I'm in love with the I-40 pie.... and the Deep South and the Buttermilk... I could go on forever. The I-40 has pecans, coconut, and chocolate chips and it's delicious. They have regular sized pies and smaller personal pies. I think it makes more sense to get the 4 mini pies that way you can share! I think its about $16 for the mini pies and they are enough for one person, extremely rich and tasty. We usually get some before a family get together and they are a hit!

Expensive not so grand pies. It's nothing special if you can buy a pie that's just as good from Kroger. Seem to have a couple of regular territorial customers.

I love Pie. We had a bit of a mixed experience, but I'll write part of it off to the fact that we went there late in the day before they were ready to close. The nature of pie means we should expect the crust to have become a little soggy and some of the fillings to settle a little. That's on us. My wife got a little chocolate pie and was disappointed because it wasn't sweet at all. I've had chocolate pies both ways (sweet and not-so-much) and like both, but I can see why she'd expect it a little sweeter. I had coconut cream pie, and it was amazing. Exactly what I was hoping for. Seriously, though. Don't go to a pie place on Pi Day and expect much. You're one of hundreds of people who think they can just get whatever they want, and everyone wants something different. Just be thankful it even exists or make your own damn pie. I liked this place enough that I'll likely go here again. It's definitely worth the trip.

Pie is delicious on any day of the week, but it tastes even better when you eat it on National Pi Day. We arrived to the shop around 1pm and this little, tiny pie shop was packed to the gills. The ladies in the shop kept up with the crowd and the sweet lady at the register met us with smiles. She was prepared with a cheat sheet slip of paper and let me rattle off the first 15 digits of pi in exchange for a FREE small pie. In the honor of the shop's name, I decided to try a buttermilk pie. While waiting for my pie, I was able to see the girls in the kitchen working quickly to assemble rows of little pies to keep up with the holiday crowd. We pulled up one of the few stools in the window and settled in to eat our pies. I loved the little wooden forks! First bite: still warm from the oven! It was heavenly - so sweet and rich. The crust was the perfect kinda flaky! I don't know how to describe a buttermilk pie, but I will tell you that I get why they made it their namesake! And while this was heavenly, I have been in many other times and have never had a bad pie. I usually get one of their fruity offerings, but would highly recommend any of their specials! This is a great place to pick up dessert for a special occasion, whether a small pie or a regular size pie. I have always had good service here. One of these days, I'll have to branch out and try their biscuits. If I can get past their pies, that it. Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop closes early and given the line out the door on Pi day, it's no wonder they ran out of pie shortly before closing. If anyone had a bad experience here, I'd urge them to give it another shot. The delicious pies deserve it.

Man these were all good pies!!! I went and got my hair cut at Tease and was wondering about the tiny little pie shop I always pass by... Then I was told about their 4 for $16 mini pie box deal!! I stopped in around 5:30p. There so many many pies available!!! I got an I-40 -- OMG this was the best!!!; Granny's Apple crumble -- really great topping!; Coconut meringue -- very good; and chocolate meringue -- my least favorite but... having a favorite among these amazing mini pies is like having one, single favorite jewel in Scrooge McDuck's massive treasure vault... Warning though...if you & your loved one(s) have zero self-control...hide 3 of the 4 mini pies....

PI DAY and they only have some big pies left....not many..only the Chess, I-40 and pecan pie. Thats it. $26.00 Otherwise, chocolate merigue, smore's a 45 minute wait....hmmmmm. What's wrong here. Very tiny place. You would think it being "PI" day they would have LOTS of PIE.....having to be prepared. One lady in here asked the lady if she knew it was PI Day, she said NO!!! WHAT?!?! With the reviews, we are gonna pass...the ladies in the back are trying to figure out how to make the merigue. ALOT of people do not look happy especially after hearing that lady say NO. ALOT of people are walking out. Would not recommend. Very unprepared and very unknowledgable. Merigue shouldn't take 45 minutes...after that round she said they are done for the day!!! Wow.

A little bitty establishment located a few miles west of downtown. They make some tasty pies in individual or full size portions. A point and pick process of ordering your selection, because all the finished product is displayed for sale. I had a individual cinnamon sugar topped appel pie of goodness and coffee. The pie was just about prefect with a crispy sugary topped crust, good apple to gooey cinnamon filling ratio inside, and their signature soft and flaky shortbread pie shell crust. The coffee is local roasted..... it was good, not outstanding, but good for pie. The problem is the price. Just seemed a bit steep for the quantity despite the quality. 4 individual pies and 2 coffees.......$ 21 and some change.

I'm not sure why everyone keeps referencing grandma's pies. Did they do some type of advertisement suggesting that they had traditional pies? When I went I got three of the individual little pies, which I think is a cute idea. They were good. Not the most amazing thing I've ever eaten, but a good pie at a decent price; not sure what more you can ask for.

Fiancé and I went here tonight. Got a big chocolate meringue pie and a small strawberry pie. Strawberry pie was amazing. The strawberry one was for me. So good. You can tell they used actual strawberry. Not too sweet. Chocolate pie was good. A little to sweet for my taste, but the fiancé liked it. Will go back!

We planned to go to this pie shop for a Yelp event on Pi day. First with the good: Their pie crust is flaky and delicious, the place is quaint and cute and the situation is good, close to our neighborhood. Now.... The customer service was not, I repeat NOT friendly. Ok, it's Pi day and maybe they are overwhelmed.... Yet they did not offer plates, silverware or even if we wanted to get something to drink, which is the best source of profit for a business. They did not make the most of their one holiday a year by putting up any decorations or even saying "Happy Pi Day!" or anything. I had to take three mugs they have on display with the letters "P", "I", and ""E" and rearrange them to make a "P" "I" to go with the festivities.... To top it all off, and this is the saddest for the owners of this business, they ran out of pie by 6 pm which probably meant a huge loss of income for such a small business, They had to turn away a LOT of people while we were there eating our pies. Oh, the only pies they had left, which was the only choice we had, were "Meh"... Bottom line: they wasted the biggest sales day, and Meh pies.

Buttermilk Sky Pie shop is not your grandma's or even mother's pie. Very average, just a step about freezer pies at Krogers.

I was SO excited to finally try out this place, and I was extremely disappointed when I did. Here's why: 1. Upon walking in, it smelled...funky, to say the least. The way I described it to my sister as we were walking out was "like dogs" but I don't know if thats entirely accurate. But one thing's for sure it did not smell like yummy pies, it didn't even smell CLEAN. It just smelt weird. 2. I thought, that for the prices and for all the hype I've seen on Facebook, these pies were going to be GOOD. Not only were the pies below average, so were the thumbprint cookies that I bought too. Thankfully I only bought a few instead of the fabulous deal of 12 for $10! Give me a break! They're MAYBE worth 10/$1, although if I were going to buy cookies I'd most likely opt to use that dollar to buy a couple of cookies from the Publix bakery. 3. The pies. I got the 4 inch buttermilk pie and my sister got the 4 inch Elvis pie. The Elvis pie was missing an ingredient, bananas, the cashier informed us because they ran out... which I thought was weird because there's a target 10 minutes away that sells bananas for 20 cents a pop. Sounds like bad business to me to completely leave out an ingredient just because there aren't any in the building. The cashier put the elvis pie in a cute little box and my buttermilk pie in a paper bag. Why I got the short end of the deal I don't know, but I did. By the time I got my pie home, which was maybe 20 minutes later, the paper bag that my pie was in had grease stains soaking through. Talk about disturbing... It was a lackluster experience overall. But to be fair, I will say: their packaging, and marketing are ADORABLE. Everything down to the sign outside and the decor inside the shop is to die for! Everything, that is, except for the food.

Delicious pie. Friendly people. This will become a ritual for us. I can personally vouch for the peanut butter and the key lime... And my wife loved the peach. So glad they opened up! Don't believe the frozen pie comments... This stuff is crazy good!

I wish I would have read the other reviews before going to Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop. The 4-inch apple pie ($4.25) I purchased was not edible. The bottom crust was totally mushy. At first I thought it was under cooked so I baked it for ten minutes; it never browned or crisped up. It may have been too much lard because it was very greasy to the touch when I turned it upside down; image posted. I will not be returning.

My husband and I are from Chicago, so we are pretty finicky when it comes to our food. We went to Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop and we took away a couple of the small pies. We were very impressed that the apple pie was so chock-full of delicious big apples in such a little pie. The taste was very home made apple pie! We also took away a chocolate meringue pie which was equally delicious. Just the right amount of very chocolatey taste without being overwhelming. I hope we will be able to visit this store again sometime if we return to this area.

The pies are amazing! Tried the buttermilk pie and spiced pumpkin. Can't wait to try the biscuits and the ice cream. They have homemade ice cream....all natural, pies in multiple sizes, biscuits (and specialty butters and toppings). You MUST try this place!

Looking for beautiful pies that taste just like grandma's? STAY AWAY FROM BUTTERMILK SKY PIE SHOP. As soon as me and my husband entered the building, a weird smell hit us... dirty, wet towels... maybe? Certainly no smell you expect from a bakery. There was a little bit of a line, so I ran to the bathroom. I know this place is tiny, but they had their miniature pie boxes stacked right next to the bathroom door. DISGUSTING. Upon entering the single stall, I discovered where the wet, dirty towel smell was emanating from. The bathroom was about on par with a minor league baseball team's public restrooms after the 7th inning. For those of you who have never been in that situation, the bathrooms are gross. Now determined not to get a mini pie box that was being stored near the gross restroom, when we reached the register we ordered 4 mini pies so that we would get a big box that was stored behind the counter. The girl behind the register, while sweet, was very clueless about the offered flavors, the pie-making process, and what "fresh local ingredients" were being used (as touted on their website). While they sell Cruze Farm Milk pints in their cooler, they don't actually use their buttermilk in any of their pie-making process. A large container of generic buttermilk sat on their back counter... very disappointing. We were also disappointed to see a lot of pre-made (made by BSPS, so I'm told) pie shells being filled with gelatinous goo. These aren't hand crafted pies that my "grandma would've *tried* if she could've" (as stated on their website). My grandmother would have been absolutely mortified by these pies! Once home, my husband and I reluctantly tried our first pies: him buttermilk, me cherry. Both of the crusts were lack-luster, overly dry and crumbled instead of flaked. The buttermilk pie was undercooked in the middle and the cherry pie tasted like a canned filling and had a weird shortbread heart on top that was seasoned with cinnamon - It didn't match the cherry flavoring at all and was so dry that it was just tossed out. Next up was the apple with a streusel-like topping and another cinnamon-seasoned shortbread heart on top and the coconut cream. Both of these were okay (minus the awful crusts and shortbread heart) but again, nothing my grandmother would have ever made. All in all - Despite the cute branding, these pies are like your common cafeteria/crappy grocery store pies. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. If looking for a great pie in Knoxville, head over to Magpie's for their Friday Pie Day or Just Ripe for tasty seasonal pies made with truly local ingredients and for the best slice of buttermilk pie (made with Cruze Farm buttermilk) you'll ever have.

I have been wanting to try this pie shop ever since they opened in Bearden. It was a very cool idea and I felt like they had a very good concept that was currently lacking in Knoxville. I had to opportunity to try two of their small pies. The pecan and the chocolate. I have to say that I was very disappointed. The chocolate was nothing more than a chocolate pudding with meringue and a crust that was not flaky or well cooked. The pecan had very little taste and it also had a crust that was not flaky and too me seemed undercooked. That is just my opinion and I am just a customer.

My husband and I tried Buttermilk Sky for the first time tonight. We bought a coconut pie and it was scrumptious. Can't wait to return to try their other goodies! And to have another piece of the coconut pie tomorrow night!
