We are proud to live in Fountain City and proud to have this here. In 20+ trips its always pretty good. I put it at a 5 because its tied with Littons for the best place to eat in FC

This is my favorite Chop House location. I normally sit in the booths on the bar side, it's less stuffy and more interesting-looking. They have a good wine list and A+ specials during Happy Hour. I think all of the food at Chop House is consistently good. Their salads are really delicious, as are soups. There are always 3 or four specials (one steak and one seafood at least) each night. Regular menu items that never fail to please are: Chopped Salad, Tenderloin Salad, Crab cakes, Lamb chops, petite Pork chops. The hazelnut dessert is probably the best thing you will EVER EVER taste in terms of sweets. If they have potato soup as the special, get it - it's delicious. Bon Appetit!

Ate here this past Sunday for a late lunch. The chopped salad was overly chopped to be almost mush especially with all the dressing that was mixed in. Maybe they put it in a vitamix instead of chopping it by hand? It was basically lettuce with small amounts of a few other ingredients, tomato, onion, etc. Although there was an abundance of bacon bits on top of the salad. The scrod (tilapia?) almost tasted recooked, just didn't taste fresh. Sweet potato was good although quite small. I think my son enjoyed his turkey burger and sweet potato fries more than I enjoyed my meal. Thought the service was slow. The bread had a funny taste unlike previous trips to this chop house. Normally i like this restaurant but not so much this recent visit.

Let's say you're itching for a restaurant meal but don't want to wander too far from Fountain City. If Chop House is the solution you're considering, you should wander farther from Fountain City. You will be rushed to finish your meal and leave, even if it is long past the busiest hours and even if there are empty tables nearby. You will order your food and it will arrive cooked reasonably well, if predictably so. You will almost be happy. Almost. But you'd be so much happier if you drove for ten minutes and visited a restaurant that wasn't just another version of just another chain, where everything is almost good and the service is almost not pushy, but not quite.

This is a quality restaurant with good service, good food, and a good atmosphere. The prices are reasonable for what they are offering which is quality food. Not quite fine dining, but good, quality fare served the same way every time and with attention to detail. My husband and I went here for lunch and were not disappointed. We love the Tomato Dill soup and phoned ahead to see if they had it today, as they rotate their soups. I ordered the Lunch Combo and for $9 I got a large bowl of soup, a loaded baked potato, and a side of Parmesan Creamed Spinach. All were very delicious but warning: the spinach is very rich. There was way more food than even I could eat for lunch, and I am a hearty eater. My husband just wanted 2 bowls of Tomato Dill soup and the waitress was happy to price it at the Lunch Combo price to save us some money. The service was fast and friendly and even the trainee in tow was knowledgeable and attentive. The complementary bread was warm and fresh and our drinks were never empty. All in all, you cannot ask for more out of a restaurant. I would highly recommend giving them a try.

The Chop House is by far one of my favorite go-to spots for a good steak. The main thing that catapults The Chop House over its competition is consistency. The food is always excellent, steaks are cooked consistently each time, and the wait staff is always courteous. I have been to this restaurant at least a dozen times and haven't had a complaint yet. If you're looking for a steakhouse every bit as good as Ruth's Chris without the hefty cost, then check out The Chop House. One last thing, don't skip the salad, it's exceptional!

Used to be great, I have watched it decline to mediocre.

The prime rib is succulant and the lobster is great. Try the prime rib with the horseradish crusting that they cook on top, it blends so well with the prime rib that it just complements the whole meal. Yum. Excellent salads... try the bacon and blue, it has crispy tortillas. The desserts are also wonderful, the cramel chocolate cake with buttery nutty ice cream is just so rich and with a cup of coffee AMAZING. The coffee cream is served in cute little metal pourers too... a nice touch!

Hood ambiance and service, but the menu and food was a bit disappointing. I have eaten at Chop House's many times, and this was the worst one. I me the menu just seems like any regular $15 restaurant. Nothing really special.
