This place is terrible. I checked in on June 29, 2013 at 9pm. The night attendant was not courteous at all. She just wanted to check me in fast get me out of her sight. I dare not ask any questions. Also the beds are very uncomfortable. The mattress is hard as a rock. Today in mid-afternoon they decided to do full blown construction across from my room. Hammering and banging and removing door frames. Unbelievable. The breakfast, although complimentary was not that great. The gravy with the biscuits and gravy was terrible. The breakfast attendant kept complaining and talking about how tired she was and how long she had been working and how much of a train wreck her kitchen was. Someone needs to re-train the staff at this hotel and teach them about what customer service is all about. Stay elsewhere!

What a miserable place. The room we were placed into smelled so much of smoke that we asked to be moved. The attendant at the desk said it would be "an upgrade at $129.00/night". Pool was fine, breakfast was cold but wasn't expecting much there. Wifi sucked, Ice machine was in good shape, Not enough luggage carts. Overall a lousy experience. Move on down the road.

Beware if you are booking this hotel through a third party. They will automatically put you in a smoking room. I asked for a non-smoking room at check-in but was told I had to pay a $15 plus tax. They said it was their policy to charge customers that booked through a third party. Condsidering the hotel was less then a quarter full I thought it would have been no problem to just give me one. I also was with my two young children so If it is Best Westerns policy to put kids in a smoking room unless you pay extra then I will not stay at a Best Western Hotel. I also asked the front desk three different times to have a manager call me. No one ever did. I filled out a comment page on their website to voice my disapproval and was then finally contacted by the manager through email. She basically threw her staff under the bus blaming them for misunderstanding and said if I come back to call her directly and she will waive the fee. No thanks!

Ok, there's an elevator-you know I am an elevator fan if you read my reviews. So already this is at least a 3 star Inn in my mind even before I get to my room. Pleasant smell. Ok. Clean. Ok. You know what I mean? Newly modern. Pillow top bed. Plasma tv. Microwave, fridge, and all the rest. Full free breakfast. Quiet. I sleep like a baby on Best Western beds. My wife says I snore...I doubt it. That's just ridiculous. Tomorrow I'll have earned a free stay at a Best Western on their rewards program.Yea for me!! $84. Yep! I recommend a stay here. Come to Knoxville if you wanna see dead bodies. U of Ky has the only dead body outdoors natural aging center in the United States. Oh you're not into that....well, Fort Knox is home of the USA Gold Depository, and Dolly Pardon's Dollywood is just down the road. I remember Johnny Carson once said to his guest, Dolly Pardon, that he'd give her a million dollars if he could just take one look....ooops, this is a family site. Anyway, Knoxville, it's better than a lump of coal, which they mine a lot of around there. The Best Western Strawberry Inn was fine--not a lump of coal and I'd stay here again.

I have never been one to slam a place a place of business before, and always try to give a place the benefit of the doubt, but my experience here was so bad I guess there is a first time for everything. Reason for the one star, Firstly leaving zero was not an option, secondly the two children (would not be surprised if they were still in high school) at the front desk seemed very sweet and attempted to help, however did not have the proper resources are authority. We visited over the hotel over labor day weekend after traveling in the car for about 8 hours to get there- long day to say the least. We called earlier that afternoon to make sure a late check in was available and stated we would be there about 9:00 PM. We ended up arriving a little before then, everything was great during check in, however as soon as we opened the door to our room we were blasted by a heat wave. After we messed with the A/C for a while it was obvious that it wasn't working. We immediately called down to the front desk and was told that someone would be right up. We waited, and waited, and waited.... Finally after an hour my boyfriend had to go downstairs to check only to learn that they had forgotten. Really? You just forgot.... He came back up with guy who was supposed to have been notified. You would think that person would have been a maintenance tech, but no... simply the one of the front desk clerks. After looking at the wall unit the kid asks us if WE had tools that he could use. I'm sorry I didn't come on my trip ready for construction. He said that he might have something in his car he could use. He leaves and a little while later the other front desk girl comes up with a pair of scissors. She explained that she came instead because she had smaller fingers. (Apparently the knob when needed to be adjusted and snapped off before). She explained that maintenance had been working on all the units and must have messed this one up. We asked if there was another room, and was told they were all booked up. She continues to work on it for a little while and eventually gets it to blow out not so hot air, (better than nothing I guess). By this point its 11PM and we are WIPED OUT and HUNGRY! We finally have to ask her to leave since its obvious its not getting fixed. On her way out she said that her mom would be there in the morning and she would talk to her. (Really, your mom?) That night the room got SOOOOOO HOT! I checked the thermostat at one point and saw that it had reached the mid-80s. We actually had to step out in the hallway a few times to cool off. When we got up in the morning; sticky, hot and grumpy, we decided that enough was enough and cancelled the rest of our reservation. (We had booked one more night) My boyfriend went down again and found the same young girl from the night before working the front desk. She explained that the manager was not in yet, and he (HE? Guess Momma was busy so Papa is stepping in?) normally takes care of his mom in the morning and he, "comes in eventually". I'm sorry, WHAT!? Seriously, who runs this place? She told us that she "called the manager and he said he could refund the night we cancelled and give 40% off the night we had already stayed. Perfect, we were totally happy with this. But then, she said she called someone else who was NOT the manager... and was told not to give a discount on the night we stayed. No use getting mad at this girl, after all she was just the messenger. Since we weren't willing to wait around for the manager to come in "eventually" we left a message and were told they would call us ASAP. We waited three days and still no call. My boyfriend had to call multiple times before he was told, the manager "had time" to speak with him since she was so backlogged with issues. (Crazy thought- have a manager around on a holiday weekend and maybe it won't get so crazy...) She stated that the owner had authorized her to offer a free nights stay, which is a generous offer. However he attempted to explain that we live 8 hours away and would not be returning to Knoxville in the future. To this her lovely and gracious response is, and I quote, "Well then what were you doing here in the first place." I'm sorry, but how is the purpose of my trip ANY of your business. The entire conversation was filled with catty and snippy comments just like these. I could not believe how beyond rude this woman was. Truly unbelievable. We asked if we could please speak to the owner and received the equally b*tchy response is, "No. He won't talk to you." No explanation, just "no". Is is just me that the owner of any establishment should be willing to step in to resolve a situation??? The management of this place is such a joke. Someone needs to break it to this woman that as a manager its your job to handle issues... acting annoying and inconvenienced by your customers isn't going to go over well. Do yourself and favor and stay FAR away!!!

This hotel absolutely SUCKS!! If you get room 304 then go sleep in your car b/c it's better. The mattress felt like every spring had metal fatigue. Every piece of furniture had significant stains. The room smelled like at least 20 cigarettes had been smoked in it the night before. PLEASE replace the king mattress in room 304!!!

This was my first time at a Best Western and I had an amazing experience. I got a room with two queen beds for super cheap. They give you everything you could possibly need - 4 packets of coffee, hair and body wash, makeup remover, the works. I'm used to cheap hotels really skimping on this stuff, so this was a treat. They provide plenty of TV stations, comfortable beds, and great sound proofing in the walls. There were vending machines right by my room that had tons of food and drinks. The only downside to staying here, I found, was that parking is only available in front and on one side of the building; I prefer to be able to see my car when I look out the window. But there's plenty of lighting, and mine was jammed full of stuff and it all remained safely tucked away. Another downside is that the wifi was not working the night I was there, though it seemed fine in the morning, so it could have been my laptop, and to be fair, I didn't call them to address it. The best surprise about this hotel was the breakfast. I'm used to coming downstairs in the morning at a hotel and finding the breakfast room swarmed, and there not being much food left, or finding food but not being thrilled with it. Well, I went to get breakfast less than an hour before it closed, and there was hardly anyone there. I had some eggs and bacon and they were VERY good - so fresh and yummy! By far the best hotel breakfast I've had, and I've been to a number of hotels. It totally made my morning.

It's a Best Western, so my expectations weren't that great. This place is ok, nothing fabulous. We had a one night stay here after driving through pouring rain in the mountains, so we were pretty wiped. There were some baseball teams staying here when we were, so it was pretty noisy. It was one of those deals where all the parents were chatting and the kids were running wild. Agh! The room was ok. I think I could have cleaned it better. It had that clean look about it, but not the scrubby kind of clean if you know what I mean. The supplies in the bathroom were kind of chintzy, like for 1 person, which I didn't like. If the room is supposed to sleep four, why aren't there supplies for four? Also there weren't many towels. Four people, need some towels! I think this was another hotel and it was remodeled to a Best Western, so in that sense, everything was pretty new. The breakfast bar was pretty lame. Apples were the only fruit, but there were plenty of biscuits and gravy. Lots of pastries and other carbs, the waffle maker needed a good scrubbing. The one time when I went to talk to the person at the desk, she was out on a smoking break and nobody else was covering for her. It was a Sunday morning at 8am and there were many of us waiting!
