If the Lord is your shepherd, you'll be comfortable at the bar. The diner is authentic in decor and menu offerings, and the quality and speed of cooking is above average. The music is a little much (Contemporary Christian all the time) and you might get a witness, as it were. But your best bet is to keep your head low and enjoy the food--it's your best option on Fountain City on TZ Pike.

Exactly what you would expect- a greasy diner with breakfast served all day. Got the number One breakfast with a coffee and it was $10. Coffee was alright. Good was as expected. Religious signs around but the proprietor came to ask how our meal was.

My girlfriend and I were traveling back to CT and decided to stop here on our way home for breakfast. The place was amazing! I got a build your own omelet with bacon, cheese, spinach, and mushrooms. It was to die for. The biscuits were like heaven in my mouth. Definitely happy we stopped there. The atmosphere was great and the service was on point! We had Daisy! She was so sweet and personable. I wish I could say I'll be back there... maybe some day :)

Super tasty spot in the Fountain City area. They have a rotating, fresh menu. Everything there is made from scratch. The pies are so, so good. The waitresses are also super sweet. This is such a classic diner, but it's got some nice little modern twists. I love that you can get breakfast all day long. Their portions are massive and their prices are so, so low. I tried three different entres and sides, and I enjoyed all of them. Check it out. It's adorable. At least grab some pie, because it's awesome.

Ive just moved to Knoxville and this mom and pop place really was a wonderful find. The food is much better than the chain restaurants in the area. I had one of there omelets !

Never had a bad plate, and they have the best cheesecake in Knoxville (even better than Cheesecake Factory). My favorite is the chicken parmesan. We always get excellent service and the prices are fair. They make everything in house and you can even custom order whole deserts. Definite one of the hidden gems of Knoxville.

I love a good diner, and after moving from Chicago I thought I wouldn't be able to find a great one. I've been to Fountain City Diner just once, but it was perfect. Fast service and great food. I had the Fiesta Scramble and it was enough food for two meals. Ingredients seemed very fresh and were certainly flavorful. Very good, thick biscuits. No sausage gravy available, however, they had basic breakfast gravy. Everything was reasonably priced. The coffee tastes exactly like diner coffee. I will be coming again.

Solid breakfast every single time. CROWDED as all get out, every single time. But that's indicative of how tasty it is, I suppose! I typically order to go and run over to Rita's to pick up baked goods while I wait. The breakfast sandwiches are the way to go! For lunch offerings a patty melt is good but I'm not overly impressed with the rest of the regular menu. I have heard great things about their desserts but never tried them. They are all lined up in a bakery case and look overwhelmingly decadent. I admit to being a pessimist and assuming they were frozen or something, but I have heard they're homemade so I vow to check one out. Stop by this little diner for breakfast before antique browsing in the area !

What a nice find, although off our route of travel. We had breakfast. It was a nice find because it was a diner, out of the way and located in an odd parking area. Difficult to get in and lucky to have a space. We thought that we had found something good, given the cars. Interior was concrete and aluminum. Very cold feeling and in actuality. We took a booth and were glad we did as it got crowded fast. Later we wondered why. The service was slow and I think there was only one waitress to handle a full house. The food was very basic and not too flavorful. Pancakes were dry and the corned beef hash was so salty that I could not finish it. Iced tea was so weak and watery that it was closer to ice water than tea. Judging my the reviews it appears that we did not just hit it on a bad day. I think we saw it as it was.

Good but $11.50 for a small grilled chicken breast, maybe 3ozs, steamed broccoli and a cut up apple??? So if you have special food requirements, skip this place. Especially if you are on a budget. We will NOT be back. When I talked to the Mgr. asked about charges, didn't care we were not returning.

Sweet Jumpin' Jupiter this food is glorious. I'm sampling an omelette and a Bowl of Mac and Cheese and I say sampling because I know I'm taking this home. The Omelette was fluffy and full of inf The tables are very big and seem to invite family's for a meal but are situated as such so that if it's just you and a companion you don't feel guilty for taking up so much space. There is a wonderful woman with a cane who's calligraphy skills on the blackboard were mesmerizing. When I left I didn't see her, but I wish I had because I would have given her a hug and said 'Thank You'. I'm giving 5 stars because there was nothing that I felt was missing. Going into a small place like that which is family owned you expect the service to be leisure, it's not a place to grab a quick bite, it's a place to sit and talk and connect with who you have with you and have a decent meal while you're at it.

First time here. The corn okra tomato side was very good and different. Fries catfish was tasty - personal preference is a little more fish/ less breading. However it did satisfy my catfish craving. Ordered German chocolate cake to take to my mom in the hospital... Will let you know how she likes it. Ice tea was the freshest I have ever had in a restaurant and I love me some ice tea. Overall giving 4 stars- 1 whole star for the tea and service alone! Thanks Audrey! :)

The service was terrible had to ask three times for sugar to put in our cold coffee! Refills of coffee were few and far between yet still no cream or sugar! Took 30 minutes to get food and all of it was cold! The home fries hadn't seen a grill it was like they came out of a pot of boiling water! The french toast had no flavor was just egg and bread, and the 2.49 I paid for thick cut bacon was 3 slices of thin cut bacon. Really used to like this place for breakfast and try to support local, but will not be back!

This place is great!! We love the scramblers for breakfast. Coffee is the best and their wheat toast is great!! The waitresses have a nifty trick when they hand you your straw. It is the little touches that mean the most!!!

Stopped in to this little diner on our way through Knoxville. The diner was easy to get to right off the highway and there was plenty of parking. The diner itself was clean, well kept, and the staff was attentive. The pancakes were light and fluffy and the home fries were very good. We also had the fried green tomatoes which were good, but wish there was a sauce to accompany them. We took a piece of coconut cream pie to go that looks real yummy. If I was driving through again a stop would be in order.

Ate there once out of three attempts to do so. You never really know when they are going to be open depending on which holiday weekend it is as they close without warning. And their normal hours actually open do not match what they advertise on their own website. That's really annoying. If you take the time to have a website, you could at least post accurate hours of operation and list the days of the year you know you'll be closed. The one time I did eat there, the food and service was "ok".

I have been to this diner many times, always for dinner. The dinner menu consists of home style meals and I have never been disappointed. This is the kind of food you get when you eat at a family gathering. It is tasty, fresh and cooked from scratch. There are daily specials, so be sure to check out the chalkboard before you sit down. The glass case full of homemade desserts tempts you when you walk through the door. The over size booths are very roomy and the staff we have come in contact with has been friendly and helpful. There's not much in the way of ambiance but this is not the type of restaurant where you'd expect fancy lighting and original art. Fountain City Diner is a one-of-a-kind gem. It's a great place to go for dinner when you want to enjoy a well prepared plate of comfort food. The generous servings usually make it impossible to eat dessert afterwards. I suggest that you splurge and order dessert to go.

My wife and I live nearby. We've heard good things and read great reviews, so when a friend showed up from out of town and wanted to get breakfast we thought we'd try out Fountain City Diner. I doubt we'll go back. Things were bad from the start. We walked in and stood inside the door for a few minutes while staff walked by and ignored us. We had to ask other customers if we were supposed to wait to be seated or if we should just sit at one of the empty booths. When we were eventually seated, the waitress was clearly not in a good mood. The table was out of sugar and I had to ask twice to get some. We didn't get waters, had to ask. Another waitress inexplicably took our silverware and napkins and we had to ask our grumpy first waitress for new ones. I ordered the Veggie Omelette without onions. I was served a Veggie Omelette with extra onions. Not sure if it was the waitress or kitchen that messed that up. At the end of the meal, we all agreed it was an average breakfast at best. My wife and I decided we wanted to try the black velvet cake. Since the waitress already brought the ticket (without asking if we'd like dessert), she looked annoyed when we asked for the cake. The only bright spot was the cake was really good, but I don't think that's enough to get us to go back.

The breakfast food here is pretty good and we've always had pretty friendly service. However, eating some of the Chicken Parmasean and the Linguini and Meatballs, I think that their dinner menu is rather bland. My mother and I ate here twice, once for breakfast food and once for dinner. We really enjoyed breakfast, but our dinner experience was not as enjoyable. Pretty mediocre. The desserts are really good though.

My husband and I have very different tastes, but we both love to eat at Fountain City Diner! Everything is homemade, and the soups, desserts, fresh (not canned) salmon croquettes, big fluffy omelets are all wonderful! My husband loves the Monday blue plate special pot roast especially well. The staff are all friendly and helpful, and the prices are very reasonable too!

Everytime I come here, the servers are sweet as pie to me. The food is made from scratch and delicious! They will serve you a ton of good food - order dessert to go. Look for the daily special!
