mound of unseasoned and overcooked "vegetables"(?) which looked mainly like limp and slimy cabbage. This was all incredibly overpriced at $13! I feel sorry for the server, he was pleasant and quick, but he's fighting a losing battle. Their food is too far below substandard to be saved.

Very reasonable prices and food was as good as any. Enjoyed the half priced sushi too.

Oh no, Koko. Oh no. This is not the place to go for sushi. I took a big group here on a recommendation from a friend. What a mistake. It's not that the fish wasn't fresh, it just wasn't good. The sushi was mostly rice. I like more fish in my sushi. The rice was not soft and sticky. There's nothing else to say. Go elsewhere. Like Tomo. Or Anaba. Even Nama, You can read my Yelp reviews on those places too.

I've only eaten sushi here so I can't review on the hibachi. Sushi is decent. They have half price sushi Monday thru Saturday after 5 so it's ok for a cheap sushi fix. I wouldn't pay full price for it though. It's just your average rolls, nothing special. They don't have sake and a small selection of beers. It's an alright place. Quaint and quiet. Not bad but not amazing.

I'd say overall food would be 3.5 Atmosphere and service was great. Since I'm a big sushi fan I figured I would try just about everywhere. Koko is conveniently located near the house so me and the hubby went to go check it out. The half price sushi wasn't really half off ($9 regularly for spicy tuna roll? WHAT?!), and the rolls were mostly rice than all the tasty stuff inside. It was pretty good, although they make their miso soup with chicken stock and I would pass on that if you want to go.
