Wow. That is first thing that comes to mind. Food is a bit pricey but quality is fantastic. Highly recommend the twice baked potatoes, Mac and cheese, and steak.

Based upon the Yelp reviews, we opted to trek to the Copper Cellar for Sunday brunch...cause goodness knows that Knoxville is just not a brunch town town. Our server Tiffany was lovely...and friendly and helpful. Our coffee cups and water cups stayed quite full which made me quite happy. The food was mostly good. I'd recommend the prime rib and the omelet bar. And, if you like salads and fruits it was more than adequate. Skip the pasta. And to be fair, I don't understand the nacho bar...it seemed odd for brunch. The desserts looked quite tasty but we were quite sated from everything else. To be fair, I hadn't eaten here in YEARS...so, a few off the cuff observations... The music was terrible. I mean really bad. And, while I dig the feel of the place, a la Don Draper...LOTS of wood and dim lighting, some Ella or Frank would have set the ambiance level to an 8. As is, more of a 3.5 due to the really bad 70's easy listening. The bar looks like a great place for a martini or three. The bathroom however.... Stuck in the early 80's and the water pressure....non existent. Well worth the money. Hope they spend a few bucks on the bathrooms and that the music selections are better for your trip.

Great restaurant, great food, and wonderful staff. I had the calamari and shrimp cocktail as appetizers which were both great. However the calamari's breaking kept falling off the actual calamari lol, and was greasy. My lemon chicken was very tasty and tender. The Marsala I didn't care for. The next dinner I went to a couple days later, I had the grilled shrimp pasta, very yummy but the pasta had no flavor. Just greasy.

For years, the standard in which every upscale restaurant in Knoxville was held. Now, it's like most around; sometimes great, mostly average. Small details make the difference when dining out. Like, butter soft enough to spread on tasty bread or when requested, lemon for your water. The problems with this most recent experience were frozen butter that tore dry, tasteless bread and no lemon for the water to help wash it down. Hopefully, next time it will be great.

Fast, courteous service. Excellent food. The appetizers are great - I like the calamari the best. The steaks are excellent and the dinner salads are enormous and well executed. Not cheap, but worth the price.

We had brunch here this Sunday. I thought there would be a huge crowd, considering it was a little after 12:00 pm but we had no wait at all to be seated. It is a buffet, and at first it might seem a little pricey at roughly $18 a head, but you truly do get your money's worth. And allow me to say right here at the beginning, lest you are dismayed by the fact that it is a buffet, the food was MUCH higher quality than what you normally get at buffets. Things that were supposed to be cold were cold, things that were supposed to be hot were hot, nothing was rubbery or mushy or any sort of undesirable texture. Even the scrambled eggs! I don't know what kind of wizardry they employed to keep the scrambled eggs from getting gross, but it worked. The buffet is HUGE. There were all the standard breakfast offerings like sausage, bacon, eggs, bagels and so on. Salmon with accompaniments like capers and red onions. There was a prime rib chef station too, if that's your thing. They had stuff out for making fajitas too, which is probably the best idea for brunch ever. One plate contained fajita shrimp with onions and peppers, which I did not try, and the other was fajita chicken which sadly did not include the onions and peppers, but it was still tasty and well-seasoned. All the things that normally go on fajitas (rice, beans, guacamole, salsa, etc) were around there, too. Very decent, especially if you decide you're not much in a breakfast food mood. OH! I forgot one of the best parts: They also had a cheese plate. I think it was just brie, which is okay because brie is fabulous. Beside it were various tapenades and toasted bread on which to enjoy them. I was seriously weighing the pros and cons of just taking the whole wheel of brie back to my table with me. The buffet also had two make-your-own stations, one for omelets, and one for Belgian waffles. I didn't try either, but I love a good omelet, so I'll be back for that. There were also sweet offerings, which I didn't get to try because I was full of bacon and croissants and cheese, but that area seemed pretty popular with the other diners. As far as drinks, mimosas and bloody marys are on the menu for $5 each. Not a terrible price, especially since the mimosas were REALLY good. Our server told us that they also had make-your-own stations for mimosas too, with different juices and so on, but we were all lazy and hungover so we just had them make the drinks for us. Service was attentive, maybe a little overbearing, but I think that's better than only seeing a server twice during a meal. I would definitely recommend Copper Cellar to any brunch connoisseur in Knoxville.

Had a multi-generational dinner. It was my first time there, though I understand the locals love it. It was very good. All our meals were prepared perfectly. The calamari appetizer is excellent: fresh, and lots of it! And their kids' menu is comprehensive. There are many choices, even a child's steak, which my 6yr old devoured. We loved it, and the price is reasonable considering the quality and quantity of food. And our server was great.

The prime rib was amazing! And I REALLY know my prime rib. The service was great. The ambiance was perfect. Keep in mind, when you say you want everything on your baked potato, it comes with A LOT of stuff on it. Could've had just butter and sour cream.

I was told by more than one local that the Copper Cellar is THE place in Knoxville to enjoy a steak dinner. So naturally I had to check it out. I was not disappointed. There are two locations. Both of my visits have been to the Kingsland Pike location. The fact that I went back says a lot. The atmosphere is somewhat dark, but not so dark that you cannot read the menu. Unlike many steak houses with totally ala carte menus, Copper Cellar includes salad and side with your main course. For the money, you will enjoy a fine meal. I enjoyed a Blue Cheese Filet my first visit - a 7-ounce filet atop blue cheese grits dribbled with a delectable sauce ($26.95 including salad and side - steamed broccoli in my case). On my most recent visit I enjoyed the best prime rib I have had in a long time. This was truly melt-in-your-mouth prime rib. I ordered the small (12-oz) cut thinking I would not be able to eat it all. Wrong! It was absolutely delicious ($19.95 including salad and side - sugar peas this time). Paired with a wonderful California Syrah, this was a delightful meal. To top it off, I had a chocolate cannoli - not too rich with just the right balance of chocolate and cream. The service was excellent both visits. This is a great restaurant for a business dinner or a nice evening out with the wife (I have so many places I want to take her!) My only complaint - there is no real separation between the bar area and the dining room. At times the conversation at the bar can get a bit loud to the point where it can be distracting. But it has never impaired my dining room conversation and it is, at the most, a minor annoyance - certainly not enough to keep me away. Out of five stars I give them four. Only because there are steak houses in the country that are unbeatable (Frankie Rowlands, Roanoke, VA; Lynn's, Houston, TX).

I never knew what was so great about this place. Believe me, I was dragged here enough. And it was usually to the bar. But we usually got food. Okay, fine enough bar food but nothing special. I think you have to be born and bred Tennessee to love it. Unfortunately, I was born in the North, Volunteer by the Grace of God! Go VOLS!!

This place is a great place for a steak dinner. I used to come here a lot before I went vegetarian. Coming here again might make me change my mind . . .

When in Knoxville, I usually go to copper cellar for their Sunday brunch. It is always a great choice for brunch buffet while in Knoxville. As usual, as with any buffet, it is so damn easy to overeat. & I managed to meet that expectation yet again! I always opt for the omelet station, & I got my usual favorite with sausage cheese onions mushrooms etc.. They always do a great job because they make the omelets fresh to order. But of course there are many selections including prime rib, which was really delicious, & a whole bunch of other things like mac and cheese, sausage and gravy, bacon, sausage, etc. Ad nauseum. I saw that they had a whole selection of desserts, but since I suffer from heartburn which is triggered via sweets, I usually tend not to go there but they did look delicious. The service is always excellent with a very nice cozy atmosphere. All of this for $19 a person, which does include at least some soft drink or something like that, and they do offer mimosas and Bloody Marys. But I did not get any alcoholic beverage this time so I really don't know if that was included in the bill. For $19 a person this is an incredible deal and I highly recommend copper cellar for Sunday brunch!

Copper Cellar is kind of a landmark in the Knoxville area, I would assume most everyone has eaten here before. If you haven't then I'm sure you have dined at one of the restaurants that the Knoxvillian restauranteur has: Calhoun's, Smoky Mountain Brewery, and Cherokee Grill in Gatlinburg. Service is usually good, exceptional if you have Brenda for your server (she's been there for a very very long time). The atmosphere here is definitely a bit dated but that doesn't take anything from the food. Note to self, you might need a flashlight to look at the menu ;) My fav's: any of the steak options, veal cappuccino, chicken piccata, bruschetta appetizer, French onion soup, and brunch of course! They always have specials and a nice happy hour. So what are you waiting for w/ a full bar, a good menu, and plenty of people to socialize w/, if you hear your stomach growl and are in the area give this place a shot. They also have a good brunch, and also holiday seatings (thanksgiving, etc). Talk about a lot of food at both!!

Lived in Knoxville for five years now and finally got around to trying this restaurant. The moment I walked in the door I knew I was in the wrong place. The smell was not one would expect in a better restaurant. Quite off putting! I had calamari as a starter and it was quite tasty. Then my first entrée showed up looking and tasting very different than it should have. Advertised as a pork loin with polenta. It was a pounded pork cutlet that had been fried and had a very off taste. They kindly offered something else and I took them up on a Shrimp scampi. The shrimp tasted quite odd the pasta was oily and did not have fresh good flavors. I could not eat this entrée either. I paid for the calamari and a beer but was not charged for the entrées. I will not be returning to this restaurant.

Fantastic Sunday brunch offering a delightful variety from fresh seafood to prime rib. Omelets made to order, cheesy hash brown casserole, dessert bar, waffles, spinach soufflé, mimosa bar, Bloody Mary bar. I could go on and on. It was all delicious and I am not a fan of buffets but my vote is yes on this one. It is reasonably priced at $20.00 plus drink and all you can eat. I really enjoyed every bite.

I went to UT waaaayyy back in the 70s. The Cellar was the go to fancy place to eat on the Strip. My husband and my best friends came into town to celebrate two of our birthdays. We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn (absolutely fabulous) and walked across the street to the Copper Cellar so we could party responsibly. We opted for downstairs, since we wanted the high end menu. It still looks the same, in a fabulous way. Leather booths, brass and cozy, old school. We had oysters, a salad and the amazing blue crab bisque to start. Wonderful! Three of us had the 9 oz. prime rib with a skewer of large grilled Gulf shrimp, spinach and artichoke Maria and a baked potato. Cooked to perfection! We loved it! Our renegade had the stuffed grilled salmon and she raved about that as well! Our server was excellent! We had a ball and then walked all over campus to reminisce about our good old days as students and went to all of our old dorms. Perfect night with the best friends on the planet!

I should preface this by saying that this review is ONLY for brunch on Sunday. I ate dinner here once a few weeks ago and wasn't really impressed at all but brunch was oh so spectacular. It was very very good. I met up with a few friends for brunch and didn't realize it was a buffet until I got there. The food is displayed nicely and there is an abundance of it. As a non meat eating person, I had a lot to choose from. They have a made to order omelette bar , as well as a waffle making station that was fantastic. Both the breakfast and lunch items were served at the ideal temperature. Salad, pasta, a roast beef station, breakfast meat, biscuits and gravy. You name it, they had it. It really was just an amazing buffet. Which means a lot coming from someone who usually avoids buffet style meals. Our waiter was attentive andt filled our glasses as quickly as we emptied them. Which was a lot of work cause we had a party of 10. It cost $17.99 a person, which was very very appropriately priced, given the variety of food they had available. I will be back to Copper Cellar for brunch as often as I can. It was a wonderful experience and absolutely worth every penny.

Dinner here the night before a tour of UT. Great location right on the strip. Service with a smile. Salad was good, not great. Burger was good and steak was average. Perfectly fine place to eat dinner, don't expect to be wowed!

Ate there a couple times in the past month. Had the chicken oscar and the grilled salmon with the spicy mac and cheese with spinach as a side both times. Food was good, service was great, both times.

You know the lack of windows makes this place very uninviting, but I am actually a fan. The food was good, and it's definitely the best restaurant in the Cooper Cellar, Calhoun's, Smokey Mountain Brewery family. The "Cumberland Grill/Copper Cellar" on the strip will leave you with a very underwhelmed notion of this chain, so I was happy to be pleasantly surprised. I ordered lemon chicken with a side of squash and broccoli. Everything was good, but I enjoyed my stuff crepe for dessert and velas helles beer the most. Well, not in that order.

Where to start? This Ohio Yankee down in Tennessee to see what's cooking - what is cooking is tremendous! Let's start with the atmosphere: beautiful decor with wonderful stained glass - surprising for a college restaurant. Service was very good and kept my wine glass full throughout the meal (great prices by the way for quality Cab by the glass). Started with side salad with their own Cheddar Cheese dressing - if you like cheese you will love this salad especially with the very large portion. I was lucky enough to be here on Friday night so I could order their Prime Rib Sandwich cooked medium rare with a side order of their very own Neva potatoes that were recommended by our server. OMG both were to die for! When I first saw the size of the sandwich I was like there is no way I'm going to finish this but halfway through I'm like there is no way I'm leaving any of this behind. The potatoes were cheesy hash browns with a baked golden crust and they were delicious. I had to keep other people at my table from stealing a bite! The only negative of the restaurant was the horrible state of the men's restroom but that may have been an anomaly. Prices were very reasonable as four of ate extremely well for about $90 including tip and wine.

Copper Cellar is definitely worth a try, if you haven't already. Their crab bisque has the best flavor of any bisque I have ever tried, ever. The chefs do a wonderful job on the food. The prime rib sandwich is superb, the meat melts in your mouth and the fries are fresh cut. The steaks are amazing and the servers are courteous. The lobster mac and cheese, on the other hand, was absolutely disgusting. The lobster in the dish was good, but the cheeses on this made the whole thing smell like a wet dog and taste awful. If you haven't tried the Sunday brunch, you are missing out. Almost everything on the menu is available!

Four of us at the "new" Cappuccinos in the Copper Cellar. New chef and honest to goodness Italian menu all made with fresh products. All four dinners were excellent as was the service.

We have loved this place for Sunday Brunch for years and today shattered all of that. The only good thing about today's meal was they took away the mandatory 15% gratuity. The service had to be the worst that we have EVER experienced. Rich got one refill of coffee, the waitress disappeared for 15 minutes, and we had to beg to get someone to bring coffee and water. The worst part of it was the food though. I am not sure what happened today but this was the lowest quality of food they have ever served. I could understand if the food had been sitting for hours, but we actually got there 6 minutes after they opened. I had a feeling it was going to be bad when the omelet station said they can no longer do fried eggs. When you are spending $19 per person, these are not the issues you want to run into.

Was expecting great dinner experience according to reviews but what a disappointment instead. Restaurant decor reminds of basement bar without windows. Our server was nice and we had no problems with the service. What was disappointing is the quality of food starting with the complimentary bread which was warm but tasted like it has been frozen previously. The grilled Southwestern chicken salad sounded good but the lettuce was straight from one of the ready cheap iceberg mix bags with little avocado, tomatoes, peppers, beans and chicken tossed on top, fast food restaurants have better quality ingredients. My husbands steak was ok but the gravy was excessively salty. Blue cheese grits and spinach sides were average. Just leaves me wondering if the restaurant cooks anything from scratch instead of ready mixes. I love desserts but after the poor quality meal I did not want to give it a try. I would not give this restaurant a second chance.

We stopped here for a Bloody Mary after flying into Knoxville. We were so impressed that we stopped there again before our returning flight to Tampa. Courtney and Lisa were very friendly and helpful. The food was very good and, of course, the Bloody Mary's were amazing.

The wait staff is both friendly and professional. The food is always top notch. All of their sides are incredible; try the spinach Maria or spicy Mac & Cheese! I personally am a big fan of the 9oz filet medium rare. It is always served thick, juicy and perfectly seasoned! The chargrilled shrimp are also very tasty and fresh: 5 jumbo shrimp on a skewer with melted butter on the side. Yumm! If you want a leisurely dining experience I definitely would recommend this place. However, they also have a special LUNCH MENU and are happy to accommodate a speedy service if you are in a time crunch (work break etc).

  • Tim H.

Let me start by saying that all of the staff I encountered were extremely friendly. Leann was my server and was friendly, prompt and helpful with recommendations. I had the Shrimp Chesapeake and it was Yummy!! Salad came with a house made cheddar cheese dressing which was good as well. To top it off I had the Strawberry Shortcake, very good, but LARGE. The only reason I did not give it a 5 star rating was the dim lighting. While it is nice for a romantic dinner, it is not best to use my iPhone to light up the menu. This is not that big of a deal, but worth mentioning. Overall I came here based on the Hotel staff's recommendation, and I left FULL and SATISFIED.

Woo! This place is a favorite... for a nice dinner out with the wife or a lunch with a college, this place is nice and has a good atmosphere with quite tasty foods. Sometimes the service is better then at other times, like if its crowded on a weekend evening or a certain holiday season.

Ale House Pork Chop to die for - just my personal opinion :) Service is top-notch, food is excellent, and atmosphere is really nice...very relaxing. Lunch is great, too! And with free WiFi, it doesn't get much better than that!

My entire & extended family would agree Copper Cellar is Knoxville's most reliable restaurant. The best value entree isn't even on the menu anymore, but we still order it 75% of the time. Chopped Steak with blue cheese grits! I know, I know, I hate blue cheese too, but it's just the hint of blue cheese that makes it so magical when you take a bite with your steak! Steaks are always good cuts. Last Thursday had Blount County Tomatoes as an appetizer that were amazing! Good wine selection & value, try their Brandy Alexander to impress your date, made with Mayfield's vanilla ice cream. Be sure to ask if your cocktail has fresh squeezed juices or out of a bottle before ordering too. The fresh squeezed juices are appreciably better. Update; I need to qualify my recommendation that you go elsewhere on Tuesdays. I suspect the chef has that day off, and the food is noticeably not near the quality of preparation. The hamburger comes out is rare, or over-done every time. Even their blue cheese grits taste funny on Tuesdays. I can't speak for Mondays, but the rest of the week is great!

I love this location for sunday brunch. I dont generally eat here for any other meals. I was a little disappointed this visit. I stayed at the table so my daughter could make her plate. 3 waitresses walked by and no one greeted or took drink order. After our waitress finally came I met my daughter in the buffet area. As she was eating her raco from the taco bar....she pauses with a strange loo on her face. I asked her what was wrong and she says there is a hair in my food. I quickly removed the plate from in front of her and told her to go get another plate if she wanted one. Our last attempt coming here was on mother's day when they only took reservations. Generally I am a one strike and you are out on restaurants. But because this place is one of the only locations with a decent brunch since italian market closed I will give them one more chance. this is my daughters favorite place to go and even she is not happy about our experience. She is only 11!

Just about our favorite local restaurant. But this time, oh my! One of the best dinners I've ever had! The Veal Oscar - I just can't say enough about how excellent it was. The crab was plentiful, the asparagus cooked to perfection; the sauce was perfect, and the veal delicious. My husband shared some of his bisque with me, and it was heavenly! No wonder we look so forward to going to this restaurant.

It's dated, but good. I don't like steak, but love the prosperity steak. Go to the one out West for Sunday Brunch. Outstanding and it's a buffet so you can try different things and get a salad. And the Cumberland Grill, the upstairs of the Copper Cellar on the strip is always very high rated by me.

Fantastic steaks and gr8 French Onion soup! Try the cheddar cheese dressing and come back for the best Sunday Brunch n town. The decor's a little dated and dark, but it is intimate for a date or business dinner. The prices are a little high, but most of it's worth it.

If you want a great steak in Knoxville, then this is your place. The prices for the quality of the meats can't be beat. My favorite thing on the menu here is the ground sirloin steak with sauteed mushrooms, it quite honestly is the best I've ever had. I've been coming to this place for over 20 years and the service and quality has always been top class too. This is where the locals go for great food and you should too, it's never a gamble here if you want the best.

The Copper Cellar is a Knoxville institution. It has been here since i was a kid in the 1970's. Last night was the first time i have ever been to it and i loved it. The atmosphere is awesome. It really is like walking into a cellar that has been reburbished with high end decor. It is very dimly lit which is nice. The restaurant has dark maroons and browns, heavy woodwork and comfortable seating throughout which is relaxing. We started off with the calamari which is probably one of the best calamaris i have ever had. The dipping sauces were great....especially the one that had horsereadish in it. Alot of places cant seem to serve good calamari but The Copper Cellar does. I had the Maryland Crab Cakes for my entree and they were incredible. Absolutely no filler that i could detect....just 100% spicy crab. I got the twicy baked potatos which were creamey and full of spice. My friends had the prime rib which literally made my mouth water just looking at them. So very pink and juicy looking. One of my friends had the spinich dip as her side and that was the best spinich dip ever. The Copper Cellar is a restaurant well worth your time seeking out and enjoying.
