Their billboard on Clinton hwy and the fact that I have heard of the one in Maryville got me to stop - twice. The first time I had the BBQ chicken sandwich. Sides, baked beans and potato salad. I am not a big BBQ eater but I liked this. The meat was tender, not fatty and moist. Only complaint would be not a lot of sauce. Like another reviewer said they could raise the bar on the sides a little bit. I also wanted unsweetened tea but they only sweet tea. The girl that was helping me told me to try the brisket, that's supposedly what they're known for so my second time there I took her suggestion. I was pleasantly surprised that the meat was tender and not loaded with fat. BUT, they did not give me any sauce! What a big fail especially since I did not discover this until I got home and I am almost a half an hour away. Total fail on someone's part. I must say I love their pickles and peppers! I don't think the sandwiches would be as good without that addition. Both times I went I appeared to be the only person there so I don't have real high hopes unless management can kick up the marketing and make some minor improvements. Come on guys!! You serve BBQ don't forget the frigging sauce!

I only gave this place one star because it was required. This is THE worst BBQ place I have ever eaten at! For starters the sauce is disgusting, the coleslaw tastes like crunchy water and fries are beyond bland. The meat has been left in a brine too long and is almost too salty to stomach. And the price, don't get me started on the price. We spent $25 on what we thought would be a filling meal for two people. What they call the big boy box will feed 1 adult and maybe a small child. Head my advice and don't waste your time or money. We also ordered drinks and never received them.

Something you should know before we continue: I judge nearly every BBQ joint by the quality of their baked beans. Is that fair or accurate? Probably not. But I do know that almost every experience I have had with a BBQ place involving crummy beans was less than spectacular. I guess I should come back on my next trip through town and try the brisket or the burnt ends, but my initial visit will have to do for now. The place itself has no discernible indoor seating, looking very much like the road-side food establishments that used to litter the highways and byways of this country. There are a variety of tables with adequate shade, although not all tables are in it all the time. Lots of parking, near to the road but far enough to not be terribly annoying. There is a smoker out front which was going strong. It smelled AMAZING. I greedily huffed the sweet, spicy smoke with every gust of wind. The young lady working was very courteous and had my baked beans out in quite literally 30 seconds. The folks who ordered before me had a more complex order and it took about 5 minutes to come out. Still not bad at all. The prices look decent, although the portions on some of the plates I sneakily scoped from behind my mirrored shades looked a little small. Now the heartbreak: the beans I ordered were clearly canned. Now this isn't a deal breaker, but canned beans require a hearty dose of tinkering to make them acceptable to a true baked bean fan. These beans were modified for sure, with some shredded pork thrown in, but it wasn't enough to avoid disappointment. All in all, I'll come back and try the main event, which looked and smelled wonderful, but I hope the folks there take a little more time with their beans. They aren't just a side: they're a way of life.

This location is definitely challenged on location ambience when compared to the Maryville location - how do you beat pulling in after a hike in the Smokies and enjoying a meal? But the food at Cedar Lane certainly seemed like the same fine food. The pulled pork, slaw, and beans were just what I was expecting, and love. I am very happy they opened the second location there and am looking forward to many more delicious meals.

I have been eagerly awaiting the opening of this Knoxville outpost of a longtime Maryville BBQ icon. I've eaten at the original and enjoyed it several times. The Cedar Lane location occupies a former Sonic, so you know the set up. You order at a window and there are several picnic tables. Two big smokers are on site. I will cut to the chase and say within minutes , my guy and I looked at each other with a little disappointment. My pulled chicken was super salty and lukewarm. My green beans seemed very canned. His sandwich, despite requesting otherwise, was covered in pickles and raw onions. The fries were DELICIOUS and I don't even like fries. I believe in the overall integrity of the establishment and will give it another chance for some ribs or one of the specials. Maybe I'm being harsh since the location is new. I would love to see them up their sides game. Of note, I know the crazy loaded hot dog is the bomb at the other location; I haven't tried it at Cedar Lane but it may be my next choice.

I gave this place a try several weeks after they opened because I had been pleased with the Maryville location in the past. Service was fast and friendly enough for this type of place. The food was less than stellar. The meat (chicken, specifically) was wet and the bun was soaked. Everything was covered in pickles and onions (which, to their credit, is noted on the menu off to the side) which made the rest of the meal taste like a huge pickle. I'm personally of the opinion that that kind of thing should come on the side ALWAYS because pickles are a love or hate thing. No one is just "sorta ok" with pickles. I would probably give them another shot to try their ribs (or anything else that would be difficult to slather with pickles.) The sides were typical bbq fare, and nothing to write home about. Prices and portions seemed fair/affordable.

I've been waiting to try this place for a while now as I passed its constitution on a daily basis and I was not disappointed! Since it was our first time my boyfriend and I decided to share to get to try a little more. We shared the brisket sandwich and a half rack of ribs. Wow!! The meat is delicious we loved it all. The ribs are insane, the meat is so tender that it quite literally falls of the bone! The sandwich came with jalapeños, onions and pickles on the side which add a nice punch if you so choose. The bbq sauce was always on the side which I like you can add the amount you want. It is very tasty, it is sweet yet has a little bit of a kick. The only thing I'd say about the sandwich is the bread was a little flimsy and had trouble keeping the meat in it. I think they should maybe toast it a little or something. Is also recommend they install umbrellas. We will definitely be back!

The food was OK, but I was very disappointed in the quality for the price. I purchased 4 sandwiches for $8.95 each to go. When I got home and opened the box, I and found only a sandwich and container half filled with sauce. For that price, I expected to get at least pickle spears and chips or a side. One of the sandwich was supposed to be a chicken breast covered with cheese, but it was a tortilla folded in half covering a small amout of chicken in small chunks and a little cheese. The Angry Andy sandwiches were also OK, but, for the price, had a small amount of meat and cheese. Unless changes are made, I know that my family will not be going back again.
