Usually the food at cracker barrel is good and this trip was no exception. I could complain that there was some grit in salad not properly cleaned, or corn muffins overcooked, or food really not hot enough...but overall the food was tasty good portion of halibut (i think it was really tilapia), apples good, potato casserole good, wife's chicken fried steak was good not greasy,...for about 10$ a meal which includes 3 vegetables and bread this is a good solid value... Would somebody tell me why there are no cushions on the chairs, very uncomfortable? Oh yeah the service was good... And since this is north knoxville wearing anything is acceptable....

We stopped last night for a quick snack with odd desires: Bob wanted a BLT and me ice cream and Cracker Barrel was the perfect choice for the area. My salad and apple pie came as requested. Bob's BLT requested with extra mayo came without but the waitress quickly remedied the problem. He also liked his vegetable soup. The waitress and some of the customers helped us locate a liquor store to replenish Bob's supply of gin. Service was quick as was check out and seating and we even had a fillin waitress get our drinks while our waitress was busy elsewhere. A good service team is fun to see. Afterwards, we played checkers sitting in the rockers on the porch before returning to our room.

Cracker Barrel just isn't what it once was. I needn't explain the concept to you, so let's just hit the low points, shall we? I'm convinced they use liquid / egg beaters for their scrambled eggs now, across the board. GROSS. hashbrown casserole cold and not browned, therefore, pile of beige, cold mush. GROSS. The biscuits were chunks of dough wads falling apart. The gravy is different, too. I got all of these within the Uncle Herschel's, my "usual" breakfast splurge the once or twice per year visit I make here. The fried chicken tender, touted to be hand-breaded, was most certainly breaded by the hands of someone in a different zipcode as it was most certainly frozen. Basically a total gross bummer of a breakfast. In the future if i'm here for breakfast, I will choose items that can only be literally visually interpreted. i.e. - a whole egg fried is an egg for sure, toast is bread, etc. I haven't been for lunch foods in ages but I hope that part of their menu is still "better". It was only 1/3 crowded and we waited a very long time to receive our food. As for the mercantile side - they still have the delicious peanut butter buckeye candies for sale. I thought of those suckers as I suffered through pushing my breakfast around my plate, and tore into them immediately upon purchase.

Came here for Sunday brunch and was pleasantly surprised. I didn't expect much from a chain restaurant but the food was good and the service was excellent! I ordered the chicken fried steak with dumplings, macaroni and cheese, and mashed potatoes with brown gravy. The sides were the stars of the show for me. The chicken fried steak itself was a little dry even with the white gravy. The macaroni and cheese was delicious! The dumplings were amazing! And the mashed potatoes were good, but nothing spectacular. The service should also be noted because we had the sweetest waitress who accomodated a party of 9 with grace and much positive energy. Plus, my water was never empty! She even kept separate tabs for all of us to make paying easy peasy!

Shell was an amazing waitress. Our drinks were never allowed to be empty, our food came out in a timely manner, and Shell continuously checked to see if the cornbread I requested had finished baking. After an upsetting evening, Shell was a wonderful tonic. Cracker Barrel, you have an asset in this woman.

I like Cracker Barrel for a couple reasons (besides the food) but the important ones are there are very consistant from restaurant to restaurant and THEY DON'T SERVE ALCOHOL. I quit drinking a long time ago, and frankly I don't like being around it. I also like the fact there is a lot of old farts like me in their as well as younger families with kids. I love playing the peg game even though I mastered it 20 years ago. I like the lanterns on the table and the decor as well as the big fireplace. I like milling around in the store with all the throwback candy and games from when I was a kid. Not sure who thought of that concept, but it's genius. I occasionally stop there just to get candy and nothing else. With all that being said, if the food sucked, I wouldn't bother going to begin with. Nothing on the menu is really expensive, but it's not exactly cheap either. Not that it's far above what you'd pay at most fast food places these days but one person can (carefully) eat, drink and leave a tip for under 10 bucks. 15 would be more like it. Most of the time you don't have to wait very long (10-15 minutes) for your food and the refills are generally quick at most locations. I enjoy their breakfast above all else, and you can of course get it any time of day. I've had everything I've liked multiple times over the years but the stand outs to me are the sausage eggs and toast. Yeah, kind of hard to screw that up. Currently, I like the reuben and roast beef. Pretty much any of the soup will be good. Not sure really, it depends on my mood, how hungry I am and the time of year. Might get a good burger and fries, or a steak (granted, not the best steaks in the world but passable, and really, not a bad deal for what you get) and baked potateo or again just breakfast at 8PM. That's the genius of this place.

I love all Cracker Barrel chains and some of the employees are not as respectful as others but I'm from out of town and we ate at this Cracker Barrel I always eat off the breakfast menu and my husband get chicken fried chicken every single time. we had a great waiter the tall guy with the beard and the glasses and he was very respectful. the only thing that I did not like was that they were closing all the shades when it was beautiful outside I did however asked to keep our shade open and they opened it back up without any hesitation. just simply the best place to eat for the price and the consistency of the food quality.

I have not set foot in a Cracker Barrel in at least 30 years. I was partially reluctant to come due to some stories from the 80's and 90's about discrimination. But, I did a quick Google search and found that Cracker Barrel has made great strides forward in a short time when it comes to treating their employees fairly. We came on a Monday morning and there was still a short wait. That gives you a clue to the popularity of the place. But, we did not wait more than 5 minutes before we were seated in a nice table by the window. Our waitress showed up quickly with water and coffee. She kept our water and coffee filled during our entire breakfast and even after when we lingered a bit. She was polite, attentive and cheerful. The menu is extensive. A wide wide choice of typical southern breakfast foods including grits, pork chops, country fried steaks, and many different kinds of pancakes. We had a plate full of biscuits which were great. The bacon was crispy, and the cinnamon pancakes were some of the best I have ever had. Afterwards, we perused the gift shop for a bit before taking off. Lots of knicknacks and food items for purchase their including things such as coffee, pancake mix, and more. I'll definitely visit the Cracker Barrel again!

Good food and great service. We had a party of 7 and everyone's order was correct, hot, and yummy. Drinks were always filled, biscuits were flowing, and even the cashier was quite friendly. It was also behind our hotel, so convenience was good too.

Stopped in here for breakfast. It was just like the others. Food was hot and fresh. Eggs were perfect and the bacon was crispy just as I like. Waitress was very nice and welcoming, wished I could say the something about the hostess. It must have been a little too early for her and she hadn't drunk her morning coffee.

I love Cracker Barrel! It's one of my favorite places to eat. I've never had any problems here and I've been eating here often for 17 years. I would recommend it for some good food; you have to get the dumplins!

A very popular place and crowded, but I don't get it. I am never satisfied when I go there and struggle to find something to order. I wouldn't care if I never returned.

We were seated quickly here tonight, but our waitress was not very attentive. My dad needed something to eat for his sugar levels so I asked for a plate of biscuits right away and she took forever getting them. Then my dad's tea looked as clear as lemonade so we asked for another glass and she was a little abrupt with my dad about this. NOT COOL! However, the food was good and I would try it again.
